The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at approximately 75 MPH, the transmission failed to operate as designed and the vehicle lost motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and was able to drive the vehicle again after the vehicle had cooled down. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or mechanic. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

Vehicle was driven for 1 hour and 6 minutes for 73 miles. The max speed reached for 65 of the miles was 75 mph and the CVT FLUID TEMPERATURE PROTECTION LOGIC caused the vehicle to decelerate and the driver was barely able to pull off the interstate to a safe location. There should be a recall, owners of this vehicle should not be responsible to pay for a design flaw of this vehicle. This is the 3rd incident that this happened the last 6 months.

My 17yr old son and 20 yr old daughter were traveling to visit grandparents. They were driving normal highway speed and the transmission just cut out and the RPMs reved up to the red line and they barely made it off the road before a collision. This vehicle only has 70k miles and contains one of the faulty transmissions that they are aware of. This model was not included in their recall and is dangerous. This should be considered deception of the consumer, since they knew they built a faulty product and all of these vehicles should be recalled. Nissan should reimburse all consumers for such a poor/faulty/dangerous product.

Censor light came on making the vehicle unsafe to drive and unable to be inspected and the manufacturer said it's a known defect with the sensor but is not under recall so they are not under obligation to repair. Estimated costs to repair $3000. They said for year 2013 and beyond it was covered by a recall but not for my vin number

An airbag light came on on the dashboard of the vehicle. The Nissan Dealership diagnosed the “D/S AIRBAG MODULE OPEN” and quoted me for $1,614.64. They said the airbag was faulty and would not deploy in the event of an accident.

FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND DASH BOARD LOCATED NEAR PASSENGER SEAT. 2012 NISSAN ROUGE WAS INSPECTED BY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER TECHNICIAN AND DETERMINED THE SEAT SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND MUST BE REPLACED. THE DIAGNOSIS COST $130. REPAIR COST IN WRITING TOTALS $2,400 TO REPLACE SEAR CUSHION. THIS SEEMS EXCESSIVE, AS IT IS A PASSENGER SAFETY ISSUE, IS IT COVERED BY RECALL? THIS VEHICLE IS A 2012 MODEL PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2011.

The transmission needs repair. It is a CVT transmission, known to be problematic in Nissans.

I have a 2012 Nissan Rogue with 84,000 miles and my CVT makes a howling noise when I start up the car. After warming up the car, the howling noise continues onto the local city streets and into the highway, and after a few minutes of driving, the screeching sounds go away. A few weeks later, I brought the car into a local mechanic for an oil change and the mechanic determined that the transmission needs to be replaced. I have maintained the car in optimal care by ensuring maintenance and general repairs are done bi-annually. After discussing this matter with Nissan Corporate, they determined my car warranty has expired and they cannot extend other Nissan Rogue extended warranty for my car. However, the 2003-2010 Nissan vehicles equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) have a 10-year/120,000-mile (whichever comes first) CVT limited warranty extension, according to the Nissan Corporate warranty page. The cost to fix the car is approximately $5,500. The replacement of the transmission and additional normal wear and tear repairs (back rotors and pads) will cost more than the value of the car. Due to the faulty CVT design based on historic reporting on this model, I am very disappointed to learn that the quality and integrity of the transmission for having a car at such a low mileage. I had been lucky to bring the car into a local mechanic just in time before it stopped working. Had the car stopped on the highway, I would have caused a major traffic accident due to the poor quality design of the transmission.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, before the engine seized. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. The contact noticed black smoke coming from under the hood. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact had the spark plugs and boots replaced. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that an abnormal sound was coming from the engine when the vehicle was restarted. The check engine warning light and the TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The failure had progressively worsened, and the vehicle was no longer driven. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of gasoline. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 210,000.

My cvt transmission is bad. It's apparently a problem with a lot of 2012 Nissan rogues. When I drive, if I stop at a stop light, when the light turns green I hit the gas pedal and the car doesn't move.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that 6 hours after their vehicle was parked around sometime after midnight the vehicle suddenly caught fire. The key fob began to sound off an alarm where the contact had pressed a button to deactivate about 2 times before going to check the vehicle. Before being able to reach the vehicle the contact was stopped by a family member as well as verbally warned by a neighbor that the vehicle had caught on fire. The fire department arrived then broke into the vehicle and put out the fire. A fire report and police report was filed. The fire department had stated that they believed it was a mechanical issue that caused the failure however it had not been confirmed. The vehicle was not towed but had not been inspected to determine if the condition results in totaling the vehicle or not as of yet. The inside of the vehicle was completely burned and the vehicle was unable to be driven. There was no damage to property other than the vehicle. There were no injuries. There was no medical attention needed. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

One year ago I had the transmission and computer replaced on my 2012 Nissan Rogue SL, after losing driving power SEVERAL times WHILE DRIVING. To both my and my mechanics amazement, this did not solve the issue! My mechanic traced it back to the engine wiring harness. Nissan claimed to not have any of the required wiring harnesses in stock, and for the life of us we could not find a replacement online. After some research, we came across NHTSA Recall Number15V-032. We were again amazed to learn that my car was not included in the recall, but other 2012 Rogues were. My mechanic went wire through wire, and after 6 months of issues and over $6,000 in parts and labor, I was back on the road. Fast forward to today, I am now dealing with the same issue AGAIN, except this time I was traveling on the PA Turnpike with 3 other passengers when my check engine light turned on and the car lost all power. This car is not only a money pit but a MASSIVE safety issue. I wish I had done more research into the disaster that is Nissan & their early model CVT Transmissions. The NHTSA needs to step in and expand these recalls and class action lawsuits to ALL year models, not just a few.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, she saw smoke exiting from under the hood, and then the vehicle seized. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road to jump the battery and continue driving to her destination. The contact stated she was unable to use any electronic features inside the vehicle, such as locking the door, opening/closing windows, moving the driver's side seat, or use the smart key fob. The contact experience the same failure the following day. The contact drove to AutoZone and purchased a new battery, but continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer who associated the failure with rodents consuming wires but did not inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact stated she replaced the battery for the third. The contact called another local dealer: Teddy Nissan (3660 Boston Rd, The Bronx, NY 10469:(888) 462-4710), made them aware of the failure, and set up an appointment to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V032000 (Electrical System), however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

There are a few things that I would like to report. I have mentioned these to dealership service centers and have been ignored in the past. I financed my vehicle in November of 2018. Everything was fine at first when soon after I started noticing that my blinkers , blink fast . I went in to get the bulbs changed and they were still blinking fast. One person said it could be electrical. Soon after that all of my dash lights stopped working. Then most concerning is that my passenger door just stopped working from the outside it won’t open from the outside you can hear it unlocking it can only be opened from the inside Now the driver door is Doing The same exact thing making this an extreme safety hazard.

1/2024 car loses power going from 70mph to about 40mph - dealership adjusted transmission fluid, 12/2024 started having power issues again dropping from 40mph to 20mph. Dealership said they couldn't do anything until it starts happening more frequently. So I'm suppose to just drive it with a potential crash that could hurt or kill someone. Not acceptable, Nissan needs to recall 2012 Rogues due to transmission issues before someone gets killed.

WHEN DRIVING FOR SO LONG AS IN LONG DISTANCE THE VEHICLE WON'T ACCELERATE. SPEED LIMIT COULD BE 75 MPH AND AFTER ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT A HOUR CAR SPEED WILL DROP AND WON'T ACCELERATE PASS 60 MPH. GAS PEDAL COULD BE ALL THE WAY DOWN AND STILL WON'T ACCELERATE.

MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, USUALLY GOING UPHILL, I HAVE TROUBLES WITH THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION. THE CAR STARTS TO MAKE A FUNNY SOUND, AS IF IT'S TRYING TO ACCELERATE, BUT IS UNABLE TO. I'VE HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN AND WILL NOT GO PAST LIKE 40 MILES PER HOUR, EVEN IF I'M STEPPING ON THE GAS. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I'M TYPICALLY NOT IN THE SLOW LANE, SO I START TO IMPEDE TRAFFIC WHEN THIS HAPPENS, AND CARS GET REALLY CLOSE TO HITTING ME.

There is a very strong odor of gas that I can smell inside the cabin and fuel consumption is at an all time high.I drove on a full tank less than 100 miles and it was on empty. The storing gas odor is concerning and Nissan refuses to address or fix.

Reported this issue to NHTSA 12/2018. Around 8/2022 incident started - full tank of gas, range 280 miles (typically 320 miles). Following daily drive/use the fuel gauge and electronic display not in sync with distance/miles remaining. I re-fueled a full tank end of August + early September (engine light pops on display) and the range as of today states 26 miles remaining (gauge should be in red area) however the gauge is at 1/4 tank. The fuel gauge and electronic display are inaccurate and erratic leaving me unsure how much fuel I actually have remaining.

THE FUEL GAUGE IS READING INCORRECTLY. WHEN IT IS FULL IT WILL SAY HALF A TANK. I HAVE TRIED TO FILL UP AT MULTIPLE DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS TO ENSURE THAT TANK WAS FULL. IT JUST READS INCORRECTLY ALWAYS. WITH JUST A LITTLE OVER A HUNDRED THOUSAND MILES.

RANGE SHOWED 297 WHEN NORMALLY IT SHOWS 320-330 MILES ON A FULL TANK. 12/18/18 AM, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. 12/18/18, PM 225 MILE RANGE, FUEL GAUGE AT 3/4. 12/19/18 AM, 212 MILES 3/4 FUEL. 12/19/18 AM 194 MILES, 3/4 GAUGE. 12/19/18 CALLED LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. 12/19/18 FILED REPORT TO NHTSA. FUEL GAUGE IS REPORTING 3/4 TANK (STOPPED MOVING). THE RANGE OF MILES ON A FULL TANK IS INCORRECT AND INACCURATE. SINCE THE FUEL GAUGE IS STUCK AT 3/4 FULL AND MY MILE READING IS INCORRECT, I DO NO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN MY VEHICLE UNLESS I TRACK THE ODOMETER START AND SUBTRACT 300 (TO BE SAFE).

DRIVING ON A HOT DAY, 104, CAR LOST ACCELERATION. DID NOT OVERHEAT. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 60 MPH. PARKED CAR OVERNIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY IT RAN FINE. The contact owned a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 35-75 MPH, the transmission failed to shift gear as needed. In addition, the RPMs decreased. The contact also stated that the vehicle accelerated independently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. A local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the vehicle was sold to a junk yard. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. The VIN was not available. The contact would like Nissan to get him another car.

THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 113,000 MILES WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHICH RESULTED IN US ALMOST GETTING INTO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. WE HAD GOTTEN THE ENGINE SERVICED EVERY 3,000 MILES FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS SO THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO NEGLECT.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE BETWEEN 70-80MPH MY VEHICLE DROPPED TO 60MPH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 60MPH, THEN WHEN PULLING OFF AN EXIT SCARED IT WOULDN'T GO PAST 20MPH. THIS PUT MY SON AND I'S SAFETY AT SERIOUS RISK WITH HAVING NO CONTROL OVER ACCELERATION. I GOT TO A MECHANIC WHICH DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD ME IT WAS TORQUE CONVERTER WITH TRANSMISSION. THE CAR ONLY HAS 65K MILES. THIS IS INSANE TO HAVE THESE ISSUES AND CLEARLY THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I FORTUNATELY PURCHASED A TRANSMISSION WARRANTY. WAITING TO SEE WHAT THE TOTAL DAMAGE IS. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE A SAFETY RECALL.

2012 NISSAN ROGUE LOST ACCELERATION WHILE ON A TRIP. ROGUE WOULD NOT GO MORE THEN 30-40 MPH IN A 80 MPH SPEED ZONE ON HIGHWAY. ALMOST GOT HIT A COUPLE TIMES TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC AND HAVING TO PULL OVER TO GIVE THE CAR A BREAK. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS WITH BEING 7 MONTHS PREGNANT, DRIVING IN A NO SERVICE AREA. COULDN'T CALL FOR HELP. IT WAS HOT OUT TO HAVE TO STOP WITH MY SELF AND THREE DOGS IN THE CAR.

DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES ON HIGHWAY, TRAVELLING AT 75 MPH. CHANGED LANES, SLOWED DOWN TO 65MPH. ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, RPM STUCK AT 2400, VEHICLE WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PAST 70 AFTER TAKING 10 SECONDS TO RISE TO THAT FROM 65MPH. DIDN'T GO PAST 2700RPM. GOT OFF HIGHWAY, STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. LIGHT TURNED GREEN, CAR ROSE VERY SLOWLY TO 2000 RPM, ACCELERATED VERY SLOWLY TO 30MPH. THIS CONTINUED FOR 5 MINUTES, PULLED OVER AND PARKED FOR 1 HOUR. STARTED DRIVING AGAIN, 30 MINUTES LATER CAR STUCK AT 2400 RPM, COULDN'T ACCELERATE PAST PREVIOUS TRAVELLING SPEED. TOOK TO DEALER, NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES FOUND, OF COURSE, 140 DOLLARS LATER NO RESOLUTION. CAR HAS 70,935 MILES ON IT

LABOR DAY LAST YEAR, WE WERE DRIVING DOWN AN OLD RURAL ROAD, JUST GOT DONE PASSING A CAR AND THEN OUR ROGUE SOUNDED LIKE IT REVVING THE ENGINE, THEN NEXT THING WE KNOW IT DIED AT 65 MPH WITH ONLY 102,000 MILES ON IT. $1000 ENGINE LATER WE FIXED IT. NOW, LAST WEEK ON MY WAY TO WORK, TRYING TO GET UP TO 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY AND IT REVS UP TO 4 GRAND AND WILL NOT SHIFT. WE LIMP IT HOME. THOUGHT NEEDED TRANNY FLUID SO WE ADD SOME. THAT FRIDAY WE TAKE ON A 2 1/2 ROAD TRIP, WE HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 40 MPH FOR CONSTRUCTION AND THEN ACCELERATE WHEN CONSTRUCTION WAS DONE. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IT REVVED UP TO 4 GRAND AGAIN. WHEN WE TRIED TO GET UP A HILL, ON A FREEWAY MIND YOU, WE HAD THE GAS PEDAL PEGGED AND IT CLIMBED THE HILL AT 20 MPH. THIS WAS ON A FREEWAY VERY DANGEROUS!! WE LIMPED IT TO A GAS STATION AND PARKED FOR AWHILE TO GET IT COOLED DOWN. WHEN TO MOVE IT AND ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAVE A CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. MY CAR SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. AAMCO IS TELLING ME I WILL NEED ONE SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT, THEY RAN CODES AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT I NEEDED A OVER 1200.00 EXTERNAL COOING SYSTEM AND IT IS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEN I GET A CALL AND ITS NOT. I TOOK IT TO THERE OTHER DEALERSHIP AND THE SALESPERSON AND MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM...IT STARTED OUT LOOSING POWER AND DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THATS KINDA SCARY. WEDNESDAY AUGUST 7, 2019, I PARKED MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT IN FULL SUN AT 11:30 A.M. WHEN I CAME BACK OUT TO MY CAR AND GOT IN, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING UP FROM WHAT LOOKED TO BE FROM THE FLOOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT I USED TO EXTINGUISH IT AS I WAS ON EMERGENCY MODE. I DO REMEMBER THAT I MADE SURE IT WASN'T FLAMMABLE. THE SUN WAS COMING THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT APPEARS THAT THE SUN WAS REFLECTING LIGHT FROM A MIRROR AT THE FRONT OF THE BOTTOM SEAT. IT WAS THE PART THAT WOULD BE AT A PASSENGER'S LOWER LEGS. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN NOV 2011. THERE WAS NO SNOW THAT WINTER. THIS YEAR WAS A NORMAL WINTER. I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW DANGEROUS IT WAS TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW WITH THIS VEHICLE. I CONTACTED NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT (#10800081). THEY DO NOT RETURN CALLS AND DID NOT ATTEMPT TO HELP RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I DISCOVERED THAT NISSAN INSTALLED A HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT "V" RATED TIRE ON THIS LIGHT 4 CYLINDER CROSS OVER. WHEN I CONTACTED DUNLOP THEY DID NOT HESITATE TO ADVISE THAT I REPLACE THE TIRES WITH A GOODYEAR ASSURANCE COMFORTRED TOURING TIRE FOR MAXIMUM WET, DRY AND SNOW CONDITIONS. I FEEL THESE TIRES(DUNLOP HIGH PERFORMANCE SP SPORT 7000 A/S SIZE 225/55/18) ON THIS VEHICLE IN NEW ENGLAND STATES POSE AN EXTREME HAZARD AND DANGER TO OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE AND NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECALL.

The main and most dangerous issue is first hearing high pitch whining/winding sound while driving as the rpm's start to spike and stay high resulting & causing vehicle to lose power and speed for no apparent reason. Subsequently, as you attempt to depress the gas pedal to increase speed to try to mitigate the issue, the vehicle continues to lose power and speed regardless of how depressed gas pedal is (even completely depressed to floorboard). Within seconds vehicle is forced to a stop from lack of power and acceleration and will not continue to drive at all. This issue is nothing less than terrifying and incredibly dangerous especially while on the freeway with heavy traffic speeding and whizzing past you at 70+ mph. If this is happening to people at night, it's only a matter of time before someone will be killed by the speeding and oblivious traffic coming from behind if that has not already occurred. I was travelling with my child and our dog in the back and wonder would have happened if I couldn't have merged into the slower lanes in heavy traffic and off to the shoulder to "safety." What will happen to a family in the fast lane that is not able to merge to safety or when they find themselves forced and stuck in the middle of the freeway between the median and the fast lane?? In addition, upon starting, vehicle will also idle higher than normal and stay high with slight fluxuation even while in park. While driving, rpm's continue to spike with every gear shift and vehicle is slow to respond and keep up with desired speed and will continue to worsen as time progresses. The longer the drive, the more (tired) and sluggish it seems with both lack of response, lack of power, and lack of speed. First signs of issue were while idling at stoplights, vehicle will shake and seem to idle very low as if going to die while at idle. There is also a noticeable shake while driving especially at higher speeds with this problem remaining and lasting the duration of drive.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while in reverse(R) an abnormal dragging sound was coming from the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on three separate occasions however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. On the fourth occasion, the contact was advised by her husband to have the dealer check the brake rotors and calipers. The dealer then discovered that the parts were defective, and the parts were replaced; however, after the repair was performed the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

While my 2 daughters(22,17) were driving at highway speed from N.E to Co. the vehicle without warning decelerated and dropped to 35 mph,In a panic she pulled off to the side of the highway and called my wife who googled nissan rogue issues and found that the transmission would overheat and then decelerate to protect its components from further damage without any prior warnings.If you wait awhile and were lucky that the tranny had not failed completely in about a half an hour the vehicle would reset and you would be able to drive it again.My daughters made it home and i started to research the commonly known issue with the C.V.T transmission! 1 week later my wife informed me she has had 4-5 instances where the car will not accelerate and high engine R.P.M.s while being in stop and go traffic or from being stopped at a red light or stop sign.I called Nissan consumer affairs dept.and was told there is nothing they were able to assist with because this car had no recalls and 122,164 miles on it.On Monday 5/31/2021 the car would start but the transmission would not engage,the R.P.M.s would not go above 1000.I contacted Nissan and they told me to bring it to a Nissan dealer for diagnostics.I had the vehicle towed($95.)to Valley Nissan longmont,C0(303-586-4311)Saied told me "the tranny had failed,and there were a few gaskets that needed replaced.$147.for diagnostics and the estimate to repair is $4281.I called Nissan C.C 1(888-388-0318)to report the findings and was again told"I am sorry but there is NOTHING we can help you with.I asked Valley Nissan if they would be able to help out and they offered to help by reducing labor and materials for the replacement and repairs to $3859.54.I cannot at this point afford to make the needed repairs,I am not working currently. IN NOVEMBER 2017, WHILE DRIVING IN ONE OF THE PASSING LANES ON QEW DRIVING FROM BUFFALO, NY TO TORONTO, CANADA, AT APPX 70 MPH, THE CAR STARTED LOSING POWER AND SPEED. THE RPM STARTED REVVING ALOT BUT THE CAR SPEED DECREASED RAPIDLY. THE CARS BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDED ME AT THIS SPEED. I WAS ON A 4 LANE THRUWAY AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO PULL TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD TO THE SHOULDER BECAUSE ALL OF THE CARS WERE SPEEDING AROUND ME. QUITE FRANKLY, IT WAS A TERRIFYING SITUATION TO BE IN AS SEMI TRUCKS AND OTHER CARS GOING 70 - 80+ MPH WERE SPEEDING UP BEHIND YOU AS YOUR VEHICLE LOST POWER. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LET THE CAR REST FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR THEN STARTED TO DRIVE AGAIN. I DROVE THE NEXT 30 MILES AT APPX 35-40 MPH WITH MY 4 WAY FLASHERS ON. THE CAR DID EVENTUALLY GET BACK TO SPEED AND SEEM TO DRIVE NORMAL. MILEAGE WAS APPX 125,000- 130,000. THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME IN MARCH 2019. I DROVE APPX 65 MILES ON COUNTRY ROADS IN A RURAL AREA TO PICK UP MY ELDERLY MOTHER TO TAKE HER TO THE HOSPITAL. THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE RPM'S WERE GOING CRAZY, THE CAR LOST POWER. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, THE CAR EVENTUALLY GOT BACK TO SPEED AGAIN. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE HER TO THE HOSPITAL IN MY CAR AND FORTUNATELY A NEIGHBOR LET ME USE THEIR CAR TO TRANSPORT MY MOM TO THE HOSPITAL. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR THE 75 MILES BACK HOME AND IT DROVE OKAY BUT I WAS VERY WORRIED I WOULD NOT MAKE IT HOME. MILEAGE WAS APPX 145,000. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who retrieved DTC codes: P0420 (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold), P0113 (Intake Air Temperature Sensor), P0101, and P0102 (Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors). The independent mechanic replaced the intake air temperature sensor and the MAF sensors; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 206,669.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the battery, brake, and oil warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that he pulled over and needed several attempts to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was shifted into drive(D) however, the vehicle failed to exceed 15 MPH. The contact had driven the vehicle to an auto parts store where a handheld scanner was used, and it was determined that the starter coil needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. CVT transmission. Car seems to lose power when accelerating from a stop or entering traffic. Shudders, shakes seems to go to limp mode. I read up on Nissan CVT issues. Warranty's have been extended on year before mine (2012) and those years after me. Called Nissan Corporate. They said they had few complaints on Rogues. I said are you serious? I've read about plenty of complaints. So why have you extended warrantys? Advised they couldn't help me. First Nissan for me and last. Have never had any transmission issues with my vehicles over the years and I'm 74. Other cars NOTHING major just regular maintenance. Disappointed with Nissan they know they have a major issue with CVT transmissions and don't stand behind their product. My car is sitting in the garage. I'm afraid to drive it and around $5000 to replace transmission. It's a 2012 Nissan Rogue SL. Please look into this issue.

THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP, THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A CALL THAT MY TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS ONLY 3.5 YEARS OLD (WELL TAKEN CARE OF) AND EVEN THOUGH IT HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT, A CAR AS NEW AS THIS ONE SHOULDN'T BE HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. Air bags are common problem. It can be googled. Ours stopped working. When braking the steering wheel shakes bad. Got fixed and came right back week later. Common problem. O2 sensor needed changed cause when slippery road indicator comes on car won't accelerate over 25 mph. Have to cut engine off wait for seconds and cut back on and its fine. Oil leak is where everyone online said there's is. There should be recall on these things it hurting environment n dangerous for drivers on the road.

My son was driving at a highway speed of 55 out of Lawrence, KS. He noticed left headlight flickering and starting to smoke. He immediately pulled over and exited the vehicle. At that point, the whole front of the car was engulfed in flames. Very dangerous. I can provide pictures but for some reason the upload information won't allow me to do it here. Fire department had to put it out and was a total loss.

We bought a 2012 Nissan Rogue with 88,000 miles for our daughter last year. Out of nowhere the car/transmission would not accelerate in rush hour, on the highway. The engine light came on but the message was vague as to what the issue was. I don't need to restate the obvious, as far as safety concerns. Thankfully she made it to the shoulder and we had to have the car towed. This could have had catastrophic consequences for her. I have read numerous posts about how this is an inherent problem with the Nissan transmissions without a recall. We are in the process of determining which repair facility to use but the cost, at a minimum, will be $4,200.00.

As I am steering, the horn goes off at any moment for a long period of time distracting many drivers and scaring them half to death on the road ! This is an incident that has been going on for a while, and there are many other people that I have came across with the same problem. This is my only car and I have no idea who to turn to, but the amount of money for a Nissan that is in great condition and has never been in an accidents seems to have allot of electrical failures.

The CVT component on these cars causes it to lose power and acceleration which can cause an bad accident..one morning while going to work i got onto the expressway and car did not want to acceleration and almost caused me to get into a collision with an 18 wheeler.. The next day i took it to an mechanic shop whereas they told me nothing was wrong with my car and i should contact nissan and complain because the only problem they can guess is its my CVT and nissan made the car to do that so it last longer.. Then 2 days later I was driving on a commercial road with lots of traffic when all of a sudden my car would not acceleration even when I pushed the pedal to the floor.. I pulled over and turned the car off for awhile and then Crunk it back up and it was accelerating better.. so over the course of 5 months I have been having this problem with my car when I come to a stop or when I decelerate and then accelerate.. I did some research to find out what could be the problem and I came across a thread of other consumers that were having the same exact problem with the nissan brand of cars and suv's.. even though they know this problem exists with their make and models they provide no solution other than spend more money on a car they designed with a defective transmission and/or other components.. this is a serious safety concern for anyone driving these cars or suvs from nissan..

The check engine warning light and the ABS warning light illuminated immediately. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. SRS air bag light was on, called dealer, light stayed on, CVT transmission has issues, electrical problems while driving, car will decelerate and stop without warning. My safety is at risk everyday, the car can stop at anytime without warning, airbag deployed. The dealership has not found any problems that they are willing to be accountable for. The vehicle has not been inspected before or after accident. Check engine light was on, transmission was replaced twice at my own expense. SRS light was on before accident.

The driver seat would not come back up after I used the recline button. There is no sound when I push the button to raise seat back up from the reclined position. The side airbags on driver seat back are not able to protect me if there is an accident. I do not use the recline function often so I don't have a history if when it stopped functioning.

When driving on the highway the vehicle will desegregate. Check engine light goes on and off and received 5 different codes for the transmission. Tire ?? system comes on and off. The engine overheats a lot especially on hot climates. I drove from New York to North Carolina and had to stop 5 times on the side of the road so the car could cool down.

My car is jerking/bucking when I accelerate. I was told by 2 mechanics that it is due to a transmission issue. I also was told that they have seen this issue on several other Nissan Rogues. I believe this is a safety issue because jerking while driving is dangerous because this action might cause an accident and endanger the occupants of the car and other cars driving nearby. There was a light that came on immediately when the car started to buck. This frightened me because I never experienced this before, especially since I had my car checked a month and a half prior. I am now scared to drive it due to my safety and others, but also doing more damage to the vehicle. This car has had transmissions issues in other various years. Obviously there is a defect with the CVT transmission for more years than what has been reported. My car is available to be inspected upon request.

At 60,000 miles the car had a cvt replacement. 70,000 miles later car needs second transmission replacement. Nissan is aware of their faulty cvt transmissions, but refuses to comply. Car is immaculate aside from cvt failure, not accidents. Used as station car. Car stalled in intersection. Luckily I was able to get to side of road. Very traumatizing

AFTER AN 1.5 HOURS ON AN INTERSTATE (NON-STOP DRIVING) THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO DECELERATE SPEED. WITH NO LIGHT INDICATOR OR EXPLANATION. THE ACCELERATOR GAUGE IS GOING UP AND DOWN REALLY QUICKLY, LIKE THE CAR IS OUT OF SYNC WITH THE SPEED. NO INDICATOR LIGHT OR ANYTHING TURNS ON. I WILL BE GOING AT A SPEED OF 75 OR 80 AND WITHOUT WARNING, IT DECREASES IN SPEED. I CAN PUT THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT STILL CONTINUES TO SLOW DOWN. THERE IS NO OVERHEATING FUMES OR SMELL AT ALL. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND WAIT UNTIL THE ENGINE COOLS DOWN BEFORE RETURNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME IN 2017 (PROBABLY 70,000 MILES) WHEN I TOOK A ROAD TRIP AND I THOUGH IT WAS A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE. UNFORTUNATELY, IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTERWARDS, BUT ALWAYS AFTER I'VE BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR. I'VE TAKEN IT IN TO BE SERVICED TWICE, THE WATER PUMPS WERE REPLACED, BUT STILL I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED SEPTEMBER 2020. I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS ISSUE UNTIL I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW OTHERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING. I JUST TRY NOT TO TAKE LONG ROAD TRIPS. DAY TO DAY DRIVING IS NOT AN ISSUES.

I REPORTED A FIRE COMPLAINT BACK IN THE SUMMER TO YOU ON THIS VEHICLE. NOW MY ACCELERATOR JUST SUDDENLY QUITS WORKING. I REPORTED THIS TO DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE NISSAN AROUND JUNE 2019. THEY SAID NO CODE CAME UP. IT HAS SINCE BEEN HAPPENING MORE AND MORE. TWICE WHEN I WAS TRYING TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE. TWO WEEKS AGO IT HAPPENED FIVE TIMES IN A ROW AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 30 MPH. WHEN I WOULD LET COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND PUSH IT AGAIN IT JUMPS LIKE ALL OF THE ENERGY BUSTS THROUGH AT ONCE. I HAVE SINCE DONE RESEARCH AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE STILL ONLY HAS LESS THAN 59,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM SURE PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO HAVE DIED BECAUSE OF IT BUT SINCE THEY ARE DEAD THEY CAN'T REPORT IT. I HAVE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AND IT MAKES THE SAFETY ISSUE EVEN WORSE. I CAN'T WALK VERY FAR IF I GET STRANDED. IF I DON'T GET REAR ENDED ON THE INTERSTATE BEFORE THAT HAPPENS. NISSAN IS VERY AWARE OF THIS. EVEN ROGUES WITH 8,000 MILES ARE DOING THIS. IT ISN'T A MATTER OF JUST BEING STRANDED SOMEWHERE. VEHICLE WAS MOVING EVERY TIME ON INTERSTATE AND CITY STREETS. THE VEHICLE WON'T SHOW A CODE TO THE DEALER SO THEY SAY I HAVE TO TAKE A VIDEO WITH MY FOOT PUSHING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR AND SHOWING THE SPEED THAT I AM GOING. WHENEVER MY CAR IS IN MOTION, WHEN TRYING TO CLIMB A HILL, IT WOULD STOP AUTOMATICALLY. AND OFTEN TIMES, I WOULD HAVE TO REVERSE MY CAR, TURN IT OFF AND GENTLY DRIVE IT UP THE HILL FOR FEAR THAT IT MAY SHUT ITSELF OFF. I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE AIR MASS FLOW 3 TIMES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE SEPTEMBER, AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP, THE DIAGNOSES CAME BACK AS THE AIR MASS FLOW, AFTER I HAVE JUST REPLACED IT. THE CAR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY NOT GET GAS FOR NO APPARENT REASONS. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ANY LONGER.

AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS ON, DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS, JUST THAT IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. COULD MEAN THAT MY AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY, COULD MEAN THAT IT WILL DEPLOY RANDOMLY. MY WARRANTY DID NOT COVER IT, NISSAN WILL NOT FIX IT. IT IS $1300 AND I HAVE ANOTHER HUGE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR: MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT FOR THE SECOND TIME AND MY CAR IS AT 102,000 MILES. WARRANTY COVERED IT THE FIRST TIME, JUST ENDED IN JULY AND I AM TOLD THAT NISSAN ONLY COVERS NEW TRANSMISSIONS FOR 1 YEAR OR 12,000 MILES. THIS CAR IS A LEMON. A TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT GO OUT TWICE IN 100,000 MILES. AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION SHOULD BE COVERED, THIS IS MY SAFETY.

ORIGINALLY THE CAR WOULD HESITATE, BOG,ONLY WHILE TURNING OR SLIGHTLY ROLLING. ADDITIONALLY NOW IT HESITATES FROM A DEAD STOP. SOMETIMES IT HESITATES,GOES,THEN HESITATES AGAIN. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT IT OCCURS WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR TURNING THROUGH A LIGHT. I'M AFRAID THE CAR WILL STALL AND I'LL BE HIT BROADSIDE OR FROM BEHIND. THE DEALER HAS LOOKED AT THE CAR 4 TIMES AND SAYS IT'S THE WAY THE CVT TRANSMISSION WORKS. THE CAR DID NOT DO THIS DURING THE FIRST 2000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, TRAVELING IN THE THIRD LANE AT 65 MPH, WHEN THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. I MADE MY WAY TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE AND THE CLUNKING NOISE FROM A FLAT TIRE WAS OBVIOUS. THE TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDEWALL FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAD NOT HIT ANYTHING OR GONE INTO A POTHOLE. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW 6 MONTHS AGO, AND IT HAD THE ORIGINAL TIRES THAT WERE PUT ON IT IN THE FACTORY. THE CAR CAME WITH CONTINENTAL P215/70R16 TIRES. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WHO CALLED CONTINENTAL AND NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP NOR THE TIRE MANUFACTURER ACCEPTS ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECTIVE TIRE. I HAVE DONE A GOOGLE SEARCH AND MY STORY OF HAVING A BLOW OUT WITH A CONTINENTAL TIRE ON A NEW CAR WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE IS NOT AN UNUSUAL ONE. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING NOW, AND WORRY THAT I WILL HAVE BLOW OUTS WITH THE OTHER THREE TIRES.
