I am writing to formally escalate a serious safety issue with my 2014 Nissan Altima. My vehicle is affected by the known halogen headlamp delamination defect, which Nissan has previously acknowledged in a warranty extension and service campaign. Recently, because of the dangerously dim headlights, I struck a speed bump and damaged my vehicle. More importantly, I nearly hit pedestrians crossing the street because I could not see them in time. This is a life-threatening safety hazard directly caused by the defective headlamps. When I contacted my local Nissan dealer, they refused to honor the warranty/service campaign. I was told I would need to pay approximately $2,300 for repairs because the warranty extension expired in 2020. However, I did not begin noticing headlight visibility issues until 2022, well after the coverage period had ended. This demonstrates that the defect often develops after the expiration period and should still be addressed as a known, documented safety defect.

1. Component/System Failed: Halogen headlamp assemblies (low beams) malfunctioned due to delamination of the reflective surface, causing dimming. Available for inspection upon request. I have had the issue for years. Hard to see at night. 2. Safety Risk: Dim low beams reduce nighttime visibility, increasing risk of collisions. Using high beams to compensate may blind other drivers, creating further hazards. 3. Problem Reproduced/Confirmed: Not yet confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Issue matches known defect in 2013-2018 Altima halogen headlamps (TSB NTB15-111). 4. Inspections: No inspections by police, or insurance yet. I did have it inspected with the Santa Rosa California (Jim Bone) Nissan dealer inspection under Voluntary Service Campaign (PC861/PC890). That dealer said it was not bad however the headlights were bad before and after that so I believe they lied or didn’t test it correctly. That was in 2022 I believe. 5. Warning Signs/Symptoms: Gradual low-beam dimming noticed, first observed around 2017 perhaps. I just thought it was bad but it got worse. I saw in 2020 or 2021 some notice about a class action lawsuit (Suarez?) that Nissan lost so I tried to get them to fix it but they had various dates they said claims had to be done and it was confusing. I called Vallejo Nissan and they said I had to wait. Later it kept getting worse. No warning lamps; low beams too dim for safe driving, requiring high beams. 6. Description (if uncertain): Low beams are dim, compromising safe nighttime driving. Issue aligns with reported delamination defect in halogen headlamp assemblies. Exact onset date/mileage UNKNOWN. Sought dealers inspection for replacement under Nissan’s campaign but they didn’t take care of it. Nissan should be held responsible if any deaths, injuries or damages result from this issue. They should fix this asap! This is a major common issue you should already have on file.

My headlights are so dim, that I’m forced to drive with my high beams at night or not drive at all. I’ve replace the bulbs and there has been no improvement.

The headlights are extremely dim due to Nissan's design flaw. There was a settlement in 2022 to have these replaced for free. However, the Nissan dealership conveniently passed my headlights (as well as many others, as stated in online forums), and we were unable to qualify for the replacements despite the lights being so dim that I had to switch to my high-beam lights in many situations. Now, after the settlement has expired, Nissan has failed my headlights and is asking for $1360 to replace the assembly. I find this action from Nissan to be in bad faith.

When an adult is riding in the front passenger seat the airbag on the passenger turns off and on randomly while riding. If in an accident I am worried that the airbag will not go off properly. I have not contacted a dealer about this issue yet. I have not seen any other warning lights other than the passenger airbag is off.

The contact stated that the air bag warning light had been illuminated on the instrument panel after the vehicle was serviced for an air bag recall(recall unknown). Years later, the check engine warning light also appeared on the instrument panel, and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the check engine light failure; however, the mechanic also informed the contact that the air bag warning light needed to be checked and referred the contact back to the dealer. The contact called the dealer that performed the recall and informed them about the failure that occurred years prior. The contact was informed that due to the long stretch of time that had passed since the repair, the contact would have to pay for a diagnostic to be performed on the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and spoke to a manager who later agreed to wave the diagnostic fee. The contact was then informed that the back seat assembly and side air bag sensor had failed; the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

There was an airbag recall around 2016 for airbags. I took it to the dealer and they checked it out and said there was no problem. Now my air bag light stays on and the dealer says I need a new air bag in the driver's seat. Is this airbag covered under the recall?

The contact turned off the vehicle. My 2014 Nissan transmission failed at 95,000 miles in less than 10 years. I had to get it replaced. It failed at the middle of an intersection. Multiple people have had the same problem with this model Nissan.

Metal shavings detected in transmission oil (under code P17F1) - car only has 90,000 miles. Dealership quoted $5,760 to fix. This is a common problem with the make/model and should have been recalled. Current extended warranty only covers 5 years, previous models' (Nissan altima 2007-2010) extended warranty for this same issue covered 10 years.

transmission failed twice. first time i would have to floor the gas for the car to accelerate. i took to dealer, warranty was still active and transmission was replaced. again, about 13 or 14 mo later the transmission failed again. i had it replaced again. i have receipts for all work. the car has been driving fair the last 12 months.

Was driving one day hit a pothole and my control arm dispositioned itself. Apparently my car had an extended warranty that expired last year. However, with the information that I’m able to provide, I’m not sure if Nissan will be able to work with me to get that fixed, but I do recognize that it is a common problem. I have looked under the car, and I did see the corroded piece from the control arm linked to the staring system. I know not too many people still even have a 2014. However, I do feel it is unfair for a part that led to safety issues for several people to be considered a warranty.

We own a 2014 Nissan Altima. We are the second owners. About a month ago, my son was driving and the left rear lower control arm (Link) broke in half. After repairing and researching, there was an extended warranty offered by Nissan for 10 years from the manufacturer date. We are 13 months over that. When calling, I spoke to Chelsea and Trainsha (Who is the Northeast Regional supervisor) and both told me we are out of warranty and can do nothing. We were never contacted by Nissan to advise of this warranty. This was a known problem by Nissan back in 2018 they knew this was an issue on 2013-2018 Altimas in snow belt states. We are one of those states. I questioned why we were never contacted and why it wasn’t a recall. They said they do not decide on recalls and there are not many incidents. There is nothing they can do. So they are not only allowing all these vehicles to continue to drive on the road with risk of breaking and causing accident and possible injury, but they are also ok with not letting people know there was a problem to begin with. Why after 10 years can they say “Too bad for you” and risk peoples lives? This is a metal control arm. They acknowledge they made it incorrectly. Metal suspension components should last well beyond 10 years. Only the bushings and ball joints should need to be replaced. Why is a corporation allowed to get away with this. I am asking that someone look into this. They are saying they do not have a lot of incidents. Well, if they never let anyone know there was a problem, how would they know how many incidents they really had. We need to hold auto manufacturers accountable for their vehicles. Not just when they are brand new but for longer on metal components that are not wearable parts.

Sept 1 2025 hood latch failed causing hood to fly open to full vertical position causing body damage to both fenders and completely taking away visibility of roadway. Latch was replaced by Nissan dealer in 2022 for recall. Nissan dealer verified failed component and replaced at no charge but NISSAN USA would not repair body damage.

The left rear arm snapped completely and is now dangling along with the spring link and other parts connected to it. The car is not drivable and I have to have a on-site mechanic come out to fix it. I had been driving the car on the highway the day it happened and luckily made it back to my house, then about 20 minutes later I had to go back out but when I put the car into reverse and started backing down the driveway a loud snap followed by scraping metal occurred. Now the car is stationary on the curb. The right rear arm's condition is also bad, showing signs of snapping in the near future as well. My mechanic along with research I've conducted has informed me that this is an extremely common problem with nissan sedans that happen frequently. I had insurance on this exact part of the car but it unfortunately expired May of this year. I filed a claim with Nissan directly and they proved to serve no help. If the rear arm had snapped just a little bit earlier in the day when I was on the highway it would have most likely resulted in major accident that would have left me injured.

My Nissan Altima would not accelerate properly. I was told that to drive the car could put me at risk as the car might totally stop. The dealer diagnosed that the CVT transmission failed. It cost over $5,000 to replace the transmission. 1. Is there any recourse as a consumer? 2. I understand that Nissan has been involved in several class action lawsuits, but I don't know what happened. Is there agency that can help me with information?

While driving on a highway at approximately 40 mph. My car lurched and felt like I lost control of the steering. I slowed down and it felt like the car was straight but the steering wheel was turned. I thought maybe I had a flat tire. I drove again slower and the same thing happened. I heard a sound that sounded like a flat tire- a constant thumping noise. I had the car towed to a repair shop and the repairman said I had rusted lower control arms that should be covered by an extended warranty that I was never notified of an issue from Nissan. When contacting Nissan they said the extended warranty ran out and I would have to wait approximately one month without a car for them to do an inspection. Had this incident happened 2 months ago I beleive the repair would have covered. I'm so upset that something might have happened more tragically. I wanted to make the NHTSA aware of the problem. Do I have any recourse? The said it would take a month to have an inspection done by Nissan. How does one go without a car for a month?

I was driving to work. 2 minutes after I exited the expressway, my car made a popping sound and I was unable to control or steer my car properly. I later found out that the control arm on my car was broken. If it broke 2 minutes earlier, I would've crashed my car on the expressway and I could have lost my life and/or endangered the life of others. Nissan apparently had an extended warranty on the control arm. There should've been a safety recall instead!

The hood latch recall was done June 2022, but it became malfunction 1 year after recall was done. When driving, the hood flies up and almost hit the windshield. Luckily I didn't drive on the highway. Called the dealer and said it was out of the warranty which is 1 year or 10000 miles after the recall. Why this important parts have so short warranty. The hood can't be open when I closed it after the incident . And the dealer said it will cost $500 to open and fix them.

I was driving on the freeway and my hood popped and shattered my windshield. Why would you guys even allow a car on the roads with a defect as such? This is extremely dangerous! Now I am pretty much w/o transportation. I'm even more upset that I had to find out about the defect the hard way, to see that this is a known issue. What's next? looks like a few people have complained about this issue, even after you guys supposedly fixed it. So, apparently your little fix didn't work. So, offering a new hood and window is NOT an option, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE ESPECIALLY WITH LITTLE PIECES OF GLASS IN MY SKIN AND IN MYT BOYFRIENDS SKIN!! There was also damaged on the inside of the car that HIT ME IN MY HEAD AND FACE!!!!!!!!!!!

My hood slammed open when I was driving on the parkway. I entered the parkway ( Route 28) in Pittsburgh, Pa during rush hour. Three to four cars entered the road seconds before me. While I attempted to gain speed to keep up with the rush hour traffic and avoid being hit by the on coming traffic my car hood slammed open. The auto body shop stated the fenders on both side need to be repaired or replaced. There may be damage to the hood, unknown until repair is performed. I had the hood latched recalled correction done to my car in late August or early September 2021. The latch is more prone to disengage after the repair. Nissan chooses not to make any repairs to my car.

I parked my car, I tried to exit my automobile. The front driver side door would not open, the handle being very loose. I had to climb over the console and exit the passenger side of the auto. At 82 years of age, this maneuver was something certainly not expected. After exiting the car, I tried the driver side door from the outside, the door opened. I drove the car to the Nissan service center. The service employee said that he has seen this happen about 3 or 4 times and that it was a poorly designed This interior. He quoted me a price of $500 to $600 to fix the problem. I would hate to think of my husband who has arthritis as well as circulatory problems being in this situation. God forbid if someone had to exit the car in an emergency. I wouldn't want to think of being trapped in this vehicle if an emergency exit was warranted.

I was driving on a 2 lane highway when my car starting bucking and completely went dead. I walked to a station where i got help. after that it happened again and I had to be towed. After having car looked at by 2 mechanics I found out it was the transmission. The mechanic said he was surprised as I didn't even have 70,000 miles on car. It cost me over $5,000 for the transmission and then I came to find out about all the Nissan recalls. I wrote a letter to them and attached articles and my proof of receipt from transmission place, and explained that I am a senior on a fixed income and just wanted the money to cover expenses of what the transmission costs due to their faulty transmissions. They said they could not help me. Also, my sons car came to have the same transmission problem but he got rid of it.

We have a 2014 Nissan Altima. Last few months it has not been driving right. We have had mechanics look at it with no answer. When the problems got worse, suggestions were made that a new transmission was needed. No one was wanting to work on it at that point. The car finally broke down while at a stoplight and we had to have it towed home. When we went to the bank, we were told that in that timeframe of when 2014 Altima’s were manufactured, a new type of transmission was installed. Then was told after a few years the transmission went bad. I would like to know if there is any truth to this, and if our Altima was a statistic of that.

I have purchased low pressure AC hose part from the local Nissan Altima dealer as there is a mechanical design issue where the low pressure AC hose is rubbing with the other part and causing a damage to the hose thus leaking refrigerant gas and spilling on the floor. I have replaced this part twice. The first time I replaced this part did not understand the real issue, the second time I have taken a closer look and found out that the low pressure ac hose is rubbing with the other part of the engine which is next to it, I went back to the dealer and informed the situation and requested to cover the warranty. He did not even bothered to look into my issue and ignored me. I had to replace the part twice due to a poor design issue and this is also a safety hazard. I have then contacted Nissan Manufacturer customer service and explained the issue, they also ignored my complaint without a resolution. I request your intervention and resolve this issue.

Information entertainment system is completely inoperable. no backup camera or navigation or audio. Screen is black no power. without cameras there is safety risk to those near vehicle. Dealer quoted nearly $200 to look at it and run a diagnostic. we declined this offer but am willing to have it inspected. There are no messages or warning lamps on now or prior. it is unknown what caused this failure. all fuses are in tact. Thank you.

I CONTACTED NISSAN THEY INFORM ME THAT THIS ISSUE WOULD BE INVESTIGATED HOWEVER THEY STILL HAVEN'T CONTACTED ME BACK . I CHANGED THE HEADLIGHT MULTIPLE TIME , ALSO I HAD THE HEADLIGHT RESTORATION . HOWEVER THAT SILL HAVEN'T RESOLVED THE ISSUE . The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for an oil change, the independent mechanic informed her that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the independent mechanic hard reset the code; however, while she was driving the vehicle, the ABS warning light, the brake warning light, TPMS warning light, traction warning light, check engine warning light, and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle’s computer was not communicating as designed. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the CVT transmission and ECM needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would only cover 50% of the transmission repair under an unknown recall as the vehicle had been out of warranty for 5 months. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

My Altima is 9 years old now and I know things go bad overtime but my headlights are so dim I can’t see 2 feet in front of me at night snd it’s very very dangerous. I know Nissan had s class action and I was signed up and even had an appointment to fix but sadly my husband got shit while driving home from work in Chicago, he survived thankfully but the next several months revolves around him and doctor appointments, surgeries,etc… and I missed my slot. I think it’s very unfair because these we’re getting dimmer and dimmer since 2016-2017 with the past 3 years so fin you can’t see at all. I’m so afraid I’m going to be able to see and hurt someone badly, and that would kill me in itself!! I personally am not financially able to replace these yet bc it’s pubs 1500-3000 to fix if need be. When I bought the car the headlights were dim they driver side headlight keeps burning out they said it wasn't covered under the warranty whatsoever but yet you can't see at night to drive if it is dark I cannot drive my car never have been able to since about it but yet Nissan says nothing's wrong with it hit the repairs on me this is not the first time I've made a complaint about this but it does no good

Defective headlamps that delaminate and result in dimming of the low beam headlights. Driving at night is hazardous. My car failed headlight inspection at dealership on 5/07/22. Claimed that my car was not reflected in the system as one eligible for free replacement under the class action lawsuit depsite the fact I followed all instructions. Furthermore the dealerships do not have the headlights in stock and are on backorder. They cannot give a date when they will be in. And the cost is $1400!!!!! I fear this car and other Nissan cars with dimming headlights are accidents waiting to happen. I limit my driving at night and use high beams when possible. I am a senior citizen with vision issues. I been trying to fix my vehicle recalls at my nearest location but they just don't got the time to work on my car, i experienced a terrible situation when i was driving on the freeway back from Los Angeles my hood opened i thank good i was driving less than 65mph with a few cars around me and my reactions was not too panic and slowly looking in all directions was able too pull aside of the freeway and closed the hood, I had family in my car and I just thank god nothing major happened I just can't imagine how terrible the situation could of end for my family and mine if i would of been going faster and not paying attention we could of lost our lives , i really do not feel safe at all driving this vehicle with my family anymore but this is our only transportation , I honestly want Nissan to upgrade me a new car i do not feel safe at all even after you guys fix it , I do not want to risk a similar situation again pleas contact me at [XXX]. I own a Nissan Altima 2014 SV 4 cylinder. While driving the car stops moving and it just relies on momentum, the gas pedal stops functioning. This has happened to me multiple times I then have to turn off the car and turn it back on so it can work and it does the same thing again. I stepped on the gas pedal all the way to the floor and it doesn't respond. I started doing research and I ran into this website where people are suffering from the same problem and it has put my life and multiple people's lives in danger. These cars all range in year but the make and model is the same, Nissan Altima. I saw some posts that stated that they had the same problem with very low mileage on their vehicles. I took it to the dealership they weren't able to fix it and they gave it to me back malfunctioning and with the same safety issue and the check engine light on. I would kindly ask that this department gets involved immediately. The dealership wanted me to pay a diagnostic and refused to check the car unless I purchased new battery car terminals. I ended paying for a service I didn't need to get a car that was still malfunctioning. I refused to pay for the diagnostic after a 20 minute discussion they decided not to charge me but I had to fight for the fee to be waived. When the car is at a complete stop and the light turns green and it’s time to go it has a small delay for about 4-6 seconds where the car won’t move. It picks up after those 4-6 seconds. Once you turn off the car it resets itself but later on through the day it happens again . It happens to me about 2 times a day. It’s extremely scary when you’re in traffic and your car Just sits there because you can’t go.

The visibility of the headlamps at normal brightness are very dim. I have read about numerous lawsuits regarding this, including a class action, but when I have gone to the dealer with the information postcard that I received in the mail, I am told by Nissan that I am "outside of the window" to have them replaced with newer brighter lamps. Per the website for the class action lawsuit, it should be for 2013-2018 Nissan Altimas ([XXX], et al. v. Nissan North America, Inc., Case No.[XXX]) http://www.altimaheadlightsettlement.com/ I feel that Nissan is avoiding this issue, although there are MANY Nissan Altimas that have headlights that are not hardly bright at all. I personally had at least one issue with a deer strike that I believe could have been prevented if my headlights worked properly. IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IT AT NIGHT AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PUT MY SAFETY OR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS IN JEOPARDY JUST BECAUSE NISSAN HAS A FLAWED SYSTEM THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE. THE HALOGEN PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM AS TIME GOES ON AND NEW BULBS DO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. OTHER ALTIMA OWNERS REPORT THIS SAME ISSUE AND I SUSPECT THAT THE BOWL WITH REFLECTIVE COATING ON THE PROJECTORS IS BAD. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM AND CAN ONLY ILLUMINATE LESS THAN 100 FEET. THE HIGH BEAMS DO NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE AS THEY ARE ONLY HALOGEN BULBS AND NOT PROJECTORS. ONE MUST DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON TO SAFELY SEE ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON DARK STREETS AND THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR SURROUNDING DRIVERS EITHER.

The dealer was contacted and stated that the airbag harness under the driver’s seat had malfunctioned. The airbag and seat had not been replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under the warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

The airbag light is always on. When the car is taken to a dealer for inspection, they said that the sensor under the seat is not working properly. We worry that the airbag may not deploy during an accident because the seat cannot sense the people sitting on it. It is definitely dangerous The problem has been identified by a Nissan dealer. The vehicle was inspected by the manufacturer. The airbag light stays on, even after the dealer clearing the code. It seems a lot of Nissan Altima have a similar problem.

On my 2014 Nissan Altima, sometimes from a stop when accelerating there is a delay. RPM's do not go up, just no movement. But if you leave the gas pedal engaged when the motor decides to work it hits hard. The danger is entering traffic. It's very scary. If it was to happen to my wife she would panic and press the accelerator more and that also creates a whole different situation... I have read that "Nissan" is not claiming any responsibility for this problem and actually hasn't fixed any customers cars because they cannot recreate this failure! Thank you, Tom

I EXPERIENCED A GRINDING, SHAKING NOISE AT 2.0 RPM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND THAT WAS WHEN ALL OF MY TROUBLES BEGAN. THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND JERK WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THERE WAS NOW A VIBRATION AT 1.5 RPM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT A BELT WAS LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME AND IT STILL WAS NOT DRIVING SMOOTHLY AND NOW THE ENTIRE GEAR CONSOLE WAS LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FROM EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE UPON STARTING, EVEN WHEN THE GEAR SHIFT WAS MOVED. IT WOULD TAKE TWO TRIES EACH TIME TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE FROM PARK. THE VEHICLE WENT BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE GEAR CONSOLE WAS ADJUSTED. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE - VEHICLE NOT MOVING WHEN GEAR PLACED IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. THIS WEEKEND (4/30/16) I DROVE THE VEHICLE IN VIRGINIA AND HAD TO NAVIGATE SEVERAL HIGH ELEVATIONS WHILE ON THE I-81 HIGHWAY. THE CAR WAS SLUGGISH AT BEST, DRAGGING AND THE GEARS WOULD NOT CHANGE. THE CAR WAS RACING LOUDLY TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH THE SPEED, RPM WAS UP AT 3.5 AND THE CAR WAS AT 50 MLES; SPEED LIMIT WAS 70. ONCE I CLEARED THE HILL THE RPMS LEVELED OUT TO 1.5 AND THE CAR HELD THE 70 MPH SPEED. NOTE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PERFORMING THIS WAY BEFORE THE "NEW TRANSMISSION" WAS INSTALLED. I DID HAVE THE GRINDING AND RACING NOISE AT 2.0 RPM, BUT NO HESITATION, JERKING OR ANY DIFFICULTIES IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THAT LEADS ME TO CONCLUDE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ALSO LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHOM I AM AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM ON MY COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 18,694 MILES AND WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST OF 2014.

My son purchased a used 2014 Nissan Altima 4 months ago from a dealership. He noticed it shuttering, delayed acceleration and not having power as well as a noise from the transmission. It had no check engine light but the code P17F1 CVT Judder came up. We looked for recalls and there have been so many on 2014 Nissan Altima's. His VIN number didn't come up for a recall. He paid $6000 for the car and only had it for 4 months, now he is out of a car. The dealership basically said its out of our hands. We can't afford to take it to a transmission shop and have them work hours on it. It is very unsafe to drive and I am concerned what he is going to do. Is there a chance that NIssan would help in this case? It is unfair that he has the issue that so many were recalled but for some reason not his. If you have advise please help. Thanks

While driving, the car began to hesitate and studder during acceleration. I had to stop at a red light. Once I began to drive again the car shut off and the engine and battery icon came on. I was able to start the car again and move out of traffic. However, the studdering/hesitance continue. I called AAA to complete a battery and diagnostic test which they found no problems with battery, cables, alternator, etc. I was told to contact the dealer and report it. I contacted Nissan and was told there’s no recalls.

I PURCHASED A USED 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH 58,000 MILES. IT DROVE GREAT DURING TEST DRIVING AND ON MY WAY HOME WHICH IS 1 HOUR AWAY FROM WHERE I LIVE. BY DAY 2 THE CAR BEGAN JERKING AROUND 60 MI PER HR. AND UNDER. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. BY DAY 4 ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP THE RPM WOULD JUMP UP TO 4 AND THE CAR MADE A WINDING NOISE. IT WOULD ADVANCE FORWARD QUICKLY AND THEN STALL. ALL OF THIS WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I CAME TO A PLACE WHERE I COULD PULL OVER WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THEN TRIED TO PULL OFF THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ANYWHERE. I FINALLY HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SUNLIGHT REFLECTS OFF OF THE BEIGE AND GLOSSY BLACK INTERIOR FINISHES AND CAUSES A MIRROR IMAGE OF THE INTERIOR SURFACES/GLARE ONTO THE FRONT AND REAR WINDSHIELDS. THE GLARE ON THE GLASS IS VERY BRIGHT AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND TRAFFIC SIGNS AS WELL AS ANY OTHER OBJECT IN THE GLARE ZONE. While driving, the Altima’s rear control arm and suspension links broke due to corrosion resulting in loss of safe control of the vehicle. Nissan is aware that this is a problem with this year and make vehicle. They issued an extension of the warranty for this issue. This should be a mandatory recall for safety concerns, not simply a warranty extension. This is a very dangerous issue that can lead to serious injury! Very upset that money is valued over human life. When these parts fail, the vehicle is not safe.

Rear control arm broke while driving.

While turning onto the entrance ramp to the highway, the lower rear control arm on the passenger side cracked and separated from the rest of the vehicle. The only thing holding the wheel on to the vehicle was a suspension coil. Steering and control of the vehicle became intermittent and I had no idea what was happening. I was driving with my pregnant daughter in the passenger seat. The "slippery road" warning light appeared on the dashboard but no other warnings or alerts. We were not injured. The vehicle was towed to our automotive repair shop. The auto repair noted that they had fixed this issue on Nissan Altima in the past and the repair was covered by Nissan. The nissanassist website states there is "a service campaign in states with high road salt usage to replace the rear suspension lower link. On some affected vehicles, and under severe corrosion conditions, one of the rear lower suspension links may corrode and separate at the bushing joint area". I live in Buffalo, NY area which is a high-salt state. Nissan will not cover this repair ($1146.57 includes NYS taxes) because the campaign does not include my VIN and was for 2013 models; my vehicle is 2014. The auto repair shop told us that the lower control arm in my 2014 vehicle was a 2013 part, so it was subject to the same defect that prompted the 2013 recall. Nissan refuses any assistance with this repair and says the VIN number is not included on the lower suspension link repair. If this type of corrosion in a high salt state resulting in breakage is a known covered issue with the 2013 model, and my 2014 model Nissan was assembled with the 2013 control arm parts, then my vehicle should not be excluded.

Rear passenger wheel has been rattling for a year. While driving (right now), car began to fishtail going approx 35mph. Was able to pull off and avoid accident. Upon examination, described wheel is no longer facing forward and is facing inward. Likely that the rear controller snapped. There is a service campaign for this exact issue. Nissan is no longer covering the cost of this repair which is insane given that I was never notified of this issue.

transmission felt as if it was slipping into different gears while driving forward. pulled vehicle over put it in park and then put it in reverse- at that time the vehicle went forward instead of reverse. at that time the vehicle was put into park and turned off. Waited a few minutes and then turned vehicle back on, put it into drive and it took 10 sec to drive forward I then put the vehicle in reverse and the same thing happened, it took 10 seconds to move in reverse. took the vehicle in and the repair man said it was the CVT- I have 93K miles on the car. It has been in storage since July 2020.

My mother in law was driving this vehicle with 3 of her grandchildren (one was my son). She noticed the car seemed squirrelly on the highway. They stopped at a Restaurant and called me. I drove there and took a look. The right rear wheel was at a terrible angle. I looked underneath and noticed the right rear control arm was nearly broken apart. Picture will be attached. This could have ended much differently. The car was towed to a shop and they noticed both the left and right control arms needed to be replaced as they were both rusted out. This is on a car that was kept in a garage it's entire life. The shop told us there is a recall for Altimas for this but not for our VIN number. Why this recall was not for the vehicle is unbelievable.

The rear lower suspension link on our car cracked and completely separated causing the car to be un-drivable. My husband was pulling out of a parking lot with our son and my son’s friend [XXX] and [XXX] old) and the car started fishtailing. We were lucky this happened at a very low rate of speed. The next day my husband would have been on a highway and I’m sure we would be talking about injuries or worse instead of just a tow. Nissan knew about this issue but failed to tell their customers directly of the issue. They extended the warranty to 10 years and unlimited miles but DID NOT inform owners of the defect, warranty extension OR the ability to get it fixed (and Nissan admitted to this that they didn’t have to tell customers). They told us that in midwestern states (we are in Illinois) the rear lower link could rust quicker with the salt and break. There were no warning signs of the issue that we noticed and no one mentioned any issues when we’ve had it in the shop. Nissan however only agreed to pay half of the cost to fix it since we are 4 months past the date of the extended warranty. This is a problem that should have been communicated to us in the first place so we could have had it fixed before it completely separated. The regional specialist who made this decision was completely uncaring when expressing concerns of how this could have had a much worse outcome. We asked for towing to be re-imbursed and for a rental car and both were denied. Rental car we were told was at the dealerships discretion to which they said they would need to get approval from the person who told us the dealership decided that. So we have been without our car for 2 weeks now having to juggle around 2 kids and their activities and our own jobs. We are very lucky that this issue known to Nissan didn’t end in a far worse outcome with injuries to my family. Unfortunately we don’t have the invoice for the repair cost yet as it’s still in the shop. They said it would be around $500. TAKATA RECALL: THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR IN MY 2014 ALTIMA HAS SOMEHOW BROKEN FROM THE INSIDE-OUT. I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT IT BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING OVER THE LAST YEAR. IT WILL NOT STAY CLIPPED INTO PLACE AND IT SEEMS THE CLIP OR SOME PIECE INSIDE OF THE VISOR AFFECTS THE ABILITY FOR THE VISOR TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VISOR BEING BROKEN IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IT PROHIBITS MY VIEW AS THE DRIVER AND THE VISOR SWINGS INTO MY VIEW WHEN TURNING. WHEN THE VISOR IS LOCKED IN PLACE, I HAVE TO CROUCH DOWN TO SEE UNDER IT. IT SEEMS TO BE A HAZARD AND CONCERN FOR MANY OTHER NISSAN OWNERS. I was driving on the freeway and my hood popped up and smashed my roof and everything inside the ceiling onto my lap. The lighting and visor broken. Roof and hood damaged. I luckily survived this. I am leading this car. I took it to Nissan when this happened. They said they’d fix it but it’s been months and now no answer.

The rear lower control arm failed and broke in half, causing springs, shocks, struts, pins, knuckles, bolts to fracture/break or collapse. The tire bowed inward at the top and made loud knocking and rattling noises for six months. I took to three different Nissan dealers, and all told me nothing was wrong. 1/6/22 I was driving on I-90S in Chicago, IL, and when the rear driver control arm failed and craked, utterly separating. The electronic stability control, lade departure, and blindspot warning system all deactivated and gave me malfunction code on the display screen in my dash. The steering wheel loosened and turned 30-40 degrees left, causing the vehicle to spin. I was able to take back control of the car after almost being hit and killed, getting to the shoulder hitting the concrete guard rails. Nissan parts director inspected my vehicle and determined that my vehicle indeed met the failure criteria based on what occurred and the damage. Nissan N.A. denies any fault despite approving to pay and replace some but not all parts and damage caused by their defective parts. It is currently under repair order warranty approved by Nissan N.A. and being investigated because the vehicle has frame damage as result now also but continues to deny any fault.

When driving my rear control arm, on my nissan altima 2014 rusted and corroded so much that it broke in the back. When taking it to pep boys, they had said the left side was only a matter of time as well before that too suffered a similar fate. I live in Michigan which constantly uses salt to help the roads during winter. I have received an invoice of 2700 for repairs and after some googling I saw that Nissan had a major issue with this, that's great, however I was never notified via mail, emial, phone, nothing. I had no way of knowing this was going to, or happen, until after the fact.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, a grinding sound was present coming from the rear of the vehicle. While driving over a bump in the road, the rear of the vehicle collapsed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the rear suspension had detached, and the front and rear axles were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. My 2014 Nissan Altima’s transmission has to be replaced. The Nissan dealership gave me a quote of $4,093.00 to replace it. The car starts to run fine, then when at a stop and go, the car doesn’t go when I step on the gas or is delayed in going and the RPM’s are high and it feels forced. I was on the freeway and the car lost speed which was very scary because I could’ve have caused an accident. My safety and that of others was put at risk. I’ve had to stop using the vehicle until I can repair this costly issue. There were not any lights or warning messages in the car when this happened. Now that I’ve done research I know that there are many complaints and lawsuits related to the transmission issues Nissan has had for many years and they’ve done nothing about it. They should take responsibility and issue a recall on these vehicles to correct the issue.

While driving my car the component snapped/popped and caused me to lose control of my car and crashing into a curb in front of a pole. No warning lights came on prior to this happening. I have reached out to the manufacturer with no satisfactorily acceptable resolution. Currently I am in the hospital. The police was on the scene and the vehicle was towed to my residence due to being inoperable. I am physically, mentally and emotionally affected by this matter. Consumer stated she noticed a campaign but not a recall and her VIN was not included.

I PURCHSED THIS CAR FEB 2ND 2019 COUPLE DAYS LATER ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SO CAR HAS 30DAY WARRANTY SO I CALL AND THEY HAD ME GO THERE MECHANIC PUT IN THE SHOP. A CODE FOR 02 SENSORS CAME UP BUT HE SAY HE JUST NEED REPLACE CADILLAC CONVERTER HE DIDNT NEED REPLACE SENSORS SO 5 DAYS LATER I PICK UP CAR AND 3 DAYS AFTER LIGHT COMES BACK ON I CALL COMPLAIN ON WAY COMING FROM ANOTHER CITY HOUR AWAY AND NOTICING CAR JERKING AND LOOSING POWER ON HWY ON WAY MECHANIC CAR BREAKS DOWN IM STRANDED WITH BABY FOR HOUR THEY TOW THEY SHOP SAY IT WAS FUEL.PUMPS I GET CAR THINKING THINGS GOOD I MAKE A 300 PAYMEMT SINCE I STILL OWED 1500 ON DOWN PAYMENT DAYS LATER LIGHT COMESON AGAIN SMOKE COMES OUT BACK CAR WHEN I START. ON THE WAY TO GET A CUP OF COFFEE (LESS THAN ONE MILE FROM MY HOME) A CAR STARTED COMING INTO MY LANE. I SWERVED SLIGHTLY TO AVOID A COLLISION AND MY CAR WENT INTO THE DITCH AND HIT A TELEPHONE POLE. OVER $22,000 IN DAMAGE. RADIATOR BENT INTO AN "L" SHAPE. SIDE FRAMES AND ENGINE WENT INTO THE FIREWALL, WHICH TOTALED THE CAR COMPLETELY. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH NISSAN CORP. AIR BAG SAFETY ENGINEER, DEALERSHIP OWNER, GENERAL MANAGER, SALES MANAGER AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS $22,000 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. OFFICER SAID DRIVER AIRBAG AND SIDE CURTAIN AND IN SEAT AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE ALSO DEPLOYED. THEY DIDN'T AND I WAS ALMOST KILLED. THE CAR WAS ONLY 2 MONTHS OLD, NO MODIFICATIONS, AND VERY LOW MILES. TWO COMPLAINTS: ONE: THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY AND RANDOMLY COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THE PLUG UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS LOOSE. THEY "FIXED IT". THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND IS CURRENTLY DOING IT AGAIN, BUT IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE OF MILEAGE AND THEY ARE GOING TO CHARGE ME TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN, YET HAS REOCCURRED REGULARLY SINCE NEW. TWO: WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NEAR A COMPLETE STOP, THE PEDAL BECOMES "SOFT" FOR ABOUT A HALF SECOND, THE CAR STOPS DECELERATING FOR THAT HALF SECOND THEN CONTINUES TO STOP NORMALLY, THEREAFTER. EACH TIME I MENTION THIS AT A SERVICE INTERVAL AT THE DEALER, THEY SAY THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT. NOTHING IS NOTED ON MY INVOICE AND NOTHING IS MENTIONED WHEN THE CAR IS PICKED UP. IT IS UNSETTLING AND IT CAUSES THE CAR TO STOP SEVERAL FEET FURTHER THAN IF THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN.

"TAKATA RECALL" I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2018. SINCE THE PURCHASE, MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS HAVE MADE ME RUN COMPLETELY OFF OF THE ROAD ONCE AND ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SEVERELY DIM; ALMOST NON-EXISTENT LOW BEAMS. THEREFORE I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO DRIVE AT NIGHT USING ONLY MY HIGH BEAMS BECAUSE AS A SINGLE MOTHER OF 4, I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE OR REPAIR ENTIRE ASSEMBLE. I PURCHASED MY 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA WITH ONLY 6 MILES ON IT IN 2014. I ONLY DROVE MY CAR FROM SCHOOL TO HOME, AS THIS WAS MY WORK VEHICLE. I FINISHED PAYING FOR MY NISSAN IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. MY NISSAN RECENTLY REACHED 90,000 MILES AND BEGAN TO SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO JERK AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE IT WERE PLACED IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THEN AT TIMES WHEN PLACED IN DRIVE THE ENGINE WOULD SHAKE AND ROAR LOUDLY, AND SHUT OFF. MY DAD HAD TO COME AND TOW THE CAR IN TWICE DUE TO IT NOT SHUTTING DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE AND IN TRAFFIC. THE NISSAN WOULD JUST STOP ACCELERATING AND LOSE POWER. WHILE DRIVING ON A STATE ROUTE I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY FELT THE STEERING WHEEL SHIFT FROM EVEN TO THE LEFT ABOUT 45 DEGREES WITH A THUMPING SOUND . ALSO THE STABILITY LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED TO STEER THE CAR PROPERLY BUT ENCOUNTERED A PULLING TO THE LEFT. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD INTO A LOT AND DISCOVERED THE REAR LEFT WHEEL AND SIDE (DRIVER SIDE} WAS LOWER THAN THE RIGHT AND THE WHEEL WAS TILTED INWARD. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE CONNECTION TO THE SUSPENSION WAS COMPROMISED. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED ON FLATBED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. HE IS LOCATED NEAR THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP SO WE HOPE TO GET IT RESOLVED WITH HIS SELP. MY RESEARCH ON YOUR SITE INDICATED THAT SEVERAL (1000'S) OF 2013 VEHICLES EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT MANY 2014 MODELS. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS NOT JUST FOR THE 2013 MODELS AND THE 2014'S AGE IS ABOUT AT THE SAME TIME WHEN THE 2013'S HAVE FAILED. (6 YEARS OLD). I AM HOPING THAT NISSAN FOLLOWS SUIT WITH THE 2014 MODELS LIKE CANADA DID LAST YEAR.

FIRST, THE CVT BLEW ON A 70MPH HIGHWAY. GOT THAT FIXED, NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND MENTOR NISSAN HELPED. NNA PAID 70% OF A TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE ALSO REIMBURSING ME FOR TOWING. THEN, I HAVE VIDEO PROOF, THAT AFTER THE RECALL, THE OCS LIGHT IS ON WHILE I HAVE PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. LASTLY, REAR SUSPENSION ARM RUSTING OUT (PHOTO PROOF). THIS CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE! Components that failed: -2019 & 2023 Entire headlight assembly 2x - with continuous wiring in headlight that must be adjusted before every drive. -2021 Internal lighting to illuminate the gear shift, which no longer works. -2021 Heater constantly squeals like a pig and blows every fuse, once the several fuse boxes were located. -2017 Engine revs up to 3k-4k rpm's while driving a steady 40 mph. Car went to shop after purchase for this, which is now starting again 6 yrs later. -2022 Window tint is impossible to see through and crispy to the touch. -2017 Engine sputters and car shakes signaling that the 3k miles are almost up and it's time for an oil change. -Years ago- There was a recall for passenger airbags, which hasn't been fixed, but also isn't showing up here. -Mechanics, State Inspections etc have been done as normal.

It smells like gas when I start the car. It's also wasting alot of gas. I have to put gas every couple of days. I spend more money putting gas. The steering and suspension and the tires keep giving me problems to where the brakes locked up on their own and now it drives really bad especially on the freeway. The steering wheel moves alot when I'm on the freeway sometimes feel like I'm loosing control of the car. The gas pedal gets stuck and the gear shift gets stuck in park. I have to use a nail filer the metal ones and push and hold the shift lock for it to move into gear. The car keeps saying Key not Detected even tho it's in the car with me. I just got the car from a small dealership in pomona in April of 2023

The air bag light came on, on November 2021, and stays on all the time. When I took the car to the dealer to check what was wrong with it I was told the airbag might not deploy in case of impact. The car is less than 8 years old, but I was told it was not under warranty and there was no recall for that. I was told they had to replace two parts: 98820-9HN9ASensor-Side AIRBAG Center and 87650-9HP3ABack Assembly Front Seat, for a total cost of approximately $2400, but the parts were not available. The money was refunded to me three months later and the parts have not been replaced. I do not feel safe driving the car around; unfortunately it is the only car I have. The car is available for inspection upon request.

Many people complain about the sunroof leaking and the compressor. This will be the second time having issues with compressor. It effects my defrost which can be a serious safety hazard. Water accumulates in the floor boards and the headliner which causes mold and mildew which leads to respiratory issues. I paid 1200 to replace the compressor one year ago and not I am having the same issues. I see many people talk about this issue online. Standing water on the floor boards and air does not cool.

On 5/17/21 I had just left Walmart in Abington on my way to pickup my glasses. After picking up my glasses i felt wobble in the driver's side rear tire. I pulled over on Pine St. and checked the lug nuts on each wheel. Everything seemed okay. I then noticed a traction sign on the dashboard. I put on my hazard lights and drove home approximately a mile or two. When I got home I backed the car up and when I got out I notices the rear wheel drivers side bending inward at the top. I had Westgate Towing tow it after approved by AAA to Bourne's Auto for repair where i had bought the car and purchased a repair/warranty contract. Nothing was covered. No rental for a week. Paid almost $911.47 for the repair. Worried it could happen on other side. Diagnosis: Left Rear Lower Control Arm & Lateral Arm and Alignment needed.

I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH ONLY APPROX. 7-10 MILES ON IT IN JAN. 2014. SINCE THE BEGINNING, I HAVE HAD MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD SHUT OFF W/O WARNING. NAVIGATION, RADIO, CAMERA, ETC. COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF, AIR BAGS LIGHTS TURNING OFF AND ON, THE AIR CONDITIONER INTERMITTINGLY WORKING WHENEVER IT CHOOSES, THE CIGARETTE LIGHTERS (BOTH) THAT I USE TO CHARGE MY PHONE NO LONGER WORKS, AND ACCELERATION NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY (TRANSMISSION ISSUE?). I HAVE NOT EVER HAD SO MANY CAR PROBLEMS, ESPECIALLY WITH A NEW CAR. WHEN I ASK THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT RECALLS, THEY ARE ONLY CONCERNED WITH REPAIR COSTS THEY WANT TO COLLECT, IN WHICH I UNDERSTAND. HOWEVER, WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IS LOOKING UP THE ISSUE ONLINE AND SEEING HUNDREDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS. JUST WITH THE SAME AIR CONDITIONER ISSUE ALONE, ON ONLY ONE SITE, THERE WERE ALMOST 600 CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. I WAS ASTOUNDED. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE ARE NOT MORE RECALLS WITH WHAT I HAVE READ. BESIDES SERIOUS BODILY INJURIES OR DEATH, DO NISSAN OWNERS NEED TO GET THE MEDIA INVOLVED TO GET SOMETHING DONE. ON JULY 29, 2015- MORNING- CAR UPON START, NO SCREEN AND NO DASHBOARD. RESTARTED TWICE AND THEN FINE. AT 9:30 P.M. SAME DAY-- CLOSE TO HOME, SIDE MIRROR FAILURE WARNING SHOWED ON DASH- AND A SUBSEQUENT FAILURE OF SYSTEMS- INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO- GPS, SCREEN, TURN SIGNALS, HEADLIGHTS,HAZARD LIGHTS, ALL DASH INFORMATION. COCHRAN CONSIDERS THE SITUATION RESOLVED. NISSAN HAS A CASE # AND SEVERAL RECORDED (BY NISSAN) CONVERSATIONS HAVE OCCURRED WITH REGIONAL REP. AND THAT REP. I BOUGHT THE CAR LAST YEAR AND IT HAS ONLY BEEN ABOUT 13 MONTHS. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A KIND OF JERK WHEN I WOULD START OFF A STOP LIGHT AND ACCELERATE. FIRST THINKING IT WAS NOT A GREAT DEAL, I KEPT GOING HOWEVER I NOTICED IT THAT IT WAS BECOMING MORE CONSTANT. ONE DAY ABOUT TO REVERSE OUT OF A PARKING LOT, I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT STARTED WORKING FINE. BEING LATE FOR WORK, I THEN CONTINUED ON AND UNTIL YESTERDAY EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. YESTERDAY, I GOT INTO MY CAR, STARTED IT, SWITCHED TO DRIVE, AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, TURNED IT ON AGAIN, MOVED THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE HAD IT TOWED AND IT IS BEING CHECKED AT THE DEALERSHIP. BLIND SIDE ZONE DETECTION ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTION DURING TIMES OF RAINY WEATHER. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN ( CASE # [XXX] BEING HANDLED BY [XXX]). BOTH DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN HAVE SAID THAT THIS ISSUE CAN NOT BE REPAIRED. AT ISSUE IS THAT DURING RAINY WEATHER THE BLIND SPOT WARNING LIGHTS COME ON WITH NO VEHICLES IN THIS SPOT. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER TO SWERVE THE CAR TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A PHANTOM VEHICLE. THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT IN FLORIDA ON I-10 THIS PAST MONTH. BOTH DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN STATED TO ME THAT IN THE OWNERS MANUAL IT STATES THAT THIS SAFETY OPTION MAY MALFUNCTION DURING RAINY WEATHER. SO NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE CAR IS SOLD, IT IS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL, BUT REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. 1. WHY DOES NISSAN "TOUT" THIS SAFETY FEATURE WHEN THEY KNOWINGLY KNOW THAT IT MAY MALFUNCTION WHEN THE DRIVER NEEDS IT THE MOST? 2. ALTHOUGH IT IS STATED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, THE OWNERS MANUAL IS NOT GIVEN TO THE CUSTOMER NOR MADE AVAILABLE TO READ BEFORE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. HOW IS THE OWNER TO KNOW THAT THE SAFETY OPTION THEY ARE PURCHASING MAY MALFUNCTION DURING THE TIME THEY NEED TO USE IT THE MOST? 3. WHILE DRIVING IN MY TOWN HOME COMMUNITY AND SLIGHTLY TURNING RIGHT WHILE GOING UP A SLIGHTLY INCLINED ROAD THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND IT SEEMS THE TRANSMISSION IS LOCKING UP. GOES AWAY EITHER BY REMOVING ALL PRESSURE ON ACCELERATOR OR IF EXCESSIVE ACCELERATOR PRESSURE IS APPLIED. THE TYPE OF ACCELERATOR PRESSURE NEEDED TO STOP THE EXCESSIVE SHAKING WOULD BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SPEED THAT IS UNSAFE RELATIVE TO OBSERVED SPEEDS LIMITS IN COMMUNITY. EXAMPLE 2. THESE EXHIBITED SYMPTOMS HAVE ALSO OCCURRED WITH AN INCREASING FREQUENCY WHILE DRIVING ON CITY ROADS IN LIGHT TO MODERATE TRAFFIC: WHEN YOU ARE COASTING UP TO SLOWER MOVING TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF YOU AND THEN NEED TO ACCELERATE AS THAT TRAFFIC INCREASES SPEED, THE CAR WILL SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THIS OCCURS MOSTLY AT SPEEDS UNDER 30 -35 MPH BUT HAS BEEN FELT AT SPEEDS AS HIGH AS 55 MPH. IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE ENTIRE DRIVE TRAIN OF THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE CAR. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 1200 MILES ON ODOMETER AND SYMPTOMS HAVE BEEN INCREASINGLY NOTICEABLE AND FREQUENT SINCE 605 MILES ON ODOMETER. SEPARATE ISSUE: NAVIGATION / AUDIO SYSTEM HAS FROZEN SCREEN UPON START UP AND BECOMES UN RESPONSIVE. NO ABILITY TO CHANGE PREVIOUS VOLUME LEVEL OF RADIO WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT AT HIGH VOLUME LEVEL DURING PREVIOUS DRIVE. INPUT IS NOT ACCEPTED ON HEAD UNIT OR STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION PREPARING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. WHEN THERE WAS AN OPENING IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TO PROCEED FORWARD AND AS I ENTERED THE INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROPPED THE RPM'S AND ACTED AS IF IN "LIMP MODE". I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR TO TRY TO GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND AND ONLY "CRAWLED" THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION DUE TO THIS ISSUE ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES AND ALMOST HIT ME. I THEN TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITED A COUPLE MINUTES AND WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE THE OTHER VDC LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE VEHICLE THEN DROVE NORMAL. I HAVE SINCE NOTICED A SOUND LIKE THE TRANSMISSION SPINNING WHENI PRESS THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SO I WENT HOME. 2014 NISSAN ALTIMA SL 2.5 MAKES ALLOT OF NOISE AND VIBRATION WHEN YOU ACCELERATE TO GET UP TO A HIGHWAY SPEED WHETHER IT IS FROM THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION IT IS VERY LOUD INSIDE THE CAR! THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO HAVE A LOT OF PLAY IN IT AT A DEAD STOP WITH ENGINE RUNNING BY TURNING THE WHEEL RIGHT TO LEFT! YOU ALSO HEAR CLUNKING NOISES TURNING IT RIGHT TO LEFT! THE FUEL IN THE TANK MAKES LOUD SWISHING NOISES SORT AS IF I HAVE A SMALL OCEAN IN MY FUEL TANK!
