How to read a Nissan Cube VIN — every digit explained
Every Nissan Cube carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. Tells you it's a Nissan and the country it was built in.
- VDS (4–8) — model, body style, engine, trim & restraints. The 8th digit is the engine code.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built (e.g. R = 2024, S = 2025).
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this Cube.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your Cube VIN
- Dashboard — driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside.
- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.
- Paperwork — vehicle registration, title and insurance card.
- Engine bay & frame — stamped on the firewall or chassis on many models.

Tires:pressure Monitoring And Regulating Systems
What's wrong. Nissan is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, washington d.c., west virginia and wisconsin. The material in the nut used to secure the sensor-transmitter of the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) may corrode and potentially crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt. If this occurs, the nut may come out of the sensor-transmitter and the tpms lamp will illuminate.
Risk. If the tpms lamp is disregarded and the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the tire will quickly lose air pressure at a consistent rate resulting in a flat tire increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix. The dealer will replace the tpms nut with a new, more robust nut. This service will be performed free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before november 9, 2009. Owners may contact nissan at 1-800-647-7261 and infiniti at 1-800-662-6200.

The origin and cause of a vehicle fire incident that occurred on january 17, 2015, approximately two miles east of widener junction on highway 70 near memphis, tennessee. It started by a fire that occurred while driving my 2014 nissan cube with vehicle identification number (vin) [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr updated 9/15/15 *ln *cn
Horn is not loud enough to warn other drivers of presence. It is barely audible. Resulted in damage to my vehicle that may have been avoided with a louder horn. *kb
Car failed in a remote area would not restart after stopping, towed to local nissan dealership and they stated that it was the electronic steering control lock complete failure and stops vehicle from starting. Wife suffered from heat exposure directly related to situation, this part was recalled and i had the recall repaired. If a basic search on this you will find that this is a common and expensive problem that nissan ended up discontinuing this part on later cars. But this failure is a serious problem.
My wife drove car to the store when she got back in the car would not start ,the brake pedal would not depress after20 min she tried again and the car started . When i got home i tried to start the car and it would not start ,i went to you tube and found a video with the same problem and the video said to giggle the wires under the dash i did that and it would not start i tried 4 days later and it started the vehicle was parked in my driveway
Problem # 1- is 3 out of 4 door lock actuators all of a sudden stopped working at the exact same time, except the driver door. This is a huge safety issue and causes the door to remain locked. This causes someone getting locked inside the vehicle or locked outside. (Google) all the review's as this is a common thing people are reporting. Problem #2- My daughter said she almost passed out because he gas tank started to leak because the hose connector is plastic and integrated into the gas tank. The only way to fix this is replace the gas tank at $600+. (Google) this is a common problem that people are reporting. My vehicle only has 40k miles on it and its already a fire hazard because fuel is leaking from a plastic cheap fitting. This is the fitting that the fill hose connects to the gas tank. No warning signs until gas fumes filled the cab. This is a fire hazard and also can cause the driver to pass out because of the fumes in the vehicle. No inspections just phone calls to the service department. They want to charge me $175 to just tell me what is broken that I already know. So I called local dealership and they confirmed the symptoms are likely due to broken actuators, and plastic gas fittings.
The car will stop running and die. It has been worked on and the fuse box and brake lamp light switch has been replaced twice. When it dies it smell like burning electrical wiring and smoke comes out from under the hood. I have almost been killed half a dozen times. I can't drive the car safely.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 nissan cube. The contact stated that the horn could not be heard when used in emergency situations. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the horn operated as normal. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage was 11,900.
Rear back door does not open even u u try to lock & unlock, just happend out of the blue .also the right driver window one roll down . The other problem that happen out of the blue were both my sun visor dont go up which make that a hazard to see trafic
Since nov of 2014 i have dealt with persistent start-up issue with my 2011 nissan cube. The vehicle simply can fail to start at any time and without warning. It has push button ignition. The dealership i purchased the vehicle from jackie cooper & nissan north america. They have been unable and unwilling to solve the issues despite repeated visits to their service department. They are attempting to ignore their obligation to fix my vehicle as stipulated by their warranty.
Every so often the ac or the fan doesn't work after starting the car, sometimes for days at time. Then it will just start working randomly usually while we are driving. Also the driver seat belt will unclick randomly while driving sometimes.

The transmission started whining and next day the car did not move. It stopped moving when i needed to cross the intersection of darrow st and gardiner ave in silver spring ave. Exposing my kids and others passers by.
Faulty transmission, discolored, broken. Needs to either be repaired or replaced. At 111,000 miles my car had trouble stopping. I almost got hit in the middle of the intersection. Have really bad whiplash and continue to see a chiropractor every 2 weeks. I have taken my nissan cube 2009 111,000 miles to 3 mechanics. (nissan, meineke and pismo automotive) have documentation available upon request. Including nissan when they said that it would be $260 to diagnose i went to 2 other mechanics shortly after) of which, i couldn't get a clear answer as to which was going on with my engine. The transmission cvt which i now know it is, because of your website, it was making all kinds of weird noises (engine revving). Jerking transmission, shifting (slamming and harsh while braking) have transmission leaks reported and reported that cvt was not only leaking, but blackened in color. (saw it yesterday while mechanic showed me inside of engine and cvt. When i press on gas pedal it would drop out of power and hesitates on acceleration. Taking the lemon to nissan again. It's currently at pismo automotive, as soon as mechanic puts the engine back together i will be towing my car (nissan said i had to tow it to them) but even then, getting the run around from nissan saying i have to pay but it will be covered. *dt consumer stated brakes did not fully stop. Updated 12/06/18*jb
After coming to a stop (or near stop) from highway speeds, my 2014 nissan cube does not respond to depressing the accelerator. I would press the gas to the floor and it barely moved. It was extremely slow, like the engine would not go above idle. After 5-20 seconds it would finally accelerate. A couple of times i was in heavy traffic on a limited access rural highway. The light ahead had turned red and i decelerated to an almost stop before the light changed to green. Of course, i immediately let off the brake pedal and pressed the accelerator. The car didn't respond and the traffic from behind was closing at near highway speed. Fortunately, i was able to swerve off of the road onto the shoulder as the overtaking traffic barrelled past me. One particularly scary time i was in the left lane with guard rail on the left as we were approaching a bridge; the no response event repeated itself, but i was unable to exit the roadway to the left. I kept the pedal down and prayed no one would hit me. Karma was watching over me as the cars coming from behind realized just in time that i was barely moving and swerved to miss me. A couple of the cars narrowly missed hitting me; there was a lot of squealing tires and blaring horns. Luckily for me, i was wearing dark-colored underwear'.. It appears to happen more often as the car accumulates mileage. I never know when this will happen, so now i try to be in the right lane for upcoming stops, but sometimes you are caught off guard for a traffic light change. This is very scary. Car should be recalled.
Vehicle would not accelerate yet rpm's would rise. *tr
I purchase my 2012 nissan cube on january 2019 w 93k on jun 2019 started a noise .it became increasingly worst, took it to the mechanic he road test the car ,and told me it was the transmission i google the cvt trans and find out that nissan have trouble with those trans ,they extend the warranty on some models from 2000 to 2010 i took it to rt.46 nissan on totowa nj to make sure that was the problem and it was .they want $4163.00 to repair/replace the trans that they know have a bunch of problems ..twice the car stall when i`m driving i`m not going to pay for a trans.that has a history of problems,i feel nissan should extend the warranty on 2012 models i`m sure my complain it`s not the only one
I own a 2012 nissan cube with 80,000 miles on it. My teenager was driving the car when it stalled out on her and would not accelerate. It eventually caught enough to accelerate and the service engine light came on. Took it in to the dealership and the transmission needs to be replaced. It is an internal failure of several sensors on the cvt transmission. I have read online at multiple sites that this is a largely occurring incident with nissan and these models. A transmission should not fail at 80,000 miles! It is a dangerous occurrence that can cause serious injury to the driver if on an interstate or otherwise busy highway (we live in a metropolitan city). This needs to be investigated, as nissan is not offering any warnings, recalls or assistance to the problem.
When driving on the interstate during warm weather, you will go to acceralate to only be met with the lose of power and your speed will drop from 70 to 20 without warning. The dash does not light a warning and you must hit your hazard flashers quickly and hope the cars behind you brake in time. You then must move to the shoulder of the road with the vehicle "sputtering" to do 20 mph on a roadway with 60 plus mph traffic. I have spoken to nissan corp., and two dealership concerning this issue with all stating they did not know the cause. After much research and from dealing with this issue since 10,000 miles, i feel that nissan is aware of the issues and have not properly made the necessary steps to correct the issue. The issue is the transmission cooler is not working properly. When the temperature is below 65 degrees, i do not have any issues driving the same routes and at the same speeds. When the temperatures outside are in the upper 70's i can drive 270 miles before the issue occurs. With temperatures in the low 80's, it will occur within 100 miles. I will no longer travel over 50 miles when temperatures reach the 90's. I had the transmission fluid changed at 30 and 60, and 90 thousand miles. The dealership then told me at 120,000 that it was not due till 150,000 miles per the owner's manual. I am now at 140,000 and cannot drive over 50 miles if the weather is too hot.
Cvt transmission failure ~ safety issue slow to start ~ same as 100's of reports on internet car was at warranty end and nissan said only fix for small leak was to replace the whole cvt~ as per current pending class actions against nissan for 2013-2017 cvts being replaced repeatedly with the same failing transmission ended in repair cost to customer. Nissan offered to pay for parts but not labor. Why would i pay to put the same bad part on the car? Why is there not a class action for 2012 nissans? This car had a fuel leak that took many months to repair and find. Then the a/c was not working and mechanic said it might be related to the open ended temp gage for outside temp that this model did not have, only fix he had was electrical tape which i told nissan was not a good fix and have work order through nissan for this. A/c was o ring which may relate back to transmission failure the whole thing basically was shaking apart. So the dealer filled the a/c and failed to find oring leak and also failed to find transmission leak when i told them i wanted everything checked per the warranty ending. Master mechanic found it when i brought it back now they want to charge me labor on new cvt only i read cvt break repeatedly and some people had bought 3 or 4 transmissions! There needs to be a recall of all cvts.
Cvt transmission failing at 73,000 miles
On february 10th, after the car warmed up for 20 minutes, the car's rpm's would jump by 500 every few seconds. I brought the car in (dealership where i bought it) to have it looked at and showed them a video i had taken of it happening at 60 mph and 70 mph. Since no warning lights were lit up on the dash, they said it was fine. On february 16th, the car behaved as though the overdrive was off and i headed to the dealership. Before reaching the dealership, the car would not accelerate and i was stuck. The car was shut off and after 5 minutes i was able to restart it and continue. They later told me the entire transmission needed to be replaced. Although the car is over the mileage for the warranty, i think the company should cover the $4,000 replacement as they did for earlier models http://www.nissanassist.com/web/cvt/index.php?menu=8.

The dogbone that holds the engine, broke and the engine well down and i have to get it repaired, it affected the bracket transmittion mounting, the axle and had to replace the mounts. It costs me $1,112.41 to repair. My car was in motion when the check motor mount failed.
The horn is not able to be heard in traffic. I was on the freeway driving behind my sister. Needing to get her attention as i noticed she had a flat on her car, i was honking the horn on my cube. She did not hear the horn at all. If a person in a car can not hear the horn i do not believe that a semi truck or such type vehicle will be able to hear my horn either and a serious accident would not be avoidable since the horn would not be heard. Also the handling of my car in any windy condition is not safe. If you are driving faster than 30 mph and it is windy or a big gust of wind sweeps by i better be holding on to the steering wheel tight with both hands. I have been on the freeway going 55 mph, the wind has not been that bad but the car has been moving all over the place and i have to hold on to the wheel with both hands and feel that i really don't have control over the vehicle. I have a teenager that has just started driving and do no way feel safe letting her take this vehicle out. I do not even feel safe in this vehicle anymore. *tr
Problem is the anti theft module located on the steering column has malfunctioned for my wife’s 2010 Nissan Cube keyless ignition. Vehicle would not restart for my wife after sitting for 5 hours, luckily she was not way off somewhere. From what I’ve seen Nissan did a recall of a similar defective module on other models but did not include the Cube. Nissan doesn’t even have the parts readily available for repair. Vehicle has been sitting at a repair shop for over a month now. This should be a safety issue as it could leave people totally stranded in the middle of nowhere with no meaningful way to repair the vehicle. The part number of the module is 487001 FA0C. It is believed that Nissan did not recall the Cube because of the low quantity of vehicles manufactured in relation to the other problem models.
My vehicle would not start. I had to have it towed to my mechanic where his computer diagnostic found the problem to be the steering module that starts the vehicle. I had to have it replaced at my cost of $971.00. My mechanic informed me that this same problem was prevalent in the year prior to mine and that they were being repaired by the manufacturer. I contacted the manufacturer and was told there was no campaign for my particular vin number. I don't understand why the year prior to mine is covered but mine is not. I am the original owner of the vehicle and i have had this vehicle serviced as required through the dealership originally, then continued by my mechanic. I would like to file a complaint against this manufacturer to get reimbursed for this defect.
Power steering lock assembly is defective. Vehicle happened to be stationary at the time, locks the car from starting using the start button, car wont even turn over, dealer states part must be replaced. This exact same problem was addressed by a ntsb recall for 2009 - 2010 altimas and one other model but not the cube krom
Steering wheel does not lock. Dash lights come on, key is recognized, but sometimes engine does not start due to dead battery. Failure seems to be steering lock mechanism in unlocked position at all times causing battery to drain. Battery replaced 2 times in 9 months.alternator checks out good. Tired of being stranded!!!!car was stationary when incidents occur. Happening every other day for past 2 months.
The electronic steering interlock mechanism failed, on and off until it finally quit working and the car would not start as a result (the car was stationary each time the problem occurred, which happened at several locations around lexington, ky). I had it towed to a dealer, glenn nissan, lexington, ky. Initial and follow-up repairs cost $1,053.35. This was definitely a safety hazard in terms of potentially being stuck without transportation, and a faulty mechanism affecting the steering performance of the car. Today i learned that nissan extended the warranty on the vehicle due to a significant number of problems experienced by their customers worldwide. My car is past the 3-year extension period (by the way, i did not receive any notice of the warranty extension). The nature of this vehicular problem demanded a recall of the vehicle, not an extension of the warranty. I am therefore registering this complaint with your agency and asking for your investigation of this case. In addition, the law firm of chimicles & tikellis, llp, is investigating a potential class action law suit against nissan regarding the defective, unsafe electronic steering interlock installed on the 2009-2010 nissan cube model and two other models. I have provided information on my case to join that class action suit if it goes forward. I and all consumers need the national highway and safety administration to hold auto manufacturers accountable for selling defective, unsafe cars to the public and for failing to properly issue recalls on such vehicles. Please advise as to your intentions for taking action on this matter. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 nissan cube after turning the vehicle off, the engine could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition lock assembly failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000. Updated 05/05/17*lj *cn
My car starts when it feels like it. I've been stranded at the store after dropping off a child at sports practice, stranded in my own garage unable to take my child to school or get to work. It appears to be the steering lock mechanism issue that abounds in the 2010 cube. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't. I now have to phone a friend and tell them i'm leaving and where i'm going in case i get stranded and can't make it back! *tr
I recently had my steering lock mechanism go out on my 2010 nissan cube and leave me stranded. I had my vehicle towed because it would no longer start thinking it was a safety issue. =$$ no other dealerships would look at it because it was what seemed an electrical issue, i had to take it to nissan dealership to diagnose this problem. I was quoted $950 for it to get fixed. Upon doing research i realized this same part was recalled on the 2009s. I also found many other complaints about this same issue and how nissan was not taking care of their customers. I took my issue to nissan corporate to get it resolved but they said at this time they could not take responsibility for it because there were "revisions" done to this part. Obviously it is still a problem. It also was said that they could not help with any financial assistance. Very disappointed with nissan and will never buy from they again, further recommend their business or customer service. Clearly they do not have any. Do not buy nissan anything. They will not take responsibility for recalled parts and do the right thing.

Similar to nhtsa id number:10717816 and other complaints seen online. Exhaust system coming apart at the flange heat from the broken exhaust had melted the back bumper also, the heat shield separating the exhaust from the fuel tank appears to not cover the area of the common separation. Nissan dealer saw this occur on my car, did not take any responsibility of their faulty flange or carburetor. It was in warranty at that time and they should have fixed it. Very dishonorable practice to have a faulty flange create issues signaling carburetor replacement and car bumper melted as a result from it. I believe an extended warranty should take place to fix this potential road of cube catching fire hazard, although it is only plastic.
For the 2nd time in a month suddenly the vdc light (vehicle dynamic control) was on followed by the service engine soon. The first time was around 8000 miles, the 2nd time was 9500 miles (11 months after it was purchased new). The dealer (walser nissan in burnsville, mn) could not find the problem. The symptom was the same, the engine lost power, couldn't go beyond 30 mph, as if it went into limp-home model. When i turned the engine off, locked it and came back in a few minutes later, it reset itself. The engine ran fine, it was as if there was computer or sensor glitch. But the service engine soon light remained on until the dealer reset it. This can be a safety issue, what if i were driving in a busy highway and the engine suddenly slowed down 30 mph ? *tr
Pulled out from stop light, zero power. Zero accelerator response. Just creep out super slow at idle and cross the intersection. Very unsafe. Cvt seemed to be in limp-home mode; no lights on the dash, no warning, no vibration or other failure.
After a few years or few thousand miles, the cvt transmission may partially fail and it may not be indicated properly in the dashboard. This results in vehicle not getting enough power to drive. So, vehicle may stall in the roads or highways causing safety issues to both vehicle occupants and others in the road/highways. Stopping and restarting may not solve the issue. It could move the vehicle a bit farther but it may be at a very slower speed than the posted limits. The vehicle may produce a unique sound at times. The indication "service engine soon" comes a few days later and it is possible that the user of the car may not fully realize the condition.
Electronic steering column lock (escl) was malfunctioning, as diagnosed by a nissan dealer. The car was parked at my job and would not start. The brake pedal was pressed but was locked as well as the steering wheel in locked position. A solid orange key icon on the dash had started flashing. The car was towed to nissan. This is the same issue that the 2009 cubes were recalled for. It is the same part and same issue with my 2010 cube. Paying $1000 for an issue that nissan is already aware of is ridiculous. Nissan should be held accountable for every model affected by this problem, and not just the 2009s.
There is a known issue with the nissan electronic steering column lock used on cars manufactured in model years 2009-2010. The lock engages and makes cars with push-button ignitions impossible to start. There is a warranty extension for the 2009-2010 altima and maxima, but no other models are covered, even though other models use the same part and experience the same problem. Nissan should be responsible for the repair of this part because it is caused by abuse or misuse, but simply mechanical/electrical failure. There are many resources online (facebook, youtube, web forums) where people driving models other than altima and maxima experience the exact same problem, yet altima and maxima owners get warranty extensions and everyone else gets saddled with a $1000 repair bill. Nissan should be held accountable for every model affected by this problem, not just two models. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 nissan cube. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle erroneously accelerated. The contact also stated that the vehicle shook excessively. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the ecu was reprogrammed but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 30898. The vin was not available.
Many complaints about the nissian cube... the battery are good and even put new batteries in the key fob.. the car isn't registering it and steering wheel is locked bc is a security feature.. many complaints online for these.. is this a recall yet?
Vehicle stopped while in motion on highway. Transmission went completely out.
The cube will frequently stop while driving at any speed. It is possible to pump the accelerator at the moment this happens and sometimes the engine will catch and carry on. If this does not work, the car must be shut down for a few minutes before attempting a restart. Unfortunately once this situation happens, it will very likely recur soon after. It is my observation that this happens most often when the ambient temperature is quite high (75 f and above). On cool days the situation is not likely to happen unless the car is driven over an hour in duration. As another observation it is more likely to happen if the gas gauge is less than full. I tried to reproduce the problem twice for maus nissan but it did not occur. There was a engine service light on during both those attempts indicating a catalytic converter error. Since that time (early 2018) the problem has happened many times without any service engine warning being on. The first time the problem occurred, i took the car into nissan in chattanooga. They said there was a little too much transmission fluid. They removed some and i continued on the florida. Within 10 minutes the problem occurred again. While in florida, we limit driving to early mornings and evenings for less than 30 minutes and we maintain the gas tank on full.

In a side collision crash on 6/3/17, side air curtain did not deploy. Vehicle was in motion at 35 mph speed limit. Car was thrown against pass. Side of cube. Front and side airbags did not deploy.....updated 06/21/17 *bf *js
Was hit head on by a drunk driver and both airbags did not deflate all the way. The drivers airbag gave my mom a broken rib and broke vertebrae in her neck. Passengers side fractured my wrists. The seatbelt on passengers side almost cut me in half cause of locking up. Have sever whiplash and bruising. Prior to this airbag light was blinking on passengers side saying not enough weight was on it when it was. Cube was destroyed in wreck. The seatbelt always locked up on passenger side and almost broke my neck. *tr
Tl* the contact owned a 2013 nissan cube. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle slid on ice, the steering wheel seized, and the traction and abs warning lights illuminated. Takata recall...have not received any other info other than 'match found', along with the statement that it should be fixed as soon as possible. Should i take it to a nissan dealer; or wait to hear something from someone? Usually the responses i have received state not to email back to them.
Passenger weighing 120 lb sat in front seat. Passenger airbag off light came on, alerting to lack of airbag for passenger side occupant. This has happened repeatedly, and after varying lengths of time in vehicle. *tr

2013-2014 oxygen gas sensor Intermittently failed to operate, causing CO2 into the cabin. Issue not found Nissan instructed to take it to another dealer they found issue and replaced. 2025 same issue dealers cannot find major c02 entering cabin. Cannot drive car due to extreme c02 have blood test indicating c02 in blood. Extreme situation both times!
The gas tank has malfunctioned and is leaking. According to the mechanic, it is the same issue related to the recall of the gas tank regarding the 2009-2010 Nissan Cube. My safety and others are put at risk because gas is leaking and causing a fire or an explosion. My mechanic confirmed the issue. At this point, the 2 Nissan dealers have not returned my phone calls. I need to get my car fixed as soon as possible. Gas is leaking from the site of failure. There were no warning lamps to signal that the gas tank was leaking gas. The only signs were the smell of gas and then discovering a puddle of gas pooling on the ground beneath my car.
Fuel level readings have been erratic for over 40,000 miles now. Fuel gauge will randomly show the fuel level with less than 1/4 tank left, even though the car has gone less than 100 miles after filling (while the car can travel over 300 miles on a full tank.) Then a little while later, the fuel level will appear normal. And this cycle will repeat many times before the tank is actually below 1/4 tank full, based on both mileage and the "normal" fuel level.
I saw that in phoenix az the safety recall began on september 13,2010 for fuel system, gasoline;storage. Reported an saftey complaint on july 16th, 2020 11:45 pm phoenix az. Electirocal stability control started on june 10th 2020 didn't think much of it car cut off at an red light i turned my hazard lights on put the car in park and started the car up again. This happened again on july 15th 2020 took it in to the dealer( auto action 1827 w broadway rd) i pay a car note with told them what happened they said they needed to run it to see what was going on and would not present and spare car for the inconvenience or had any car fax on hand. July 16th 2020 i noticed that oil was indeed leaking from the bottom of the car.

1) check air bag light was flashing a month after i purchased the vehicle and it was repaired. The light is back on almost a year later and has continued to flash on and off. 2) tire pressure light continues to go on and off and i replaced and aligned my tires and still it continues. 3) when putting gas in my tank the gauge is never all the way to the top and yet the pump will not allow me to input more gas. Also the gas is not lasting the amount of mile it should, and the reading does not seem accurate.

The origin and cause of a vehicle fire incident that occurred on january 17, 2015, approximately two miles east of widener junction on highway 70 near memphis, tennessee. It started by a fire that occurred while driving my 2014 nissan cube with vehicle identification number (vin) [xxx]. While driving down the road i notice a burning smell and loud muffler/exhaust noise. When i pulled over to look under the rear of the car to inspect the muffler i saw a large whole in the rear bumper and the muffler had loosened. The muffler pointed up so that it was directly aimed at the inside of the rear bumper. This caused it to ignite and burn a hole in the rear bumper. I called nissan corporate to file a claim and they informed me i had to pay for the repairs because they had not issued a recall for this issue. The local dealer said this is a common issue with this vehicle, and is now unsafe to drive because it could cause a larger fire and ignite the floorboard or the muffler could fall off while driving. The service manager at the dealer told me they would replace the muffler and necessary parts at my own cost or weld it back, but it would be the same parts that are known to easily defect in this manner. I have looked on the internet and found other people who have had this issue with cube's and other nissan's around the same years of production. Some issues appeared as early as 12,000 miles and the manufacturer covered the cost under warrant, but mine won'the since it has 70,000 miles. I have no undercarriage damage so they believe it was rusted out because of salts on the road to treat ice and snow in my region.

2011 cube, rear door will not open. No door handle in side of vehicle, no way to open. This is a real hazard. I have seen a lot of complaints, from other cube owners with the same problem. *tr
The dogbone that holds the engine, broke and the engine well down and i have to get it repaired, it affected the bracket transmittion mounting, the axle and had to replace the mounts. It costs me $1,112.41 to repair. My car was in motion when the check motor mount failed.
Rear door doesn't open, read many similar reports. When cars are submerged into water often escaping through the trunk is the only option, not acceptable to have a faulty latch in all the earlier models.
The rear door no longer unlocks. It was working fine and now the actuator no longer works making the rear door unusable, there is no way to manually unlock the door and the emergency unlock does not work either. *tr
Back door handle fails to unlock no key access to open or fix...known problem for these cars. Tps sensors malfunction
Inner fender fell off in parking lot and was run over. This could have been devasting at highway speeds and could have been a hazard for other drivers. Also the bottom cover came loose and was dragging on the ground.
I am the 2nd owner of this car. I purchased this vehicle april of 2016. The only light that has been on has been the tpm light. On july 3rd,2016 , i was driving on the highway with my children when the car suddenly stalled. It completely stopped driving no matter how hard i would push on the gas. When i had to vehicle inspected, it was the transmission that had failed. According to the dealership, there was an extended warrenty on this cvt transmission because of problems it was having. There was no light on or anything to show that there had been an issue with this transmission, it just suddenly stopped working as i was driving. I contacted nissan directly and they told me there was nothing they can do because it was out of warranty. I feel this is unsafe because people do drive with their children in the vehicle. This could have caused a bad collision on the highway when it suddenly just stopped. In the same incident, the back door suddenly will not open.

One night after having recall work done, as i was driving the car, at every red light, the car would start surging forward as if it wanted to go. As i depressed the brake even harder, the car started shaking. I drove it straight back to the dealer but it stopped doing it and hasn't done it since. However, it also started not starting when i depressed the brake and pushed the ignition button. Generally i had to push the button, nothing would happen, the next push brought up the accessory lights and then next push made the car start. However, since this has happened a dozen of times, the last time it happened, the car wouldn't start after four tries and after i had depressed the brake and was reaching in the back seat to get my keys and phone and figure out the problem, the car suddenly and all by itself started the motor up. The mechanic ran diagnostics and still can't find the problem. I don't feel safe in the car and am trying to get the dealer to make it right. They want nissan to be involved in helping that happen financially and nissan is sticking to lemon law regulations. I refuse to drive this car anymore. *tr
The transmission range switch (commonly referred to as a neutral safety switch) will sometimes fail to make proper electrical contact. This condition results in two of three conditions. One condition is a failure of the prndl indicator on the dashboard (as opposed to the prndl indicator at the shifter control) to illuminate. The next two conditions are much less benign; they can be much more frustrating or dangerous. The very frustrating condition is: because the switch fails to indicate the shifter is in park or neutral, the engine cannot be started. The very dangerous condition is: if before the switch fails to maintain proper contact the engine has already been started, then the idling engine (as usual) is sufficient to get the vehicle into an intersection; however, the engine will delay acceleration by quite a few seconds, regardless of the accelerator's position, as the driver attempts to get through the intersection. My recommendation for an efficient recall is to recommend nissan develop redundancy into this switch. Nissan could easily redesign this switch to double (or even triple) then switch's sliding contacts. Doing so would allow the multiple, identical "poles" and "throws" to be connected parallel to each other before they are electrically routed toward the eight-pin connector. This redundancy would easily, quickly, efficiently, and certainly reduce this infrequent but very problematic condition to an issue which ought (statistically) become so infrequent it's no longer a concern. The transmission range switch is nissan part number: switch assy 20150227 31918-1xcod and is very likely used on more vehicles than just the cube models.
When on the interstate after about two hours my vehicle will not accelerate. When i press the gas the rpm's go up but the vehicle does nothing. If i pull off the road for a few minutes it is fine for a little longer but will reoccurs in frequency depending on the temperature outside. My vehicle has a cvt transmission which has been replaced once in july/august of 2013. The new transmission has the same issue and i have taken it into the shop twice now is not fixed. *tr
I bought my nissan cube in 2010 (used with about 23,000 miles). I have been having trouble with the air condition making a fan noise, slowing down, going faster then cutting off. The dealer said it was normal bor the a/c to do that, but now i believe it is really going to die out. I have also been having trouble with my cube where you press on the gas and the car is going anywhere, then in a couple of seconds the tires kind of stutter along and i'm on my way. This happens alot. I bought new tires because i thought that this was what was wrong with it, but it still does it.i also have that stupid tire light coming on a lot and then my new tires are deflating for no reason. Took it back to the tire shop where the checked all the pressures in my tires, 1 was very low and turned off light on my dash. This vehicle is too wide, scares the heck out of me when i have to turn left or right only because the windshield is too wide and you have to scoot way up or way back to make sure when you turn that you can see where you are going. You no matter how many times i told the guy at nissan what was wrong, they could never find anything wrong with the vehicle. Now i have had it three years and all the problems are worse. I think this car was jinx when i brought, and i wasn't even the vehicle i wanted to buy, but the salesperson and financial person kept pushing for me to get this vehicle, and as a single mom and a person that needed a vehicle very badly, i took the bait and bought the car. I'm looking for something better now and i hope i don't get ripped off again. *tr
