I have a 2005 Nissan Armada that has a known problem with its brakes. It has a faulty Delta Brake Sensor and Brake Booster. What happens is that the brake light comeson, the vehicle losses its braking ability and sounds like metal scraping when you apply the brakes. The issue will reset if you turn off the car. Nissan knows about this issue but has failed to send 2004-2006 Armada owners of information on how to get this fixed at a local dealer. I was never notified by Nissan of this faulty part and did not know that Nissan would reimburse me for the repair. The settlement date is now closed but the problem still exists in many Nissan affected vehicles. I called Nissan USA and they said Nissan could do nothing for me. I called my local Nissan dealer and described the problem and they said they could do nothing for me but that I could pay out of pocket to have the brake booster replaced at qa cost of $1500f or parts and labor. The error code associated with this problem is C1179. This issue is a safety issue and it affects the vehicles ability to stop. If you do not see the brake warning light on you do not know that the issue is happening. This could result in a dangerous situation at highway speeds. I would like the NHTSA to get involved and to demand that Nissan repair this known problem free of charge. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND THE CONTACT FELT THE VEHICLE SLIDE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE MAKING TURNS, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND MADE THE STEERING WHEEL DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT STATED THE ABS, THE AIR BAGS, AND THE VDC OFF WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,151.

THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE CONTROL PANEL COMES ON AND WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKES, THE CAR HARDLY BRAKES. IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE GRINDING AND SKIDDING. I HAVE TO CAREFULLY PULL THE CAR OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. LATELY THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING AROUND ONCE A WEEK.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY AND IT MADE A LOUD SOUND I COASTED TO A STOP TURNED CAR OFF. CALLED MECHANIC THEY CAME OUT AND I HAD A BLOWN FUSE FOR MY ABS SYSTEM THEY REPLACED IT BUT NOW I AM WONDERING IF THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN?

DRIVING IN TRAFFIC CAUSES BRAKES TO LOCK AS IF THE PARKING BRAKES WERE SET. I HAVE TO PULL OVER SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK, PRESS ON THE PARKING FOOT BRAKE TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE THE BRAKES, TURN OFF AND ON THE VEHICLE TO "RESET" THE BRAKES. IT HAPPENED A FEW TIMES ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY. IN ALL MULTIPLE OCCASIONS NEARLY REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE MY FAMILY WITH ME IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON, ON THE DASH. HAPPENS ON BOTH THE FREEWAY AND THE CITY STREETS IN MOTION AND ONCE WHEN THE BRAKES WAS PRESS IN TRAFFIC.

DRIVING HOME ABOUT 45 MPH, THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I SLOWED DOWN FOR THE UPCOMING RED LIGHT BUT THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK, THEY WENT INTO ABS MODE SO I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE PEDAL, RE-APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKES STARTED PULSING AND GRINDING VIOLENTLY. I COULD NOT STOP FOR THE RED LIGHT SO I DROPPED IT DOWN INTO 4TH GEAR AND MADE A HARD RIGHT TURN ABOUT 25 MPH. THANKFULLY THERE WAS LITTLE TRAFFIC SO NO ACCIDENT AND NO ONE WAS HURT. I DROVE THE REMAINING TWO MILES HOMES AT 25 MPH AND WITHOUT USING THE BRAKES UNTIL I GOT TO MY DRIVEWAY. I APPLIED VERY LIGHT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND LITTLE NOISE BUT NOT MUCH STOPPING POWER, THANKFULLY MY DRIVEWAY IS UPHILL. I WAS DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND I COULDN'T. THE BRAKES STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE AND THE E-BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. IT SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH FOR ME TO PULL TO THE SIDE AND FINALLY ABLE TO MAKE A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON A DRY ROAD SURFACE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE ROTORS WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED, BUT THEY DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE ACTUAL FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES AND WAS NEVER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

SAME ISSUE EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING SPONGY BRAKES WHEN PRESSED NOT STOPPING, LOUD GRINDING NOISE, MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. CAN NHTSA HELP OUT THE LITTLE GUY FOR A CHANGE AND ORDER A RECALL FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE AT HAND WITH ALL NISSAN ARMADAS BREAKING SYSTEMS. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUES BUT DOES NOT WANT TO FIX ITS PROBLEM. I GUESS IT TAKES A DEATH TO HAVE THEM LISTEN. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED. THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK ONCE IT GETS DOWN TO 1/4 OF THE TANK LEFT. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON A CITY STREET WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY STEER OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON BECAUSE MY FUEL GAUGE SAID I STILL HAD 1/4 TANK LEFT OF GAS. THIS COULD'VE BEEN FAR MORE DANGEROUS IF I WOULD'VE RUN OUT OF GAS ON A FREEWAY OR HIGHWAY. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS YEAR AND MODEL FOR THE FUEL GAUGE INACCURACY, BUT WHEN I CALLED THEY SAID MY VIN DIDN'T MATCH THE RECALL.

THE FUEL GAGE GETS TO ONE QUARTER AND IT STARTS TO BE INACCURATE AND WILL RUN OUT OF GAS SHOWING ONE QUARTER TANK. THE FUEL GAGE WILL NOT WORK RIGHT UNTIL YOU HAVE OVER THREE QUARTERS IN. I GOT SO LOW ON FUEL THE LIGHT WAS ON THREE DAYS AGO. I PUT A FEW GALLONS IN WHEN I GOT TO TOWN IT SHOWER THERE WAS 1/8 OF A TANK BY THE TIME I GOT HOME IT WAS SHOWING A LITTLE OVER 1/4 WERE IT WAS WHEN IT RAN OUT OF GAS 1 1/2 YEARS AGO. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD TO GO TO TOWN AND IT SHOWED I HAD ALMOST HALF A TANK BY THE TIME I GOT THERE. I'VE PUT ABOUT 7 GALLONS IN IT AND THE FUEL GAGE IS AT THE SAME PLACE. WHEN I FILLED THE TANK UP THE FUEL GAGE STARTED WORKING PROBABLY. I'VE LOOKED AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON SOME NISSAN ARMADA ALREADY BUT THIS ONE ISN'T ON THE LIST

I HAVE BEEN TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE LOUD EXHAUST NOISE AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF REPORTS OF THIS EXACT PROBLEM ONLINE. I HAVE JUST FAILED MY STATE SAFETY INSPECTION IN MISSOURI AND FOUND OUT THAT THE LOUD NOISE WAS BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER DEFECT ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. BOTH ARE BROKEN IN THE SAME PLACE. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING A QUARTER OF A TANK FUEL LEVEL. I CALLED NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID IT MAY BE FUEL SENDING UNIT. PUT ABOUT 4 GALLONS OF GAS IN GAS TANK AND ENGINE STARTED, BUT STILL SHOWED QUARTER OF A TANK ON FUEL GAUGE. THE FUEL TANK WAS EVIDENTLY EMPTY EVEN THOUGH GAUGE WAS SHOWING IT HAD FUEL IN TANK. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY. I GOT THIS VEHICLE AROUND DEC 2013. I HAD THEM FIX THE AIR BAG LIGHT BECAUSE IT IS GOING ON AND OFF. DEALERSHIP IS HUDSON NISSAN. FIXED THE HARNESS. AUGUST 2014, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM FIXED THRU FREEHOLD NISSAN. NOW, JULY 2015, I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN BUT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY. I ASKED NISSAN CORPORATE TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER AND IF THEY CAN FIX IT FOR ME WITHOUT ANY FEE BECAUSE I FELT THIS IS NOT A MOVING PART AND THE PROBLEM IS PERSISTENT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF THE AIR BAG WILL ENGAGE UPON AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN CORPORATE DECLINED TO FIX IT FOR FREE. WARNING LIGHT FOR AIRBAGS STARTED BLINKING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN COLLEGE STATION TX. THE DEALER RAN A COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC. WAS TOLD THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WOULD NOT ACTIVATE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM, THE "HARNESS" FROM THE AIRBAG TO THE COMPUTER CONTROLLER HAD TO BE REPLACE FOR $500+. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED A "NUMBER" OF THESE AIRBAG HARNESSES. I HAVE NOT YET REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that the fuel gauge inaccurately displayed the fuel level in the tank while the fuel tank was empty; causing the vehicle to stall. The contact refueled the vehicle and was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, MY ARMADA ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND OTHERS CAME ON! I WAS TERRIFIED AS I FLOATED THRU TRAFFIC TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT! I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND COULD ONLY SWERVE ACROSS FAST LANE TO GET NEAR THE FREEWAY DIVIDER AND OUT OF TRAFFIC! LET'S JUST SAY I GOT OVER RIGHT IN THE NICK OF TIME! THE TRUCK DIED OUT COMPLETELY! FUEL GAUGE SHOWED I HAD ABOUT 1/4 TANK OF GAS SO I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY ENGINE. I HAD JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 4 DAYS PRIOR (NO WARRANTY) SO I WAS REALLY UNSURE OF WHAT WAS GOING ON! WHEN MY 2005 ARMADA BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON I PRESSED THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE THAT ALSO SOUNDED LIKE A SPRING. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED MY ARMADA AND THE BRAKE LIGHT AND NOISE WENT AWAY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SO THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER, AGAIN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEY SAID NEXT TIME THE ISSUE COMES UP DO NOT TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN TEST IT WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT ON. I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND A CAR UNEXPECTEDLY PUT ON THE BRAKES IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO HIT MINE SUDDENLY. MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND MAKE A SOUND LIKE TIN CANS GETTING CRUSHED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO DO THIS UNTIL I GOT TO MY DESTINATION. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. MY BRAKES WOULDN'T STOP CORRECTLY AND I WAS SCARED I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STOP. I HAD MY HUSBAND LEAVE HIS JOB AN HOUR AWAY AND COME GET ME. HE DROVE IT TO THE CLOSEST BRAKE SHOP. THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY ISSUES SUCH AS PADS, FLUID, ETC AND IT WASN'T SYMPTOMATIC. WHEN TURNING OFF THE CAR AND BACK ON, IT CLEARED UP. THE BRAKE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN APPROX 1 1/2 WEEK LATER AND ON A SATURDAY, THEN ON THE SUN. I WAS NOT AT HOME AT THE TIME. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MY ARMADA HAD THIS ISSUE WITH 1000'S OF OWNERS OF THIS MODEL. THERE IS EVEN SERVICE TECH BULLETINS. THE CODE CLEARS AND WILL FIX TEMPORARILY WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I CAN EASILY LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT B/C THE BRAKES WILL NOT STOP LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND IT WILL COST 810.00. THEY SAID NISSAN WILL NOT COVER IT SINCE IT IS NOT RECALLED. I STARTED HAVING SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES WITH MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ARMADA BECAME DIFFICULT TO BRAKE. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. ON MARCH 7, 2008, I DROVE FROM CLEVELAND, OH TO COLUMBUS, OH. THE ROADS WERE SLIGHTLY SNOW COVERED BUT SLIPPERY AND I HAD EITHER THE AUTOMATIC OR FULL-TIME 4WD ENGAGED DURING THE 120 MILE TRIP. I PURCHASED A USED 2005 NISSAN ARMADA ON MAY 22, 2006 WITH A MILEAGE OF 34,399 MILES. AS YOU CAN SEE I HAVEN'T HAD IT FOR A 2 FULL MONTHS YET, AND ALREADY IT HAS FAILED ME. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AFTER WORKING 16 HOURS. I STOPPED IN A RECORD SHOP TO PURCHASE SOME MUSIC CD'S, IT HAD ONLY BEEN ABOUT 15 MINUTES THAT THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF. WHEN I PROCEEDED BACK TO MY VEHICLE TO START IT BACK UP, IT WOULDN'T START. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE FREEWAY MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA STALLED. THE ELECTRICAL WAS STILL FUNCTIONAL. WE HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS DIFFICULT AS WE ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. PRIOR TO THIS, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS FLASHING. I HAVE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS SYSTEM ON MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES. THE BRAKES BEGIN TO GROAN, ARE SPONGY, HAVE REDUCED BRAKING POWER, AND MAKE A SOUND LIKE A LARGE SPRING BEING RELEASED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES THESE SYMPTOMS UNTIL THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF. THE SPEED AT WHICH THE EVENT OCCURS VARIES FROM 5 TO 50MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED AN AVERAGE OF ONCE EVERY 3 MOTHS SINCE MAY 2009. IF THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN THE SYSTEM RESETS AND PERFORMS NORMALLY. EACH TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NO PROBLEM CODES COULD BE FOUND AND THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHILE THE MALFUNCTION WAS OCCURRING AND TAKE A TEST DRIVE WITH A TECHNICIAN. HIS FIRST WORDS UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE WERE ?SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE THE ABS ACTING UP.? HE THEN CHECKED FOR CODES AND FOUND C1179. THE TECHNICIAN REPROGRAMMED THE ABS UNDER NTB06-040 PROGRAM. ONE WEEK LATER THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERY 2 TO 3 WEEKS SINCE. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE END OF 3/05. W/IN DAYS WE NOTICED A "SHIMMY" IN THE STEERING AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT SPEEDS OF 50+. STEERING WOULD VEER TO THE LEFT AND WHEEL WOULD JERK TO SIDE WHEN ENCOUNTERING SLIGHT BUMPS IN THE ROAD. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE CAR WOULD VIBRATE & SHUDDER AND WAS EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL (AT ANY SPEED). IT TOOK MORE PRESSURE THAN USUAL TO GET CAR TO STOP. THE MOST FRIGHTENING PART WAS THAT THE CAR WAS ESPECIALLY HARD TO CONTROL IN RAINY CONDITIONS. WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF BETWEEN 25-35 MPH, IN A MODERATE RAINFALL, THE CAR HYDROPLANED ON 5 OCCASSIONS WITHIN A DISTANCE OF APPROX. 60 MILES. ALSO, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK, I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY TIRE PRESSURE CHECKED. IT WAS FINE AND THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR THE LIGHT APPEARING. I WAS OUT OF STATE AT THE TIME & THEY SUGGESTED I BRING IT INTO MY DEALERSHIP. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED, WHICH IS WHAT I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY BALANCED MY TIRES AND TOLD ME THIS WAS WHY MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS GOING ON. AFTER THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, I WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AND THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM . I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY WERE WAITING FOR THE PARTS TO ARRIVE, BUT HAD NO IDEA WHEN THIS WOULD BE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM FEARFUL OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND RECEIVED NO SATISFACTION. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND I AM FURIOUS THAT I CANNOT GET THE MANUFACTURER TO COMMIT TO A DATE THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THESE BRAKES. NISSAN N.A. REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE & MY DIFFICULTIES HANDLING THE VEHICLE IN ADVERSE CONDITIONS WAS "EXTERNAL". THE CAR IS HARD TO HANDLE IN THE BEST OF CONDITIONS. IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THAT THE MORE DIFFICULT THE DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE HARDER THIS VEHICLE WOULD BE TO CONTROL.

I AM LEASING A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. CURRENTLY THERE ARE 3300 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND I ALREADY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 2 FOR BRAKE ISSUES. THERE IS A VERY A HARD BRAKE JUDDER ONCE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED WITH THE TRUCK GOING OVER 20 MILES PER HOUR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AT 1900 MILES AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL AND THEY WILL REPAIR IT WHEN I TAKE THE TRUCK IN FOR MAINTENANCE AT 3500 MILES. NOW I TOOK IT IN FOR MAINTENANCE WHEN THE PROBLEM IS WORSE AND THEY ARE SAYING THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO FIX THE TRUCK SINCE NISSAN HAS NOT SEND THEM. SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN EXCELLENT AND TRIED TO HELP WITH ALL MY QUESTIONS BUT IT DOESN OT LOOK LIKE IT IS UP TO THEM ANYMORE. THE TRUCK IS ALMOST IN THE UN-DRIVABLE CONDITION.

I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA. I WAS DRIVING AND STARTING TO BRAKE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT OF MY ARMADA. I ALMOST LOST BRAKING CAPABILITY. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE LOUD NOISE AND LIMITED BRAKING ABILITY. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND THE PROBLEM WAS GONE FOR THAT MOMENT. A FEW WEEKS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, SO I TOOK IT INTO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A CODE ERROR AND IT HAD BEEN RESET (IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEN). My breaking system has a malfunction that comes on and off. Sometimes the brakes automatically stop working and start grinding as if I have no brakes, but when I brought it to be looked at they couldn't find the problem. I notice that when you turn the car off and turn it back on the problems of sides for a little while will eventually come back later. For someone to detect it, they cannot shut the car off at the time that is presenting itself.

I HAVE TO RESET THE SYSTEM BY SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND TURNING IT BACK ON. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY BECAUSE OF IT AND NO INDICATION OTHER THAN THE NOISE THAT IT WAS HAPPENING. ALSO, WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF. I AND HASN'T FOR OVER 5 YEARS. THE DRIVER SIDE AND/OR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS ALSO DO NOT GET RECOGNIZED AS BEING USED SINCE THE FLASH INDICATOR ON THE DASH KEEPS FLASHING. WHEN I TOOK T IN TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS BUT IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 110000 MILES ON IT AND HAD LESS THAN 80000 WHEN THESE ISSUES STARTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.

NISSAN STATES THERE ARE NO RECALLS OPEN FOR THIS VIN ALTHOUGH NETS STATES THIS MAKE MODEL AND YEAR HAS A RECALL OUT FOR THE THE FUEL GAUGE. MY GAS TANK INCORRECTLY READS THE GAS WHICH CAUSED ME TO STALL ON THE HIGHWAY! I CAN DRIVE AROUND ALL DAY AND WILL STILL SHOW ITS FULL. ENGINE IS ALSO VERY LOUD DURING ACCELERATION AND OVERHEATS THE CAR. PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WILL ALSO NOT TURN OFF, NOT SURE IF THIS IS A RECALL, BUT CAR INDICATES NO PASSENGER IS SITTING WHEN THERE IS AND SHOWS THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY OF A CRASH HAPPENS.

PURCHASED VEHICLE USED IN MAY 2015, MY TRUSTED MECHANIC CHECKED IT OUT SEPTEMBER 2015 AND REPORTED BACK IT WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO ISSUES. JULY 2016 EXPERIENCED BREAK FAILURE AT 15 MILES AN HOUR. AGAIN MY MECHANIC TROUBLESHOOTED THE ISSUES AND SAID THE POWER BREAK BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE THEN REFERRED ME TO NISSAN FOR POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I SPOKE WITH CORPORATE NISSAN WHO ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO PROVE THE ISSUE EXISTED, FOR ANY POTENTIAL COMPENSATION. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN THEY CONCLUDED REPROGRAMMING THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR WOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM; WHICH I HAD TO PAY $300 TO HAVE THIS DONE. ON OCTOBER 2016 INOPERABLE BREAK FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN AT 65 MILES AN HOUR WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE, AS I WAS APPROACHING AN EXIT RAMP. THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRED TWICE IN ONE DAY, JUST A WEEK LATER. ONCE AS I LEFT WORK GOING 40 MILES AN HOUR, MY DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH VDC AND SKID LIGHTS, IN ADDITION TO MY BREAK FAILURE LIGHT. THE SECOND TIME OCCURRED GOING DOWN A CITY STREET WHERE I HAD TO DO A ROLLING STOP THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, DODGING ONCOMING TRAFFIC, EVENTUALLY HITTING A CURB TO STOP. AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE BACK TO NISSAN FOR THEM TO TEST DRIVE (RECREATE) THE PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE OFF THE LOT DUE TO SAFETY HAZARDS. I HAVE SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH CORPORATE TO RESOLVE THIS SAFETY ISSUE; BUT YET NISSAN REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM, OR REFUND ME MY MONEY FOR THE FAILED REPROGRAMMING. THIS VEHICLE IS GEARED TOWARDS FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN; AND BOTH MY CHILDREN WERE PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE DURING ALL FAILURES. AFTER SEARCHING THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION WEBSITE, I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF DOCUMENTED CASES REVOLVING AROUND THE SAME SAFETY HAZARD. NISSAN REFUSES TO RECALL THIS PART OR NOTIFY OWNERS OF THE EXISTING ISSUE.

MY BRAKES FAILED TWICE IN MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA W/55K MILES. THE FIRST TIME, MY BRAKES FAILED TO STOP ME AT AN INTERSECTION, WITH A NEAR MISS COLLISION. I CALLED NISSAN TO LET THEM KNOW THE COST & ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE SINCE IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART. I WAS INFORMED TO NOT PICK UP MY VEHICLE UNTIL I HEARD FROM THEM. I HAD RENTED A CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP. NISSAN TOOK 5 DAYS TO RESPOND & CALLED AT 5:30PM TO SAY SORRY WE DECIDED NOT TO HELP. I HAVE HAD A BRAKING PROBLEM WITH MY NISSAN ARMADA FOR YEARS & YEARS. WHEN DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH WILL COME ON & WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES IT WILL MAKE A GRINDING NOISE & BARELY STOP. YESTERDAY, WHILE I WAS DRIVING 68 MPH IN THE FAST LANE ON THE FREEWAY THE BRAKE LIGHT, VDC LIGHT & SLIP LIGHT RANDOMLY CAME ON THE DASH, I HAD NOT APPLIED THE BRAKES. I HAVE INCLUDED A PICTURE OF MY DASH YESTERDAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I KNEW FROM EXPERIENCE THAT I NOW HAD COMPROMISED BRAKING SO I QUICKLY PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT & GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AT THE FIRST EXIT. MY CAR SLOWLY GROUND TO A STOP. I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA AND THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN GIVING ME PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT THE SUV. INITIALLY IT WAS ONLY WARPED ROTORS AND EXCESSIVE BRAKE PAD WEAR, BUT NOW THE BRAKES HAVE NEARLY FAILED ON ME THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY BUT THE ELECTRICAL PARTS WERE STILL FUNCTIONING. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING AT A TIME WHEN THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAITED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND TRIED TO RE-START THE VEHICLE HOPING THAT I COULD AT LEAST GET HOME. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE DID START BUT STALLED AND SHUT DOWN AGAIN A FEW BLOCKS FROM HOME WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 35MPH. AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO RE-START IT WITH NO SUCCESS. AT THIS POINT I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE IPDM AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE VEHICLE. I PICKED IT UP AND AFTER DRIVING ONLY 10 MILES, IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY CAME BACK SAYING THAT NOW THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE IPDM AND CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE ARMADA. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A RECALL SHOULD BE IN PLACE FOR THIS. I CAN ONLY THANK GOD FOR HELPING ME TO STAY CALM WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTDOWN AND THAT NEITHER MY KIDS OR I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. DRIVE MY NISSAN ARMADA ON 12/7/08 AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WITH THE FLASHING SRS LIGHT. I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT'S THE SENSOR AND THAT IT WOULD BE $385 TO FIX AND IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY AS IT'S AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT. SO I DO SOME RESEARCH AND SEE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH 2005 ARMADAS (WHICH MINE IS AN 05) AND THAT THERE IS A VOLUNTARY SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED WHICH STATES THAT THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND THAT SOME DEALERSHIPS ARE FIXING AT THEIR DISCRETION FREE OF CHARGE. MY 2005 NISSAN ARMADA'S AIR BAG SRS SYSTEM IS INOPERABLE. THE DASHBOARD LIGHT INDICATED A FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND I THOUGHT IT WAS REPAIRED AFTER SEVERAL INSTANCES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS TO HAVE THE SRS SYSTEM REPAIRED. NISSAN CLAIMED IT HAS BEEN EVERYTHING FROM THE SEATBELT TENSIONERS, SENSOR MODULES UNDER THE SEATS TO BAD ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT MY DASH LIGHTS SHOW I STILL HAVE INOPERATIVE AIRBAGS. THE SRS SYSTEM ON MY ARMADA IS CURRENTLY IN FAILURE AGAIN AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY NISSAN AGAIN TO ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE A SECOND ISSUE WITH THE ABS BRAKES ACTIVATING RANDOMLY DURING NORMAL SLOW SPEED STOPS IN WHICH THE BRAKES SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND WITH LITTLE STOPPING FORCE. IT SEEMS THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING UNDER LIGHT OPERATIONAL CONDITIONS. THIS HAS BEEN A RE-OCCURRING PROBLEM EACH SUMMER. PRIOR TO THE ISSUE OF THE AIR BAG LIGHT THE BRAKING SYSTEM APPEARS TO BE INTERMITTENT IN STOPPING THE SUV, WHICH IS ALSO FELT IN THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE BRAKING. I HAVE ADDRESSED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. THIS ALL MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED BUT THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE SAFETY OF DRIVING. THE CONTACT ROTATED THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TIRES AT 16,000 MILES AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE INSIDE TREAD WAS WORN. I got this vehicle from a buy here pay here with 355,xxx miles the motor runs and drives great but when I went to go down the interstate after a month having the vehicle it was shaking really bad so I called auto parts and autozone and even took it to a mechanic they all told me alignment and if that doesn't work them put new rotors and breaks and we'll it's still there and if you go 35 you can hear something rubbing and when you hit 60 it starts shaking really bad and the steering wheel is very hard to hold when this happens so still don't know what it is!

The contact owned a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, his steering wheel was locked without warning. Due to the failure, the contact veered off the road and hit two parked vehicles. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact stated that a little girl was standing near one of the parked vehicles and was knocked into a tree and was airlifted to a child trauma center. The contact stated that from his knowledge, the girl was only treated for cuts and bruises. The contact stated that he was knocked out for a few minutes after impact but refused medical attention at the scene. He later went to the hospital and was treated for a concussion and whiplash. The contact stated that he believed that a police report was filed but was not certain. The vehicle was towed from the scene to an independent tow yard where it was deemed a total loss. The dealer nor the manufacturer have been notified of the failure. The vehicle had been destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 215,000.

I RECENTLY LEARNED OF THE SAFETY RECALL 10V-074 THAT DESCRIBED THE EXACT SITUATION I ENCOUNTERED IN 2014. I WAS DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN ENGINE DIED. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES STARTING IN 13' WITH THE ECM BEING REPLACED AFTER 05' ARMADA STALLED ON HIGHWAY TRAVELING 70 MILES/HOUR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. RECENTLY IN EARLY 15' I RAN OUT OF GAS WHEN FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A QUARTER TANK OF GAS AT A RED LIGHT. ALSO IN EARLY 15' MY A/C WILL ONLY WORK WHEN ON HIGH. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE KNOWN & ARE LISTED AS RECALLS THAT I WILL BE MAKING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TO RESEARCH, CORRECT & FIX. I GOOGLED INCIDENT TO FIND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS & REPORTS WITH SIMILAR TO IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS/KNOW ISSUE REPORTED & FILED. I WAS BLESSED THAT MY FAMILY WAS OK & I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A SERIOUS POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT WITH LOSS OF BREAKS ONE TIME FOR NO REASON. THIS WAS THE 1ST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF OUTCOME IT COULD CAUSE WITH TEMPORARY BREAK FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING AND MY VEHICLE CUT OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT IT DID NOT START. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT I REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR. I AGREED TO THIS SERVICE AS WELL AS PURCHASED A BATTERY AND HAD A SEAL REPLACED. THE VEHICLE DROVE WELL FOR ABOUT A WEEK. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK LATER IT CUT OFF AGAIN. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY COMPLETED AN IDLE RELEARN ON THE TRUCK. IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH, BUT HAS RESUMED CUTTING OFF WHICH HAS RESULTED IN IT STALLING IN TRAFFIC AND LEAVING MY FAMILY STRANDED WHILE WE ATTEMPT TO TROUBLESHOOT. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN ON 7/18 DUE TO IT BREAKING DOWN. WHEN IT ARRIVED AT THE SHOP IT DID NOT TURN ON INITIALLY, BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO START IT. IT WAS THERE UNTIL 7/21 DURING WHICH TIME I AGREED TO HAVE THEIR SHOP FOREMAN DRIVE IT HOME. THEY CLAIM THAT IT NEVER CUT OFF DURING THE TIME THAT THEY HAD IT. THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REASON FOR THE ISSUE, STATING THAT THE TRUCK HAS TO BREAK DOWN FOR THEM TO TROUBLESHOOT DUE TO THE COMPUTER NOT RECEIVING A CODE FROM THE VEHICLE. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I LEAVE IT WITH THEM UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN, WHICH WOULD BE FINE IF IT WASN'T MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. THIS ISSUE IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE COULD CUT OFF AT ANY TIME AND LEAD TO A FATAL VEHICLE ACCIDENT. THE FIRST INCIDENT TOOK PLACE APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASE, BUT IT WAS NOT AS SEVERE, SO I WILL BEGIN WITH THE FIRST SEVERE OCCURRENCE, WHICH TOOK PLACE IN THE SUMMER OF 2009. AT ABOUT 55 MILES PER HOUR THE VEHICLE SHAKES, AND THE STEERING SEEMED A BIT LOOSE. BUT BECAUSE I LIKE MY NISSAN, I JUST DROVE IT VERY CAREFULLY. THEN IN 2014, IT BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. THE BRAKE LIGHT TURNS ON, THE PEDDLE GOES TO THE FLOOR, BRAKES ARE NOT NORMAL AND VERY TOUCHY AND THE CAR SHUDDERS VICIOUSLY TO A STOP WHILE. LOUD NOISE IS SCARY WHILE BRAKES NOT FIRING IN THE USUAL PEDDLE POSITION AND FEEL LIKE MUSH. NOW IN JANUARY A NEW SITUATION STARTED OCCURRING WHEN THE BRAKE BOOSTER WOULD FAIL IS THAT THE ARMADA WOULD ALSO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE ON PRESSING THE BRAKE. I WENT TO STOP MY ARMADA'S AND THE ENGINE SURGED ITS RPMS WHILE THE ANTI-LOCK RELAYS WERE FIRING. I STOOD ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE WITH MY EVERY MUSCLE IN MY BODY TO TRY TO GET THE NISSAN ARMADA TO STOP. ON THE LISTED DATE ABOVE OUR FAMILY WAS ON EN ROUTE TO OUR VACATION DESTINATION, TRAVELING IN OUR ARMADA WITH CAMPER IN TOW. WHILE GOING THRU THE MOUNTAINS IN VIRGINIA WE HAD LOST ALL POWER TO OUR TRANSMISSION CAUSING US TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE EXPRESSWAY. AFTER SOME TIME WE WHERE FINALLY ABLE TO GET TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP IN COVINGTON. AS SOON AS THE SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE HE NEW EXACTLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE TAIL PIPE HAD DISCONNECTED FROM THE MUFFLER AND THAT THE HOT EXHAUST BURNED UP THE WIRE HARNESS THAT CONTROLLED ALL THE POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS THEY HAD SEEN AND FIXED 4 TO 5 TIMES AT THIS DEALERSHIP. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE PIPING FROM THE MUFFLER SOME HOW ERODED AWAY AND DISCONNECTED ALLOWING THE EXHAUST TO BURN UP THE WIRE HARNESS, AS WELL AS THE HOSE THAT SUPPLIES THE COMPRESSED AIR TO THE AIR SHOCKS. HE HAD SAID THAT HE JUST HAD HIS TAIL PIPE WELDED BACK ON BUT HAD IT DONE AT A MUFFLER SHOP SO THIS WAS NOT DOCUMENTED AT A DEALERSHIP. HE HAD SAID THAT HE COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING BUT HE HAD NO OTHER ISSUES. HE WAS LUCKY AND HE MAY WANT TO CHECK IT OUT BECAUSE OF THE EXPERIENCE THAT I HAD. PREVIOUSLY REPORTED UNDER COMPLAINT #ODI ID NUMBER : 10339985. A SUMMARY OF THE PROBLEM:THE ISSUE/PROBLEM: THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. WHEN BRAKES ARE USED, THERE IS DECREASED BRAKING POWER. THE BRAKES MAKE A CRUNCHING, SPRINGY NOISE WITH THE PEDAL BEING EXTREMELY SOFT UNTIL IT GETS CLOSER TO THE FLOOR AND BEGINS TO GIVE BRAKING POWER. WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED OFF, THE PROBLEM RESOLVES AT LEAST TEMPORARILY. WHEN THE ENGINE HAS TURNED OFF, I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM REOCCUR AS SOON AS 5 MINUTES AND AS LONG AS 31 MONTHS. I MADE A VIDEO OF ONE OF MY INSTANCES @ HTTP://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=BMTPOFDBJR8 I FIRST EXPERIENCED THE BRAKING PROBLEM BACK IN 3/06 WITH ~12,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, BUT IT HAD HAPPENED TO ME 3-4 TIMES PRIOR TO GETTING IT TO THE DEALER. DURING THE VISIT, THEY PERFORMED THE JUDDER BRAKE BULLETIN SERVICE. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE JUDDER BRAKE BULLETIN DID NOT SEEM TO FIT MY PROBLEM, BUT THE CAR NO LONGER HAD THE ISSUE. THEN THE ISSUE RECURRED AT ~46,000 MILES IN 10/08. AGAIN THE BRAKES DID NOT HAVE FULL POWER FOR 3-5 TIMES PRIOR TO GETTING IT TO THE DEALER. I WAS ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE PROBLEM TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC, BUT WHEN HE SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE COMPUTER DID NOT HAVE ANY REPAIR CODES STORED, BUT THEY PERFORMED TSB 06-040, A COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE CAR WAS FINE UNTIL 6/25/10 WHEN THE PROBLEM RECURRED. IT OCCURRED THREE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. I STARTED TRACKING THE OCCURRENCES: 6/27 X 1, 6/28 X1. I MADE A APPOINTMENT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 6/29. I KEPT THE CAR AND IT REPRODUCED THE PROBLEM 7/1 AND 7/4@ 70,697MILES. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO ALLOW THEM TO TAKE THE CAR AND GET A LOANER SO THAT THEY COULD HOPEFULLY REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. WE PURCHASED A 2005 ARMADA WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT IN 2009, AT THAT TIME THE DEALER SOLD IT TO US WITH THE AIRBAGS SYSTEM SHOWING THE WARNING LIGHT SOLID. THEY ASKED FOR US TO TAKE IT TO A NEARBY NISSAN DEALER AND GET THE PROBLEM LOOKED AT BECAUSE THEY WERE A SAAB DEALER. THE NISSAN DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM WITHOUT NOTIFYING US OF A COST. THIS ACTION WAS A COST OF $330 WHICH I ASKED THEM TO TAKE THE PART OUT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE SAAB DEALERS AUTHORIZATION. THIS DEALERSHIP TOLD ME NISSAN HONORED THE WORK AND WARRANTY. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA, AND I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE NEEDS A RECALL. THIS VEHICLE HAS A REAR DOOR THAT LIFTS UP TO OPEN. THE LOCKING MECHANISM IS DEFECTIVE, AND WHEN IT BREAKS, THE REAR DOOR & WINDOW ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN. I WAS DRIVING MY '05 NISSAN ARMADA (27,000 MILES) WITH MY 2 YR OLD SON AND SMELLED A STRONG ODOR, THINKING IT WAS FROM A TRUCK DRIVING NEXT TO ME. I PICKED UP MY DAUGHTER, PUT BOTH CHILDREN IN THEIR CAR SEATS AND STARTED THE IGNITION. TWO PUFFS OF SMOKE CAME OUT ON EITHER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. HEATER UNIT FAILS TO OPERATE UNLESS YOU SWITCH BACK AND FORTH THE CONTROL UNIT SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS A UNSAFE CONDITION DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS AUTO HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED OR RESOLVED. A VEHICLE'S CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM SHOULD BE RELIABLE AND SHOULD BE FIXED. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY. BOUGHT THIS 2005 NISSAN ARMADA NEW IN 2005. SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT THE DRIVERS DOOR HAS BEEN VERY NOISY AND OPENS SLIGHTLY WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HIT A BUMP. DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE HE ISSUE AND IT IS NORMAL. ALSO HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN 5 OR MORE TIMES BECAUSE FRONT END SHIMMY MAKES STEERING WHEEL SHAKE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THEY HAVE BALANCED THE TRUCK EVERYTIME AND STILL HAS NOT HELPED. ONLY 25,000 MILE ON THE TRUCK AND ALL THESE PROBLEMS. 4WD LIGHT WOULD ENGAGE INTERMITTENTLY. STAYED ON FOR THE DURATION THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AT APPROX MILEAGE: 1530 MILES, 3650 MILES & YESTERDAY 10/31/06 AT 9:15 P.M. PST 6880 MILES. BRAKES & ROTORS FAILED AT 2200 MILES. REPLACED BY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. BRAKES SEVERELY SCREECHED AT 5500 MILES. LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE SAID "WE FORGOT TO TIGHTENED UP A FEW BOLTS ON YOUR BRAKES". AT 6750 MILES, SEVERE BRAKES PROBLEMS. BRAKES LIGHTS CAME ON, BRAKES LOCKED UP W/ CAR SEVERELY LURCHING FORWARD WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE LIGHT PRESSURE. DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AS IS WITHOUT TURNING OFF THE CAR. NOTICED THAT PROBLEM WAS SERIOUS & GAVE US A LOANER VEHICLE FOR 9 DAYS. LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS FAILURE CODE BEFORE ON ANY NISSAN VEHICLE FOR A BRAKE ISSUE. "DELTA STROKEFORCE" LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM; DROVE IT TO A NEIGHBORING DEALERSHIP 180 MILES R/T. THE NEIGHBORING DEALERSHIP RE-PROGRAMMED THE INTERNAL COMPUTER & ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. TONIGHT 11/01/2006, BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON & BRAKES FAILED AGAIN WITH MY WIFE & KIDS IN THE VEHICLE. COULD NOT MAKE A STOP OFF A FREEWAY EXIT & JUST ABOUT PUT HER FOOT THROUGH THE FLOORBOARD TRYING TO DO SO. BRAKES ENGAGED SUDDENLY SKIDDING THE TIRES THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. PURCHASED 2005 ARMADA IN MAY BY JUNE VEHICLE WENT INTO SERVICE BECAUSE A NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE REAR SIDE. 2 ATTEMPTS TO FIX AND PART WAS REPLACED. AUGUST 2005 TAKEN TO DEALER AGAIN BECAUSE OF SHAKING WHILE BRAKING, AND FRONT ROTORS /PADS WERE REPLACED, AND REAR ROTORS RESURFACED. JANUARY 2006 VEHICLE TAKEN BACK TO DEALER BECAUSE THERE WAS A GRINDING. APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM WERE THE TIRES THAT NEEDED BALANCING AND ROTATING. ANOTHER PROBLEM WAS THE LIFTGATE, IT DID NOT WANT TO OPEN AND CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 DAYS AND THEY STILL DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. AS ANOTHER CONSUMER MENTIONED THE STABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE WAS VERY POOR, I HAVE SWIRVED SHARPLY TO THE LEFT WHEN BRAKING AT 50 MPH OR MORE. WELL I THOUGHT THAT I WAS PURCHASING A REALLY GOOD AND SAFE VEHICLE AT FIRST, BUT NOW I AM FINDING TO ALMOST DOUBT MYSELF.... WELL I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY NISSAN ARMADA FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS NOW AND IT USED TO GET ME TO WORK AND BACK HOME ON A DAILY BASIS. IT IS ALSO USED TO TAKE ME AND MY CHILDREN TO THE DOCTORS ETC. I HAD FELT THIS VIBRATION IN THE TRUCK AND STEERING WHEEL AND I DID NOT THINK IT WAS ANYTHING UNTIL IT STARTED TO GET WORSE AS THE DAYS PROGRESSED. IF I GO OVER 30 MPH AND HAVE TO SLOW DOWN THE VIBRATION IS REAL MINOR. IF I GO OVER 35 MPH IT TAKES LONGER TO STOP AND THE VIBRATION GETS WORST. DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT ON MARCH 5, 2005 THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SEAT BELTS LOCKED WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE SEAT BELTS TIGHTENED LIKE THEY WERE CHOKING THE CONSUMER. THE MIDDLE ROW SEAT LOCKED, BUT DID NOT CATCH IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CONSUMER FROM GOING FORWARD. ALSO WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE SHOOK SO VIOLENTLY THAT ONE COULD NOT HANG ONTO THE WHEEL. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE BRAKES, AND THE DEALER SAID THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW BRAKE SYSTEM. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERS ON OCTOBER 5, 2005 BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP CRACKED. THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND THE ENGINE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. BOUGHT NISSAN ARMADA JANUARY 2005. BY MARCH OF 2005 JUST A LITTLE OVER 2000 MILES THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING WHEN BRAKING. BROUGHT CAR BACK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD ROTORS TOO SMALL FOR THE CAR. ROTORS REPLACED. STEERING STARTED SHAKING AGAIN EARLY JUNE. CAR BROUGHT BACK AGAIN. TOLD IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE PERMENENT "FIX" WOULD BE AVAILABLE BY THE END OF JUNE. TOLD AT THE END OF JUNE THE "FIX" WOULD BE AVAILABLE BUY MID JULY. NOW MID JULY WITH NO "FIX" AVAILABLE. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES SO BADLY IT IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. CAR WILL BE BROUGHT IN FOR THE 3RD TIME ON 7/19/05 FOR THIRD VISIT AND 2ND SET OF ROTORS. STILL NO PERMENENT "FIX" AVAILABLE.

THERE ARE MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE NISSAN ARMADA 2005 VEHICLE. 1ST, THE BRAKES HAVE GONE OUT NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. 2ND, NUMEROUS RATTLES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE HAVE GONE UNFIXED BY NISSAN SERVICE - SOME RATTLES ARE SERIOUS ENOUGH TO WHERE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OPENS A INCH OR SO OVER A LARGE BUMP IN THE ROAD (SOMETHING COULD BE WRONG WITH THE LATCHING MECHANISM OR FORM FIT BETWEEN THE DOOR AND BODY). THE REAR CARGO DOOR HAS RATTLE AND VIBRATION ISSUES. 3RD) A SERIOUS VISIBILITY ISSUE THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN IGNORED BY NISSAN SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. THERE IS A SERIOUS VISIUAL PROBLEM THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD THAT CAUSES DOUBLE VISION (SOME SORT OF OPTICAL ISSUE WITH CARLEX GLASS) - NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR DUE TO COMPARISON WITH OTHER ARMADAS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.

EVERYDAY DRIVING ON GOOD ROADS AND BAD ROADS AND WHILE HITTING BUMPS OR ANY IMPERFECTION IN THE ROAD STEERING WHEEL MOVES SIDE TO SIDE. NOT THE WHOLE COLUMN JUST THE STEERING WHEEL. ONE TIME, WHILE HOLDING STEERING WHEEL NEAR BOTTOM WHEEL JILTED TO RIGHT AND CAUGHT MY HAND IN OPENING OF WHEEL TO WHERE I COULD NOT GAIN CONTROL RIGHT AWAY. THIS STEERING WHEEL SHAKE HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY, WHERE VEHICLE DOES MOVE TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT DEPENDING ON WHICH WHEEL HITS THE BUMP OR HOLE IN THE ROAD. DEALER SAID THIS IS NORMAL IN THE STEERING. THE STEERING IS JUST VERY LOOSE AND SLOPPY, EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED, WHERE IT IS SUPPOSE TO GET TIGHTER. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER ON 2/19/05 FOR THE PROBLEM, AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING, ONLY THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND REPLACED THOSE PARTS. THEY SAID THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. BUT MY PROBLEM IS WITH THE STEERING , AND A REPAIR OF BRAKING SYSTEM WILL NOT SOLVE THE STEERING PROBLEM, THAT WILL JUST SOLVE THE SHAKING PROBLEM WHEN I STEPPING ON THE BRAKE,S NOT WHILE I'M DRIVING ALONG ROADS. THERE IS 2,600 MILES ON THE VEHICLE ,AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE OR COMFORTABLE. IT ALWAYS FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE HAS A SHOCK OR STABILIZER PROBLEM. I HOPE THIS CAN BE LOOKED INTO SERIOUSLY BEFORE SOME ONE LOOSES CONTROL AND HAS A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH SERIOUS INJURY BEFORE THIS PROBLEM GETS RESOLVED. PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN ARMADA IN DECEMBER 2004. NOTICEABLE SHAKING IN STEERING WHEEL COLUMN WHEN BRAKING. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHEN BRAKING FROM SPEEDS GREATER THAN 40 MPH. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH STEERING WHEEL SHAKING, WHICH THE SERVICE ADVISOR EXPLAINED, IS DUE TO ROTOR BECOMING HEATED AND WARPED. HE SAID THAT THEY HAVE A TEMPORARY FIX FOR THE PROBLEM - CHANGING BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, AND INSTALLING A BOLT SOMEHWERE, AND THAT NISSAN WAS WORKING ON A PERMANENT FIX. I WISH I NEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE BEFORE I DISHED OUT THE BIG BUCKS. HOPEFULLY, THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT POSE A DEADLY HAZARD IN THE NOT TO DISTANT FUTURE.*AK
