THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AFTER IT HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON HIGHWAY. AFTER GETTING OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND PUSHING IT TO THE SIDE, THE VEHICLE FINALLY DROVE AWAY. MY NISSAN MURANO SL HAD 35K MILES WHEN PURCHASED. COMPLAINED 5 TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT GROANING NOISE AND MAJOR OIL LEAK. MAJOR VIBRATIONS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AND PULLED OVER SO I COULDN'T DRIVE ANYMORE. BURNING SMELL OF OIL THAT WAS LEAKING FOR MONTHS AND WAS NOT NOTICED BY CERTIFIED MECHANICS. ALSO BUCKING MOTIONS. Driver seat front left side has a rocking motion to it. I’ve read a lot of others have found this issue was supposed to be fixed from 2003-2004 and the parts have been updated to address the issue. I am worried my seat movement will create an unsafe driving condition.

I WAS TURNING ON A HIGHWAY LOOP AND I'M SHORT SO I HAD THE SEAT ALL THE WAY UP TO BE ABLE TO SEE. WHEN I STARTED TURNING THERE WAS A BUNCH OF CARS BEHIND ME AND THE BACK OF THE SEAT MADE A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND I HIT MY HEAD ON THE WINDOW BECAUSE THE BACK RIGHT OF IT GAVE OUT. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND GOT MY SELF TOGETHER. THIS HAPPENED TO ANOTHER COWORKER WITH ANOTHER NISSAN MURANO BUT SHE HAD LESS PROBLEMS SINCE SHE'S A TALL WOMAN AND WHEN THE SEAT BROKE IT DIDN'T GO ALL THE WAY DOWN. LOOKING AT THE SEAT THE BACK RIGHT OF IT HAS A BIG METAL BAR PIECE THAT SNAPPED. IT NO LONGER GOES ALL THE WAY UP MAKING IT A HAZARD TO DRIVE WITHOUT GETTING IT FIXED. * DSY

ON MARCH 29, 2018 I SAT DOWN IN MY CAR AND FELT THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVE DOWNWARD FOR THE FIRST TIME. WHEN I GOT HOME I EXITED THE CAR AND GOT BACK IN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING BEING BROKEN OR OUT OF PLACE PRIOR TO THE 29TH OF MARCH. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, NOR HAS ANY ONE DRIVEN MY CAR BESIDES MYSELF. AS OF TODAY (APRIL 2, 2018) I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A MECHANIC FOR AN ESTIMATE AND WILL CHECK WITH ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP ON APRIL 3, 2018.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING THE ABS AND BATTERIES WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT LOST POWER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE WIRES TO THE ALTERNATOR HAD MELTED AND THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP TODAY BECAUSE THE DOORS ARE NOT LOCKING OR UNLOCKING. MY HATCH ONLY WORKS SOME OF THE TIME AS WELL. I FOUND OUT THAT THE ACTUACTOR IS OUT ON ALL THE DOORS. THIS IS CRAZY ARE OUT ON A CAR THAT ONLY HAS 79K MILES ON IT AND IS 11 YEARS OLD. THE COST WILL BE ABOUT 2K TO GET FIXED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I HAVE THREE SMALL KIDS. HAVING TO THEM STAND OUTSIDE WHILE I CLIMB INSIDE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS IS UNSSAFE. IF I LEAVE THE CAR UNLOCKED AT NIGHT WHEN WE ARE OUT, THAT LEAVES US VULNERABLE FOR SOMEONE ENTERING THE CAR AND HIDING IN IT UNTIL WE RETURN. YESTERDAY AFTER WORK, I OPENED THE HATCH TO THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE TO REMOVE JUMPER CABLES. WHEN I WENT TO CLOSE THE HATCH DOOR, IT WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. I LOOKED CLOSER AT THE MECHANISM THAT LOCKS THE DOOR IN THE CLOSED POSITION, AND IT WAS NOT MOVING BACK INTO THE PROPER POSITION. ALL 4 "DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS" ON MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO ARE DEFECTIVE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY AND MEANS THAT THE DOOR LOCK WILL RANDOMLY NOT UNLOCK OR LOCK. ONLY THE DRIVER DOOR HAS A KEY LOCK- MEANING THAT FOR EACH OTHER DOOR, THE DOORS MUST BE LOCKED FROM WITHIN IF THE LOCK ACTUATOR IS NOT WORKING OR ACTING UP. FOR EXAMPLE, IF A CAR DOOR IS NOT OPENING, AND YOU UNLOCK IT FROM WITHIN THE CAR, THEN CLOSE THE DOOR, AND PRESS "LOCK" ON YOUR KEY-CHAIN, THAT CAR DOOR WILL STILL HAVE NOT LOCKED. THE CAR DOOR LOCK STOPS RESPONDING, AND CAN ONLY BE DONE MANUALLY INTERNALLY. I SPOKE TO NISSAN A YEAR AGO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY INDICATED THAT EACH DOOR WOULD BE $400 TO FIX, MEANING $1600 ALTOGETHER. RESEARCH HAS INDICATED TO ME THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON NISSAN PROBLEM AND THAT NONE OF THE DEALERSHIPS ARE DOING ANYTHING TO HELP THE CONSUMER- OTHER THAN INDICATING THE LARGE PRICE TAG. THIS ISSUE DIRECTLY AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF THE PRODUCT- BECAUSE IT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHETHER THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY LOCKED, UNLESS THE OWNER PHYSICALLY WALKS AROUND THE CAR AND CHECKS EACH DOOR- AND THEN LOCKS THE DOOR MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN RESIDENTIAL AREA, IT SOUNDED LIKE METAL WAS GRINDING THE VEHICLE FILLED WITH SMOKE, AND .COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AS IT WAS UNABLE TO FUNCTION. AS SOON AS THE MECHANIC TURNED ON THE CAR HE STATED IT WAS THE TRANSFER CASE. FROM MY RESEARCH THE TRANSFER CASE IS CONNECTED TO THE TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS THE FRONT AND REAR AXLES BY MEANS OF DRIVE SHAFT.THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE, IF I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A TERRIBLE CAR CRASH. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND THE COST OF REPAIR WAS $3,800.00. THIS SIS RIDICULOUS. NISSAN SHOULD DO A RECALL ON THIS PART. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE IN THE SAME MAKE/MODEL AND YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE.SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PART ITS VERY DANGEROUS. MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO SE JUST RECENTLY PASSED 115,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN NOTICING A LACK OF POWER, SOME ODD/VARIOUS NOISES AND JUST RECENTLY SAW A PUFF OF SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST. SHORTLY AFTER, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD THE CODE VERIFIED AT ADVANCE AUTO. CATALYTIC SYSTEM FAILURE ON ONE OF THE BANKS. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IS EXTREMELY COMMON WITH NISSAN VEHICLES UTILIZING THE VQ ENGINE AND TYPICALLY RESULTS IN BACKFLOW OF CATALYST MATERIAL INTO THE ENGINE WHICH IN TURN CAUSES CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE PISTONS AND PISTON RINGS. REPLACEMENT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS IS HIGHLY DIFFICULT AND GENERALLY COSTS AROUND $2,500 AT A DEALER. PARTS ALONE WILL COST IN EXCESS OF $600 FOR AFTERMARKET AND $1,600 FOR OEM. THIS ISSUE GENERALLY HAPPENS BETWEEN 80K AND 120K MILES ON ALMOST EVERY ALTIMA, MAXIMA AND MURANO AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE FORUMS IN WHICH VARIOUS OWNERS DISCUSS THIS MATTER IN GRAVE DETAIL. I’ve changed the timing belt, brakes, batteries, fuel injectors and all and still after thirty minutes of me driving Nissan Murano 2004 I have to continuously push on the gas to get the car to move . My car always has a smell of burning rubber after a long period of time driving it . I then pull over for 20/25 minutes to let the car reset or cool down I guess and then when I turn it on it drives ok until the next 25/30 minutes go by. I’ve gotten two alternators brand new and I’m still having the same issues . When I slow down to come to a full stop it feels like my car is jerking on a chain slowly. When I put the car in neutral to come to a stop it doesn’t make the car tremble . I hope and pray I can get some answers or help to guide me in the right direction . I’ve spent over $2000 in labor to this car to still have the same problem.

I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME, ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH. WHEN IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN EVEN WHEN I WAS STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR. THEN IT SUDDENLY STARTED TO WORK AGAIN PROPERLY. MY HOME WAS 20 MIN OR SO FROM WHERE I STARTED DRIVING. THE PRESSURE HOSE OF THE POWER STEERING IS LEAKING EXTENSIVELY, TO THE POINT WHERE IT REQUIRED THE RESERVOIR TO BE REFILLED AN ABOUT 10 DAYS. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, THE POWER STEERING FLUID CAN BE SEEN DRIPPING ONTO THE EXHAUST, CREATING SMOKE AND A BURNING SMELL WHEN OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE PROBABLY BEGAN SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY LEAKING OIL FROM THE UPPER OIL PAN (THE ALUMINUM SHROUD AROUND THE CRANK). ONCE THE UPPER OIL PAN LEAK WAS FIXED, THE PS PRESSURE HOSE LEAK BECAME MORE EVIDENT. APPARENTLY, THIS PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE JUST RECENTLY, BECAUSE I ADDED SOME FLUID TO THE PS RESERVOIR WHEN I FIXED THE UPPER OIL PAN, AND MUCH OF THIS REPLACED FLUID DRAINED OUT WITHIN THE FOLLOWING 10 DAYS. IN 2006 WE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ABOUT NISSAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL TANK. WE HAD THE PROTECTION GUARD INSTALLED BY NISSAN AS PER NHTSA RECALL. IN APRIL 2011 WE WERE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND HIT SOMETHING SMALL IN THE ROAD THAT PUNCTURED THE FUEL TANK. THE ITEM WAS SO SMALL NO ONE IN THE CAR SAW IT. ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH BOTH NISSAN AND THE NHTSA CONCERNING A PUNCTURED FUEL TANK. ON JUNE 29, 2006, I LEARNED THAT NHTSA HAD CLOSED THE MATTER ON JANUARY 31, 2006, WITH A REQUIREMENT THAT NISSAN CORRECT THE DEFICIENCY THROUGH A RECALL CAMPAIGN. I CONFIRMED WITH A NHTSA REPRESENTATIVE THAT SUCH A CAMPAIGN HAD BEEN INITIATED BY NISSAN. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN. I PURCHASED A USED 2004 NISSAN MURANO IN AUGUST 2013 AS IS, AND UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I TRANSPORT DISABLED PEOPLE IN MY VEHICLE, AS PART OF MY JOB. MY REAR CRADLE SUBFRAME CROSSMEMBER BOLTS ARE RUSTED AND HAVE SNAPED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT I HEARD IT POP AND PULLED OVER, THE METAL USED ON THE REAR CRADLE WAS POORLY MADE AND IS A HIGH DANGER RISK IF I WOULD HAVE PULLED OVER IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A REALLY BAD ACCIDENT FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS THIS ISSUE NEEDS ADDRESSED HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER WHO OWN THIS SAME VEHICLE AND THEY ALL ARE HAVING THE SET ISSUE WITH THE REAR CRADLE SUBFRAME CROSSMEMBER THEY ARE RUSTING OUT SOME DOESN'T HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS AND ARE DRIVING THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP. WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF ACCELERATING MY VEHICLE FROM A STOP, I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE, I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS OUT OF GEAR FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT IT DID NOT RESPOND WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR; CLEARLY THAT WAS NOT THE CASE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. HOWEVER, I PUSHED ON IT AGAIN AN IT WAS BIG JERK BEFORE THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD.... WENT TO TAKE OFF AND WOULDN'T EVEN REV UP, I HAD A BABY AND A SMALL CHILD IN MY CAR, CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO GO UP ON SIDEWALK IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING ME. THIS IS NOW HAVE HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN IT HAPPENS I HAVE TO FLOOR IT FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS BEFORE IT ENGAGES THE THROTTLE. WHEN DRIVING MY NISSAN MURANO ESPECIALLY ON HOT DAYS/IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE FAILS TO RESPOND TO THE DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN IT HAPPENS (4X/WEEK), THE VEHICLE WILL BE AT A COMPLETE STOP & NOT BEGIN TO ACCELERATE AFTER DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR UNTIL AROUND 3K RPMS. AFTER BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE WITHOUT A PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED IT'S SLIGHT HESITATION WHILE IN DRIVE, BUT THEN LURCHED FORWARD AT ~3K RPMS, AND ACQUIRED THE DESIRED SPEED AND MANUEVERS. AFTER WAITING AT THE LIGHT JUST OUTSIDE OF THE PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE DEPRESSION OF THE ACCELERATOR IN THE FORM OF MOVEMENT. THAT IS, THE ENGINE WOULD REV TO AS MUCH AS 5K RPMS, BUT NOT MOVE MORE THE .5-1MPH. THE USUAL CYCLING OF THE ENGINE OFF & THEN ON, WOULD NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHILE ON A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE TOOK A VERY LONG TIME TO ACCELERATE AT LEAST AFTER 10 SECONDS. THIS CAR IS OWNED BY MY WIFE, THANK GOD SHE WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS. I TOOK IT DO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS ON THESE MURANOS' MOSTLY BETWEEN 2003-2005. THIS SHOULD BE A MUST RECALL AS THIS CAN BE A VERY DRASTIC SAFETY ISSUE AND FLAW DESIGN ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS. IN ORDER TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM MY FAMILY IS LOOKING BETWEEN $2400 TO $3000 ON REPAIRS. I UNDERSTAND BY REVIEWING MANY WEB SITES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO NUMERUS NISSAN OWNERS. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE KILLED BEFORE A RECALL OR A WARNING IS INITIATED? IT APPEARS NISSAN HAS WASHED THEIR HANDS OF THESE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS AS WELL AS THE BROKEN DRIVER SEAT BRACKETS AND REAR DISC BREAK SLID PINS THAT FREEZE UP AND CAUSE THE CALIPER TO HEAT UP, REAR WHEELS AND ULTIMATELY THE TIRES. The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted on the first attempt occasionally; however, several attempts were needed to start the vehicle on other occasions. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while at a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. An unknown dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the accelerator pedal had been discontinued. The contact stated that the independent mechanic replaced the accelerator pedal with a part purchased from a junkyard; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

I CONTACTED NISSAN ON 12/20/17 AFTER I DROVE MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO (PURCHASED 8/18) AND I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK AS MY SON AND I WERE ON A COLLEGE TOUR. I DROVE THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND WHEN I SHOWED HIM THE PROBLEM, HE WONDERED HOW I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR WHEN THE BACK WHEELS WERE "TOED" INWARD. HE PUT IT ON THE LIFT AND TOLD ME THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS DISINTEGRATED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 124,000 MILES ON IT. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY HAD ME TAKE THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE IT. IT WAS AS MY MECHANIC HAD SAID, THE REAR SUB FRAME WAS COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED BY RUST, UN-DRIVABLE. THE FRONT SUB FRAME IS TOTALLY FINE, NO RUST. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON MY OWN AND FROM ONE WEBSITE I HAVE FOUND APPROXIMATELY 10 OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEIR CARS; SOME THE SAME YEAR AND SAME MILEAGE. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS A STRANGE COINCIDENCE. I FEEL THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG BEYOND "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR". NISSAN REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT THERE IS A BIGGER PROBLEM AND THE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION THAT IS HAPPENING. SHE HAD A HARD TIME STEERING THE VEHICLE WHILE TRYING TO GET VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT THEN HIT A PARKED FLAT BED TRAILER, AND THE FRONT TIRES OF HER VEHICLE DROVE UP ON THE FLAT BED AND THE VEHICLE THE ROLLED OVER ON ITS SIDE LANDING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONTACT WAS DAZED AND WITNESSES CLIMBED UP ONTO THE VEHICLE TO GET HER OUT. THE CONTACT STATES THERE WAS FUEL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE, AND ONCE OUT OF VEHICLE SHE AND WITNESSES NOTICE THAT THE WHEELS OF THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TURNING AT A HIGH RATE WHILE ON IT SIDE. THE CONTACT STATES THAT ONE OF THE WITNESSES CLIMBED ONTO THE VEHICLE AND SHUT THE IGNITION OFF BUT COULDN'T GET KEY OUT OF IGNITION. THE POLICE WAS CALLED AND A REPORT FILED AND PICTURES WERE TAKEN. FUEL TANK PROTECTOR 2004 MURANO: THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND A PLASTIC FUEL TANK PROTECTOR WAS ADDED. THIS REPAIR REDUCES THE GROUND CLEARANCE AND THE HAS BROKEN TWICE ON MY 2004 MURANO. ANY ROAD DEBRIS IS LIKELY TO HIT THIS LOW POINT ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD INSPECT THESE REGULARLY OR COME UP WITH A BETTER FIX. ONE CAN GUESS THAT THERE ARE VEHICLES THAT HAD THE PROTECTOR ADDED AND THAT PROTECTOR HAS SUBSEQUENTLY BEEN BROKEN AND FALLEN OFF. DUE TO A RECALL A PLASTIC SHIELD WAS INSTALLED A FEW YEARS AGO BY DEALER TO PROTECT THE FUEL TANK FROM ROAD DEBRIS. SOMETHING MUST HAVE HIT THE SHIELD CAUSING FOUR OF THE 6 PLASTIC FASTENERS TO BREAK OFF OR FAIL DUE TO AGE. THE SHIELD WAS DANGLING ON PASSENGER SIDE. I PURCHASED AND INSTALLED REPLACEMENT FASTENERS. MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING OUR VEHICLE AND WERE AT A LIGHT. OUR VEHICLE SHOOK VERY HARD WHEN I APPLIED THE GAS. CAR WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 5 MILES AND HOUR. THEY SAID ACID LEAKED FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE BATTERY ONTO THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE TECH., THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE. MY 8 YEAR OLD SON WAS RIDING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK SEAT ON ROAD TRIP FROM ATLANTA TO TAMPA. HE BEGAN COMPLAINING HIS SEAT BELT WOULD WAS STUCK, AND WITHIN A MINUTE BEGAN TO PANIC AS IT CONTINUED TO TIGHTEN EACH TIME HE MOVED. I GLANCED BACK TO SEE HE HAD TROUBLE BREATHING BECAUSE THE BELT SO TIGHT AGAINST HIS STOMACH THAT HIS SKIN AND FAT WAS FOLDED AROUND BELT. I MADE EMERGENCY EXIT AND RAN IN STORE FOR SCISSORS. THEY DID NOT HAVE, BUT HAD A KNIFE I WAS ABLE TO CUT IT IN TIME. HIS STOMACH WAS RED AND SORE. HE WAS VERY SCARED. NOW I CARRY A TOOL TO CUT BELTS. I FILED REPORT WITH NISSAN, AND THEY WOULD NOT PAY TO REPLACE IT. I PAID TO REPLACE IT AND THEY ORDERED 3 SEAT BELTS PARTS AND ALL WERE FAULTY AND THEY COULD NOT INSTALL. THEY MANUFACTURED ANOTHER PART AND INSTALLED IT. THESE BELTS ARE FAULTY AND COULD KILL PEOPLE. THERE SHOULD BE SOME EMERGENCY RELEASE TO PREVENT THIS. SINCE A CAR DOES NOT COME WITH A KNIFE OR SCISSORS, AND FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN WOULD NOT LEAVE EITHER IN A REACHABLE PLACE, THE CAR NEEDS TO HAVE WAY TO ALLOW A PARENT TO RESCUE CHILD FROM A FAULTY LOCKING SEAT BELT. NHTSA SHOULD REQUIRE RELEASE MECHANISM IN CARS AND HAVE NISSAN RECALL / REPLACE ALL FAULTY SEATBELTS REGARDLESS YEAR OR MILEAGE. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME INCIDENT MY FAMILY AND I EXPERIENCED. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL REGARDING THIS MATTER. IN ADDITION, TO THAT THE ACTUATORS ON BOTH PASSENGER DOORS (FRONT AND BACK) DOESN'T WORK, IT HAS TO BE LOCKED MANUALLY. ALSO, THE HATCH LOCK DOESN'T LOCK THE HANDLE GETS STUCK.

MY 2004 MURANO HAD A LOT OF STALLING AND STOPPING, PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATING THE CAR. IT STOP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. FLUID LEAKING, FROM ENGINE AND FUEL TANK, AND STEERING COLUMN. POWER STEERING IS RIGID,AND LOCKS, AND CAR STOPS WHEN TURNING.THE WINDOWS WENT UP AND DOWN UNCONTROLLABLE. POWER CONTROL PANEL , DID NOT FUNCTION. NISSAN INSISTED THAT VEHICLE IS OLD. I THINK THE CAR IS POSSESSED. ALL OF THESES THINGS OCCURRED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION DRIVING THE CAR ON HIGHWAY, THE ROADS, STATIONERY, AND ESPECIALLY TURNING, AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE CAR, AND IT WOULD THEN COMPLETELY TURN OFF, NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY THING IS WRONG. THEY STATED WHAT DO YOU EXPECT AFTER BUYING A CAR THIS OLD. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE MY CAR IS SAFE BY YOUR STANDARDS NOT THEIRS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PULLING OFF FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE AND CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR WHIPLASH THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ALSO, THE FRONT AND REAR CAMSHAFT SENSORS AND ALTERNATOR WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT, ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND RESTARTED. I OWN A NISSAN MURANO AND IN MAY 08 DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING WE HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. WE MANAGED TO PULL OVER, STOPPED THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED IT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT WE WERE GOING OUT OF TOWN AND CAR DROVE FINE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON 9/6/08 AND TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THEY CLAIM IT WAS A WIRING PROBLEM TO THE THROTTLE CONNECTION AND REPAIRED IT AND ASSURED ME THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. DRIVING HOME ON AN EXTREMELY BUSY FREEWAY IN RUSH HOUR IT HAPPENED AGAIN, TODAY 9/25 AND THIS TIME THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID ME BUT I WAS NEAR MY EXIT AND CRUISED TO A STOP. I WAS QUITE SHAKEN. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND IT STARTED AGAIN AND IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY STILL HAVE IT AND ARE CHECKING IT. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN ON THE HIGH WAY AT 50 MPH, WHEN IT STARTED TO DECELERATE AND WOULD ONLY GO OVER A MAX SPEED OF 30 MPH. EVEN WITH ACCELERATION, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH. IDLER PULLEY AND BRACKET DESIGN DEFAULT. I JUST TOOK MY CAR IN AFTER AN ALL OF THE SUDDEN CLANGING NOISE - AT 35,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP THAT I REQUIRED A NEW IDLER PULLEY AND BRACKET. APPARENTLY IT WAS BROKEN. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN DEFAULT AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. GAS TANK PLACEMENT AND DESIGN IS POORLY ENGINEERED, PROMOTING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR CATASTROPHIC INCIDENTS WHEN THE DRIVER IS NOT AT FAULT. DEATH TO INNOCENT VICTIMS CAN OCCUR WITH NO COLLISION IN NEAR IDEAL CONDITIONS. *AK SPECIFICALLY, THE DESIGN OF THE GAS TANK AND EXPOSURE TO ROAD HAZARDS IS A MAJOR SAFETY FLAW. THE GAS TANK IS PLASTIC (NOT UNUSUAL TODAY) AND OPEN TO OBJECTS THAT CAN FLY OFF THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL. THE FRONT OF THE GAS TANK IS OPENLY EXPOSED, WITH NO PROTECTION TO PREVENT THE PUNCTURE OF THE GAS TANK, UNKNOWING TO THE DRIVER, LEADING TO POTENTIAL DEATH. MY PARTICULAR INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE TURNING LEFT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. I HEARD A SUDDEN NOISE, LIKE SOMETHING LARGE WAS ROLLING AROUND IN THE CARGO AREA AND BANGED AGAINST THE SIDE, BUT WE HAD NO CARGO. I STOPPED AND SURVEYED THE CAR TO FIND A PIECE OF REBAR ABOUT 2' LONG HANGING DOWN UNDER THE CAR, JUST IN FRONT OF THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION THE REBAR WAS STICKING OUT OF THE SIDE OF THE GAS TANK, LEAKING GAS. AFTER EVALUATING WHAT LOOKED TO BE A FREAK INCIDENT, ONLY 5 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW CAR, IT BECAME APPARENT HOW POOR THE DESIGN WAS, SIMPLY FROM THE PLACEMENT OF THE GAS TANK, AND IT'S EXPOSURE. I CONCLUDED THIS WASN'T SUCH A FREAK INCIDENT, GIVEN THE OPEN TARGET THE GAS TANK IS TO ROAD DEBRIS. SOMEBODY'S GOING TO DIE SOMEDAY BECAUSE OF THE POOR DESIGN UNLESS THE MANUFACTURER FIXES THIS. IT'S SIMPLY A BAD DESIGN THAT COULD EASILY BE FIXED WITH A PIECE OF SHEET METAL TO COVER THE OPEN CAVITY UNDER THE CAR THAT MAKES THE FRONT SIDE OF THE GAS TANK A PERFECT TARGET FOR ROCKS, METAL, PARKING BERMS, ETC. I GUARANTEE THIS WILL NOT BE THE ONLY COMPLAINT ABOUT THE OPEN EXPOSURE TO THIS GAS TANK IN THE NISSAN MURANO. I'M A PRETTY SAFE DRIVER, AND I'VE NEVER HAD SUCH A THING HAPPEN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN MURANO. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM INDICATED THAT THE TIRES BECAME FLAT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS AT 36 DEGREES OR BELOW. THE LOWER THE TEMPERATURE, THE MORE THE SYSTEM WOULD INDICATE THAT THE PRESSURE WAS LOW ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED HER ADD AIR TO THE TIRE UNTIL IT REACHED 38 PSI. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINEERS HAD NOT ADDRESSED THE ISSUE AND TO OVER INFLATE THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,600. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.

GAS MILEAGE AS STATED ON VEHICLE WINDOW STICKER GROSSLY EXAGGERATED WHEN COMPARED TO ACTUAL MILEAGE. CAR ALSO HAD 243 MILES ON ODOMETER AT DELIVERY. WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT THIS THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAR WAS A SWAPPED VEHICLE THAT CAME FROM A DEALER IN MASSACHUSETTS. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE AMOUNT OF MILEAGE ON THE CAR UNTIL I LOOKED AT THE ODOMETER UPON PICK UP. THERE ARE OVER 240 MILES ON THIS CAR THAT ARE MOST CRUCIAL IN THE BREAK IN OF AN ENGINE. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS CAR WAS DRIVEN DURING THOSE MILES AND SUSPECT THAT IT MAY HAVE NOT BEEN DRIVEN WITH THE CARE THAT I WOULD HAVE. I HAVE PLACED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING FUEL MILEAGE WITH BOTH NISSAN USA AND BIENER NISSAN. TO DATE I HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR TIRES OF THIS VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 500 MILES. BOTH REAR TIRES WERE PROGRESSIVELY BALDING FROM THE CENTER LINE OF THE TIRE TO THE INSIDE SHOULDER OF EACH TIRE, TO THE POINT WHERE THE RADIAL BELT WAS EXPOSED AT POINTS OF THE SHOULDER. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE DOT NUMBERS DID NOT MATCH WITH THE FRONT TIRES AND THAT SOMEONE HAD SWITCHED THEM IN. ON THE EVENING OF AUG 4, 2004, I WAS DRIVING HOME, NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY AND BRAKE LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED ON MY NEW (6500 MILES) NISSAN MURANO. I PLANNED TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER THE NEXT DAY, AS SOON AS I COMPLETED TWO UNCHANGEABLE APPOINTMENTS. AS I STARTED TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT ON THE SECOND APPOINTMENT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND MY HUSBAND, WHO CAME TO GET ME. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. DIAGNOSIS: FAILED ALTERNATOR. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WAS NOT HAPPY. THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART, AND THE REPAIR WAS FINISHED ON THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY, AUG 10. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD 4 OR SO FAILED ALTERNATORS, AND DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY NISSAN HAD NOT RECALLED THE VEHICLES. THE REPAIR HAS BEEN FINE, THE DEALERSHIP LOANED ME A VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH I BOUGHT IT OUT OF TOWN. THEN I STARTED TO CHECK THE INTERNET, AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF ALTERNATOR FAILURES. THE STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY HARD ALL OF A SUDDEN DURING DRIVING. AND EVER SINCE THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT (ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE) TO MAKE A BIG TURN, ON EITHER SIDE. THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOORS; USING THE REMOTE, USING THE KEY AND USING THE INTERIOR LOCKS. THE REMOTE DOES NOT LOCK NOR UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S NOR THE FRONT PASSENGER DOORS. THE KEY, WHICH CAN ONLY BE USED IN THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK, WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK ALL DOORS EXCEPT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE INTERIOR LOCKING MECHANISM LOCATED ON THE DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK NOR LOCK THE FRONT DRIVER'S NOR THE PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. AT THIS TIME THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOORS IS TO REACH OVER AND USE THE INTERIOR HANDLE. ONCE THE FRONT DOORS ARE UNLOCKED THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THEM IS TO MANUALLY MOVE THE LOCKING SWITCH TO THE LOCKED POSITION. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE AFFECTED HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF NISSAN MURANO'S THE INABILITY TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE FRONT DOORS IS CRITICAL TO THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS. THE DRIVER CANNOT LOCK THE FRONT DOORS, WHICH IS PARAMOUNT WHEN A CHILD IS RIDING IN THE CAR. NOT LOCKING THE DOORS CAN BE CRITICAL IN THE EVENT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT. IT IS A WELL KNOWN FACT THAT THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT IS IN THE CAR AND THE INABILITY OF THE DRIVER TO INSURE THAT ALL DOORS ARE LOCKED IS CRITICAL TO EVERYONE'S SAFETY. I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY TO A NEAR HIGHWAY WITH MY TWO CHILDREN, AND I HEARD A SMALL KNOCKING NOISE. I SLOWED DOWN TO A NEAR PARKING LOT, BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ENGINE COVER THAT WAS LOOSE, BUT THE VEHICLE CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. WHEN I HAD IT TOWED, AFTER MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND, I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE TRANSFER CASE. NISSAN OFFERS A WARRANTY FOR THE CVT TRANSMISSION (DUE TO KNOWN FAILURES WITH IT) THAT COVERS 10 YEARS 120,000 MILES, BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE TRANSFER CASE (WHICH IS ANOTHER KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 03 04 MURANO MODELS). IT COST $3,178 TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP (WHICH I HAD DONE). WHEN LOOKING FOR THIS PART THERE IS A VAST INCREASE IN PRICE BETWEEN THE 03 04 MODEL IN COMPARISON TO ANY OTHER MODEL, BECAUSE THERE IS SUCH A HIGHER DEMAND FOR THIS PARTICULAR PART (WHICH INDICATES THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH THESE MODELS). I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE SEALS FROM THE TRANSMISSION WERE LEAKING, HENCE WHY IT BROKE. THE PROBLEM IS, THAT I WAS AT THAT SAME DEALERSHIP NOT TOO LONG BEFORE DUE TO AN ALTERNATOR PROBLEM, AND THEY GAVE ME A LIST OF PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE WHICH INCLUDED: THE BELT, THE BELT TENSIONER, ALTERNATOR, WHEEL BEARING, AND REAR BRAKES, BUT NEVER MENTIONED LEAKING SEALS ON THE TRANSFER CASE. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY FACTORS INDICATING THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURING/ENGINEERING PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSFER CASE ON THESE TWO MODELS THAT WAS FIXED ON LATER MODELS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING VEHICLE. I ASKED NISSAN TO REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE OR GIVE ME SOME SORT OF SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AFTER THE LAST EXPERIENCE WITH IT, AND THEY DECLINED. NISSAN RECALL FOR 2004 MURANO AIR INTAKE SYSTEM. *NJ THE CONSUMER'S CHILDREN WERE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. WHEN THEY PULLED OUT OF A BUSY PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP AND THE NEXT DAY, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND A NEW ONE WOULD COST $6,000. ALSO THE DOOR LATCHES AND HATCH WERE INOPERATIVE. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS THE RESULT OF THE RECALL.

MY MURANO SUDDENLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE SAME EXACT DESCRIPTION OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR. I HAD TO TOW TO DEALER AND LUCKILY I STILL WAS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY SO IT WAS MOSTLY COVERED. CALLED NISSAN THIS MORNING AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED FOR MY VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006. OBVIOUSLY THEY DIDN'T LEARN FROM THEIR ORIGINAL MISTAKE. THEY SHOULD BE DOING REPAIR AGAIN FOR FREE AND PAYING FOR THE BATTERY THAT GOT FRIED IN THE PROCESS. *TR

I RAN OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF A MOUNTAIN ROAD HITTING A LARGE TREE WITH THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THEN CONTINUED DOWN THE HILL ANOTHER ~20 FEET SLAMMING INTO A BOULDER. WHEN I HIT THE TREE, THE DRIVER'S DOOR WINDOW BROKE AS WELL AS THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR. THE DOOR WAS JAMMED SHUT. THE NISSAN WAS EQUIPPED WITH FRONT SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS AND BOTH FRONT AND REAR HEAD PROTECTION AIRBAGS. NONE WERE DEPLOYED. WHEN I HIT THE BOULDER, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED, BUT THE DRIVER'S FRONT AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE PRE-TENSIONER ON THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT DID NOT LATCH RESULTING IN ME HITTING MY UPPER CHEST AND LOWER JAW ON THE STEERING WHEEL SINCE THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FUEL CUT-OFF DEVICE ALSO FAILED TO ACTIVATE AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER ALMOST A MINUTE, I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE WITH THE KEY. I HAD BEEN KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THE 2004 NISSAN MURANO SUSTAINED OVER $25,000 IN DAMAGE WHICH RESULTED IN IT BEING TOTALED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE BRIEFLY WHEN STARTING THE CAR PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. SO THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE FRONT AND UNDERCARRIAGE. MY INJURIES WERE LIMITED TO BRUISES TO MY CHEST AND LOWER JAW. THE ACCIDENT ALSO GREATLY AGGRAVATED A PRIOR INJURY TO MY UPPER BACK. WHEN I WENT TO GO REMOVE MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS FROM THE VEHICLE, I FOUND THAT THE JACK, MOUNTED IN THE REAR FLOOR HAD COME COMPLETELY OUT. *TR

I PUT THE BACK TAILGATE UP IN MY 2004 NISSAN MURANO TO PUT MY GRANDDAUGHTERS' BELONGINGS IN TO TAKE THEM HOME. I WALKED TO THE BACK SEAT AREA TO PUT SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT, WHEN I HEARD A HUGE WHOOSHING SOUND AND SUDDENLY THE ENTIRE DOOR SLAMMED DOWN. LUCKILY I WASN'T NEAR IT OR I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE DOOR IS VERY HEAVY AND IT SLAMMED DOWN WITH QUITE A FORCE. THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF A VAPORIZED NATURE IN THE CAR. NOW THE DOOR IS VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN AND REQUIRES BOTH HANDS TO DO SO. EVIDENTLY ONE OF THE HYDRAULIC STRUTS WENT OUT. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO ANYONE NEARBY. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER AND AM TAKING IT IN TODAY. THEY WERE VERY NON-COMMITTAL ABOUT IT BEING SOMETHING THEY WOULD REPAIR WITHOUT COST. THEY DID SAY IT WAS A VERY RARE OCCURRENCE. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS INCIDENT AND WANT TO REPORT IT. 2004 NISSAN MURANO FRONT DOOR LOCKED WHEN CONSUMER OPENED IT. CUSTOMER STATED THAT THE DOOR STAYED LOCKED WHEN SHE OPENED THE DOOR AND REMAINED LOCKED UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED ON A 95 DEGREE DAY, SHE HAD HER 5 MONTH OLD INFANT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN HER. HER INFANT STARTED TO CRY SO SHE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO CALM HER DOWN WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE TO RE-ENTER ON HER SON'S SIDE THE VEHICLE DOORS LOCKED AND WOULD NOT OPEN. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT SHE CALLED 911 AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OPENED THE VEHICLE BUT THE INFANT WAS CRYING HYSTERICALLY FOR 20 MINUTES AND LUCKILY THE CONSUMER HAD THE A/C BLOWING. THE CONSUMER STATED WOULD LIKE THE MANUFACTURER TO BE MADE AWARE OF THE DANGEROUS SITUATION AND TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE FIXING THE LIFE THREATENING DEFECT. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 25 MPH ON DRY NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED, AND WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN, AFTER TRAVELING 10 YARDS. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, AND DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CHECK ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE STALLING RECURRED A YEAR LATER ON 07/17/06 WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE METER. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. ON 10/24/06, THE PROBLEM RECURRED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, AND WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHO COULD NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE DUE TO LACK OF PARTS NEEDED FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHO DETERMINED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE, AND WAS REPLACED. THIS REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 TO 45 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD DOWN A STEEP DECLINE, BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOST CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE LANDED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE HOWEVER A THORACIC DISC FRACTURE AND A SEVER CUT ABOVE THE EYE WERE SUSTAINED BY THE OCCUPANTS. I HAVE A 2004 NISSAN MURANO I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AT 3000 MILES THE ENGINE BLEW AND NISSAN REPAIRED IT AND SPENT $14,000 TO REPAIR. NOW I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING NISSAN AND TELLING THEM THAT MY TIRES ARE BALD IN THE INSIDE FROM THE ENGINE BEING TAKEN OUT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ALIGN IT RIGHT AND I HAVE A FOUL SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE IN THE VEHICLE AND THAT THE ENGINE IS KNOCKING AGAIN. BUT INSTEAD THEY TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAD SPOKEN TO SOMEONE AT NISSAN OF STATEN ISLAND AND HE WAS VERY NASTY AND EVEN TOLD ME NOT TO BRING MY CAR THERE.
