WENT TO MY LOCAL GARAGE TO GET MY TIRES BALANCED. MECHANIC REPORTED THAT 1 OF THE 4 TIRES (ALL BOUGHT TOGETHER) WAS BEGINNING TO COME APART INTERNALLY / BELT SEPARATION. THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED DURING OCTOBER OF 2019. THEY HAVE LESS THAN 8000 MILES ON THE TIRES. VENDOR IS REIMBURSING ME FOR THE ONE TIRE THAT WAS FOUND TO HAVE THE DEFECT. THANKFULLY THIS WAS CAUGHT EARLY, BUT AM VERY CONCERNED AS THE OTHER 3 TIRES HAVE THE SAME DOT NUMBER.

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SIDEWALL WAS SEPARATED FROM THE THREAD OF THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY FOUR YEARS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE DRY ROTTED. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED EVERY 7,000 MILES AND THE CONTACT WAS NOT ADVISED OF ANY FAILURES WITHIN THE TIRES. GAUGES (TEMPERATURE, GAS, SPEEDOMETER AND RPM) ALL GO DEAD WHILE DRIVING. THE ERROR HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE MY CAR WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD. I HAVE READ OTHER NISSAN CUSTOMERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH 2000 YEAR MODELS, HOWEVER NO RESOLUTION HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION. THE DIGITAL ODOMETER ALSO DOES NOT REGISTER MILES AS THEY ARE ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW FAST I'M GOING. THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE FUSE BOX THAT CAUSED A FIRE THAT BURNED UP THE BATTERY, THE HOSES AND MOST OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. PRIOR TO THE FIRE THE VEHICLE WAS STALLING DURING TURNS. THIS OCCURRED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN TO A GARAGE. THE FIRE STARTED AS THE TRUCK TURNED INTO THE GARAGE PARKING LOT SO IT WAS PUT OUT QUICKLY. I CONTACTED NISSAN, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE OR LOOK AT THE VEHICLE UNLESS I PAID TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER AND PAID THE NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE A MECHANIC WITH NO C&O TRAINING LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. I CALLED NISSAN BACK AND THEY SAID THAT WAS THERE FINAL DECISION AND NO ONE FROM NISSAN COULD DO ANYTHING ELSE. *AK

MY NISSAN 2000 SE 4X4 EXTENDED CAB HAS AROUND 27000 MILES. I PURCHASED IT NEW FROM CARMAX ON 6/9/2000. ABOUT SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE TRUCK I EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I NOTIFIED MY NISSAN DEALER BUT COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I'VE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM BUT IT NOW OCCURS JUST ABOUT EVERY TIME I DRIVE. THE BEARINGS CORRODED BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE SEALING OF THE ANTILOCK BREAKING SYSTEM, WHICH CAUSED WATER AND MOISTURE TO REACH THE BEARINGS. NOTICED THAT TRUCK HAD A LEAN TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. WHEN TAKING LEFT TURNS, TRUCK WOULD LIST AND LEAN EXCESSIVELY TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TROUBLESOME IN DOWNHILL TURNS OR UNDER ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. SOUGHT DEALER HELP MULTIPLE TIMES AS WELL AS NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. DEALER ADJUSTED RIDE HEIGHT, SAID THESE TRUCKS HAD A TORSION BAR ISSUE, NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD O. CONSUMER AFFAIRS DID NOTHING BUT REFER ME TO ANOTHER DEALER, SAME RESULT. A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY PRODUCED A LETTER BACK TELLING ME TO GO TO CONTACT CONSUMER AFFAIRS. TRUCK HAS ALSO BROKEN STABILIZER NUTS SEVERAL TIMES. TOOK VEHICLE TO AN ALIGNMENT AN SUSPENSION EXPERT, SAID THE TRUCK RIDE HEIGHT CANNOT BE ADJUSTER UP TO FACTORY SPECS, AND MAINTAIN ALIGNMENT. HE HAD TO LOWER THE VEHICLE TO ALLOW IT TO BE ALIGNED PROPERLY. IT IS MY GUESS THAT THERE IS A DESIGN ISSUE OR PART FAILURE. I BELIEVE NISSAN KNOWS THIS, AND LOWERED THE RIDE HEIGHT THEMSELVES TO ALLOW ALIGNMENT AT THE FACTORY, SACRIFICING BALANCE, DRIVEABILITY AND SAFETY. AT APPROX. 20,000 MILES VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE A RATTLING/BUMPING NOISE IN LEFT FRONT. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2000 NISSIAN'S AND WOUILD BE REPLACED ONLY WHEN CONSUMER COMPLAINED. DEALER REPLACED LEFT STABILZER BUSHING AND REFUSED TO GIVE A COPY OF W/O SAYING IT "WAS RECORDED IN COMPUTER." AT APROX. 45,000 MILES LEFT STABILIZER BUSHING FAILED AGAIN AND WAS REPLACED BY MECHANIC WHO AGAIN STATED THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH NISSIAN. AT 67,000 MILES BOTH STABILIZER BUSHINGS HAVE FAILED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. HAD VEHICLE CHECKED BY THIRD MECHANIC WHO REAFFIRMED THAT STABILIZER BUSHINGS ON NISSAN'S DID NOT HOLD UP WELL.*AK

FUEL LEAK FROM TOP OF DEFECTIVE FUEL TANK (CORROSION) CONFIRMED BY NISSAN 112 PATCHOGUE, NY. THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2001 FRONTIERS FOR THE SAME REASON BUT NOT ON THE 2000. I SEE MANY OTHER 2000 FRONTIER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT IN MOST CASES NISSAN REPLACED THE TANK FOR NO CHARGE. THE SMELL DISSIPATED AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BUT LATER RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD CORROSION AND WAS CAUSING GASOLINE VAPORS TO ESCAPE THE TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE WHERE SHE HAD A MECHANIC CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER AS A TEMPORARY REPAIR BUT IT DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE GAS CAP BEING RUSTED. THE CONTACT PAID $600 FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000. CAR HESITATION AND RUNNING ROUGH. SERVICE ENGINE CAME ON AND CAR DROPPED OFF AT NISSAN DEALER FOR SERVICE. DEALER CALLED AND SAID THE (6)COILS NEED REPLACING. THE CAR HAS 68000 MILES ON IT NOW. THE COILS HAD BEEN REPLACED IN 2001 WHEN THE CAR HAD 30,000 MILES ON IT. I READ THERE SERVICE BOOKLET AND NO WHERE DOES IT SAY TO HAVE THE COILS REPLACED EVERY 30,000MILES. WHEN THE DEALER REPLACED THE COILS AT 30,000MILES HE SAID THAT NISSAN HAD SOME DEFECTIVE COILS AND THEY DID THE UNDER WARRANTY BUT THIS TIME IT COSTS ME $611.65 AS THEY SAID THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER. AFTER CHECKING EDMUNDS WEB SITE AND SEVERAL OTHERS IT APPEARS EVERY 2000 MAXIMA HAS TO HAVE THE COILS REPLACED EVERY 30,000MILES OR SO AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE.*AK

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2000 NISSAN QUEST, WHEN THE CAR CONTINUED TO IDLE AT ABOUT 1200 RPMS AND WOULD NOT COME DOWN WHEN SHE LET UP ON THE GAS PEDAL. The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear taillight bulb would eject from the retaining clip inside the socket of the taillight assembly. She became aware of the failure after purchasing replacement bulbs for what she thought were blown bulbs. After several failures, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who physically held the bulb in place inside the assembly. After letting go of the bulb, the failure recurred. The local dealer and manufacturer were contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer notified the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 99V347002 (Exterior Lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The contact was then referred to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

From my Internet search using Google Gemini, (and Google AI has a disclaimer it can make errors), I have replaced my distributer on my 2000 Nissan Frontier three times now due to a stalling problem I have experienced on hot days. My 2000 Nissan Frontier is VIN [XXX] . I was driving home or not and it was raining. I turned the windshield wipers on. They were working to begin with but after a few minutes, they just quit working altogether. You could hear the motor running for the wiper, but they just wasn’t moving so I had to see it on the side of the road to it. Quit raining so I could make it home. and couldn’t find the part to fix the windshield wipers so my boyfriend has rigged it to where it would work

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER. IN MAY OF 2003, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE WAS CORRODED. SHE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND IT LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LINE AND THE MUFFLER. IN 2006, THE DEALER REPLACED THE CALIPER, ROTORS, AND THE BRAKE LINE FOR A SECOND TIME. IN NOVEMBER OF 2007, THE DEALER REPLACED THE GAS TANK DUE TO CORROSION. IN NOVEMBER OF 2008, THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MAJOR CORROSION TO ALL UNDERCARRIAGE COMPARTMENTS THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT BE REPAIRED. THERE WAS A 90% CHANCE THAT SHE WILL LOSE HER LEFT EYE, AND ABOUT 15% THAT SHE MAY LOSE HER RIGHT EYE. THE FUEL GAGE WOULD READ BETWEEN 1/2 AND 1/4 TANK. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT PICK UP FUEL IN THE TANK THUS THE MOTER WOULD SHUT OFF. THIS OCCURED FOUR TIME ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS, ( 58 IN CALF, 15 IN LAS VEGAS, 40 IN ARIZONA). THE TRUCK WAS IN THE DEALER FOUR TIMES, UPON THE FIFTH OCCURANCE THE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF LIFE, DUE TO A CLASS 3 ACCIDENT, IS TOO GREAT. THE RUNNING OUT OF GAS OCCURED IN TRAFIC AND WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS BEHIND US. I'M JUST GLAD THEY LOCKED UP THERE BRAKES AND WE WERE NOT HIT AND KILLED.
