WE RECENTLY HAD TO CHANGE THE ALTERNATOR AND NOTICED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT THE SUBFRAME HAS A LARGE HOLE IN IT AND IS COMPLETELY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN HIT THERE AND IT HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT RELATED TO THAT AREA AT ALL, VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT MY HOME WHEN THIS WAS FOUND AND STILL IS I DID NOT TAKE ANY PICTURES AT THAT TIME OF THE ROTTING HOLE IN THE SUBFRAME I CAN GET PICTURES BUT WE WILL HAVE TO REMOVE RIGHT SIDE FRONT TIRE SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS HAS TO BE DONE. *TR

I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SOME MAINTENANCE/REPAIR TO THE FRONT AXLE ON 1/16/2020 AND THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE SUBFRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BY THE FRONT TIRE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE HE CAN PUSH HIS FINGER THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE FRAME. HE TOLD ME HE COULD NOT BELIEVE I HAD NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IN HIS OPINION HITTING A MEDIUM SIZE CHUCKHOLE IN THE ROADWAY COULD CAUSE THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY COLLAPSE. THE MECHANIC INDICATED THIS DID NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT AND HAS BEEN ONGOING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE AT MY HOME DURING ITS USE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME AND NOT ROUTINELY LEFT PARKED ON THE STREET. THE MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT IN HIS OPINION IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE VERY FAR.

I AM WRITING DUE TO THE FACT I TOOK MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST INTO THE SHOP TODAY BECAUSE OF A LOOSE STEERING WHEEL AND A HORRIBLE CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE. MY VAN ONLY HAS 97,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF VERY WELL. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE THE SUBFRAME IS BASICALLY ROTTING AWAY AND IS THE WORST HE HAS SEEN IN 50 YEARS OF WORK. I'VE READ NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS ONLINE OF OTHER WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I FEEL LIKE NISSAN SHOULD HELP COVER THE COST OF MY REPAIRS DUE TO POOR MANUFACTURING AND POOR QUALITY OF PARTS. THERE WAS NOISE COMING OUT FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND UPON APPLYING BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL WAS GETTING PULLED FORCEFULLY TO THE RIGHT. THINKING THAT THERE COULD BE SOME PROBLEM WITH THE STRUTS, I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP. THE REPAIR SHOP NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE SUB-FRAME (FRAME OR ENGINE CRADLE) UNDER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND ALMOST COMPLETELY GIVING AWAY. A HIGH-SPEED BUMP OR A SUDDEN BRAKING MAY HAVE CAUSED IT TO GIVE AWAY COMPLETELY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GO COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR IS OLD BUT THAT OLD FOR THE FRAME TO GIVE AWAY. THIS IS A COSTLY REPAIR BUT MORE THAN THAT IT IS A SAFETY CRITICAL ISSUE THAT MAY LEAD TO A BAD ACCIDENT. THE ONLY REASON THIS MAY BE NOTICED BEFORE SOMETHING DREADFUL HAPPENED IS ONLY BY CHANCE. THE DRIVERS MIGHT BE NOTICING OTHER ISSUES THAT PROMPTS THEM TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP WHILE THE OTHER SIDES OF THE FRAME ARE HOLDING UP THE VEHICLE FOR SOME TIME. SOME FURTHER RESEARCH SHOWED THAT THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY QUITE A FEW CONSUMERS (FRAME RUSTED/BREAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE), BUT NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN THUS FAR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND I-TEAM NEWS REPORTS ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES, BUT NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN. REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE OTHERS WHO QUIETLY GET THEIR CARS REPAIRED BUT NOT LODGE A COMPLAINT. GIVEN MY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH NISSAN ON A DIFFERENT ISSUE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE (CAM SENSOR FAILURE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF COMPLETELY (WHILE DRIVING) THAT COMPLETELY JAMS THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE COULD ONLY BE BROUGHT TO STOP BY APPLYING PARKING BRAKE). I DON'T TRUST NISSAN TO TAKE ANY ACTION UNLESS THEY ARE FORCED TO.

TAMARA INFLATORS, SENT MY VAN TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER FOR BRAKE REPAIRMEN. I WAS TOLD SINCE THE FRONT SUBFRAME AT PASSENGER SIDE HAD SEVERE RUST AREA, MY VAN IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IT WILL COST ME MORE THAN $4,000 TO REPLACE. I CHECKED INTERNET. THERE ARE MANY SAME PROBLEMS OCCURRED ON 2004 QUEST. IT LOOKS LIKE THE DEFECT OF MATERIALS TO ME.

THE CAR WOULD STALL AND THE STEERING WOULD GO OUT, WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS. IT HAPPENED DAILY SINCE MAY OF 2016. IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO GO FROM STOPPED TO A STARTING POSITION, IT WOULD TAKE ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO PUSH DOWN ON ACCELERATOR TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE.

I BELIEVE A SENSOR SOMEWHERE IS GOING OUT. THE TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY WILL "MISS" A SHIFT, OR COME OUT OF GEAR. IF I LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THEN GIVE IT GAS AGAIN, IT WILL SOMETIMES "SLAM" IN TO GEAR. WHEN IT IS ACTING UP, IT WILL ALSO TAKE A COUPLE SECONDS TO GO IN TO DRIVE FROM PARK OR REVERSE, THEN IT "SLAMS" IN TO GEAR. IT ALSO IS LACKING IN POWER, ALMOST AS IF A VACUUM ADVANCE WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS WARM. ONCE, AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO WORK FINE FOR SOME TIME BEFORE STARTING TO ACT UP AGAIN.

AFTER THE MINIVAN IS WARMED UP FOR 15-20 MINUTES THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE I'VE BEEN HIT FORM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DOWN SHIFT TO 1 ST GEAR IT SLIPS AND THE RPM GAUGE MOVES BACK AND FORTH. MECHANICS SHOP HAVE TOLD ME THE SOLENOIDS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TRANSMISSION IS ONLY 108,000 MILES.

ENGINE CONTROL MODULE [ECM] DUE TO A BAD DESIGN,RAIN AND WATER FROM MELTING SNOW LEAKS ONTO THE ECM AND DESTROYS IT.I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE 2004 QUEST AND THAT NISSAN HAD A SECRET RECALL ON VEHICLES UP TO 8 YEARS OLD.WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED TO 20 MPH,I WAS LUCKY TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY.WHY DID NISSAN NOT NOTIFY ALL OWNERS.

ON 10/08/2015 - WITHIN 10 DAYS AFTER MY LAST SERVICING THRU NISSAN DEALER I LOST TRANSMISSION ON MY NISSAN QUEST 3.5 SE MODEL YEAR 2004 WITH MILEAGE 110000. IT WAS VERY PAINFUL EXPERIENCE AS VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO TOM WOOD DEALER WHERE ITS BEEN REPLACED AT A VERY HIGH COST FROM MY POCKET THAT I WAS NOT PREPARED. I WAS SURPRIZED ON THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE FOR SUCH A LOW MILEAGE BUT MORE SURPISE THAT THE DEALER COULD NOT DETECT IT DURING MULTI-POINT INSPECTION CHECK AFTER EVERY OIL CHANGE SERVICING. FOR THE SAKE OF RECORD, I HAVE PERFORMED ALL OF THE QUEST SERVICING (100%) THRU THE DEALER FROM WHERE I BOUGHT THIS VAN INITIALLY. ALSO I HAD REPLACED TRANSMISSION OIL AT 60K MILE SERVICING THAT WAS RECOMMENDED AT THAT TIME. THIS VAN IS WELL MAINTAINED AND STILL GOT THIS TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS A SURPIZE AND RAISES CONCERNS TO THE NISSAN DROPPING QUALITY. ALSO I WAS LOOKING ONLINE AND NOTICED QUEST 2004 HAS THIS PROBLEM, KNOWN FOR BAD TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS AND CASE REPORTED AGAINST NISSAN USA. MY INSTRUMENT PANEL NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL. I CAN NOT TELL HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE, READ MY (WHICH AFFECTS MY ABILITY TO GET AN OIL CHANGE ANYWHERE) , AND MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE. I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS IN NEGATIVE TEMPS WITH KIDS IN THE CAR. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO BUY A NEW INSTRUMENT PANEL, THE COST IS OVER $300. ONCE I FINALLY SAVED THE MONEY I WAS TOLD BY NISSAN THAT THE PART WAS DISCONTINUED! I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND DISCOVERED I AM ONLY ONE OF HUNDREDS WITH SAME ISSUE!

THE GAUGES FOR THE CURRENT MILEAGE, FUEL, TEMPERATURE ARE ALL GOING IN AND OUT. THIS ISSUE MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE CAR, SO I JUST KEEP PUTTING IN $15-$20 EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS TO KEEP IT FULL (WHERE THE AMOUNT IS ABLE TO BE SEEN). I MAKE SURE THERE IS ANTIFREEZE IN THE RADIATOR AND THE RESERVE BOTTLE AS WELL. KEEP THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY ALSO.

CAR FIRE. OUR MINIVAN WAS PARKED, THE ENGINE SHUTOFF AND THE KEYS WERE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE CAR SAT FOR THREE HOURS IN VERY COLD WEATHER IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. BASED ON THE VIDEOS, IT APPEARS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED SPARKING AND SET THE ENGINE AREA ON FIRE. EVENTUALLY THE CAB WAS ON FIRE AND THE ENTIRE MINIVAN WAS BURNED AND COMPLETELY LOST. IT TOOK 7 MINUTES FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ARRIVE AND AN ADDITIONAL 11 MINUTES FOR THE FIREMEN TO EXTINGUISH THE RAGING FIRE. ALL THIS WAS CAUGHT ON A NEIGHBOR'S SECURITY CAMERA. THE VIDEO FILES ARE OVER 5 MB SO THIS WEBSITE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO UPLOAD THE VIDEO FILES. I SHOULD ALSO MENTION WE DROVE THE VAN EARLIER IN THE DAY WITHOUT PROBLEMS.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while at a complete stop, the driver and passenger side front overhead airbags deployed without impact. The contact sustained headaches and sought medical treatment 2 days later with his doctor. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.

MY HUSBAND WAS ACCELERATING AFTER BEING AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A SIGN AND THERE WAS AN EXHAUST PIPE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE PIPE HIT OUR MUFFLER AND AFTER ABOUT 500 YARDS, BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND THE CAR ALARM WENT OFF FOR 15-20 MINUTES. AFTER HAVING THE VAN TOWED TO AN AUTOBODY SHOP, THEY COULD ONLY FIND ONE POINT OF IMPACT IN THE MUFFLER. WE SPOKE TO NISSAN AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO KNOWN ISSUES AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. OUR INSURANCE IS NOW TOTALING THE VEHICLE. *TR

2004 NISSAN QUEST. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A FAULTY DESIGN/ INSTALLATION OF ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ECM WAS INSTALLED DIRECTLY UNDER THE WINDSHIELD PLASTIC COWL. THE OPEN MESH COWL WOULD DRAIN ALL THE WATER DIRECTLY ONTO THE ECM. IT WAS HOW WATER DRIPPED ON THE ECM'S ENCLOSURE, THAT CAUSED THE CORROSION PREMATURELY. THE REPAIRMAN EVEN DECIDED NOT TO INSTALL THE REPLACEMENT IN ITS ORIGINAL BRACKET TO AVOID ACCUMULATING MOISTURE.

I OWN A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. I RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN AT A COST OF $1500.00. I AM QUITE ANGRY ABOUT THIS SINCE I HAVE RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE QUEST. THIS IS AN ISSUE NISSAN SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE CAR FOR. I WAS TOLD HAT IF THIS CHAIN HAD BROKEN WHILE I WAS DRIVNG, IT COULD CAUSE TEH THE ENGINE TRO SEIZE. WELL THAT IS JUST GREAT TO KNOW THAT I HAND MY DAUGHTER THE KEYS TO THIS CAR AND THEY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WHENEVER WE HIT THE BRAKES OUR 2004 NISSAN QUEST SHUTTERS AND SHAKES. WE FIRST REPORTED THE PROBLEM AT ABOUT 23,000 MILES. VAN HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 5 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. MECHANIC CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ON OUR OWN WE HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED BOTH ORIGINAL ROTORS HAD WARPED, REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS THREE TIMES, AND TURNED THE ROTORS 6 MONTHS AFTER REPLACING THEM (79K MILES). VAN GOES BACK INTO THE DEALER NEXT WEEK AGAIN TO HAVE THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED AGAIN AS IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. ON NOVEMBER 9, 2008 A FRIEND OF MY DAUGHTER WAS ATTEMPTING TO ADJUST HER MID ROW PASSENGER SEAT FORWARD AND HER LEFT MIDDLE FINGER WAS CRUSHED BY THE MECHANISM FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT OUT BY PUTTING THE SEAT BACK IN THE ORIGINAL POSITION. PURCHASED 2004 NISSAN QUEST IN JANUARY OF 2004. THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM EMITTED A VERY FOUL (MUSTY) ODOR THE FIRST TIME I USED THE SYSTEM IN MARCH. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALER. THEY ADMITTED THAT THERE WAS AN ODOR, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR. THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER ON 9/16/04. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VAN ON 9/23/04. WHEN THE SMELL RETURNED, I TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALER ON 10/20/04. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS RIDE IN THIS VAN. AS SOON AS THEY WOULD SIT IN THE VAN, THEY WOULD ASK ABOUT THE SMELL. TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALER ON 6/7/05 AS THE SMELL HAD RETURNED. THIS TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE IN-CABIN AIR FILTER (SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE) AND SPRAYED LYSOL IN THE VENTS AND A/C DUCTS. THE VAN CONTINUED TO SMELL AND WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON 6/21/05. THIS TIME, THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS DISASSEMBLED THE DASH TO ACCESS THE EVAPORATOR. THE MOISTURE DRAIN TUBE (WHICH IS CLEAR) WAS BROWN. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THIS. NISSAN CLEANED THE TUBE AND REASSEMBLED THE DASH. SINCE EACH OF THESE REPAIRS WAS WARRANTY WORK, I REQUESTED THAT NISSAN PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR. SINCE NISSAN CLAIMS THAT NO REPAIR WORK WAS DONE, I HAD TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL CAR EACH TIME. I CONDUCTED SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT MOLD AND BACTERIA IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR AUTOMOBILE A/C SYSTEMS. MOST CAR MANUFACTURERS HAVE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN DOES NOT. I MAILED A LETTER TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEIR REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ONCE AND TOLD TO TAKE THE VAN BACK IN FOR SERVICE. EACH TIME I TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, I WOULD CALL THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS. HE NEVER RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS. DURING MY LAST SERVICE CALL WITH NISSAN ON 6/21/05, I GAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER A COPY OF A DOCUMENT THAT LISTS THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBS) THAT MOST CAR MANUFACTURERS HAVE FOR TREATING THE MOLD AND BACTERIA. NISSAN DOES NOT HAVE A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE. *NM

(1) EVER SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE ON MAY 1 2004, THE A/C SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFORMING POORLY. (2) ON A 100 TO 110 DEGREE DAY IN PHOENIX ARIZONA, THE A/C AT BEST CAN BLOW 60 TO 70 DEGREES OUT OF THE FRONT VENTS EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR 1 HOUR. MY OTHER 2 VEHICLES AND MY FRIEND'S 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY ALL BLOW 40 DEGREES OUT OF THEIR FRONT VENTS. THE QUEST A/C SYSTEM IS UNACCEPTABLE ESPECIALLY WITH 6 MONTH TWINS IN THE VEHICLE SWEATING. THESE READINGS WERE MEASURED WITH A THERMOMETER. (3) THE QUEST HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THEY FOUND THE FREON LEVEL WAS UNDERCHARGED. THEY RECHARGED THE FREON AND CHECK FOR LEAKS IN WHICH NONE WERE FOUND. 2ND AND 3RD TIME, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING SINCE THE A/C SYSTEM WAS OPERATING WITHIN THEIR SPECIFICATIONS. AT 104 DEGREES, THE A/C SYSTEM CAN BLOW 72 TO 78 DEGREES AND STILL BE WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. THE SPECIFICATION RANGE IS UNACCEPTABLE WHERE OTHER VEHICLES CAN EASILY PERFORM BETTER. THIS IS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE LIVING IN A HOT CLIMATE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE WITH MY TWINS IN MIND. IF WE KNEW THE A/C SYSTEM WAS GOING TO PERFORM POORLY THEN WE WOULD HAVE NOT PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE. 4TH TIME:AFTER CALLING 1800NISSAN1, WE TOOK THE QUEST TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND OPINION. WARNING LIGHTS "SLIP", "TCS OFF" AND "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WOULD INTERMITTENTLY REMAIN ON WELL PAST IGNITION -- USUALLY AFTER THE ENGINE HAD STRUGGLED TO START. DASHBOARD "TCS ON" SWITCH DID NOTHING TO REMEDY THIS. SOMETIMES, EVEN WHEN THE VAN WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 25 TO 55MPH, THESE LIGHTS WOULD SUDDENLY POP ON AND THE ENGINE WOULD STALL OUT, DEPRIVING ME OF MOST OF MY STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITIES WITH TRAFFIC RIGHT BEHIND ME. IN MY AREA, THE MAIN HIGHWAY IS HEAVILY TRAVELED, FULL OF CURVES AND OFTEN NARROWS TO 2 LANES WITH VERY LIMITED SHOULDERS. THE ENGINE DYING UNEXPECTEDLY ON THIS ROAD IS A SAFETY HAZARD NOT ONLY TO EVERYONE IN MY VEHICLE BUT TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS WELL. I AM FREQUENTLY FOLLOWED BY FULLY-LOADED LOGGING TRUCKS AND SEMIS, WHOSE DRIVERS WOULD FIND IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT (IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE) TO AVOID HITTING ME, ESPECIALLY IF I WERE IN A SPOT WHERE I COULD NOT COAST ALL THE WAY OFF THE ROAD. WE PURCHASED OUR 2004 NISSAN QUEST ON OCTOBER 6TH, 2003. THIS WAS A VEHICLE THAT WE WANTED TO GET FOR OUR FAMILY AFTER REVIEWING SAFETY INFORMATION ETC. NOT EVEN TWO WEEKS AFTER WE HAD FINALIZED THE SALE, TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS ALL OVER A PARKING LOT DUE TO A PLASTIC CLAMP NOT BEING REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP. OUR VAN WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN ORDER FOR EVERYTHING TO BE CHECKED OUT. OUR SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND WE ARE VERY LUCKY THAT THERE WEREN'T ANY INJURIES TO REPORT. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND WITH THE ACCELERATOR "FLOORED" OUR VAN WOULD NOT GO OVER 55 MPH. ON A MAIN HIGHWAY THIS IS NOT SAFE DUE TO OTHER DRIVERS DOING ABOVE THE SPEED LIMIT OR WELL ABOVE. WE TRIED TO TAKE IT TO OUR DEALERSHIP BUT WITH IT BEING PAST BUSINESS HOURS THERE WAS NO WAY THAT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MEET WITH A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS CAR AND CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IN LESS THAN A YEAR, WE ARE TAKING IT IN AGAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT WORKED ON. LUCKILY OUR DEALERSHIP HAS GONE ABOVE WHAT WE ASKED AND HAS DONE THEIR BEST TO WORK WITH US, BUT WITHOUT OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING AND THIS NOT BEING INVESTIGATED THERE IS LITTLE THAT THEY CAN DO TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM TO FIX IT. ON THE WAY HOME FROM DEALERSHIP, CAR SUDDENLY DIED IN A TURN ON A MAJOR INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR. NEARLY HIT A CAR AND A CURB BEFORE I COULD STOP VEHICLE. MY CHILDREN WERE ONBOARD! UNKNOWN TO ME, GASOLINE WAS POURING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. CARS WERE ZOOMING BY ON THEIR WAY HOME. I HAVE NISSAN QUEST 2004 MINI VAN. 2 WEEKS BACK ONE DAY MY SON 7 YEAR OLD GOT TRAPPED IN THE 3RD ROW SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. WE COULDN'T TAKE HIM OUT. IF I TRY TO LOOSE THE BELT THE IT KEEP LOCKING FINALLY I HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT. USUALLY IF THE BELT LOCKSUP THEN IF YOU RELEASE THE BELT IT USUALLY FREES UP BUT IT DIDN'T DO IT . THE CONTACT'S SON PULLED THE SEAT BELT ACROSS HIS CHEST AND SIMULTANEOUSLY ATTEMPTED TO TURN HIS BODY, WHICH RESULTED IN THE SEAT BELT WRAPPING AROUND HIS NECK. I WANTED TO NOTIFY YOU OF THE DEFECT IN THE POWER DOOR MECHANISM OF THE 2004 NISSAN QUEST SL. MY VIN NUMBER IS [XXX]. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO PORTER NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN NEWARK, DE TO BE FIXED ON AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED AND IT STILL MALFUNCTIONS. I HAVE ALSO RAISED CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS MECHANISM WITH THE DEALER ON MANY OCCASIONS. I BELIEVE THE DEFECT IS 2 FOLD. 1. INCONSISTENT CLOSING: WHEN A BUTTON IS PUSHED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT DOES NOT ALWAYS CLOSE. IT GOES TO ABOUT 6 INCHES FROM CLOSURE AND THEN BACKS OPEN. THIS GETS TO BE VERY FRUSTRATING. 2. 2004 NISSAN QUEST LE HAS HAD THE "VDC OFF" WARNING LIGHT COME ON PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS, WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. VDC IS THE VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGNED TO ASSIST DRIVER WITH CONTROL AND STABILITY OF VEHICLE DURING SLIPS OR SWERVES WHILE DRIVING. DEALER HAD DIFFICULTY DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM BUT A RECENT VISIT ON 7/28/08 PRESENTED ME WITH AN EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT OF THE ABS ACTUATOR. ON NOVEMBER 27, 2013, WHILE PARKED OUTSIDE OF MY HOME, MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST BURST INTO FLAMES. THE CAR WITHIN SECONDS WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES, AND THERE WAS NOTHING ANYONE COULD DO BUT GET AS FAR AWAY FROM IT AS POSSIBLE AND HOPE THERE WOULD BE NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES. THEY REPLACED THE PUMP AND REFILLED IT WITH ANTIFREEZE. I HAD MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS FIXED BECAUSE THEY SAID AS THEY DID A COURTESY MULTIPOINT INSPECTION THE WIPERS WEREN'?T WORKING BECAUSE OF A WIPER LINK ISSUE. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE CAR I NOTICED ON THE RECEIPT THAT THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK ISSUE AND AIR FILTER ISSUE THAT WAS DISCOVERED IN THE MULTIPOINT INSPECTION. THEY ALSO NOTED THAT MY TIMING CHAIN WAS NOISY AT STARTUP AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED FURTHER TO GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. AT NO TIME WAS I TOLD THAT THE CAR WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE. 2004 NISSAN QUEST. CONSUMER STATES SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THE POWER WINDOWS AND POWER DOORS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. LATER ON, THE WINDOW REVERTED BACK TO ITS PROPER CLOSING PROCEDURE AND OPERATED AS IT WAS DESIGNED. THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DIDN'T FUNCTION AS IT SHOULD. IT ALL STARTED WHEN THE CONSUMER'S GRANDSON WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE BY PUSHING THE OPEN BUTTON FROM THE INSIDE. BETWEEN THE DATES OF FEB 10-17, 2008; MY 2004 NISSAN QUEST MINIVAN BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE TCS, SLIP, AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH AND A HUMMING NOISE WAS COMING FROM MY ENGINE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (WERE I PURCHASED IT FROM), AND AS I PULLED INTO THE LOT THE LIGHTS WENT OFF (FEB 28). THE SERVICE REP. TOLD ME THE INFORMATION SHOULD BE STORED IN MY VAN'S COMPUTER SYSTEM. I PAID $97.40 FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO HOOK MY CAR UP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT ABS SYSTEM PUMP AND MODULE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1790. THE SERVICE REP ALSO TOLD ME THAT WHAT EVER WAS CAUSING THE HUMMING NOISE WOULD BE REPAIRED. ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX, BECAUSE ON MY WAY BACK HOME THE NOISE STARTED AGAIN. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONAL BUT MY ABS UNIT DID NOT AFFECT MY NORMAL BRAKES. UNTIL I COULD HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE, AND WITH NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY VAN. I CALLED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASK IF THERE WAS ANYWAY FOR THEM TO DISCONNECT THE ABS SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS CONTINUING TO DRAIN MY BATTERY. AND I WAS TOLD NO, THE ONLY WAY WAS TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE. ON MARCH 8, I PART MY VAN AND THREE HOURS LATER I RETURNED TO MY VAN AND IT WOULD NOT START. SO IT HAD TO HAVE MY CAR JUMP STARTED AND EVER SINCE THEN HAVE HAD TO REMOVE THE TERMINALS FROM THE BATTERY WHEN I AM NOT USING THE VAN. ON FEB 14, SEVERAL OTHER ISSUE CAME ABOUT: 1. SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING 2. ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING 3. AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING SO ONCE I PULLED OVER, I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD CONTINOUSLY START AND STOP. (1) A SCREW FELL OUT WHEN I OPENED THE SUNGLASS HOLDER. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT CAME FROM AT THE TIME. (2) THE MAPLIGHT ASSEMBLY, WHICH INCLUDES THE SUNROOF CONTROLS, THE TWO POWER SLIDING DOOR CONTROLS, AND THE REAR HATCH CONTROL, FELL FROM THE ROOF WHILE CROSSING RAILROAD TRACKS. THE MAPLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS HANGING IN MIDAIR BY THE WIRES, SWINGING WILDLY, AND BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE ROAD AS I WAS CROSSING THE RAILROAD TRACKS. UPON EXAMINATION, THE PLASTIC AROUND ONE SCREW HAD CRACKED APART, SEPARTING THE SCREW FROM THE ASSEMBLY, AND THE SECOND SCREW HAD JUST FALLEN OUT. (3) I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO POHANKA AND THEY REPLACED ONE SCREW AND PUT A WASHER AND A DIFFERENT SCREW FOR THE OTHER CONNECTION. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE MAPLIGHT ASSEMBLY, JUST PUT TWO DIFFERENT SCREWS AND A WASHER TO REATTACH THE MAPLIGHTS.

I entered 14 freeway by sierra hwy entrance, as soon as I got in the fwy and left the pedal gas to slow down to get into traffic my van lost power and the shut off complete, i was very fortunate that it happened at the entrance and the cars behind me were able to stop on time and nobody got hurt, also today as soon I exit the cvs store get in into traffic, 1 minute after the van lost power and got stuck in traffic, this is very scary for me and my kids, my mechanics are not able to find the problem, please help

ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY CUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION AT 25-35 MILES PER HOUR. TWO REPAIRS WERE NECESSARY AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $500 TO GET THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR CRANK SHAFT SENSORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. AS FOR THE SEAT PROBLEM, ONE OF THE RELEASE LEVERS BROKE OFF COMPLETELY. I HAVE NOT YET HAD IT REPAIRED SO I DO NOT HAVE A COST FOR THIS REPAIR. I HAVE TO USE PLIERS TO RELEASE THE LEVER.

TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED A FEW MOMENTS LATER. VEHICLE RAN AGAIN BUT NO STEERING. POPPED THE HOOD AND LOOKED AND NO POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE WELL. ADDED FLUID AND STEERED OK TILL 4 BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE AT WHICH TIME THE STEERING ACTING UP AGAIN AND NOT ACCELERATING NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU PUSH THE PEDAL. TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN BEFORE STALLING THERE ARE NO SIGNIFICANT INDICATIONS BEFORE HAND TO INDICATE THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE EXCEPT THAT ON THE LAST FEW OCCASIONS WE HAVE NOTICED THAT A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE STALLING THE CHECK ENGINE AND SLIP LIGHTS GLOW. AFTER STALLING THE VEHICLE RESTARTS EITHER ON A FIRST ATTEMPT OR A SECOND ATTEMPT. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STALL EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN EITHER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000. THE CONSUMER STATED ON THREE OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE REVVED, AND LUNGED FORWARD AS HE WAS BRAKING, CAUSING HIM TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN HIM HITTING A HANDICAP PARKING SIGN. VEHICLE COMING OFF TURNPIKE ENTERING ONTO THE INTERSTATE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 45 MPH ONTO THE INTERSTATE ALMOST RAN OVER BY VEHICLES WHEN I WAS COMING OFF THE RAMP. VERY DANGEROUS. MANAGED TO GET VAN TO A SAFE PLACE WHERE WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR HOME. WE HAD OUR MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND HE DIAGNOSED IT AS THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS NEEDED REPLACING AND IT HAD JUMPED TIME. HE WOULD NOT TOUCH IT SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS YEAR VAN CONCERNING THE TENSIONERS. HAD IT THEN TOWED TO NISSAN AND THEY QUOTED 1700 TO FIX THE MECHANIC EVEN STATED THAT IT IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND HE IS SEEING AT LEAST 1 A WEEK WITH THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. WE BOUGHT OUR QUEST USED FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN DECEMBER 2008. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THE ELECTRIC DOORS DO NOT ALWAYS OPEN OR CLOSE WHEN WE WANT THEM TO... THEY SEEM TO HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN. THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS TURN THEMSELVES ON AND OFF. AFTER ONLY DRIVING IT FOR A FEW MONTHS, THE FRONT END STARTED POPPING WHEN WE WOULD TURN A CORNER. WE CHECKED THE LOWER BALL JOINTS, BEING AS THIS IS A TYPICAL CHARACTERISTIC. THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THEM. WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, THE VAN STARTED SHAKING REAL BAD WHEN WE WOULD BRAKE, AND THE FRONT TIRES STARTED LIFTING TREAD. WE TOOK THE VAN TO A MECHANIC TO CHECK THE ALIGNMENT AND SOURCE OF SHAKING. HE TOLD US THE ALIGNMENT WAS FINE... NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE NEEDED. HE SAID THE POPPING WAS THE BALL JOINTS. WE BOUGHT TWO NEW BALL JOINTS, AND UPON REMOVING THE CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY, WE REALIZED THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE REAR BUSHING OF THE FRONT CONTROL ARM, NOT THE BALL JOINT. THE RUBBER IS ROTTED OUT. YOU CAN NOT SEE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL YOU REMOVE THE WHOLE ARM. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO HIT A CURB REALLY HARD TO BREAK THESE, BUT HAVE NOT HIT ANY CURBS HARD EVER IN THIS VAN. 2004 NISSAN QUEST VAN - I WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN HAD NO POWER IT JUST SLOWED DOWN, THE STEERING FROZE AND IT STALLED IN MID-TRAFFIC. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH NOTICE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WORSE OF ALL, THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK I SLAMMED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND LOOKED FOR A CURB TO COAST INTO AND STOP. I TOOK THE VAN IN TO THE DEALER. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD ME THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY WITH A NEW ONE IT TOOK THEM OVER 6 HOURS - THE MECHANIC RETURNED AND SAID THE NEW THROTTLE BODY WOULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM, SO HE TOOK OUT THE NEW THROTTLE BODY AND PUT MY OLD ONE BACK IN. NOW I'M BEING TOLD IT IS POSSIBLY THE ECM NOT SENDING POWER TO THE FUEL INJECTOR. AS I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS CAUSED BY THE COMPUTER GETTING CORRODED FROM THE LOCATION DUE TO A POOR SEAL LEADING IT TO GIVE OUT ANYTIME. IT COSTS AROUND $1200. THE ECM IS PART OF THE EMISSIONS SYSTEMS AND AS SUCH SHOULD BE COVERED FOR 8YRS/130,000KM. MY VEHICLE HAS 93,000 MILES. A NUMBER OF FOLKS HAVE COMPLAINED TO NISSAN AS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND IMANY OF US TRANSPORT SMALL CHILDREN (IN MY CASE, MY GRANDCHILDREN). MY VAN HAD THE RED KEY WARNING LIGHT GO ON AND SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL BURNING. I HAD IT TOWED IMMEDIATELY TO A NISSAN DEALER KELLY NISSAN LYNNFIELD MA. THEY DID CHECK THE BULLETINS UNTIL AFTER TEST DRIVING IT TWICE AND BURNING OUT THE IGNITION COILS THEY JUST REPLACED AND BURNED OUT MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER (THEY PUT A NEW ONE ON WITHOUT REPORTING IT) THEY WERE ADVISED IN WRITING NOT TO DO ANY WORK EXCEPT REPLACE THE COILS THEY SAID THEY BURNED OUT AND ONLY THEN AT NO COST TO ME. THEY REPLACED MORE THAN WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN, CHARGED ME AND WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT AND RUINED THE CONVERTER IT SUCKED UP DEBRIS INTO THE ENGINE AND DESTROYED MY ENGINE. CALLED CORPORATE NISSAN WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP ( AFTER THEY GAVE A 300.00 COUPON BECAUSE OF THE DECEPTION PRIOR TO FINDING OUT ABOUT THE DAMAGED ENGINE). IT ALL STARTED FROM A LOOSE GROUND WIRE THAT CAUSED THE COILS TO OVERWORK AND BURNED OUT. I ENDED UP PAYING ABOUT $900 FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE THE MISDIAGNOSED AND DAMAGED PARTS, NOW THE ENGINE IS ESTIMATED AT 6800. TO REPLACE. I M DISABLED AND BARELY ABLE TO AFFORD THE ROOF OVER MY HEAD AND FOOD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR, NISS SAYS THE DEALERS ARE INDEPENDANTLY OWNED, YET THEY L HAVE THE SAME MAKER. I KEPT THE COILS THEY PUT IN HOWEVER THEY REMOVED A BOX WITH THE FIRST REPLACED ONES AND DID TO PUT THEM ALL BACK FOR ME AS INSTRUCTED. IN DECEMBER OF 2006 WE PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN QUEST SE. THE FIRST YEAR WAS NOT ENTIRELY TROUBLE FREE, THE DRIVERS SEAT WOULD SELF ADJUST WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER FIXED IT NO CHARGE. THE IN DECEMBER OF 07 THE TRANS WENT OUT, AGAIN THE DEALER COVERED IT AT NO CHARGE, GAVE US A LOANER AND WERE DONE WITHIN A WEEK. EXCEPT FOR THE INCONVENIENCE OF NOT HAVING OUR VAN WE WERE FINE UNTIL NOW!!! IN JUNE OF 08 WE WERE GOING FOR A SUNDAY DRIVE AND THE VAN JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I PARKED MY VAN IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOUSE. THE DRIVEWAY HAS A STEEP INCLINE. I PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE. I STEPPED OUT OF THE VAN, WAVED TO MY HUSBAND AND THE VAN BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARD. MY BABY WAS STILL IN THE VAN, SO I TRIED TO GET BACK IN TO MAKE SURE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CONTROLS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE UNSAFE BECAUSE THEY WERE HARD TO USE WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE CONTACT WOULD TRY TO USE THE DEFROSTER IT WAS DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION ON THE DASHBOARD AND CAUSED A DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING. SHE HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS UNTIL SHE CAME TO A STOP TO TURN ON THE DEFROSTER. ALSO, THE SPEEDOMETER WHICH WAS LOCATED ON THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE DRIVER STATED THAT THE ONLY THING THAT WAS LOCATED IN THE DASHBOARD WITH ALL THE CONTROLS IN THE CENTER WAS A STORAGE COMPARTMENT WHICH WAS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. NISSAN HAS SINCE FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEWER MODELS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE RECALL SOLUTION FOR THE MIDDLE SEAT LATCH WAS A BAD SOLUTION BECAUSE THEY ONLY USED FOUR PLASTIC PEGS AND A PIECE OF CLOTH. THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, AN OCCUPANT WHO WEIGHED 150 POUNDS SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, AND DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ERROR CODES. THE DEALER AND CONTACT ENCOUNTERED A NHTSA RECALL #04V103000, REGARDING THE AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. ALSO, THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, DID NOT DISPLAY THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. IT IS IN THE SHOP RIGHT NOW FOR ISSUES WITH HANDLING, THE LIFTGATE ARM COMING OUT OF THE DOOR, ABS, SLIP, TRACTION LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME, CRUISE CONTROL IS INOPERABLE, REAR WIPER ASSEMBLY HAS BROKEN FOR THE SECOND TIME, FRONT WASHER FLUID IS NOT WORKING. MOST NOTABLY ARE THE ISSUES WITH THE LIFTGATE AND HANDLING. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER SEVERAL MONTHS AGO FOR BOTH ISSUES. OUR LIFTGATE WOULD NEVER OPEN ON THE FIRST TRY. THEY CHECKED INTO IT AND KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. WE WERE GIVEN A RENTAL AND TOLD THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT AND IN THE END THEY CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD FOR IT. THEY HAD A TECH FROM NISSAN FLY OUT TO LOOK AT IT. THEY INFORMED US THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON PARTS. WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. THE OTHER DAY I WENT OUT TO OPEN THE DOOR. IT HAD PULLED THE MOLDING LOOSE AND I COULD SEE METAL SHAVINGS AT THE END OF THE STRUT. WE HAVE HAD IT IN WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE HANDLING BEFORE. WE SUSPECTED THAT THE ROTORS WERE TO BLAME. EVERY TIME WE BROUGHT THIS UP WE WERE TOLD THAT WASN'T THE CASE. WE WERE TOLD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES TO SOLVE THE ISSUE. WE THEN REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES. NOTHING HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES. THE AC BLOW HOT IF YOU SIT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. IF YOU REV THE ENGINE, IT JUST BLOWS HOTTER. YOU HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND FOR SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET THE AC TO BLOW COLD AGAIN. WE ARE LESS THAN HAPPY WITH NISSAN'S CUSTOMER SERVICE. AS A RESULT, THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS TURNED ON IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURE. MY NISSAN QUEST HAS BEEN PLAGUED WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS FROM DAY ONE. THE WINDOWS GO DOWN COMPLETELY ON THEIR OWN WITH VEHICLE TURNED OFF. THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENS RANDOMLY ON ITS OWN. THE TIRE ALARM GOES OFF WHEN TIRE PRESSURE IS FINE. AIR VENTS FLY OFF AND LIGHTS FALL OUT OF THE CEILING. MOST TROUBLING IS THE AUTOMATIC SIDE SLIDING DOOR. OWNER'S MANUAL STATED ON PAGE 3-8 THE DOOR WILL REVERSE DIRECTION IMMEDIATELY DURING POWER OPEN OR CLOSE, A WARNING CHIME WILL SOUND AND THE DOOR WILL REVERSE DIRECTION AND RETURN TO THE FULL OPEN OR FULL CLOSE POSITION. IT HAS KNOCKED SMALL CHILDREN TO THE GROUND. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO NISSAN , AND THEY INSISTED THAT THIS WAS THE WAY THE DOOR WERE SUPPOSED TO OPERATE. THE AUTOMATIC CLOSE BUTTON IS RIGHT AT THE LEVEL A SMALL CHILD WOULD PUT HIS HAND TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AND COULD BE EASILY ACTIVATED. NISSAN SAYS THE DOOR IS DESIGNED TO REVERSE WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE INCHES EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CONTRADICTORY TO ITS MANUAL. PLEASE HELP BEFORE A CHILD IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. *AK

DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS, SUCH AS UNIDENTIFIED NOISES THAT CAME FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT RED LIGHTS THE CAR WILL RESPOND BY ACCELERATING. WHEN DRIVING THROUGH TURNS OR AN INTERSECTION THE CAR RESPONDED IN THIRD GEAR INSTEAD OF FIRST. THE DOORS VIBRATED AS IF THEY WILL OPEN BY THEMSELVES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES, WHICH WAS MOST OFTEN DEEMED NORMAL BY THE NISSAN DEALER. ALSO,THE STEERING WHEEL MADE NOISES. THIS WAS DISCOVERED BY NISSAN AFTER COMPLAINING THREE TIMES, AND A MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVE WHO DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND A BROKEN PLASTIC PIECE WITHIN THE STEERING. THIS VEHICLE WAS UNDER LEMON LAW INVESTIGATION. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY EXPLANATIONS AS TO WHY THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE CORRECTIONS, AT LEAST TEN TIMES. DT: THE BRAKES HEAT UP AND THE ROTORS WARP. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD START SHAKING WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THAT POINT. THE SLIDING DOOR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AS WELL, IT MUST BE SLAMMED IN ORDER TO CLOSE IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS. THE TIRE PROBLEMS BEGAN ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. TIRE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON, INDICATING THAT THE TIRES ARE LOOSING AIR. OWNER ADVISES THAT ONE TIME THE TIRE LIGHT WOULD COME ON ABOUT EVERY BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THIS. THE TIRE HAD A NAIL IN IT. THERE IS ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT. OWNER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ABOUT THIS LAST YEAR AND IN JANUARY OF 2005. THE RECALL NUMBER IS NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THIS RECALL IS CLOSED. THE DEALERSHIP WON'T LOOK ANY FURTHER INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, YOU COULD SEE THE METAL IN THE SEAT. THE RADIO HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. IT IS NOW NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE CAR HAS A BAD SMELL, LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. THE SMELL IS COMING FROM ENGINE. DEALERSHIP REPORTS IT IS COMING FROM A COMPUTER CHIP AND IT STILL SMELLED AFTER REPLACEMENT. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS, BOTH BIG AND SMALL, WITH MY BRAND NEW NISSAN QUEST SE. I CAN ALMOST DEAL WITH THE SQEAKS, RATTLES, BROKEN BUTTONS, BROKEN LIGHTS, MALFUNCTIONING SENSORS, RADIO PROBLEMS, AND MALFUNCTIONING SLIDER DOORS, BUT THE PROBLEM I CANNOT ACCEPT IS THE FAILURE OF THE CAR TO RUN DURING DAMP OR COLD DAYS. THE CAR CRANKS AND STARTS AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, BUT WHEN IT IS PUT INTO DRIVE IT EITHER LAGS AS IF IT'S RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, OR DIES COMPLETELY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST 8 OCCASSIONS, 2 OF WHICH I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE I COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT THE WHEEL COVERS THAT PRESSED AGAINST THE VALVE STEMS. AFTER CHANGING THE POSITION OF THE WHEEL COVER, IT TURNED BACK TO PRESSING THE WHEEL COVER OVER THE VALVE STEM. ON MARCH 31 2004, MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2004 NISSAN QUEST SE. (VIN 5N1BV2U44N352872). THE REASON FOR THE PURCHASE WAS DUE TO THE SIZE AND AGES OF OUR FAMILY MEMBERS. WE HAVE 4 CHILDREN. THEY ARE AGED AS FOLLOWS: 14 YEARS, 11 YEARS, 20 MONTHS, 6 WEEKS. SINCE WE HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OVER AND OVER. WITH ABOUT 350 MILES ON IT, THE AIR CONDITIONER LOCKED UP AND THE COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED. AROUND MAY WE NOTICED THE AC WAS NOT COOLING THE VAN OFF AT ALL. KEEP IN MIND WE ARE IN TEXAS AND THIS IS ONE OF THE MILDER MONTHS. WE TOOK THE VAN IN SOMETIME IN EARLY JUNE TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. SHORTLY THERE AFTER THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE STATING IT WAS PERFORMING TO MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. I THEN WENT AND PURCHASED A AC VENT THERMOMETER. ON LOW THE TEMPERATURE BLOWING OUT OF THE VENTS IS COLD AROUND 50 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. HOWEVER WHEN YOU TURN IT TO MEDIUM OR HIGH SPEED THE TEMPERATURE THAT BLOWS OUT AT THE VENTS IS AROUND 70-75 DEGREES. THIS TEMPERATURE IS CONSISTENT EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MINUTES WITH AN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE OF AROUND 90. (WHICH AGAIN IS MILD FOR A TEXAS SUMMER). WITH THE AIR ON HIGH FOR 30-35 MINUTES THE TEMPERATURE IN THE CABIN AT THE MIDDLE ROW OF SEATS IS 87 DEGREES. THIS IS ALSO WITH THE REAR AIR ON HIGH AS WELL. MY CHILD'S PEDIATRICIAN ADVISED ME TO NOT LET MY INFANT RIDE IN THESE TEMPERATURES FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF DEHYDRATION. SO, BASICALLY I AM IN A $35,000 (MSRP) AUTOMOBILE THAT I CAN NOT LET MY CHILD RIDE IN ON ANY TRIPS FOR FEAR THAT HE MAY GET SICK. WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. WITHIN SECONDS OF PARKING THE VEHICLE A FIRE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED A DANGEROUSLY SLOW ACCELERATION AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE WRONG GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO POOR FUEL ECONOMY (11.6 TO 12.1 MPG INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL 19-26 MPG). ALSO, WITHIN THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP, THE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE OPENED INDEPENDENTLY ON TWO OCCASIONS AND FAILED TO OPEN OR CLOSE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE CONTROL BUTTONS, THE RADIO TEXT DISPLAY ON THE DASH READ MALFUNCTION MULTIPLE TIMES AND SOMETIMES IT OCCURED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS STARTED. *AK *SC THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. *JB

A NEWLY PURCHASED 2004 NISSAN QUEST WITH CURRENT MILEAGE OF AROUND 4,800 MILES WHEN INCIDENT HAPPENED. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE SUDDENLY BENT AND SMOKE CAME OUT. VAN WAS THEN TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND FOUND THAT THE CROSS MEMBER WAS BROKEN OFF. DEALERSHIP DENIED WARRANTY COVERAGE BECAUSE SERVICE MANAGER THOUGHT THAT SUCH DAMAGE MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A COLLISION, BECAUSE HE SAW A FEW LIGHT SCRATCHES AND A SMALLER THAN 2CM MARK ON THE RIM. I AM SURE THAT THE VAN WAS NOT HIT BY ANYTHING WHEN THE TIRE WAS BENT. THE SCRATCHES AND LITTLE MARK COULD BE CAUSED BY PULLING OVER TO SHOULDER WITH A BENT TIRE. I POINTED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE JOINT OF THE BROKEN CROSS MEMBER WAS FULL OF RUST, A SIGN OF INCOMPLETE SEALED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, OBVIOUSLY NOT A NEW DAMAGE CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT. EVEN TRIED CONTACTING MANUFACTURER MANY TIMES, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS MADE BECAUSE MANUFACTURER MAKES DECISION BASED ON DEALERSHIP STATEMENT. ALSO, SQUEAKING NOISE HAS BEEN COMING OUT FROM REAR SLIDING DOORS, DEALERSHIPS STATED THAT THEY REMOVED DOORS BUT NO FINDING AND PROBLEMS STILL EXIST. *JB
