The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, an unknown part on the driver's side front seat fractured, causing the seat to wobble. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

I bought the car not knowing that the seat bracket driver side was already broken the dealership would not do anything I looked into this and there are several thousands of other complaints on the same safety issue I'm only a hundred and fifteen pounds and I'm bouncing all over the place and I'm terrified I don't have the extra 2,000 $3,000 is going to cost to replace and this is a major thing it has happened several times this needs to be recalled now

The drivers seat frame is broken at the right rear lift arm. The seat frame is electrically adjustable. The seat wobbles causing the driver to move around at random. Loss of control of vehicle is possible as seat moves left and right as vehicle is being driven. As this just occurred within the past 24 hours it has not been inspected by anyone other than myself.

GOT INTO THE VEHICAL. WHILE ADJUSTING THE SEAT AND LEANING BACK, THE SEAT SLUMPED BACK AND TO THE LEFT. IT WOBBLES NOW. I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE SEAT IS NOT SOLID AND SHIFTS AROUND AS I DRIVE. MY WIFE IS DISABLED AND I AM A DISABLED MARINE COMBAT VETERAN. WE CANNOT AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE OR TO REPLACE WITH A NEW SEAT. MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPLACE THIS.

THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WILL NOT STAY IN THE UPWARD OR "NOT IN USE" POSITION. I CAN BE DRIVING AND IT WILL FALL DOWN BLOCKING MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. IN THE BEGINNING I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY MY CAR BUT AFTER RESEARCHING AND TALKING WITH DEALERSHIP IT IS A COMMON MALFUNCTION. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ARE AWARE BUT THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FIXED BY RECALL BECAUSE NISSAN HAS NOT GIVEN THEM THE "OKAY." IN ORDER TO FIX PROBLEM A NEW VISOR WOULD NEED TO BE INSTALLED WITH VISOR PART ALONE COSTING $200+. I CURRENTLY HAVE TO PULL OVER THE EXTENSION VISOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO HOLD UP THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR WILL STILL FALL DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES BLOCKING MY VISION AND AT TIMES AT VERY CRUCIAL MOMENTS. JUST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY OF 2016 THINKING IT WOULD BE A GOOD USED CAR. I WAS WRONG IT HAS 155,000 MILES ON IT. WE HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO THAT HAS HAD THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAIL REPEATEDLY SINCE WE'VE OWNED THE CAR. WHEN THE LOCKS FAIL, THE DOORS AND REAR HATCH CAN NOT BE OPENED OR LOCKED WITH EITHER THE REMOTE FOB OR THE ELECTRIC CONTROLS ON THE DOORS. THEY NEED TO BE OPENED MANUALLY BY RELEASING THE LOCKING LEVER BY HAND. OFTEN WHEN THEY FAIL THE REAR HATCH CAN NOT BE OPENED BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A MANUAL RELEASE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS STYLE OF DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS DEEMED THE REPAIR OUT OF WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND EVER SINCE. THE INDIVIDUAL ACTUATOR FOR EACH DOOR APPROACHES $500 IN COST. THEY'VE ADVISED TO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM, BUY A NEW VEHICLE WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF INTERNET COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. GENERAL MOTORS IGNORED THEIR PROBLEMS FOR YEARS AND NISSAN IS EFFECTIVELY IGNORING THIS PROBLEM. 2005 MURANO PURCHASED 6 YRS AGO HAS 67,000 MI ON IT. HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY BUT HAS STARTED BURNING OIL. HAVE KEPT UP ON REGULAR MAINTENANCE BUT WAS LAX THIS TIME. CAR WENT 5,000 MI BEFORE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH SMOKE FROM EXHAUST AND PINGING NOISE. TOOK TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL WAS 3 1/2 QTS LOW. MY MECHANIC THINKS I MIGHT NEED TO REBUILD THE ENGINE OR BUY NEW. HE WILL CHECK IT IN A WEEK TO SEE IF IT'S STILL BURNING OIL. HE CHANGED THE OIL AND WANTS TO MONITOR IT BEFORE WE MAKE THE DECISION TO DO ADDITIONAL WORK. I NEVER HAD ANY INDICATION THAT IT WAS LOW ON OIL. REAR HATCH DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK. I TOOK THEM CAR TO THE SELLING AGENCY AND WAS CHARGED APPROXIMATELY 500 DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE LOCK. IT WORKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS AND THE PROBLEM AROSE AGAIN. THEY AGENCY STATED THAT THEY HAD TO CHARGE ME AN ADDITIONAL 120 DOLLARS JUST TO CHECK OUT THEIR PROBLEM. I DIDN'T PURSUE THE FIX BECAUSE I THOUGHT THEY INSPECTION FEE WAS UNWARRANTED. THEY SITUATION REMAINS.

AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE AS AN OUT OF BALANCE CONDITION. I HAD THE TIRES RE-BALANCED AND COULD NOT RESOLVE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING. DID NOT DO ANY HIGHWAY DRIVING FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. PRIOR TO GOING ON VACATION I HAD TIRES RE-BALANCED, DURING THE HIGHWAY DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING WAS AGAIN VISIBLE AND COULD ALSO BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS REPLACED WITH NO RESOLVE OF THE SHAKING STEERING WHEEL. TIRE DEALER REPLACED TIRES AT A COST TO ME OF $400.00. BACK TO CAR DEALERSHIP, REPLACED TIRE ROD END THAT COULD BE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM ON THE DRIVE HOME STEERING WHEEL SHAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65 MPH. BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHO HAD TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS TEST DRIVE THE CAR AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE SHAKING, THEY MUST HAVE HELD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL WITH A GORILLA GRIP. I HAVE A SHORT VIDEO OF THIS SHAKING STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE DONE ENOUGH RESEARCH ONLINE TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A DEFECT FOR THE NISSAN MURANO FOR THE YEARS THAT INCLUDE THE 2005. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE RODE WITH THE SEAT ABLE TO MOVE SO FREELY. WHILE BOARDING MY CAR DRIVER SEAT BROKE AND ALSO THE DAMAGE TRIGGERED THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO POP SINCE THE DRIVER SEAT IS LINKED TO AIR BAG.

IN 2013 I HAD TO HAVE MY DRIVER SEAT BRACKET WELDED DUE TO IT BREAKING. MY AIRBAG LIGHTS FLASH CONTINUOUSLY SINCE ABOUT 2006 AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR, ALSO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN GOES OFF. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT COULD BE SEVERAL THINGS FROM CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO AN EXHAUST ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD BE TRIAL AND ERROR TO FIGURE OUT WHICH WOULD REMY THE PROBLEM. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN MURANO THAT I BOUGHT USED FROM CARMAX IN 2007. I HAVE HAD REGULAR SERVICE PERFORMED BY AN ASCE CERTIFIED MECHANIC SINCE THEN. ON 5/18/10 AT LESS THAN 45K MI, THE BASE OF MY DRIVER SEAT SUDDENLY BROKE ONE MORNING WHEN I GOT INTO THE CAR (PARKED IN MY GARAGE). I WEIGH <120 LBS AND WAS STUNNED. IT WAS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY, SO I HAD IT REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY (5/20) THROUGH MY REGULAR MECHANIC. TOTAL COST WAS $942.66 ($742.08 FOR THE PART & $127.50 FOR LABOR). I WAS EXTREMELY UPSET ABOUT BEING FORCED TO PAY SO MUCH FOR SOMETHING BEYOND MY CONTROL. EVERYONE AGREED THAT IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED, EVEN MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED IT WAS CLASSIFIED AS A MECHANICAL DEFECT, CHECKED RECALLS (NONE), AND SUGGESTED I CALL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS SPECIFICALLY TO REQUEST GOODWILL ASSISTANCE (COMPENSATION FOR REPAIRS). NISSAN MURANO VIN-[XXX] - DRIVER SIDE FRONT SEAT REAR FRAME DEFECT MY VEHICLE DRIVER SIDE REAR SEAT FRAME BROKE ON 06/19/2010 APPROXIMATELY AROUND NOONTIME. AS I WAS DRIVING MY MURANO NISSAN AND CAME TO A STOP AT A STOPLIGHT, I HEARD A HARD SNAP AND FELT A LITTLE JERK TOWARDS MY LEFT SIDE. UNSURE OF WHAT IT WAS, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD. AS I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE, I FELT A ROUGH THUMPING UNDERNEATH MY SEAT. I THOUGHT FOR A MINUTE THAT MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS GOING FLAT OR HAD SOME KIND OF PROBLEM. AS I DROVE FURTHER TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER TO CHECK IT, I FELT MY FRONT SEAT SWAY BACK AND FORTH, AS I ACCELERATED AND AS I WAS BRAKING. I ACCELERATED AGAIN TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SWAYING MOTION WAS ACTUALLY HAPPENING. AGAIN, THE SWAYING MOTION (BACK AND FORTH) OF THE FRONT SEAT OCCURRED. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE REAR SEAT AND SAW WHAT LOOKED LIKE A BLACK METAL TRACK FRAME SUPPORTING THE SEAT. IN THE AREA TOWARDS THE REAR LEFT SIDE OF THE FRAME WAS ONE OF FOUR METAL PRONGS THAT WERE BROKEN AWAY FROM THE METAL TRACK FRAME OF THE SEAT. KNOWING THAT THIS WAS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE, I LOOKED FOR HELP TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. FRONT SEAT BROKEN ON DRIVER'S SIDE. THE FRONT SEAT DRIVER FRAME HAS BROKEN IN 2 PLACES MAKING THE SEAT A SAFETY HAZARD. MY WIFE AND I ARE THE ONLY DRIVERS OF OUR 2005 MURANO SE. Noticed severe negative camber on the rear wheels at ~225k miles. Marks Auto Svc, Rockford, IL confirmed the rear k-subframe had rusted all the way through from the inside-out. The frame had completely separated at two places on each side near the wheels - SEVERE SAFETEY HAZARD!!!!! 1. Website forums indicate many consumers conclude this problem is due to inferior design (hole in frame allows water to condensate/pool & rust the frame from the inside-out). 2. I conclude this part failed prior to the standard benchmark-life of automotive parts of 20-years. 3. A similar subframe design used on the 2002-05 Atimas & Maximas - produced a SERVICE CAMPAIGN BULLETIN - Ref. NTB05-114c.

THE REAR SUB FRAME IS RUSTED OUT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SUB FRAME RUSTING OUT ON THESE MURANO MODELS AND MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. 2005 NISSAN MURANO DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO LOCK AND UNLOCK. I HAVE A 2005 MURANO AND THE DOOR LOCKS RECENTLY HAVE STOPPED WORKING. THE LOCK WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH THE REMOTE OR WITH THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON ON DRIVER OR PASSENGER DOOR. THIS IS EVEN A BIGGER PROBLEM HAVING A 2 YEAR OLD IN THE VEHICLE AND THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR IS MANUALLY. SINCE THERE IS NO KEY HOLE ON THE REAR DOORS YOU HAVE TO CLIMB THROUGH THE VEHICLE TO LOCK THE DOOR. I CAN'T EVEN LOCK THE DOOR IF SHE MANUALLY MOVES THE LOCK WITH HER HAND I CAN'T LOCK IT FROM THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROL. THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE DRIVER LOCK, THEN PROGRESSED TO THE REAR RIGHT DOOR, NOW THREE OF THE 4 DOORS ARE AFFECTED AND ALSO THE REAR HATCH. DOOR LOCK FAILED TO PERFORM ON NISSAN MURANO 05 1. HAVING A SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS PARAMOUNT IN CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. WHEN LOCKING THE DOORS IT'S IMPERATIVE NOBODY CAN GAIN ACCESS AT WILL BY WALKING UP TO THE CAR. IF ANYONE CAN SIMPLY OPEN THE DOOR TO GAIN ACCESS, CARJACKING, INJURY, OR EVEN MURDER IS EASIER. IF THE DOORS LOCKED PROPERLY THIS PROVIDES A MORE SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO. 2. NISSAN KNOWING THERE IS A SECURITY PROBLEM WITH THEIR LOCKING MECHANISM AND NOT RECALLING THEM FOR SAFETY CONCERN IS NEGLIGENT. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. THIS FAILURE IS AN INTERMITTENT OF OPERATION. SOMETIMES THE DOORS LOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN ADDITION, SOMETIMES THE DOORS UNLOCK OK, OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. 3. IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. AND THE MURANO'S DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT'S NOT EASY TO COMPREHEND IF IT'S NOT YOUR CAR, FOR INSTANCE A RENTAL CAR. I CAN EASILY UNDERSTAND HOW SOME PEOPLE WOULD BE CONFUSED HOW UNLOCK A DOOR USING THE MANUAL LEVEL IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN THEY VIRTUALLY HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH IT. IN EMERGENCIES EVERY SECOND COUNTS. THE LOCKING/UNLOCKING SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONING IS CLEARLY A HIGH RISK IN EMERGENCY SCENARIOS. SOME PEOPLE WHO CANNOT AFFORD THE $1600 TO HAVE ALL THE SOLENOIDS REPLACED (AS QUOTED BY DEALERS) WILL FORGO GETTING THEM FIXED, PUTTING THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AT RISK WITH THE ABOVE MISHAP EXAMPLES. I PURCHASED A PRE-OWNED MURANO WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. A FEW MONTHS AGO I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND WAS NOTIFIED THE TRANSFER CASE WAS LEAKING. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED. THE LEAKS WERE FIXED, A FEW DAYS LATER THERE WAS AN INTENSE BURNING SMELL. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY FIXED IT AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THERE WERE SOME MORE LEAKS FOUND. NOW AFTER DRIVING THE CAR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THERE IS A 4 SECOND DELAY THEN THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF FOR A WHILE AND TURN IT BACK ON THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO GO AWAY. I BROUGHT IT AGAIN TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IN MARCH 2013, A NISSAN DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL SENSORS AND A RELATED AMPLIFIER BECAUSE THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WENT ON AND THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES SPECIFIED A FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM (I PAID BETWEEN $1000-1500). ABOUT A YEAR LATER, THE FUEL SENSOR LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN, THE FUEL GAUGE INTERMITTENTLY SHOWS EMPTY EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS MORE THAN ONE-HALF FULL, AND THE "MILES TO EMPTY" GAUGE PERIODICALLY GOES TO ZERO AND THEN REBOUNDS TO THE SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF MILES LEFT. THIS HAS OCCURED AT VAIROUS TIMES WHEN USING ANY MEANS AVAILABLE TO LOCK AND UN-LOCK THE DOORS: THE KEY FOB, INTERIOR DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE LOCKS BUTTON ON DOOR, AND MANUAL MANIPILATION OF THE INTERIOR DOOR LOCK(S). ON SEPTEMBER 17, MY DRIVER'S DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY OR WITH THE ACTUAL KEY. I CALLED NISSAN OF QUEENS TO STATE AGAIN THAT SOMETHING FRAUDULENT WAS DONE TO MY CAR SINCE MY INITIAL VISIT ON SEPTEMBER 4. THEY ADVISED ME TO COME IN TO "CHECK" THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, PAST EXPERIENCE LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT WILL BE TO "FIX" THE DOOR, CHARGE ME SOME RIDICULOUS AMOUNT, AND THEN CREATE ANOTHER MALFUNCTION. IT'S AN OPEN DOOR TO A LAWSUIT IF SOMEONE WERE TO BE MURDERED DUE TO A DOOR THAT DIDN'T LOCK, ALTHOUGH THE DRIVER PUSHED THE LOCK BUTTON AND HEARD THE LOCKING NOISE. REMEMBER, IN THIS CASE THERE'S NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THE DOOR ISN'T LOCKED UNLESS SOMEONE WALKS UP AND OPENS IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE DRIVE "THINKS" THE DOOR IS LOCKED, WHEN IN REALITY IT'S AN "OPEN DOOR" FOR CARJACKING OR ROBBERY. 3.IN EMERGENCIES IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS QUICKLY. SINCE 99% OF THE TIME WE ALL USE THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS, USING THE MANUAL LOCKING LEVER IS UNFAMILIAR. Not sure when it started bc I just purchased this vehicle a month ago. While driving one evening the head lights went off and I had to turn them off and back on. Now a few weeks later and after I've changed the bulbs and made sure the fuse wasn't blown it is doing it ALOT. I'm not sure if it is a wiring problem or if it is in the on and off switch.

I CONTRACTED AAMCO TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, ONE MONTH LATER, NISSAN USA HAD TO PROVIDE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION TO REPLACE THE ONE CHANGED ONE MONTH BEFORE. LAST MONDAY, JULY 06, 2015, WHILE DRIVING ON THE NEW JERSEY GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, THE VEHICLE PRESENTED SERIOUS TROUBLE, WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, AWD AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AS THE VEHICLE LOST SPEED, TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED, PUTTING MY WIFE, MYSELF AND OTHER VEHICLES AROUND US IN SERIOUS RISK OF ACCIDENT. I MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER AND LATER TO A NEAR BY FRIEND`S HOUSE IN THE GALLOWAY AREA. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN USA REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION, THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT AAMCO, SINCE THEY INSTALLED THE NEW TRANSMISSION. AAMCO CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND OUT THAT, THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE ALTERNATOR THAT HEATED UP, DROPPED VOLTAGE TO 12V DC AND CAUSED THE SAFE MODE TO ENGAGE, BY MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE ON THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. NISSAN USA CLAIMS THAT THIS NHTSA CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN CLOSED, WHEN IT IS TO MY BELIEVE THAT, IT SHOULD BE RE-OPENED AND NOT ONLY ME, BUT ALSO MANY OTHER NISSAN MURANO OWNERS, THAT STILL CONFRONT SUCH FACTORY DEFECTIVE ISSUES TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON OUR WAY TO PICK UP DAUGHTER WHO LIVES 1.5 HOURS AWAY MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO WOULD NOT STOP WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAD TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND LET IT STOP TO PUT IT IN PARK. I THEN CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. I HAD TO GET REAR BRAKE PADS AND REAR BRAKE ROTORS AS WELL AS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE REAR CALIPER. THIS ALL COST ME $1,700 AS WELL AS A WEEKEND WITH MY GRANDCHILD! THERE HAD NOT BEEN ANY WARNING SIGNS THAT I NEEDED NEW BRAKES, I HAD ONLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2018. I PAID 5,500 DOLLARS FOR THE VEHICLE AND THUS FAR HAVE HAD TO PUT ALMOST 4,000 DOLLARS INTO REPAIRS AND TOW TRUCKS! THEY FOUND A NUMBER OF OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AT THE NISSAN SHOP WHICH THEY SAID WERE NOT COVERED - SUCH AS- CAM SHAFT SENSORS,DRIVE BELTS,HEAD GASKET. I AGREED TO PAY FOR THOSE ITEMS AND TO GET MY TRANSMISSION REPLACED FOR FREE UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE THREE TO FIVE DAYS TO GET THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE FACTORY. I GET A CALL TODAY FROM GO NISSAN ON JUNE 19TH ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THEY AGREED TO FIX IT AND THEY NOW SAY THAT THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN SOME PURPLE FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION AND NOW THEY WONT REPLACE IT OR COVER IT IN ANY WAY. THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS DELIVERED THERE WITH NO FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION AT ALL. THEY SAID, YA, WELL.. I HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND AN AIRBAG LIGHT APPEAR ON MY DASH. WHILE DRIVING ON THE BELTWAY THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WOULDN'T TEE POND TO THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER ABOUT 2 MINUTES IT KICKED BACK IN SO I TOOK IT TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC FROM A NISSAN DEALER THE NEXT MORNING. THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS FINE ACCORDING TO THE COMPUTER THERE WERE A LOT OF CODES THAT POPPED UP BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY WEREN'T HAPPENING ANYMORE. I ASKED OF THEY CHECKED ALL OF THE WIRES THEY TOLD ME YES. SO I TOOK MY VEHICLE AND LATER THAT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM LUNCH BREAK THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE MURANO SLOWED DOWN AS BEFORE ONLY THIS TIME IT CUT COMPLETELY OFF. IT ONLY HELD A JUMP FOR ABOUT 5 BLOCKS BEFORE IT CUT OFF AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN'T CHECK ANYTHING UNLESS I PURCHASE A NEW BATTERY SO I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND THEY PUT IT IN AND TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS FINE AGAIN IT JUST NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS READING FINE BUT IN MY OPINION THAT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS FEEDING OFF THE JUICE OF A NEW BATTERY. I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH HYDROPLANING SOON AFTER PURCHASE, AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN EXTREMELY CAREFUL AND ON GUARD WHEN DRIVING IN RAIN OR EVEN WHEN STREETS ARE WET. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WITH BRAND NEW TIRES AND TIRES THAT WERE SLIGHTLY WORN SO THE TIRES DON'T SEEM TO BE THE PROBLEM, UNLESS ITS THE TYPE OF TIRE BUT ITS NOT THE TREAD ON THE TIRE. THE CAR CAME WITH GOODYEAR EAGLE P235/65 R18 TIRES AND I HAVE REPLACED WITH SAME TIRES WHEN NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED OF TREAD WEAR. ON JULY 22, 2013 I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM GATLINBURG WITH DAUGHTER AND 2 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER IN CAR. WE WERE CAUGHT IN DOWNPOUR GOING THROUGH KNOXVILLE. I TRULY CANNOT BELIEVE WE ARE ALIVE. THEY RESET THE SYSTEM AND PULLED THE CODE FROM THE UNIT. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE AKA CLOCKSPRING CABLE IS FAULTY THAT IS THE REASON WHY THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON AT RANDOM TIMES. I WAS QUOTED A LITTLE OVER $2000 FOR THE REPAIRS AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS ENDED ASK TO TALK TO A MANAGER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. ALSO ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER THAT DAY THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, WHEN I CALLED THEM I WAS GIVEN THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RESET THE AIRBAG LIGHT. I ASK THE IF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL WORK IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT AND WAS TOLD THEY CANT GUARANTEE IT WILL BUT IT SHOULD IF THE SYSTEM IS RESET AND THE LIGHT IS NOT ON. FROM THAT DAY TO NOW I HAVE TO RESET THE SYSTEM AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 2 WEEKS. THE OTHER ISSUE THAT I'VE HAD IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SEALS LEAKING WITH CAUSES THE OIL LEVEL TO GET LOW AND MAKES IT LOUD AND INCREASES THE RPM WHILE DRIVING. I HAD THE SEAL REPLACED 3 TIMES, ONCE UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY, ONCE WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY AND JUST RECENTLY HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. AND AGAIN ASKED TO TALK TO A SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THIS SINCE ITS THE SAME PART BEING REPLACED 3 TIMES, AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE SINCE THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR

LIFTER LINK ASSEMBLY BROKE ON MY 2005 NISSAN MURANO. TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICING AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE SEAT WAS BROKEN. THE DEALERSHIP FIXED IT BECAUSE IT WAS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. STILL HAD TO PAY THE $50.00 DEDUCTIBLE, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS FLASHING IN THE DASH AGAIN. I HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED ONCE BEFORE WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THE NORTH LITTLE ROCK DEALERSHIP. ON LEAVING THE GARAGE WITHIN JUST A MILE, I MADE A LEFT TURN AND HEARD A CRUNCHING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT CAME BACK ON. I WENT STRAIT BACK AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT BUT THE (SECOND REPLACEMENT PART) WOULDN'T BE IN TILL THE NEXT DAY SO I WAS GIVEN A LOANER FOR ONE DAY. NOW IT'S BACK ON AGAIN. ALSO NOTED SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED THAT THE LUMBAR SUPPORT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE NO LONGER INFLATES/DEFLATES AND HASN'T WORKED SINCE. I HAVE HAD ALL RECALLS FIXED AND HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AT 37,000 MILES AT MY COST. ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP RESURFACE BOTH FRONT ROTORS AND REPLACE A REAR CALIPER UNDER WARRANTY THAT HAD LOCKED UP 1 & 1/2 YEARS AGO. I SEE THAT THE FRONT ROTORS ARE IN NEED OF RESURFACING AGAIN EVEN THOUGH THE BREAK PADS HAVE 1/2 OF THERE WEAR LEFT TO GO. DUE TO THE HIGHLY CHROMED /CURVED DIPSTICK, GETTING AN ACCURATE OIL LEVEL READING IS NOT POSSIBLE AT ANY TIME, SO THE DIPSTICK HAS ONLY BEEN REMOVED THREE TIME SINCE PURCHASING IT AS IT IS A POINTLESS ENDEAVOR. I OWN SIX AUTOS THAT RANGE IN AGE FROM 1972 THREW THIS 2005 MURANO AND OF ALL OF THEM, THE MURANO IS THE LEAST TRUSTED ONE. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER NISSAN. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I COULD HEAR WHAT COULD BEST BE DESCRIBED AS A COMBINATION CLICK AND SNAP. AT THE SAME TIME I FELT THE LOWER LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVERS SEAT MOVE. TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING A 2005 NISSAN MURANO. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE STRONG GAS FUMES COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE GAS FUMES WOULD FILL THE GARAGE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SMELL GAS FUMES CONTINUED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM IN APRIL 2006. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE DEALER ALSO ADDED FUEL TANK PROTECTORS. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO SMELL GAS FUMES. IN JANUARY 2007, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE GAS FUMES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE EVAPORATOR CANISTER BECAUSE THEY FOUND GAS IN IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE REASON FOR THE GAS FUMES. NEXT MORNING TOWED TO DEALERSHIP; REPORT IS A CODE U1000 - ELECTRICAL AND GROUND WIRE PROBLEM. TSB PROCEDURE FOLLOWED BASED ON THE CODE. HOWEVER, TSB SAYS IT APPLIES TO THE CODE ONLY WHEN NO MALFUNCTION INDICATORS LIGHTS ARE ON. THEREFORE, I DO NOT BELIEVE PROBLEM IS FIXED. ALSO, SINCE THEN A VIBRATION IS DETECTED THROUGH THE GAS PEDAL WHEN ACCELERATING. SCN). UPON MY VEHICLE'S RETURN, I FIND THERE IS NO 2ND ROW LH SEAT BELT CLIP FOR ME TO INSERT EITHER THE 2ND ROW LH SEAT BELT OR MY CHILD SEAT SECURING HARNESS INTO. THERE WERE 3 CLIPS PRIOR TO MY TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP - ONE FOR 2ND ROW RH, ONE IN THE MIDDLE AND ONE FOR 2ND ROW LH. NOW THERE ARE ONLY 2 AND I CAN SEE VISIBLE SIGNS OF THE LH SEAT BELT CLIP HAVING BEING CUT OFF FROM THE SEAT. THIS PREVENTS ME FROM ATTACHING MY CHILD SEAT FOR LH REAR PASSENGER TO USE A SEAT BELT. I HAVE A 2005 NISSAN MURANO WHICH IS TWO WHEEL DRIVE WITH THE CTV TRANSMISSION. WE WERE COMING BACK FROM VACATION FROM COLORADO WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED. SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE TRIP WHEN WE WERE COMING DOWN A HILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE CAR WOULD TRY TO MAINTAIN THE SELECTED SPEED HOWEVER IF THE HILL WAS A LITTLE TO BIG IT WOULD TURN OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL IT SELF. WE WERE JUST SOUTH OF SAN ANTONIO THE LAST TIME THAT IT HAD TURNED OFF THE THE CRUISE. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN IT TURNED OFF THE CRUISE IT ALSO DISABLED THE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS RATHER SCARY AS WE WERE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN IT DID IT. WE WERE COMING DOWN A HILL WHEN THE CRUISE TURNED IT SELF OFF AND IN THE PROCESS THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE LANE. ALL WE COULD DO WAS TURN ON THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL AND HOPE NO ONE WOULD HIT US. ONCE WE HAD GOTTEN TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED I HAD REALIZED THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T RESPOND. I HAD PUT IT IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T RESPOND. I FIGURED IF I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT THAT MAYBE IT WOULD RESET WHATEVER WAS WRONG. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE WHOLE DASH LIT UP. ONE BY ONE THE LIGHTS HAD GONE OUT EXCEPT THE "SERVICE THE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT. HOWEVER THE TRANSMISSION WORKED AND HAS WORKED SINCE. BY THE TIME WE HAD GOTTEN HOME AND GOTTEN AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN TO A NISSAN DEALER THE LIGHT HAD GONE OUT. WE HAD TAKEN IT TO THE CHARLIE CLARK NISSAN IN HARLINGEN TEXAS AND THEY HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. THE REASON THEY DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM IS THAT WE HAVE NO HILLS AS WE LIVE IN THE VALLEY AND THERE ARE NO HILLS HERE. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD CHECKED EVERYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE THE PROBLEM AND EVERYTHING WAS TO SPECIFICATION. SO NOTHING WAS ADJUSTED , OR REPLACED SO AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE AND THE NEXT TIME WE GET INTO THE HILL COUNTRY IT WILL PROBABLY ACT UP AGAIN.

SPECIFICALLY, THE ANCHOR POINT FOR TETHER STRAPS OF FORWARD FACING CHILD SEATS IS LOCATED SO FAR FROM THE VEHICLE'S CENTER SEAT THAT YOU CANNOT SUCCESSFULLY ANCHOR THE TETHER STRAP, THUS PREVENTING A TRUE INSTALLATION IN THE CENTER POSITION. I AM A NATIONALLY CERTIFIED CHILD SEAT TECHNICIAN.
