THIS PROBLEM IS NOT RELATED TO THE AGE OF VEHICLE, NOR IS IT OWNER-CREATED. IT IS A MANUFACTURER DESIGN FLAW. DRIVER-SIDE FRONT FLOOR STAYS SOAKING WET. SHOES GET WET AND SLIPPERY WHICH IS DANGEROUS WHILE PRESSING ON GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS (DRIVING HAZARD). MOLD CONTINUES TO GROW EVEN AFTER CLEANED (HEALTH HAZARD). TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS A FAILED GROMMET FROM THE EVAPORATOR CORE DRAIN. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ($700 REPAIR ESTIMATE TO REPLACE GROMMET). DUE TO HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS, A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THIS MANUFACTURER FLAW/FAULTY MATERIAL!

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL BEGAN TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SUB FRAME HAD RUSTED NEAR THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL CAUSING THE A-ARM TO SEPARATE AND THE WHEEL TO LEAN INWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

BLOWN ENGINE ON A WELL MAINTAINED, SINGLE OWNER 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR WITH UNDER 70,000 MILES. AT 55MPH AND WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING (E.G. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH OR CHANGES IN DASHBOARD GAUGES), THE CAR MADE AN EXTREMELY LOUD NOISE (ALMOST HIGH REVVING LIKE), BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND RAPIDLY WAS LOSING POWER. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" AND WHILE THE CAR WOULD TURN OVER AND START THE NOISE BECAME LOUDER AND THE CAR WOULD STALL OUT. AFTER BEING TOWED TO THE GARAGE, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AT ALL AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. MY MECHANIC ALSO NOTICED THAT MY DRIVER SIDE FLOOR MAT WAS SOAKED WHICH I HAD ACTUALLY NOTICED 2 WEEKS PRIOR WHEN WAS CLEANING MY CAR BUT HAD THOUGHT THAT I HAD ACCIDENTALLY GOTTEN IT WET DURING THE WASHING PROCESS. GIVEN THAT WE HAVE HAD NO RAIN SINCE THEN NOR HAD I WASHED THE CAR SINCE 2 WEEKS PRIOR, IT WAS CLEAR THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE OF GETTING IT WET. MY MECHANIC THEN SAID THAT OF THE 6 2004/2005 ENDEAVORS THAT HE HAS REPAIRED IN THE PAST YEAR, HE HAD SEEN THE SAME ISSUE AND WHILE SOME RESOLVED WITH THE UNBLOCKING OF SOME LINE THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE AC HE ALSO NOTED THAT THE OTHERS REQUIRED A MUCH MORE EXTENSIVE AND COSTLY REPAIR DUE TO THE HEATING ELEMENT WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE ISSUE. HE ALSO NOTED THAT EACH OF THE ENDEAVORS WITH THE SOAKED DRIVER SIDE MAT ISSUE HAD ALSO LOST THEIR RADIOS. IRONICALLY MY RADIO HAD JUST GONE OUT THE WEEK PRIOR (IT COMES ON AS IF IT IS WORKING BUT NO SOUND OUT OF THE SPEAKERS) & I HAD MADE AN APPT WITH MITSUBISHI TO RESOLVE. THE MORE I READ ONLINE THE MORE I SEE THE SAME ISSUES THAT I AND MY MECHANIC HAVE NOTED THEREFORE IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS CLEARLY A VERY COSTLY PATTERN OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS PARTICULAR LINE/YEAR OF MITS VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE IS 2004 ENDEAVOR, PROBLEM FIRST NOTICED EARLY OCT 2010. DRIVER SIDE FLOORBOARD AND REAR PASSENGER FLOORBOARD COMPLETELY SOAKED WITH WATER. WATER IS COMING UNDERNEATH FLOOR BOARD FROM AC DUE TO IMPROPER DRAINAGE. THIS IS A MAJOR HEATH CONCERN THERE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ENDEAVOR AND PART NEEDED TO REPAIR PROBLEM IS NOT EXPENSIVE BUT LABOR IS SO EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF DIFFICULTY IN GETTING TO PROBLEM AREA. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN PROBLEM AND WE AS CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE OVERCHARGED FOR THE REPAIR, WHICH ACCORDING TO DEALER COST AROUND 1000.00 . THIS IS UNREALISTIC. THEY PRESENT ECONOMY IS BAD ENOUGH WITHOUT BEING RIPPED OUT MY MITSUBISHI. I NEEDED MY CAR TO GET TO WORK BECAUSE THIS IS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. DUE TO A FAULTY A.C. FILTER MATERIAL, THE AIR CONDITION DRAIN DUCT IS OBSTRUCTED. THE FAULTY MATERIAL BREAKS DOWN AND HINDERS THE ABILITY OF THE CONDENSATION TO DRAIN OUTSIDE OF THE SUV. THE WATER HAS NO WHERE TO GO AND LEAKS INTO THE INTERIOR FLOOR BOARD AND SATURATES THE CARPET AND INTERIOR COMPONENTS OF THE CAR. THE WATER ALSO BECOMES TRAPPED IN A POCKET OR AREA OF THE FLOORBOARD AND CANT DRAIN OUTSIDE. THIS PROBLEM RESULTS IN A MOLD DEVELOPING AND CAN OR WILL BE HARMFUL WHEN EXPOSED TO PROLONG PERIODS! WE HAVE HAD THE DRAIN LINE CLEANED OUT ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AT OUR OWN EXPENSE AND THE ISSUE KEEPS RECURRING? THE REPAIR SHOP STATES THE DETERIORATED FILTER MATERIAL CONTINUES TO BREAK APART AND BECOME LODGED IN THE DRAIN LINE. MITSUBISHI HAS YET TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND THEIR REMEDY IS TO BRING IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A REPAIR CHARGE THAT IS EXPENSIVE, UNAFFORDABLE AND UNREASONABLE! WE ARE HAVING BREATHING DIFFICULTIES DUE TO THE OBNOXIOUS AND POSSIBLY TOXIC MOLD SMELL. WE NEED THE CAR FOR TRANSPORTATION BACK AND FORTH TO OUR JOBS AND HAVE NO CHOICE AS WE NEED TO PAY OUR BILLS! SURELY IF THIS WAS A MINOR REPAIR COST WE WOULD HAVE CORRECTED IT DUE TO THE POSSIBLY HARMFUL NATURE, HOWEVER THE REPAIR COST IS UNAFFORDABLE. CONSIDERING THIS IS A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE, WE WOULD APPRECIATE AND FEEL IT NECESSARY TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND HAVE THE MANUFACTURER CORRECT IT. 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR. A/C DRAIN FAILS TO PROPERLY DRAIN CAUSING WATER TO DRAIN ONTO THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR. THIS ALSO OCCURRED OVER TWO MONTHS DURING WHICH I WASN'T USING THE A/C SO IT MAY ALSO BE RELATED TO RAIN WATER OR OTHER CONDENSATION. MITSUBISHI KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT FIX IT. THE CONDENSATION FROM THE AC DOES NOT DRAIN OUT OF THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. IT IS A "KNOWN" DESIGN FLAW THAT DOES NOT PROVIDE A DRAIN 'TUBE" BUT THE WATER IS SUPPOSED TO DRAIN OUT A HOLE AND OUT THROUGH THE FRAME BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. THE HOLE CAN BECOME PLUGGED. THE WATER RUNS INTO THE VEHICLE UNDER THE CARPET AN UNDER THE FLOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE CARPET CAN HAVE STANDING WATER MAKING THE FOOT WET AND SLIPPERY ON THE PEDAL. ALSO THE WATER HAS NOWHERE TO GO. THE WATER WILL THEN EVAPORATE AND RECONDENSE ON THE WINDSHIELD, OBSTRUCTING VIEWS. I CAN NEVER COMPLETELY DRY OUT THE WATER AND I AM WORRIED THAT MOLD IS GROWING IN THE CAR. ALSO THE WATERLOGGED FLOOR STINKS HORRIBLY. ABOUT 5 MONTHS LATER, THE FAN STOPPED BLOWING AGAIN INTERMITTENTLY. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE A/C COMPLETELY OFF FOR A DAY AND THEN IT WOULD START WORKING AGAIN. ALSO, IT IS LEAKING INTO THE DRIVER SIDE FLOORBOARD. NOW, I HAVE A MUSTY SMELL ANYTIME I GET IN THE CAR. THIS INVESTIGATION WAS OPENED ON DECEMBER 30, 2009, BASED ON FIVE CONSUMER REPORTS ALLEGING GASOLINE FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL FILL PIPE. SOME OF THE COMPLAINANTS INDICATED THE FUEL FILL PIPE HAD CORRODED TO THE POINT OF BEING PERFORATED, ALLOWING FUEL TO LEAK FROM THE PIPE. WE HAD THIS FIXED IN CONCORD, NH. NOW IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AGAIN. THEY SAY THEY DO NOT FIX IT TWICE. I CALLED LAST NOVEMBER AND MITSUBISHI WAS NO HELP AT ALL. WE HAVE ONLY 115, 000 MILES ON THE CAR.

BOUGHT THIS 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR USED WITH 64K MILES IN JANUARY. STARTED USING THE AIR THIS SUMMER AND NOTICED DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR IS SOAKING WET AFTER EACH USE. THE CAR HAS BEEN ACCUMULATING FLUID ON THE FLOOR OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. USURE OF WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS, WE HAVE BEEN ABSORBING THE WATER AND AIRING OUT THE CAR. MOLD HAS ACCUMULATED AS WELL (BLACK MOLD) AND NOW I KNOW WHY I'VE HAD REPEATED RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS, INCLUDING PNEUMONIA THREE TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS. RUST IS ALSO FORMING DUE TO THE CONSTANT HUMIDITY LEVELS INSIDE THE CAR. THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMS TO BE RUSTING AS WELL AS THE DRIVER'S SIDE CHAIR FLOOR MOUNT. I CANNOT SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING, AS IT IS COVERED BY THE PANELS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED TO 85 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND IT STOPPED ABRUPTLY. AS A RESULT OF THE STOP, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO AN EMBANKMENT, FLIPPED DOWN A HILL, AND LANDED IN ANOTHER EMBANKMENT. AS THE VEHICLE FLIPPED, THE DASH PANEL DETACHED AND STRUCK THE CONTACT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURE HAS TSB'S ON ON THE ISSUE WITH FOAM GASKET REPLACEMENT OR INITIALLY DRILLING A HOLE CLEANING IT OUT AND INSTALLING A RUBBER PLUG TSB-08-55-007. NOW INSTALLATION OF A HOSE USED FOR RADIATOR OVERFLOW ON AN ECLIPSE NOW BEING SUGGESTED NO: TSB-11-55-003. HOW IS THIS NOT A DESIGN FLAW AND HOW IS THE MOLD AND MOISTURE ISSUE NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. THE INTERNAL CAB PARTS ARE NOT COATED OR TREATED TO INHIBIT RUST FROM THIS EXCESSIVE MOISTURE. AFTER DRIVING MY 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS I HAD A GAS LEAK THAT I THOUGHT WAS STRANGER WHILE FUELING MY SUV . IT TURNED OUT TO FALL UNDER THE RECALL FOR MY SUV. I HAD THIS PROBLEM LONG BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED .LORD ONLY KNOWS HOW MUCH GAS I LOST AT THE PUMP THAT I WILL NEVER GET BACK... BUT I RECENTLY HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY FRONT ROTORS I HAD A MITSUBISHI DEALER INSPECT MY ENTIRE SUV FOR ANY AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE WRONG..JUST THE OTHER DAY I WENT TO STOP AT A RED SIGNAL AND MY SUV DID BRAKE BUT ONLY FOR A SECOND IT STARTED TO SLIDE FORWARD AS I LOST BRAKING POWER IN MY FRONT BRAKES I HEARD A BIG POP AND A CLANK AS I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND HALFWAY SLID THROUGH THE LIGHT AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I DROVE A WAYS DOWN THE ROAD AND WAS HEARING THE CLANK SOUND AND IT FELT AS IF THE FRONT TIRES WERE TRYING TO CATCH ON SOMETHING I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE CALIBERS OR THE BRAKE PADS. I PULLED INTO THE CLOSEST GAS STATION TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED . THE PADS WERE FINE THE TIRES WERE FINE AND EVERYTHING LOOKED OK NO BRAKES FLUID LEAKING THE CALIBERS WERE FINE... I SLOWLY DROVE/COASTED MY SUV TO A FRIEND'S HOME GOING ABOUT FIVE TO TEN MILES AN HOUR. I TOOK OFF THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE TO SEE IF INDEED IT WAS THE BRAKE PADS OR CALIBERS AS I WAS TAKING OFF THE TIRE I NOTICED THAT THE ROTOR HAD SPLIT IN HALF. LIKE SEPARATING TWO PLATES AT THAT POINT I CALLED A LICENSED MECHANIC AND HE STATED IT SOUND LIKE A DEFECT IN THE ROTORS I'VE HAD THESE ROTORS ON THE SUV SINCE I'VE HAD IT AND IT WAS CHECKED OUT BY A DEALERS SERVICE CENTER BEFORE THIS HAD HAPPENED. 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR PIPE THAT LEADS FROM THE PLACE WHERE YOU PUT IN FUEL TO THE FUEL TANK IS MADE OF METAL AND HAS ROTTED AWAY. A HOLE HAS BEEN FOUND AND WHEN GAS IS PUT INTO THE TANK IT LEAKS OUT ALL OVER THE GROUND EVERY TIME GAS IS PUT INTO THE TANK. IT DOES THIS SO SEVERELY, IT ALMOST DOESN'T MAKE IT INTO THE TANK AND CANNOT FILL UP THE ENTIRE TANK. WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, IS WE ORDERED A NEW REPLACEMENT HOSE (WHICH IS ALSO METAL SO IT WILL EVENTUALLY ROT OUT) AND HAD IT REPLACED. THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I PARKED MY 2004 ENDEAVOR IN THE GARAGE LIKE I DO EVERY DAY WHEN I RETURN HOME. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND REMOVED THE IGNITION KEY. I TOOK SOME GROCERIES FROM THE PASSENGER SEAT, CLOSED THE PASSENGER DOOR AND WENT INSIDE. I CAME OUT A FEW MINUTES LATER TO RETRIEVE THE REST OF MY GROCERIES BUT THE CAR WAS MISSING! I LOOKED OUT THE GARAGE DOOR (WHICH WAS OPEN) AND SAW MY CAR CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF OUR NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET. WHEN I APPROACHED THE CAR I NOTED THAT THE GEAR WAS IN REVERSE! I PURCHASED A 2004 MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR FROM DAVE SMITH MOTORS IN SEPTEMBER, 2005. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS 6 TIMES. ONCE THEY REPLACED A FALSELY SEALED FRONT WINDSHIELD, TWICE THEY REPAIRED THE HEATER CORE, AND ONCE THEY REPAIRED THE DRIVE LINE. THE 2 OTHER VISITS WERE FOR INITIAL INSPECTION AND ESTIMATE . NOW IT SMELLS LIKE BURNING ELECTRIC WIRES AND IT IS STALLING WHILE IN MOTION. THIS CAR IS UNRELIABLE AND HAS BEEN UNDER REPAIR FOR WEEKS! THIS IS A 3 MONTH OLD CAR AND PURCHASED THE SUV NEW, AND THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOW SWITCHED STOPPED WORKING.
