TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE EXHIBITED LOW ENGINE POWER WITH HESITATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, ON A SEPARATE OCCASION THE ENGINE STALLED FIVE TIMES AND RESTARTED BEFORE REACHING THE DESTINATION. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V357000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: ENGINE: GASOLINE). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, FUEL INJECTOR AND IGNITION COIL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO VIBRATE AND SHAKE. THE CONTACTS MECHANIC REPLACED THE IGNITION COIL FUSE AND THE VEHICLE RAN NORMAL FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN BEGAN HESITATING AND EXHIBITING RECURRENCES OF STALLING. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS: 01V357000 AND 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) BUT THE CONTACTS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER RECALL. CAR WAS DRIVEN THE DAY BEFORE, RAN JUST FINE. NEXT MORNING, AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 1 MILE, BEGAN RUNNING TERRIBLE. THE ECU (ECM) IS NO LONGER SENDING A SIGNAL TO THE NUMBER 2 IGNITION COIL. I KNOW THAT THESE CARS HAD A RECALL ON THE FOAM COVERING THE ECU, THAT RECALL WAS DONE AND FOAM REMOVED. CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 60,000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE IN BELONG TO A 90 YEAR OLD LADY, SHE BOUGHT IT NEW. I HAVE FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF THESE CARS NOW HAVE BAD ECU, TIME FOR A RECALL!! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED IN OKLAHOMA IN APRIL 2013, AND ALL THE DASH GAUGES QUIT ON THE WAY HOME, ALONG WITH THE ODOMETER GOING OUT. AFTER THE CAR COOLED DOWN, THE GAUGES/ODOMETER STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THE CAR WAS THEN DRIVEN CROSS COUNTRY TO WASHINGTON STATE, AND WHEN THE HEATER WAS TURNED ON, AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE GAUGES/ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. ONCE COOLED OFF, THE GAUGES/ODOMETER WOULD START WORKING AGAIN. THE CAR WAS THEN DRIVEN TO TEXAS, AND THE SAME ISSUES CAME UP, ALL CENTERED AROUND TEMPERATURE. IT SEEMS WHEN THE HEATER IS TURNED ON (WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN WA), OR IF IT IS HOT OUTSIDE (THE DRIVE TO TEXAS, AND WHILE THE CAR HAS BEEN IN TEXAS), THE GAUGES WILL STOP WORKING AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, AND WILL START WORKING AGAIN ONCE THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE CAR HAS COOLED DOWN. CURRENTLY WE ARE HAVING 100 DEGREE WEATHER DAYS IN TEXAS, SO IF THE CAR IS HOT WHEN LEAVING THE HOUSE, THE GAUGES WON'T WORK, UNTIL THE AC HAS BEEN ON ENOUGH TO COOL THE INSIDE OF THE CAR (AND I ASSUME GAUGES) DOWN. USING THE CAR AFTER THE AC HAS BEEN ON AND THE INSIDE OF THE CAR IS COOL, THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE GAUGES. IF YOU TURN THE AC OFF AND ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN, ONCE THE HEAT BUILDS UP IN THE CAR (ABOUT 85 DEGREES OR SO), THE GAUGES WILL GO OFF AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE COMPUTER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT THE RPM READING WOULD REMAIN AT 2000 AND THE SPEED WOULD REMAIN AT 30 MPH WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE WIRES HAD BEEN DAMAGED WHEN THE COMPUTER WAS INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

ON 5-4-07 I NOTICED DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. MY BOYFRIEND FILLED IT WITH AIR AND I THOUGHT NOTHING FURTHER OF IT. ON 5-15-07 I PICKED HIM UP FROM WORK AND HAD A FLAT ON THE WAY OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. WE FILLED IT WITH AIR, BUT COULD NOT MAKE IT HOME BEFORE IT WAS TOTALLY FLAT AGAIN. SINCE IT WAS AFTER 11 PM AND WE WERE CLOSE TO HOME I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. ONCE WE ARRIVED THE TIRE HAD A CHUNK OF TREAD MISSING, EXPOSING METAL BARBS, ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. THE BOY FRIEND CHANGED IT THE NEXT DAY SO WE COULD TAKE IT TO DISCOUNT TIRE. THEY INFORMED US THAT 3 OF THE 4 TIRES WERE BAD, THE OTHER 2 WOULD END UP HAVING TREAD TORN IN THE SAME WA, DUE TO MECHANICAL ERROR IN MANUFACTURING OF THE TIRE. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY PER MILEAGE, WE STILL HAD TO BUY 4 NEW TIRES.*AK

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT ON HIGHWAY 94 IN SAN DIEGO, WHEN THE REAR RIGHT TIRE EXPLODED AT APPROXIMATELY 1:45 P.M. THE BLOWOUT CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR, REAR RIGHT PANEL AND REAR BUMPER. THE CAR WENT INTO A 360 SPIN IN THE FAST LANE AND MEDIAN OF THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A&C PAINT AND BODY AT 7083 BROADWAY, LEMON GROVE, CA AT THE REQUEST OF MY DAUGHTER'S INSURANCE AGENCY - TOPA INSURANCE. THE OBVIOUS DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP, MY DAUGHTER NOTICED A SHIMY IN THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. THERE IS SOME SORT OF APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END THAT WAS NOT DETECTED BY THE BODY SHOP. ADDITIONALLY, THE DAY AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP SHE NOTICED THAT THE REAR LEFT TIRE IS ALSO BADLY DAMAGED, PROBABLY FROM THE CAR SPINNING DURING THE ACCIDENT. THE OLD TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SHREADED, SO THERE IS NO OLD PART AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. I HAD HER PARK THE CAR UNTIL WE CAN CONTACT HER INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPORT THE PREVIOUSLY UNDETECTED DAMAGES. MY DAUGHTER WAS HELPED BY A SAN DIEGO COUNTY SHERIFF, BUT HE DID NOT WRITE ANY TYPE OF INCIDENT REPORT. HE ONLY ASKED IF ANYONE WAS INJURED AND IF THERE WAS ANY PROPERTY DAMAGE. SINCE NEITHER HAPPENED, HE DID NOT MAKE A REPORT. MY DAUGHTER CONTACTED HER INSURANCE COMPANY IMMEDIATELY. A&C PAINT AND BODY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO HER APARTMENT THREE DAYS LATER AND TOWED IT TO THEIR FACILITY, WHERE THEY DID THE REPAIRS I HAVE ALREADY DESCRIBED.*AK

REAR TIRE BLEW OUT ON HIGHWAY. FOUND A LUMP STARTING IN SECOND REAR TIRE. PREVIOUSLY I HAD REPLACED THE TWO FRONT TIRES ON 3/24/04 DUE TO LUMPS OR BUBBLES FORMING. ONE OF THESE TIRES STARTED WEARING IN AN ODD WAY AND CAUSED VERY PRONOUNCED VIBRATION. THESE WERE THE OEM TIRES AND AT THAT TIME HAD 37,486 MILES. SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE I HAD NOTICED VIBRATION AND SKIRMYNESS WHILE DRIVING. I VISUALLY INSPECTED THE TIRES AND NOTICED THEY SEEMED OUT OF ROUND AND ODD SHAPED. I PLANNED TO REPLACE THEMM IN A FEW DAYS. I DID NOT THINK AT THE TIME A FAILURE WAS IMMINENT. I WAS WRONG AS THE FAILURE OCCURED TWO DAYS BEFORE I PLANNED TO REPLACE THEM.*AK

I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WHEN APPLING THE BRAKES, WITH THE CAR GOING INTO A SLIDE /SKID AND ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER CAR, GOING AT A SLOW RATE. THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. I WAS TOLD ON A COUPLE OF OCC. THAT IT WOULD COST ME TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE BRAKES, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRENTY. THEY SAID THEY DROVE IT AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN, THEY FOUND THE CAR TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND SAID IT RELATED TO THE CALIBERS ON THE BRAKES. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. I HAVE POSTED MY PRIOR COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. MOST RECENTLY I ATTEMPTED TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. A SIMPLE ENOUGH TASK ONE WOULD THINK. NOT WITH THIS LEMON. THE CAR STARTED, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, THE SHIFT MOVED IN THE R POSITION, HOWEVER THE CAR WAS NOT BUDGING. TURNS OUT THE TRANSMISSION HAD WENT ON MY 2001 CAR. UNACCEPTABLE IN MY OPINION. JUST TO UPDATE EVERYONE, THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE BROKEN IGNITION WIRE, INOPERATIVE HORN AND BROKEN FUEL PUMP THAT I HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED WITH THIS LEMON. WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF AROUND 45 MPH ON A BUSY COLORADO ROADWAY AND THE CAR ALL OF THE SUDDEN STALLED. LOST ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. LUCKILY COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS HAD FAILED. I CALLED NISSAN ON 7/12/2016 AND REPORTED THIS SAFETY ISSUE (REFERENCE NUMBER 22954833). ON 7/14/2016 I TALKED TO [XXX] AT NISSAN AND HE SAID THIS WAS RECALLED IN 2003 AND AN ALREADY CLOSED RECALL. I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS GOING TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT TO NISSAN ENGINEERS DEPARTMENT, BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECENT RECALL ISSUE. I STATED THAT BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING THAT PUT PEOPLE?S LIVES AT RISK. I ASKED THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THIS CAR'S MODEL ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS ARE STILL FAILING. HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW. THE NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] STATED TO ME THAT WITH THE AGE OF THE CAR THIS IS EXPECTED TO HAPPEN WITH THESE PARTS. I STATED TO HIM THAT BECAUSE THE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS ARE STILL FAILING, THEREFORE CAUSING A CAR TO STALL WHILE DRIVING IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPORTED. HE SAID HE WAS NOT GOING TO REPORT IT TO ANYONE. I STATED I WAS GOING TO REPORT IT TO THE NHTSA, BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY NEED TO KNOW THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS FROM THEIR PREVIOUS RECALL. I CHANGED MY OIL ON MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA AND WHEN I REMOVED THE OIL DIPSTICK, THE PLASTIC HANDLE BROKE OFF LEAVING A PIECE OF THE PLASTIC HANDLE AND THE DIPSTICK LODGED INSIDE OF THE METAL TUBE. I HAVE SEARCHED OTHER SITES AND HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OTHER MOTORISTS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT COSTS A LOT OF MONEY FOR A REPAIR SHOP TO REMOVE THE DIPSTICK. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN USING A PLASTIC HANDLE ON AN OIL DIPSTICK.

IN THAT INCIDENT'S, IT WAS A SATURDAY AND NO SERVICE PLACES WERE OPEN. I FOUND ONE & TOWED IT THERE. WHEN HE PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC IT STATED "CRANK SHAFT SENSOR." HE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO HAVE NISSAN FIX IT. I PAID $71.00 TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM MY HOUSE TO THAT SHOP OWNER & THEN ANOTHER $88 TO TOW IT TO NISSAN. I CONTACTED SHANE, THE GM AT WENDLE, ON FRIDAY 2/4; HE IMMEDIATELY SKIRTED AROUND THE ISSUE TRYING TO ASSURE ME THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN MISTYPED IN THE CARFAX REPORT. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT YOU COULD SEE THE MILEAGE PROGRESSION AND IT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT A MISTYPE. I AM NOW LEFT WITH A CAR THAT I NO LONGER AM HAPPY WITH DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT HAS 20,000 MORE MILES THAN I THOUGH AND I CANNOT GET IT REFINANCED. HELLO, I OWN A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 3.5 YEARS AND DURING THAT TIME IT'S HAD AT LEAST 4-5 RECALLS. MOST RECENTLY I TOOK IT IN FOR THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE CASE HOLDER RECALL IN EARLY MARCH. THIS RECALL WAS TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER, I WAS ON THE ROAD SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I THOUGH THAT MAYBE I HAD IT IN GEAR AND I JUST RELEASED THE CLUTCH ON ACCIDENT, BUT IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES ON THAT TRIP. NOW I CONSTANSTLY HAVE THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN ON ME WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN SITTING IN IDLE. I have '01 Nissan Sentra. Over the years I kept having my car auto shut off while driving. My recent incident occurs on 2/17/22 while driving on a freeway at 70mph that left me stranded. I had it towed to the nearest auto mechanics. While the engines shuts down, the Service Engine Soon light came on followed by the Battery Icon and Oil Lamp Icon. In the past I had most if not all my catalytic converters and O2 sensors replaced but the problem persisted. Some mechanics stated it was electrical but offered no solution. I did had an oil changed and battery tested a week earlier but no issue was found. My most recent mechanic checked it out and told me it's not the battery nor the alternator, they're both still good. I had to leave my car over the weekends for a full diagnostic.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 PLUS MILES AN HOUR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CLOGGED AND CAUGHT FIRE CAUSING A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER ONE AND RUINING THE IGNITION COIL FOR THAT CYLINDER. I CONTACTED NISSAN AFTER SEEING ONLINE THAT THE EXACT SAME PART HAS MALFUNCTIONED ON SEVERAL OTHER CARS OF THE EXACT SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR A $89 FEE. EVEN IF I HAD THE 89 DOLLARS TO PAY TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED IT WOULD NOT HAVE PAID IT. I DID NOT USE FAULTY MATERIAL IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE AND FEEL THAT ANY DIAGNOSTIC FEE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABSORBED BY NISSAN NORTH AMERICA SINCE THEY VOLUNTARILY RECALLED THE PART. IT COULD HAVE BURST INTO FLAMES AND IGNITED THE UNUSED FUEL IN CYLINDER ONE KILLING ME AND MY CHILDREN. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO MY VEHICLE IT HAD ALREADY HAD THE PART REPLACED ONCE AND IT STARTED TO FAIL AGAIN AFTER I WAS THE UNLUCKY PERSON TO BUY IT. AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE REPLACED THE HEAD DUE TO A SAND LIKE MATERIAL THAT EATS AWAY THE HEAD GASKET. THIS MATERIAL IS A PRODUCT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CRUMBLING AND BEING SUCKED INTO THE ENGINES CYLINDERS. I HAVE REPLACED COUNTLESS SENSORS AND EVEN THE CARS COMPUTER TO TRY TO SOLVE THE ISSUE. AFTER FIXING THE ISSUE MYSELF AND REMOVING THE SUSPECT PART I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE WAY NISSAN HAS CHOSEN TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUES THAT CONSUMERS OF THEIR PRODUCT HAVE. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT SINCE THE DEALERSHIPS ARE PRIVATELY OWNED THEY CAN CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSIS EVEN IF IT IS TO VERIFY IF THE PREVIOUSLY RECALLED PART IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. THIS COMPLAINT HAS TO DO WITH THE FAILURE OF THE OIL STICK FOR THE 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN FOUR YEARS AND HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT OIL STICKS BREAK IN THAT TIME. THE FIRST TIME THE OIL STICK WAS BROKEN IT WAS EASILY REMOVED FROM THE STEM IT RESTS IN. ON THE LATEST BREAK IT HAS BECOME LODGED INSIDE THE STEM. FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER THE STANDARD FEE MOST MECHANICS AND DEALERSHIPS RANGE FROM $120.00 TO $300.00 FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE OIL STICK. THE PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THE STICK IS THAT IT HAS A COMPLETELY PLASTIC HANDLE THAT EXTENDS FOR A WAYS BEFORE JOINING WITH THE METAL STICK. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE STICK BREAKS WELL ABOVE WHERE IT JOINS WITH THE METAL COMPONENT THEREFORE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE WITH A MAGNET. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IT IS MY FAULT FOR NOT KEEPING AN EYE ON IT. I ASKED THE LADY AT HQ'S, IF I HAD TAKEN MY X IN WITH 60K MILES ON IT AND THEY HAD FOUND THE CRACK WOULD IT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY? SHE TOLD ME NO THEN WENT ON TO TELL ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT IN ON 59999K AND IT WOULD HAD BEEN. I HAD TAKEN IT IN PRIOR TO THE 60K TO WHICH THE DEALER DID NOTHING OR NOTED NOTHING. THEN AFTER FINDING THE TRANS FLUID LEAK I TOOK IT BACK IN WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK IN IT WAS OVER THE 60K. NOW AFTER THE DEALER QUOTED ME 4 DIFFERENT PRICES RANGING FROM 300-1500 DOLLARS ON REPAIRING THE EXACT SAME THING (EXHAUST MANIFOLD). I AM PAYING MORE FOR GAS DUE TO THE LOW MILEAGE FROM THE CRACKED/FAULTY MANIFOLD. I CONSTANTLY SMELL EXHAUST DURING TRAVELING(STOPS). DT: WHILE DRIVING A CHILD CAME IN FRONT OF VEHICLE AND THE OWNER TRIED TO USE THE HORN AND IT DIDN'T WORK. THE OWNER NOTICED ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO THE HORN STOPPED WORKING. DEALER CHARGED 89 DOLLARS FOR DIAGNOSIS, AND REPORTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. DEALER REPORTS THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS PAST WARRANTY, THEN THERE WOULD BE NO FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON THE PART OF NISSAN. OWNER NOTICED OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. MY ENGINE FAILED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING 70 MPHS ON THE FREEWAY, THE VERY DAY AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN REPAIRED FOR YET ANOTHER DEFECT SENSOR. IT WAS A MIRACLE I DID NOT CRASH AND KILL ANYONE INCLUDING MYSELF. EACH AND EVERY TIME I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN, I HAVE REQUESTED IT BE CHECKED FOR A SHORT IN THE WIRING. EACH TIME I WAS TOLD NO. I LATER LEARNED THAR MEANT IF IT DIDN'T SHOW UP ON THE COMPUTER, THEN THEY WOULDN'T LOOK FOR IT SPECIFICALLY. FOLLOWING THE LATEST HAZARD, I GOT IN NISSAN'S FACE. NISSAN FOUND A DEFECT OXYGEN SENSOR THIS TIME. UPON RETESTING THE VEHICLE, THE EMC (THE BRAIN OF THE VEHICLE) WAS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. I WAS ALSO TOLD HAD I DRIVEN THE CAR ANY LONGER, THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WOULD HAVE BLOWN TOO. WELL, THAT EXPLAINS ALL THE LOUSY GAS MILEAGE THIS PAST YEAR. SO, HERE IT IS A WEEK LATER AND MY VEHICLE REMAINS IN THE SHOP WITH A BACK ORDERED EMC WITH NO AVAILABLE STOCK DATE IN SIGHT. I AM RENTING A VEHICLE AND AM RECEIVING VERY LITTLE ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN AS TO GETTING A RENTAL VEHICLE IN THE MEANTIME. I AM QUITE CONCERNED I HAVE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW SPANKING YELLOW LEMON. I AM QUITE CONCERNED THIS VEHICLE, EVEN WITH A NEW EMC, WILL PRODUCE OTHER DEFECTIVE SENSORS ONCE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR FROM THE OLD ONE. THERE ARE 45 SENSORS IN THE VEHICLE AND ONLY 5-10 HAVE BLOWN SO FAR. I AM QUITE CERTAIN OTHERS ARE CLOSE TO FAILURE TOO. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. . I HAVE HAD TO BRING IT IN FOUR TIMES FOR AN INOPERATIVE HORN. I WOULD DISCOVER THAT HORN WAS NOT WORKING, I'D BRING IT IN AND IT WOULD FUNCTION, THEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS WOULD PASS AND AGAIN IT WOULD BE INOPERATIVE. THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE HARNESS, AND IT HAS BEEN WORKING FOR 2 STRAIGHT MONTHS. THIS MIGHT NOT SEEM LIKE A BIG DEAL, BUT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN TWICE FOR A BROKEN IGNITION WIRE. THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS RELEASED TO ME AND TWO DAYS LATER I HAD IT TOWED IN BECAUSE IT WAS DEAD. I HAVE HAD BREAK ISSUES, MY BREAKS WERE APPARENTLY WARPED AND NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.THE LATEST THING TO GO WAS THE FUEL PUMP. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IN THE MIDDLE LANE, DURING RUSH HOUR WHEN THE CAR JUST STOPPED. I HAD NO WHERE TO GO AND WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE. A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. I AM NOW TOLD THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN MY CAR WILL BE FIXED, NOR ARE THEY WILLING TO PROVIDE ME WITH ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION. AM I JUST SUPPOSED TO ACCEPTT THAT ALL OF THIS GOES WRONG WITH MY 2001 CAR? I BOUGHT A NEW CAR SO I WOULD HAVE SAFE AND RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. THIS HAS YET TO HAPPEN. CAR CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE AFTER FOOT IS REMOVED FROM THE PEDAL. OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WAS EASILY MANAGED BY TAPPING THE BRAKE. BROUGHT IN FOR REPAIR AND CARBON BUILD-UP WAS FOUND ON THE THROTTLE AND CLEANED UP. MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS MORE DRAMATIC. I WAS ACCELERATING QUICKLY (4000+ RPM) FROM A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT 4000+ RPM. BRAKING HARD DID NOT STOP THE CAR, NOR DID IT STOP THE CONTINUED ACCELERATION. HAD TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PULL OVER. ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AT 4000+ RPM, UNTIL IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. BROUGHT TO NISSAN SERVICE. THEY CHECKED THROTTLE PLATE AND CABLE BUT FOUND NO PROBLEM, AND CONDITION COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURRED IN THE WEEK SINCE, BUT IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN INTERMITTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE. SHOULD THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM HAVE BEEN FIXED WITH OUT CHARGE? WHAT CAN I DO IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN?
