AFTER COMPLETELY FUELING THE TANK, THE CAR RUNS FOR ABOUT 2 TO 3 MILES AND THEN BECOMES TO SAY THAT THAT FUELING TANK IS EMPTY. ITS BEEN OCCURRING FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS. WE'VE TRIED CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP AND THE FUEL CAP, BUT IT STILL CONTINUES TO SHOW THAT THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS, THE CAR WILL START GOING SLOW AND STOP BY ITS SELF AFTER SHOWING THAT THERE IS NOW GASOLINE. AFTERWARDS, IT WILL COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES, IT STARTS TO RUN NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT EVERY 2 TO 3 DAYS.

THE VEHICLE GAS GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS. THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THERE WAS NO GAS IN THE TANK AND I HAD TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED 6/6/15.

OUR GAS GAUGE INDICATED THAT WE HAD 1/4 TANK OF GAS. THE TANK WAS EMPTY. WE ENDED UP STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY IN 80 DEGREE WEATHER WITH TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR TILL AAA WAS ABLE TO BRING US GAS. WE GOT TO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED UP AND THE TANK LITERALLY TOOK OVER 20 GALLONS, WHICH MEANS IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY EVEN THOUGH THE GAS GAUGE SAID WE STILL HAD 1/4 TANK. IN ADDITION, ONLY A FEW WEEKS BEFORE, WE HAD JUST REPLACED THE GAS GAUGE WITH A BRAND NEW, NISSAN GAS GAUGE. NISSAN HAS ALREADY ISSUED A RECALL ON 2009 QUESTS FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT APPARENTLY MY QUEST'S VIN IS NOT AMONG THOSE RECALLED, SO THEY WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT MY PAYING A NISSAN DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THEN WRITING A CLAIM. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE RECALL TO ALL 2009 NISSAN QUESTS. I SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED FOR A FIX THAT IS CLEARLY SPECIFIC TO THIS NISSAN VEHICLE'S PROBLEM. *TR

WE RECEIVED A LETTER ON JAN 9, 2015 FROM NISSAN NORTH AMERICA ADVISING THAT THERE WAS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE AND THAT WE MUST MAINTAIN AT LEAST A HALF TANK OF GAS UNTIL THEY REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. THEY ADVISED THEY WOULD CONTACT US WITHIN A FEW MONTHS TO DO SO. THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED US IN ANY WAY. AS FAR AS WE KNOW WE MUST CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THE GAS LEVEL. WHEN WE CALLED THEY SAID THERE WOULD NOT BE SENDING A LETTER RESCINDING THE FIRST LETTER'S REQUIREMENTS AND THAT ONLY THOSE CAR OWNERS NEEDING REPAIR WOULD RECEIVE A FOLLOWUP LETTER. THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A MINUTE. IF THEY ADVISE YOU BY LETTER THAT YOU MUST TAKE ACTION TO AVOID A PROBLEM, THEN THEY MUST ADVISE YOU THAT SUCH NO LONGER NEEDS TO BE DONE ALSO BY LETTER. The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that the passenger's side rear sliding door inadvertently opened while the vehicle was locked. Additionally, there was water build-up in the passenger's side rear sliding door track and an unknown burn mark on the floorboard. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,521.

SLIDING DOOR(S). WHILE REVIEWING OTHERS COMPLAINTS OF THE NISSAN QUEST, I FOUND I WAS NOT ALONE WITH THE MANUAL SLIDING DOORS. THE DRIVER SIDE MANUAL SLIDING DOOR GETS STUCK RANDOMLY, AND ONE MUST PULL ON IT SO HARD (TO GET IT OPEN), THAT ONE IS FEARFUL OF THE HANDLE BREAKING OFF. ALL FOUR MOTOR MOUNTS HAVE GONE OUT WITHIN THE YEAR. DURING ONE INSTANCE 3 MOUNTS WENT OUT AT ONCE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD CLANKING NOISE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE SHOP. WHILE THERE I WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL.

WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE FRONT ENGINE MOUNT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AS IT WAS STARTING TO WEAR. THE ENGINE WAS NOT MOVING AT ALL AT THIS TIME. IN DECEMBER 2014 WAS TOLD AGAIN OF THE ENGINE MOUNT AT THE DEALER (ENGINE STILL NOT MOVING). SPOKE WITH MECHANIC REGARDING ISSUE AND WHY HE THINKS IT NEEDS REPLACING. I WAS SHOWN BY THE MECHANIC WHY HE THINKS IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I TOLD THE MECHANIC AND THE SERVICE PERSONNEL THAT WITHIN ALL THE YEARS OF MY DRIVING AND THAT WITH ALL THE VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED I HAVE NEVER REPLACED AN ENGINE MOUNT. The contact owned a 2009 Nissan Quest. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, she did not notice that the traffic light had turned red and continued driving. Another oncoming vehicle made a left turn in front of her. The contact stated that she swerved and the front end of the vehicle hit a pole. The contact saw smoke coming from underneath the hood. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact hit her chest against the steering wheel. Bystanders assisted the contact out of the vehicle. The contact was transported to the local hospital. The contact was then transported to the Trauma unit of another hospital. The contact sustained a broken sternum and broken left and right ribs. The contact stated that she spent 10 days in the trauma unit, and she also received home health assistance. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V067000 (Air Bags) that she related to the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE, THE CAR 'REVED UP' AND BEGAN MOVING FORWARD. WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT, I PUSHED DOWN ON THE BRAKES. THE CAR WAS STILL MOVING FORWARD, SO I THEN PUT THE CAR INTO 'PARK'. AT THAT POINT, IT MADE A HIDEOUS GRINDING NOISE, SO I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE CAR OFF. ABOUT 30 SECONDS LATER, I STARTED THE CAR AND IT SOUNDED FINE. THIS WILL BE THE 3RD SET (INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL ONES WHEN PURCHASED) OF BRAKES ON THE REAR SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASE NEW AT THE DEALER. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ARE ALSO ON THEIR 3RD SET. THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT IS MY BRAKING HABITS MAKING THE PADS WEAR OUT SO QUICKLY. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WEAR OUT AROUND 35,000- 37,000 MILES. THE REAR BRAKE PADS LAST AROUND 40,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 86,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASE NEW. I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND INFORMED THEM THAT IF EITHER THE FRONT OR REAR BRAKE PADS WEAR OUT WITHIN THE SAME TIME AS THE PREVIOUS ONES HAD, THAT A NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE WOULD NEED TO INVESTIGATE. WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN HAVING SEVERE SAFETY ISSUES ON THIS VEHICLE. IT INITIALLY STARTED OUT AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHICH TOOK QUITE SOME TIME TO REPLICATE SINCE A SPECIFIC CHAIN OF EVENTS HAD TO BE FOLLOWED. BUT SINCE THEN, THE PROBLEM CAN BE REPLICATED AT WILL BUT AGAIN ITS BASED ON A SEQUENCE OF EVENTS AND ROAD CONDITIONS. THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES HORRIBLY AND THERE IS A LOUD RUMBLING NOISE. THE CAR IS DIFFICULT TO HANDLE ONCE THIS VIBRATION STARTS. IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR HAS A FLAT TIRE OR THE AXLE HAS BEEN SEVERELY DAMAGED THUS IMPAIRING STEERING CONTROL. MAY 20TH 2010 WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD THE ISSUE WITH THE QUEST WHILE I WAS ON IL INTERSTATE 57. SEPT, 11 2010 IS WHEN THIS HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS HEADED TO FLORIDA. OCT. 4TH, 2010 IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON FLORIDA INTERSTATE 275. IT CONTINUED TO OCCUR REPEATEDLY. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO NISSAN ON JULY,18TH, 2011 WITH 31,573 MILES ON THE VAN. THE NISSAN FOLKS DROVE 189 MILES BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE. ON JAN. 2, THEY TRIED BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE FEB. 1ST, 2012 THE SERVICE MANAGER AND I DROVE 200 MILES IN ORDER TO REPLICATE IT. WE NOTICED THAT THE VDC LIGHT CAME ON. THE GUESSING GAME ON THE NISSAN SIDE CONTINUED. THEY REPLACED THE ABS SYSTEM STOP LAMP SWITCH, AND OTHER ABS RELATED ITEMS. ONCE THEY HANDED US THE VEHICLE STATING THAT THE ISSUE WAS FIXED, WE TOOK IT ON A TEST DRIVE AND WERE ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. MAY 29, 2012 I TOOK QUEST BACK IN BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE ISSUE WHILE THE NISSAN FOLKS TOOK IT OUT ON A TEST DRIVE. ON JUNE 18, THE SERVICE MANAGER AND I WENT ON ANOTHER 200 MILES ROAD TRIP AND I WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS TIME THEY BLAMED THE WHEEL BEARINGS TO BE THE CAUSE SO THEY REPLACED THAT BUT AGAIN THAT WAS NOT THE CULPRIT AS I WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN I TOOK IT ON A TEST DRIVE ONCE NISSAN HANDED ME THE VEHICLE. *TR

WENT ON A ROAD TRIP. OUR NEW NISSAN QUEST 2009 WAS FINE UNTIL AFTER 4 HOURS OF DRIVING AND THEN SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE. IT SHOOK SO BADLY THAT WE THOUGHT WE HAD A FLAT TIRE. IT CONTINUED TO SHAKE UNTIL WE PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WE WENT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WAS FINE FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND THEN ACTED UP AGAIN. THE SAME THING HAPPENED. IT WON'T LET US ACCELERATE AND NO MATTER HOW SLOW WE GO IT WAS STILL SHAKING. WE HAD AN INFANT IN THE VAN AND OUR OTHER SON WAS 5 YRS. VERY DANGEROUS TO BE ON THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND HAVING TO PULL OVER EVERY COUPLE OF HOURS WHEN IT STARTED ACTING UP. I HAVE CUSTOMER FEEDBACK/CONCERN ON THE NISSAN QUEST 2009. LAST WEEK THE VAN OWNER WAS PUTTING THE KIDS IN THE BACK OF THE VAN AND ASKED THE THREE YEAR OLD TO GET IN THE CAR WHILE SHE WAS HELPING THE OTHER 2 YEAR OLD GET IN AS WELL. THE SLIDING DOOR WAS OPENED, MOVED TO THE END BUT NOT LATCHED IN THE OPEN POSITION. IT WAS A WINDY DAY AND THE DOOR STARTED TO SLIDE DOWN TO THE CLOSE POSITION. THE 3 YEAR OLD CHILD WAS GETTING IN AND HAD HIS HAND BY THE DOOR LOCK HELPING HIMSELF UP. AT THAT TIME, THE DOOR CLOSED VERY HARD WITH THE WIND, PINCHED HIS HAND AND LATCHED CLOSED WITH THE CHILD'S HAND IN BETWEEN. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM TO CHECK HIS HAND. I WORKED AS A DESIGN CONTROLS QUALITY ENGINEER. I AM REQUIRED TO ENSURE WE MINIMIZE ANY POTENTIAL RISK BY BUILDING RISK MITIGATION FEATURES INTO THE DESIGN TO AVOID ANY HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS DUE TO ANY PRODUCT FAILURE OR USER HANDLING. THUS, I AM WRITING TO INQUIRE HOW YOU CAN USE THIS FEEDBACK TO ELIMINATE THIS SAFETY CONCERN? THE QUEST IS MOST LIKELY USED BY FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN. IF THE DOOR SLIDES ITSELF TO THE CLOSE POSITION AND LATCHES CLOSED WITH A KID'S HANDS IN BETWEEN AND THERE IS NO SENSOR TO PREVENT THE DOOR FROM CLOSING, OR SOME INDICATION TO THE USER THAT THE DOOR IS NOT LOCKED IN THE OPEN POSITION, OR A WAY TO ENSURE THE DOOR IS ONLY CLOSED BY HUMAN HANDLING, I AM CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT THEY COULD DO IN THEIR PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TO ELIMINATE THIS POTENTIAL HAZARD FROM HAPPENING? *TR
