Check engine light came on and says fuel level sensor circuit a low

FUEL GAUGE SENSOR WAS BROUGHT IN FOR RECALL BUT ISSUE STILL EXISTS. DEALER CLAIMS I NEED TO PAY TO DETERMINE IF IT IS STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER ALSO CONFIRMED THEY DO NOT VERIFY THE RECALL WORK DONE WAS SUCCESSFUL. ALL THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DO IS "PUT IN THE NEW PARTS". WHEN I FILL THE TANK WITHIN 5 MINS. IT GOES BACK TO EMPTY ON THE GAS GAUGE. THE RECALL DID NOTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

THE FUEL GUAGE IS MALFUNCTIONING. I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL SENSOR AND THE ISSUE IS STILL PRESENT. THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS IN MOTION ON A BUSY STREET, THEN ON A BUSY EXIT RAMP, ONCE ON INTERSTATE 695 IN BALTIMORE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEARLY HIT BY TRAFFIC BEHIND THE VEHICLE WHEN IT RAN OUT OF GAS DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL GAUGE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED PASSPORT NISSAN OF MARLOW HEIGHTS DEALER ((301) 423-8400, 5500 AUTH WAY, MARLOW HEIGHTS, MD 20746) AND WAS INFORMED, THE VIN WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL AND DID NOT OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,000.

MY VAN HAS 120K MILES ON IT. FOR THE PAST ONE YEAR, I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH A RATTLE SOUND IN THE ENGINE. IT COMES ON A COLD START AND WOULD GO AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES. MY MECHANIC TOOK A LOOK AND SAID THESE NISSAN ENGINES HAVE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TIMING CHAIN. LATELY THE RATTLE SOUND KEEPS COMING FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL CAUSE SOME OTHER PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE THAT WOULD STALL THE ENGINE WHILE RUNNING ON THE ROAD. NISSAN SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS TIMING CHAIN ISSUE, WHICH IT ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT.

TRANSMISSION JERKS/SLIPS BETWEEN GEARS ON DAILY BASIS. THIS JUST APPEARED IN THE SPRING AND HAS BEEN AN ONGOING/INCREASING PROBLEM SINCE THEN. HAVE TAKEN CAR TO MECHANIC AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND ASKED FOR RESOLUTION. MECHANICS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE OR FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS ESPECIALLY PREVALENT IF TAKE FOOT OFF GAS, COAST, THEN PUT FOOT ON GAS AGAIN. SOMETIMES THE JERK IS SEVERE ENOUGH TO AFFECT THE PEOPLE SITTING IN THE CAR. IT SEEMS LIKE EVENTUALLY THE CAR WILL JUST NOT ENGAGE AND I'LL HAVE TO LEAVE IT ON SIDE OF ROAD.

THERE IS NO ACCIDENT YET AND WISH NOT TO HAPPEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THE CAR'S FUEL LEVEL GAUGE IS MALFUNCTION SINCE THIS MONTH, DECEMBER 2014 AND I GOT A CODE FOR P0462. I FOUND THAT IT IS VERY COMMON TROUBLESOME IN NISSAN VEHICLES AND MANY OF THEIR MODELS ARE IN RECALL BUT NOT 2007 NISSAN QUEST YET. I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS TWICE IN THE LAST 8 MONTHS. FUEL GAUGE READS 3/8 TANK LEFT AND THE COMPUTER SAID I HAD 72 MILES LEFT UNTIL EMPTY. NO LOW FUEL LIGHT INDICATOR. TOOK IT INTO A NISSAN DEALER FOR THEM TO READ THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT, THEY SAID NEEDED A NEW FUEL SENSOR WHICH IN TURN YOU NEEDED A NEW FUEL PUMP WHICH RUNS INTO LOTS OF MONEY. BOUGHT THE FUEL PUMP AND WAS GOING TO HAVE IT CHANGED. THE READING FROM THE NEW FUEL PUMP WAS THE SAME READING AS THE OLD FUEL PUMP " NO CHANGE." WHILE TRAVELING ON A I - 94 WEST FREEWAY THE VAN LOST POWER AND STOPPED. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED THE TANK WAS QUARTER FULL, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO GAS IN THE TANK. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A BUSY FREEWAY, AND THERE WERE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE SAME VEHICLE. I HAD TO CALL AAA TO BRING SOME GAS. BASED ON WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE - THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED OCCURRENCE. NISSAN HAS RECALLED CARS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS BUT NOT THE QUEST MODEL. THE ECM (COMPUTER) IS PLACEMENT IS UNDER WINDSHIELD. WHICH OVER TIME ALLOWS WATER TO RUN DOWN INTO THE ECM CAUSING EROSION AND HOLES IN THE HOUSING AND COMPUTER. THEN WATER GETS INTO THE COMPUTER CAUSING IT FAIL COMMUNICATING OR NOT PROPERLY COMMUNICATING WITH THE CAR. THIS PROBLEM THAT NISSAN DOES NOT WANT TO OWN. MY COMPUTER IS DAMAGED DUE TO ITS PLACEMENT AND WATER HITTING OVER TIME. THIS HAS CAUSED THE CAR TO SHAKE AND SEND ERRORS THAT CAUSE THE CYLINDER TO MISS FIRE. I WAS DRIVING AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FLASHED.

I RECEIVED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON MY QUEST AND THE FUEL GAUGE HAND WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I WOULD FILL IT UP AND THE GAS HAND WOULD GO TO FULL AND THEN AS I WOULD DRIVE IT WOULD DROP DOWN TO EMPTY FOR A WHILE AND BACK TO FULL FOR WHILE AS I WOULD DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. I HAD A FUEL PUMP PUT ON BY AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP BUT I TOLD THEM I REPLACED THAT AND THEY THEN STATED IT WAS THE SENDING UNIT, I TOLD THEM MY LOCAL MECHANIC CHECKED THE SENDING UNIT AND HE SAID THAT THE CONNECTIVITY WAS GOOD ON THE SENDING UNIT. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEN RAN MORE DIAGNOSTIC AND SAID IT WAS DASH THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND NOT THE FUEL PUMP. I HAD THE DASH REPLACED AND THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOW STUCK ON FULL. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER FORUMS WITH PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS I. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS A RECALL AS IT SEEMS TO BE AFFECTING A LOT OF PEOPLE.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ELECTRICAL IN MY VAN. THE AIR CONDITIONING HAS BEEN ON WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN WHEN I START THE CAR THE NEXT TIME IT WON'T BE ON. BUT IF I TURN IT OFF IT STARTS BLOWING. ALSO, THE RADIO WILL QUIT WHENEVER IT DECIDES TO. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD LISTENING TO THE RADIO AND IT WILL MAKE A LOUD POP AND THEN A HIGH PITCHED SOUND UNTIL I TURN THE RADIO OFF. IT WON'T WORK AGAIN UNTIL THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF A WHILE THEN RESTARTED. I WILL LOOSE ALL THE SETTINGS ON MY RADIO. I AM WORRIED THAT IF THERE IT TROUBLE WITH THAT STUFF WHAT ELSE MIGHT STOP. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE 2008/9(NOT SURE). THE AIR WAS THE PROBLEM THE FIRST. ABOUT THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF THE RADIO HAS BEEN STOPPING MORE AND MORE. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION MY WIFE AND YOUNG SON BECAME STRANDED BY THE VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF GAS WHILE THE GAS GAUGE READ UP TO 3/8 OF A TANK AND ONBOARD COMPUTER TOLD US 60+ MILES REMAINING BEFORE EMPTY. I SEE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS AND MY EXPERIENCES MIRROR THOSE THAT ARE ALREADY REPORTED. I WAS DRIVING FROM PEKIN TO WORK IN PEORIA AND NOTICED THAT I HAD A LITTLE LESS THAN 1/4 TANK OF FUEL SO I FIGURED I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET GAS ON THE WAY HOME. WHEN I CHECKED THE TRIP GAGE IT SAID THAT I HAD 8 MILES TO GO BEFORE I RAN OUT OF GAS. THAT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE THAN WHAT MY GAS GAUGE SAID. I STOPPED AND GOT GAS IMMEDIATELY AND WHILE DOING SO I NOTICED THAT IT TOOK 17 GALLONS OF GAS. IF IT HAD ACTUALLY HAD A 1/4 TANK IN IT THERE IS NO WAY THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PUT 17 GALLONS OF GAS IN AN 18 GALLON TANK. I HAVE CALLED MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECOLLECTION OF THIS BEING AN ISSUE. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED BUT I CANNOT REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. SINCE THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING I HAVE BEEN KEEPING TRACK OF MY MILEAGE AND FILLING UP ACCORDING TO MY MILEAGE RECORDS. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE DRIFTED TO A STOP. ALL ATTEMPTS T RESTART THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE GAS GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD APPROXIMATELY 1/3 OF A TANK OF GAS REMAINING. I SPENT JUST A FEW MINUTE SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL (2007 NISSAN QUEST). THE SEARCH UNCOVERED LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT FAULTY GAS GAUGES INDICATING IMPROPER FUEL LEVELS. SO I POURED A FEW GALLONS OF GAS INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING 2 MORE TIMES UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. EACH TIME MORE FUEL IS ADDED AND THE VEHICLE STARTS WITH NO TROUBLE.

I BOUGHT A 2007 NISSAN QUEST WITH 138000 MILES AND A FULL TANK OF GAS ACCORDING TO THE ACCORDING TO THE NEEDLE. WITH JUST 130 DRIVEN IN 5 DAYS I LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES ON A BUSY ROAD. AFTER LEAVING MY CAR AT A MECHANIC SHOP FOR THE WEEKEND I CAME ACROSS MY PAPERWORK WHICH INCLUDED A CAMPAIGN NOTICE REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO REPLACE ONCE THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE AT MY COST TO ME FOR REPAIR. AFTER FINDING OUT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO GAS IN THE VAN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATE THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE WRITTEN NOTICE THAT THEY WILL REPAIR AT NO COST FOR LABOR AND PARTS THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR NOTICE. I MUST NOW PAY OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. *TR

WHILE GETTING ONTO A FREEWAY (DARK/RAINING/PM), THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THIS CAUSED A COMPLETE POWER FAILURE TO THE POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. THIS CREATED A IMMEDIATE HAZARD. ALSO, THIS LEFT MY WIFE AND TWO KIDS STRANDED. THE VEHICLE SHOWED ABOUT A 1/4 TANK OF GAS ON THE DASH AND THE DIGITAL READOUT IN THE CENTER CONSOLE SAID 68 MILES TO EMPTY. I TOWED THE VEHICLE HOME. PRIOR TO DOING DIAGNOSTIC WORK I PUT A GALLON OF GAS IN. THE VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP. I FILLED UP THE TANK THINKING MAYBE THE FLOAT/SENSOR MAY HAVE STUCK. AGAIN THE VAN WITHOUT WARNING SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. THIS TIME IT WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 TANK AND CENTER CONSOLE COMPUTER READ 66 MILES TO EMPTY. I PLACED 5 GALLONS IN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE FUEL LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON AND THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN. LOSING POWER BRAKES/STEERING UNEXPECTEDLY CREATES A SERIOUS HAZARD IN ITSELF. I KNOW KEEP THE TANK ABOVE 1/2 BECAUSE BELOW THAT I'M ROLLING THE DICE. LOW FUEL OR RESERVE LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED. MY SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND I CONNECTED MY CAR MD READER TO THE VEHICLE DATA CONNECTION AND RAN THE DIAGNOSTIC ON IT CAME BACK WITH THE FOLLOWING REPORT. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP, STORED CODES ARE CONDITIONS THAT YOUR VEHICLE REPORTED AFTER YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS SET. CARMD USES THESE CODES TO ACCURATELY IDENTIFY A MOST LIKELY REPAIR OR "CURE". WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED JERKING AND MORE OFTEN THAN NOT SLAMS INTO GEAR. MAKES AN AWFUL BANGING NOISE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. LOSING TRANS FLIUD, SEEMS LIKE WE ARE GOING THROUGH JUGS OF FLUID. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THAT AS A DESIGN DEFECT, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESIGNED TO HOLD A SPARE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 32,000.

I PURCHASED NEW A 2007 NISSAN QUEST SE WITH THE MICHELIN PAX RUN-FLAT SYSTEM IN DECEMBER 2007. THIS CAR'S STICKER PRICE WAS OVER $41,000. IT NOW NEEDS NEW TIRES AT 32,000 MILES.WITH THIS SYSTEM, THERE IS ONLY ONE TIRE THAT CAN BE USED, AND VERY FEW DEALERS CARRY IT. ONLY ONE SHOP IN MY CITY CAN WORK ON THIS RIM/TIRE COMBO--THE HONDA STORE THEY REFUSE TO HELP BECAUSE THEY WORK ONLY ON HONDAS. I WAS ADVISED BY MICHELIN I NEED TO TRAVEL TO ALLIANCE, OH TO HAVE NEW TIRES INSTALLED ON MY VAN, A TRIP OF 70 MILES OR ONE HOUR. I WAS TOLD BY THIS SHOP THAT THE TIRES NEED TO BE ORDERED, THEY TAKE 5 WEEKS TO GET IN, AND THEY WOULD COST $1,550 FOR A SET OF FOUR INSTALLED. WHILE I FEEL THE PRICE IS TERRIBLE, MY REAL CONCERN IS THE 5 WEEK DELIVERY DELAY. WHAT DO I DO IF I AM 700 MILES FROM HOME AND SUFFER A BLOWOUT WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR? I OWN A NISSAN QUEST WITH THE MICHELIN PAX RUN-FLAT TIRE SYSTEM. THE PAX RUN-FLAT TIRE SYSTEM IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2007. BY 13 MONTHS, AT 18,000 MILES, 2 OF THE TIRES HAD WORN TO THE POINT WHERE THE DEALER SAID THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AT 20,600 MILES WE HAD ALL 4 TIRES REPLACED. IN 32NDS OF AN INCH, SEARS MEASURED THE TREAD AT : LEFT FRONT - 1,0,0, RIGHT FRONT - 2,2,1, RIGHT REAR - 3,3,4, LEFT REAR WAS SIMILAR TO RIGHT REAR BUT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED DUE TO A NAIL IN IT. MICHELIN HAD TO COURIER A COMPLETE TIRE AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY TO MY HOME ON THE NAILED TIRE BECAUSE THERE IS NO TIRE DEALER WITHIN 20 MILES OF US IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO THAT CAN WORK ON THE PAX TIRES OTHER THAN PERHAPS A HONDA DEALER WHO TOLD US THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON A NISSAN. OUR NISSAN DEALER IS NOT EQUIPPED TO WORK ON THIS TIRE. OUR SITUATION IS NOT UNIQUE. A WEB SEARCH TURNS UP MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT PREMATURE WEAR AND BLOWOUTS WITH THE PAX TIRE SYSTEM. THERE ARE 2 CLASS-ACTION LAWSUITS RELATED TO THE PAX SYSTEM, ONE AGAINST HONDA AND MICHELIN AND ONE AGAINST NISSAN AND MICHELIN. WITH THE WHEELS ON OUR NEW CAR WE CAN ONLY HAVE PAX TIRES SO EITHER WE NEED TO SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE WHEELS, POTENTIALLY VOIDING OUR WARRANTY, OR CONTINUE TO REPLACE OUR TIRES EVERY 20,000 MILES, ASSUMING WE CAN GET THEM. IT TOOK A WEEK TO HAVE REPLACEMENT TIRES SHIPPED TO CHICAGO. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THAT THE PROBLEM WILL GET WORSE THE LONGER WE OWN THE CAR. REPLACED ALL THE MOUNTS AND THE CAR STILL JERKS HARD WHEN DRIVING AND LOSES POWER SOMETIMES AND WILL REV VERY HIGH WHEN DRIVING FOR NO REASON AT ALL. TOOK CAR BACK TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION MOUNTS AFTER ALREADY REPLACING MOUNTS FOR OVER 900 DOLLARS.

I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A 6% DOWNGRADE ON A FREEWAY IN MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST. AT THE TIME (JAN 2008), THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 15,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS CONTINUOUSLY BRAKING TO KEEP THE VEHICLE AT A SAFE SPEED. AS I WAS BRAKING, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE. THE PULSATIONS GOT LOUDER AND MORE AGGRESSIVE AS WE CONTINUED DOWN THE DOWNGRADE, TO THE POINT LIKE IF FELT THE BRAKES WERE ABOUT TO FAIL. SOON AFTER, IN JANUARY 2008, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN BELLEVUE, WA. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER BRAKE ROTOR WAS WARPED. THEY RESURFACED THE ROTOR. AT 9 MONTHS LATER, AND AT 25,000 MILES (OCT 2008), THE PULSATIONS STARTED TO REOCCUR. I BROUGHT THE VAN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, AND THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE SAME ROTOR THEY RESURFACED 9 MONTHS EARLIER. AGAIN AT 35,000 MILES IN JULY 2009, THE PULSATION PROBLEM RETURNED AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT TO UNITED NISSAN IN LAS VEGAS, BUT THEY REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM, CITING NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE BRAKES. FINALLY, IN OCTOBER 2009, I BROUGHT THE BRAKES TO A BRAKE SPECIALIST. I BOUGHT MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST IN APRIL 2008 WITH ONLY 26 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED WITHIN A COUPLE MONTHS THAT WHEN GOING OVER 30 MILES AN HOUR THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE RIGHT AWAY AND I HAD TO PUMP THEM ONCE OR TWICE TO GET THEM TO WORK MUCH LIKE MY 20 YEAR OLD CAR WHEN I WAS A TEEN. IN SEPT 08 I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN DRIVING 35 MILES AN HOUR WITH A GOOD 5-6 CAR LENGTHS AWAY WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SUDDENLY STOPPED AND I COULD NOT STOP. THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND WHEN I PUSHED HARD ON THE BRAKE IT WENT MUSH ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I ENDED UP HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME HITTING MY HEAD AND GETTING A CONCUSSION. I WAS OUT OF WORK FOR 2 WEEKS, HAD OVER $6,000 DAMAGE TO MY VAN AND OVER $4,000 DAMAGE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHO THEN HIT THE VAN IN FRONT OF IT AND CAUSED $3,000 DAMAGE TO IT. IN TOTAL 4 PEOPLE WERE INJURED I WAS INJURED THE WORST AND SPENT THE NIGHT IN THE HOSPITAL. WHEN THE BODY SHOP SENT MY VAN OVER TO THE NISSAN DEALER TO CHECK THE BRAKES THEY SAID THEY RESET THE ABS AND THEY SEEMED FINE. I TALKED TO THEM AND ASKED WHERE THEY TESTED THE BRAKES THEIR ANSWER WAS IN THEIR PARKING LOT AND AROUND THE BLOCK. I ASKED THEM TO DRIVE WITH ME OVER 35 MILES, THEY REFUSED AND SAID THE BRAKES WERE FINE. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE 10+ CAR LENGTHS BEHIND EVERYONE TO MAKE SURE I HAVE TIME TO PUMP THE SOFT BRAKES. TIMING CHAINS WERE USED IN PLACE OF BELTS BECAUSE OF THE SUPPOSED MAINTENANCE FREE QUALITY THEY PROVIDED. UNLIKE BELTS, TIMING CHAINS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN QUEST. I HAVE NOTICED A HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND ASKED THE SERVICE TECH TO SEE IF HE COULD ALSO HEAR THE NOISE. HE SAID THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM MY TIMING CHAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN. I WAS QUOTED $3300 TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I ALSO TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER AUTO SHOP AND TWO LI MASTER TECHNICIANS WERE IN COMPLETE DISBELIEF THAT THIS WAS INDEED THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THEN WHY IS IT THAT I WILL NOW HAVE TO PUT $3300 INTO A VEHICLE THAT I STILL OWE $15,000 ON AND IF I TRADE IT IN I WILL HAVE ABOUT $5,000 IN NEGATIVE EQUITY? ON THIS DATE OUR 2007 NISSAN QUEST VAN, WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT SURGED TO OVER 3500 RPMS (THIS IS AN ESTIMATE BECAUSE I DID LOOK AT THE RPMS UNTIL AFTER THE PEAK OF REVVING). I STOOD ON THE BRAKES AND KEPT THE VAN FROM MOVING INTO THE INTERSECTION, THEN SHOVED IT INTO NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE CAME BACK TO NORMAL RPM RANGE. ON 2/9/07 I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND THE VAN ONCE AGAIN SURGED, THIS TIME I NOTED IT WENT OVER 5000 RPMS. I JAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND KEPT IT FROM MOVING INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I SHOVED IT INTO NEUTRAL AGAIN AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT, THE RPMS RETURNED TO NORMAL RANGE. I MADE THE DEALERSHIP AWARE OF BOTH INCIDENTS AND HAD IT INTO SERVICE BOTH TIMES. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND MADE NO REPAIRS. WE THEN CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LODGED A COMPLAINT. A FACTORY TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE VAN ON 3/19/07. HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG, MADE NO REPAIRS AND DECLARED THAT THE VAN WAS FINE. WE WILL NOT DRIVE THE VAN AND MY WIFE WHO IS DISABLED, IS LEFT WITHOUT THE USE OF HER MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIR. I HAVE A 2007 NISSAN QUEST I BOUGHT NEW. IT HAS REAR SONAR AS ONE OF THE OPTIONS AND DUE TO THE SIZE, SHAPE AND BLIND SPOTS IT IS NEEDED. I NOTICED WITH 35000 MILES THAT THE REAR SONAR WAS INOP- SINCE I BOUGHT IT FOR MY WIFE, I WAS UNAWARE IT WAS INOP FOR A WHILE. IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I HAVE OWNED IT FOR 37 MOS. AFTER SOME RESEARCH IT APPEARS IT IS NOT ONLY COMMON IN ALL YEARS OF THE QUEST BUT THE TITAN AS WELL. THE PROBLEM IS A DEFECTIVE AURAL BUZZER. GOING ACROSS THE BETSY ROSS BRIDGE, FROM PHILADELPHIA TO CHERRY HILL, ABOUT 9PM TO GET GAS AS WELL AS DINNER. THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THEN SHOT OFF WHEN WE WERE NOT QUITE HALF WAY OVER THE BRIDGE. WHICH MEANS WE RAN OUT OF GAS EVEN THOUGH THE GAS GAUGE SAID OTHERWISE. AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS READING FULL. I FOUND NHTSA RECALL BULLETIN #10V07400. THE PROBLEM IS AN EXACT MATCH FOR MY PROBLEM. SPECIFICALLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SENDER MIS-REPORTING THE GAS LEVEL. 1. Fuel Gauge- the fuel Hague is incorrect. I suspect somewhere between 1/2 tank and 3/8 tank will actually be an empty tank. I was almost left stranded when I could make it to the next service station. The car performed slow and the car came to a slow stop. No fuel indicator light came on. 2. My steering wheel has been very difficult to turn. Suddenly the power steering tank requires daily service. There is a rattling noise that gets a little better when I pour power steering fluid. I am unable to make safe turns due to the steering wheel no moving at it’s normal rate. Turning at intersections is the worst as I sometimes have to try several attempts. I end up having to take wide turns and that is not always safe in our narrow streets. There is no indicator light related to this concern.

I RAN OUT OF GAS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. BOTH TIMES I THOUGHT I HAD PLENTY OF GAS DUE TO WHAT THE GAUGE SAID. THE FIRST TIME, I HAD MY 2 KIDS WITH ME AND IT RAN OUT AS I WAS GOING AROUND AN UNFAMILIAR CURVE IN THE INTERSTATE. THE VAN BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER. LUCKY FOR ME I WAS IN A LANE NEXT TO A SHOULDER SO I WAS ABLE TO FIGHT IT OFF OF THE ROAD. IT WAS VERY HARD TO STOP AT THAT POINT. THE PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE DEVELOPS A TERRIBLE LEAK. EVENTUALLY REQUIRED A 1/2 BOTTLE OF PS FLUID NEARLY EVERY DAY! THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE HOSE IS "BURIED" BEHIND THE ENGINE AND EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO REPLACE. A REPLACEMENT HOSE IS LESS THAN $100 BUT IT TAKES MULTIPLE HOURS OF PAIN AND FRUSTRATION TO REPLACE. THIS TYPE OF POOR WORKMANSHIP IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE FACT THAT IT'S SO DIFFICULT TO FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM IS UNCONSCIONABLE. NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CONSUMERS. THE LEAKED CAUSED STEERING ISSUES ON NUMEROUSE OCCASIONS. IT NEVER FAILED COMPLETELY DUE TO THE FACT THAT I CARRIED A GALLON JUG OF PS FLUID WITH ME EVERYWHERE I WENT. NOW, NOT ONLY DID IT TAKE ME FOREVER TO REPAIR THIS ITEM, MY DRIVEWAY IS AN EYESORE. THE FIRST INCIDENT, OCCURRING IN THE SUMMER OF 2014, CAUSED MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST TO STALL/SHUT OFF AND NOTHING WORKED - IT LOST ALL STEERING, POWER, ACCELERATION, BRAKING, ETC. IT JUST DIED, GOING APPROXIMATELY 15MPH WHILE VEERING RIGHT TO TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER. THIS SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED ABOUT A MONTH LATER, WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25MPH (POSTED SPEED LIMIT) GOING UPHILL AT NIGHT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I LOSS ACCELERATION AND HAD REALIZED MY CAR HAD SHUT OFF. I WAS TOWING A TRAILER BEHIND ME AND HAD TO TRY TO MAKE IT TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. I BOUGHT MY NISSAN QUEST 2007 SE IN MAY OF 2012.. FROM A DEALER... AFTER 2 MONTHS OF OWNING MY VEHICLE I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION WOULD ALWAYS RATTLE... HI WE WERE ON WAY FROM NIAGARA TO HARRISBURG IN OUR NISSAN QUEST 2007. THERE WAS NO MAINTENANCE ISSUE IN MY VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON TWO OCCASIONS NOW. DRIVING ALONG IN PEAK TRAFFIC AND SUDDENLY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. NO POWER STEERING AND ALMOST INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS BOTH OCCASIONS THE FIRST TIME I WAS ALONE THE SECOND TIME I HAD MY GRAND BABIES WITH ME AND THAT WAS TERRIFYING FOR THEM AS THE OTHER ROAD USERS WHERE WHIZZING PAST AND THEY WERE STOPPED. TOOK MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST IN TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR A RATTLE, VIBRATION AND PULSING OUT OF THE FRONT END. SERVICE WRITER TELLS ME IT'S A TIMING CHAIN (NOT BELT) THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH AND PRESSED THE GAS. IT WAS EARLY SUNDAY MORNING, VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AND DID NOT HEAR THE ENGINE RESPOND. I LOOKED AT MY GAUGES AND THE TACHOMETER WAS AT 0. I REALIZED THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. I TRIED REVVING THE GAS PEDAL BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I MANAGED TO GUIDE MY CAR OFF THE ROAD INTO AN ENTRANCE ROAD TO A BUSINESS. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO START IT. THE ENGINE TURNED OVER BUT WOULD NOT CATCH. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED A QUARTER OF A TANK AND NO LIGHT WAS ON. I CALLED MY WIFE AND SHE BROUGHT A GAS CAN. I POURED IT THE GAS. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED. I WENT TO A GAS STATION. THE CAR TOOK 19 GALLONS. THE CAPACITY WAS 20 GALLONS SO THE CAR WAS EMPTY. I HAVE BEEN MONITORING SINCE. ON A TYPICAL WEEK MY CAR IS SLIGHTLY UNDER HALF A TANK. THIS WEEK MY CAR WAS A LITTLE BIT UNDER THREE QUARTER 3/4 FULL. THE TRIP ODOMETER SHOWED I HAD GONE 174 MILES. I FILLED UP THE CAR AND IT TOOK 11.3 GALLONS. THIS INDICATE THE TANK IS ALMOST EXACTLY 1/4 OFF. I WAS VERY LUCKY WHEN THE CAR STALLED I COULD PULL OFF SAFELY. I HAVE SEEN MANY POST ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS ISSUE ON THIS YEAR CAR. WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN TO GET THIS ADDRESSES? THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE FRONTIER AND PATHFINDER AND XTERRA ARE HAVING FOR THE SAME YEAR. THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME 3.5 LITER ENGINE. DURING REGULAR OIL CHANGE DEALER ADVISED LOWER "A" ARM OF SUSPENSION AND LEFT SIDE ENGINE MOUNT WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED CHANGE. I RESPONDED I HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY GO AHEAD. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY, I NEEDED TO PAY CASH FIRST. I INSISTED THE DEALER SEND SOMEONE TO THE CAR A COPY OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS IN THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALER FINALLY ACCEPTED THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE ANOMALY IS THAT THE OIL DRAIN AND FILTER ARE IN IMMEDIATE PROXIMITY TO THE SUSPENSION AND ENGINE MOUNT AND THE DEFECTS WERE NOT DETECTED DURING PREVIOUS OIL CHANGES. IT WAS ONLY AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED THE DEFECTS WERE FOUND. THE DEALER EXPECTED NO WARRANTY EXISTED AND THEREFORE CASH WOULD NEED TO BE PAID. CASH PAYMENT FOR NON-WARRANTY IS KEPT SOLELY BY THE DEALER. MY CONCERN IS THE DEFECTS WERE FOUND WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY AND WE WERE SENT BACK OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY IN A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE WAITING FOR THE FACTORY WARRANTY TO EXPIRE. THE RATTLING NOISE BEGAN AT 45,000 MILES. WHEN I ACCELERATE, A RATTLING CHAIN SOUND IS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I CURRENTLY HAVE 50,000 MILES ON MY 2007 NISSAN QUEST. AT 60000 MILES HAD TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER WHEEL BEARING AND ABS SENSOR IN THE VEHICLE. AT 90000 MILES A KNOCKING SOUND BEGAN TO COME FROM THE ENGINE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED OR IN PARK. MECHANIC ADVISED THIS WAS DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN, WHICH IS A PROBLEM DUE TO THE PLASTIC PARTS THAT NISSAN USES TO HOLD THE TENSION ON THE CHAIN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AS NUMEROUS COMPLAINANTS HAVE BEEN FILED. CONCERNED THAT NISSAN KNEW IT HAD A BAD COMPONENT AND HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT EXIST. ALSO, NOW THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AROUND 30000. FIXED THE BRAKES WITH OE PARTS, AND THEN BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS. TECHNICIAN ADVISED THESE PROBLEMS CAME FROM THE ROTORS GETTING HOT. HAD THE ROTORS TURNED WHICH DID NOT WORK. THEIR CONCLUSION WAS THAT IT STARTED IN THE WIRING TO THE TOW HITCH, WHICH WAS ON THEIR WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND AN ACCESSORY THEY OFFER ON THEIR WEBSITE. THEY THEN CLAIMED THAT THE TOW HITCH WAS NOT PUT ON IN THE FACTORY AND THEREFORE IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND WOULD NOT ASSIST ME ANY FURTHER. THEY DID TELL ME THAT THEY HAD ALREADY SPOKEN WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THAT THEY WERE ALSO CLAIMING THEY DID NOT INSTALL THE HITCH. I EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS ON THERE WHEN I GOT IT SO SOMEONE HAD TO INSTALL IT. THEY AGAIN SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND NO ONE WILL TAKE MY CALLS NOR RETURN MY MESSAGES. SO I AM STUCK WITH A BURNED UP VAN, RENTAL BILLS, GARAGE REPAIR BILLS AND EVERYONE POINTING THEIR FINGER AT THE OTHER SAYING IT IS NOT MY FAULT. I HAVE INSURANCE ON THE VAN OF COURSE AND COULD JUST SIMPLY HAVE IT FIXED AND PUT IT BACK ON THE ROAD BUT THAT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM OF WHATEVER DID IN FACT START THE FIRE (THEIR CONCLUSION WAS CERTAINLY CONVENIENT FOR THEM IN THAT IT WAS THE ONE THING NOT INSTALLED IN THE FACTORY) AND SO I WOULD JUST BE PUTTING A POTENTIALLY UNSAFE VEHICLE BACK ON THE ROAD. *TR
