Unknown, was no accident,transmission stalling,jerking,pulling slow transmission get over heated will not move,takes off real slow RPM go way up and you can only drive20 miles,and you get stuck in traffic, it's and accident waiting to happen,not safety at all when you stuck in middle of freeway cause transmission stalled.

My driver's side sun visor is stuck in the downward position, which is constantly obstructing my view and is a safety hazard to myself as well as others around me. I raised this issue to my dealer and was told that although this is a common problem with my specific vehicle make and model there currently are no recalls on this. I was told that a plastic clip within the visor is known to break after normal wear and tear causing the visor to not function properly. If this is a known issue, it should be a recall before there are any injuries as a result of obstructed vision.

I have done a lot of research on these Nissan Muranos and other Nissan models. There are recalls for this exact same issue on models 2015-2019 and I have a 2014. I have viewed many complaints and reviews that state owners also have problem with the CVT transmission. Mine is giving error messages and been acting up while on the interstate. It will jolt into 4 rpm and higher and stay there. This always happens on the interstate and has happened a few times on slower speed limit roads. Seems like the issue is mainly when the car is over 60mph on the interstate. It seems very dangerous and I know Nissan CVT transmission have been recalled. I only have 132,000 miles on my vehicle and many mechanics have told me that it should not be going out like this with this few miles.

CVT transmission gears slipping. OBD II code states stepper motor malfunction. This has caused the vehicle to go from 75 mph to 45 so quickly it almost caused an accident on the freeway. The most recent incident happened today. The transmission started whining and RPMs went high. This looks to be an issue for more Muranos than necessary and should be considered a recall problem.

Driving within a few miles headed home from work my car began to loose power as if it wanted to die out on me. It struggled tremendously to gain RPM as if it wasn't getting any gas. I had reached a red traffic light and was afraid it would shut off while awaiting on light to turn green. It would not pick up speed and was shaking badly. Eventually my check engine light appeared but I was already arriving home thankfully. Sadly, upon doing my research of troubleshooting possible issues for Nissan Murano online I came across many issues regarding the transmission. Worse of it all, Nissan has been well informed of this ongoing issue. A class action was filed in 2016 but it appears that was a limited time. My issue has just begun regarding my transmission, so how does this help anyone who is just now dealing with this type of issue? Anyone else with recent similar issue your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The rack and pinion and power steering pump going out which is a safety issue if the power steering goes out while driving I feel that Nissan should fix this issue due to be a hazard and safety issue to the driver and other people on the road it can cause a severe wreak if not a fatality

During regular driving, the vehicle's engine emitted a loud bang, followed by a lot of white smoke coming from the engine and substantial fluid leakage from the vehicle to the ground. The dash was clear: there were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms prior to the event. The dealer (Jim Coleman Nissan, Bethesda) found that the high pressure power steering hose had "blown off" and the power steering switch was also damaged and needed to be replaced. I pulled over and parked, but did not stay in the vehicle because online research on my phone after the fact showed that 2014 Muranos were previously recalled for this problem and that fires sometimes ensued. Nissan HQ stated that the recall for 2014 Muranos for this problem did not include my 2014 Murano's VIN #. It seems an unlikely coincidence and other Muranos of this year should be inspected.

MY VEHICLE MAKES A SCREECHING NOISE EVERY TIME THE STEERING WHEEL IS ROTATED TO THE LEFT OR ANY MOVEMENT IS MADE LEFTWARD. THE NOISE IS ESPECIALLY PROMINENT AT MILD TO HIGH SPEEDS. IT DOES NOT NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS ROTATED TO THE RIGHT.

POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK AT LOW SPEEDS (PARALLEL PARKING, LOW SPEED TURNS, 3 POINT TURNS) IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE. POWER STEERING "WHINES" WHILE ACCCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 65,500 MILES ON IT WHEN IT STARTED. WAS TOLD BY THE NISSAN TECHNICIAN THAT DID A DIAGNOSTIC THAT IT IS EITHER THE POWER STEERING PUMP OR THE BRACKET.

Sun visors on driver and passenger sides will not stay in the up position causing visibility hazard.

My driver side sun visor has failed. It will not stay up in the home position nor will it stay against the windshield. It has simply flopped down and is blocking my view through the windshield. The only way I can operate my Murano is to move the visor to the left against the window of the driver's door. From the research I have done I have gleaned that this is an intrinsic design flaw common on all Murano and Rouge vehicles. And replacing it with an OEM sun visor at the dealership will not remedy the problem since the one they install will also fail eventually. Nissan has turned a deaf ear and blind eye to this critical safety hazard that obstructs the driver's forward view. There should be a recall on these visors. But don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. I, for one, am NOT going to shell out the $400 that the dealership wants for the replacement visor...nor am I going to pay $150 an hour shop labor to have it installed. People be aware that there are NON-OEM replacement visors available on eBay and Amazon in the $50 price range and if you look on YouTube there are videos showing how to simply and easily install the new visor yourself with little more than a flathead screwdriver and a phillips head screw driver. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT HANGS IN THE DOWN POSITION AND OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. IT INITIALLY WOULD ONLY FALL DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE HIT A BUMP IN THE ROADWAY.NOW THE VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AT ALL AND IS CONSTANTLY BLOCKING THE DRIVER'S VIEW.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

Service air bag light on dash is blinking non stop, in addition the "Passenger Airbag" light below the radio controls is always showing "off" regardless of having a passenger in the seat. After getting the Data read via mechanic the issue is pointing towards bad communication from the airbag control module and the OCS being bad. This should be a recall. As the repairs can cost easily over 2000 per Nissan Dealer and online forums.

The airbag warning indicator lit up on my Nisan Murano dash board. This is safety concern for me and my family. When I took my vehicle to Nissan dealer to have it checked, they said there was a recall on it which expired. I bought this vehicle in 2021. I did not get any recall notice. The cost to address the issue per dealers estimate is more than $4,000.00. Why is Nisan refusing to address this?

The safety issue is with a 2014 Nissan Murano. April 22, 2024, the air bag light is on steady, so the vehicle was taken to a Nissan dealer to determine the repairs that are necessary. The Nissan dealer determined the battery charge was low and recharged the battery. The air bag light went off afterwards for 6 months. Then on 1-27-25, the Nissan Murano was again brought to the Nissan Dealer to determine why the air bag light was on. The technician diagnostic scan for codes found code B00A0 stored, in airbag for occupant detection system error. In plain terms, the seat cushion pressure sensor is defective. The dealer will only do the repair if they replace the entire passenger seat at a cost that is more than $3,700. From my research, At Nissan Parts, that pressure sensor costs $39.02. Part Occupant Sensor - Nissan (98853-3JA0A). The auto insurance will not cover this repair. This is a serious safety issue, where there is a possibility that the air bag could deploy unexpectedly causing serious injury to the passenger, deploy when a child is in the passenger seat, or not deploy at all in an accident. Searching for repair options on the web, I have found many forums and instances that describe the same problem. This should be a manufacturer recall.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the passenger’s side air bag warning light illuminated the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the passenger’s side occupancy sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: NTB16-052. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 30,000.

CAR WON'T START. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES IN ONE MONTH AND CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES. ORIGINALLY TOLD IT WAS THE IPDM MODULE WHICH WAS REPLACED. ABOUT A WEEK AND HALF LATER THE ENGINE WOULDN'T START AGAIN BUT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS, RADIO AND HEAT/AIR WOULDN'T SHUT OFF. WAS TOLD THIS TIME THAT IT WAS A FAULTY BATTERY WHICH WAS REPLACED. AFTER PICKING IT UP AND DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MILES AND SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. EVERY SINGLE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD IS ON AND AGAIN THE ENGINE WON'T START OR CUT OFF THE LIGHTS. HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND 4 DAYS LATER WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO A RUSTY BOLT OF SOME SORT THAT WAS LOOSE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 2 DAYS LATER IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. A FEW HOURS LATER THE CAR STARTS BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND IT HAS NOW BEEN FOUR DAYS WITH NO UPDATES FROM THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO - DRIVERS SIDE SUNVISOR IS BROKEN AND WON'T STAY UP WHICH IMPAIRS VISION. AFTER ALL OF THESE TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WOULD COST OVER $200 TO FIX. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL I REVIEWED AND NOTICED THAT MANY OTHER HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SUN VISORS SO THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.

The paint on my hood started peeling last spring for no apparent reason, so I brought my car to a local body shop to have it repainted, and the owner there said that he sees this all the time with Nissans that are that color and that were made around that year, but that there were no recalls for it. I let it be and just paid for the hood to be done, thinking that would be the end of it; but, shortly after that, the trunk started peeling all over, and keeps getting worse and worse; and, more recently, the sides of the car are peeling too and just getting worse and worse. I tried contacting Nissan’s headquarters about this, giving them all of this information, and they told me there’s nothing they can do because the warranty expired in 2016 (I didn’t even purchase the vehicle until 2020), and that it doesn’t matter that the body shop owner said that this is a very common problem, so I’m on my own for the cost of repainting the entire car, even though it’s clearly a manufacturing issue. I even tried contacting my local Nissan, and two workers there even also said that this is a problem they’ve seen several times, so that they also believe it’s a manufacturing issue, but that their hands are tied. At this point, I’m not sure what else to do, but it does seem entirely unfair that consumers — apparently LOTS of consumers — are having to foot the bill for something that is seemingly Nissan’s fault. Since it’s a manufacturing issue, I don’t see why there isn’t, nor why there shouldn’t be, a recall over it.

FRONT SUNROOF SHATTERED SPONTANEOUSLY. A ROCK DID NOT HIT IT. THE 10,000 PIECES ARE SO TINY THAT THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP IN THE PHOTO I TOOK. THEY ARE STILL IN PLACE IN THE ROOF OF MY CAR. I HAVE ORDERED A REPLACEMENT GLASS AND I HOPE THE LOCAL GLASS MAN IS ABLE TO REPLACE IT.

I HAVE HAD MY 2014 NISSAN MURANO SINCE NEW. IT HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OFF THE ENTIRE TIME, YET I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE DOOR LOCKS BREAKING. THE RESULT OF THIS BREAKING IS THE THE DOORS CANNOT BE ELECTRONICALLY UNLOCKED EVEN FROM THE INTERIOR UPON TRYING TO DO SO. THIS IS OF CONCERN AS IF THERE WAS EVER AN ACCIDENT IT WHICH I NEEDED TO BE RAPIDLY PULLED FROM MY VEHICLE, A RESCUER WOULD HAVE TO FORCE THEIR WAY IN DELAYING RESCUE. THE MOST RECENT INSTANCE OF THESE BREAKING (07/19/2019) IS THE 6TH OCCURRENCE OF THIS PART BREAKING. THE REPAIR HAS BEEN COMPLETED AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP EACH TIME (PINNACLE NISSAN, SCOTTSDALE AZ). IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THERE IS A DEFECT PART AT PLAY AND THAT NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND CONTINUES TO PUT THESE DEFECTS PARTS IN VEHICLES ENDANGERING PEOPLES LIVES DURING A POTENTIAL RESCUE. I HAD REPORTED THIS DURING THE LAST INSTANCE WITH NO REPLY. I HOPE THIS MATTER IS REVIEWED AND A RESOLUTION MET BEFORE SOMEONE SUFFERS AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT.

WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WESTBOUND ON HIGHWAY I-72/US 36 NEAR HANNIBAL, MISSOURI, WE HEARD A LOUD AND SUDDEN EXPLOSION RESULTING IN A CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF THE SUNROOF ON OUR SUV. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THE SUNROOF AND SUNSHADE WERE CLOSED. THE HIGHWAY WAS LIGHTLY TRAVELED AND THERE WERE NO VEHICLES (CARS, TRUCKS, BUSES, ETC.) IN THE VICINITY. WE DID NOT PASS UNDER ANY OVERPASSES. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE AREA THAT WOULD HAVE GENERATED A PROJECTILE THAT WOULD HIT A SUNROOF 5 1/2' ABOVE THE PAVEMENT. SIMPLY STATED, WE WERE AN ISOLATED CAR ON A DESERTED STRETCH OF HIGHWAY. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR AND SUNNY WITH LIGHT CLOUDS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50 DEGREES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

2014 Nissan Murano with only 43,000 miles had the ABS acuator fail causing the brakes to go all the way to the floor. Nissan had a recall on this part for 2015-2017 Muranos. Mine is a 2014. Cost to repair is $2400 from the dealer. I called Nissan and they wouldn't budge as far as assisting with the cost even though it is a KNOWN issue. These acuators should last over 100,000 miles so mine lasted only 43% of it's lifetime. There needs to be a class-action lawsuit against Nissan for this part.

The contact stated that after the vehicle was repaired, while driving at an unknown speed, the brake pedal was depressed and felt spongy with the brake pedal traveling to floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated the brakes operated better before the repair. The dealer was made aware of the failure and had informed the contact that a tow truck would be sent out for assistance however, no tow service arrived to help. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

ON OCT 31,2017 I ATTEMPTED TO STOP MY MURANO ON MERCURY BLVD AND IT WOULD NOT STOP. I HIT THE BRAKES AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN OR STOP, THEN TRIED ATTEMPTED AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN OR STOP. IT RESULTED INTO ME HITTING ANOTHER CAR AND MY TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOST AT THIS POINT. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL TOTAL IT OUT. I SEE THERE ARE TWO OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY SAME THING. WE PURCHASED A 2014 MISSAN MURANO SL AWD IN DEC 2104, WITH THE NAVIGATION PACKAGE ($2100) WHICH INCLUDED THE BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEM. WHEN LIGHTS ARE IN THE "AUTO" POSITION, A VEHICLE COMES UP FROM BEHIND, EITHER SIDE, THE YELLOW/ORANGE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, JUST THE WAY IT SHOULD. HOWEVER, WHEN YOU TURN THE HEAD LIGHTS ON TO "MANUAL" POSITION, SUCH AS WHEN IT IS RAINING, THE BLIND SPOT WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON ENOUGH TO CATCH YOUR ATTENTION, IT IS JUST A FLICKER, YOU WOULD HAVE TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD TO SEE IT. IT IS LIKE THERE IS NO WARNING AT ALL. WE HAVE CALLED NISSAN AND WERE TOLD THAT, "IT PERFORMS AS DESIGNED" I SAID THEN YOU HAVE A DESIGN FLAW AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT GETTING A WARNING THE SAME WAY WHEN THE LIGHT ARE IN THE "AUTO" POSITION. NISSAN POSITION IS THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT.

WE PURCHASED A NEW NISSAN 2014 MURANO. WHEN WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA WAS DISTORTED AND FUZZY. WE WERE TOLD TO ADJUST THE SETTINGS AFTER WE GOT THE NEW CAR. WE WERE UNABLE TO DO THAT SO WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR (AUTOBARN NISSAN EVANSTON) AND IT WAS ALSO UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD ALL 2014 NISSAN MURANO'S HAD THE SAME CAMERA AND ALL WORKED THE SAME WAY AND NISSAN DID NOT INTEND TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS WHICH BOTH ACKNOWLEDGED THE INSTALLED CAMERA IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THIS CREATES A HAZARD BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHAT IS BEHIND THE CAR WHEN BACKING UP DUE TO THE DISTORTION. THIS IS A KNOWN NISSAN DEFECT BUT IT CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX ITS DEFECT. I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TO TURN INTO THE PARKING SPACE AT THE RESTAURANT AND THE TRUCK JERKED FORWARD. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PAD AND QUICKLY NOTICED THAT THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. I SAID OUT LOUD, ITS NOT STOPPING! THE PASSENGER IN MY TRUCK THEN LEANED OVER AND NOTICED THAT MY FOOT WAS IN FACT ON THE BREAK PAD. I MADE THE STATEMENT AGAIN, ITS NOT STOPPING! THE TRUCK ROLLED OVER THE CONCRETE PARKING BLOCK AND PROCEEDED INTO THE BUILDING. I WAS PUMPING THE BREAK PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AT THIS POINT. I COULD HEAR THE ENGINE ACCELERATING AS I WAS PUMPING THE BREAK PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I YELLED UNCONTROLLABLY BECAUSE I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. In addition, the contact stated that several days later, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a leaking radiator. The contact was informed that the exhaust assembly and the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

The transmission has given out. There are recalls for the same year (2014) on different Nissan vehicles. There are issues that I have never had. One minute it will go then it'll shudder and not move at all even with the pedal pushed down. It goes into limp mode. There are threads and pages created just for this issue and nothing has been done about it. The car gave out on me while in traffic, pulling out into traffic, and nearly avoided causing a crash that could have ended in death or sever injury. Why is this not being addressed??? I've had the transmission flushed by Nissan and also after the incident. The vehicle is available for inspection but will need to be towed. I should not have to fork out thousands of dollars to fix a major Nissan issue. This happened with no warning. Just failure. No warning lamps or symptoms.

Problems with Nissan Murano CVT transmission - Transmission slips with loss of power/acceleration while in traffic, then jerks or lurches forward. No codes (DTC) registered for the symptoms. Dangerous for myself and other drivers as this occurs without warning. Fortunate not to end up in an accident. Nissan manuals do not recommend precautions or service for this. Now faced with all repair costs.

IN 2018, I REPLACED THE ORIGINAL TIRES WITH COOPER DISCOVER SRX. THE CAR HAD ABOUT 30000 MILES AT THAT TIME. SINCE THEN, EACH TIRE HAS DEVELOPED LOW PRESSURE, ALERTED THRU TPMS, DUE TO BEAD LEAKS ON 3-4 OCCASIONS. THE TIRE DEALER BLAMES THE ALUMINUM ALLOY WHEELS AS THE FAULT. I'VE HAD NUMEROUS CARS (INCLUDING MURANO'S AND OTHER NISSANS) WITH ALUMINUM ALLOYS, AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. HISTORICALLY, COOPER TIRES FOR LIGHT TRUCKS RECALLED IN 1988 FOR BEAD ISSUES.

MY SUPPLEMENTAL AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON 2/20/21 AND CONTINUED TO FLASH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 2/27/21 AND THEY SAID THE OCS SENSOR MAT WAS BAD AND IT WOULD COST $4858.13 TO REPLACE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BOTTOM. HE SAID EVERYTHING IS CONTAINED IN THE SEAT BOTTOM SO THE WHOLE THING HAS TO BE REPLACED. HE SAID THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS BECAUSE WOMEN PUT THERE PURSES IN THE SEAT. REALLY? SOUNDS LIKE IT'S A FAULTY SYSTEM IF THAT'S THE CASE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THE 2015-20?? MODELS HAVE ALL HAD RECALLS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I'M SURE MY SYSTEM IS FAULTY AS WELL AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY NISSAN.
