The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH, the vehicle shuddered, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle intermittently returned to normal functionality. The contact checked the transmission fluid and noticed the fluid was burnt and emitted a foul odor. The contact found metal shavings inside the transmission fluid pan. The contact who is a mechanic used a Thinkcar Scanner and retrieved DTC: P17F1. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure had progressively worsened, and the vehicle was no longer driven and remained parked at the residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

When trying to merge onto the interstate, the car didn't accelerate, causing other vehicles on the road to swerve around me. Afterwards, I noticed that the car was shaking or juddering at low revs (about 1,000 RPM). I internet searched for possible causes and found that this shaking was caused by a known problem with the CVT on my car (Nissan Murano). I bought the car (a 2015 Nissan Murano AWD SL) in 2018 as a certified pre-owned vehicle only used by that Nissan dealership, it now has 63,841 miles on it. I needed the vehicle so I had the transmission replaced (I was told that 'fixing' the problem was not an option), at a cost of $7,157.19. There was no warning, no lights on the dash, etc. I had also just had the car serviced at the dealership (on 8/3/24, which cost me $2,618.55) where they replaced the CVT fluid as part of the service. I'm just lucky that the transmission didn't fail while I was actually going at a higher speed. Nissan needs to recall and/or replace these transmissions.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and hesitated, after which the vehicle lost motive power. The driver was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to restart but was unable to shift into drive or reverse. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the CVT transmission fluid needed to be flushed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 204,000.

While trying to accelerate and merge onto the highway, the transmission began to increase in RPMs but would not accelerate. There are no warning light or anythign that would inform us of a failure. This almost caused an accident because I could not get up to speed. Then the transmission began juddering at low speeds and has continued. This is a sign the transmission is failing according to Nissan. Upon research, there are many complaints out there about the transmission in the Nissans. There was a class action suit that required Nissan to extend the warranty of their drivetrain. For some reason, the Murano was excluded from this list even though it shares the same issues and the same transmission as the Pathfinder, which was recalled/warranty extended. These vehicles are a timebomb when they will fail and could cause multiple accidents. They knowly have an issue that they wont fix that could take someone life

HAD A RECALL ON PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THE LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN A PASSENGER IS PRESENT. WE TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT FIXED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL .IT WORKED FOR A WHILE AND STARTED DOING THE SAME ISSUES. SOMETIMES IT WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. AGAIN WE ASKED THEM TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT . WHAT THEY TOLD US TO WIGGLE AROUND ON THE SEAT, WHICH IS STUPID. IT'S STILL NOT FIXED.THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND WE WANT IT FIX. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS. IS IT A SOFTWARE PROBLEM?

The CVT unit shutters, lurches, and slips out of gear ratios when acceleration. There is violent jerking when pondering at low speeds and it even causes the engine to stall when coming to a halt in drive mode. Nissan knows the problem and others have served Nissan with a Class action lawsuit to remediate the issue with the CVT unit. The check engine warning light illuminates when the issue arises. Nissan has not submitted a recall request.

The sunshade has dropped down into the car. There was no warning and appears to be a common problem with Nissan. There was a recall for this same issue on a different model. It was looked at at the dealership and the repair is outrageous and a common problem with the Murano.

Sunroof exploded while driving down the highway. There was a loud explosion sound. Nothing struck the vehicle. I wasn't sure what had caused the sound, but when I pulled off the road, I noticed that sunroof was shattered and had exploded.

The door locks for this vehicle are unreliable. I have had to replace all 4 on this vehicle and many other locks on my previous 2 Murano vehicles. They will not lock/unlock reliably. Sometimes they will not unlock when exiting the vehicle. They cannot be counted on in an emergency to unlock.

JUNE 8, 2023 11:26 PM EASTERN - 2015 Nissan Murano caught fire while sitting in driveway. The vehicle burned to the ground. Background - Vehicle was taken to dealer to repair open recall in 2020 and Nissan dealer did not repair recall. The vehicle had no warning lights on or any other warnings. Vehicle was operating normal until fire. Vehicle had not been driven for 4 hours before the fire. Vehicle was parking in my driveway when the fire started. Fire fighters and police were called to scene to distinguish fire. Vehicle is a total loss. Purchased vehicle new and the ABS brakes, actuator and other parts were replaced twice during its lifetime in 2017, & 2018. All services performed at a Nissan Dealer. I have filed a formal investigation with Nissan USA and that investigation is underway.

THE RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED AS PROMISED. I DO HAVE TO ADD THOUGH THAT SHORTLY AFTER HAVING PICKED THE CAR UP, THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING WARNING LIGHT STARTED TO GO OFF OCCASIONALLY AFTER NORMALLY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THEN THE LIGHT WOULD GO ON AT RANDOM TIMES WITHOUT HAVING APPLIED THE BRAKES. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY MENTIONED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A COINCIDENT THAT THIS HAPPENED. I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS SUSPECT THOUGH AS I NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE LIGHT AND THE SYSTEM PRIOR TO BRINGING THE CAR IN FOR THE ABS MODULE RECALL. I STILL FEEL THAT SOMETHING WAS TWEAKED OR THE SYSTEM'S FAILURE WAS EXACERBATED BY HAVING HAD WORK PERFORMED ON IT, DESPITE THE ABS MODULE BEING LOCATED ON THE FIREWALL AND THE AEB SENSOR LOCATED IN THE FRONT GRILL. I ALSO HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET THAT 2015,2016,2017 AND 2018 MODEL YEAR ROGUES,ROGUE SPORT, MURANOS, ALTIMAS, MAXIMAS, LEAFS, SENTRAS, ARMADA'S AND PATHFINDERS HAVE ALL BEEN IMPACTED BY AEB ISSUES. THE MOST DANGEROUS, WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES INTO AEB MODE FOR NO REASON AND APPLIES THE BRAKES. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN PROCESS NOW AND SOME TSB'S THAT YOU HAVE ISSUED FOR FIXES. I HAVE OWNED OR OWN 4 NISSANS SINCE 2010...A 2010 NISSAN SENTRA WHICH WAS RECENTLY REPLACED BY A 2019 NISSAN SENTRA AND MY 2015 MURANO WHICH REPLACED MY 2011 INFINIT G7XS. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY MAJOR SERVICE ISSUES WITH ANY OF THEM WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS MOST RECENT $1006.62 REPAIR WHICH THE DEALER SAID WOULD NOT BE COVERED AS IT WAS INCIDENTAL TO THE RECALL REPAIR. I TOOK MY MURANO TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED. NISSAN WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE CAR BACK DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THEY GAVE ME A STRIPPED DOWN CAR NOT EQUAL TO MINE. THEY SAID IT TAKES FIVE DAYS TO GET THE PART FROM NEW YORK. THAT IS A JOKE. THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO EXPIDITE THEY PART SO I CAN HAVE MY CAR BACK! THEY ARE TOO CHEAP TO PAY FOR OVERNIGHT SHIPPING. I WANTED THEM TO GIVE ME A CAR LIKE MINE, THEY SAID IT IS UP TO THE DEALER. I REMINDED THEM THAT THEY RECALLED THE CAR THAT IS DEFECTIVE NOT THE DEALER. Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2015 Nissan Murano. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 80,300. It was later discovered that the mileage on Carvana was 179,690 on November 9, 2025.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 40 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The driver was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found, and the vehicle was not repaired. On a separate occasion, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that his wife waited for a while before the vehicle restarted. The contact stated that when his wife arrived home, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. No repairs were performed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that the battery was charged; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with alternator failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,480.

A seal around the taillight was not properly sealed which caused rainwater to leak in the car's side body corroding the body harness and control module. Nissan Consumer Affairs is refusing to address the issue. The trunk hatch now pops open on its own and the car alarm goes off randomly making it extremely unsafe and undrivable.

I wrote this to Nissan. They called me and said there is no recall for this and not under warranty so nothing they can do. They mentioned submitting issue to this site: "2015 Murano, water leak that collects on the floor of the driver's side front and back and trunk in the area of the spare tire. Couldn't figure out why for 2 years. Finally took to auto body place tried flushing out moon roof drain. Okay for a month then 2 days of downpours & all 3 areas had lakes in them. Musty/moldy smell was so bad I had to rip out all of the carpeting of the car in those areas & had a pro car detailer do an ozone treatment & detailing. Hopefully the mold issue is a little better after this & scrubbing everywhere in the car w/ Clorox/water mix. The smell seems better and we are able to garage it now, but still can’t drive the car in heavy rains, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. Since this is an obvious manufacturer defect, and not from normal wear & tear of driving a car, in this happening and causing all of this damage to my car, even though I am not under warranty as I have 109,000 miles on the car, Nissan needs to fully take care of this issue for me for free and repay me the $150 for what the autobody place did and $150 for the detailing and then a guarantee that I will not have water issues from there. Replacing the carpeting and making sure I have no mold issues in the car moving forward needs to be part of this as well, as my wife has asthma and this is beyond ridiculous with the health issue concerns caused by this manufacturer defect. This is also ridiculous that I have to cut and rip the carpets out of my car and have mold issues with such a large company that should have put a recall out on this defect years ago. I now see complaints all over the internet about this same issue for this same model and year car, with no resolution from Nissan from any that I saw of other people having the same issue and trying to fix the issue themselves. How can there not be a recall to fix this?"

LESS THAN 48 HOURS OF OWNERSHIP AND VIVA NISSAN OF EL PASO TX WOULD NOT TAKE BACK THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS A HORRIBLE GLARE REFLECTION FROM THE SUN WHEN THE STYLIZED HOOD ANGLES REFLECT BACK LIGHT INTO THE VEHICLE AND AGAINST OTHER DASH CHROME ACCENTS. DEALER DID, HOWEVER, SEND US TO HIS "FAVORITE" AUTO TINT SHOP, UNIVERSAL TINTING IN EL PASO TX. THEY WERE TOLD BY THE DEALER TO PUT ON A 70% OPTIK NANO CERAMIC TINT ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND SEND THE NISSAN DEALER THE BILL OF $100. THAT COMPANY DID SUCH A RUSH JOB AND LEFT BUBBLES AND VISUAL IMPRESSION OF VIEWING THROUGH A FISHBOWL, NOT TO MENTION THE SLIME RESIDUAL FROM THE APPLICATION THAT WAS LEFT ALL ACROSS THE LEATHER DASH BOARD. 82 HOURS AFTER PURCHASE WE REVIEWED THAT 70% IS NOT STREET LEGAL IN NEW MEXICO WHERE THE CAR DEALER KNEW WE RESIDED, SO WE TOOK THE CAR TO A NM WINDOW TINT COMPANY WHO WILL BE REMOVING THE "DIRTY JOB" (AS THEY DESCRIBED IT) AND WILL DO A CLEAN, CLEAR JOB USING 80% CERAMIC TYPE PRODUCT (BLUE AIR 80 BL SR HPR). FIRSTLY, WHY AFTER LESS THAN 48 HOURS DID THE DEALER, VIVA NISSAN OF EL PASO TEXAS NOT FOLLOW OUR REQUEST TO FREEZE THE FUNDING AND LET US RETURN THE 2015 MURANO AND SELECT ANOTHER LESS DANGEROUS VEHICLE TO DRIVE? SECONDLY, WHY WOULD A 3RD PARTY WINDOW TINTING COMPANY OFFER A SOLUTION THAT WAS NOT STREET LEGAL IN OUR RESIDING STATE? ON AUG. 6, 2016, WE WERE RETURNING FROM VA. BEACH AND AROUND 4:00 PM IT BEGAN TO RAIN; STRONG AND HARD RAIN. WE WERE ON 301 HEADING NORTH TO WASHINGTON DC. WE PROCEEDED TO TURN ON THE WIPERS AND THE DEFROSTER TO CLEAR THE WINDOWS FOR VISIBILITY. THE AIR WAS BLOWING BUT THE CONDENSATION WAS INCREASING ON THE WINDOWS. WE STOPPED AT THE SHEEHY DEALER AT 2950 CRAIN HWY WALDORF, MD. WHERE I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE TO GET SOME ASSISTANCE. THE GENERAL MANAGER CAME OUT, BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE DEFROST SYSTEM TO WORK AND REMOVE THE CONDENSATION FROM THE WINDOWS.

NORMAL DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AT ANY TIME A WARNING WILL BEEP AND SHOW THE COLLISION LIGHT AND A DISPLAY WILL READ "UNAVAILABLE FRONT RADAR OBSTRUCTION" IT HAPPENS AS EARLY AS A FEW HUNDRED FEET OF DRIVING UP TO A FEW MILES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL DISENGUAGE WHILE DRIVING OR NOT WORK AT ALL AND THE DISTANCE SENSOR QUITS MAKING THE CAR NOT SLOW DOWN BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES. THE CAR WILL JUST START SLOWING DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS WARNING ACTIVATES FOR NO REASON IF THE CRUISE IS ON AND BEING USED.

CRUISE CONTROL KICKS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSES DECELERATION. WILL NOT COME BACK ON UNTIL THE CAR IS STOPPED, TURNED OFF, THEN TURNED BACK ON. WET WEATHER MAKES IT A LOT WORSE. MY VEHICLE RECENTLY BEGAN DISPLAYING A WARNING THAT THE ANTI-COLLISION SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONAL AND I NOTICED THIS ALSO DISABLED AND DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL RESULTING IN SUDDEN DECELERATION . THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO RESET WHEN CAR IS STARTED AND REOCCURS AFTER 10 TO 15 MINUTES DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT, AND PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO SOURCE ISSUE. THE NISSAN SERVICE REP TOLD ME THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX. I SEARCHED ON LINE AND ON NUMEROUS SITES FOUND IT WAS A VERY COMMON AND SERIOUS DEFECT WITH A BOSCH SUPPLIED SENSOR ON THE RADAR . THIS IS A DRIVING SAFETY FEATURE I CONSIDER ESSENTIAL TO MY PURCHASE AND WHEN SUDDENLY FAILS DISENGAGING CRUISE CONTROL PRESENTS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUES AND INSISTS I PAY A VERY LARGE REPAIR BILL TO REPAIR.

THE INTERACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL HAS PANIC-BRAKED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BASED ON VEHICLE ACTIVITY IN THE LANE RIGHT OR LEFT OF ME WHEN MY LANE WAS CLEAR FAR AHEAD. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED THREE TIMES AND TWICE THE PANIC-BRAKING HAS SPARKED INCIDENTS OF ROAD RAGE AGAINST ME AS THE FOLLOWING DRIVER THOUGHT I WAS TRYING TO GET REAR-ENDED. THERE IS NO WAY TO USE CRUISE CONTROL WITHOUT THE INTERACTIVE FEATURE. YOU CAN ONLY SET THE FOLLOW DISTANCE AT 200', 100' OR 50'. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO DEACTIVATE THE INTERACTIVE FEATURE BUT THEY CAN'T.

My drivers side door is locked. I started my car, drive off and it auto locks at a certain speed. When I stopped I was unable to unlock the door. I was forced to climb out the passenger side. The car had a manual key lock, this also failed, it will lock the other doors but will not unlock any of them. It failed and there is no manual way to open the door. This is a major safety issue, if I was involved in an accident I would have been trapped in the car. I approached Nissan. They laughed it off and say my car is out of warranty so I must pay to repair this. I understand that, but this is not a broken light or a leaking fuel tank, this failure is a major fail in keeping me safe in my vehicle. When I took it to the dealer for repair they gave me an estimate based on a similar case they had a few weeks before, and I read numerous reports from others owners of vehicles on the internet.

WHEN ON A TEST DRIVE WITH THE NEW 2015 MURANO ON THE HIGHWAY, I ENCOUNTERED A SEMI INFRONT OF ME AND TO THE RIGHT OF ME; A TYPICAL EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE WITH MY 80 MILE DRIVE TO/FROM WORK. THIS IS THE POINT THAT SCARED ME-- IT FELT AS IF THE MURANO WAS BEING LIFTED OFF THE GROUND AND THE WHOLE VEHICLE WAS FLOATING BACK AND FORTH, THE SALES PERSON STATED I JUST CAUGHT SOME DRAFT FROM THE SEMI'S. IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN TRYING TO PARK IN A TIGHT SPOT. SURGE WHEN TRYING TO EASE FORWARD CAUSED VEHICLE TO RUN ONTO STONE WALL. TWO DANGEROUS ISSUES. FIRST IS WHEN I AM WAITING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND HAVE TO GIVE IT A FAST START. THE CAR TOTALLY FAILS AS I DO THIS. I MOVE ABOUT 5 FEET AND THE CAR DOES NOTHING, LEAVING ME HANGING OUT WITH TRAFFIC APPROACHING. EVENTUALLY, AFTER PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL, IT RESPONDS. THE SECOND ISSUE HAPPENED RECENTLY. THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE MORE THAN 30 MPH. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A TYPICAL RURAL ROAD AND THE CAR JUST GAVE UP, ALLOWING ME TO GO 30 MPH AT THE MOST. EVENTUALLY COOPERATED AFTER I STOPPED. IN NOVEMBER 2015, THE CAR FUEL LIGHT CAME ON DURING A TRIP. BEFORE I COULD GET TO A GAS STATION, THE CAR SUDDENLY BECAME SLUGGISH AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MILES PER HOUR. THE ENGINE DID NOT TURN OFF INDICATING IT STILL HAD GAS. I WAS ABOUT A MILE AND A HALF FROM AN EXIT AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ON THE SHOULDER AND GET TO A STATION AND REFILL THE CAR. I TOPPED IT OFF AT 16 GALLONS (CAR HOLDS 19). THE CAR RAN FINE AFTER IT WAS FULL. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION GIVEN THAT TRAFFIC WAS MOVING AT 70 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR DROPPED TO 20 MILES PER HOUR. I CALLED NISSAN USA AND MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS AN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON OR THEY COULD REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IN MARCH 2016, THE CAR FUEL LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON WHILE ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD. WHILE THE CAR REGISTERED 35 MILES LEFT UNTIL EMPTY, THE CAR AGAIN BECAME SLUGGISH AND WOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MPH. I DROVE TO A GAS STATION AND TOPPED IT OFF AT 15.5 GALLONS. THIS TIME, LIKE THE LAST, THE CAR WORKED NORMALLY WHEN IT WAS FULL. IN APRIL 2016, THE DEALER AGREED TO REPLACE THE TWO FUEL LEVEL SENSORS. SINCE THEN I HAVE NOT HAD THE ISSUE BUT ALSO HAVE FILLED UP BEFORE OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. EACH TIME I HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO GET SLIGHTLY OVER 15 GALLONS IN THE TANK. I HAVE NOTICED THAT OTHERS HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL ON AUTOMOTIVE WEBSITES. THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY FOR THOSE WHO SUDDENLY LOSE POWER ON A FREEWAY. CAR OWNERS SHOULD BE WARNED TO FILL UP IMMEDIATELY IF THE FUEL LIKE COMES ON.

THE CAR IS INTERMITTENTLY STALLING WHEN I GET TO ABOUT 1/4 TANK OF GAS. SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS, OTHER TIMES IT STALLS OUT AND TURNS OFF COMPLETELY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAS DONE SO WHEN I PULLED OUT IN TRAFFIC AND THREE TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY. TWICE THE CAR WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES PER HOUR AND WHEN I TRIED TO SPEED UP THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT GO OVER THIS SPEED. I HAD TO PULL OFF OF THE INTERSTATE. FOR THE SECOND TIME MY FRONT COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM SENSOR HAS COME ON AND DISENGAGED MY CRUISE CONTROL WHILE I HAVE BEEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. DEALERSHIP HAS CONFIRMED THIS CODE WHEN TAKEN INTO SHOP. THIS COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO BRAKE SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING. NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED OVER $1200.00 TO FIX. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED ON MANY OCCASIONS. WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN ISSUED? I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE WITH THIS FAULTY SENSOR.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER IN OCTOBER 2019. SINCE THEN, THE FORWARD EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM CONTINUALLY TURNS OFF WITHIN JUST A FEW MILES OF DRIVING THE CAR. THIS ALSO SHUTS DOWN THE CRUISE CONTROL TO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES WHERE I HAD TO PAY FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE RADAR SENSOR THAT CONTROLS THE SYSTEM. IT DID NOT HELP AND THE PROBLEM OCCURS STILL EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY WAY TO RE-ENGAGE THE SYSTEM IS TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN START THE VEHICLE BACK UP. THIS IS THE SAME SYSTEM THAT HAS CAUSED NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE NISSAN ROGUE. THE QUESTION BELOW IS NOT FOR WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN, IT IS MORE OF A CASE OF WHEN HASN'T THIS HAPPENED? PURCHASED THE MURANO 5/15/2018. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH BRAKING/ACCELERATION. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN I START TO APPLY MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN THE ENGINE SEEMS TO REV UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. THIS REQUIRES A NEED FOR ME TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP AND GET IT BACK UNDER CONTROL. THE STRANGE THING IS THAT THIS OCCURS ONLY ABOUT 1/3 OF THE TIME. HOWEVER I FEEL THIS CREATES A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD TO ME AND OTHERS AROUND ME ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER ON ON 2 OCCASIONS TO HAVE THEM CHECK THIS OUT. CVT SHUDDERS AT LOW SPEEDS 20 - 40 MPH, THE FEELING IS AS IF THE GEARS ARE JAMMING AND BANGING AGAINST EACH OTHER; IMMEDIATELY RELEASING ACCELERATOR AND PRESSING FOR HARDER ACCELERATION TEMPORARY SUPPRESSES THIS BEHAVIOR. ANY INCLINES WHERE CAR SLOWS DOWN AND RPM FALLS CAN LEAD TO REOCCURRENCE OF THE SAME. HAPPENS 2/3 TIMES WHEN THESE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE HAPPEN. I BELIEVE THE 'D'-STEP ARTIFICIAL SHIFTER TECHNOLOGY IS GOING OUT OF SYNC WITH REST OF TRANSMISSION ROTATION SPEED AND CAUSING THE GEARS TO GRIND DURING THOSE D-STEP ADJUSTMENTS.

My transmission is on recall the CVT transmission is malfunctioning The transmission flutters and shudders loses power in slow motion when starting to pull off from lights or going up heels, there’s a slipping, feel to the transmission very unsafe to drive during wet, rainy days and snowy days some days absolute power loss this has been a problem since I purchased a vehicle in 2021 until current and it’s getting worse every day I was told about a Nissan Dealership this is just how the transmission shift. I know this information is incorrect because it’s very unsafe to drive.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN SERRAMONTE (LOCATED AT 1500 A COLLINS AVE, COLMA, CA 94014, (650) 550-7200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT CALLED NISSAN SERRAMONTE AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

The sunroof firmware programing failed and did not properly close the sunroof. There was no visible gap or signs of failed sealing. Recently, Southern California was hit with two storms. Unfortunately, the vehicle became flooded due to leaking in the sunroof because it did not close properly. The safety of my passenger and myself were put at risk as the dashboard filled with water, hence compromising airbag safety and electronic components. No error or check lights were illuminated. The vehicle has been inspected by both the dealership and my auto insurance representative. There were zero warning lamps, messages, nor symptoms. Had the sunroof firmware been properly coded, this never would have happened.

IT DOES GO OUT WITH AN ADULT IN THE SEAT . MY COMPLAINT IS THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX AT BEST THIS IS NOT HOW THIS IS DESIGNED TO WORK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN DASH LIGHT BURNS OUT ? NO OTHER VEHICLE I OWN WORKS THIS WAY IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE POSITION OF THE SWITCH IN THE SEAT IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED FOR FREE I DID NOT BUY THIS CAR THINKING THAT NISSAN WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCT A DEFECT IS A DEFECT FIX IT PROPERLY.

THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 3,000 MILES LATER. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

MY NISSAN MURANO HAS AN AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB) SAFETY FEATURE. ABOUT A WEEK AGO, I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE AT WORK. A CAR IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT AND A LITTLE AHEAD OF ME, BUT NOT IN FRONT OF ME. I SLOWED AS I APPROACHED A SPEED BUMP. SPEED AT THIS TIME WAS LESS THAN 10MPH - ABOUT 5 MPH. ONCE SLOWED, TO GET OVER THE SPEED BUMP, I NEEDED TO PRESS ON THE GAS. THE AEB SYSTEM BEEPED QUICKLY AND LOUDLY. THE AEB SYMBOL FLASHED ON MY DASHBOARD. THEN, SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY, THE CAR STOP. THE AEB SYSTEM STOPPED THE CAR. AS IT DID, I LOOKED UP. THE OTHER CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME HAD MANAGED TO GO OVER THE SPEED BUMPS WELL BEFORE ME AND WAS NEVER COMING INTO MY LANE. THE ONLY OTHER THING NEAR ME WAS THE SPEED BUMP SIGN THAT STRADDLED THE MEDIAN TO THE LEFT. BUT AGAIN, IT WAS NOT IN MY LANE. I WAS NOT IN ANY DANGER OF HITTING ANYTHING. THANKFULLY, THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS ABOUT 20 FEET AWAY OR IT WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED ME. I WAS SCARED AND CONFUSED, BUT HAD TO KEEP GOING TO NOT BLOCK THE EXIT LANES. AFTER THAT INCIDENT, I NOTICED THAT THE AEB LIGHT ON MY DASH WOULD FLASH, SOMETIMES BRIEFLY, AGAIN, WHEN I WAS NOT IN ANY DANGER. IN ONE INSTANCES, I PULLED INTO A LANE AS I EXITED A GAS STATION BEHIND A CAR WAITING AT A RED LIGHT. THERE WAS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME SO I APPROACHED SLOWLY TO GET IN LINE AT THE LIGHT. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. AND AS I PRESSED THE GAS TO BEGIN TO ACCELERATE, THE AEB LIGHT FLASHED. THIS TIME, THE CARS BEHIND ME WERE CLOSER AND STARTING TO PICK UP SPEED. THE CAR DID NOT STOP, THANKFULLY. BUT THESE SITUATIONS CONTINUED AND OCCURRED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. I CALLED THE DEALER TO ASK ABOUT RECALLS. THE SERVICE TECH DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY RECALLS AND OFFERED TO TEST IT FOR $145. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY NISSAN. WE PAID EXTRA FOR THIS FEATURE AND NOW I CAN'T TRUST IT AND WORRY IT IS FAULTY.

WEEK OF 9/192016, RECEIVED CALL FROM DEALER CENTRAL APPOINTMENTS (SHEEHY NISSAN WALDORF) TELLING ME PART WAS IN AND WAS GIVEN APPT ON 9/23/2016 TO HAVE ABS ACTUATOR REPLACED. ON 9/23, AT DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD NISSAN IS NOT REPLACING ABS ACTUATOR AS CALLED FOR IN CAMPAIGN UNLESS IT HAS LEAKED AND ABS LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS A PART NON-CONFORMANCE ISSUE. WHEN SEAL ALLOWS LEAK, IT DRIPS ON CIRCUIT BOARD WHICH WILL CAUSE A FIRE. REMEDY IS TO PARK VEHICLE, CALL FOR TOW AND GET RENTAL. THIS IS UNSAFE AND REMAINS SO. NISSAN RECALL STATES "YOUR NISSAN DEALER WILL INSPECT THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE ABS ACTUATOR, AND IF IT IS WITHIN THE AFFECTED RANGE, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE ABS ACTUATOR WITH A NEW ABS ACTUATOR AT NO COST." MY ACTUATOR IS WITHIN AFFECTED RANGE AND NISSAN IS NOT COMPLYING WITH THEIR OWN RECALL REMEDY.

STARTED ABOUT 1 1/2 WEEKS AGO (APPROX 2900 MILES ON THE ODOMETER), FIRST TIME WASNT EXPECTING IT AND HOPED IT WAS JUST A FLUKE, 2ND TIME IT HAPPENED EARLY MY DAUGHTERS WERE WITH ME AND ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR WHEN IT HAPPENED, AND THEN AGAIN THE OTHER MORNING AT THE END OF MY 45 MIN RIDE INTO WORK. EACH TIME IT HAPPENED WAS WHEN I WAS MERGING FROM AN ON RAMP INTO TRAFFIC. THE LAST OCCURANCE, AND I BELIEVE THE OTHERS AS WELL, I WAS GOING APPROX 35MPH, STAYING STEADY ON THE SPEED LOOKING FOR A SPOT IN TRAFFIC TO MERGE INTO, GIVING IT GAS AND STARTED MY MERGE ONLY TO FEEL AND HEAR NO CHANGE IN RPM OR SPEED, GIVING IT MORE AND MORE PETAL, AND STILL NO CHANGE IN SPEED AT ALL, AFTER AVOIDING THE OTHER DRIVER THAT ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE OF IT, I MOVED BACK OVER AND HAD A MOMENT AND TRIED AGAIN TO GET INTO THE PETAL AT ALMOST WIDE OPEN THROTTLE AND STILL NO RPM CHANGE AND NO MOVEMENT UP IN SPEED (ALSO STILL NO LOSS OF SPEED), DURING EACH OCCURRENCE THE CAR WAS SMOOTH (NO ENGINE BUCKING JUST WOULDN'T RESPOND TO GAS INPUT). THE SAME SYMPTOMS HAVE OCCURED THE THREE TIMES IT'S OCCURED. THE RESOLVE EACH TIME WAS THE SAME, LET OFF THE GAS FOR 1-2 SECS, GIVE IT GAS AND THE CAR DROVE AGAIN AS NORMAL. DEALERSHIP HAS LOOKED AT MY CAR WITH NO EXPLINATION, NO TROUBLE CODES WERE GENERATED, AND THEY STATED TRANNY FLUID WAS FINE. IT ACTED LIKE THE CVT WAS STUCK ON A PARTICULAR BAND AND ALSO WOULDN'T ALLOW ANY ADDITIONAL GAS, HENCE NO ADDITIONAL SPEED. THE LAST OCCURANCE IT WAS ABOUT 35 DEGREES OUT. I HAVE TRIED TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS AT ALL, AND WITH NO CODES BEING GENERATED TO POINT THE DEALEFSHIP TO ANY ISSUE, THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AS IT GOES UNRESOLVED.

TWO TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE ROADS. MY GAS GAUGE AND TRIP MONITOR INDICATED I HAD ABOUT 60 MILES UNTIL EMPTY THEN AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES IT SAID ABOUT 30 MILES TO EMPTY AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT CAR STARTED SPUTTERING AND LOSING POWER AND I HAD TO MAKE EMERGENCY MOVES TO KEEP FROM GETTING HIT. BOTH TIMES I WAS ABLE TO PULL UNTO THE SHOULDER AND DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE TO A GAS STATION TO FILL THE TANK WHICH TOOK ONLY SLIGHTLY OVER 15 GALLONS AND THE TANK HOLDS 19 GALLONS. I HAVE FOUND THE IDENTICAL COMPLAINT ON SEVERAL WEB SITES AND THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY HELP FROM NISSAN OR EVEN AN ADMITTANCE THAT THE PROBLEM EXITS. I JUST RETURNED FROM MY DEALER IN NAPLES, FL. AND ALL THEY COULD TELL ME WAS THAT NO ERROR CODES WERE SHOWING AND I COULD NOT EXPECT THE GAUGE TO BE ACCURATE AT ALL TIMES SINCE IT IS CONSTANTLY RECALCULATING AND CHANGING DISTANCE TO EMPTY. THAT REALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM SINCE THE CAR WAS APPARENTLY NOT OUT OF GAS AND IN THE PAST I HAVE PUT OVER 18 GALLONS IN THE TANK SO I AM CERTAIN IT WAS NOT OUT OF GAS. I BELIEVE THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM WITH THE PICKUP TUBE, SENSORS OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH. HAVING YOUR VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALL IN FRONT OF A SEMI TRUCK IS NO LAUGHING MATTER AND WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE ESCAPED WITHOUT A MAJOR ACCIDENT. My vehicle stop on the highway. Jut cut off out of nowhere. And has been cutting off and losing power. I replaced the battery which I thought was the problem. Then I thought it was the alternator so I took it to nissan to have a diagnostic and they said it was not and that no codes came up that a positive battery cable had to be replaced. I was charged 342 for a diagnostic and to change a cable. They told me to pick up my vehicle and got home it was still cutting off. I took it to O'Reilly they said it was the alternator. Nissan just took my money. Also they printed out a list of other problems that were not addressed or need be repair on this vehicle that i purchased at 118,000 miles. I dont even drive this vehicle to have all these part to have yo be replaced. The powers steering is leaking and the air bag and seat belt light appears to stay on.

Car shut off while driving 60 miles per hour on the hwy. Battery light was on but I just had it checked and it was good. Seat belt light was also on but I had mine on and there were no other passengers. The collision light has repeatedly come on and off since I bought the vehicle new.

Please note that although this system does not show that the recall repairs were complete, we have documentation from Nissan that we completed the recall work twice. On Tuesday, [XXX] at approximately [XXX]. our Nissan Murano spontaneously caught fire in our driveway. My family, including my [XXX] and a [XXX], woke up to the airbags exploding. We got our family out of the house as we spoke to the 911 dispatcher and the Murano went up in flames. Our doorbell camera caught the incident in its entirety (from the smoke under the hood to the inferno of flames) and the Montgomery County fire and explosive expert agrees that the start of the fire is likely from the ABS actuator issue stemming from Nissan’s recall in 2019. We are also hearing that it’s the worst spontaneous vehicle fire anyone has ever seen. After the incident, in good faith, we contacted Nissan North America who referred us to Nissan’s regional office for our area...they told us we have to hold the wreckage in our driveway for 8 weeks or possibly longer and that they will not help us mitigate it or provide a rental. Had our Nissan been parked in our garage, it would have been next to our mudroom which contains the gas line to our dryer. Our house would have exploded and my entire family would have died. My children cannot sleep and my pediatrician has recommended a psychologist for the entire family. My son and I have coughs from breathing in the fumes and cannot attend doctors’ appointments because we have no safe transportation. I have missed work, the burned vehicle in our driveway is melted and is a safety and health hazard for us and our neighbors. Our garage door, gutters, and soffits are melted, and there is potential damage to our roof. There is exploded glass everywhere, and my other car is un-drivable, structurally unsound, and melted on the right side, having been parked next to the Murano and torched under 1,500 degree heat for almost 40 minutes. The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, she noticed an abnormal burning odor. The contact stated that the odor persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that coolant was leaking externally from the head gasket bank #1 and bank #2, and was entering the combustion chamber, causing damage to the engine and the CVT transmission. The dealer determined that the engine and the CVT transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a partial cost of the repair would be covered. The failure mileage was approximately 50,300.

Upon braking to take a right hand turn car died, just stopped accelerating even though all lights on and running. No response at all when pushing pedal to the floor. Would go in reverse but only very low speed. Replaced alternator. Seemed ok but 4 months later same exact problem happened and car is not drivable again.

I bought this Nissan Murano after the owner of Suncoast Quality Cars gives me the NADA - Consumers Report, which states the car was scored as an 82, in "Good Condition" with major repairs needed. After picking the Murano up 1-week after I made the purchase, when driven more than a couple of miles, you could feel the transmission slipping. While the owner of Suncoast said that his mechanic had done a full diagnostic test and had confirmed NADA's scoring, just to make sure I took it to Courtesy Nissan of Tampa and paid for their Certified Nissan Mechanics to do a full diagnostic test. Courtesy Nissan's Diagnostic test revealed that the transmission would need to be replaced, which while I did purchase a used car warranty from Suncoast, the car has been out of commission since roughly a week after receiving delivery from Suncoast. When I contacted [XXX] (Owner) by email on 4-separate occasions, from 2-separate email addresses, and text, he states he never received them. Given the owner's approach, and refusing to own up to his lies, or take any kind of responsibility here, I would like a full refund, as I would have never purchased the car, if I knew it had a major safety issue and would have to have the transmission replaced immediately after delivery, and I most certainly wouldn't have paid the price of a car that NADA stated was in "Good Condition", as the cost of the transmission is actually 65% of the price I paid for the car. With the transmission needing to be replaced, the same measuring tool (NADA) that Suncoast used to sell me the car, actually states the car is worth thousands-less. The front radar obstruction light on my 1025 Nissan Murano has occasionally come off and on in bad weather (to be expected) and under normal driving conditions. I have had to have it are-aligned previously. Recently however, the light started coming on and off when I was stopped or in park. It would clear when I started driving. Eventually it would start coming on and stay on for very long stretches of time. I brought the car in to be looked at and was told I needed a new sensor for approximately $1500. I got no other explanation. I have seen hundreds, if not thousands of complaints about these sensors going bad. I even found a recall campaign (NTB19-033/A) for the exact problem. I was told this is a service campaign and it seemed as if it was at the dealerships discretion to follow the campaign. I am not sure if the manufactured date was even looked at as stated in the campaign. I have had numerous occasions where I have been using cruise control on the highway and all of a sudden the car starts slowing down without my immediate knowledge. There is no way to bypass this sensor in order to use cruise control either. I feel that this issue is a safety concern and the part should be recalled.

The climate control drivers seat does not operate. Nissan is aware of the situation and have issued a technical bulletin 1/17/19 Classification #EL18-035 Reference # NTB19-004. There are at least 1000 cases sited on the internet. I would like to know if there will be a recall issued as this is a safety fire hazard.

THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING AND IN TURN DEACTIVATES THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE LAST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY IN CLEAR WEATHER CONDITIONS WITH AN 18-WHEELER FOLLOWING IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE CODE SHOWED THAT THE DISTANCE SENSOR 'MUST BE REPLACED' BECAUSE IT WAS OUT-OF-DATE. WHEN I ASKED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE CAR TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT, THEY REFUSED. I HAVE DEALT WITH FOUR PEOPLE AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY REFUSE TO PAY THE $1400 TO REPLACE THE FAULTY FACTORY ORIGINAL PART. ALSO NOTE, I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TWO TIMES IN 9 MONTHS ON THIS VEHICLE AND THOSE WERE COVERED UNDER THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED WARRANTY. I AM BEGINNING TO SUSPECT I HAVE A LEMON.

THEY SAID I NEEDED TO HAVE MY CRANK SHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR CHANGED; I PAID AND HAD IT REPLACED AND STILL I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO KINGS NISSAN AT CONEY ISLAND BROOKLYN 2 WEEKS AGO AND IT'S STILL THERE AND THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON. NOW I AM BEING TOLD THEY'LL HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR APART TO FIGURE WHAT'S THE PROBLEM AND THAT'LL COST ME ABOUT A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR LABOR, NOT INCLUSIVE OF ANY PARTS THAT MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR THAT HAD LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT HAS HAD TO HAVE THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM REPLACED, THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED, THE LEATHER SEATS HAVE TEARS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR SEAT, THE WINDSHIELD HAS OVER A DOZEN CHIPS IN IT AND MOST RECENTLY, WHEN DRIVING, MY GAS GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY ALTHOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED IT UP LESS THAN 16 HOURS EARLIER AND HAD NOT DONE ANY DRIVING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FORWARD BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.
