THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ECM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V527000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V084000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE). THE CONTACT LATER BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE BUT REFUSED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE, EXHAUST FUMES WOULD ENTER THE INTERIOR CABIN WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ECM NEEDED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HAVING THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST CONFIRMED THAT THE ECM WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER THEN ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NON-DRIVABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,500.

ON SEPT 16, 2014, MY 2002 NISSAN SENTRA WOULD NOT START. THINKING IT WAS A BATTERY PROBLEM I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC'S SHOP. A DAY OR SO LATER, THE MECHANICS COULD NOT FIND WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. I HAD THE ALARM WORKED ON RECENTLY AND THE ALARM INSTALLERS WERE NICE ENOUGH TO SWING BY THE SHOP AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT. TURNS OUT THE ALARM WAS NOT THE ISSUE. WHILE TALKING ABOUT THE CAR'S PROBLEM, THE HEAD MECHANIC AND HEAD ALARM INSTALLER KEPT MENTIONING THE WORD "RECALL". NEXT I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, MELLOY NISSAN. A MELLOY MECHANIC SAID THAT THE COMPUTER WAS BAD AND A REPLACEMENT WOULD COST $900. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. I RESEARCHED THE EMC PROBLEM ONLINE. I CALLED NISSAN USA ABOUT THE EMC SINCE IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SENTRAS. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE MY COMPLAINT UNDER CONSIDERATION. ON THE SEPT. 26TH, NISSAN USA SAID THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR HALF OF THE EMC'S COST. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED SHORTLY LATER, SAYING THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD BE $667. I DON'T KNOW IF THE EMC FAILED BECAUSE OF THE EMC BOX'S FOAM CURING (A COMMON PROBLEM COVERED BY WARRANTY) OR IT WAS JUST A BUGGY UNIT (A COMMON PROBLEM NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY). FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE, IT SEEMS EVEN IF THE EMC'S FAILURE IS DUE TO THE FOAM, NISSAN WILL REPLACE THE FOAM, BUT THE OWNER MUST PAY FOR A NEW EMC. BOTH SHOULD BE COVERED. MY CAR'S MILEAGE IS SLIGHTLY OVER 35,000 MILES. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR SHUTOFF. THE RPM'S SHUT TO 0 IN 5TH GEAR. THE BATTERY WAS FINE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT MAKE CONNECTION WITH THE ECM. I NEEDED AN ECM. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR WHICH WAS PERFORMED IN 2004, THAT RECALL WAS ESTABLISHED BECAUSE OF VEHICLES STALLING WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS STILL A SERIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY STATED BECAUSE OF THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD FOR ME. SEARCHING ONLINE IN NISSAN FORUMS I REALIZED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THAT YEAR. TAKATA RECALL. WENT TO DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE RECALLED AIRBAG. THEY INSPECTED THE AIRBAG INFLATOR, SAID IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY DID NOT DO ANY REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT WORK ON THE TAKATA AIRBAG DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE RECALL NOTIFICATION STATING THAT THE NISSAN DEALER WILL REPLACE THE AIR BAG INFLATOR WITH A NEW ONE. *DT VIN AVAILABLE *JB

I WAS NOTIFIED OF AIR BAG RECALL BY NISSAN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY AGREED TO FIX BUT WANTED ME TO RELEASE THEM OF RESPONSIBILITY IF THEY CRACKED MY DASH BOARD DURING THE REPAIR. I REFUSED TO GIVE PERMISSION TO DAMAGE MY VEHICLE. AS INSTRUCTED BY THE DEALERSHIP I CALLED 1800 NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND REPORTED AND THEY ALSO CONFIRMED THEY COULD REPAIR BUT SAID I WOULD HAVE TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY/DURING THE REPAIR. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY IS NOT DAMAGED AND I REFUSE TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE THEY MAY CAUSE.

I WAS MADE AWARE RECENTLY( MARCH 2020) THAT THE CAM SENSOR IN MY CAR IS DEFECTIVE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART IN 2004. AFTER CONTACTING THE NISSAN CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS, THEY INFORM ME THAT THEIR RECORDS SHOW THE RECALL REMEDY WAS SATISFIED IN 2004. I DO NOT REMEMBER BRINGING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NOR DOES THE DEALERSHIP HAVE ANY RECORD THE RECALL WAS SATISFIED.

I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL BUT IT GOT STUCK AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING TO NEW JERSEY FROM MARYLAND GOING NORTH ON 95. WE WERE IN THE LEFT LANE GOING ABOUT 75 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST THROTTLE RESPONSE. MY HUSBAND WAS PRESSING DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH HIS 2002 NISSAN SENTRA SPEC V. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL THROTTLE BODIES REPLACED AS THIS IS WHAT THE COMPUTER IS TELLING THEM THE PROBLEM IS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE DRIVING NORMALLY AT REGULAR POSTED SPEEDS, AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR LOSSES RESPONSE TO PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT NISSAN REGARDING THIS MATTER BUT JUST RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF THE EMAIL. TWO NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE REPLACED THE PART SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT THE SATISFACTORY RESULTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF HE LOSES THROTTLE RESPONSE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND HIM IS NOT AWARE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING AS THE VEHICLE SLOWS, THIS COULD BE A TRAGIC ACCIDENT. DT:AFTER STARTING THE CAR ON MAY 15 2005 IT WAS PUT IN REVERSE AND THE ACCELERATOR WENT UP, RAISING THE RPMS TO 4000. THIS LASTED 3-5 SECONDS. THE CONSUMER PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. THEN, TURNED THE CAR OFF AND T BACK ON. HE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS A ONE TIME EVENT, AND MAYBE SOMETHING THAT MADE THE RPMS TO RISE. . THEN IN JULY 2005 THE CONSUMER WAS SITTING IN THE CAR, AND THEN THE RPMS INCREASED TO 6000 WHILE IT WAS IN PARK. THE CONSUMER SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME, FIVE DAYS LATER, WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE CONSUMER STOPPED TO LET THE OTHER CAR GO, AND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TOOK OFF. THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD, THE RPMS ROSE TO ABOUT 6000, AND THE CAR SPED UP TO 3-4 MPH. THE CONSUMER PUSHED THE BRAKES IN AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO GO FORWARD. THEN T PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, AND WAITED, AND ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS LATER THE VEHICLE STOPPED RACING. I AM WRITING TO YOUR DEPARTMENT WITH RESPECT TO THE FIRESTONE TIRE RECALL. FROM WHAT I GATHER THE RECALL HAS BEEN EXPANDED TO INCLUDE OTHER MODELS OF FIRESTONE TIRES NOT ORIGINALLY INCLUDED IN THE INITIAL RECALL. THEREFORE, I WANTED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION ON MY SITUATION TO DETERMINE IF I WOULD QUALIFY FOR RECALL RELIEF. IN MAR '02, I BOUGHT A NEW NISSAN SENTRA SE-R THAT CAME W/ FIRESTONE FIREHAWK GTA-02 195/55/R16 TIRES. I ALWAYS ROTATE MY TIRES EVERY 2 OIL CHANGES (~7000 MILES) AND CHECK/INFLATE TIRE PSI EVERY FEW MONTHS. IN JAN 05 I WENT TO ALLIED TIRES FOR AN ALIGNMENT. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR, THEY SHOWED ME LARGE SPLITS/CRACKS ALL AROUND THE INNER SIDEWALL OF ALL 4 TIRES. (AT THIS POINT MY CAR HAD ~28000 MILES) THEY SAID IF I DIDN'T GET THE TIRES REPLACED ASAP, I WOULD HAVE A BLOWOUT. NONE OF THEM HAD EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. I HAD ALL 4 TIRES REPLACED AT SEARS SOON AFTER. (IT WAS EST. 10000 MILES OF TREAD LEFT ON THE "FAULTY" TIRES) THE MECHANIC SAID HE ALSO NOTICED THE SPLITTING ON THE "FAULTY" TIRES AND HADN'T SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT EITHER. ON MAY 31, 05, I TOOK THE "FAULTY" TIRES (WHICH I STILL HAVE) TO NISSAN. THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE SPLITTING, AND SAID TO DEAL W/ FIRESTONE. AT FIRESTONE, THE MECHANIC SAID IT LOOKED LIKE I GOT A BAD BATCH OF TIRES WITH THE CAR, BUT THAT HIS COMMENT WAS "OFF THE RECORD" SINCE HE DIDN'T WANT TO BAD MOUTH FIRESTONE. WHEN THE MANAGER CAME OUT, HE BLATANTLY BEAT AROUND THE BUSH, SAYING THAT SINCE THE TIRES WEREN'T ON THE CAR, THEY DIDN'T KNOW IF I WAS TELLING THE TRUTH (IE: SINCE THE TIRES WERE OFF, HE THOUGHT I COULD HAVE PURPOSELY DAMAGED THE TIRES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM, EVEN THOUGH I HAD 3 OTHER COMPANIES AS EYE WITNESSES). HE THEN SAID IF I HAD THE TIRES STILL ON THE CAR, HE WOULD'VE BEEN ABLE TO GIVE ME A PRO-RATED REIMBURSEMENT. I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE ON THE CAR FOR THE MANAGER TO NOTICE THE FAULT IN THEM... IN THE END, I WAS OFFERED NO COMPENSATION FOR THESE FAULTY TIRES, BUT THE MORE IMPORTANT PROBLEM IN MY EYES IS THAT OF SAFETY. I DON'T BELIEVE THESE TIRES ARE SAFE, ESP. THE TRUNK LID ON MY 2002 NISSAN SENTRA GXE IS FREE FALLING AND HAS INJURED MANY. THE DEALER STATES THAT MY TRUNK IS WITHIN NORMAL OPERATION FOR MY VEHICLE. I CONSIDER IT TO BE VERY DANGEROUS. IT HAS FALLEN ON THE TOP OF CHILDREN'S HEAD AND SHOULDERS CAUSING MUCH PAIN. I HAVE INVESTIGATED TO DISCOVER THAT ALL THE TRUNK LIDS OF THE 02 SENTRA'S THAT I TESTED ARE FREE FALLING. THE RACK AND PINION STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY ON OUR 2002 NISSAN SENTRA SE-R WAS REPLACED BY HALL NISSAN OF CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE INTO THE THIS DEALER FOR AN ANNUAL STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. WE INFORMED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CHECK THE STEERING SYSTEM. WE HAD EXPERIENCED PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL . THE MOVEMENT WAS UP AND DOWN IN THE STEERING COLUMN. AFTER THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSPECTED OUR CAR WE WERE TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS THE VIRGINIA SAFETY INSPECTION UNLESS THE RACK AND PINION STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE 2002 NISSAN SENTRA RAN FINE FOR THE FIRST YEAR. THERE WERE NO MAJOR ISSUES CONCERNING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IN 2003 I NOTICED THE TURN SIGNAL WOULD OCCASIONALLY NOT WORK. FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS IT STILL DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY. THE PROBLEM IS VERY INTERMITTENT. IT MAY WORK PROPERLY ONE DAY AND NOT THE NEXT. NORMALLY YOU WILL FLIP THE TURN INDICATOR AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. THEN IF YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IT WOULD START TO WORK. SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT WORK NO MATTER IF YOU TURN THE WHEEL. EVEN WHEN IT DOES WORK THE SIGNAL DOES NOT BLINK AT A NORMAL REPETITION. ON TWO OCCASIONS I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I'M THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED WITH THE DESIGN AND QUALITY OF THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2002 NISSAN ALTIMA. WITHIN 6 MONTHS I'VE NOW SPENT $600 ($300 EACH INCLUDING LABOR) TO REPLACE BOTH HEADLIGHTS ON MY AUTO ALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE A $6 BULB. THERE IS A SEVERE DESIGN FLAW AND SHOWS LACK OF QUALITY PRODUCED BY NISSAN. APPARENTLY NISSAN IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ONCE THE PAPERWORK IS SIGNED AND THE DEAL IS DONE ON THE SALE OF THEIR AUTOS. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURES BEGAN TO RECUR AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE MELTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF AN ENGINE RECALL AND THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE INTERMITTENTLY. NEXT MY HEADLIGHT BEGAN TO BLOW A BULB EVERY 2,0000-3,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED IT. THIS OCCURRED IN 2005. MID- JULY TO LATE NOVEMBER 2006 MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL IN COLD/WARM WEATHER. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. MY CAR STARTED TO CONSUME OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE IN APRIL 2007. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER YET AGAIN AND I WAS TOLD IT HAD INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE EXTERNAL COMPONENTS. I WAS QUOTED $4,000-$4,200 FOR A REPLACEMENT ENGINE. I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN MY REPAIR WORK AND OIL CHANGES AT NISSAN DEALERS AND NOW WHEN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS GONE I AM TOLD I NEED TO BUY AN ENGINE. THIS IS UNFAIR AND COSTLY. SEVERE ENGINE FAILURE. I BOUGHT MY 2002 NISSAN SENTRA SPEC-V WITH ONLY 7,000 MILES ON IT AND THOUGHT I HAD A GREAT CAR. THANK GOODNESS I OPTED FOR THE EXTRA 100,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY CAR'S ENGINE EXPERIENCED MASSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AROUND 60,000 AND I NOTICED THE WHOLE TIME I OWNED THE CAR THAT THE OIL WAS ALWAYS LOW EACH TIME I CHANGED IT. I USED ONLY MOBIL 1 FULL SYN EVERY 5,000 MILES. THE ENGINE FAILED 3,000 OVER THE STANDARD 60K POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I FOUGHT WITH NISSAN FOR 1 MONTH WHILE THEY KEPT MY CAR UNTIL I PROVIDED OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS. ONCE I PROVIDED THEM THEY CHANGED THE COMPLETE ENGINE WHICH TOTALED $8,500 AND MORE THAN THE CAR WAS WORTH ANYMORE. FURTHER FOR ABOUT 70,000 THE CAR HAD EXTENDED CRANK PROBLEMS AND WERE SEVERE IN HOT OR EXTREME COLD WEATHER. THE CAR WOULD TAKE 20 SECONDS OR LONGER TO CRANK OVER WHILE PUMPING THE GAS. AFTER MY 3RD COMPLAINT AT MY 3RD NISSAN DEALER THEY FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM AND PUT IN A NEW FUEL PUMP AND SENSOR. THE CAR HAS 98,000 AND 36,000 MILES AFTER THE NEW ENGINE. I AM THINKING OF GETTING RID OF IT BEFORE MORE TROUBLE HAPPENS BEYOND MY 100K WARRANTY. *TR

AFTER PURCHASING A NISSAN SENTRA GXE 2002 -- ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD TO PAY ALMOST 300 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR THERMOSTAT--OF COURSE THIS REPAIR AND THE NEXT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED--AFTER 5 MONTHS BOTH ENGINE BELTS HAD TO BE REPLACED--ANOTHER 175 BUCKS. NOW I HEAR A SUSPICIOUS CREAKING FROM THE REAR END--I CAN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT WHAT THAT IS. OH--I ALMOST FORGOT--ONE DAY AFTER TAKING THE CAR HOME I HAD TO REPAIR A REAR TIRE AND THE PAINT IS PEELING AND FADING. *JB

2002 NISSAN SENTRA EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH SHUTTING DOWN AS WELL AS FAULTY BRAKES.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE SERVICE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. REFER TO RECALL CAMPAIGN# 03V455000. THE BRAKES WERE FAULTY, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY DUE TO LEAKING AND WOULDN'T CHARGE, THE FAN BELT HAD CRYSTALLIZED, NOISE HAD COME FROM THE ENGINE DUE TO THE RADIATOR, THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION OF THE COMPUTER WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FLOOD WITH GAS. *SC

I WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM 12/03. I FOLLOWED UP AND HAD IT REPAIRED OR REPLACED , AT THIS POINT I'M UNCERTAIN WHAT HAPPENED. TODAY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS INOPERABLE AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY 800.00 TO REPLACE IT. THIS IS A DEVICE THAT IS APART OF THE ENGINE EXHAUST RECALL THAT WAS DONE IN '03. BECAUSE 2 YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE RECALL WAS DONE, I AM NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I AM FORCED TO MAKE ANOTHER COSTLY REPAIR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE NUMEROUS RECALLS AND REPAIRS ON THE "NORTH AMERICAN CAR OF THE YEAR!" *NM

I HIT A CURB AND MY WHEEL BROKE OFF LEAVING JUST THE CENTER BOLTED TO THE CAR. THE TIRE WAS NOT DAMAGED. AT THAT POINT THE VEHICLE WAS PRETTY MUCH UNCONTROLLABLE AND THE TIRE AND REMAINDER OF THE WHEEL CONTINUED INTO TRAFFIC. THE TIRE SHOP INDICATED THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THE CAR APPEARS TO HAVE SUSTAINED ONLY POSSIBLY SOME ALIGNMENT ISSUES. THIS AND THE LACK OF DAMAGE TO THE TIRE SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT THE IMPACT WAS NOT THAT SEVERE, YET THERE WAS THE COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE WHEEL. I HAVE A PHOTO OF THE NOW TWO PIECES OF THE WHEEL. THE CAR IS NOT JUST AN SER MODEL SENTRA BUT A SER SPEC V WHICH INCLUDES 17" WHEELS INSTEAD OF THE 16S ON THE SER. I HAVE NOT SUBMITTED ANYTHING TO NISSAN AS I PREVIOUSLY HAD NOTIFIED THEM OF SOME FREQUENTLY-WARPING BRAKE ROTORS AND THEY DISCOUNTED MY CLAIMS INDICATING I WAS DRIVING TO AGGRESSIVELY. HOWEVER, THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED IN SUBSEQUENT MODELS SINCE THE 2002 INTRODUCTION OF MY CAR. *JB

THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY PARTS ON THIS ALTIMA ARE DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. PRIOR TO REPLACEMENT THE LIGHTS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. BUT THE ACTUAL DEFECT CAUSED BY THE LIGHTS BEING TOO HOT AND THEN MELTING THE PLASTIC WAS NOT BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION UNTIL EXPENSES HAD BEEN INCURRED ON REPLACEMENT OF THE LIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES. WHENTHE LEFT SIDE WAS PROPERLY DIAGNOSED FINALLY, THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER DENIED REPLACEMENT AND REFUSED TO ATTEMPT ANY SOLUTION. DUE TO THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE LIGHTS AND THE LEFT HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY PART, I HAD TO WAIT TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE. THE PARTS COMPONENTS FOLKS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. MORE IMPORTANTLY NISSAN SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. SEVERAL MECHANICS INCLUDING ONE SERVICE PERSON AT THE NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAD SEEN SEVERAL ALTIMAS WITH THIS PROBLEM BUT UNTIL THERE WAS A RECALL THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO.*AK

I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT TODAY AND THE BRAKES NOT WORKING HAD A LOT TO DO WITH IT. AS I NOTICED A CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I APPLIED MY BRAKES ONLY TO FIND THAT IT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AND WENT TO THE FLOOR SO I TRIED AGAIN (STILL ABOUT TO HIT ANOTHER CAR) AND THEY WORKED FINE. I AM WAITING TO HEAR IF THERE WAS A FAILURE WITH THEM, BUT THE FACT THAT THEY WORKED THE SECOND TIME LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY WILL FIND NOTHING WRONG.....I KNOW THERE ARE OTHER BRAKE COMPLAINTS WITH NISSANS, SO I HOPE THIS WARNING HELPS. ALSO, I WAS GOING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 50MPH AND WHEN I HIT THE CAR AHEAD, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IT WAS A FRONTAL HIT, MORE TO THE RIGHT SIDE, AND NEITHER AIR BAG WORKED. NO INJURIES BUT MY NECK AND BACK HURT. I HAVE JUST REPAIRED SO MUCH ON MY SENTRA, AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE PROBLEMS I HAVE INCURRED WITH NISSAN, WE'LL SEE IF I EVER BUY ANOTHER.*AK

INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND SHIFTING ANY GEAR THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE 10 TIMES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK THERE WERE NUMEROUS PROBLES WITH ENGINE STALLING, THE MAF HAD TO BE REPLACE NUMEROUS TIMES, THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE REVERSE LIGHT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. (THE WIRING HARNESS ALSO REPEATED INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS) THE ENGINE WOULD STALL WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED AND WHEN IN NEUTRAL IDLING AND WHEN SHIFTING THE GEARS. CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A SPEED OF 60 MPH A WHISTLING NOISE COULD BE HEARD FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS AT LEAST TEN DIFFERENT TIMES AND THEY ALL TOLD HIM THAT THE NOISE WAS NORMAL WITH THIS VEHICLE TYPE . THE CONSUMER SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER A FEW TIMES BUT CURRENTLY THEY DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND THE DEALER REPLACED ALL THE ELECTRIC CABLES. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AT 10000 MILES AND AT 20000 MILES THE ROTORS HAD TO BE RESURFACED. *AK *NLM *JB

I OWN A 2002 SENTRA SPEC V AND THIS IS MY SECOND ONE IN 10 MONTHS THAT HAS FAILED TO PERFORM AS IT SHOULD. THE CURRENT VEHICLE HAS HAD 1 NEW ENGINE, 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD, 2 WINDOW REGULATORS, 2 NEW WINDOWS, THREE NEW DOOR SPEAKERS, TWO SHIFT KNOBS, 1 TIMING BELT TENSIONER, 1 THIRD BRAKE LIGHT, AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING IT'S THIRD ENGINE. CAR CONSUMES OIL AT A RAPID RATE OF 2 QUARTS PER 1200 MILES. TRIED AN INFORMAL RESOLUTION AND NISSAN REJECTED. DEALER AGREES THE CAR SHOULD BE BOUGHT BACK. SYMPTOMS THAT I HAVE, LEAD TO POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE AND IS BEING ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. I WAS SENT HOME IN A VEHICLE THAT WAS UNSAFE AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO FIX THIS LAST TIME AND WERE DENYING THE CAR HAD ANY PROBLEM. I FOUGHT A LONG HARD BATTLE JUST TO GET IT FIXED. *NLM

HAD TO GO TO THE DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. FIRST TIME THE LIGHT ON THE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS STICKING. TOOK MY DEALER A 3 MONTHS! TO GET A NEW ONE IN. THEN MAYBE A FEW WEEKS LATER WHILE IM DRIVNING THE WHOLE THING JUST FEL OUT OF THE CEILING NEARLY HITTING ME IN THE HEAD. IT WAS REPLACED AGAIN, PART IN STOCK THANK GOD. THIS HAPPENED TWICE BUT IM PUTTING THE MORE RECENT DATE. THE FIRST WAS 12/14/01 WHEN I TOOK IT IN. 3 DAYS AFTER I GOT MY CAR. IT WAS FIXED 4/11/02. THEN IT FELL OUT OF THE CELIING 7/29/02
