How to read a Nissan 350Z VIN — every digit explained

Every Nissan 350Z carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.

FIG.02
1–3 · WMI1HG
4–8 · VDSCM826
9 · Check5
10 · YearR
11 · PlantA
12–17 · Serial004352
  • WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. Tells you it's a Nissan and the country it was built in.
  • VDS (4–8) — model, body style, engine, trim & restraints. The 8th digit is the engine code.

  • Model year (10) — the year it was built (e.g. R = 2024, S = 2025).
  • Plant (11) — which factory assembled this 350Z.
  • Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.

2006 350Z

Sometimes driving, i hear light crackling noise comes and goes. For 9 months checkup, i mentioned it to dealer. He said they test drove it and everything was fine. On sat evening, 8-25, the front rt side of rim cracked & came out bouncing off freeway! Scary & dangerous! We just let the car slide and scrape on three wheels off the next exit. I had spare tire put on & slowly got the car back home, in shock! Monday i had car towed to nearest dealer & they weren't able to fix my car because of the wheels. I didn't know why....but manager there called for my permission to have it towed back to my dealer with all charges paid by dealer. I was disappointed, disrespected, mistreated,& lied to. Bought car in good faith & they lied to me some more! I called nis manuf consumer affairs & found out that those rims were dipped chrome! Dealer had nerve to give me same rims & try to return car back with damage breaking the discs & lower arm. Also repainted the scraped bumper. Have pics of sloppy work with camera phone. I explained to them i want it fixed brand new like when i first drove off that lot with it and i thought they understood. I still need pro to thoroughly inspect car. Although repairs made, i don't feel safe driving car anymore. I said fix car like when i first bought it- before the defective wheel came off with real rims. He ordered & placed it on my car. Sat night, dealer called to pick car up. I asked for invoice and papers. They said come back mon. Asked them to hand write that the rims are stocked & everything new like wanted so i can drive off feeling safe. They said can't. Again i left disappointed. Noticed headlights dimmer than before & one side higher than the other. Mon, told service manager about lights. Response, "we're supposed to just replace wheels." don't know if i have right wheels or not. I need a new car .dealer not concerned with public safety, only profits. I hurt emotionally & physically! *tr

2005 350Z

Test drove this car at toyota of rock hill. Sales manager did not want me to take it on the interstate. I refused to buy it unless i could take it there. Went approximately 1 mile. With flow of traffic in right lane, being passed on left. Not speeding. Car started fishtailing. Slid sideways to the right and off road. I was going straight when car malfunctioned. This seems to be a more prevalent issue with the 04 model. *tr

2003 350Z

Nissan 350z. Lost control of car just changing lanes at 45 mph. Car spun sideway and when i tried to recover, steering was almost impossible as tires seemed to be just gliding wherever they wanted to go. I am just now connecting this incident to the just became aware of tire and front end problem that nissan seems to be having with this vehicle. I only wish somebody had told me my front end was not aligned and tracking correctly and that my tires were worn away on the inner edges. The failure to notify me placed me in a circumstance that allowed me to think the vehicle i was driving was safe and would respond when i needed it to. My initial thinking of a slick road, which really wasn't present, is now apparent to me to be a front end which can wander and cause abrupt alterations in tracking due to tire wear and improper alignment. Fortunately, the only bruised item was the car. I hope it doesn't lead to a human. *ak *nm the consumers vehicle failed the massachusetts safety inspection because of bad tires. *tc

2007 350Z

Car was making a rattling noise from underneath since i bought it new also there was a creaking noise from the left rear tire from day 1 now the car skips at 1000 rpms of course nissan does not help. *tr

2005 350Z

I have had 3 recent nissan vehicles that have had serious mechanical issues, 1st 2006 nissan murano (only owner) 2nd 2004 nissan 350z 3rd 2005 nissan 350z which each of these vehicles are over $30,000 and top models of manufacturer. The murano which i had to sell july 2011 due to buying a home and could not deal with the problems that it was having on a regular basis....the 2004 350z i bought off a private seller, it looked good and boy was i wrong the stereo, electrical components, seats, overheating, horrible roar from the rear end, tires, windows failing, need i say more!!!!! Now to the car i am currently not using due to it being in the shop for the past 3+weeks, and finally having to drive with the tech to let him witness the defect as i drove.....this has been a huge headache to go through this with 3 new vehicles from 1 manufacturer, and them not accepting any responsibility for. They advised that my clutch had to be replaced and it was due to normal wear and tear. I don't think so the car has approx 74000 miles i bought with 47198. In march 2011 after numerous visits and calls to dealership they finally replaced the master and slave cylinder at my request because i researched to find many complaints for the same components and troubles . I could go on but i am just [xxx] sick of this crap from nissan and i am ready to blow my top!!!!! Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) *kb

2005 350Z

I bought my car new. At 13k miles, the crankshaft position went out and there was a rattle in the rearend. The dealer fixed both problems. But now at 26k miles, the engine is knocking hard and it turned out my engine is burning oil. Btw, the rattle in the rearend is back again. I bought my car for a total of $32,000 and i don't deserve to make a few trips to the dealership for repairs already when i've only had my car for 3 years with under 30k miles only! *tr

2005 350Z

Driver experienced excessive road noise at any speed while traveling on the highway. Driver took vehicleto the dealer, and mechanic determined that the tires and wheel specification needed changing. Driver informed the mechanic that the problem still existed, and had not been be resolved. *ak

2004 350Z

While making a normal left turn through an intersection my car began to spin. After a complete 360 degree spin and smack into a curb, there was slight damage to left rear exterior wheel well. This alignment issue and premature tire wear problem needs to be rectified. Someone has to do something. Under normal driving conditions to do a complete 360 spin out is ridiculous. I am lucky no one smacked into me after i stopped. I have had my tires replaced twice on the right rear and once on the left rear because of the inner tire wear. I have had an alignment done also. All this was prior to my spin out. Something is not right with this car. Any answers, solutions, recommendations? I have read numerous complaints on this site about the same problem i am having. Are you even doing anything with these complaints? From what everyone else has written, no one has done a thing. There are no recalls or anything for this issue. Please address this problem immediately before someone winds up getting hurt from this. Obviously the dealership wont do a thing it will be way too costly for them. But for mine and the rest of the drivers on the roads safety, make something happen. Give us a recall to fix this ongoing problem. Its been almost 6 years and still no solution. Come on guys, i know your better than that. Our safety is now in your hands. *tr

2004 350Z

Front end mis-aligned at factory causing severe cupping of front tires at 13,000 miles. Friend had same problem. I had car into dealer 2 weeks before. Dealer did not say anything in spite of safety check. Matter of time before a blowout. After i found the problem, dealer aligned front end and pro-rated replacement tires. I wrote a letter to nissan. Customer service says no recall planned. Very dangerous. *tr

2004 350Z

I have an 2004 350z touring. I bought the car with 16,,000 miles on it. Now, it has 30000 miles on it. In the 14000 mile range the tires on the front feathered completely due to sever negative camber. Took vehicle to victory nissan of richmond several times, and they only aligned the car and charge me for it. I have an appointment on 6/20/2007 to go to dealer and will demand new tires as the problem has not been fixed. *ak

While in rush hour traffic my clutch pedal stuck to the floor causing the car to fill with smoke and rendering the car temporally inoperable after a few minutes i pumped the pedal and was able to continue home. The next morning the dealer informed me that i had worn out a clutch in 4000 miles and they would not warranty my problem. *tr

2006 350Z

The date is when i received my car from the body shop after 3-car wreck. Drove it to work and the car had no power to climb a hill. Called insurance company, took it back they did no repairs to the engine, so it went to the dealership. Shortly afterwards the car wasn't downshifting properly, then it started making a sound like it was stuck in a spin cycle and shoot out causing the car to go faster. Took it back to the dealership nothing. So with the car doing the spin cycle and shooting out fast, it started making this thumping noise from under the hood when coming to a stop. This was so frequent i thought the engine was about drop out, so i took it to transmission shop; they found a code for an electrical solenoid and reset it. I was instructed to take it to the dealership if it happens again. A week later it did but all the time. Took the car back to the dealership, this time they witness the problem and called the corporation tech's; who recommended to replace idle relearn and odometer cluster (miles off). They were replaced but my check engine light came on, insurance company sent a third party inspector out. He found out that the transmission and engine are bad and is not related to the accident. I called nissan corporation received a claim number, a month later they called to say they are not going to pay for the repairs. I asked the dealership to checkout my parking brake because the light for it didn't come on with the old odometer cluster because i drove my car home from their shop and it was engaged but nothing indicating that it was. My airbags did not explode from the wreck either and also the car tires will not maintain the proper air pressure. Had to get my oil recheck several times after getting the oil changed. The car is unsafe to drive here in hawaii with all this traffic, still at the dealership. I have the report from the inspector if you want it. *tr

2006 350Z

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 nissan 350z. The contact stated that the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. He mentioned that when the pedal was engaged the vehicle did not have any power and when it was half way up as a result a burning smell came through the vents. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the clutch was defective and needed to be replaced. The transmission, the master cylinder and the slave cylinder were also replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 64,000.

2003 350Z

Tl*the contact owns a 2003 nissan 350z. The contact purchased the vehicle only for long distance driving. As soon as she began driving the vehicle, she smelled rubber inside the passenger compartment. The dealer stated that the smell would dissipate and was present because the vehicle was new; however, the odor remained. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle would not shift from second into third gear. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle coasted to the side of the road and was towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that the clutch and the fly wheel were burnt. The contact called nissan customer service to assist with the cost because it was no longer under warranty; however, they denied her claim. She wants nissan to assist with the $2,300 repair cost. The failure mileage was 17,000. Updated 11/7/08 *cn updated 11/13/08. *jb

2008 350Z

I was driving my 08 350z (currently has 70k miles) on the highway approx 60 mph when i attempted to downshift for my exit. The clutch pedal went down and stuck when i shifted out of 6th and the car wouldn't go into any gear. I missed the exit and pulled to the side of the highway and stopped. Turns out the slave cylinder that had been replaced 20k miles ago under recall had gone bad again! Even more impressive is that in 68k miles, i've had to have the slave replaced 2x, clutch replaced 3x, flywheel resurfaced 2x, flywheel replaced 1x, clutch master cylinder replaced 1x, multiple trans services, multiple times bleeding the clutch. All work done at dealer using oem parts. This is a known 350z defect and nissan should take responsibility for replacing the clutch system w/ an improved design before more people are injured or killed!

2008 350Z

Csc failure 6 times. Failure occured in multiple places, on the highway, side streets, country road.

2008 350Z

I purchased my 08 350z grand touring october 5, 2015 from hoy fox toyota in el paso tx. 3 days later it left me stranded. The clutch stayed to the floor and it wouldn't gear. They sold it to me saying it had a new clutch so i decided after test driving it to take it. I had to wait 30 days for my power train warranty to kick in so i can make a claim. Initially it was the master cylinder which was covered. However, that was not the case. Later they said i needed a whole new clutch kit for around 2800. Of course i don't have that amount of money. I purchased and exedy aftermarket clutch , flywheel and pressure plate as they told me to do. Took it home november 15 and it worked fine for several months. It then began to leak clutch fluid and clutch felt soft. I went back and they kept telling me to go to nissan. I paid for a diagnosis at viva nissan in el paso tx and the concentric slave cylinder was the issue. I had to go back and forth and try to get the help to fix this issue. I bought a slave cylinder online because i didn't know i had that part under warranty. I tried talking to them at dealership but no help until i made a bad review. They took the car in and they said no worries we will fix it. They replaced the slave cylinder and in 3 days once again it failed. Plastic nissan parts are no good. They get damaged easily and even new cars with less than 5000 miles need it all replaced. The only solution we all might have is a heavy duty slave cylinder from zspeedsports and its expensive. I've been reading so many cases and we all have the same issues. It's ridiculous what we have to go through and for nissan not to solve this issue immediately . I have no car and its at dealership once again for the third time. I have a case number 23013379. These vehicles need to be replaced and fixed. Too many cases and no help from dealership.

I was driving on the express way a motorcycle ahead of me applied his brakes i followed suit. The 350z roadster began to swerve and spin uncontrollably and stopped after i hit the sid rail resulting in motorcyclist and myself going to hospital the issues with the tires on the 350z are well known by consumers, nissan, and their dealerships. I have taken the car on at least three occasions to the dealership for examination and possible repairs but the tire defect and handling remain. This is unfortunate since they have tried to unsuccesfully fix the issue on other model years of this vehicle

I was involved in an accident which was very similar to one i had 2 years ago in the same car, only i do not remember as much as i do from the first one. The first accident occurred approximately august of 2006. I was driving on the freeway in very light traffic, when all of a sudden my car started to fish-tail. I was on the fast lane and hit the center divider and spun and hit it again. I managed to get over to the shoulder without hitting anyone or anyone hitting me. My car was crashed on the left side mainly near left tire and the bumper, some damage was on the left rear tire as well. I had the car repaired and the tires were changed. The second accident i do not remember as much because the impact was stronger and it knocked me unconscious and it was raining. The damage on the car was very similar to the first accident only there is alot more body damage. The highway patrol said that i had hit the center divider and spun. The car is not safe at all and there is a no reason that a sports car should be fish-tailing or lose treading in the rain. These cars should be made resistant to such weather and should tires should not be balding so quickly. The 2003 and 2004 nissans have had recalls for premature feathering/weathering of the tires. The tires tend to start balding too soon, thus causing not enough traction. This clearly would cause the car to fish-tail. *tr

*tc

I recently purchased a nissan 2007, 350z from a local dealership. Upon noticing the tpms light on, a long series of events led us to discover that the wheels and tires on the car are not original equipment. The dealership took delivery of the car, sold it to original owner, serviced it and resold it to us. They will do nothing to give us information or satisfaction regarding this matter. I have no way to be sure the vehicle is safe with these wheels and i am afraid to drive it. Please advise. *tr

I am the owner of a 2006 nissan 350z coupe. My car came stock with bridgestone potenza re050a tires, which have a treadwear rating of 140. These stock tires lasted 22,000 miles, which is in line with my expectations. I replaced them with the higher treadwear re-11 tires, which have a treadwear rating of 180. These tires have completely worn out after only 5,500 miles. I feel bridgestone has a faulty rubber mixture or else there is fraud in their treadwear methodology. I have not changed my driving habits or ever gone racing in any manner with these new tires. The re-11s need to be investigated for accurate treadwear. *tr

I was involved in a near fatal auto accident, which nissan didn't report to the death and injury reports done every quarter per annual year. The accident almost left me paralyzed and i broke over 6 bones in various body part locations due to the car not living up to the "safety" features the maker boasted to have which falsely lead me to buy the car and nearly killed me during an accident, at no fault of mine. The accident was on 1-18-2006, the vehicle a total loss, and occurred in arizona on interstate 51 in phoenix az. I was rear ended, while sitting in traffic pile-up during rush hour traffic. The other driver was estimated to be driving upon impact at 43 mph. I had my sealtbelt on, which broke my collarbone, and a rib. I also ruptured a silicone breast implant from the force of the car into the steering wheel. The air bags didn't deploy, the leg and feet compartment for the driver area caused one foot i had on the brake, to break the sessamoid bone; the rt knee was thrown into the steering column and i broke my patella and tore my meniscus. Both required surgery, both on opposite legs. I required surgery for the ruptured implant. My neck was fractured and the blow and whiplash from the inadequate head restraint caused vertigo for nearly 3 months. I suffered brain bruising and swelling from hitting my head against the headrest after being thrust forward without an airbag to cushion the jolting of the neck and spine. My thoracic spine was fractured, and remains that way since i've opted not to have surgery. The lumbar spine has a ruptured disk and developed a mass from the impact blunt force trauma that developed from the other drivers car hitting my rear end of the car and the seat thrusting all the contents of the vehicles structure into the seat behind where i sat. I had surgery on the removal of the mass and the lumbar spine repair 3 times. My life was completely destroyed as a result of the false misleading claims the nissan manufacturer and dealer claimed. *tr

Oil consumption, 350z engine blown, in less then a year. While going to work on a complete stop at a red light, engine blows and car gets on fire underneath, lucky there was a gas-station next to me to borrow an extinguisher... Police came to help a little later, and said i couldn't file a report. Called insurance, and said they would not cover it, called nissan and they didn't even cover my rental while they inspected the car for over 3 months... They wanted 6k for new engine, after blaming me, telling me "this car was not build to be pushed, you drive it slow"... This forced me to let the car into voluntary repossesion and damage my credit, until this day they are still charging me for the leftover fees... Later i found out that this was a really common problem and there is a lot of people that still have not gotten this resolved...beware. My 3rd nissan, and what a disappointment, we've had about 10 nissans in the family, but no more nissans for us. *tr

This has happened three times now. I have been driving my 350 down the highway at about 65 mph and it just stops running i can push the pedal down and nothing happens. I had it towed into the dealership the first time and they said it was the cam shaft sensor. No big deal right? Well about 2000 miles later it happened again same exact thing. On my way to work in rush hour traffic the car just stopped again, and i was almost rear ended. After sitting in the fast lane for about 3 minutes the car finally started again and i got out of the way and they towed my car to the dealership again. The call came that for the second time the cam shaft sensor was bad, it was replaced again. The last time this happened i was on my way home and the car started doing the same thing. This time i smelled smoke like something was on fire. The car was towed and the call came the next day saying the cam shaft sensor went out again and that this caused the catalytic converter to brake and the beads were sucked up into the engine which caused the engine to catch on fire. *jb

On 10/6/2010 i took my vehicle in for an oil change and evaluation of problem in shifting manual transmission. The transmission had problem with 1-2 and 4-3 shifts with grinding and difficulty shifting. The car was found to have a faulty transmission. The vehicle was also found to have, as stated by the tech, no visible oil in the engine. This indicates a consumption of 5+ quarts within 6500 miles. A tsb by nissan: ntb07-088 dates back to 2007 of high oil consumption. The newest tsb (ntb07-088d) only replaces the short-block of the engine as was done by the dealer. This has not addressed the damage of the engine due to oil starvation, as the tsb covers only partial oil consumption, not near total as in this case. As of the repair, the engine has a rougher idle and the new transmission is still difficult to shift from now 1-2 and 5-6. *tr

I purchased a 2006 nissan 350 z in 2009 with a clean title and was excited about the purchase initially however, to my dismay i began noticing the car was consuming oil at an unusual rate. This first symptom i observed was a rattling noise originating from under the hood. I then checked all my fluids and noticed that the motor oil dipstick was not registering oil, i then proceeded to correct the oil level. I noticed that about three (3) months later the rattling noise return and upon checking the car was without oil again. I have noticed that it has became necessary for me to refill the engine with motor oil roughly every three (3) months. I conducted some research online whereby it was discovered that 2006 nissan 350 z's where synonymous with mysteriously consuming oil. I have contacted nissan of north america where i was giving the run around. I am asking nhtsa to assist in whatever way possible to have the oil consumption issue with 2006 nissan 350 z's remedied, thanks. *tr

Oil consumption. I have a 2006 350z with 22k miles on and at my last oil change i noticed about 1.5 quart oil consumption in less than 3000 miles. I own a 2006 nissan 350z coupe that consumes entirely too much oil. I regularly change the oil myself every 3000 miles, yet in between changes the vehicle consumes anywhere from 2 to 4 quarts. 2006 350Z

I bought a 2006 nissan 350z. One morning after about 4,000 miles of mostly highway driving, i heard a strange sound coming from under the hood that sounded like valve tapping. It got louder and louder as the engine got warmer. I recognized the sound from an old work van that i used to have before the engine blew due to it having no oil. Sure enough, the crankcase was empty. There was no oil and the engine took a full 5 quarts of oil. There are no external oil leaks on the engine. I found out that the nissan "revup" engines in the 2006 350z have an oil consumption problem. I took the car to a nissan dealership, where, after an oil consumption test, informed me that burning 1 quart of oil per 1,000 miles is normal. Nissan is aware of the problem and has issued a tsb. They need to do a recall, an engine seizing can lead to an accident and kill people. Thanks for listening. *tr

*tr

I financed my vehicle in march 2015 this year and in 4 months i've had so many problems i hate my car now but i'm stuck with the cost. The check engine light never went off, i never had a test drive, car cuts off on me on the highway, had to get a battery change, had to get a oil change, breaks are squeeking, and i just got towed from pa back to ny cause now the dealer says my motor blew out???? I don't drive far cause my job not far and when i decided to go visit family i got stuck on pa highway with my kids!!! I was sold a lemon! Cost me more money out my pocket for a hotel room and bus ticket to get back home now want $1400 to fix the car engine that i can't afford!!!.... This has to be hell i'm in!!!!!

2007 350Z

The car is not safe to drive due to the clutch being faulty. It loses pressure every now and then, and i have to pick up the clutch with my foot manually off the floor. This is very dangerous and should be recalled on all 2007 and 2008 350z's. Nissan changed the clutch slave cylinder and master clutch cylinders from 2007 to 2008, hence only these model years have this problem. People have complained numerous times and they did recall a clutch slave cylinder but even after they did that, it has the same problem. If you replace a part with the same defective part it will break down again and again... I've calculated how much it would cost to get a new clutch and replace all the defective parts with stronger parts that people have used and reviewed over a long period of time. It will cost me about $2000 just to get the clutch parts and installation. This is ridiculous for something that has such an important job in a car. If the clutch pedal loses pressure or goes down and doesn't come back up, you can get in a serious accident or even worse, death. Please help us 350z owners and ensure that the manufacturer provides safety in these vehicles.. *tr

Issue with cam shaft sensor failure. Replaced bank 2 and now bank 1. This is a known issue according to all of the people complaining. This was part of a recall for 2003 models, but not for 2006 models. Car has 121,000 miles and runs smooth, except for the cam shaft sensor failures. It is becoming dangerous, because it is killing the engine when it trips and having that happen at 70mph on the interstate is a concern for injury.

2005 350Z

While driving at around 40mph, my 2005 nissan 350z (41xxx miles) shut down completely. No power, brakes, steering, anything. I glided to a stop and pulled over as best as i could. Every indicator light came on: check engine, service soon, tire pressure, etc. I was on a flat, busy city street going straight when this happened. Prior to this, i had no indication of a potential problem. No check engine light, etc. I called aaa and after about 20 minutes, decided to see if it would start so i could move to a safer place. It started right up. I've since been able to start and drive but this was extremely dangerous. Had this happened on the freeway, it could have been a catastrophe for me and the drivers around me. It's a very concerning safety issue. I've read it is ongoing with nissans the same age as mine. Some were recalled and repaired but i looked up my vin and it's not covered. Taking it to a dealer tomorrow but appreciate any help reporting and resolving this issue. Thanks.

2005 350Z

My 2005 350z has been having oil consumption issues. This all started after several thousand miles after i had the original engine replaced for the same issue. While driving, after only 3000 miles after a oil change the engine began to knock very loudly. The noise so bad i had to pull over and stop the car and have it towed to my mechanic. Not a nissan dealer. Es technical sports looked into it and notified me that there was no oil in the engine. They place two quarts of oil into the engine and i was able to drive over to gardena nissan in southern ca. From that day i have been dealing with them on this issue. This started in 2010 and i have been doing oil consumption tests since. The variation of the amount of oil used is normal to the point that the engine needs to use the nissan synthetic oil to the point of i have to use tradition motor oil. All the same the car would not last over 3000 mile without the engine knocking because of the lack of oil. The synthetic oil change i was told that i needed to return the car at 7,500 miles for the next oil change. Well i was back at 3,500 without any oil in the engine. The last set of consumption test reveled that after 1000 miles the oils was down 19 mm. The next consumption test after 1000 miles showed the oil was down 29mm. The engine after another 35,000 miles is consuming so much oil that i can not drive it. This is exactly what happened in the first 36,000 miles before i had to have nissan replace the engine. Now i have been waiting for 3 weeks without a car for nissan to inform gardena nissan on what to do with my car. I can't sit and sit with a engine that will blow up if i drive it. I have been searching on the web and this is a issue with the nissan vehicles. The infinity g35 has the same oil consumption issue. *tr

*tr

2004 350Z

I purchased a new 350z car from antioch (california) nissan dealership in 2004 with chromed alloy wheels. In addition, i purchased an extended warranty. On the below date a vacaville nissan mechanic was test driving my vehicle when the right front wheel cracked around the lug nuts and fell off in their parking lot causing damage to my vehicle and unrepairable damage to the rim. Nissan corporation has issued bulletins to the dealership not to chrome alloy wheels for safety and performance reasons. I was not notified of this status...only after the accident did the vacaville service manager give me a copy of their bulletin dated 9/07. It stated my warranty is void as a result of the dealership chroming the alloy wheels as verified by the corporate warranty office . I have contacted both dealerships and their corporate consumer affairs office to no avail. How many other cars were sold with unsafe chromed alloyed wheels? How do i retrieve my out of pocket expenses of car repairs, car rental, and replacement of defective wheels? *tr

My 24 year old daughter had just came off the on ramp and began merging onto highway 99 northbound when she heard a loud bang and felt her car drop as if she had a flat tire, as she began pulling off the freeway making her way to the shoulder she saw her tire pass her up and continue down the freeway where it continued alone for about 100 yards and by sheer luck ended up along the guard railing and did not cause any accidents or injuries as many have reported happened to them. Her passenger side rear wheel broke off leaving the center of the wheel and 5 lug nuts remaining, the entire center of the wheel remained on the car, all 5 wheel spokes were broken off due to cracking, i inspected her remaining wheels and found them all ready to fail evidencing cracks on most wheel spokes

My wife has taken her 350z into the dealership multiple times for a low tire pressure indicator light. Everytime, they have been unable to determine the cause. This most recent time, however, she took the car in on 3/16/2012. While she waited, the mechanic and service tech inspected the vehicle. Upon completion of inspection, they informed her that three of the four rims had noticeable cracks in them. She was instructed to return with the vehicle on 3/19/2012 and the dealership would determine whether or not nissan would pay for the replacement as, according to the service technician, is a known issue on these rims. I have called nissan to learn that they do not have a recall on these rims but through internet searches have found out that this is a common issue. I find it disturbing that nissan knows about this issue, there have been many complaints and/or accidents caused by these rims and yet nothing is being done to rectify the problem. *js

The fuel gauge doesn't accurately reflect the amount of gasoline in the fuel tank. Examples include when the fuel tank is filled to the point of overflowing, the fuel gauge randomly reports, 3/4, 1/2 1/4 and sometimes empty. The fuel gauge randomly reports different fuel levels each time the ignition is turned on. Further research of the described matter on various online 350z forums indicate the same problem exists for many other 350z owners, which indicates a product defect. The forum that follows is one of many examples: http://my350z.com/forum/maintenance-and-repair/501507-fix-for-gas-gauge-fluctuations-hard-to-fill.html. *tr

I have a 2004 350z nissan i bought used in 2007 @ 16k miles. I'm unable to fill the fuel tank completely. Apparently the fuel nozzle sensor detects the tank as filled when it is not. Before tank fuel gauge shows 3/4 filled @ 12-13 gallons when nozzle shuts off randomly. Otherwise i could fill up no problem. However, now it's only allowing about 1/2 tank to fill (about 7 gallons) consistently. I'm having to refuel several times in any given week. Nothing has been replaced on the car yet, but i understand that there was a recall that i was unaware of. *tr

2004 350Z

The fuel gauge in my 2004 nissan 350z fluctuates up and down. It happens after fueling, and upon driving the car. I have taken the car to 2 different nissan service depts. For repair. The first time, they said it was a faulty fuel sensor, and replaced it. They said it was fixed, but when i drove it, the gauge fluctuated again. Took it back, but they said there was nothing wrong with it and couldn't do anything else since there were no codes coming from the computer. So took my car to a 2nd nissan serv. Dept and they said they fixed it by replacing the other fuel sensor (since there are 2), but still faulty. I do not know how much gas i have in my tank at anytime. It is most dangerous while driving and the fuel tank empty warning light suddenly comes on, after the gauge had just reflected that there was plenty of fuel. *tt

Nissan 350z have a fuel gauge problem in which many are experiencing. When the gauge reaches below 1/4 tank full it will show as empty. Once the car is turned off the gauge will show as empty even when fuel is in it. The in accuracy of the gauge leads to people over filling their tanks with gas. It has lead to cars running out of fuel on highways. And it has caused dealerships to not know how to fix the issue or over charge on trouble shooting issue they have no idea how to handle. This issue deals with fuel and it is unsafe for we cannot determine how much fuel we have which can lead to over pumping and/or running out of fuel on highways. *tr
