I am having the same issues as other recalled Armadas with the battery not charging due to smart alternator however my vehicle was not included in the recall. I have had multiple incidents over the years where my car would not start back. Not only is it an inconvenience, but also a safety concern for my daughter and I.

Vehicle had the battery replaced 11months ago, after it was replaced by the dealer prior to purchasing. Starting having starting issues again, which is what led to the initial battery replacement. Had a diagnostic done to figure out where the patristic draw was coming from to learn that Nissan issued a memo/bulletin in 2019 for this exact issue (Body Control Module) causing an intermittent parasitic draw and killing the battery. An update is known and needed to resolve. Why has this not been a recall? Why do I have to pay to have this completed when Nissan knows it is an issue!?

Car intermittent problems with not starting. Believe it has to do with smart alternator not charging cause of short distance driving and not getting full charge so it runs down the battery.

In June 2022, my wife and children were stranded at a state forest, with no one around to assist, due to the vehicle not starting. My wife explained the vehicle symptoms and I expected it to be a battery or key fob issue, so I left work, grabbed the spare fob and jumper cables and headed to their location. First I tried to start it with the spare fob but that did not work, so I jumped battery and the vehicle started right up. We took the vehicle to a Nissan dealership to have it looked at, thinking it was an issue with the charging system. After the dealership looked at it, they came to the conclusion that the battery was bad and also the vehicle was pulling too much power from the battery. The battery was replaced under warranty on June 10, 2022. Almost exactly 2 years later, June 13, 2024, the same incident occurred. My wife and children were stranded yet again, at a gas station. This time someone was able to assist, they jumped the battery, it started right up. I immediately contacted the same dealership, and took it there the following morning. This time the battery tested good, but said the vehicle is pulling to much power from the battery causing it to drain. They recommended having the battery saver settings changed in BCM and modify the smart charge system. They also stated that this is becoming a known issue with this vehicle model and has been having several others in with this same issue.

While driving on the highway in Caguas, Puerto Rico, suddenly the sunroof glass explote it into pieces, falling inside the car. I did not pass under a bridge, there were no other cars around, simply exploted! Please do something about this defect according to online sources! Just don’t wait on thousands of complaints to do something since many people don’t know they could and they just rather paid and repair! Very unfair that the car companies are not assuming any responsibility!

06/22 Vehicle did not want to start and new battery was purchased. 07/22 Vehicle did not want to start again and a message on the dash BCI malfunction, took to Nissan for diagnosis. Replaced brake light switch & BCM. 06/23 trouble starting vehicle, AAA tested battery and needed to replace. Battery was replaced. 07/24 Same problem vehicle did not want to start, AAA charged battery and mentioned it needed to be replaced.

My sunroof exploded without any object hitting it.

A little over a year ago my car started to display “BCI malfunction”, “Forward collision”, “slick conditions” on the dashboard and would jolt me forward and then not allow me to accelerate. We didn’t know when it would happen because it didn’t happen every time until I got stuck at a stop light due to those lights displaying and jolting me forward and not allowing me to accelerate. I contacted the dealership and they got the car in and fixed what needed to be fixed and it didn’t do it again. Year and a half later it started displaying the same lights on the dashboard, jolting me forward and not letting me accelerate. This time I was parked in my work parking light and there was a light pole about 4 feet in front of my parking spot. I turned my car on, put it into gear it displayed those same images that I stated above, jolted me forwarded directly into the light pole causing my airbags to deploy into my neck. No one else was hurt as it was just myself in the vehicle, with the way it hit the pole I do not believe my airbag should have even went off as it should have been the passenger side airbag that should have deployed if any at all. My insurance has been contacted and is aware of the incident and it is currently at a shop being looked over. I have also contacted the Nissan dealership and they stated there wasn’t a recall on my vehicle and there wasn’t anything they could do for me.

I PURCHASE MY NISSAN ARMADA IN APRIL 2019. IN NOVEMBER 2019 THE CAR LEFT ME STRANDED WITH A DEATH BATTERY. I HAD TO GET IT JUMP STARTED AND THEN DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, A LOW BATTERY. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2019, SAME ISSUE , THEY CHECKED AND CHANGED THE THE BATTERY. THIS YEAR I HAD THE SAME ISSUE 4 TIMES ALREADY SOMETIMES PARKED AT MY HOUSE SOME AT PUBLIC AREAS, THROUGH OUT THE YEAR, THE FIRST TWO TIMES THEY HAD TO JUMP STARTED . THE THIRD TIME THE MECHANIC THEY SENT COULDN'T STARTED, SINCE I WAS STRANDED IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT ANOTHER PERSON HAD TO HELP. THE FOURTH TIME THE TOWING COMPANY COULD NOT GET IT STARTED AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED. THEY HAVE CHECKED THE IGNITION, THE BATTERY, THE ELECTRICAL AND THEY CAN'T FIND WHAT IS MAKING THE BATTERY DRAIN POWER AND LEAVE IT USEFUL. THE DEALERSHIPS RESPOND IS, TO DRIVE IT LONGER DISTANCE ONCE A WEEK OR TO BUY A POWER BATTERY FOR MY HOUSE TO CHARGE IT ONCE A WEEK! THE CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP SINCE I WILL NOT TAKE THIS AS A LOGICAL EXPLANATION, FOR A NEW CAR WITH ONLY 9.800 MILES. THEIR SOLUTIONS ARE 1- TO BUY A LARGER BATTERY AT MY COST AND LOSE THE WARRANTY FROM THEM ,2- BUY A BATTERY TENDER TO CHARGE MY CAR ONCE A WEEK ( AT MY OWN COST) 3- BUY A NEW CAR ( OUR REQUEST TO SEE OPTIONS) AND FOR THEM IS A REGULAR TRADEOFF. THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AND THEIR SOLUTIONS ARE NOT LOGICAL. COMPARED TO OTHER MODELS AND BRANDS, WITH EVEN LESS DRIVING HABITS THAN MINE , I DON'T SEE THEM HAVING TO GO THROUGH THIS OR CHARGING THEIR CARS AT HOME!! THEY DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER AND THEIR SOLUTION AS THEY TELL ME WON'T GUARANTEE THE CAR WILL WORK. AND THE WORST PART THEY ALL COST ME MONEY! IT IS SAD THAT MY INVESTMENT AND RELIABILITY ON A FAMILY CAR IS NOT GIVING ME THE CONFIDENCE, SAFETY AND IS A HAZEL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE MY TODDLER TO TRANSPORT AND I HATE TO BE STUCK SOMEWHERE WITH NO HELP.

The front infotainment system goes out every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes this also includes the hands free phone features and backup camera. Additionally, with the hands free phone the person on the other end of the line is unable to hear the driver of the car causing the driver to not be able to make hands free calls which is a law in Colorado. I took the car into the dealership as per recommendation of Nissan Customer Care. The dealership found that the Telematics communication module is failing and a new one is required, the rep stated this has been happening a lot with the same make, model and year vehicle as mine. Additionally, the silver colored trim around the center console puts off a very bright glare that catches the drivers eye and is blinding for a couple of seconds, the only way to resolve this is to cover up the whole center console so as to be able to see when driving.

My car shuts off and will not restart. The battery drains if I go for a short drive. I have taken and had it inspected by the dealership I bought it from and the Nissan dealership itself. I was told that it is showing no codes therefore they cannot address the issue. They drained and recharged my battery at the Nissan dealership, and it continues to happen. I have looked online and found many people with the same vehicle have the same issues. As for safety of the car I am not sure it poses a threat to anyone, but me walking home in this heat because my $35,000.00 is not good. My mother who has many respiratory issues cannot be in this heat and when the car did not start she was forced to sit and wait for my husband to leave work for an hour to jump us. Many say to disconnect a wire but I was warned if I do anything, my warranty will be void. The Nissan dealership said because there is not a code for that, they cannot do anything. This happened yesterday and this is the 6th time since I got it.

Battery has been changed several times. First time we were told there was a recall on due to the brake light draining the battery. This was supposedly fixed and we were charged for a new battery. Within a year of new battery we experienced the same thing car not starting due to dead battery, we took it back to dealership and was told the battery they sold us was defective and we needed it to be replaced, battery got replaced (no charge since it was still under warranty). A year after that I’m back here in the dealership due to the same problem vehicle not starting due to a dead battery, now they are saying battery is not defective but they need to investigate further and in order to do that they charging me $160 dollars. Something is clearly defective that continues to drain the battery for no reason. It’s ridiculous having to change batteries every year and having the car not starting and having to jump start it every time you need to be somewhere. I have not have good experiences with nissan I will not purchases another vehicle ever again from them, so people should be aware of all the problems and their failure to address them.

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle failed to properly accelerate. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over on the side of the road and turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle operated but failed to exceed 20 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the transmission was replaced and the engine coolant was flushed and replaced; however, the failure recurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the HVAC system failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that coolant was leaking into the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

SUSPENSION
4 complaints
The rear end air suspension stopped working and will not raise the vehicle to the proper height. This caused the vehicle to become unstable in the rear and difficult to fully control the vehicle. With a wet road it becomes much worse as the rear end will lose contact with the road even at a much lower reduced speed. I've noticed several other Armada's with sagging rear ends and I've read several threads online with owners. After experiencing this first hand as a CDL-A driver. This is very dangerous and Nissan doesn't appear to care one bit about this issue with their high end product. Please help us do something about this before someone gets hurt or worse, thank you for your consideration in the matter.

Rear suspension is extremely bouncy causing very poor handling due to defective factory shocks.
Mar 05, 2024
Rear suspension failed while I was sitting in parked car. I heard a pop and then felt the back of the suv drop low to the ground. Had it towed to Nissan dealer and was told the pop noise I heard was the air bag for the rear suspension. There was no warning for this issue. I had to replace the entire rear suspension for 1500 dollars.
Apr 12, 2022
While driving car on highway the rear felt like it was going one way while I was steering another. Took to dealer that just replaced rear suspension on 2/23/22. They saw that the rear tires were worn on the inside to the point of exposed wires. The tires checked out fine on 2/23/22 which indicates an issue on their end. They could not get the rear to align, tried to sell me rear tires (which weren't bad before they worked on the rear suspension).

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Brakes and front sensor. Yes How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Collisions Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes’ , front sensor failure light appeared and brakes failed. On two occasions, the brakes have failed when we are in the drive-through, causing us to rear end the vehicle in front of us. We had the car towed to a Nissan dealer. They were unable to re-create the problem as they did not take it through a drive-through or where they would be in close proximity of another car. After bringing it home, we drove it again no issues until we were in a drive through where the brakes failed as we were pushing on them. The light came on saying front sensor failure again we rear ended another vehicle.

Repeatedly drained battery, and won’t start.Nissan dealership Has the worst scheduling system that takes 1 week to get an appointment. POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1 complaint
My 2019 Nissan Armada has a recurring electrical issue that causes the battery to drain and the vehicle to not start, even though the battery tests “good.” This problem began last year — we took the Armada to Nissan and had to pay over $200 for a new battery, which is now less than a year old. Despite this, the issue continues. Recently, AutoZone tested the battery again and found it only 60% charged. I took the Armada back to Nissan and paid $99 for a diagnostic test, and they quoted $725 to reset and reprogram the vehicle’s systems — just to address a problem that should not be happening on a vehicle I purchased less than two years ago. The Nissan technician even stated that many Armada owners are experiencing the same issue, yet my VIN is not included in any recall or service campaign. This is not just inconvenient — it is a serious safety risk. If my Armada dies while traveling or loses power while pulling into traffic, it puts me and my three small children in immediate danger. I believe this is a widespread defect and am asking NHTSA to investigate whether this battery drain / no-start issue should be escalated to a recall. Nissan should not be charging families hundreds of dollars to fix a known problem that is leaving people stranded in unsafe situations.

My 2019 Nissan Armada has been showing a BCI Malfuntion warning light for the past year and a half on and off. Sometimes it puts the truck in limp mode, it won't start, or the brakes engage and the truck will not move while in drive. This has happened well over 30 times in the last year and a half. Typically, turning the truck off and on solves the issue, but there have been instances where I needed to unhook the battery. I read there was a recall on the 2017-2019 models for this issue. However, when I looked up the VIN on this site, it says my truck has no open recalls. I took it to a mechanic, but they could not find any issues as the warning light had gone off. In the additional details below I have put the latest time this happened which was yesterday. However it has been happening since 2024.

This vehicle has less than 24k miles, and just surpassed the warranty period and suddenly with no explanation, it won't start due to a faulty start switch in the brake pedal which must be depressed to start the vehicle or shift into drive. 90% of the time the vehicle will not start. Only after spending 10-20 fidgeting with the break pedal while simultaneously pushing the start button and moving the gear knob will the vehicle start if you are lucky. Then you can spend another 20 minutes trying to get the vehicle to go into gear. The dealer and Nissan refuse to recall this item despite over one million complaints on the issue, and a history or recalls on other models with the same switch. But the dealer is happy to charge over $1500 to replace it. After spending nearly 70,000 on these cars new, few people are willing to throw $1500 at it with so few miles. Now the vehicle has SERIOUS problems. While driving down the road, the car will suddenly and instantly lock the brakes with no warning. This happened twice. Once in the street and one on the highway. In addition, the BCI malfunction and several other lights come on and many of the main funtions of the car just shut down while driving.

12/2/2021 SUV accelerated on its own incident happened in my daughters driveway. SUV is available for inspection I have possession as of 1/22/22 picked up from Nissan dealership. I pulled in the her driveway then I backed up so I would be half on the driveway and half on grass in the event her or her husband needed to leave Backed up the car and soon as I put the car in drive the car accelerated on its own. I pushed my foot on the brake pedal as hard as I could would not stop till it hit my daughters car which then shoved her new car through her garage door. A warning message came up on the screen stating SONAR Malfunction as this was all going on. There was a police report filed that same day. Car was taken to Nissan Dealership We were told to leave the car and contact Nissan Consumer hotline. I called they said they would assign someone to the case and they would call me. The first contact from the Nissan Consumer hotline case manager was1/3/2022. This person was very hard to reach. Called me and Stated inspection would be done in a couple weeks she would contact me when she had a date. She calls me the same day they were doing the inspection. Then called me back on 1/21/2022 to inform me the inspection results were in. Stated they could find anything wrong and were unable to duplicate. When I went to pick up my Nissan SUV we were handed a paper from the inspection did not have any details regarding the test. What did they do to come to the conclusion there is nothing wrong? They code is gone that came up when car was accelerating (sonar malfunction) . They told us the car is safe to drive. I have had so much anxiety about driving period since this incident. Since Nissan stated it’s safe to drive my husband said he would we have no choice The day Nissan called back to inform us of that we’re be a scheduled inspection. I called back forgot to ask a few questions . Is the car safe we can drive this was before inspection results no return call.

WHEN I AM TOWING MY 4000 LB TRAILER, USING A WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION HITCH, SET UP PROPERLY BY MY RV SPECIALIST, WITH EITHER UNLOADED OR WITH A LOADED WEIGHT NOT EXCEEDING EVEN 6000 POUNDS, THE ARMADA SINKS IN THE BACK END IN A WAY THAT THE REAR TIRES COME EXTREMELY CLOSE TO THE WHEEL WELL RIMS. MY RV SPECIALIST IS VERY CONCERNED THAT IF I AM DRIVING AND HIT A BUMP OR HOLE, THE TIRE COULD STRIKE THE WHEEL WELL RIM AND CAUSE A BLOW OUT OR MAJOR ACCIDENT. THEY ARE CONCERNED THE SPRING RATIO IS NOT DESIGNED PROPERLY FOR THE ARMADA (WHICH HAS A TOW PACKAGE AND IS SUPPOSEDLY CAPABLE OF TOWING 8500 POUNDS). I HAVE BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA'S ATTENTION AND THEY WILL NOT EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROBLEM, INSTEAD TELLING ME THAT IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS, IT IS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY!
