FIRST NOTICED THE RUSTING AFTER AROUND 4 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP WHEN DID A DIY OIL CHANGE BUT I JUST IGNORED IT BECAUSE I JUST THOUGHT I'M JUST ONE OF THE UNLUCKY OWNER UNTIL DID A DIY OIL CHANGE LAST MONTH AND MY SURPRISED THE RUST GOTTEN WORST AND WIDENED. BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN JUNE, 2006 AND WAS GARAGE KEPT SINCE DAY ONE. IT ALSO GET WASHED REGULARLY BY ME AND AUTO CARWASH IN THE WINTER OF COURSE WITH UNDER CARRIAGE WASH. THE CAR HAS NOW 110K MILES.

THE FLOOR PANS OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONTS HAVE BEEN RUSTING ON MY NISSAN ALTIMA FOR YEARS. I CAN NOT REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST NOTICED IT BUT IT WOULD BE ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO EASILY. ALSO THE EXTERIOR PAINT ON MY CAR HAS PREMATURELY DEGRADED TO THE POINT WHERE I ALMOST HAVE NO CLEAR COAT LEFT ON MY CAR. THE MAIN ISSUE IS THE RUST. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR RUST IN A FLAT PART UNDER NEATH A CAR WHERE WATER SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SIT. I WILL BE ATTACHING PICTURES THAT SHOW THE EXTENT OF THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO COME ACROSS NUMEROUS CHAT PAGES THAT HAVE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEIR CARS AS WELL. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT CAN NOT POSSIBLY BE MEETING THE MINIMUM SAFETY STANDARDS. I DO LIVE IN A COLD WEATHER STATE NOW BUT THE RUSTING HAPPENED WHILE I WAS STILL LIVING IN SOUTH CAROLINA. THE FIXES FOR THIS ISSUE ARE EXPENSIVE AND SHOULD NOT BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER TO FIX WHEN IT IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR 2002-2006 ALTIMA SERIES. NOT ONLY DO THESE RUST SPOTS ALLOW FOR DEBRIS TO POSSIBLE COME INTO THE CABIN FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE BUT ALSO ALLOW FOR EXHAUST TO FILL THE CABIN. KOBE STEEL IS A KNOW SUPPLIER FOR NISSAN AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THEY SUPPLIED THE FLOOR PANELS FOR THESE YEAR OF ALTIMA'S SINCE THEY HAVE ADMITTED TO USING MATERIAL THAT IS NOT UP TO STANDARDS. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE FLOORBOARDS FIXED WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY OR SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS SITUATION RIGHT. MY CAR CURRENTLY WITH THE RUST AND PAINT ISSUES IS UN-SELLABLE AND HAS LOST 100% OF ITS VALUE. THANK YOU FOR REVIEWING THIS COMPLAINT. WENT OUT TO MY CAR ( PARKED) AND NOTICED SOMETHING HANGING FROM UNDERNEATH DRIVERS SIDE. A LARGE MASS OF RUSTED FLOOR BOARD WAS HANGING TO THE GROUND. I TOUCHED IT AND IT FELL OFF, ABOUT A FOOT LONG AND JUST AS WIDE.LAID ON GROUND TO SEE UNDER CAR AND THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD IS RUSTED OUT.HAS BEEN FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND THE MECHANIC HAS NOT MENTIONED THIS.I DISCUSSED WITH MECHANIC AND HE NOTIFIED ME THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS BEFORE AND I SHOULDN'T ALLOW MY TEEN DAUGHTER TO DRIVE HER CAR BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE.I THEN CHECKED ON THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING ALL NISSAN ALTIMA'S FROM 2002-2006. YET, NISSAN HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS IN A RECALL . IS NISSAN WAITING FOR MY DAUGHTERS FOOT TO GO THROUGH THE FLOOR AND CRASH AND DIE BEFORE THEY DO THE RIGHT THING. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO STEP IN OR STEP UP TO RESOLVE THIS BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. SO THE CAR REMAINS PARKED.QUESTION 'WOULD THEY LET THERE TEEN DRIVE THIS CAR "? The contact pulled to the side of the road and allowed the vehicle to cool off and added oil to the engine and the smoke subsided. The contact became aware of oil around the bumper of the vehicle. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle however, oil had to be added often for the vehicle to operate as intended. The dealer was contacted to schedule an appointment however, the vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The dealer confirmed there was no recall or warranty coverage on the vehicle. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. MY CAR STARTS TO GET DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ABOUT EVERY 200-300 MILES. START TO HEAR A CLUNK, WHEN I ADD OIL IT IS OK BUT ONLY GETS 16-18 MILES A GALLON VS THE 28-30 IT SHOULD GET. ENGINE IS BURNING THROUGH 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY WEEK. THIS MAKE MODEL AND YEAR ALREADY HAS A RECALL ON IT BUT THE WEB SITE IS SAYING THAT MY VIN NUMBER HAS NO OPEN RECALLS. THIS CAR IS THE SAME AS THE CARS COVERED BY THE RECALL. IT CAN'T BE A COINCIDENCE THAT MY VEHICLE AND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS, FROM THE SAME YEAR ARE DOING THE SAME THING BUT. NISSAN IS ONLY COVERING CERTAIN ONES. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR ALL 2006 ALTIMA'S WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. IT IS COSTING $12 A WEEK FIR OIL AND MY GAS MILEAGE IS DOWN BY 1/3.

The contact was uncertain if any warning lights appeared during the failure. The contact was able to pull the vehicle off the road and into the entrance of a parking lot. She then stated that the vehicle independently lurched forward through a fence and rolled down a hill and into a five-lane road. The air bags did not deploy during the incident. A police report was not filed and the contact was injured. With the assistance of a fellow motorist, the contact was able to move the vehicle to a nearby independent mechanic. Me and my fiancé had just picked the kids up from my mom’s. Got about 2 miles down the road and all of a sudden i heard a loud boom and a flash of light like a shot gun had went off in my ear. When I heard the boom my left side from my face to my hip felt like I had been hit. At the same time it happen with me it happen on the passenger side where my fiancé was sitting. I was able To pull to the side of the rd. I got out call law enforcement and looked around my car and it had not been hit so I open my door to get my kids out and that’s when I seen it was the airbags . They exploded and the reason I didn’t notice them when I got out of the car is because they was not inflated they had exploded. There is a huge hole in the top of each side air bag, it busted the inside of my passenger side door and threw shrapnel over to my driver side dash. He and I both are hurting on the side the airbags went off and he has a artificial hip on the side it hit him so I’m hoping it didn’t do anything to his hip

The air bags did not deploy, causing several injuries to the contact's right eye, cuts, and bruises to the left side of the contact's body. The contact sought medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 210,000.

Hydroplaned while entering a toll Plaza on 9/22/2021.  Crashed into the cement jersey wall and guardrail.  Car was totaled with front end, driver's side, and driver's side rear-end damage.  Airbags did not deploy.  The vehicle is being housed at a tow lot and will be available for inspection until I receive a duplicate copy of my title from DMV.  My safety was put at risk due to the fact the airbags did not deploy upon front-end impact.  The vehicle was towed directly to the tow lot from the crash scene and the issue has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center.  The vehicle has only been inspected on scene by highway patrol, police, and tow company representatives. There were no prior warnings, messages,  or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.   The only warning lamp illuminated at the time of incident was the service engine soon light.

THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER DEEMED THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. UPON INVESTIGATION THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: NTB-08-055-A, HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 122,649.

NISSAN ALTIMA 2006 REPEATEDLY FAILS TO START. ONCE WE GOT IT STARTED WE WOULD DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE AND THEN IT WOULD DIE OUT. VERY SCARY AS WE WERE ON A TRAFFIC ROADWAY. WE PROCEEDED TO A SERVICE CENTER TO GET A NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BUT THAT ONLY STARTED THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MOMENTS THEN IT DIED OUT AGAIN. REPAIR TECHNICIAN INFORMED US IT WAS THE NISSAN COMPUTER BOX INDICATING IT WAS READING EVERYTHING "BACKWARDS" AND THUS THE CAR COULD NOT DETERMINE HOW TO START THE CAR ANYMORE. THE SERVICE CENTER GOT IN TOUCH WITH A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND ORDERED A NEW COMPUTER BOX. THE NEW COMPUTER DID NOT WORK EITHER! WE ARE STUCK WITH AN INOPERABLE VEHICLE. HELP!

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that since owning the vehicle, the brakes, brake pads, or brake rotors were replaced every year to a year and a half. The contact became aware of the failure while depressing the brake pedal with an abnormal, grinding sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was initially serviced at a dealer; however, due to the recurring brake failure, the contact suspected that the dealer might have intentionally caused the frequent brake failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic once the failure returned; however, the vehicle experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

I TOOK MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA TO THE SHOP TO PURCHASE TIRES AND UPON PUTTING THE VEHICLE ON A LIFT, THE MECHANIC CALLED ME BACK TO SHOW ME A GAPING HOLE ON BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IF THE CARPET WERE LIFTED, YOU COULD SEE THROUGH TO THE ROAD ON BOTH SIDES. BOTH FLOORBOARD PANELS WERE RUSTED INCREDIBLY BADLY. AT ANY TIME MY DOG OR GRANDCHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. I AM UNAWARE OF HOW LONG THE HOLES HAVE BEEN THERE BUT JUDGING FROM THE SEVERITY OF THE RUST, I WOULD SAY IT HAS BEEN 5+ YEARS SINCE THEY STARTED RUSTING. MY 2009 NISSAN ALTIMA'S ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK MALFUNCTIONED AND MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WERE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A SNOW STORM. WE HAD TO CALL TRIPLE A TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AFTER WAITING FOR 2 HOURS IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN IN THE YEARS LEADING UP TO WHEN IT OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE THEN PAID $1191.50 TO HAVE THIS FIXED AND ENDED UP MISSING A DAY OF WORK. IN FURTHER READING, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS A PERIOD OF TIME WHERE OWNERS COULD HAVE THIS FIXED. I PURCHASED A VEHICLE FROM PYRAMID MOTORS. THE SECOND WEEK I GOT IT I WAS HEADED TO WORK AND THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE CAME COMPLETELY OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I CALLED PYRAMID AND SINCE I HAD A 30 DAY WARRANTY THEY AGREED TO FIX IT THEY TOOK IT TO WEST MEMPHIS THIE TOW TRUCK GUY SAID OH IT NOTHING THE AXLE JUST SLIPPED OUT WE'LL FIX IT AND IT WILL BE READY THE NEXT MORNING. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DY AND SAID IT WAS READY. I WENT AND PICKED IT UP. A WEEK OR TWO LATER THE CRANKING SYSTEM STARTED ACTING UP AND THE SAME AXLE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LIGHT START COMING OFF AND ON. I CALLED THEM AND TOLD THEM I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS SUPPOSSED TO BE FIX WAS MESSING UP AGAIN. I INFORMED THEM THAT THIS WAS A PART THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT SO I INFORMED THEM THAT I LOOKED THE CAR UP ON THE NATIONAL RECALL LIST AND THAT SOME OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT I WAS HAVING WS ON THAT LIST. I THEN INFORMED THEM THAT I WOULD NOT MAKE A PAYMENT UNTIL THEY AGREEDVTO FIX WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED WHEN I HAD MY WARRANTY. I ALSO INFORMED THEM THAT I HAD CHECKED THE MAKE MODEL OF CAR ON THE NATIONAL RECALL LIST AND THAT IT WAS ON THERE AND THAT I SAW IT AGAIN ON THE NEWS RECENTLY AND THAT IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW TO SALE RECALL CARS THE LADY NAME JENNIFER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 937 TO RETREIVE MY CEHICLE THEN GO ACROSS THE STREET TO THE OFFICE AND TALK TO A GUY NAMED BRIAN. I ASKED WHY WOULD I HAVE TO PAY THE REPOSSESSION BEFORE SOMEONE COULD DO ANYTHING AND THEY HUNG UP WHENEBER I CALL I CANT LEAVE A MESSAGE THEY HARDLY ANSWER THE PHONE AND THEY KEEP THE ANSWERING MACHINE FULL WHERE NO MESSAGES CAN BE LEFT.

The fuel gauge stopped working. Fuel gauge shows full all the time. Error code is P0462. Mechanic replaced fuel pump module assembly and this did not fix the problem. Check engine light is on and will not go off and the code will not clear.

I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 45 MPH, WHEN MY CAR'S ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I PANICKED AND HAD TO COAST OVER A LANE TO GET TO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER. MY CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AND I HAD TO CALL FOR TOWING. THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A BAD CAM SHAFT SENSOR. I HAVE REPLACED THIS SENSOR AT LEAST 4 TIMES ON THIS VEHICLE. IT CLEARLY IS A DEFECT BY THE MAKER. NISSAN SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THEIR RECALL, YET SO MANY NISSANS ARE STILL HAVING HE SAME ISSUE.

MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA'S VIN NUMBER IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL ANNOUNCED IN 2007 THAT DEALS WITH THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR BEING OVERHEATED, WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO CUT OFF WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHEN STOPPED AT STOPLIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. I FIRST EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM IN THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST AND IT HAS CONTINUED EVER SINCE. I EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM DAILY WITH MY CAR AND IT HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST GET INTO ACCIDENTS MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT FOR SOME REASON THE VIN NUMBER ON MY CAR ISN'T ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. WHEN I AM DRIVING AND STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR STOPLIGHT IMMEDIATELY MY CARS ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DROPS BELOW COLD, THEN THE CAR BEGINS TO RATTLE, THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE CAR WILL CUT OFF. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I TRAVEL AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS 10MPH, WHICH HAS CAUSED TO ALMOST GET INTO ACCIDENTS A MULTITUDE OF TIMES. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ON ANY ROAD AS LONG AS I'M STOPPED OR GOING BELOW 10MPH. THE PROBLEM OCCURS EVERYDAY NOW AND AT EVERY STOP I MAKE AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. SINCE NISSAN KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE IN CARS OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL, I WOULD LIKE MY VIN NUMBER TO BE INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF THOSE THAT CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE RECALL. DEAR SIR/MADAM, I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT AND NOTIFY THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED RECENTLY WITH MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5L ENGINE. I WAS WAITING ON THE SIGNAL TO TURN LEFT WHEN MY CAR FIRST SHUT OFF ON ME WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR SIGNS. I TURNED OFF MY IGNITION AND TRIED TO START MY CAR, IT STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. NEXT MORNING, I LEFT MY HOME FOR GROCERY AND I WAS DRIVING ON THE SIDE STREET AND MY CAR SHUT OFF ON ME AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME MY CAR WAS MOVING ON A TWO WAY STREET AND LUCKILY NO CAR WAS BEHIND ME. ALSO, ALL LIGHTS TURNED ON THIS TIME IN MY DASHBOARD AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT STAYED ON. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TURNED IT BACK ON, I GOT PANICED BUT THIS TIME MY CAR STARTED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE GROCERY STORE TO DO MY GROCERIES AND WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE AFTER AN HOUR FROM THE STORE, MY CAR DID NOT WANT TO START. NOW, I BECAME MORE CONCERNED AND FINALLY WHEN MY CAR STARTED, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO NEAREST OREILLY'S ON MY WAY HOME TO GET IT CHECKED. THEY TESTED MY BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND TOLD ME THAT ALL OF THEM WERE WORKING FINE BUT THE COMPUTER IS READING THE CODE P0340 WHICH REPRESENTS THE CAMSHAFT CENSOR IN THE VEHICLE. AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE TESTED AND RECEIVING THE RESULTS, ON MY WAY HOME IT TUNED OFF ON ME TWICE AGAIN AT THE SIGNALS. AFTER DOING MY RESEARCH I NOTICED THAT NISSAN HAD A RECALL FOR POTENTIAL DEFECTIVE CAMSHAFT CENSORS ON 653,910 UNITS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V-527. I CALLED THE NISSAN 1-800-647-7261 NUMBER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR A FREE REMEDY EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS FALLS UNDER THE SAME EQUIPMENT/PART RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR SINCE THEN. PLEASE CONSIDER MY COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS SERIOUS CONCERN AND ADVISE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE. TKS!

APP SENSOR FAILURE. MY CAR IS 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5SL WITH 48K MILES. I JUST GOT THE ENGINE OIL AND SERPENTINE CHANGED THURSDAY MORNING. THEN FRIDAY AFTERNOON I WAS ON FREEWAY AND SUDDENLY THE GAS PEDAL (ACCELERATION PEDAL) WAS LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE PRESSED DOWN. THE CAR COULD NOT KEEP UP THE SPEED. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE ON MY WAY HOME. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, VEHICLE STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. SEL CAME ON AND ERROR CODE SAID "CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR". TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL GARAGE AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON NISSAN ALTIMA. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THIS CAR OR SENSOR BUT THEY COULD REPROGRAM THE ECM TO FIX IT. WENT ONLINE AND I SEE NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS SENSOR. NISSAN MECHANIC ADMITTED THE SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS REDESIGNED TO CORRECT THE ERROR AND INCLUDES A CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR AS WELL SINCE THEY GO OUT FREQUENTLY AS WELL. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WE STOPPED AT A REST AREA. WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE THE REST AREA THE CAR WOULD NOT START. AFTER A FEW TRIES IT FINALLY STARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS STARTING THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON IT. HE CALLED AND SAID IT WAS A SENSOR. AFTER LOOKING UP THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE HE TOLD ME MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM AND TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME MY CAR DID NOT HAVE A RECALL ON IT. WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 580 IN EMERYVILLE CALIFORNIA IN EVENING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC MY CAR BEGAN TO JERK RAPIDLY AND THEN STOPPED WHILE IN TRAFFIC, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AFTER 5 ATTEMPTS THE CAR STARTED. THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE TRAVELING TO WORK ON HIGHWAY 50 AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS. THIS MAKES ME NERVOUS AND FEARFUL WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND FINALLY AFTER THE STOPPING MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE INTERSTATE AND AT RED LIGHTS, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND WAS ADVISED MY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE WAS A RECALL PER NISSAN AMERICA FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND WAS ADVISED MY VIN# WAS PART OF THE RECALL BUT THE DAMAGED CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WOULD NOT BE REPLACED, ONLY A RESET OF THE ECM. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ECM WOULD NOT BE RESET DUE TO THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON DUE TO THE FAULTY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. I WAS ALSO CHARGED FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHICH BASICALLY CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM THAT SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS ALREADY AWARE OF PER THE VIN#. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA AND A THE FAULTY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE DUE TO FEAR THAT THE CAR WILL STOP AND CAUSE A PILEUP AND OR EVEN DEATH. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN AMERICA @1 800 647 7261 AND THEY ARE NOT COOPERATIVE. THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE HOWEVER WILL NOT REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THEN I STRONGLY FEEL THAT NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. THE VEHICLE THREW A CODE FOR THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR HAD THAT REPLACED THEN THE VEHICLE THREW A CODE FOR THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. MIDAS REPLACED TWO OF THEM STILL COULD NOT CLEAR THE CODE. THE VEHICLE WILL START IN DRIVE BUT IT WILL SPUTTER WHILE STOPPED LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR COMING TO A STOP THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET STARTED AGAIN.

MY CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF PERIODICALLY WHILE BEING DRIVE AT LOW SPEEDS AND HIGHER OIL CONSUMPTION. THE FIRST TIME OCCURRED ON JUNE 6, 2015 WHILE DRIVING ACROSS WOODYARD ROAD TO PINE VIEW LANE FROM THE CLINTON SHOPPING CENTER. THE SECOND TIME WAS ON FRIDAY JUNE 12, 2015 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE BRANCH AVE METRO PARKING, WITH MY BROTHER ON THE WAY HOME, WHILE TURNING OFF FROM HIGHWAY 5 ON TO SURRATTS ROAD, LEAVING MY BROTHER AND I DANGEROUSLY STUCK THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE OFF CURVE WITH CARS GOING BY BLOWING THEIR HORNS. THE ALTIMA DOES START BACK UP, BUT ONLY AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO. NO APPARENT REASON WHY, NO WARNING LIGHTS. THE CAR HAS BEEN CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN USUAL AND AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND DOES NOT SHUT OFF. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY FOR 6 HOURS IN 10 DEGREE WEATHER. IT WAS REQUIRED TO MOVE THE CAR TO ALLOW ANOTHER VEHICLE TO LEAVE WHEN THE NISSAN WAS DRIVEN FORWARD TO RE-PARK THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE PEDDLE WAS ROCK HARD AND NO BRAKES WERE AVAILABLE CAUSING A COLLISION WITH A GARAGE DOOR. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A VACUUM VALVE, INTEGRAL WITH A VACUUM HOSE. THE DEALER TESTED THE CAR AT 7:30AM ON 1/16/2012 WHEN THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING FOR OVER 24 HOURS IN 23 DEGREE WEATHER, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD (HOWEVER NOT ROCK SOLID) ONCE THE PEDAL WAS PUMPED TWICE THE BRAKES WORKED ACCORDINGLY. THE THEORY WAS THE VALVE WAS NOT FUNCTIONING IN THE COLD WEATHER. THE DEALER TESTED THE THEORY BY REMOVING THE FAULTY PART AND PLACING IT IN THE COLD WEATHER FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES AND REINSTALLED PART BACK INTO THE CAR AND CREATED A SIMILAR SCENARIO WHERE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD WITH LIMITED BRAKES (TEMPERATURE WAS 22 DEGREES). THE PART HAS BEEN REPLACED AND APPEARS TO HAVE SOLVED THE ISSUE. I HAD THE VEHICLE REVIEWED ON APRIL 23, 2013 WITH YOUR ELHART MICHIGAN NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES PINS AND SLIDES HAD NO LUBRICATION IN THEM WHEN MY WIFE PERSONALLY WATCHED THE MECHANIC LUBRICATE THEM WHEN THE MOST RECENT PADS WERE INSTALLED 2 WEEKS AGO. ONE OF THE PINS IS AN AFTERMARKET BECAUSE THE EXISTING ONE WAS FROZEN AT THE SERVICING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I QUESTIONED THE NISSAN SHOP MANAGER WHO CALLED ME REGARDING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR MAINTENANCE OF THIS PARTICULAR AREA OF THE VEHICLE AND HE INDICATED THAT IT IS NOT MENTIONED. I AM NOW IN MY WORDS "STUCK" WITH A SAFETY PART OF MY CAR WHICH I MUST WATCH RELIGIOUSLY AND I CAN EXPECT TO SPEND $1000'S OF DOLLARS IN PARTS AND MAINTENANCE. MY FORD VEHICLE HAS 240,000 MILES AND IS ON ITS 3RD SET OF PADS AND SECOND SET OF FRONT ROTORS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT A PRESTIGIOUS BRAND OF NISSAN IS EXPECTING THEIR CUSTOMERS TO SWALLOW THIS. YES, I AM ALSO ONE OF THOSE CUSTOMERS WHERE YOU REPLACED MY ENGINE AT 11,000 MILES BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL USAGE. AFTER HAVING THE CLUTCH PARTS REPLACED THE PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR A SMALL HANDFUL OF TIMES. NOW, IT IS NEARLY A DAILY OCCURRENCE AND IT IS CONSISTENTLY LASTING LONGER AND LONGER EACH TIME. IN JANUARY OF 2008, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM NISSAN CONCERNING HER VEHICLE NOT HAVING ABS; HOWEVER, THE INFORMATION SHE RECEIVED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED STATED THAT IT DID HAVE ABS. NISSAN HAS ADMITTED VIA A LETTER THAT CERTAIN VEHICLES (MINE IS ONE) ARE SUBJECT TO HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION AND THE RESULT COULD BE A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE. NISSAN HAS ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THIS BY: CHANGING THE OIL AND FILTER, PROMISING TO MONITOR THE LEVEL - SUBJECT TO ANOTHER TRIP TO THE DEALER- AT 700 SUBSEQUENT MILES, THEY WILL THEN PROVIDE AN UNKNOWN 'FIX' TO THE ISSUE IF THE OIL LEVEL HAS DECREASED TO THEIR SATISFACTION, IF NO NOTICEABLE DECREASE IN THEIR PERCEPTION, THEN MONITOR ANOTHER 700 MILES - RETURN TO DEALER AGAIN AND HAVE THEM REVIEW, POSSIBLE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AT THAT TIME. THE CONCERN IS THAT WHEN ONE PURCHASES A NEW VEHICLE, IF THE MANUFACTURE KNEW OF THE DEFECT AND POTENTIAL HAZARD, THEN THE SALE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED. FURTHER, A NEW VEHICLE NOW NEEDS TO BE MONITORED AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER EVERY 700 MILES - I CAN NOT THINK OF AN EXAMPLE OF MORE INCONVENIENCE. THE SAFETY HAZARD OF A FIRE OR BREAKING DOWN - ALL IN A VEHICLE WITH 1500 MILES ON IT IS INCREDULOUS. I CAN NOT LET MY FAMILY DRIVE IN THE CAR AND AM CONCERNED WITH MY OWN SAFETY. A 22000 VEHICLE THAT IS BRAND NEW SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE SOLD AND HAVE CONSUMERS ASKED TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. I DO HOPE THIS IS INVESTIGATED. I UNDERSTAND THAT A TOTAL OF 80000 ALTIMAS WERE AFFECTED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, WHY IT DID NOT STOP SALES IMMEDIATELY AND WHY THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT JUST FIX THE ISSUE. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THE VEHICLES WITHIN THE VIN RANGE THAT ARE ON NISSAN DEALER LOTS ARE BEING SENT BACK TO HAVE THE ENGINES REPLACED. NEXT, A PROBLEM AT 1500 MILES WITH THE TRANSMISSION OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS IN SHIFTING AND MAINTAIN GEAR. THIS RESULTED IN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING AND THE DEALER 'GETTING A PART' TO FIX IT. I have replaced the water pump, the belt, the thermostats, the rotors, the brakes, the fuel pump, the evap vent valve solenoid, the spark plugs, and fuel injectors and my car is STILL throwing the codes P-0462 and P-447. I've checked the wires and they are good. My car keeps misfiring and stalling now and my fuel pump doesn't have a fuel level sensor. The float bar is brand new as well as the fuel pump. And my dashboard speedometer is 10 miles off. I've tried everything and it's still throwing the same codes.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL, CAUSING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO FAIL. IN ADDITION, THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS SITTING ABNORMALLY LOW TO THE GROUND AND WAS SITTING NOTICEABLY LOWER THAN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THE ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,000.

I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THESE RECALLS AND THEY BOTH APPEAR TO BE VERY SERIOUS. 1- (#06V223000) FROM JUNE 2006 INVOLVING "ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING" THAT LISTS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AND POSSIBLY ENGINE FIRE AND 2- (06V0046000) FROM FEB. 2006 INVOLVING REAR SUSPENSION AND POSSIBLY A CRACKED BRACKET. 2006 2.5 ALTIMA SPECIAL EDITION HAS SQUEAKING BRAKES 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASED. CAR HAD 4,000 MILES AND BRAKES ARE SQUEAKING. NISSAN HAS NOT REPAIRED OR REPLACED THE HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION ENGINE RECALL SINCE RECEIVING RECALL NOTIFICATION IN JUNE 2006. NISSAN HAS EVEN TAKEN THE RECALL OFF THE WEBSITE HOWEVER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED IT BECAUSE THERE ARE CARS ON THE LOT WITH REPLACED ENGINES. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA IN MARCH 2006. IT'S NOW AUGUST 2006, AND I AM EXPERIENCING AN OIL LEAK. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT IT WAS LEAKING AT THE SEAL. NOW MY VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER FELL IN THE RANGE OF THE 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA RECALL. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT NISSAN CORPORATE TOLD HIM JUST TO REPLACE THE SEAL. I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT RESPONSE. I WAS NEVER OFFERED A NEW MOTOR. THERE WAS A RECALL SENT TO ME STATING THAT THE CAR HAS A HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION RATE AND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS OF ENGINE FIRES. HOWEVER, THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN PHYSICALLY RECALLED. I HAD BEEN HEARING THE BRAKES SQUEAL AND SCRUB AFTER 3 WEEKS OF HAVING THE CAR, HAVE ONLY HAD 2 MONTHS, FINALLY 2 MONTHS LATER IT WAS FOUND THAT ALL 4 CALIPERS WERE LEAKING. THE PARTS THAT WERE NEEDED WERE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE PARTS WERE SHIPPED IN AND THE BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS, AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence of the contact's friend. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact there was no record that the vehicle was previously repaired under a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 07V527000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 217,636.

MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE LURCHED FORWARD, AS IF IT WAS NOT GETTING GAS. I MADE IT HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. I THOUGHT I HAD PURCHASED BAD GAS. THE NEXT MORNING MY CAR WOULD NOT START, IT TOOK SEVERAL TIMES FOR IT TO FINAL START. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I RAN A SCAN AND THE SCAN SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH I DID AND IT DID NO GOOD. THE ENGINE IS VERY HARD TO START AND IS CONSUMING A LOT OF GAS. THIS PAST WEEKEND THE ENGINE STARTED TO BUCK WHEN IDLING IN TRAFFIC. I WAS AFRAID THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO DIE AND CATCH FIRE. I FOUND A PREVIOUS RECALL THAT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MINE WITH THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. I CONTACTED NISSAN ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID MY ENGINE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC. WAS ABLE TO START BACK UP AND WENT TO PARK. HOOD OF VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY HOT. MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD ISSUES STARTING CAR AFTER HAVING DRIVEN IT. CAR CRANKS FINE IN THE MORNING. I HAVE HAD TO LEAVE HOOD OPEN WHEN I GET HOME TO ALLOW ENGINE TO COOL. CAR WILL START FINE AGAIN AFTER AN HOUR OR TWO BUT SOMETIMES TAKING UP TO 5 HOURS. GO ONLINE AND FIND IN EXCESS OF 160 CONSUMER REPORTS OF THIS VERY CAM AND CRANK PROBLEM AND EVERYONE HAVING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR IT WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT ESPECIALLY BEING THAT MY ENGINE WAS REPLACED SO THE DEFECT IS NOT JUST IN THE ORIGINAL ENGINES. UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE WAS AFFECTED, IF I DIDN'T PROCEED WITH THE RECALL REQUEST MY VEHICLE COULD LEAD TO AN ENGINE FIRE. OF COURSE, THE MYSTERY STILL REMAINS AS TO HOW THE WINDOWS WERE ROLLED DOWN. NO ONE HAS A KEY TO MY CAR AND EACH MORNING/EVENING, I ENSURE THAT THE ALARM IS ON. IF THIS IS SOME SORT OF DEFECT, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. IS IT A WAY FOR SOMEONE TO ROLL DOWN MY ELECTRIC WINDOWS WITHOUT TURNING THE IGNITION? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY VIBRATED, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. I started my vehicle, as usual, and when driving at a very slow speed (neighborhood speed limits) I approached a very busy intersection and the car just stopped. Not only did it stop, it would not steer and a bunch of warning lights came on the dashboard. Tav I believe, oil, check engine light. Even with the key in the acc mode, the power steering was not functioning. Everything just stopped functioning. I know this vehicle was recalled for the same exact thing back in 2008, but obviously it wasn't permanently fixed. Recall #07v-527. If I would have been in the middle of an intersection and this happened I could have been killed.

The contact's sister turned off the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that after refueling, multiple attempts were needed to restart the vehicle. Last year i had the same issues with my 2003 nissan sentra gxe that i am now facing with my 2006 nissan altima. The serpentine belt comes off because of the harmonic balance and this ones ac clutch locked up and is wobbling plus my transmission acts irratic snd the starter csused the cwr to stall and catch fire! Th3 stress and agony of dpending all my savings fixing the car to end up stuck anyways and this is ongoing problems that keep reoccuring in all piece of sh** nissans and they want more money id like to file a lawsuit ! #BOYCOTT NISSAN

UNKNOWN: While driving the car will stall. After restarting it, the car will then be stuck in fifth (highest) gear. The SES (Service engine soon) light comes on. The first time this happened, after the next trip, the SES light went out. Then the same thing happened. This is a danger because if this happens in heavy traffic, it could lead to a collision.

THE REAR SUSPENSION HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE WHEEL WILL SCRAPE AGAINST THE WHEEL WELL. YOU CAN'T FIT MORE THE TWO PEOPLE IN THE BACK SEAT DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE TWO FRONT EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS DON'T PROVIDE ADEQUATE LIGHTING TO EVEN SEE THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. ITS EXTREMELY LOW/DENSE LIGHTING EVEN AFTER CHANGING OUT THE BULBS. THE ELECTRICAL IGNITION SWITCH TO START THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN A PROBLEM. I HAVE TO TURN THE KEY, WAIT, TURN IT AGAIN, WAIT FOR THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS TO COME ON, THEN FINALLY THE CAR WILL START. THE POWER TRAIN GEAR CONTROL IS ANOTHER WAITING GAME. TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, I FIRST HAVE TO SLOWLY SHIFT THOUGH EACH GEAR BEFORE FINALLY PUTTING INTO DRIVE. ONCE I DO PUT IT INTO DRIVE THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY JOLT FORWARD BEFORE I'M ABLE TO START DRIVING THE CAR. I RECENTLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED CAUSE IT JUST STOPPED WHILE IN MOTION AND STRUGGLED TO START UP AGAIN. IT FINALLY DID, BUT IT COULDN'T DRIVE OVER 1ST GEAR. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR HOME. ALSO, FEW YRS BACK I HAD THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED CAUSE THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT WOULD ALSO NOT START UP AGAIN IF I HAD JUST TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON 9/19/2018. PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE SERVICE THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS RUSTING UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SIDE. I COULDN'T PICTURE WHAT THEY WERE DESCRIBING SO I ASKED TO SEE AND I TOOK A PICTURE. SUBSEQUENTLY, I WAS INFORMED BY SOMEONE ELSE (NOT NISSAN) THAT THIS HAS BEEN A LONG STANDING ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL & YEAR (2006). IT POTENTIALLY COULD AFFECT MY SUSPENSION/STEERING AND ALSO CAUSE A PASSENGER TO FALL THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. I FOUND OUT THAT THEY EVEN SENT OUT A 13 PAGE ILLUSTRATED BULLETIN TITLED "FLOOR PANEL REPAIR" ON 7/6/2015 TO THE DEALERS ABOUT A KIT THEY DEVELOPED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM; YET, THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL. JUST TODAY, 12/11/19, I INCIDENTALLY FOUND OUT MY PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP HAS HAD NUMEROUS CASES FOR THE NISSAN PATHFINDER. UNSURE OF WHAT YEAR(S) BUT IT WAS A HUGE ISSUE AND THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A RECALL IN THOSE INSTANCES. THERE IS A HISTORY OF THIS WITH ALTIMAS 2002-2006 & MAXIMAS 2004-2008. I'VE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE BULLETIN. BUT WHAT MADE MATTERS WORSE WAS BETWEEN 1/9/19-3/20/19 THERE WERE A NUMBER OF SEVERE POTHOLES ON NJ 95 SOUTH OF WHICH KNOCKED MY SUSPENSION/STEERING OFF. (55-60MPH). IT FELT LIKE ALL OF THE WHEELS WERE COMING OFF. THIS ADDS TO THE RISK THE ERRODING PANEL LEADING TO THE AXLES, OTHER SUSPENSION, ETC. POSES & COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING.

ROAD TRIP AND WHILE DRIVING 75MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL THE CAR BUCKED. AFTER REACHING OUR DESTINATION AND TURNING THE CAR OFF WE HAD TROUBLE RESTARTING IT. WHEN IT FINALLY STARTED THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND CODES CAME UP FOR THE CAM AND CRANK SHAFT SENSORS. REPLACED THESE SENSORS AND CLEARED CODES. DROVE CAR AWAY AND WITHIN 5MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND AGAIN EXCESSIVE CRANKING WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR. BROUGHT IT BACK TO MECHANIC AND THE BRAND NEW CAM SENSOR THAT WAS REPLACED LESS THAN 24HRS BEFORE TESTED OUT BAD. REPLACED SENSOR AGAIN AND CLEARED CODE AND CODE CAME UP FOR HIGH SPEED INPUT SENSOR ALONG WITH THE SAME CODES FOR CAM SHAFT AND CRANK SHAFT SENSORS. AGAIN TROUBLE STARTING VEHICLE. DROVE CAR 750MI. BACK HOME WITHOUT TURNING THE CAR OFF FOR FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO START AGAIN. DEALING WITH A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND GET THIS FIXED. THIS ISSUE WAS UNDER RECALL BEFORE. THE BUCKING OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING AT 75MPH WAS TERRIFYING AND SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS!

WHILE DRIVING ON THE I95 THE CAR SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART AT 55MPH. THANK GOD, I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE GUARDRAIL. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC THAT INFORMED ME IT APPEARED TO BE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND SAID SINCE IT WAS A RECALL ITEM I SHOULD HAVE IT BROUGHT TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MILLER NISSAN IN FAIRFIELD CT AND INFORMED THEM OF MY MECHANICS FINDINGS. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND REPLACED IT EVEN WITH ME EXPRESSING THAT MY CURRENT MECHANIC ALREADY CHECKED THAT. AFTER REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID IT STILL WASN'T WORKING. IT ENDED UP BEING THE ECM ALONG WITH ANOTHER SENSOR!! I EXPRESSED HOW UPSET I WAS THAT THIS SENSOR FAILED WHY I WAS DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY! I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH NISSAN CORPORATE RECALL DEPARTMENT BECAUSE EVERYTHING I'M READING IS STILL INDICATING THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR COULD CAUSE MALFUNCTIONS IN OTHER SENSORS IN THE CAR!! I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATING RECENTLY. I GOT MY REAR ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED AT THE MANUFACTURE AND THOUGHT THIS WOULD CURE THE PROBLEM, THEN WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO GET MY FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS DONE TO PREVENT THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I JUST GOT MY ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED IN THE CAR 9 MONTHS AGO. I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS CAR. I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION IS ABOUT TO PLAY OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2006. TWO WEEKS LATER THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK AND THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER, I NOTICED THAT THE HEATING SYSTEM DID NOT WORK IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE HEAT BLEW OUT COLD AIR. I KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG, THEREFORE I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD "THAT IS THE WAY NEW MODELS ARE MADE". THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. IN THE WINTER WHEN THE CAR IS NOT MOVING (SUCH AS AT A RED LIGHT) COLD AIR BLOWS IN THE CAR, NOT HEAT. I HAVE EXPERIENCED RATTLING NOISES WITH MY CAR. IT CAN BE HEARD WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN 2011 TO HAVE IT CHECKED. I GOT THE CAR FIXED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE NOISE CONTINUED. EACH YEAR I HAVE GOTTEN MY ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED IN THE FRONT AND REAR. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS NORMAL. I HAVE HAD MY CAR 5.5 YEARS WITH 79K MILES. PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURRED WITH THE ELECTRICAL PART OF THE CAR. I PURCHASED MY 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R AROUND 4/18/2008 WITH AROUND 34,000 MILES. A FEW DAYS LATER, I NOTICED THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS STICKING DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND WOULDN'T COME BACK UP. THE CAR BASICALLY DID A FULL "U" FROM THE PARKING SPOT TO THE SIDEWALK. I PURCHASE 2006 NISSAN ALTIMA FROM EASTERN CAROLINA NISSAN IN MAY 2006. I HAVE BEEN HEARING A RATTLING NOISE 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE. I NOTIFIED NISSAN AND THEY STATED THAT IS WAS SPARK KNOCKING BUT WHEN I CONTACTED THEM TO INQUIRE ON SERVICE REPORT, NOT NOTED. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON/OFF DURING DRIVING. THE DOORS LOCK WHEN KEYS ARE IN AND CAR IS STARTED/OFF. *NM

THE HEATER/AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER TENDS TO NOT OPERATE PERIODICALLY! EXAMPLES: ON A COLD MORNING, THE CAR HAD TO BE RETURNED HOME SINCE THERE WAS NO BLOWER. ON A DAMP DAY, THE INTERIOR WINDOWS COULD NOT BE DEFOGGED DUE TO NO BLOWER. ON A DAMP MORNING, THE FROST ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE WINDSHIELD COULD NOT BE CLEARED BY THE DEFROST SETTING SINCE THE BLOWER FAILED TO OPERATE. WE WONDER HOW SAFE THIS VEHICLE WOULD BE DURING A PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN! OR DURING A SNOWFALL? PLEASE ADVISE ON WHAT ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO REMEDY THIS SERIOUS DEFECT.
