I drove out of town about 40 miles and everything was fine, next day went to leave to come home and immediately noticed high RPMs going about 20MPH. I pulled over, turned the car off and turned it back on, started driving and same thing. I had no choice but to drive it on the interstate. I could get up to 60 very carefully but I was still sitting around 4000rpms. It wouldn’t shift gears at all (I know it’s a CVT and doesn’t have gears). I then noticed a high squealing noise, thankfully made it home with a lot of honking and middle fingers even though I had my hazards on. Once I made it home, plugged in my OBD scanner and had a pending DTC of P1778 which I have found to be the stepper motor. Aka the death code. It’ll start, shift into all other gears, but is making a high squealing noise even when idle and in park and when revving in park the squeal gets louder. I even attempted the “semi manual’ to see if I could get it to catch, I couldn’t at all. No matter what “gear” I was in it wouldn’t bring the RPMs down.

The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics after purchasing the vehicle and the mass air flow, spark plugs, sensor coils, and other various engine parts and catalytic converters were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Service Engine Soon light on. Was driving on highway at 55mph Transmission started to slip and car started to slow down while I was pressing gas pedal. The more I pressed on gas pedal the more the car lost acceleration. Had to move off to side of the road and turn car off. Took to mechanic and had transmission flushed and plate replaced. Transmission needs to be replaced. Ran diagnostic and codes for Transmission comes up.

I have a 2012 nissan altima that I purchased in 2018. in florida. check engine light appeared first. it currently doesn't run because of the transmission. it doesnt excelerate above 20mph. is there is a nationwide recall because of the cvt transmissions going bad?. I already tried to fix 2 separate parts on the transmission the code I'm getting is p1778. I changed the stepper motor and valve body and it's still won't go above 20mph. I don't have 5,000 to replace a transmission. we've been stuck on the road twice in traffic when it doesn't want to excelerate above 20mph

Transmission spudders at times. It is very delayed when pulling out sometimes. Turning the car off and back on might help sometimes. Car will go in limp mode. Nissan dealer said it was the Transmission. There is a big safety concern because when you push the gas trying to cross an intersection, it might lag behind and not go. This could result in being hit. This has been a great car but the cat is complete junk and Nissan should be ashamed of themselves for this. If they get enough law suits they may change something. Well maybe, They don't care about peoples lives.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the OCS control unit was malfunctioning. The dealer determined that the front passenger’s side seat needed to be replaced. The dealer charged a fee to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the seat sensor unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V408000 (Air Bags) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 28,000.

The airbag warning light started flashing in late November or early December 2022. I took the car to my mechanic on Dec. 5, 2022 who ran a diagnostic which identified the need to replace the sensor in the front passenger seat. The sensor is so integrated into the seat that the entire seat (not the back) must be replaced. I was then told that Nissan has stopped making the seat because the car is over 10 years old and a replacement is unavailable nationwide and will not become available. I called a Nissan dealer to confirm that the part is unavailable and they confirmed it. As a result, it is unsafe for a person to sit in the passenger seat. It seems wrong that Nissan can stop making such an essential part and devalue someone's life or the vehicle itself in this way. It also seems to me that I cannot sell the car in this condition and it only has about 76,000 miles on it. The vehicle is available for inspection should someone wish to do so.

Pressure sensor in passenger seat connected to passenger side air bag became defective, affecting (shutting off) the entire air bag system. Started off with 'passenger air bag off' sign being illuminated at all times, even when an adult was sitting in the passenger seat. Then airbag warning light on the dashboard started flashing the entire time car was running. Because the passenger seat airbag is off. The safety of passenger put at risk. Talked to Nissan dealers at Hayward CA today (08-10-2021). They said that the has no recall and warranty is expired. That means I have to pay for the airbag repairs which I don't think is fair for consumers. Air bags is a safety issue, they should take care of it right away with no cost before something happens. I did reset the airbag warning on the dashboard twice, but it came back on day after.

I just recently financed my car I haven’t even had it 1 month and every time I drive it for more than 1 hour the transmission fills like it’s going out on me on the freeway I can’t seem to get it to go over 40 miles an hour and it makes sun weird noise and idles high I can also feel it when I drive I can fill it slipping it jerks it only has 117000 miles on it I did mention it to the dealership and he said it wasn’t the transmission it was something else I know it’s the transmission I just wanted to know if it was a recall or anyone else had this issue I have not had it inspected being it hasn’t even been a month yet

THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. IT IS NOW TO THE POINT WHERE IT PEELS UP IF ANY ITEM IS PLACED ON IT AND THEN REMOVED. THERE IS A WET OILY SUBSTANCE FORMING IN PLACES ALL OVER THE DASH. IT IS INCREDIBLY STICKY ALL OVER. I PLACED MY CELL PHONE ON THE DASH WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO GET IT OFF OF MY DASH. THAT RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE GOING IN TO THE LANE ADJACENT WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS JERKED DURING REMOVAL OF THE PHONE. IT POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS CRASH. THE PHONE PULLED PART OF THE VINYL DASH OFF AS WELL. I HAVE CHECKED RECALLS FOR NISSAN AND THE DASH IS NOT AMONG THEM. I NOTED A VERY SLIGHT STICKINESS ON THE DASH WHEN I PURCHASED THE ALTIMA USED IN 2017 AFTER HURRICANE HARVEY. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY BECOME WORSE UNTIL I AM NOW IN THE SITUATION I HAVE REPORTED. AS A SIDE NOTE, I HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2006 TOYOTA SOLERA IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE DASH. TOYOTA DID ISSUE A RECALL ON THE DASH. I HAD IT REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT INCIDENT.

Car got stuck in a high gear on the interstate. Speed reduced dramatically and went below minimum speed limit (40mph). No warning lights illuminated. My vehicle has had this issue twice within the last 6 years. Took my car to the dealership where I bought it but they said that they didn't have anybody that could check a CVT.

ON 8/17/2020 AT 11:30AM I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH WHEN EVERYTHING IN MY CAR, INCLUDING THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING. I QUICKLY PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS MY CAR RESTARTED WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS THAT DAY. ON 8/18/2020 AT APPROXIMATELY 1750HRS AFTER EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY, AGAIN MY CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING 10-15 MPH, AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS MY IT RESTARTED. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 46,000 MILES, I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE CAR IS SERVICED AS SCHEDULED BY MANUFACTURER. I CURRENTLY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON 8/28/2020 WITH NISSAN OF QUEEN FOR AN EVALUATION OF THIS PROBLEM.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, he noticed that the dashboard was shiny and was melting in a small area. The failure expanded to cover the entire dashboard causing visibility issues while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer; however, the mechanic declined to diagnose the failure without a diagnostic fee being paid. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

While driving at 70mph on interstate the hood flew open with no known explanation as to why as hood had not been opened by anyone in the last 120 days prior to incident. This caused hood to snap back, strike and smash windshield and significantly dent roof of car in front of moonroof.

Have a '12 SR coupe. Car keeps turning over for 5-10 seconds before starting. The alternator checked fine, but the battery voltage was a little low. I bought a brand new battery and that seemed to fix the problem....... for an hour. New battery is at the correct voltage, and alternator came back fine again. Even Nissan themselves have bo idea what's wrong. I've never seen this complaint anywhere, but I assume not that many people own the coupes. I even had an 09 SE coupe that never did this.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE WILL DEACCELERATE GOING FROM 70 MILES TO 45 MILES, EVEN THOUGH MY PEDAL IS FLUSH TO THE FLOOR. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED I WAS IN THE FAST LANE AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. CAR DASH HAS BECOME A HAZARD TO DRIVING SAFELY. THE DASH ORIGINALLY, WHEN PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALER, HAD A PEBBLED MATT FINISH SIMILAR TO A FOOTBALL OR BASKETBALL. IN THE PAST YEAR THAT FINISH IS DISSOLVED INTO A SLICK STICKY HIGHLY REFLECTIVE STATE. THIS REFLECTIVE STATE CAUSES THE DRIVER TO BE VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW; THIS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS. FURTHER RESEARCH OF THIS EVENT WITH MY VEHICLE HAS FOUND IT NOT TO BE UNIQUE TO MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY COMMON AND VERY DANGEROUS. THIS IS A DEFECT OF DESIGN ONLY AND AS SUCH NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN CORPORATE.

THE DASH ON MY 2012 ALTIMA HAS BEGUN TO MELT. THE DASH INITIALLY STARTED OUT BEING TACKY WHEN MY SON WAS AWAY AT COLLEGE IN NC, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS UNUSUAL. UPON RETURNING TO FL THIS PAST SUMMER, IT GOT WORSE. NOW THE DASH IS GIVING OFF A CHEMICAL SMELL WITH A HORRIBLE GLARE. THE GLARE FROM THE WINDSHIELD IS MAKING FOR UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS, ESPECIALLY IN THE FL SUN. NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGED THE MELTING DASH ISSUE IN 2008 2009 MODELS AND AGREED TO REPLACE THOSE DASHES FOR VEHICLES IN FL UNDER A LAWSUIT SETTLED IN 2017. LOOKING AT THE COMPLAINTS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, IT APPEARS THAT THE MELTING DASH ISSUE HAS CONTINUED TO BE A PROBLEM PAST THE 2008 2009 MODEL YEARS.

DASH IS MELTING AND SHINY CREATING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. THIS STARTED YEARS AGO AND ONLY GETS WORSE. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES TO DEALER. THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THE DASH IS STICKY AND IS TURNING TO A GOOEY SUBSTANCE. IT IS SHINY AND IS CAUSING GLARE ON WINDSHIELD. IT STARTED WHERE DASH MEETS WINDSHIELD AND QUICKLY SPREAD TOWARD STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN REPLACE THE DASHBOARD AT $2700 SINCE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I CONTACTED NISSAN CUSTOMER CARE AND I HAVE A CASE NUMBER. THEY SAID NO ONE ELSE HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS FOR THE 2012 YEAR ALTHOUGH I AM SEEING SOME COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. THEY TOO SAID THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN I SUGGESTED IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND OBVIOUSLY WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE LAWSUIT THAT WAS SETTLED, THEY GENTLEMAN SAID THIS WAS NOT THE SAME YEAR. MY CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN FLORIDA, THE STATE OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT I NOW LIVE IN GA. A DASHBOARD SHOULD NOT MELT WHEN EXPOSED TO THE SUN! NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.

3 times car has decelerated when driving on interstate for 1 to 2 hours. Last time speed dropped to 20 mph when most cars were doing 70 to 80 mph. This creates a very dangerous situation that could result in loss of life if not corrected. Nissan refuses to address the matter and problem is well documented on the internet and lawsuits. Nissan should have issued a recall covering the defective CVT. My college age grandson is driving the car as he has no other option but he is putting his life and friends at risk each time he goes on an extended trip. Nissan should at minimum replace the transmission as a safety issue but have denied our claim. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

We had a near fatal accident on the highway because the car suddenly lost speed drastically and later on a few incidents won't move up on the slope. My daughter had a hard time reaching home but somehow managed. A quick online research showed many people sharing similar issues due to faulty transmission and sensors. It seems that Nissan is simply hiding behind its 60,000 mile Warranty and not addressing and fixing this issue for the consumers and thereby putting lives at risk.

THREE HOURS INTO MY DRIVE, I WAS GOING ABOUT 70 MPH AND NOTICED MY CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND WAS MAKING A NOISE. I PULLED OVER, GOT OUT, CHECKED MY POWER STEERING FLUID. IT WAS FINE SO I DROVE OFF AND AS I WAS ENTERING THE FREEWAY, I NOTICED THE CAR WASN'T PICKING UP SPEED AGAIN. I DROVE TO THE NEXT EXIT AND GOT OFF. I LITERALLY COASTED TO A PARKING LOT OF AN INDUSTRIAL BUILDING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT TRYING TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT, I NOTICED I COULDN'T GO UP THE HILL. I WAITED ABOUT 30 MINUTES, PICKED UP SPEED AND MADE IT UP THE HILL AND ONTO A 2 LANE ROAD. I DROVE TO A HOTEL ABOUT 4 MILES AWAY, GOING ABOUT 40 MPH. I REALIZED THAT AS LONG AS I DIDN'T STOP, I WOULD BE FINE. THE NEXT MORNING I FOUND A MECHANIC SHOP, CALLED AND DROVE THERE WITH MINIMAL PROBLEMS. HE TOLD ME THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF MY CAR HAD BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. HE HOOKED A MACHINE UP AND IT GAVE HIM THESE CODES: P0746, P0826, P1778 STEP MOTOR, P0868. HE TOLD ME TO CHECK FOR RECALLS. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR 3 HOURS BACK TO MY HOUSE IN WOODBRIDGE.

2012 NISSAN ALTIMA 2.5S SEDAN, PURCHASED NEW PLUS EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH 3 MILES ON IT. AT 64K MILES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER ABOUT A. THE RPM GAUGE BEGAN TO RISE ANT THE CAR BEGAN TO DECREASE IT'S SPEED EVENTUALLY DESCENDING TO 20 MPH WHILE THE RPM GAUGE FLUCTUATED FROM 2K TO 5K RPM. THE GAS PEDAL WAS NON RESPONSIVE EXCEPT FOR A LOUDER WHINING NOISE AS IT WAS PRESSED . WE PULLED OVER FOR A WHILE AND THE VEHICLE WENT TO NORMAL. THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES BEFORE WE ARRIVED HOME. THE DEALER RESPONDED STATING A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED BUT NOT COVERED THEY SAID MY WARRANTY WAS NOT VALID. I COMPLAINED, THEY CONTACTED HEADQUARTERS I GUESS AND STATED TO ME BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNDER 70K MILES THE COMPANY WOULD PAY PARTIAL FOR THE REPAIR BUT MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES WOULD HAVE BEEN ABOUT 1200. NOT ONLY DID I THINK THIS WAS UNFAIR BUT I ALSO DIDN'T HAVE AN EXTRA 1200 LYNG AROUND. SO UNFORTUNATELY I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR YEARS CAR DRIVES FINE FOR ABOUT 40 MIN. SO NO LONG COMMUTES.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND AFTER TWO AND HALF HOURS OF DRIVING COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 45-50 MILES AN HOUR AND STUCK ON THIS SPEED EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL BEING PRESSED DOWN TO ACCELERATE. I HAD SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES WITH THIS ON THE HIGHWAY IN REGARDS TO ASCENDING HILLS AND HAD NEAR SERIOUS ENCOUNTERS WITH TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES ON ALL INCIDENTS I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE MORE THAN THAT DURATION. I AM ON A WEBSITE CALLED CARGURUS AND HAVE A LOT OF NISSAN 2012 ALTIMA OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL HAVING EXACTLY THE SAME TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN ABOUT THIS AND THAT THEY SHOULD DO A QA OF THEIR CALL LOGS AND CHECK OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS AND ALL THEY COULD SAY IS "THERE IS CURRENTLY NO RECALL ON YOUR VIN". INFORMED THEM ABOUT MEDICINE AFTER DEATH NOT POSSIBLE AND PROBLEMS LIKE THIS WITH FREQUENT COMPLAINTS BY CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND NOT IGNORED TILL PEOPLE START DYING BEFORE THERE IS A NEED TO FIX THIS OR ISSUE A RECALL. THE GEAR BOX AND CV AXLE BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ MAY BE THE CAUSE OF THIS. I AM NOT A TECHNICIAN BUT THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO 4 SEIZED BRAKE CALIPERS. MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO STOP COMPLETELY AT A BUSY INTERSECTION ENTERING ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES. NO CARS WERE PRESENT OR SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT, BUT VERY SCARY FOR MY WIFE. ALL FOUR ROTORS SHOWED ONLY A THIN STRIPE OF PAD CONTACT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROTOR. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY DUE TO CORROSION OF THERE CALIPERS. CAR HAD BEEN IN THERE REPAIR SHOP 7 MONTHS EARLIER. ROTOR DEGLAZING WAS RECOMMENDED BUT NOTHING WAS SAID ABOUT THE BRAKES CALIPERS SEIZING AND BRAKE FAILURE. DEGLAZING OF ROTORS WOULD HAVE BEEN AT MY EXPENSE AND I FELT THIS WAS THE DEALERSHIPS RESPONSIBILITY IF THERE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. BEING UNAWARE OF THE SEVERITY OF THIS "COMMON" PROBLEM I ELECTED TO PASS. NEVER DID ANYBODY STATE THAT THIS COULD LEAD TO TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE AND WAS ANYTHING BUT DEGLAZING OF THE ROTORS, A DEALER ADD ON EXPENSE. SPOKE TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE THOUGHT IT WAS UNNECESSARY. I HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOR ROTORS AND PADS, THEY CLEANED UP THE CALIPERS AND SAID THEY SHOULD BE FINE. HOW WILL I KNOW IF THEY ARE FINE OR NOT? MUST I HAVE BRAKE FAILURE AGAIN TO FIND OUT THEY WERE WRONG? I DO NOT TRUST THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE, THEY SHOULD NOT SEIZE UP ON A 2 1/2 YR OLD CAR THAT'S KEPT IN A HEATED GARAGE DAILY. THEY STATED IT WAS BECAUSE OF MY LOCATION, UPSTATE NEW YORK, AND THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE BRAKES SYSTEM IN SUCH A HARSH ENVIRONMENT. WHILE IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO DRASTICLY SLOW DOWN FROM SPEEDS OF 60 TO 70 MPH DOWN TO 20 TO 30 MPH. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS DURING THE DAY AFTER DRIVING FOR AN HOUR + AND IN ANY KIND OF INCLINE ROAD. AT HARD INCLINES I CAN BEARLY DRIVE UPWARD EVEN HHAVING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE RPM GAGE BEGINS TO JUMP RAPIDLY TO 5 AND 6 RPM WHEN EVEN SLIGHTLY PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE, AND ONCE IT ADJUST , THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO MORE THAT 3 RPM WHILE STILL AT A MPH SLOWER THAN 30. THIS WILL STAY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE UNTIL I HAVE STOPPED AND TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF FOR A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME. TBIS BEGAN HAPPENING AT 100,000 MILES AND NOW AT 150,000 MILES IT HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY. I FEEL THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, AND CLEARLY VERY UNSAFE FOR DRIVING LONG DISTANCES ON LARGE HIGHWAYS, WHEN MY VEHICLE SHOULD WORK AS IT SHOULD.

COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER CLIMBING A STEEP GRADE UPHILL, ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT SANDWICHED BETWEEN TWO 18 WHEELERS ALSO GOING UPHILL ONE OF WHICH HAD TO SWERVE SHARPLY TO AVOID HITTING US. CVT TRANSMISSION LIKELY WENT INTO FAIL-SAFE MODE, SAME THING REPEATED MULTIPLE TIMES ON STEEP WINDING CLIMBS ON MOUNTAIN HIGHWAYS. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH ENGINE CUTTING OUT AND LOSS OF POWER. NISSAN HAS ISSUED CVT RECALLS AND EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MODELS UP TO 2010 BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE IN THIS 2012 ALTIMA AND IN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CVT ON LATER MODELS. NHTSA SHOULD GET NISSAN TO EXTEND ITS RECALL/WARRANTY TO MODELS AFTER 2010 JUDGING BY THE MANY COMPLAINTS BEING REPORTED ABOUT THE SAME LOSS OF POWER ISSUE WITH THE CVT.

MY CAR STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE WHILE DRIVING IT. GOING UP THE HILL MY CAR ON A HIGHWAY IN THE DESERT WHEN THE SPEED DECLINED IT'S FROM 70MPH TO 45MPH, WHICH I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND IT WAS STUCK ON 45MPH, AND ALMOST CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND ME TO CRASH INTO ME WITH MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. A LOT OF COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND NOTHING'S HAS BEEN DONE. WHAT DOES IT TAKE A LIFE TO BE TAKEN IN ORDER FOR A RECALL. THE TRANSMISSIONS ON THESE CARS ARE CRAP. EVERY TIME SOMEONE WALKS INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SEEM TO BE WELL AWARE BUT NO RECALL HE BEEN DONE.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle, followed by a dragging sound. The contact also stated that the vehicle began to shake abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over and discovered that the rear driver side tire was hanging from the suspension. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it remained. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 236,000.

HEADLINER WAS MADE INCORRECT FOR ALL 2012 MODELS AND NISSAN IS AWARE AND REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. WE HAVE TWO OF THE SAME YEAR ALTIMA PURCHASED ON THE SAME DATE. ALSO THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION STILL AND WHEN I TURN TO LEFT IT MAKES A POPPING SOUND. WENT IN TO GET OIL CHANGED AND WAS TOLD I HAD AN OIL LEAK THAT WAS GOING BACK INTO MY ENGINE AND BLEW ONE OF MY CYLINDERS AND TORE AN O-RING SO HAD TO HAVE THAT REPLACED. ALSO SOMETHING WRONG WITH REAR DEFROSTER THAT REQUIRED BACK WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED. HORRIBLE CONTROL ISSUES WHEN GOING OVER 50 MPH. ALSO SUNROOF REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO REPEATEDLY BREAKING ON THE TRACK PIECE. THIS CAR AS VERY POORLY MADE AND NISSAN WILL NOT OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES. MY VEHICLE IS 5 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE OVER 700 COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THE NHTSA AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND THIS ONGOING ISSUE IS GOING TO HURT OR EVEN KILL SOMEONE. NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF THE CVT ISSUES AND THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. ALTIMA WAS SERVICED AT A DEALERSHIP LESS THAN A WEEK AGO FOR OIL AND FILTER CHANGE. I WAS DRIVING THE 2012 ALTIMA FROM WORK ON 4/10/14. IT LOOKED THE CAR WAS STALLING ON THE HIGHWAY MULTIPLE TIMES. Hi I’m having trouble with my transmission in my car due to a safety feature that Nissan has installed on there cvt transmissions. After driving for 1 1/2 to 2 hour trips my car does not accelerate or will have a slow time gaining speed. Nissan has a high fluid temperature protection mode that basically when the transmission temp gets too high the computer cuts you off completely and intentionally stops you from going any faster. This is a serious issues if your in traffic or driving somewhere on the highway and not able to move to the side of the roadway or to a median. If my car was to completely stop in the middle of the road due to this safety feature, it could cause collisions and life threatening injuries.

MY VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING WILL NOT THROTTLE CORRECTLY SO I HAVE TO PULL OVER ON THE ROAD AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND THAN TURN IT BACK ON. AFTER TURNING THE CAR BACK ON I WOULD RUB THE ENGINE TO MAKE SURE IT WOULD THROTTLE PASS 3. I HAD PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AT A LOCAL GYM, AS I PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STAY IN DRIVE AND SURGED FORWARD INTO THE BUILDING. ONCE THE VEHICLE HIT THE BUILDING, I ONCE AGAIN TRIED TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK, AND IT ONCE AGAIN SURGED FORWARD AND HIT THE BUILDING. MY ISSUE CONCERNS THE EXTREMELY BRIGHT HEADLIGHTS (ESPECIALLY AFTERMARKET HALOGEN) THAT ARE ALLOWED TO BE INSTALLED ON CARS AND WORSE ON SUV'S AND PICK-UP TRUCKS. THESE LIGHTS ARE BLINDING IN NORMAL HIGHWAY NIGHT TRAVEL, ESPECIALLY WHEN OPPOSING DRIVERS USE THEM AT THE HIGH BEAM LEVEL. IT IS WORSE WHEN A CAR DRIVER IS OPPOSED BY A SUV OR A PICK-UP TRUCK WHOSE LIGHTS ARE MOUNTED ABOUT ONE FOOT HIGHER THAN THE ONES MOUNTED ON A TYPICAL CAR. MY WIFE'S ACCIDENT WHEN SHE ENTERED THE LEFT TURN LANE OF A HIGHWAY WITH A SINGLE LANE IN EACH DIRECTION WITH A DEDICATED LEFT TURN LANE AT THE INTERSECTION. AS MY WIFE'S CAR SAT IN THE LEFT TURN LANE, IT WAS DIRECTLY OPPOSITE A SUV OR PICK-UP TRUCK WITH EXTREMELY BRIGHT LIGHTS THAT BLINDS YOU FROM SEEING ANYTHING BEYOND THE PLANE OF THE HEADLIGHTS. WHEN THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL TURNED GREEN, THE OPPOSING VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. MY WIFE EVENTUALLY DECIDED TO EASE SLOWLY OUT. STILL UNABLE TO SEE, SE WAS EVENTUALLY INTO THE INTERSECTION WHERE SHE WAS HIT BY A CAR IN THE THROUGH LANE. THESE HALOGEN LIGHTS ARE NOT NECESSARY FOR MOST DRIVING. THE HEIGHT DIFFERENTIAL OF HEADLIGHTS BETWEEN CARS AND SUV'S IS ABOUT ONE FOOT AND IS DANGEROUS. IT ALSO VERY BAD ON COUNTRY ROADS WITH NO CENTERLINES OR NO EDGE LINES. IF YOU ENCOUNTER A VEHICLE ON THIS TYPE OF A COUNTRY ROAD AND THE ROAD AHEAD CURVES - LOOK OUT - YOU HAVE A GOOD CHANCE OF RUNNING OFF THE ROAD. ANOTHER THING THAT MAKES THIS ISSUE WORSE IS OLDER DRIVERS WHO HAVE HAD CATARACT SURGERY. THIS INCREASES THE INTENSITY OF THE LIGHTS. IN THE INTEREST OF TRAFFIC SAFETY, ALL VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS ON PASSENGER CARS, SUV'S AND PICK-UP TRUCKS SHOULD HAVE THE SAME HEIGHT. AND THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE LIGHTS SHOULD HAVE A MAXIMUM VALUE. HI, I WOULD LIKE TO BRING IT TO YOUR NOTICE THAT THE HEADLIGHTS PROVIDED WITH MY NISSAN ALTIMA DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE LIGHTING ON THE STREET. IT IS PARTICULARLY VERY DIFFICULT WHEN MAKING TURNS, AND THE OTHER SIDE IS LIKE A 4 LANE ROAD(THE DIVIDER IS VISIBLE WHEN IT IS ALREADY TOO LATE). IT IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WHEN YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ROADS IN AN AREA, YOU WILL END UP ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD (THE LIGHT IS NOT WIDE ENOUGH AND NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH). I WAS LUCKY THAT THE ROADS WERE EMPTY. I HAVE NOTICED THAT CARS FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS WHICH ARE OLDER AND SMALLER LIGHT UP ROADS BETTER THAN MY NEW CAR DOES(EX: HYUNDAI ELANTRA). THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS CROOKED - BOTH ACROSS THE BACK AND ACROSS THE SEAT. THIS MEANS ONE'S SHOULDERS AND TORSO ARE TWISTED AND FACING THE CENTER CONSOLE, NOT THE STEERING WHEEL. HIPS ARE UNEVEN WITH THE RIGHT SIDE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN THE LEFT. THIS IS A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND PAINFUL POSITION TO BE IN. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT ALL 2012 ALTIMAS ARE LIKE THIS AND THEREFORE IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM! I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE BACK OF THE SEAT IS IN FACT CROOKED IN THE MORE THAN TWO DOZEN EXAMPLES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CHECK. On a road trip car stopped accelerating above 60. Caused us a long time sitting on the side of the road when car cooled we started up and went again. Took it into the shop and replaced the fuel pump. Then one week later on a trip to Idaho car is doing the same thing over the Milan pass. Acceleration does not work at high speeds even with a new fuel pump. Seems to make an airy fan sound like an air valve is wide open. Think it is a dangerous sensor issue. Ug. Help.

AT 1500-1800 RPMS THERE IS A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC WHO INFORMED ME THAT MY CALL WAS UNDER RECALL FOR A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO NISSAN. NISSAN CLAIMED THAT THEY COULD ONLY REPAIR MY VEHICLE IF THE VIN# IS IN THE SYSTEM, WHICH IT WASN'T. I HAVE A AUTOMATIC 2012 NISSAN ALTIMA W. 130K MILES. WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND IN ORDER FOR ME TO STOP, I HAD TO PLACE MY EMERGENCY BRAKES ON. THE GEAR WAS STUCK IN BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND REVERSE AND UNABLE TO MOVE. THOUGHT IT WAS A SHIFTER CONSOLE, BUT TURNS OUT IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION. IN THIS MODEL CAR, THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST NISSAN FOR FAILING CVT TRANSMISSIONS/ENGINES. MY FAILURE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH ALL THE TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY, I HAD TO MERGE OVER TO THE FAR RIGHT FOR SAFETY. I DROVE MY CAR IMMEDIATELY AFTER TO NISSAN SO THEY COULD VERIFY THIS ISSUE. THEY FAILED TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY RECOMMENDING I INVEST IN A CVT COOLER, DUE TO NOT BEING COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE. A COUPLE MONTHS BACK WHEN THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY I TOOK IT TO NISSAN WITH THE SAME ISSUE, AT THAT TIME THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT DETECT AN ISSUE. BUT NOW MY WARRANTY IS UP THEY'RE SUGGESTING WHAT THE CAR NEEDS. I'M VERY UPSET WITH HOW DANGEROUS THIS CAN BE AND HOW CARELESS NISSAN IS. I WAS INVOLVED IN A 4 CAR PILE UP ON THE HIGHWAY. MY AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF ON IMPACT AND WAS ABOUT 30-40 SEC. DELAYED. AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHEN I WAS UNBUCKLING MY SEATBELT AND GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. MOST OF MY INJURIES WERE CAUSED BY THE AIRBAG. CAR WAS TOTALED I'M MAKING THIS REPORT IN CASE SOMEONE PURCHASES CAR AT AUCTION AND ONLY REPLACES DRIVER AIRBAG HOPEFULLY THEY WILL CHECK CURTAIN AIRBAGS FOR DEFECTS AS WELL SO SOMEONE ELSE DOESN'T GET HURT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSURANCE INSPECTOR WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE AS THE WIRES BEHIND THE ENGINE BLOCK WERE MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.

THIS VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS 3 TIMES NOW. JUST DRIVING ALONG AND IT JUST STARTS SLOWING DOWN ON ITS OWN. RUNNING 70MPH AND IT JUST LOSES POWER AND IT SLOWS TO AROUND 25MPH. FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE GAS PUMP SHUT OFF THINKING THE TANK WAS FULL WHEN IF FACT THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED IT WASN'T FULL, I PROCEEDED TO FILL THE TANK AGAIN AND IT TOOK AN ADDITIONAL 2 GAL. BEFORE IT REGISTERED FULL, I DID THIS TWO OTHER TIMES AND THE SAME THING OCCURRED, IN ADDITION I WOULD DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 60MILES AND THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD SHOW THAT I USED APPROXIMATELY 4-5GAL OF GAS? THIS IS A 4 CLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM, THEY REPLACED THE FUEL FILLER VALVE AND THAT DIDN'T HELP, THEN THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, THAT DIDN'T HELP, I'M SCHEDULED TO GO TO THE DEALER AGAIN. What component or system failed or malfunction and is it available for inspection upon request. The CVT failsafe high fluid temperature protection mode enacted while I was driving on the highway at speeds of 65 to 70 mph going with the flow of traffic it is not available for inspection upon request because this issue only occurs while you're driving down the highway. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My safety and the safety of my passengers and the safety of my fellow commuters was put in jeopardy due to negligence of the manufacturer of the 2012 Nissan Altima when this occurs all acceleration ceases your foot can be all the way to the floor on the gas pedal and your car will not accelerate and in the fast lane on the highway when this happened I became a Sitting Duck in the flow of traffic cars are flying by me and my passengers and I can't get enough speed to change lanes and get out of danger due to a failsafe that Nissan put in these cars on purpose they were fully aware of these issues this is a direct quote from the 2012 Nissan Altima owners manual page 5-17 warning when the high fluid temperature protection mode or fail safe operation occurs vehicle speed may be gradually reduced the reduced speed may be lower than traffic which could increase the chance of a collision be especially careful when driving if necessary pull to the side of the road to a safe place and allow the transmission to return to normal operation or have it reparative necessary. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Unknown. has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer police Insurance Representatives or others. Unknown. Where there any warning lamps messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure and when did they first appear. Zero warning lamps no messages just all of the sudden no acceleration and I am in a very dangerous situation which could have cost many people their lives

WHILE DRIVING FOR 1/2 HOUR OR MORE MY CAR LOSES POWER THIS HAS CAUSED MY CAR TO DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND ALMOST GETTING HIT. IN ORDER TO GET POWER BACK YOU HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT. WE HAVE CHECKED ALL FLUIDS REPLACED SPARK PLUGS BATTERY ALTERNATOR FILTERS AND IT STILL DOES THIS. UPON RESEARCHING THIS I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2012 NISSAN AND DUE TO IT BEING A SAFETY HARVARD SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED.

Our vehicle has been in no collisions or anything and has been well taken care of. Out of nowhere about 3 years our airbag light came on indicating that it will not deploy. We tried to get Nissan to fix it due to hearing of recalls in the past but they said our vehicle was not included. They then said they had to try one thing at a time and the first thing was replacing the seat for $1400 and if that didn't work they will continue down a list of 10 possible things. So basically the vehicle is a deathtrap and we are not sure how it even became that. Seems like it has to be an electrical issue or the issue mentioned in the recall.

JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND NOTICED ON THE TEST DRIVE THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG LIGHT WAS LIT UP INDICATING IT WAS OFF, EVEN THOUGH SOMEONE WAS IN THE SEAT. BROUGHT IT TO THEIR ATTENTION, 5 MINUTES LATER THEY BROUGHT IT BACK CLAIMING IT NEEDED RESET DUE TO A SENSOR HAVING SOMETHING TO DO WITH A CARSEAT. THE LIGHT WASN'T ON WITH A PASSENGER SO I ASSUMED IT WAS FINE. NOW THE LIGHT BRIEFLY ILLUMINATES AT START UP, BUT STAYS OFF REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT SOMEONE IS IN THE SEAT. I HAVE SEEN ABOUT 20 OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE AND IT IS VERY UNSAFE, I NOW HAVE ZERO FAITH THAT THE AIRBAG WILL EVEN DEPLOY. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the steering wheel would emit an abnormal whining noise while both stationary and while making turns in either direction. As the failure persisted, the steering wheel began to vibrate, and excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. A dealer was not notified of the failure. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that her vehicle was not covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V494000 (Steering, Suspension). The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 129,921. Consumer stated RECALL was called due to the rack and pinion of the steering wheel of the car.

UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ON INFINITI'S AND NISSAN'S SINCE 2003. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY NISSAN, BEING IT'S AN ONGOING ISSUE IN ALL MODELS. THE POWER OUTLET IN THE CENTER CONSOLE HAD GONE BAD SO MY HUSBAND CHANGED THE FUSE AND AS SOON AS I STARTED TO DRIVE, MY CAR STARTED JUMPING AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 15MPH. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD BOTH COME ON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THEN CRANKED IT AGAIN, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE CAR DROVE FINE. NOW AT RANDOM TIMES, USUALLY IF THE CAR IS LEFT IDLING, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS BUT IF I TURN THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THEN CRANK IT AGAIN, THE LIGHT IS OFF AND THE CAR RUNS FINE AGAIN. THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED IN 2017 BUT THAT IS THE CODE WE KEEP GETTING WHEN IT IS HOOKED TO A COMPUTER. THE TRANSMISSION WAS ALSO REPLACED IN 2017, NO ISSUES WITH IT SO FAR... NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR BUT IT'S PRETTY SCARY WHEN I'M DRIVING WITH MY 3 KIDS AND THE CAR DECIDES TO LOSE POWER, JUMP ALL OVER THE ROAD AND ONLY DRIVE 15MPH. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST 3 TIMES A DAY AND SINCE THIS IS MY PRIMARY WAY OF TRANSPORTATION, I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE SO IT CAN BE FIXED AND I CAN SAFELY TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN AGAIN.

I JUST RECENTLY REPLACED THE BATTERY IN MY 2012 NISSAN ALTIMA AND NOW I AM HAVING THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: GAUGE CLUSTER IS NOT WORKING AT ALL (ENGINE TEMP, RPM, SPEEDOMETER, GAS). EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORKING FINE. I HAD ALL THE FUSES CHECKED AND ALL ARE WORKING PROPERLY. I TOOK TO DEALER, THEY ARE SAYING REPLACE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, PROGRAM AND RETEST FOR BCM FAILURE(2 CONCERNS-INST CLUSTER NO COMM, POWER AND GROUND PRESENT, U1000 AND CAN SYSTEM DIAG FAILED CLUSTER CAN NOT GET MILEAGE) RETEST FOR BCM FAILURE AFTER INSTALL CLUSTER IS REPLACED (2ND CONCERN IS CAR IS HARD TO TURN ON AND OFF NEED TO REPLACE CLUSTER AND RETEST FOR POSSIBLE BCM FAILURE. MY CAR WAS FINE 1 WEEK AGO AND PASSED THE STATE SAFETY INSPECTION ON 03/25/2017 AT A CERTIFIED INSPECTION PLACE. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE ROAD HEADING TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT. IT WAS A SUNDAY NIGHT, IT JUST STARTED MISTING RAIN. AS I WAS ON THE 2 LANE ITHE ALL OF A SUDDEN APPEARED TO BE RAINING HEAVIER AND I COULD TELL BY THE RAIN CROSSING OVER MY HEADLIGHTS. SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN NORMAL CAUGHT MY EYE, IT LOOKED LIKE ORANGE RAIN, I ASSUMED JUST THE APPEARANCE FROM ONE OF THE BULBS. The vehicle is unsafe to driver and others on the road. The power steering hose has had a leak since it was manufactured and was not fixed by the manufacturer at all! Tie rods gave away within 5 years of a mileage less than 24,200 miles. Cv joints along with tie rods have been easily compromised and damaged causing loss of control and steering .suspensions are no longer in tact nor reliable and will pose a danger. All errors were not found by manufacturer and has caused immediate danger to not only driver but everyone on the road. The engine has a rattle only after 2 years which is not usual.

AFTER PERFORMING THE DIAGNOSTICS, I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME $1500 TO REPAIR. MY QUESTION TO THEM WAS: " WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR THE REPAIR IF THE AIRBAG IS FAULTY?" I ALSO SAID THAT IF THE AIRBAG IS FAULTY, IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCE CHECKED THE SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE FOR MY VEHICLE AND THERE IS NOWHERE IN THE BOOKLET THAT STATES THAT THE AIRBAG IS A MAINTENANCE ITEM FOR THE OWNER. THE AIRBAG IS A SAFETY ITEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER JF IT IS FAULTY AS IS WITH MY VEHICLE. WHAT IS FRIGHTENING IS THAT THE RED LIGHT IS STILL FLASHING ON THE DASHBOARD AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. 2012 NISSAN ALTIMA CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES. ALTIMA HAS RECALLED FROM 2007-2010 AND THEN AGAIN AFTER 2012 FOR THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS. MINE IS DOING THE SAME THINGS AND NISSAN DOESN'T HAVE A WAY FOR ME TO CHECK THE FLUIDS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CAN FIX THE PROBLEM FOR OVER $7000. THIS WAS A USED PRE-CERTIFIED CAR, PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER IN WHICH DID NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES UNTIL ITS WARRANTY WAS PRACTICALLY NO LONGER VALID. THE CARS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES. THE ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED WITH THE USB PORT CONNECTION TO A CELLULAR DEVICE. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL RECOGNIZE THE PHONE, OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE USB TO PHONE CONNECTION, TURN THE USB CORD AROUND AND RECONNECT A FEW TIMES FOR THE RADIO TO RECOGNIZE THE PHONE. AFTER THIS ISSUES, ONE SPEAKER WENT OUT. LATER ON, A SECOND SPEAKER WENT OUT. I REPLACED BOTH SPEAKERS TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS POSSIBLE THE IN-CAR AMPLIFIER BLEW. AFTER THIS, THE RADIO UNIT WOULD AT TIMES GO COMPLETELY BLACK, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. AFTER THIS, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR NO LONGER LOCKS ELECTRONICALLY, I HAVE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DRIVER SIDE DOOR MANUALLY BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES INDEED WORK. AFTER THESE ISSUES, I NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON FOR A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. I CLEANED THE SENSOR, AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT AWAY. ABOUT 300 MILES LATER, IT CAME BACK ON AND THE CAR HESITATES/BUCKS CONSISTENTLY WITH A LOSS OF POWER ONCE THE SPEED HITS ABOUT 60 MPH. I-75 HILLS, I CAN NO LONGER ACCELERATE TO MAINTAIN SPEEDS. I REPLACED THE MAF SENSOR, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I HAD IT CLEARED FROM O'REILLY'S SINCE THE SAME CODE WAS APPEARING ON THE CAR. AFTER 10 MILES SITTING IN IDLE, THE TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR APPEARED. 10 MILES AFTERWARDS THIS ON I-75, THE CAR WILL NOT CLIMB HILLS, DROPS POWER, BUCKS AND JERKS THE CAR FORWARD AND BACK. I STOPPED AT A PART STORE, TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR GOES AWAY, ENGINE LIGHT COMES BACK ON WITH SAME CODE READING. I CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I'VE READ A LOT OF ARTICLES ABOUT THIS, NO ONE HAS FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX THIS.

TRAVELING WEST ON HWY 44 STARTED HAVING TROUBLE GOING UP HILLS. PUT PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, AND NOTHING EXTRA. IT WAS STARVING FOR FUEL. TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK HOME, EVENTUALLY STOPPING IN SULLIVAN MO. I THEN HAD ANOTHER SEMI RIDING IN REAR VIEW MIRROR, AND WAS FEARFUL OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN. I WAS EVENTUALLY PASSED BY SEMI ON RIGHT , I GOT OVER, AND THEN THE SEMI ON THE LEFT PASSED. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WAS NOT A GOOD SITUATION. I HAVE SEEN ON-LINE THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST NISSAN, BUT NO RECALL FOR THE CVT'S. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A MUST. EVEN THE GUY AT NISSAN HAD TOLD ME THAT HE HAS HEARD OF MANY STORIES JUST LIKE THIS. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT/KILLED IF NOTHING IS DONE. TAKATA RECALL, I HAVE A 2012 NISSAN ALTIMA AND I PURCHASED FROM A DEALER IN JAN 2015. I BELIEVE THIS CAR MUST BE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. IT'S A PRE-OWNED CAR. JUST AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 1.5YRS, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION BROKEN. THE SPEED DROPS TO 30MILES/HR FROM 65MILES/HR WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THERE WERE CARS BEHIND ME. IT'S SO DANGEROUS. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE DRIVER BEHIND ME REACTED VERY QUICKLY AND DIDN'T HIT ME. IT WAS UNDER THE WARRANTY SO THEY REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER OF THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, JUST THIS PAST WEEKEND I WAS DRIVING UPHILL ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD AND A SIMILAR PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. MY CAR CAN'T SHIFT CORRECTLY AND THE SPEED DROPS TO 25 MILES/HR FROM 40MIELS/HR. ON MONDAY NIGHT AT 12:00AM I WAS DRIVING FROM CALIFORNIA TO LAS VEGAS NEVADA. I WAS GOING 75 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO LOOSE SPEED. THE EXCEL-ORATOR WOULD NOT MOVE AND HAD LOCKED.THE CAR SPEED HAD DROPPED TO 40MPH AND WOULD NOT MOVE. THERE WAS A SEMI IN FRONT OF ME AND TWO OTHER VEHICLES TO THE SIDE OF ME. I ALMOST GOT INTO A BIG ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE. TERRIFIED, I BEGAN TO PANIC SO I SHUT THE CAR OFF. I DROVE THE NEXT 60 MILES TO VEGAS GOING 30MPH THE CAR WOULD NOT GO TO A HIGHER SPEED. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT WAS A SAFETY FEATURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, ONE OF THE TIRES FLATTENED. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION AXLE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION FLUID PAN WAS CRACKED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,150.

DRIVING LONG DISTANCES MY CAR OVERHEATS, LOOSES POWER GOING FROM 70 MPH DOWN TO 40 MPH IN HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. I AM FORCED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND LET IT RESET ITSELF. IT HAS ALWAYS MADE A WHINING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION, AND THE BRAKES HAVE SQUEAKED FROM DAY ONE. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO NISSAN SEVERAL TIMES AND AM ALWAYS BEEN GIVEN LAME EXCUSES. NOW THAT MY WARRANTY IS UP THEY HAVE A SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEMS. NEW TRANSMISSION OR OVERHEAT CONVERTER TO THE TUNE OF $1600. HOW CONVENIENT THEY HAVE A SOLUTION NOT THAT MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY!! THEY REFUSE TO HELP ME OR FIX MY CAR UNLESS I FORK OVER THE MONEY. MY CAR HAS HAD PROBLEMS SINCE I PURCHASED IT AND THERE WAS NEVER ANY RESOLVE. WITH NOTHING IN THE SEAT, IT COMES ON AND OFF, WITH A PERSON IN THE SEAT IT ALSO COMES ON AND OFF. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT DIDN'T DO IT WHILE THEY WERE LOOKING AT IT. BRING IT BACK WHEN IT GETS WORSE.... THERE ARE ALOT OF THESE CARS OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM! PURCHASED MY 2012 NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE 8/2/2012. IN JUST OVER 30 DAYS THE PAINT WAS COMING OFF THE REAR BUMPER ON BOTH SIDES NEAR THE REAR TIRE WHERE THE BUMPER MEETS THE BODY OF THE CAR. TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE THE BUMPER REPAINTED. WITHIN 60 DAYS THE PAINT WAS COMING OFF IN THE SAME PLACE AGAIN. TOOK THE CAR BACK LAST MONTH AND WAS REPAINTED WITH 3 FLAWS...NEEDLESS TO SAY IT HAS TO GO BACK YET AGAIN!! ALSO, WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF PURCHASE I NOTICED THAT THE RADIO WOULD NOT PICK UP LOCAL RADIO STATIONS WITHOUT A LOT OF STATIC AND INTERFERENCE. ONLY 1 OUT OF 12 PRESETS DO I GET ON A CONSISTENT BASIS AND I ONLY DRIVE WITHIN A 25-30 MILE RADIUS OF MY HOME. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE WINDOW TINT. GAVE THEM INFORMATION FROM 3M THAT THE TINT WOULD NOT INTERFERE WITH THE RADIO AND THEN THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HEAR IT. TAKEN BACK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND NO RESOLVE. NOTICED 3/17/2013 THAT MY LEATHER WRAPPED STEERING WHEEL HAS SPLIT IN THE GRAIN OF LEATHER AND IT IS RIGHT WHERE MY RIGHT HAND GOES TO DRIVE. TRANSMISSION IS NOT CONSISTENT...WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS BRIEFLY IT IS AS IF SOMEONE HAS HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CAR "DRAWS BACK"...VERY ANNOYING!!! I ALSO PURCHASED XZILON PAINT PROTECTION SYSTEM AT THE DEALERS RECOMMENDATION BECAUSE THE CAR IS BLACK AND I LIVE IN FL...NOW 7 MONTHS LATER THIS PROTECTANT HAS COMPLETELY RUINED THE PAINT ON MY CAR AND SHOWS HORRIBLE MARKS ON THE HOOD AND LEAVES TERRIBLE WATER SPOTS ON THE VEHICLE THAT ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE. MY DRIVEWAY IS STEEP HOUSE SITS DOWN WAS PROCEEDING FORWARD DOWN DRIVEWAY TO ENTER GARAGE. I HAD BRAKES NO WARNINGS OR INDICATORS ANYTHING WAS WRONG. TOP OF DRIVE HAD BRAKES ON, THEN LET OFF LITTLE TO ALLOW CAR TO GO FORWARD.
