THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS AN INCORRECT READING. THE INDICATOR SHOWS THAT IT IS EMPTY EVEN WHEN I REFUEL IT WITH FULL TANK. THE CAR STOPS ON THE ROAD AS THE FUEL SHOWS AN INCORRECT READING WHICH POSES A DANGEROUS THREAT. I HAVE GOT THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED THREE TIMES. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME AND MONEY AND NOT GETTING THE ISSUE FIXED. THE CAR ALSO FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2007-2008-2009 NISSAN QUESTS' BUT MY 2008 NISSAN QUEST IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL!

TAKATA RECALL MY VAN HAS LEFT US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD MULTIPLE TIMES AT LEAST 4. WHEN EVER IT GETS TO A QUARTER TANK OF GAS WE GET WORRIED. IT SAYS WE STILL HAVE FUEL BUT IN FACT IS EMPTY. I SAW ONLINE THAT OUR VAN YEAR HAS A RECALL BUT THIS WEBSITE SHOWS THERE IS NOTHING FOR OUR VAN. IT WORRIES US BECAUSE WE HAVE OUR KIDS IN THE VEHICLE NORMALLY AND THE LAST THING WE NEED IS FOR SOMEONE TO HIT US BECAUSE WE RAN OUT OF GAS. WE HAVE BEEN AT STOP LIGHTS AND IT JUST DIES. WE HAVE BEEN IN MOTION AND IT JUST DIES. MY WIFE WORKED NIGHT SHIFT AND 3 AM SHE WAS TRYING TO COME HOME AND IT WAS NO FUEL IN IT. I PUT THE LAST DATE IT HAPPENED BELOW.

NISSAN RECALLED CERTAIN VIN FOR FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION. MY FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, AND MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME. I LIVE IN TEMPERATURES IN AZ THAT CAN EXCEED 125 DEGREES, SO IF I RUN OUT OF GAS, THIS COULD BE A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION.

CAR RAN OUT OF GAS WITH GAUGE READING 77 MILES TO EMPTY. I HAVE A MAILING FORM NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC-- WITH MY NAME, ADDRESS, MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR, VIN NUMBER -- STATING THAT THERE IS THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND THAT THEY WILL FIX THE ISSUE AT NO CHARGE. YET-- WHEN I TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS 1800 NISSAN1-- BOTH EXPLAIN THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE VAN AT ALL AND THAT I MUST PAY $130 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT AND THEN FOR THE REPAIR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THE MAILING THEY SENT ME. I CANNOT ADD THE LETTER TO THIS COMPLAINT-- BUT HAVE IT SHOULD YOU WISH FOR ME TO EMAIL IT TO YOU OR SEND A PHOTO. I AM TAKING A LONG DISTANCE TRIP IN THIS VAN WITH MY 3 CHILDREN AND AM VERY UPSET. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF THIS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR TRACK PANEL BLEW COMPLETELY OFF AND ALSO SHATTERED THE COVERING OF THE REAR PASSENGER LIGHT CLUSTER. I WAS ABLE TO RETURN TO THE SHOULDER AND RECOVER THE PANEL. I AM AMAZED THAT IT DID NOT HIT THE WINDSHIELD OF A VEHICLE BEHIND ME.

WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN HIGHWAY, THE RIGHT SIDE RAIL COVER FELL OFF DURING THE IMPACT FROM DRIVING OVER A POT HOLE. IT WAS DETERMINED BY MY OWN REPAIR FACILITY THAT IT WAS MISSING THE ONLY SCREW WHICH HOLDS THE RAIL COVER, ALONG WITH 5-6 PRONGS. THIS SCREW BELONGS ON A METAL PIECE LOCATED BEHIND THE TAIL LIGHT. THE LOST RAIL COVER WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SCREW. IF SCREW WAS THERE, PART WOULD OF HUNG ON. IF RAIL COVER HAD THE SCREW, ON HIGH SPEED, IT WOULD OF BENT THE METAL PART INSIDE AND MOST LIKELY BROKEN THE TAIL LIGHT. I OWN A 2004 NISSAN QUEST. I HAD LIFT THE TRUNK OF THE CAR WITH A REMOTE TO QUICKLY GRAB SOMETHING FROM THE TRUNK AS I WAS IN A HURRY. THE HATCHBACK CAME CRASHING DOWN ON MY HAND. THE BAG I WAS GRABBING GOT CAUGHT IN BETWEEN AND KEPT ME FROM SEVERING MY HAND. I TOOK THE CAR TO NISSAN WHO DID NOT SEEM TO BE BOTHERED THE LEAST BY THIS. THEY TOLD ME TO REPLACE A MOTOR THAT CONTROLS THE TRUNK. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY DEVICE TO REVERSE THE DOOR AND KEEP IT FROM CLOSING SO RAPIDLY. WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES THE CAR ACCELERATES. I HAVE HAD A DATA RECORDER ATTACHED WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT THE DEALER SAYS THAT IT DIDN'T RECORD ANYTHING.-- THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY---, WHILE IN SLOW TRAFFIC AS I PUMP THE BRAKES. SPECIFICALLY : THE RPM ACTUALLY INCREASED AS THE CAR MADE THE ABS GRINDING SOUND AND INCREASED THE VELOCITY OF THE CAR. I HAD TO QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO GET CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SERVICE AGENT STATES THAT THEY CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT ANY REPAIR WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT PRESSING THE BRAKE WILL NOT MAKE THE CAR STOP; BUT THEY ADMIT THAT PRESSING THE BRAKE COULD ACCELERATE THE VELOCITY OF THE CAR. I HAVE DUPLICATED THIS ISSUE TO THE DEALER MECHANIC FOREMAN AT UNIVERSAL CITY NISSAN IN CALIFORNIA BUT HE NO LONGER WORKS AT THIS DEALER.

WHILE THE ENGINE WAS ON AND THE CAR IN DRIVE, BUT STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY REVVED UP TO ABOUT 6000 RPM. THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, IN A PARKING LOT. I THOUGHT PERHAPS I HAD INADVERTENTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. TWO DAYS AGO IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT HALF A MILE, STOPPED THE CAR FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, AND WHEN I STARTED AGAIN THE ENGINE RACED ONCE IT WAS PUT IN GEAR. I HAD TO TURN IT OFF AND THEN ON 3 TIMES FOR IT TO COME BACK TO NORMAL. YESTERDAY I DROVE ABOUT ONE MILE TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND WHILE I WAS STOPPED WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE THE CAR STARTED TO REV HIGH AND MOVE INTO THE INTERSECTION UNTIL I MOVED IT OUT OF DRIVE. I HAD TO SHUT OFF AND RESTART FOR IT TO RETURN TO NORMAL. ABOUT 15 OR 20 MORE MILES OF DRIVING AND A HALF DOZEN STOPS, IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS LEAVING A PARKING SPACE. ON JUNE 26TH 2013 THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TOTAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING AND THERE WAS A CORRESPONDING STRONG ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. FORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE COAST OFF THE MAIN ROAD AND THE FAMILY WAS ABLE TO EXIT SAFELY. NO FIRE STARTED BUT CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. CAR WAS TOWED TO NISSAN WHERE THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS THE GROUND BATTERY CABLE BEING PULLED OFF THE TRANSMISSION MOUNTING POINT. THE BATTERY CABLE WAS REPLACED WITH A MODIFIED DESIGN THAT PREVENTS THIS FROM OCCURRING, THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE GROUND WIRE BREAKING WAS $2,871 WHICH INCLUDED THE GROUND WIRE, 6 IGNITION COILS, ECM, IPDM AND LABOR. THERE IS A TSB NTB06-075 FOR QUEST MODELS 2004-2007, HOWEVER THE 2008 HAD THE SAME DESIGN AS INDICATED IN THE TSB. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN AT ST CHARLES NISSAN AS RECENTLY AS 6 WEEKS EARLIER AND THE 27-POINT NISSAN INSPECTION HAD BEEN PERFORMED WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO INCLUDED THE BATTERY CABLE. NO ISSUES WERE FOUND WITH THE BATTERY CABLE SO EITHER THE INSPECTION WAS NOT THOROUGH OR THERE WAS CATASTROPHIC WIRE FAILURE CAUSED BY EXCESSIVE DRIVETRAIN MOVEMENT. THE VEHICLE SMELLED LIKE IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHICH IT UNFORTUNATELY DID NOT. LOSING ALL POWER INSTANTANEOUSLY WITHOUT ANY PRIOR SYMPTOMS OR SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS IS CONCERNING FOR THIS COULD HAVE JUST AS EASILY HAPPENED IN AN INTERSECTION OR WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFELY ABLE TO AVOID OTHER VEHICLES. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING HOME, AND AS SOON AS I ENTER THE GARAGE AND GET OFF THE VEHICLE, THERE IS A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS. I KNEE DOWN AND SAW THAT THERE IS A STREAM OF LIQUID COMING OUT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE, IMMEDIATELY, I PUT THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE GARAGE AND PARK IN THE STREET INSTEAD, CALL NISSAN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IMMEDIATELY AND THEY HELP TO CALL 911 TO HAVE FIRE DEPARTMENT COME OUT AND PUT A TEMP FIX TO STOP THE LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOW TO CLOSEST NISSAN DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. BASED ON WHAT I READ FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V003000, DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE FORWARD EDGE OF THE FUEL TANK, IN THE EVENT THAT A VEHICLE FRONT TIRE RUNS OVER A SMALL, SHARP OBJECT IN THE ROAD, CATCHES IT AND PROPELS IT TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, IT MAY STRIKE AND PUNCTURE THE FUEL TANK, AND I THINK THIS IS WHAT HAPPEN. The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that the vehicle ran out of gasoline with the fuel gauge indicating that there was a quarter tank to a half tank of gasoline inside the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle was under an unstated recall for the fuel leveling unit; however, the part for the repair was on a national backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the part was not only on backorder, but that the part for the repair was discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

I was parking and barely moving with my foot in the brake when the vehicle suddenly reved up loudly. I had to depress the brake heavily to keep it from moving forward and put it in neutral. The vehicle continued to rev hard until I turned off the engine.

I backed out of driveway towards the south to head north on public way. Vehicle immediately started accelerating backwards (south) without assistance, quickly getting out of control. No amount of pressure on my part would make the brakes work and there was no control of the steering. The vehicle was no longer under my control and crashed backwards into a large tree which held it from crashing farther, and a small tree on the side which held it from rolling down into a brook. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and I would prefer that it be inspected. No vehicles or pedestrians were in the street when the vehicle lost all control without human assistance. The passenger is front passenger seat was taken to ER and has since been seeing a doctor. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or other service center. The police were at scene of accident right after it occurred. No lights, messages, or other symptoms gave any warning before the vehicle started racing and immediately went out of control with no control over speed, brakes or steering The consumer provided photos and police report.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while having routine maintenance by an independent mechanic, she was informed that the frame was rotten and had several holes. Additionally, the control arms were loose and the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The contact stated while driving the steering wheel was shaking and was unable to accelerate over 40 mph. The accelerator pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The contact stated the check engine, traction control,ABS, brake light and slip warning indicator lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who confirmed that the subframe needed to be replaced the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to the first mechanic who informed that the subframe was not replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN QUEST. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT SECTION OF THE SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL FILLER TUBE WAS RUSTED AND CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE REFUELING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. JP MOTORS NISSAN (3675 FRONTAGE RD, PERU, IL) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000. *PM*JB

THE BRAKE, ABS, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS SHOWING ON THE DASH AND WILL NOT GO OUT. I JUST HAD BRAKES AND ROTORS PUT ON THIS VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. THE VEHICLE AT FIRST WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO START VEHICLE. NOW THE ENGINE RUNS ROUGH AND IT HESITATES ON ACCELERATION.

EVER SINCE I PURCHASE MY NISSAN QUEST 2008 LAST YEAR ON OCTOBER 26, 2013. MY CD DOESN'T WORK. IT KEEPS EJECTING THE CD OUT AND NO MUSIC, I MIGHT SAY. ALSO, EVERYTIME I TURN ON MY VAN, THE RADIO WORKS, THEN IN A FEW MINUTES IT BLOWS OUT THE MUSIC. THEN A BUZZING SOUNDS STARTS TO HAPPEN. THE PASSENGER WINDOW DOESN'T GO UP ALL THE WAY. AS I PRESS THE BUTTON TO GO UP, THE WINDOW COMES DOWN HALF WAY. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY PRESS THE WINDOW BUTTON. LITTLE BY LITTLE SO THE WINDOW CAN CLOSE. MY AIR CONDITIONER TAKES FOREVER TO GET COOL. INSTEAD OF COOL AIR, IT BLOWS WARM AIR. I AM VERY UPSET, BECAUSE I AM STILL PAYING FOR THIS NISSAN QUEST. I HAVE ALL THE CAR FAX, GIVEN TO ME BY THE CAR DEALER AND IT SAYS THE CAR HAS NO PROBLEMS AND ITS IN COMPLETE GREAT CONDITIONS. AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING. NO ACCIDENT. NO IMPACT. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING IN A TRAVEL LANE, NO OTHER VEHICLES NEAR BY, NO OBJECTS WERE HIT. NO INDICATION OF IMPACT TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELTS ALSO HAVE LOCKED UP AS THOUGH THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT. IT APPEARS TO BE A MALFUNCTION OF THE AIRBAGS. OUR CONCERN IS PRIMARILY THAT IF THIS IS A POTENTIAL DEFECT IN THE SYSTEM THAT IT COULD BE MUCH MORE SERIOUS FOR SOMEONE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET OR FREEWAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN QUEST. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATE SPEEDS OF 30-35 MPH IN TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF HIM STOPPED ABRUPTLY. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL; HOWEVER, THE BRAKES BECAME SPONGY AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE PRECEDING VEHICLE.
