WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT APPROX 45MPH I WAS COMING UP UPON A TRAFFIC LIGHT INTERSECTION AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT INJURING OR KILLING SOMEONE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED OUT BY MY MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED ME THAT A C1179 DTC WAS SHOWING UP IN THE COMPUTER. HE ALSO SAID TSB WAS ON FILE FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER AND THEY "PERFORMED THE REPAIR". A WEEK LATER, I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, THE GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD. I HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER. NISSAN MUST BE AWARE OF THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS PROBLEM WHEN I SEARCHED THE WEB. I ALSO FOUND A LAWSUIT AGAINST NISSAN THAT IS BEING HEARD IN US DISTRICT COURT ON 4/26/12. THE NHTSA SHOULD ACT ON THIS QUICKLY BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. NISSAN HAS DONE NOTHING ACCEPT CHARGE FOR THE "REPAIRS". *JS

WHILE EXITING THE INTERSTATE, WENT AROUND THE EXIT RAMP. THE BRAKES DEPRESSED FARTHER THAN NORMAL AND MADE A GRINDING SOUND. THE BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ONE. THE VEHICLE SHOOK WHILE I TRIED TO BRAKE. I NARROWLY MISSED THE GUARDRAIL AND MANAGED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN, ALTHOUGH IT TOOK LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE, AND I DROVE SLOWLY TO A SERVICE STATION NEARBY. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED, AND I WAS TOLD I HAD BEEN DRIVING WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON AND THAT THE BRAKES HAD JUST "HEATED UP". I WASN'T DRIVING WITH THE PARKING BREAK ON THOUGH. IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER AND WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE STATION. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT NEEDED TO GO TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE SERVICE CODES PULLED, AND THAT THERE HAD BEEN BRAKING ISSUES WITH THE MODEL AND YEAR. FURTHER INVESTIGATION ONLINE REVEALED IT CAN BE FIXED BY SHUTTING CAR OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN, AT RANDOM TIMES WITH NO ANTECEDENT. I DRIVE CAUTIOUSLY AND LEAVE PLENTY OF BRAKING ROOM, AS I AM NERVOUS ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE BRAKES AND MY ABILITY TO STOP. PLEASE HAVE NISSAN ADDRESS AND FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM!

I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A LIGHT KNOCK AND NOTICED BRAKE LIGHT ON. WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY BRAKES THEY STARTED MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AND IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT AND TURNED VEHICLE OFF, WHEN I RESTARTED BRAKE LIGHT WAS OFF AND BRAKES WHERE WORKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. WITH IN FIVE MINUTES OF DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THERE WAS A LACK OF BRAKE PRESSURE AND A GRINDING SOUND WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE HAD VERY MINIMAL BREAKING POWER AND I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY THE BRAKES ALONE, COASTING IS REQUIRED. IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE SYSTEM WILL RESET AND THE BRAKES WILL RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION. WITHIN THE LAST YEAR THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. LAST YEAR, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND I CAREFULLY DROVE IT 2-3 MILES TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHILE THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON, WHICH REVEALED A FAILURE OF THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR (C1179). I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO DRIVE IT AND EXPERIENCE THE LACK OF BRAKES BUT BY THE TIME HE DROVE IT THE SYSTEM HAD RESET ITSELF. THE DIAGNOSIS CANNOT BE DONE UNLESS THE BRAKE LIGHT IS ON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES BUT THEY FAILED TO OPERATE AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE WOULD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN BUT THE BRAKES REMAINED OPERABLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE JANUARY 2011. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR PARKING BRAKE SHOE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND BOTH ROTORS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FURTHER REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

This issue had been going on for years with my 2004 Nissan Armada. Driving down the freeway at approximately 70mph and the brake light comes on out of no where. When this happens there us no way to safe stop the vehicle because the brakes will not engage. There is this rattling and grinding sound that happens each time. The only way to safely continue is turn the truck off and back on. This needs to be corrected immediately before there is a fatal because of brake failure. Nissan refuse to research all the complaints.

As I was driving through the canyon at 55 mph I pressed on my brakes to begin to slow down for the construction zone coming up and they felt like air no pressure then there was a grinding sound like something was breaking underneath my vehicle as I let off my brakes the brake light came on and it sounded like a spring releasing under my vehicle. I attempted to use my brakes almost a dozen times attempting to stop with the same grinding and spring sound happening. Once I was finally able to come to a safe stop I turned my vehicle off and once I turned it back on the brake light was off and the pressure was back in my brakes

TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH NEAR MY OFFRAMP WHEN BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND IT DOESN'T GET DRIVEN ON A REGULAR BASIS AS IT IS OUR 3RD VEHICLE. AS I APPROACHED THE RAMP WITH BRAKES EVEN LIGHTLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKES CHATTERED AND FELT WEEK. HAD TO STOP ON THE RAMP, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART SO I COULD CONTINUE. AT LEAST THIS TIME I KNEW WHAT TO DO TO MAKE GO AWAY AT LEAST TEMPORARILY. WE HAVE TO ALWAYS MAKE SURE WE HAVE PLENTY OF EXTRA SPACE IN FRONT OF US SO WE TIME TO REACT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. ALSO HAD AN INCIDENT WHILE TOWING A SMALL UTILITY TRAILER EARLY IN 2020 WHEN IT HAPPENED AND IT WAS MUCH MORE EXTREME AND I WAS AFRAID I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP IT AT THE UPCOMING STOP SIGN. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS AND FIX IT AT THEIR COST. IF IT CAN BE REST BY JUST TURNING THE KEY OFF SOMEONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGURE THIS OUT. MY UNDERSTANDING FROM THE FORUMS I HAVE RED THAT THE DEALERS JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY TO REPLACE PARTS THAT DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS EVEN ON WHO SAID THEY REPLACED ALMOST ALL BRAKE RELATED PARTS AND IT STILL DID IT.

THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM 10MPH TO 70MPH.WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND FREEWAYS AND NEED TO COME TO A STOP THE BRAKE LIGHT, VDC OFF LIGHT, AND SLIP LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN BRAKES APPLIED, VERY LOUD GRINDING/CLUNKING METAL NOISE HAPPENED AND BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE ONLY AT ABOUT 10% OF BRAKES WORKING IT SEEMS. I STOP TURN OFF THE CAR AND START IT BACK UP AND IT SEEMS TO RESET. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN AS I ALMOST GOT INTO NUMEROUS COLLISIONS BECAUSE OF THIS ABS BRAKE MALFUNCTION !! DOING RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM FROM OTHER ARMADA OWNERS FORUMS THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS QUIET FREQUENTLY. SOME OWNERS CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT ITS A FAULTY DELTA SENSOR IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. NISSAN MUST RECALL THIS PROBLEM ASAP!!

THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT OF AN ACCIDENT OR CRASH. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT-NOTHING WAS BUT OR BUMPED JUST DRIVING 35 MPH AND THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FULLY AND THE SEAT BELTS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIGHTENED TO THE POINT OF RESTRICTED BREATHING. THE SEATBELTS NO LOMGER CAN BE USED AS THEY SHOULD. THEY DO NOT EXTEND OUT FULLY. AND THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY. BEFORE THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE SIDE AIRBAGS THE BRAKES WOULD GRIND TO THE POINT OF NEEDING TO PULL OVER TO PUMP THE BRAKES IN ORDER FOR THEM TO FUNCTION AGAIN PROPERLY. After making a left turn I heard a loud popping sound from the rear of the vehicle so I continued driving at about 20mph. for about another 350 yds. While making a right turn into my apartment. I heard a loud clanked sound. I looked and saw that the upper control arm on the rear drivers side had broke apart due to rust. Luckily I was only pulling into my apartment. I was quite disturbed by this incident because I had just gotten off the interstate with my family in the vehicle with me..

Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 10E019000 (Suspension) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 99,200.

DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH WITH GAUGE READING HALF TANK OF FUEL. CAR SUDDENLY STARTED LOOSING ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED OVER AS QUICKLY AND SAFELY AND SHUT OFF CAR. CAR WOULD NO LONGER START. MY CHILDREN WERE PANICKING AS THIS IS OUR MAIN SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION AND WE COULD BARELY GET OFF THE ROAD SINCE WE HAD ZERO NOTICE OR WARNING OF ANYTHING HAPPENING AND ACCORDING TO THE GAUGE, I HAD PLENTY OF FUEL. WE HAD TO BE TOWED HOME AFTER WAITING FOR 3 HOURS FOR A TOW TRUCK. AFTER MANY SEARCHES OF WHAT COULD BE, I SAW FAULTY GAS GAUGES ARE A COMMON ISSUE. SO I ADDED A COUPLE GALLONS OF GAS AND MY CAR FIRED RIGHT UP.

NISSAN ARMADA AIR FILTER HOUSING RECALL... OVER THE PASS COUPLE OF YEARS, I'VE NOTICE THAT OUR TRUCK WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. WE'D START IT BACK UP, AND CONTINUE DRIVING AND IT WOULD SHUT OFF AGAIN. AFTER CHECKING THE AIR FILTER UNDER THE HOOD, I DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS DIRTY. SO, I REPLACED THE FILTER AND IT WOULD BE GOOD. HOWEVER, AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF DRIVING IT WILL REPEAT THE SAME THING OF JUST SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. RECENTLY, IT HAS BEEN SHUTTING DOWN MORE OFTEN. SO, AFTER SOME LOOKING UNDERNEATH THE HOOD, I WENT BACK TO THE AIR FILTER HOUSING BOX AND DISCOVERED THAT THE AIR FILTER HOUSING BOX DOES NOT SEAL PROPERLY. AS A RESULT OF THE AIR FILTER HOUSING NOT SEALING PROPERLY, AIR SEEPS IN THROWING OFF THE AIR TO GAS RATIO MIXTURE AND IT SHUTS DOWN THE ENGINE, TURNING OFF THE CAR IN THE MIDST OF DRIVING. HOWEVER, AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, MY TRUCK LITERALLY SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING FIVE (5) TIMES. I THEN WENT BACK UNDER THE HOOD OF THE TRUCK, READJUSTED THE AIR FILTER HOUSING IN AN ATTEMPT TO SEAL IT TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY AND MY TRUCK DID NOT SHUT DOWN AT ALL. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE THAT I BELIEVE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT. I'VE TALKED TO OTHER NISSAN OWNERS THEY HAVE REPORTED THE SAME THING. MY FUEL GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 TANK OF GAS AND I RAN OUT OF FUEL ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND STALLED OUT. I WAS IN FEAR FOR MY FAMILIES LIFE AND HAD MY WIFE STEER THE CAR WHILE I PUSHED IT OVER TO THE SHOULDER. A PASSER BYE IN A PICK UP HAD A CAN OF GAS AND IT WAS ENOUGH TO GET ME TO A GAS STATION. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2005 ARMADA FOR THE FUEL SENDING SENSOR BUT NOT ON THE 2004. THIS IS APPARENTLY A LOT OF 2004 ARMADAS THAT HAVE THIS SAFETY MALFUNCTION.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO COAST ACCROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC AT A SPEED OF 40 MILES PER HOUR. THERE WERE FOU PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE, TWO ADULTS AND TWO CHILDREN WHO WERE ALL EXTREMELY FRIGHTENED BY THE EXPERIENCE. AT LEAST ONE VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND OURS HAD TO COME TO A FAST HAULT JUST BARELY MISSING THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK. I HD THE VEHICLE TOWED BY AAA BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START OR CRACK UP. AFTER LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITH MY PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR ONE DAY HE DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I THEN CALLED MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO EXPLAIN THE ISSUE AND TO SEE IF A RECALL HAD BEEN DONE IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE I WAS TOLD "NO" AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED BECAUSE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS UP. I THEN ASKED IF THE VEHICLE HAD ANY RECENT RECALLS AND WAS TOLD NO. WE PURCHASED OUR 2004 NISSAN ARMADA 1 MAY 2004. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE THE PURCHASE. IT WILL COME OFF OF THE TRACK EVERYTIME YOU PUT THE WINDOW DOWN. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IN NASHVILLE. THET DID NOT WANT TO HELP US UNTIL I ABSOLUTELY THREW A FIT BECAUSE THE WINDOW WAS STUCK DOWN. THEN NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN CLARKSVILLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE OTHER DEALERSHIP HAD ALREADY WORKED ON IT. SO, I PROCEEDED TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP IN NASHIVLLE. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I ENDED UP TAKING THE VEHICLE TO CLARKSVILLE, WHERE THEY PROCEEDED TO BLAME NASHVILLE FOR THE SHODY WORK. CLARKSVILLE PROCEEDED TO FIX THE VEHICLE WITH A NEW PART FOR THE WINDOW, AND WERE WELL AWARE THAT WE WOULD BE MOVING TO NEW YORK THE NEXT WEEK. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO WE NOTICED THAT THE WINDOW WAS OFF THE TRACK AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS IN THE NEW YORK AREA, THE FIRST IS BAY RIDGE NISSAN. THEY WANTED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. SO, I DECIDED NOT TO GO BACK TO THAT DEALERSHIP. THEN TODAY, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON STATEN ISLAND WHICH COST ME $8 IN TOLLS FOR ME TO BE TREATED LIKE A MORON AND LIKE I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE VEHICLE I AM DRIVING. I HAD TO CALL MY HUSBAND, WHO IN TURN HAD TO PAY ANOTHER $8 IN TOLLS TO COME AND HELP ME EVEN GET A LITTLE HELP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. FUNNY HOW THERE MINDS CHANGED WHEN HE SHOWED UP. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH IN THE NIGHT TIME, SUDDENLY DASH BOARD LIGHTS FLASHES VERY RAPIDLY AND STALLS THE ENGINE. LUCKILY, NO OTHER CAR WAS NEXT TO US. WE SAFELY STOPPED THE OUR 2004 NISSAN ARMADA SUV ON THE SIDE OF ROAD. AFTER ABOUT 10~15 MINUTES, WE TRIED TO RE-START THE CAR, BUT NO LUCK. AFTER GIVING GAS PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES, WE COULD RE-START THE CAR. WE DROVE HOME (ABOUT 5 MILES IN DISTANCE) SAFELY. NEXT DAY, WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO HER PARENTS' HOUSE, ONCE AGAIN, WITH RAPID FLASHING ON THE DASH BOARD, THE ENGINE DIES WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. A GOOGLE SEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET WILL SHOW ANYONE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS RAMPANT ON ALL NISSAN ARMADA VEHICLES, ALL YEARS, AND THEREFORE MUST BE RECALLED AS A SAFETY DEFECT. TODAY I TOOK 2004 ARMADA THROUGH A TOUCH LESS CAR WASH AS I HAVE DONE MANY TIMES BEFORE. THE UPPER REAR HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT HOUSING, ACTUALLY A BODY PART OF THE VEHICLE, CAME OFF DURING THE EXITING OF THE CAR WASH. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE BLOWER BLEW THE WATER OFF THE ARMADA AND BLEW THIS HOUSING DOWN ONTO THE REAR WINDOW. UPON INSPECTION THE PLASTIC RIVETS THAT HOLD THE HOUSING IN PLACE HAD SHEERED OFF, AND THE WIND BLEW THE UNIT DOWN ONTO THE WINDOW. THE UNIT CAME DOWN WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO BREAK THE BACK WINDOW AND DID INFECT SCRATCH IT. THE ONLY THING PREVENTING THE UNIT FROM COMING COMPLETELY OFF AND BECOMING A PROJECTILE OBJECT WAS THE WIRING. IT APPEARS THAT THE AUTO MOBILE MAKER IS AWARE OF THIS, BUT DOES NOT WARN CONSUMERS, AND WILL NOT REPAIR THIS DESIGN FLAW WITH SUBSTANTIAL ANCHORS. IN A ROLL OVER THIS COULD COME OFF COMPLETELY AND BECOME A PROJECTILE OBJECT. ADDITIONALLY, UNTIL I AM ABLE TO GET THIS FIXED I AM RIDING AROUND WITHOUT BENEFIT OF A REAR BRAKE LIGHT AS REQUIRED BY FEDERAL LAW. THIS COMPLAINT PERTAINS TO A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA SUV VEHICLE. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET REVEALS THAT THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS COMMON AMONGST OWNERS OF NISSAN ARMADA VEHICLES, AND WARRANTS NISSAN TAKING ACTION TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS SAFETY RELATED, AND WARRANTS AN INVESTIGATION BY NISSAN, AND RECALL TO ENSURE SAFETY OF VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. THE VEHICLE IS A FULL SIZED SUV, WITH SEATING FOR 7-8 OCCUPANTS. THE PROBLEM I AM REFERRING TO TODAY RELATES TO THE REAR HATCH DOOR. THE REAR HATCH DOOR HANDLES (THERE ARE TWO) ARE SUPPOSED TO OPEN EITHER (1) THE REAR HATCH WINDOW, OR (2) THE REAR HATCH DOOR. FOR NEARLY THREE YEARS NOW I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH NOT ACTUALLY BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR (THE DOOR REMAINS LOCKED AND/OR THE HANDLE MECHANISM IS UNRESPONSIVE). THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN. AFTER OPENING UP THE DOOR PANELING TO VIEW THE CONTENTS, THERE IS NOTHING BROKEN OR VISIBLY WRONG, JUST A FAULTY ENGINEERING DESIGN AND/OR COMPONENTS THAT SOMEHOW DO NOT "MESH" TO ENSURE PROPER OPERATION. A "GOOGLE" INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH MANY ARMADA VEHICLES, AND OWNERS AND SERVICE SHOPS HAVE HAD DIFFICULTIES RECTIFYING THIS PROBLEM. MOST PEOPLE JUST ORDER NEW PARTS BLINDLY HOPING IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM, AND IN MANY CASES IT HAS NOT. THE SITUATION WARRANTS NISSAN ENGINEERING TEAM TO REVIEW THE PROBLEM, TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHAT IS AT FAULT, AND TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO VEHICLE OWNERS. OUR MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT HE BELIEVED THE TIRES ON OUR NISSAN ARMADA WERE NOT RATED HIGH ENOUGH TO TOW THE CAPACITY THAT NISSAN CLAIMS THEY WILL. STANDARD WITH THE ARMADA ARE P265 70 R18 "PASSENGER" TIRES THAT ARE 4 PLY. WE TOW A LARGE 3 HORSE TRAILER THAT WHEN LOADED TO CAPACITY IS AT THE LIMITS OF THE ARMADA, NOT TO MENTION THE INCREASED WEIGHT OF PASSENGERS AND LUGGAGE IN THE ARMADA. WE HAVE CONTACTED NUMEROUS TIRE COMPANIES ASKING ABOUT WHAT TIRES THEY WOULD RECOMMEND KNOWING THAT IT IS OUR INTENT TO TOW HEAVY LOADS, NOT TO EXCEED THE LIMITS OF THE VEHICLE. NO TIRE COMPANY (GOODYEAR, BF GOODRICH, LES SCHWAB) STATED THEY WOULD SELL US "P" RATED 4 PLY TIRES FOR OUR VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THE TIRES WERE NOT UP TO THE JOB OF HANDLING SUCH HEAVY WEIGHT CAPACITY. RENO NISSAN SAYS THERE IS "NO PROBLEM", HOWEVER, WHEN WE EXPLAINED TO THEM THE PROBLEM WITH THE ARMADA "BRAKE RECALL" AND THE "TRAILER WIRING" RECALL, WE TOLD THEM WE DIDN'T BELIEVE THEM. ALSO, THE XTERRA HAD A "TRAILER HITCH" RECALL BECAUSE THE HITCH SYSTEM WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE LOADS NISSAN SAID THEY WOULD. WE HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH SEVERAL REP'S FROM NHTSA WHO ASKED THAT WE FILE THIS FORMAL COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TOW CAPACITY RATING/TIRES OF THE ARMADA. FORTUNATELY, THERE HAVE BEEN NO FAILURES WITH REGARDS TO OUR TOWING, HOWEVER, THE ARMADA IS NEW AND FEW PEOPLE MAY HAVE YET TO EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, IT IS UNKNOWN HOW MANY OWNERS ACTUALLY USE THE ARMADA FOR THIS TYPE OF TOWING APPLICATION WHICH WOULD SKEW THE NUMBER OF REPORTED FAILURES AND/OR COMPLAINTS RELATING TO IMPROPER TIRES SUPPLIED BY NISSAN. WITH THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE TRAILER WIRING HARNESS ON THE ARMADA, IT IS NOT UNREASONABLE TO SUSPECT THAT NISSAN ENGINEERS SIMPLY MADE ANOTHER MISTAKE AS NISSAN WAS TRYING TO GET INTO THE LARGE SUV MARKET. *JB

DT: WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND HEARD A SOUND OF EXPLOSION AND IT WAS THE TIRE THAT EXPLODED ON THE FREEWAY. WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH. THEN PULLED OVER TO CHANGE IT WITH THE SPARE. I SAW A HOLE ABOUT SIX INCHES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TIRE WALL NOT IN FRONT SIDE. THIS WAS THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. CALLED NISSAN DEALER. THEY SAID TO CONTACT THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. CONSUMER CALLED CONTINENTAL TIRES. AND THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE IT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. THE ONLY OPTION WAS THAT CONSUMER PURCHASED A NEW TIRES WHICH COST $300.00. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CAR WAS CHECKED , AND HAD NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS . NISSAN DEALER SAID TO CALL BACK CONTINENTAL TIRES. WE HAVE A 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA WITH UNDER 74,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE VEHICLE LOOKS LIKE IT IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE UNTIL IT IS PUT ON A LIFT. THE MAJOR CONTROL ARMS OF THE VEHICLE ARE SEVERELY RUSTED WHILE OTHER STEEL IN CLOSE PROXIMITY IS NOT. WE FOUND A RECALL FOR 1996-2004 NISSAN PATHFINDERS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE: 'CAMPAIGN ID #: R1107 'NHTSA #:11V-244 'APPLIED VEHICLES:1996-2004 PATHFINDER (R50) NISSAN NORTH AMERICAN TOLD US THAT THIS RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR VEHICLE. WE BELIEVE THAT THE COMPONENTS USED ON OUR VEHICLE WERE PROBABLY PRODUCED BY THE SAME MANUFACTURER AS THE RECALLED COMPONENTS AND THEREFORE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I PURCHASED MY 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA IN DECEMBER 2004 WITH APPROX. 10 MILES. AROUND THE TURN OF 4,000 MILES, MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THIS SHAKING WAS SO BAD THAT THE TRUCK WAS UNABLE TO STOP OR STEER PROPERLY. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BOTH NARROWLY AVOIDED MAJOR POTENTIALLY INJURIOUS ACCIDENTS AS A RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM. WE STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONERNS, BUT WHEN THIS WAS BROUGHT UP TO THE DEALERSHIPS AND NISSAN NORTH AMERICA WE WERE ASSURED THERE "WAS NO SAFETY ISSUE". THE DEALERSHIP HAS ASSISTED WITH THE PROBLEM AND PROVIDED A "TEMPORARY FIX" TO THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THIS TEMPORARY FIX WILL NOT LAST VERY LONG AND I'LL HAVE TO COME BACK WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED TO A THOUSAND MILES. THE DEALER ASSURED ME THAT THEY'D ATTEMPT TO GET THE HARDWARE TO REPLACE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM, "INFERIOR ROTORS THAT ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE TRUCK", BUT UNTIL THEN I'LL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR MY INFERIOR PRODUCT. THE MOST DAMAGING STATEMENT MADE BY THE DEALER, AGAINST THE CORPORATION, WAS THAT SINCE SO MANY VEHICLES HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THE CORPORATION COULD NOT ORDER ENOUGH PARTS FAST ENOUGHT TO FIX THE FAULTY VEHICLES, "NISSAN MOTORS WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO GET A HARDWARE PACKAGE UNTIL YOU BRING THE VEHICLE IN THE THIRD TIME". THIS WAS ACTUAL GUIDANCE PUT OUT BY NISSAN MOTORS TO DEALERS TO AVOID A BACKLOG. THIS WAS CONFIRMED WHEN I SPOKE WITH NISSAN MOTORS NORTH AMERICA ON JUNE 09, 2005. CAR BEGAN SHAKING WHEN BRAKES APPLIED AT 13,000 MILES. CALLED DEALER TO SEE IF THIS WAS UNCOMMON OR IF OTHER ARMADA DRIVERS WERE COMPLAINING AND TOLD THEY KNEW OF NO PROBLEM. TOOK CAR INTO LOCAL AUTO STORE AND WAS TOLD THE ROTORS WERE BAD AND TO TAKE BACK TO THE DEALER SINCE IT WAS NOT COMMON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN SO EARLY. DEALERSHIP TURNED ROTORS. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 3000 MILES LATER AND BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER AND ASKED FOR ROTORS NOT TO BE TURNED, BUT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY JUST TURNED THE ROTORS AGAIN. SEEMS THEY ARE JUST PUTTING A BANDAID UNTIL I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PROBLEM MYSELF. I HAVE KIDS AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE. I AM READY TO BRING IT IN AGAIN BECAUSE THE CAR IS SHAKING AGAIN. THE NISSAN ARMADA HAS BEEN DESIGNED WITH A MUCH INFERIOR BRAKE SYSTEM, REGARDING TO THE SIZE AND WEIGHT OF THE ARMADA. THEY HAD CUT COSTS BY INSTALLING A NISSAN FRONTIER BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH WEIGHS ABOUT HALF THE WEIGHT OF A NISSAN ARMADA. THIS HAS CAUSED THE BRAKES TO GIVE OUT EVERY 5000 MILES AND ALSO CREATES AN UNSAFE BRAKING SYSTEM. IT ALSO ALLOWS THE VEHICLE TO DIVE WHEN BRAKING NOT GIVING A SAFE BRAKING REACTION TIME. THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE CONSTANTLY REPLACED MY BRAKES (3 TIMES WITHIN 15,OOO MILES) AND DID ADMIT THAT NISSAN HAS ADMITTED TO PUTTING AN INFERIOR BRAKING SYSTEM.

We just keep having endless safety issues. We would be on freeway and all of a sudden it would stop while driving on Freeway!and car going really fast,and almost hitting us my whole family terrified..once in a heavey under pass where supper busy of big rigs almost hitting us one of the most terrifying things you can feel of almost being hit,and this vehicle is super heavey,and cannot push by my self with back injury and my wife with really bad Heart condion , at times it would only go 25 to 35 miles per hour.. my widows keep falling my lightingi I have done everything possible and replaced almost everything, then another problem we depend on what we have and need for our doctors appointment and sometimes don’t start and when it is turn off it dose this noise.. etc can you help me, I don’t have money to keep spending on this car moo put something is very wrong

TRAVELING UP A SLIGHT HILL AT ABOUT 20 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER. THE ENGINE DIED RESULTING IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE IGNITION. I HAD NO POWER AND NO POWER STEERING. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE I TRIED AND SUCCESSFULLY STARTED THE VEHICLE. IT ATTEMPTED TO DIE AGAIN, BUT I REVVED THE ENGINE AND KEPT IT RUNNING. IT WAS FRIGHTENING TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH AND LOST POWER. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THANKFULLY THE INCIDENT WAS ON A COUNTY ROAD WITH NO TRAFFIC AS WE HAD TWO OF OUR GRANDCHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

THE VEHICLE WILL START HAVING ERRATIC RPMS, HESITATION TO ACCELERATE, ENGINE RPMS WILL NOT GO ABOVE 2000-2500 OR BELOW 1000-300 WITHOUT SEVERE HESITATION, THEN SOMETIMES IT WILL JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING NO MATTER IF STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TOTAL LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL HAPPENS... NO BRAKES, POWER STEERING, NO ACCELERATION. EVERY LIGHT TURNS ON ON DASH AND IF YOUR DRIVING AT THE TIME YOU BETTER HOPE THAT YOU CAN QUICKLY THROW IT IN NEUTRAL, CRANK THE ENGINE AT LEAST 2-4 TIMES BEFORE IT'LL START UP, THEN KICK IT BACK IN DRIVE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AGAIN SO YOU CAN PULL OVER SOMEWHERE SAFE BEFORE YOU GET INTO A SERIOUS WRECK. TAKING IT TO NISSAN WAS POINTLESS SINCE AFTER YOU GET THE ARMADA RESTARTED, IT DOESN'T RETAIN ANY CODES THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN USE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM NOR CAN THE MECHANIC REPLICATE THE ISSUE ON TEST DRIVES. AT WHICH POINT I LOOK LIKE I'M THE CRAZY ONE, THEN THEY SEND ME OFF ON MY WAY WITH NO ANSWERS. THE ONLY OTHER PROBLEM THAT THE ARMADA HAD LONG BEFORE THIS PROBLEM, DURING IT, AND CURRENTLY IS A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHICH, TOO, IS APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT PLAGUES OTHER ARMADAS WHICH NISSAN REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL. THIS ISSUE IS HARD TO SUPPORT WITH PICS OR DOCUMENTS SINCE IT ALMOST ALWAYS OCCURS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION SO YOU'RE TOO OCCUPIED TRYING NOT TO KILL YOURSELF OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD AND WHEN YOU DO GO TO NISSAN THERE NO CODES TO PULL SINCE I GUESS THE VEHICLE ERASES IT AFTER THE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH IN THE EVENING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WITH NO ACCIDENT NO FENDER BENDER OR BUMP THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON, SHAKEN AND SCARED SHE CALLED ME TO INFORM ME OF THE SITUATION, THANKFULLY MY KIDS WERE NOT IN THE CAR AT THE TIME! I BEGAN TO DO RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE, THIS AIRBAG SENSOR THAT IS BAD ON ALL ARMADAS WERE RECALLED EXCEPT THE 04 MODEL ACCORDING TO NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE, SO INITIALLY I WAS APPALLED, THE NICE LADY AT NISSAN SAID THAT IN ORDER FOR ME TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC OUT OF MY OWN POCKET LIKE THE OTHER POOR GUY ON HERE WHO PAID AND WAS OUT OF A VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS JUST TO END UP IN A SITUATION WHERE THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AFTER THEY FIND THAT THE SENSOR STATES VEHICLE WAS IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T!!! DOESN'T MATTER THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE, BRAKES TEND TO PRESS TO THE FLOOR, GRINDING NOISE AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS IS TO PULL OVER THE VEHICLE, TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART IT. IT RANDOMLY HAPPENS, BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IF AND WHEN I TOW OR AM ON THE HIGHWAY, I DON'T WON'T MY BRAKES TO NOT WORK. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED SINCE I PURCHASED THE USED 2004 ARMADA ABOUT 1.5YRS AGO. THE ARMADA WHEN PURCHASED HAD APPROXIMATELY 123,000 MILES ON IT. NOT LONG AFTER I PURCHASED WHILE DRIVING AT 50MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT THE BRAKES WERE AT APPROXIMATELY 5% AND THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL GRINDING NOISE. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON AGAIN THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE SO THIN THE BRAKE PADS WERE HAVING TROUBLE GRIPPING THEM AND THAT WAS CONFUSING THE ABS WHICH IS WHAT I WAS HEARING. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE BRAKE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED AT ADDITIONAL COST. I PAID FOR EVERYTHING TO BE DONE ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN A COUPLE MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY ON A GRAVEL SURFACE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS TOLD JUST TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF AGAIN AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT IN. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. BRAKES GO OUT, PEDDLE GOES SOFT AND ELECTRICAL NOISE. I TOOK THE ARMADA TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THIS TIME THE BRAKE FLUID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED WHY WASN'T THAT DONE WHEN ALL THE OTHER WORK WAS PERFORMED ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES EARLIER. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT PART OF THE WORK TO REPLACE THE BRAKES. I PAID TO HAVE THE BRAKE FLUID REPLACED. RECALLS HAVE BEEN DONE ON 2004 ARMADAS FOR BRAKE ISSUES IN THE PAST, DURING MY LAST VISIT TO NISSAN I WAS TOLD THE MODULE THAT CONTROLS ALL THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE COULD BE BAD WHICH MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN ARMADA HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH IT'S FRONT BRAKES BEING UNDERSIZED IN THE EARLY MODELS OF SAID VEHICLES (MODEL YEARS 2004-2006). SEVERAL TIMES HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH BRAKES NOT RESPODING AND LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THIS IS CAUSED BY UNDERSIZED BREAKS. NOT HAVING PROPER SIZED BRAKES HAS LED TO ROTORS EASILY OVERHEATING AND GLAZING THE BRAKE PADS WHICH THEN LED TO HOT SPOTTED, WARPED, OR OTHERWISE RUINED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. NISSAN ARMADA (AND TITAN WHICH IS IDENTICAL MECHANICALLY) HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH IT'S FRONT BRAKES BEING UNDERSIZED IN THE EARLY MODELS OF SAID VEHICLES (MODEL YEARS 2004-2006). THIS CAN EASILY BE CONFIRMED BY NISSAN'S THREE CHANGES THEY HAVE MADE TO THE FRONT BRAKES OF THESE VEHICLES EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLES HAVE ESSENTIALLY REMAINED UNCHANGED FROM YEARS 2004 RIGHT UP THOUGH THE CURRENT MODEL YEAR 2015. THEY FIRST CHANGED THE ROTOR THICKNESS, THEN THE ROTOR DIAMETER (320MM TO 350MM) AND THE CALIPERS/TORQUE MEMBERS/BRAKE HOSES, THEN FINALLY THEY CHANGED THE INNER HUB DIAMETER OF THE ROTOR DUE TO AN INCREASE IN THE HUB/BEARING SIZE (82MM TO 90MM). NISSAN HAD ISSUED AT LEAST ONE TSB ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY NEVER ISSUED A RECALL WHICH IS WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE. THE CORE ISSUE IS THAT THESE RATHER LARGE FULL SIZE SUV'S AND PICKUP TRUCKS WERE DESIGNED INITIALLY WITH FRONT BRAKES THAT WERE SEVERELY UNDERSIZED FOR THE WEIGHT/SIZE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS LED TO THE VEHICLES ROTORS EASILY OVERHEATING AND GLAZING THE BRAKE PADS WHICH THEN LED TO HOT SPOTTED, WARPED, OR OTHERWISE RUINED FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. ANOTHER SYMPTOM (THAT I BELIEVE IT CAUSED AND THE MOST DANGEROUS PART) IS THAT ESPECIALLY IN THE WARMER MONTHS THE OVERHEATING OF THE ROTORS WOULD CAUSE THE ANTI LOCK FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM SENSORS (LOCATED WITHIN THE FRONT WHEEL HUB) TO TRIGGER (FALSE POSITIVE) RANDOMLY AND YOU WOULD DANGEROUSLY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLES ABILITY TO BRAKE (AND STEER) SAFELY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED, THE ABS SENSOR ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS A LOUD SPRINGING SOUND INTERMITTENTLY COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN CLEARED THE COMPUTER FOR THE VDC CODE, REPLACED THE BALL BEARINGS AND THE DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT IN ORDER TO RESET THE ABS SENSOR AND THE VDC SENSOR TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE INSPECTED, DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. APPLIED BRAKES , BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON ABS STOPPED WORKING, BRAKES GROAN. THEY WORK AT 10 %. PLEASE SEE YOUTUBE ENTER ARMADA BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. THERE ARE 100'S OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. ONCE YOU SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT THE ABS RESETS UNTIL THE NEXT OCCURRENCE. I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WITH A STOP LIGHT WHAT WAS RED. THERE WERE 4 CARS AHEAD OF ME. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, MY FEET ALSO HIT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND ALSO PUSHED IT INTO ANOTHER CAR RESULTING IN A MULTI CAR ACCIDENT. MY CAR SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE BUT TWO OF THE OTHER CARS HAD SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS OCCURRED TO ME WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE OTHER TIME WAS A SIMILAR SITUATION WHERE I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. IN BOTH INCIDENTS, I WAS WEARING WESTERN STYLE BOOTS. CAR INVOLVED IS A 2004 NISSAN ARMADA. I WAS PULLING UP IN FRONT OF MY SON'S FRIEND'S HOUSE TO DROP HIM OFF. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND I WAS ALMOST STOPPED WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD AND HIT A CHEVY TRUCK THAT WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. IT LUNGED FORWARD WITH SUCH FORCE IT PUSHED THE TRUCK FORWARD ABOUT 4 FEET AND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE ENDED UP ON THE CURB. THERE IS A LOT OF DAMAGE TO BOTH CARS. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT WITHIN A 3 MONTH TIME PERIOD. ON 1/8/13 WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING GARAGE THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND SHE CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. HE STATED THAT IT FEELS AS IF THE ABS IS ENGAGING AND THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 20% OF ITS BRAKING POWER. THE CONTACT HAS AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. THIS WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE NISSAN SERVICE DEPT IN HENDERSON NEVADA WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW AND WITH EVERY VEHICLE SERVICE OR REPAIR SINCE - MOST RECENTLY IN JUNE 2011. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD IT WAS NORMAL DUE THE TYPE OF FUEL INDICATOR. NOW I SEE THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER NISSAN ARMADAS BUT DIFFERENT YEARS AND ON OTHER NISSAN MODELS. BRAKE FAILURE ON 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA: THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS FROM CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENTS DUE TO FAILURE OF ABS SYSTEM. THEY HAVE A TSB NTB-060 OUT AND DEALER WOULD RE-FLASH THE ABS SYSTEM TO FIX THE ISSUE FOR AN HOUR LABOR CHARGE. The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Armada. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 10E019000 (Suspension) and 10V517000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repairs; however, the dealer only completed the recall repair for 10V517000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the collar weld of the vehicle was separating. The contact also stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer - Jim Bone Nissan (1275 Santa Rosa Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95404) who advised the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the repair because the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 205,000.

THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS SUDDENLY STOP WORKING. THEY WERE WORKING TODAY DURING THE DAYTIME AND I HAD THEM ON. AS IT GOT DARK THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON. I TURNED THE LIGHT SWITCH ON AND OFF TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE ON. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF AGAIN BUT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. THE HIGH BEAMS WORKED SO I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THOSE ON (EXCEPT EVERYONE KEPT FLASHING ME ON THE WAY HOME). I STOPPED AT AUTOZONE TO GET A NEW FUSE AND RELAY FUSE. THAT DID NOT WORK. WHEN I GOT HOME I PULLED ALL THE FUSES AND THEN PUT THEM BACK IN. CAR SAID NO KEY FOB BUT I DID HAVE IT. I LOCKED AND UNLOCKED THE CAR WITH THE KEY FOB THEN TURNED ON THE CAR AND THE LIGHTS STARTED WORKING AGAIN. ON JUNE 6, 2012, WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP AND THE PEDAL HIT THE FLOOR, THERE WAS LITTLE OR NO RESISTANCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I HEARD CRUNCHING, METAL ON METAL SOUND. ALSO, THE VDC OFF, SLIP AND ABS LIGHTS WERE ON. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND ON TO RESET IT, AND IT WORKED, HOWEVER, I BEGAN TO TRAVEL A FEW MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WENT TO A LOCAL SERVICE STATION AND CODE C1179 DELTA STROKE SENSOR POPPED UP. THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE TRUCK AND IT RAN WELL WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK WAS FINE UNTIL JUNE 13, 2012, WHILE LEAVING THE SUPERMARKET IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS TRAVELING NO MORE THAN 10 MPH AND THE BRAKES FAILED. I TRIED TO RESET IT AS I DID BEFORE, HOWEVER THIS TIME IT DIDN'T WORK. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESET. ONCE IT WAS RESET, I BEGAN TO DRIVE HOME AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SO AGAIN, I PULLED OVER TO RESET IT AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT WORKED. I JUST HAD IT SERVICED TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT CRASH ZONE AIRBAG SENSOR BEING THAT IT IS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT RADIATOR GRILL ENDS UP RUSTING OUT FROM THE ELEMENTS OF OUR WEATHER. THEREFORE IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEREFORE IT WAS BILLABLE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I CAME ACROSS A NISSAN RECALL FROM JANUARY 2009. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # IS 08V690000. THIS RECALL WAS FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CRASH ZONE SENSOR RUSTING OUT FROM SNOW/SALT IN THE NORTHERN US STATES BUT WAS ONLY LIMITED TO 2005-2009 PATHFINDERS, FRONTIERS AND XTERRA VEHICLES. TODAY, MY FAMILY & I ALMOST BOUGHT THE FARM WHEN THE BRAKES WENT OUT ON A FREEWAY OFF RAMP ON OUR WAY BACK FROM PHOENIX. WE EXITED THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP AT THE LIGHT. THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD SCRAPING NOISE, WERE NON-FUNCTIONAL AND WE WERE APPROACHING CROSS TRAFFIC AT 60 - 70 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY DROPPED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, STARTED TO APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE AND HEADED FOR THE DIRT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, FIGURING I WOULD RATHER HIT A TREE OR FENCE THAN T-BONE A VEHICLE IN THE CROSS TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY RUBBING THE PASSENGER TIRES ON THE CURB TO CREATE FRICTION TO STOP. THE VEHICLE MILEAGE TODAY IS 61,707. THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AS WE HAD TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF & APPARENTLY WHEN RESTARTED, IT REBOOTED A SENSOR THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. (INFO FROM NISSAN DEALER). THIS IS THE 3RD TIME IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND SOMEONE WILL END UP DEAD DUE TO THIS PROBLEM IF NISSAN DOES NOT FIX IT. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES WITHIN A YEARS TIME. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM WAS A MALFUNCTIONING SENSOR IN THE MASTER CYLINDER OR THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY, GOING APPROX. 45 MPH THE BRAKES ON MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA COMPLETELY WENT OUT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, MY BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND THEY WOULD REPLACE IT TO THE TUNE OF $1300. IT IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING REPAIRED. I REPORTED THIS TO NISSAN HQ ON 5/6/2010 AS WELL. THE ER/PARK BRAKE CABLE WRAPPED AROUND AXEL BRING THE ARMADA TO A INSTANT STOP FROM 55 MILES PER HOUR. THE FORCE BROKE THE AXEL AND DISLODGED THE DIFFERENTIAL. POLICE WHO RESPONDED STATED IT WAS A MIRACLE I WAS ABLE TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING HEAD OR END OR TO THE SIDE WHEN THE AXEL SNAPPED. THREE MONTHS AGO, THE DIFFERENTIAL IN MY 2004 NISSAN ARMADA NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SAID THAT BOLTS WERE MISSING FROM THE AXLE AND HE WAS VERY PERPLEXED AS TO WHY THAT WOULD BE. THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPAIRED BUT 3 MONTHS LATER THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE DIDN'T WORK AND THE AXLE HAD TO BE REPLACED. 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA WITH NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. CUSTOMER STATES THE VEHICLE HAS HAD SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS WASHER TANK/MOTOR/LEVEL SENSOR, ELECTRICAL WORKED AFTER KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, AND IT HAD BRAKE FAILURE. *KB THE TIRES WERE WEARING UNEVENLY. THERE WAS A WATER LEAK COMING FROM THE PASSENGER FRONT FLOOR BOARD. THE DEALER INSTALLED A HOSE TO THE AC DRAIN. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED DUE TO THEM BEING WARPED AND THE REAR ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. THE PASSENGER WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL UP, DUE TO IT BEING OFF TRACK. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. THE CONSUMER REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, BUT THE WIPERS, HORN ,HEADLIGHTS AND OTHER ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS KEPT ON WORKING. CONTINUOUS BRAKE SHUDDER VIBRATES THRU STEERING WHEEL. SEATS SQUEEK. FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T MOVE TO THE FULL MARK WHEN FUEL NOZZLE SHUTS OFF. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME FOR THE BRAKE PROBLEM AND THE THIRD TIME FOR THE FUEL GAUGE. THEY REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACE THE ROTORS AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY ALL THESE PROBLEMS IN LESS THAN A YEAR FOR MY 2004 ARMADA. PURCHASED IN 11/2003, AND IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR CREAKING IN THE UNI-BODY, AND A HARMONIC HUM WHEN THE DEFROST WAS ON, ALONG WITH HAVING VISORS REPLACED. THEN WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD AFTER THAT THE TRUCK REACHED 3000 MILES AND WITH EVERY 3000 MILES THE BREAKS BEGIN TO PULSATE AND CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE MAKING DRIVING DIFFICULT. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS BROUGHT IN TO THE DEALERS FOR THIS THE ROTORS WERE TURNED AND THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED. ON THE NEXT VISIT, THE DEALERSHIP PUT ON A SO CALLED REPAIR KIT, WHICH WAS REPLACING THE ROTORS AND CHANGING THE PADS WITH AFTERMARKET PADS. AND THEN WHEN IT CAME TO THE THIRD TIME...I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD DO A QUICK FIX AND SUPPOSEDLY A REPLACEMENT KIT WAS IN THE WORKS. AFTER BRINGING MY VEHICLE DOWN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, AND THE QUICK FIX I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT NISSAN SAID, NOT TO DO THE QUICK FIX, SINCE THE REPLACEMENT KIT IS AVAILABLE FOR ORDERING SOON. I HAD TO EXPLAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE PULSATING WAS SO BAD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER A VIVID DISCUSSION WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER THE VEHICLE WAS GIVEN THE QUICK FIX. MY 2004 NISSAN PATHFINDER ARMADA IS IN SERIOUS NEED OF A LARGER BRAKING SYSTEM. AFTER ONLY 5500 MILES OF MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING MY NISSAN DEVELOPED A FRONT BRAKE SHUDDER INDICATING THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. I TOOK IT TO THE BROWN & BROWN DEALER IN MESA, AZ WHERE I BOUGHT IT. THEY SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND ASSURED ME IT WOULD BE FIXED. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS WITH MY TRUCK SUCHAS, BUBBLES IN THE WINDSHIELD A LEAKY SUNROOF THAT SHUDDERS WHEN CLOSING, THE DIMMER SWITCH FOR THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WASN'T EVEN CONNECTED. I FOUND A LOOSE BOLT ON THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION OF WHERE IT BELONGS. I GUESS I'LL FIND OUT LATER. THE AUTO ROLL-UP FEATURE FOR THE FRONT WINDOWS IS FAULTY. I PURCHASED A NISSAN ARMADA IN APRIL 2004 AND TWO MONTHS LATER HAD TO BRING IT TO DEALER FOR REPAIR AS THE BRAKES WERE SHUDDERING CAUSING TREMENDOUS SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALERSHIP, NISSAN THOUSAND OAKS, DID NOT REPLACE THE "WARPED ROTORS", INSTEAD "SWITCHING" THEM AROUND AND REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS. THE ADDITIONAL PROBLEM OF A RATTLE AND SQUEAKING SOUND FROM DASHBOARD RESULTED IN THE DEALERSHIP REALIGNING THE DASHBOARD PROPERLY. TWO MONTHS LATER I WAS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE BRAKES AGAIN. THIS TIME I DEMANDED THAT THE INFERIOR ROTORS BE REPLACED WITH HIGHER-QUALITY ROTORS. THEY REPLACED THE FACTORY-INSTALLED ROTORS WITH NEW ROTORS (TOLD BETTER QUALITY ROTORS) AND THEY ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AGAIN. ADDITIONALLY, THERE I WAS EXPERIENCING AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE A/C; IT WOULD SOMETIMES RUN VERY HOT AIR. THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND THAT THE CLUTCH FAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; THIS PART IS ON ORDER AND I WILL HAVE TO RETURN FOR INSTALLATION. ALSO, I ASKED THEM TO ONCE AGAIN FIX A SQUEAKING AND RATTLING ISSUE THAT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD AGAIN AND ALSO INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF THE STEREO CONTROLS LOCATED ON THE STEERING WHEEL. ACCORDING TO THEIR MECHANICS, THE SOUND PROBLEM AND STEREO CONTROLS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION. A WEEK LATER, AUGUST 12, 2004, I HAD TO RETURN TO HAVE THE CLUTCH FAN REPLACED AND THIS TIME I ALSO REQUESTED THAT ONE OF THEIR MECHANICS DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH ME SO THAT I COULD POINT OUT THE SQUEAKING ISSUE. THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL KEPT ON VEERING TO THE RIGHT WHILE VEHICLE IN OCCUPYING AND GOT WORSE AT BRAKING. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL FIRMLY AND VEER IT TO THE LEFT IN ORDER TO KEEP THE VEHICLE RUNNING STRAIGHT. THIS WILL CAUSE HUNDRED OF DOLLARS TO FIX AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PEOPLE WHO DRIVING IT. THE DEALER SAID THIS IS NORMAL CROWN DRIFT AND DON'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAD CONTACTED NISSAN MANUFACTURE CONCERN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN ADDRESSED ALL VEHICLES ARE SUPPOSED TO SLIGHTLY VEER TO THE RIGHT WHEN YOUR HAND IS REMOVED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL.
