While i was driving the transmission felt as if it was slipping and didn't want to switch gears. When i stopped at a red light it didn't want to kick into drive it took like 3 -4 minutes to kick in no warning lights came on it just started messing up when I took it to get it looked at the code p17f0 came up. Im still paying a 429 car note on this vehicle and can not drive it plus the Carmax Care coverage i had on the car, is unusable!! So now im stuck with a broken car that im still paying on.

The transmission started slipping at 70,000 miles on the Altima, even after getting a preventative transmission service at 30,000 miles. A mechanic revealed a judder code, which means the transmission will stop working within weeks. A repair would cost more than the car is worth. My wife could have been stranded in traffic. This is unacceptable. No warning lights appeared on the dash.

-Nissan made their Altimas and other vehicles using a CVT transmission that was of poor design and quality. -Nissan has admitted to this in several class action lawsuits, [XXX] ) and has extended their powertrain warranty and time period as a result. -The extended powertrain warranty is to cover up until 84k miles, the mileage on the Nissan Altima in question is just over 82k, well under the mileage limit. -Nissan corporate has denied repairs for this particular Nissan Altima under both their financial assistance and goodwill programs, despite having done so for many other Altima, Murano, Maxima, etc... owners. -Nissan is denying assistance based on two points: First, they claim that the time has expired. My claim is that transmissions fail due to poor engineering and quality, as well as wear and tear - NOT due to an arbitrary point of time when the clock hand strikes 12 midnight. In other words, transmissions due not wear out based upon an arbitrary time schedule. Secondly, Nissan is denying assistance and suggested that the warranty is void due to a lack of dealer maintenance, in violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which protects consumers' rights to choose where they have their car serviced without voiding the warranty. My 96 year old mom purchased 2016 Alltima 8 years ago. It now has 59,000 0riginal miles on it and the CVT transmission is failing we were told at the nissan service center where the car was purchased. Nissan has refused to help pay for any repairs. So 96 year old woman living on fixed income has to pay. Go back to Japan NISSAN

Air bag indicator light turns on indicating a failure of the airbag system. I understand this disables this safety system putting all passengers at risk. The dealer advised the issue is caused by the driver seat side airbag wiring failure. From reading other users, this appears to be a common issue due to severe bends of the wiring from the connector to the airbag. To me this is a design failure which normally does not occur. The cost is ~3000 USD to replace the seat back.

The air bag sensor light is on continuously. According to the manual it indicates there is something wrong with our airbag. After reading several comments from individuals this seems to be a problem with many.

Air bag sensor light comes on; took to Nissan Glen Burnie MD dealership and believed they rectified the issue (removing debris) and did a reset. Light came back on and took it to Nissan Bowie MD and they could not determine the cause and did a reset. Light came back on and took it to Nissan Bowie MD and B0020-13 code was returned resulting in having to replace seat and sensor (no issue with wiring found). Contacted Nissan after seeing many other complaints for same issue with Altima sensor. No help from Nissan since they don't have it listed for a recall. This represents a major safety issue as my understanding is the air bag is not active when the light is on.

Accident Description: On August 2024, a 2016 Nissan Altima SL was being driven at a low speed through a residential neighborhood under clear and dry conditions. The ambient temperature was between 85 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Without any prior warning or external impact, the vehicle's airbag system suddenly and unexpectedly deployed. Both the driver and front seat passenger, who were wearing seat belts. Additionally, the vehicle's door locks appeared to malfunction, impeding the passenger's exit. The vehicle has approximately 76,000 miles and is not currently under recall. Component or System Failure: The airbag system, including the airbag modules and potentially the door lock mechanism, malfunctioned. The vehicle is currently undergoing inspection by the insurance company and will be made available for inspection by NHTSA upon request. Safety Risk: The unexpected deployment of the airbags while the vehicle was at a low speed posed a significant safety risk to the occupants. The injuries sustained, including neck, shoulder, and back pain, demonstrate the potential for serious harm. Furthermore, the malfunctioning door locks hindered passenger egress and could have exacerbated the situation in a more severe accident such as if this would have happened on an expressway or highway at a high rate of speed with other vehicles involved, this would have been a deadly accident. Reproduction or Confirmation: The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center yet. Inspections: The vehicle is currently scheduled to undergoing inspection by the insurance company. No inspections by the manufacturer, police, or other parties have been conducted yet. Warning Signs: No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms indicating an issue with the airbag system was observed prior to the incident.

On April 15, 2025, I purchased a pre-owned 2016 Nissan Altima with just under 51,000 miles. Less than two months later, the vehicle’s transmission failed. A diagnostic revealed the issue is with the CVT transmission, a well-documented defect in many Nissan models. When I contacted Nissan to file a claim under what I thought would be warranty protection, I was denied because the extended warranty period had technically expired. However, I was not the vehicle owner during that warranty period, and the defect had not presented itself until now. I am now left to pay thousands of dollars to replace a part that Nissan has previously acknowledged as faulty. This is not simply a warranty issue—it’s a case of a known manufacturer defect causing harm to a consumer who acted in good faith. As a working-class family of six, we cannot absorb this kind of financial blow—especially when it is due to a failure Nissan has seen repeatedly in their CVT-equipped vehicles. I am requesting that the Attorney General’s office investigate this matter and advocate for Nissan to take responsibility by covering 100% of the repair costs. I honestly do not understand why this faulty transmission issue has not warranted a recall. The sudden and unexpected inability to continue acceleration is an extremely dangerous occurrence that can lead to a collision resulting in fatality or paralyzation.

the systems I-key message is coming on because the hood latch. the recall only bent or greased the latch and didn't replace it. dealer wont take the problem.

Nissan has had quite a few recalls on their hood latch. The most recent one was in 2022. My car was checked in 2022, but now two years later I’m having another issue with the hood latch. While Nissan does not want to open a recall to not lose money, there is definitely another recall issue. At the moment there are 149 hood latches on back order and no one is able to get one. There was more than one customer in Nissan complaining of a hood latch issue. I went back-and-forth with Nissan for weeks , and they just kept telling me that they cannot help me. I would have to pay out-of-pocket. if there are absolutely no hood latches available to anyone anywhere is there not an issue on the hood latch?

The car stalls/shuts down while driving and while idle. I’ve had the alternative replaced 3 times within 2 years. After about 8-10 after having the alternative replaced it starts to stall/shut down again. There is definitely an error with the alternator system in these cars. Avd a recall needs to be assessed.

Nissan issued a notification of a safety issue with dimming headlights caused my a manufacturing issue. It's not a recall, however an extension was provided to address the concern. The problem is the letter is not clear when that extension starts, it indicates it's began January 2022 and is covered for an additional 3 years, however per Nissan the start date was the end of the manufactures warranty. I have a vehicle driven by my son that has dim headlights. This is a safety defect, created by the manufactures flaw, and should be covered by Nissan. Both headlights would need to be replaced and they should be held accountable for their safety issue.

The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who replaced the headlights; however, the failure persisted. The contact learned of a Class Action Lawsuit regarding the poorly illuminating headlamps. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the lawsuit was no longer active, and the remedy would not be provided. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I am concerned about the safety of my headlights. I haven't had my car long but noticed how dim the headlights were in comparison to my other car. I frequently would drive my old car with the fog lights illuminated due to wildlife concerns. My Nissan, though ten years newer, has lighting that is way worse. Sure enough, an animal ran out across my part that I could barely see. I looked into replacement bulbs when I stumbled across a class-action lawsuit regarding dim headlights. However, since I recently bought this car used, I apparently have no recourse. This is most definitely a safety issue. Furthermore, if the issue is due to the projector lens, then the repair should be made at Nissan's expense. Additionally, several people say that changing the bulbs do not help. I haven't had my car looked at by anyone because they just want to change the bulbs. How do you fix headlights when charging the bulb isn't the fix? How am I going to be able to see at nighttime? There needs to be a recall for these lights. It is a safety issue. It cannot be fixed by a consumer by changing the bulbs.

Car just randomly “ gave “ out . I couldn’t accelerate in the middle of intestate traffic !! The engine and the transmission blew at the same time. No warning , no check engine light ! Up to date on oil changes and other maintenance. Car only has 150k miles on it , no way this both happens at the same time. Complete limp mode. Danger to myself and most importantly my kids. How the engine and transmission just fails. Now I’m liable to pay 9,000, no warning no nothing. Complete failure . This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of this year make and model having transmission and engine issues. How terrible!

Vehicle will delay acceleration when I have stopped at a stop sign or stop light especially if I was stopped on a hill. When I press the gas pedal it will delay acceleration for a couple of seconds and then finally take off. It was happening every so often but now it is happening more often. If I turn the car off and start it again, it goes away for a little while but comes back. The check engine light doesn't come on when this happens.

I’m starting to experience issues with the CTV transmission. I’m experiencing jerking and stalling while driving on a busy highway with cars traveling 55mph or more. It is extremely dangerous driving when these things occur when cars are traveling at those speeds and the vehicle hesitate without warning.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. Vehicle starts fine once the entire engine heats up is when problems start the loss of engine power until engine is able to restart resetting errors this would gradually get worse and the finaly the engine completely stalls out at one moment the computer says it’s the evap then is says cam sensor then the O2 sensor then is said it was the throttle body then at one point it said fuel pump and even told me it was the two upp sensors while trying to start it should start but idling. Vary ruff and severe engine, shaking while idling. Then it refuses to start I need this vehicle investigation for this car and have it applied to this vehicle as well as the symptoms are identical!!!

After some driving specially in hot temperature or after long distances, the engine becomes nonresponsive. Particularly when it comes to a complete stop, there is a delay between pushing the gas pedal and when the car starts to move. The delay can be as long as few seconds. This problem does not happen all the time but happens quite often in hot weather and long driving. It is very dangerous. In one occasion I was trying to make a left turn against the coming traffic, I had to make a short break for a pedestrian and then my car did not move and a fast coming traffic almost hit my car as I could not move fast enough due to the transmission delay. I took it to Nissan dealership last year. They did some minor work and it was fixed for a while but the issue is back again. I took it to Nissan dealership for repair last month but they could not reproduce the error code by just driving around for few minutes. They refused to fix it. I complained to Nissan and have talked to few representative about the safety issue I have with this car. They refused to take it seriously and they tell me that unless the dealership can produce the error code they can not fix it. This car is putting the safety of my family and myself in risk and Nissan does not care. Please let me know what I should do. THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY FOR THE RECALL OF THE SECONDARY LATCH FOR THE HOOD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE HOOD HAS BECOME UNLATCHED. THIS IS UNSAFE AND A DRIVING HAZARD. A REMEDY NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP OR SOMEONE MAY GET HURT. I THINK IT'S IRRESPONSIBLE THAT NISSAN HAS NOT COMPLETED THIS REMEDY.

MY CAR BATTERY WAS LOSE AND I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC. I WENT AND POPPED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY WAS LOSE AND I MOVED IT IN PLACE AND THE CAR TURNED ON. UPON ME BEING IN A RUSH TO GET TRAFFIC GOING AGAIN THE HOOD LATCH DIDN'T WORK, AND WHEN. I WENT ON THE HIGHWAY THE HOOD WENT UP TO MY WINDSHIELD AND DAMAGED MY HOOD, CORNER PANELS, SMASHED MY FRONT WINDSHIELD, AND I HAVEN'T FIXED THE HOOD BECAUSE IT'S VERY EXPENSIVE. THE LATCH LOCK CABLE MAY NOT HVE BEEN ROUTED PROPERLY IN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR , WHENEVER LOWERING THE WINDOW THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR TO UNLATCH AND INADVERTENTLY OPEN WHEN THE WINDOW IS LOWERED OR NOT. MOST OF THE TIMES YOU NEED TO CLOSE TWO OR THREE TIMES TO PROPERLY LOCK.

If I'm in city traffic with lots of traffic and a red light for a while or in a drive thru, my car takes longer to accelerate after coming to a complete stop. I'll push the gas pedal in to go and it takes a few seconds to get moving up to normal acceleration speed. The first few seconds of pushing the gas pedal my car barely moves, similar to idling forward without gas, even if I floor it, but once it gets going it drives normally. It works well driving long distance and only happens on stop and go trafffic and at a drive thru. I have a 2016 Nissan Altima SV 2.5.

From the Last 1 months, I can see sometimes when I accelerate my car it's not accelerating properly but the RPM is increasing, and sometimes after I stop in traffic when I accelerate my car it's not accelerating immediately and when I press the gas paddle hard suddenly it accelerates. It's a safety concern for me.

I only had my vehicle(2016NissanAltima) for less than 2 weeks before the vehicles major problems started. The engine consistently Stalls, Surges and Shudders. As well as the Shifter locking itself to where it wont shift out of park. There are no and have never been any warning lights to alert me. The CVT and the Computer are very faulty. To the point the vehicle is now a Death Trap. When driving the car the RPM will randomly accelerate and I have no way to control the vehicle and then vehicle will go into "Limp Mode" consistently and won't go any faster or slower than the speed the car chooses to do. I don't trust anything of what it says on the dashboard as far as Gas amount, Odometer, MILWarnings, Speed or otherwise. If there are no warnings from the car to alert me with, then that is a major issue with the car and is not mechanically sound and very dangerous for me and other drivers on the road. I have had to make the car sit the majority of the short time I have had it. Because I simply won't drive very far because of the dangers it puts me in everytime I have drove it. I have had to spend my money on transportation to and from work instead of making my first car payment. At this point I want to just Opt-out with the vehicle entirely and give it back to the dealership. This car is just unsafe and should not have been sold in the condition it is in. I only got to drive the vehicle 10 days or so before major issues started with the vehicle. I have not a clue what the details of what is wrong with the car. The only warning signal I do see now, is the MIL and that is not even mentioned in the option menu of the car settings etc. This car needs to be re-manufactured so that it can become a safe running vehicle. I don't have the money that it will take to fix the car. It's far too expensive for me or any hard working citizen to ever afford. I don't advise anyone to own a vehicle of this kind.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 43,000, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 68,000.

I have had this vehicle since December 28, 2017, and during that time, the battery has been replaced nearly five times at the dealership. The reason they provided is that the battery now lasts less than two years. I have repeatedly asked them to investigate whether there might be an issue with the electrical components, but they have refused to do so, even while my vehicle was still under warranty.

It's 1 of 3 sensors possible cam shaft position sensors is what the dealership is saying, the car is currently at the dealership being dignoised this is the 3 time its been in the shop. 1st time had fuel pump replaced, than 2nd time for The car would start than stall than start again and when driving it stalled again driving. No warning lights until after car had died. No check engine lights prior either. This is the 2nd time these sensors have gone out in less than 2yrs. I just had them replaced. And the car only has 66,689 miles on it.

Car enters lymph mode, transmission failure car fails to move. Incident occurs randomly while driving on the highway placing driver and passengers at risk of being hit from behind. Nissan transmissions are notorious for transmission failures. This is the second Nissan Altima I have owned with the same transmission problem Vehicle only has approximately 60,000 miles and already failing. No warning lights came on nor other indications of malfunction. Transmission has been serviced by Nissan oil and filter have been changed. Transmission is warranted for 100,000 miles or seven years. The vehicle is a 2016 and has just passed the warranty. Previous Altima transmission was warranted for 100,000 miles regardless of the number of years. Car was stopped at a stop sign. When it was clear I attempted to proceed and turn left. The car began to roll then wouldn't accelerate causing me to block both lanes with oncoming vehicles. The rpms revved and the car wouldn’t move. Finally, the car started to go forward and without me pressing the gas it accelerated. I reported the situation to the Nissan Dealer and the Nissan Consumer repair. The mechanic at Nissan said the code is the transmission "death code." The simply said the car has over 84,000 miles so they would not be responsible for the repair. When I told them the situation, they did not discuss safety issues. I asked the man at Nissan Consumer Affairs if the life expectancy of a 2016 Nissan transmission was 108,000 miles. He said Nissan was not responsible for vehicle safety after 84,000 miles. He gave me a case number and and hung up. I then received an email with the case number and a note that said to give the number to my attorney. I do not have an attorney.

While trying to pull out of a intersection, car will not move or will move very slowly. I have almost been t-boned twice with my family in the car. This happens intermittently, 4 times in the past year. After car is turned off and restarted the issue seems to go away until the next time. The needs to be a safety recall before someone gets seriously hurt.

I have had this 2016 Nissan Altima SR for the past 5 years (1st owner) and it just began giving me acceleration issues about 2 months ago. At random times, while at a stop, reversing, doing a u-turn or changing gears, I step on the accelerator and it will not move. I have pushed all the way down on the accelerator and it won't budge for about 10 seconds, until then, it will just throw itself at a really high speed. There is no warning or light on the dashboard stating something is wrong. It does it at random times. There have been numerous times were I have been put at risk of a car accident because of this issue. Once, I was at a green light waiting to make a left, and when I had a chance to turn before the oncoming cars, I went for it, only to have the accelerator not work and go REALLY slowly (as if it was on neutral). At that speed, I was midway and the oncoming car was honking at me as it was getting closer. I kept stepping on the accelerator and nothing would happen. Luckily, a few seconds later it threw itself to a really high speed and I was able to make it before the oncoming car hit me. I have taken it to the dealer, only to find out I would be charged $169 for a diagnostics test and even then they wouldn't guarantee anything because it doesn't have any kind of warning light on the dashboard. The dealer then stated it could possibly be the transmission or throttle body. How is it possible for me to waste so much money on something the dealer itself is so unsure of the results? How can they guarantee they can fix the issue without happening again and possibly getting into an accident? I have heard of other Altima owners who have been told it is the transmission and they change it, only to have the same problems all over again. This issue really needs to be looked at before it gets more serious and cause devastating accidents. Thankfully it has not done that to me on the fwy yet.

I was making a right turn into a McDonald's and heard engine rev and car accelerarated involuntarily and brakes not engaging to stop the car. Eventally the car hit curb and went down onto grassy slope area next to road with traffic all the time brakes not engaging to stop the car. Finally able to turn car away from roadf back onto the grassy slope and it finally stopped.

My problem: While i was leaving work returning to my apartment my car (2016 Nissan Altima S ~ 2.4L, 4 cylinder, 75k miles, Black) was operating fine nothing out of the ordinary. As I approached a stop sign and stop my car it was still acting normal. However, as i accelerated to take my turn i notice that my car wasn’t moving normal it didn’t accelerate pass 15 mph but the RPM was going up it went up to 5k RPM with no speed change it felt like i was on neutral. (No, I wasn’t in neutral) it was on D i even placed the car in Ds to see if the problem was only on drive but the same problem occurred on Ds. As soon as i noticed that the car wasn’t accelerating and after the person who was driving behind me got mad i moved my car to the break down lane. I powered cycled the car (turn it off and back on) and it was functioning correctly. My friend had the same problem occur to his car which is Answer to Question: 1)I don’t know which specific part is the problem. I do know this isn’t the first case the same problem occurred on a 2015 Nissan Altima S i have a 2016 Nissan Altima S. This happened to the other car a few months prior to the date of my incident which happened August 30, 2021 at approximately 5pm. Yes, it’s available for inspection upon request. 2)My safety was put at risk because I couldn’t accelerate properly to turn my car so I basically slowly cruised into traffic luckily i was able to steer to the side of the road. 3)No, it has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer. The problem is it happened suddenly with no warning of any problems. I only have 75k highway miles on the car with no lights, no accidents, only 5 years old and is in great shape. What makes it difficult to be reproduced is the fact that the problem randomly occurs and when the car goes through a power cycle the problem disappears and reoccurs randomly. 4)There were no warning lights and no problem prior to the car and it first occurred August 30, 2021 at approximately 5pm.

I am writing to formally request a recall for my 2016 Nissan Altima due to a known issue with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Recently, my vehicle has exhibited concerning symptoms, including an inability to exceed 20 mph while hitting 3 RPM, and significant hesitation when accelerating, followed by abrupt lunging. Notably, these issues occurred without any prior warning lamps or indicators until recently with the RPM issue. Despite taking my vehicle to Nissan for diagnostic scans, which cost approximately $600, no specific issues were identified. These problems have not been reproduced during dealer inspections or by law enforcement, yet they pose a significant safety risk to myself and others on the road. I would like to qualify for the free recall service to have this issue inspected and resolved by an authorized Nissan dealer. Please provide me with the necessary information to proceed with this request. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I have a 2016 Nissan Altima 2.5SR and have noticed every time I'm on the interstate and I have driven at least 70 miles of driving distance, the vehicle will all of sudden lose power and the accelerator will be all the way down and it won't go any faster. So, if the speed limit is 70mph and will automatically drop down to 60 and it has done this in front of an 18-wheeler one time scared me to death. Mind you no warning lights come on or anything it just loses power Nissan really needs to resolve this issue and fix it before someone gets seriously injured. Now Iam a disabled driver and I'm not trying hurt myself even further or loss of life.

THE TECH HAD TOLD ME IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I'VE HAD THEM LOG THAT INFO. NOW IT'S FUTURE AND THAT PROBLEM HAD ESCALATED TO WHERE IT STILL DOES THE SHAKING BUT ALOT WORSE. NOW IT DOESN'T WANT TO SHIFT OUT OF 2ND GEAR. AT THE TIME OF ME DRIVING THE VEHICLE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE VEHICLE HAD SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AN IT SEEMED AS IT CAME OUT OF GEAR AN DROPPED TO A LOWER GEAR ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT.

Delayed acceleration issue. I am stopped at a light or in traffic and I press on the gas to go and it does nothing at all. This is occurring at various intervals...it just happens. I have been stopped to cross intersection and when light turns green, the car does not go at all for several seconds, 6-10 seconds. No warning lights are on. I have read this is a known problem for Nissan and there is no recall or action taken on their part. How many people have to be hurt or potentially killed before action is taken. I have taken it to the dealer and they cannot reproduce problem because it does not happen all the time and their is not error or warning code.

The CVT transmission in my 2016 Nissan Altima causes my vehicle to experience sudden shaking or jerking and to occasionally stall after a traffic stop while driving. I have been in near accidents based on this CVT issue as there is no way to anticipate when my vehicle will experience the aforementioned problems. I have taken my vehicle to an independent service center where technicians confirmed that the issue lies with my transmission. My vehicle was also inspected by my municipal vehicle inspection service which also flagged the problem. I have tried to contact Nissan USA to assist in the resolution of this issue but it has not been helpful in resolving the issue as I am outside the arbitrarily-set extended warranty period due to the vehicle's mileage. The Nissan Altima CVT transmission is a public safety emergency that needs to be fixed and I hope Nissan USA adequately and equitably addresses this problem. As a consumer who has previously only owned and operated Nissan Altimas, I am saddened by the company's inability to fully help consumers who are endangered by its faulty transmission and who may be a danger to others on the road due to this known issue.

WHILE DRIVING TOWARDS THE END OF THE TRIP 250 MILES, WAS CRUISING ABOUT 15 MPH, CAR WAS NO LONGER RESPONDING TO ACCELERATION, ENGINE MAKING LOUD NOISE AS IF STRUGGLING AND RPM INCREASED ABOUT 5000, I DROVE LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT 2 MILES, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NEXT DAY CAR DROVE FINE. HAD TWO SIMILAR EPISODES IN THE FOLLOWING MONTHS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, CAR WITH SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN AND NOT RESPONDING TO ACCELERATION, RPM INCREASED 5-6K, THESE LASTED LESS THAN A MINUTE AND THEN DROVE NORMAL AGAIN.LAST WEEK HAD A MAJOR EPISODE, WHILE IN TRAFFIC AT 40 MILES AN HOUR, WAS NOT ACCELERATING AGAIN AND SPEED STUCK AT 40 MPH. AND RPMS INCREASED TO ABOUT 5 TO 6000, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE SOUND AS IF STRUGGLING. CAR IS NOW JERKING WHEN REVERSING, ONLY HAS 44,800 MILES. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THEY ARE SEVERAL VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE WITH SIMILAR MODEL ALTIMA EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS, MOST PEOPLE THINK IS THE CVT TRANSMISSION THAT IS FAULTY AND OVERHEATING.

The car hesitates accelerating. After coming to a complete stop, when the gas pedal is pressed, the car will not go. This happens after in town driving for about 20 min or so when it stops and goes, stops and goes. The gas pedal will be pressed and the rpms will be going up but the car just sits there until all of a sudden taking off. No warnings appear. I explained issues to service techs at Nissan and they were able to replicate it and attempted to repair but it is doing it again less than a month later. It has been very dangerous especially when trying to merge into oncoming traffic.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR MY WIFE TO DRIVE HER AND OUR THREE CHILDREN. SOMETHING WAS GOING ON MAKING THE CAR STALL WHEN PRESSING THE GAS AND SOMETIMES ACCELERATE. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the lower control arm was rusted and had fractured. As I was driving my rear left control arm broke due to corrosion. At the time, my traction control light came on as the car was sliding. I assumed the car was sliding due to the rain storm that was taking place. Once I parked my car, and later used it again prior to noticing the broken pair, the Traction control light turned off. I later discovered the issue when my car continued to slide on the dry road. A tow was needed and then it was discovered the rear left control arm was broken.

Car has 60,000 miles and the lower front bushings are cracked! They should not be cracked with such low miles for a 2016 car. Now Nissan is telling me to replace the bushing and the lower front control arms will be $2,100. Thats not right, when Nissan knows they have been having issues with the lower control arms and bushings.

I have a 2016 Nissan Altima S. The airbag light is on without accident. I went four times to the Nissan dealer to fix the problem. They just told me it was a past code (B0020-13), cleared it the first three times, and told me the problem was on the driver-side airbag. But after a few months, the airbag light was still on again. I was told the problem was on the passenger side the last time. Ask me to replace the airbag module and seat back; the parts cost $3110, and the labor is $2600. It is ridiculous... The airbag is the car safety system; the parts have never been used before, so it should be okay if there is no accident.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. UPON DRIVING A FEW TIMES, THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT APPEARS AND STAYS ON MY DASH ALONG WITH WHEN I HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE CAR, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT TURN OFF. IT IS NOW MARCH AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE CARFAX REPORT I RECEIVED WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, A MAINTENANCE CHECK WAS CONDUCTED BY THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER CLOSE TO ME IN JANUARY, IT ONLY SHOWS THE CURRENT RECALL OF A HOOD LATCH (20V315 - THAT APPARENTLY NO PART IS AVAILABLE FOR). I WAS ADVISED BY A SERVICE REPAIR REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE AIR BAG SENSORS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT ARE BROKEN AND WERE NOT REPAIRED DURING THAT MAINTENANCE CHECK. I QUESTIONED AS TO WHY WITH NO EXPLANATION GIVEN. I ADVISED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD FALL BACK UNDER THE RECALL FROM 2016 (16V244) WITH THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE STATING THAT IT DOESN'T!! THE DID A RECALL REPLACEMENT OF MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OCCUPANT SENSOR, SINCE THEN, AND BEFORE THE YEAR WAS OUT, THE PART HAS GONE BAD AGAIN. BROUGHT TO DEALER, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATES THAT BECAUSE I DIDN'T BRING IT IN BEFORE THE YEAR WARRANTIED DATE, THEY NEED TO CHARGE ME A $119 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I have a 2016 Nissan Altima 3.5 Sr I brought into the Nissan dealership multiple times since 2022 now in 2025 at 100,000 miles to transmission is not working it's dying at intersections and oil is pouring out of the engine I was told that there was a recall that expired in April of 2023 however I was never notified about the recall despite taking my car to the Nissan dealership prior to that date no one ever said that there was a problem with the CVT I've stored my car multiple years because I'm a veteran and I had to deploy so it wasn't driven as much and now that's crossed 100,000 miles it's on its last leg this isn't fair the 2019 models are getting recalled they should fix mine I've taken care of this car and now they're trying to deny me my mobility I'm a retiree I don't have that much money the last time I took it to the dealership they said I needed a new engine never once mentioning that there were previous recalls on this vehicle. I need help.

I believe The failure that i'm experiencing is with the vehicle's transmission. The car stalls or refuses to shift gears, has trouble accelerating, and when the car is trying to accelerating the car makes an unfamiliar noise which is quiet loud and noticeable and sometimes shake or full on just pushes forward randomly. I believe the safety for mine and others can be at risk at times because they would be times where the car will not accelerate, even when your foot is pushed all the way on the pedal and as a result the car begins to slow down. This is can be risk depending on where you're driving for an example if you're on the highway or a congested area going at a specified speed. From my understanding after doing research I have found out that several others have been experiencing this same problem, so to my understanding this is a common issue and I'm not sure why it was never addressed. I have taken the car to a mechanic where they said the problem is the CVT Transmission. The Check Engine Light is on. This vehicle has not been in an accident.

Vehicle will delay acceleration when I have stopped at a stop sign or stop light. When I press the gas pedal it will delay acceleration for a couple of seconds and then final take off. It doesn't happen often and I find that if I turn the engine off and wait a few minutes and start it again, it goes away for several days but does return.

When I am stopped at a light or in stop and go traffic my car will not accelerate when I put my foot on the gas pedal. I can push it all the way to the floor and my car will not move. It takes about 10 seconds or so then my car will jolt quickly and finally go. I have also had issues with the RPM's shooting up while I am driving at a low rate of speed. This has happened maybe 3 times and I have to pull over and turn my vehicle off then turn it back on and then it seems to drive normally. This issue started several months ago and at first it was just occasionally. Now it is more frequent and happens anytime I am driving. If I turn my car off then turn it back on it seems to correct the issue briefly. I have found myself while stopped in traffic just turning my car off then back on because I am in fear of it happening. This is dangerous as I am at risk of getting hit when I am making a turn at an intersection if my car will not move. I have looked online and it seems other people with Altimas the same year have also experienced similar problems. I have not had the vehicle inspected. There are no warning lights that have come on in the vehicle indicating there is a problem.

I just purchased this vehicle with 93,000 miles and good condition. A warning or indicator light never comes on but sporadically I will be driving around 40-50mph & if I let off of the gas something happens where no matter how hard or fast I press the accelerator the car looses power. I can press the accelerator all the way to the floor & still not speed up. The car will slowly decrease speed until about 30mph or either I have to take my foot off of the accelerator totally & press hard about 1/4 on the accelerator to regain power. It feels like the pressure behind the accelerator disappears when all of this happens. There is no dimming of lights or anything obvious. It happens when my Mom drives also. I have lost power trying to pass a car or turn with oncoming traffic ahead. It scares me.

Car loses power while driving on highways or roads and had nearly cost me my life on occasion where the vehicle cannot complete a turn from loss of power and I cannot proceed and obstruct oncoming vehicle paths. It has also revved up out of the blue to 6000-7000 RPMs despite a holding steady pace on the gas pedal. The speed jolts and has nearly caused me to rear end unsuspecting vehicles. Sometimes the vehicle cannot accelerate and has NO POWER after coming to a full stop at a red light or stop sign. I have been unable to receive help for any of these issues despite many diagnoses and lots of money spent. And it was not made aware to me, an owner of a Nissan Altima vehicle that there is a known probability of failure with CVTs in use in Altima’s of my hear. That lack of effort and total disregard for the lives of customers in similar Nissan vehicles is absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable! Furthermore, they try to deny it and try to take zero fault. Nissan is denying fault for faulty CVT in my vehicle and made NO ATTEMPT to notify owners of affected NISSAN vehicles and is NOT rectifying the issue or admitting their lack of effort on making owners of affected Nissan vehicles aware of issues and threatening consumer wellbeing

Car will either not start or heists to start code with check engine light is P0340 for camshaft position sensor I have already replaced this once before 2yrs ago it should not need to be replaced again so soon. I have read online where others with same make and model cars having similar issues and their cars stalled while driving mine hasn't as of yet, but could when I take to mechanic shop. This is a major safety problem. There has been a recall but not for my year model car and needs to be fixed for more cars are having similar issues and is a major concern. 2016 Nissan Altima SR has a delayed acceleration issue that nearly caused me to be broadsided while making a left turn. The issue has been ongoing for years and when taken into the dealership they claimed to not be able to reproduce the failure. This is because the issue is sporadic and unpredictable when it may occur. There are many forums I have found identifying a great deal of others experiencing the same failure. This needs to be corrected by Nissan.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING CHRONIC ISSUES WITH ENGINE ON MY 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA. INITIALLY (11/2016), THE CAR WOULD "JUMP/SKIP" WHEN I WOULD TRY TO ACCELERATOR AND EVEN FEELING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF ON ME. WHEN I CALLED I WAS INFORMED IT WAS DUE TO DEFECT AND IT WAS ON RECALL. THE ISSUES APPEARED TO RESOLVE UNTIL 11/2017 I STARTED EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE BUT WORSE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND BACK HOME. THIS OCCURRED ON FLORIDA TURNKPIKE AND LOCAL HIGHWAYS. CARS WERE HOOKING AT ME BECAUSE I WAS NOT ABLE TO PROCEED WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, EVEN THOUGH I WAS FLOORING THE CAR PEDAL. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP, I WAS INFORMED IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION AND THEY HAD TO REBUILD IT. AFTERWARDS, I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR CUTTING OFF ON ME AND ACCELERATION ISSUES. I BROUGHT IT BACK, AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CRANK SENSOR. THEY REPLACED IT BUT KNOW THE ENGINE CONTINUE TO SOUND LIKE IT IS WORKING OVERTIME TO PERFORM AND MAKE A CONSTANT HIGH PITCH SOUND. THE REAR VIEW CAMERA IS VERY BLURRY AND OUT OF FOCUS AT NIGHT ON THE 7 INCH DISPLAY. IT'S NOT TOTALLY CLEAR DURING DAY TIME EITHER. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME BAD QUALITY ON ALL ALTIMA'S I TRIED IT ON. ADJUSTING BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST, AND COLOR DOES NOT HELP. THE CAMERA SHOULD FUNCTION WELL FOR SAFETY. The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) and 18V915000 (Structure, Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact smelled an abnormal burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot, others also smelled the odor. The contact stated while driving approximately 65MPH, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to 45 MPH with other vehicles behind. No injuries or accident but this vehicle has two serious problems . 1. The head lights are almost non existent. you can not drive faster than 25 mph with out over driving you lighted area... I consider this a serious issue. .2. when car was new i almost always was getting in the low 30s and as high as 40 mpg now it is always getting in the low 20s consistently ... When i check this on you tube they say that is a warning that the CVT is not working properly . With only 48000 miles on the car , I ask if this is a problem that Nissan should correct ?

I was driving today 3/2/24 and speed was about 40-50 and suddenly/randomly the vehicle would do a jerk once it got to about 50 and the rpm’s would jump up between 2-3 and quickly drop back down to normal. I was not pressing the gas hard or a lot just lightly and also the jerking would happen if I was going down in speed from like 60-50 it would randomly jerk again and rpm’s would increase and go back down. Would do this off and on. No check engine lights or any lights what so ever we’re out up on the dash either which made it odd that my car was acting up. My vehicle only has 59,300 miles and has been serviced strictly at dealer for oil and transmission and I have been told that Nissan and their CVT transmissions are no good and transmissions can suddenly “die” on you for no apparent reasoning. Online searches let me to forums that discuss this being a common issue although Nissan has never done any form of recalls. This poses a safety concern in that the car is jerking and rpm’s go crazy for a moment. My vehicle also after being stopped at a traffic light today did not want to accelerate and “go” when I pressed the gas. I creeped up to 20 mph while rpm’s increased and then all of a sudden the car jerked and I was back in motion. I have owned my car since brand new and never have I had any issues.

After driving for a period of time (not too far, but more than just around the block) when I come to a stop at a stoplight or stop sign and try to accelerate again, there is a long delay of around 3-5 seconds and then my car will “launch”. I can push the pedal all the way to the floor and nothing happens. Then it will suddenly take off. This is a hazard while trying to turn out into traffic, if I would have to accelerate out of the way of a vehicle approaching me from any angle while at a stoplight or stop sign. Trying to cross intersections that only have 2 way stops, and for many other reasons that are pretty self explanatory. This sits very uneasy with me especially when my wife and child are riding with me. I brought this up to the dealer and they found no codes and could not recreate it, but did reprogram my ecm to most current programming per NTB13-054D. That cost $140 and did not fix my issue. It seems like to recreate the issue the car has to be driven for a little while (at lease 20-30 mins on the highway) before it begins acting up. It also seems like hot weather contributes to the issue as well.I drive an hour each way to work, so it pretty much acts up for me 2x a day since it has gotten warm out.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 NISSAN ALTIMA WHEN I REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME THAT WAS STATIONARY AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. I WAS TRAVELING APPROX 30MPH, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN BY GENTLY APPLYING MY BRAKES BUT MY NISSAN ALTIMA CAR DID NOT SLOW DOWN AT ALL. I THEN SLAMMED THE BRAKES DOWN FIRMLY, STILL NOTHING, THE ABS DID NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. I SWERVED TO MY RIGHT TO TRY AND AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME HEAD ON. I CAUGHT IT'S RIGHT HAND BACK FENDER, BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THE IMPACT OF HITTING THE MERCEDES STOPPED MY CAR- BOTH AIRBAGS INFLATED. MY 90LB, 18 YEAROLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I BROUGHT IT UP TO NISSAN ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WAS ON AND OFF WHEN MY SON SAT IN THE FRONT SEAT. ON THE FIRST OCCASION NISSAN JUST RESET THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR. IT DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE, THE SECOND COMPLAINT, NISSAN SAID IT WOULD ONLY GO OFF IF MY SON WEIGHED OVER 110LBS. IN THIS ACCIDENT THE AIR BAG DID GO OFF, CONSIDERING THIS CAR WAS GOING TO BE THE CAR HE DROVE- HE HAS HIS PERMIT RIGHT NOW, SO IF THE DRIVER WEIGHS LESS THAN 110LBS IT WOULD NOT DEPLOY. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. SECONDLY, I BELIEVE THE NISSAN ALTIMA BRAKES FAILED IN THE ACCIDENT. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER PICKED UP THE CAR ON ITS FLATBED, HE SAID THAT IT APPEARED THERE WAS SOMETHING FUNKY WITH THE FOOT BRAKE, IT WAS ROCK HARD WHEN COMPRESSED. THE ABS COMPLETELY FAILED, I NEVER FELT IT ENGAGE AFTER PUSHING FIRMLY HARD ON THE BRAKES. THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS ON THE ROAD. I NOTED THE ROAD WHERE THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED HAD TWO TYPES OF FLUID ON IT, ONE OILY ONE LIKE COOLANT. THE CAR WAS RECENTLY SERVICED, BY NISSAN VAN NUYS, THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR DROVE INCREDIBLY WELL FOR A WEEK, BUT THE LAST FEW DAYS I NOTED THE SLUGGISHNESS AGAIN RETURNED. MY TIRES AND BRAKES WHICH WERE ALL FINE. THEY DID REPLACE THE BRAKE FLUID.

I was driving on the freeway with my 6yr & 11yr daughters when my car stop accelerating and started to slow down I’ll hit the gas pedal and the RPMS will go up but the car wouldn’t advance ! I had to get off the freeway before the car completely stopped in the middle of the freeway as the velocity of the vehicle was getting slower and slower ! Take in mind I try to do this as safe as possible but my car was in the far end of the emergency lane I almost got rear ended my kids were crying scare ! I turn off the car once to the side of the freeway check the hood and nothing out of the ordinary. Turn the car back on and it was driving normal ! On the next day that’s when the check engine light turn on ! Took it to the dealer and they told me I need a complete new transmission!

On june 10,2021 i had to put my car in the shop bc the engine was running poorly. My car stalled on me at intersection and didnt want to pull. I was in panic thinking a car was going to hit me. Luckly i was able to get it to pull to the nearest vacant lot. I immediately stopped and let all moving traffic clear the way. LAST SUMMER I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE BUTTERFLY VALVE ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. IT WAS A SATURDAY, I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND THE ONLY PLACE THAT WAS OPEN AND THE CLOSEST WAS THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WILL CONTINUOUSLY SHAKE, SURGE, VIBRATE, AND FAIL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED WITH MY KIDS IN THE VEHICLE, IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I LOST COMPLETE POWER INCLUDING HEADLIGHTS, POWER STEERING, AND MOBILITY OF THE CAR. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED, THE ISSUE CONTINUES, HOWEVER I AM JUST OUTSIDE OF 60,100 MILES. YES 60K MILE WARRANTY AND KNOWN CVT ISSUES. MY REAR DOOR ALSO OPENS WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD IF THE WINDOW SWITCH IS TOUCHED.

ON WEDNESDAY 1/30/2019 MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING NORTH ON I-17 ENTERING FLAGSTAFF WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. THE ENGINE WAS REVING TO ABOUT 6000 RPM BUT THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 5 MPH. SHE MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO A PARKING LOT AND CALL ME FOR HELP. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES THE TRANSMISSION COOLED DOWN AND WORKED NORMALLY. I HAD HER TAKE THE CAR TO A LOCAL SHOP AND HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEY GOT A CODE P0776. THEY CONTACTED NISSAN AND FOUND THE CAR TO BE UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED UNTIL 100,000 MILES. MY DAUGHTER DROVE HOME THE NEXT DAY AND WE TOOK IT INTO PINNACLE NISSAN WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY COULD NOT GET THE CODE TO COME UP SO ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS ABOUT THE TENTH TIME THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED, THIS BEING THE MOST SEVERE. PINNACLE NISSAN AND NISSAN USA ARE TELLING ME TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, THEN BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. I TOLD THEM BOTH THAT THE WARNING LIGHT HAS NEVER COME ON WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS, SO COULD THERE BE A PROBLEM WITH THE CARS COMPUTER ALSO WHICH IS WHY THEY CAN NOT GET A CODE TO COME UP? THEY SAID NO, THAT IS NOT HAPPENING?

while driving 25mph-49mph, the hood unexpectedly opened and flew back into the windshield causing the windshield to crack/shatter. No warning lights had been illuminated. Driver pulled over safely got out of the car along with 2 passengers. Driver contacted the police and had the car towed to the nearest auto body shop. calling NISSAN on monday 9/22/25. seems like there was a MAJOR recall in 2020 (HOOD LATCH RECALL, that states the hood may open without warning while driving and could obscure the driver’s vision, increasing the risk of a crash.)that this vehicle was not part of but exact thing happend that was stated as reason for recall.

After the car warms up it will not accelerate like it should. I was stopped at a light - when I went to turn left at the light my car would not accelerate. It slowly rolled out into oncoming traffic. Like it was in limp mode or something. Then at the last minute the car jolted forward like I had the gas pedal fully depressed. Very scary and unsafe. I’ve had this happen many times. I’ve taken it in but haven’t found a solution.

After driving the vehicle for about an hour, when coming to a stop, the vehicle will not accelerate. Stepping in the acceleration pedal does nothing. No RPM increase, nothing. After 10 seconds the vehicle suddenly takes off. After angry drivers honk. The RPMS rev up and will not decrease to normal. I am limited to 25 mph with very high RPMs. Same thing repeats after every stop. The problem goes away intermittently after restarting the car. I've almost died trying to make turns in front of oncoming traffic when it will not accelerate.

Going down the highway coming home my hood popped up and blocked my visibility I swerved off the road causing my back tire to blow out. Now my hood will not open back up, since I closed it on the highway. I got my car to my house with the spare but am not sure what to do now. I looked and apparently my car has a recall for a faulty hood and was never taken in for inspection. I believe this was the cause of my hood failure.

Since June of 2022, my car has been in service repair a total of 10 times. Each time my check engine comes on, the diagnostic codes always involve the A/F sensor. This started at 35,000 miles and Nissan cannot figure out the issue. There are SEVERAL bulletins addressing the issue, with the most recent being 2022. The service dealership will no longer work on my car surrounding the issue. As a result of having a sensor issue that cannot be repaired, the car will periodically not respond with acceleration. I have had two VERY close calls of making a left hand turn in front of oncoming traffic with the gas pedal suddenly not responding no matter how hard it’s pressed. It’s almost as if it goes into neutral. The rpm’s increase and the engine revs, but it just won’t move. After several seconds of remaining motionless, the car then suddenly accelerates to the speed that it should. This issue is not an outlier. I contacted several people that listed their cars for sale, that stated their check engine light is on due to an 02 sensor. They all stated they have tried to get the car repaired with zero success. People then just sell the car and transfer the issue to another person. If it hasn’t already, this issue is going to kill someone. My car stalled in front of two cars coming towards me at 50 mph. Had they not stopped in time, I would have been T-boned on the drivers side. That wouldn’t have ended well. Nissan suggested I sell the car- that is their solution regarding a car that became unrepairable at 35,000 miles. Nissan did send an engineer to the dealership to inspect the car- multiple times. They do not know how to fix the issue.

Diagnosed CVT failure; Nissan refuses to replace the transmission at their cost. Took the vehicle to multiple mechanics before the issue was officially diagnosed, as the issue is difficult to diagnose. When operating the vehicle, at times the vehicle will stop accelerating; driver is pressing on the accelerator and the RPMs will increase but the vehicle will not be propelled forward and the power steering is disengaged. The issue is intermittent so the driver does not when this will occur, other drivers on the road also do not know our car is stalled, and this creates a huge safety risk. Also, when stopped at a stop sign or stoplight and attempting to turn onto another street, driver will attempt to accelerate and turn and the vehicle will not move or will barely move and the power steering is disengaged. If the cross-street has traffic, my vehicle is immovable in oncoming traffic -- a huge safety issue.

Mossy Nissan El Cajon, didn't report an accident that the car was involved in prior to the sale of the car to me. This car sustained front end damage. Resulting in a repair to the frame/sway bar. Thus effecting the steering and suspension of the car. This car was repaired and paid for by an insurance company. However, Nissan didn't disclose this information, so that the end result was the sale of the car.

Yes. On 11/21/22 I took my client shopping it took 30 minutes to reach our destination. I unloaded her walker so she could enter the store while I parked my car. Upon parking the car I noticed two burn marks in the leather passenger seat that were not there previously and did not look any near what a cigarette burn would look like. Along with a bluish discoloration surrounding the burn marks including along seam closest to the burn marks. The heated seat function was being used at the time due to temps and clients age.10. Minutes prior to arriving at our destination the passenger asked me to turn off the seat heater on her side, which i did. As I stated it was after I helped her out of the passenger seat and parked the car that i noticed the large burn marks and discoloration. This could have caught fire and severely burned my client and/or caught my entire car on fire which I need for my job and only source of income A layman would be under the assumption that these seat heater would automatically shut off if they reached a certain temp. Now I have a 6 year old vehicle (which I kept clean and in good working order with a damaged leather front passenger seat due to some wiring defect that was not my fault

The headlights are very dim. It is available for inspection upon request. It is a safety hazard at night time due to low visibility. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacurer, police, insurance or others. There were no warnings, it seemed to happen gradually. I discovered there was a class action settlement, but I was not receive notification and had already missed the deadline.

My 2016 Altima is experiencing a sporadic delay when accelerating from a stop. It won’t rev or do anything for a couple of seconds no matter how far down the pedal is. Then all of a sudden it’ll go. There is no check engine light and no codes. If I turn the car off, it’s like it resets and has more power afterwards.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the hood unlatched, opened, and struck the windshield. The contact stated that the windshield was cracked and was partially broken with shattered pieces falling off. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. The contact stated upon attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact's friends arrived at the scene and assisted the contact in jumpstarting the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the hood was severely bent and would not properly close. The vehicle was then taken to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. A case was opened. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at his expense. The VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

The transmission has went out twice on this car, this will be the second time. It is dangerous and a major safety issue for me to drive my car especially with children in it. I can be at a red light and on the highway etc. it’s very slow to accelerate that can cause an accident and other things. It drives very slowly on highways and on the road. It jerks and everything that causes me to have anxiety attacks etc. 3 months after I brought the car the transmission went out and 2 1/2 years later it’s going out again. I need my car to run properly and to be safe for me and my children.

The transmission has went out twice on this car within 2 1/2 years. I don’t drive it excessively. It is dangerous and a major safety issue for me to drive my car especially with children in it. I can be at a red light and on the highway etc. it’s very slow to accelerate that can cause an accident and other things, at the red light it takes a long time to start moving, it’s very sluggish. It drives very slowly on highways like 20 mph and on the road. It will start off slow and then accelerate and go super fast, that really scares me. It jerks really bad and everything that causes me to have anxiety attacks, IBS etc. Its getting worst everyday. It’s a major safety hazard on the road especially for my children. My son is scared, panics and cry’s as well in the car because how it’s driving. I have a baby and an 8 year old. I’m disabled as well as my son. Can you please help I’m so scared it’s very unsafe. I have to drive to get myself to work, doctors appointments, my children to school and daycare. I hope you understand. Please investigate this. For the past two years I have been experiencing dim headlights. I have had them change twice and still cannot see 5 feet ahead of me. I was unaware that this could be a common problem with this model. Also, the passenger air light stays on even when no one is sitting in the seat. this problem started about six months ago. Now I think the transmission maybe starting to slip.

Upon arriving to my grandson's daycare, I applied by brake and put my car in park and suddenly my car accelerated at a fast speed. My car moved forward across an area that the children are usually playing in, but because it was raining they were inside. Thank God! I can't even imagine what would have happened. My car finally stopped because I was trying to avoid the daycare's shed, but hit the corner of the shed and this stopped the car. The air bag did not deploy as well. I am thankful to be alive and unharmed, but most thankful that no one else was harmed. My husband took photos of the brake marks on the pavement and grass and of the vehicle after collision with the shed and showing it was in park.

FIRST: I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH A REGULAR TRUCK HAULING AN ENCLOSED TRAILER DROVE OVER A LARGE PIECE OF PLYWOOD ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH IN FRONT OF ME (ALSO GOING ABOUT 70 MPH) CAUSING THE PIECE OF PLYWOOD TO RAISE OFF OF THE ROAD AFTER HE CLEARED IT AND IT FLEW INTO THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AND BOUNCED UP ONTO THE HOOD AND THEN HIT THE ROOF BEFORE FLYING OFF OF MY CAR. DURING THIS PROCESS, PIECES OF THE PLYWOOD BECAME STUCK IN THE GRILL AREA OF MY CAR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, THANKFULLY, BUT I AM CONCERNED THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SECOND: I'VE HAD THIS CAR SINCE JULY OF 2019. OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED THAT WHEN I PRESS THE GAS, THE RPMS RISE BUT THE TRANSMISSION TAKES A BIT TO SHIFT INTO GEAR CAUSING A LAG IN ACCELERATION. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT IF I AM AT A LIGHT OR A STOP AND SHIFT INTO DRIVE SPORT, IT DOESN'T DO THIS. I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE HABIT OF SHIFTING INTO THE SPORT MODE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. THIRD: MY DAUGHTER WAS HIT TODAY BY A TRUCK CROSSING LANES TO TURN IN FRONT OF HER. SHE WAS TRAVELING AT APPX 35 MPH. THE TRUCK HIT MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AREA, DESTROYING MY HEADLIGHT, BUMPER, AND GRILL. IT WAS HIT HARD AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK, CAUSING HER TO BOUNCE FORWARD AND SMACK HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I AM CONCERNED NOW ABOUT THE SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS AND AM MORE WORRIED THAT THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE SAME ISSUES. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE NEW HOWEVER THERE ARE GRINDING ISSUES AND HARD TO STOP WHILE STATION OR IN MOTION ON HIGHWAYS, STREETS, OR TURNING. I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE RELAY SWITCH. THEY REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD BE THEY 'REBOOTED THE SOFTWARE', BUT AGAIN, THE CAR STILL HAS THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE TO THEY COULD DO UNLESS THERE WAS A "CODE" TO READ, BUT SINCE THE PROBLEM IS RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT, THERE IS NO CODE. I FEEL THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. VERY SHAKEN UP NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I PULLED OFF ON THE NEXT EXIT AND FOUND MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. THE GLASS FLYING OUT (HWY SPEED) CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PAINT ON THE ROOF AND TRUNK OF MY CAR. I CALLED NISSAN DEALER WHO SUGGESTED I CALL CORPORATE. CORPORATE SAID TO BRING CAR TO DEALER. DEALER CHECKED VENTS SAID THEY WERE CLEAR. SERVICE MANAGER AS WELL AS A COUPLE SERVICE PEOPLE CAME OUT TO TALK TO ME AND TOLD ME THIS IS DEFINATELY A NISSAN DEFECT AND THE SUNROOF AND PAINT WOULD BE COVERED. AFTER A FEW DAYS WITH NO WORD I WENT TO THE DEALER (THEY DID GIVE ME A COURTESY VEHICLE). WHEN I WENT TO CHECK ON MY CAR THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE SUNROOF WAS IN. I AGAIN TOLD HIM I NEED TO KNOW IF ALL INCLUDING PAINT IS COVERED. I HAD OPENED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE BEFORE I CALLED NISSAN AND I DID NOT CLOSE THAT CLAIM UNTIL I KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. NISSAN WENT AHEAD AND PUT IN THE SUNROOF. TOLD ME AGAIN PAINT WOULD BE COVERED. TWICE THEY SAID IT WAS DONE. TWICE REFUSED BECAUSE PAINT WAS NOT TOUCHED. NISSAN DEALER THEN SAID THAT NISSAN WILL PAY $1000 TOWARDS THE $1230 SUNROOF AND WILL NOT COVER PAINT. CALLED CORPORATE BACK WHO SENT TO REGIONAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHO DENIED ANY CLAIM WITH MY CAR. I HAD TO PAY THE $230 AND BRING TO AUTOBODY SHOP FOR PAINT REPAIR. WITH ANOTHER DEDUCTIBLE. NO CAR NOW FOR 3 WEEKS.

TOOK IT TO DEALER IN SAN DIEGO, DIAGNOSIS WAS A P0101 CODE (MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR/ORANGE PCV VALVE). THEN AT 20,598 MILES, I SAW MY LIFE FLASH BEFORE MY EYES. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 5 IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DOING 72 MPH WITH A TRUCK BEHIND ME AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ALTIMA WILL NOT ACCELERATE! MEANWHILE THE RPM'S ARE JUMPING UP AND DOWN. AGAIN THE DEALER SAID IT WAS CODE P0101, REPLACED THE PCV VALVE AGAIN. NEXT AT 20,833 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. DEALER INFORMED ME THERE WAS CARBON BUILD UP IN THE THROTTLE BODY AND FOUND CODE P0101 AS WELL. AT THAT POINT THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY WITH A NEW ONE. AT 24,095, THE DEALER STATED BOTH SHOCKS WERE LEAKING. BOTH SHOCKS WERE REMOVED AND REPLACED. AT 25,076 MILES THE BACK DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ACUATOR. AT THE SAME ENCOUNTER, THE BACK DRIVER WINDOW DID NOT ROLL DOWN MORE THAN HALF WAY. FOUND VAPOR BARRIER AND CABLE DAMAGED. ALSO, DURING THIS TIME POOR ACCELERATION WAS NOTICED AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND DELETED STOP LAMP RELAY. FINALLY ON THIS VISIT NEW HEAT SHIELDS AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (VALLEY NISSAN, 1005 KEN PRATT BLVD, LONGMONT, CO 80501), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.

MY TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANTLY KICKING BACK AT ME, THIS MORNING 2017-09-27 MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY GAVE OUT. REVING IS TO 5-6 RPM NOT BEING ABLE TO EXCEED 10 MPH. THE DRIVERS SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG KEEPS TRIPPING MY AIRBAGS TO DEACTIVATE. HAVE TO HAD THE CODE RESET SEVERAL TIMES. THE BACK UP CAMERA LOOKS LIKE IT IS LOOSING SIGNAL EVEN THOUGH IT IS HARD WIRED, THE LANE SENSOR WARNINGS FAIL, FAILING TO INFORM OF A VEHICLE IN YOUR BLIND SPOT. THE KEY FOB CONTINUOUSLY SAYS KEY INVAILED DASHBOARD.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO EMPIRE NISSAN LOCATED IN ONTARIO, CA WHO WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT THE CONTACT TO FONTANA NISSAN LOCATED IN FONTANA, CA WHERE THE IMMOBILIZER, BATTERY, REMOTE, AV MASTER CONTROL UNIT, REARVIEW CAMERA, REARVIEW CAMERA ASSEMBLY, DOOR HANDLES ON THE DRIVER SIDE, TRUNK LID GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY, AND THE TRUNK LOCK WERE ALL REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 26294642. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.

I HAD A BLOW OUT IN MY FREAKING NEW CAR! THIS HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE AND CERTAINLY WASN'T EXPECTED AFTER ONLY HAVING THIS CAR FOR SAY UMMM ALL OF 2 MONTHS!!! I WAS SO FRUSTRATED, CALLED MY CAR COMPANY AND THEY DID NOT WANT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE IT CAUSED UNDERNEATH MY CAR.
