The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after multiple attempts with an unknown red warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact also stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart, and the contact had the vehicle towed to her residence. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V579000 (Electrical System) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that her vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN SENTRA. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL WAS FAULTY AND THE ECM WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE DROP IN VOLTAGE CAUSED BUT THE FAULTY BATTERY TERMINAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V555000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

THE AC/HEATER STOPPED WORKING AFTER MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHEN IN USE. AFTER 4 DAYS OF HEARING THIS NOISE OFF AND ON, IT FINALLY WENT COMPLETELY OUT WITH FUMES. MY CD PLAYER ALSO STOPPED WORKING. I'VE HAD MY CAR 7 YRS., BOUGHT IT NEW, AND MAINTAINED UPKEEP. WHAT HAPPENED? NEED ANSWERS.

WHILE DRIVING APPROX 30 MPH THE AUTOMATIC WINDOWS AND LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE BATTERY DIED WHILE IN THE DRIVEWAY, AFTER CHANGING THE BATTERY THE VOLTAGE SPIKE CAUSED THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE TO FAIL. THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE OWNER THAT THIS VEHICLE'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 80,767 MILES.

Involved in a motor vehicle t-bone collision. Driver airbag deployed but the panel did not fully come off. Bottom section of the airbag/horn cover came off. Top section did not separate from the rest of the wheel.

Driver airbag randomly went off while driving down the road. Did NOT hit anything, no potholes, or anything that could have set the airbag off. Additionally, the airbag was extremely hot when it went off and burned the drivers arms and face.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, AND SLOWING TO MAKE A TURN, THE CAR WAS STILL IN MOTION WHEN THE ENGINE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF, AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR SHIFTER TO PARK AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE ISSUE MENTIONED ABOVE, THE CAR STARTED FOR A BRIEF SECOND, THEN WOULD NOT RESTART AND NISSAN FOUND THE ISSUE TO BE THE ECM THAT WAS DAMAGED BY THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. THIS ALSO MADE SENSE AS TO WHY WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO BUY NEW BATTERIES EVERY 1-2 YEARS, WHICH CAUSED ISSUES WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES.THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GAINESVILLE NISSAN LOCATED AT (3915 N MAIN ST, GAINESVILLE, FL 32609) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH AN ECM FAILURE. STARTED BACK IN THE BEGINNING OF 2019. I NOTICED THAT THE OIL HAS BEEN GOING DOWN AND NO EXTERNAL LEAK. I HAVE TO PUT 1/2 A QUART OF OIL A WEEK INTO THE ENGINE AT THIS POINT. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO RESOLVE FROM NISSAN.

I OWN THE SR TRIM WITH THE 2.0 LITRE ENGINE, I TOO EXPERIENCED THE VALVE KNOCKING AND IT WOULD TRIGGER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO A NEAR BY NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THIS WAS AT 75,000 MILES. ON 12/12/2018 WITH NO WARNING THE ENGINE THROUGH A ROD ON THE LOWER PORTION OF THE ENGINE. I WAS DRIVING 30 MPH I HEARD A RATTLE AND A THUMP, EVERYTHING WENT DEAD ON THE VEHICLE.

CAR STALLS WHILE IN MOTION. USUALLY THIS IS WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN OR WHEN I HAVE COME TO A STOP. IT STARTS RIGHT UP AGAIN BUT SOMETIMES WILL STALL IMMEDIATELY AFTER RESTARTING MULTIPLE TIMES. SOMETIMES IT WILL STALL MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T STALL FOR A WEEK OR MORE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PREVIOUS RECALLS BUT IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM.

NOW MY POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CABLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (INVOICE NOT YET ISSUED AS CAR IS STILL IN THE POSSESSION OF THE SERVICE STATION OF M'LADY NISSAN IN CRYSTAL LAKE, IL). ISSUE WITH THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE KNOCK SENSOR SENDING WRONG INFORMATION TO THE ECU CAUSING THE ENGINE TO ADJUST TIMING. I'VE GONE THROUGH 3 CATALYTIC CONVERTERS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. NISSAN SAYS THEY'RE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND KNOW OF NO FIX. GOING THROUGH FORUMS, IT APPEARS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP ENGINE FROM OVER COMPENSATING THE TIMING IS TO ISOLATE THE KNOCK SENSOR FROM THE ENGINE WITH A RUBBER O RING. I HAVE DONE THE REPAIR, BUT CAN ONLY USE PREMIUM FUEL OR RISK CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. IT ONLY APPEARS TO HAPPEN TO THE 2007 TO 2012 SE-R SPEC-V (MANUAL TRANSMISSION). I HAVE REPLACED ALL WIRING HARNESSES, ECU, SENSORS AND EVERYTHING ELSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. IT TENDS TO HAPPEN AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF TURNING CAR ON. GOES AWAY SOMETIMES AND REAPPEARS SUDDENLY. ENGINE BUCKS AND CONVERTER TURNS BRIGHT RED. HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2018 AND IS RECORDED ONLINE FORUMS AS FAR BACK AS 2008. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN SENTRA. AT VARIOUS TIMES, WHILE APPROACHING A STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABRUPTLY SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT IT WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT CALLED BENTON NISSAN OF HOOVER (1640 MONTGOMERY HWY, HOOVER, AL 35216, (205) 938-6103) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION GEAR CONTROL WAS LOCKED IN THE P POSITION. THE RELEASE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PLACE THE CAR INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. HAD TO HAVE A NEW GEAR CONTROL ASSEMBLY ORDERED AND REPLACE THE EXISTING ONE. THE CAR WAS ONLY 117,000 MILES ON IT. THE COST FOR PARTS AND LABOR WERE $992 DOLLARS.

I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN AND I STEPPED ON THE GAS, THE CAR MADE A NOISE AND JERKED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE FROM THERE. I COULDN'T EVEN SHIFT TO ANY OTHER GEAR. THE CAR WAS STUCK IN A NEUTRAL POSITION, SO I WAS ABLE TO PUSH IT OFF TO THE SIDE. AFTER GETTING A TOW TO THE NEAREST SHOP, THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT NISSAN HAD BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION. (CVT) AND THEY EVEN EXTENDED THE TRANS WARRANTY TO 120K. (I HAVE 144K ON THE CAR) I DID CONTACT NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY WOULD MAKE A SMALL EXCEPTION. THEY TOLD ME TO HAVE A NISSAN DEALER CONFIRM THE CVT WAS BAD. I DID SO AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS BAD. AFTER I REPORTED BACK TO NISSAN THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY. THE COST TO GET IT REPLACED IS ABOUT $4200

CAR WILL STOP ACCELERATING NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL. WHEN THIS OCCURS CAR WON'T GO OVER 45-50 MPH. HAS HAPPENED ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, ON THE HIGHWAY, AND USUALLY 'CORRECTS' ITSELF WHEN I'M ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE BATTERY IS LEAKING. ABOUT A YEAR AGO MY BATTERY WAS LEAKING BADLY AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT. ON FRIDAY MY HUSBAND WAS CHECKING THE OIL AND HE SAW THE BATTERY LEAK AGAIN. IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS CORRODED. HE CLEANED BUT IT IS STILL LEAKING.

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

I JUST PURCHASED MY 2010 NISSAN SENTRA USED FROM REPUTABLE CAR DEALERSHIP 3/4/16. ON 7/10/2016 MY BATTERY DIED AND WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND COULD NOT BE RECHARGED. COULD NOT GET TO CRANK. USED JUMPER BOX TO CHECK BATTERY WAS NOT COMPLETELY DEAD. WE PUSHED VEHICLE BACK INTO PARKING PLACE AND LET BATTERY CHARGE. CAR WOULD START BUT NOT CATCH. FEW DAYS LATER BATTERY COMPLETELY DEAD. READ ABOUT RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH MY VEHICLE. LOOSE POSITIVE CABLE TERMINAL CAUSING DROP IN VOLTAGE ESSENTIALLY DAMAGING ECM. AS PER NISSAN'S-USA RECOMMENDATIONS I TOWED MY CAR FOR EXTENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC INVESTIGATIONS AT MARRAZI NISSAN, IN NAPLES FL ON FEBRUARY THE 21ST. NISSAN -USA DID NOT SEND ME A COPY OF THE DETAILED TECHNICAL DIAGNOSTIC REPORT THAT MY CAR WAS SUBJECTED TO FOR THE PAST 3 WEEKS. CLEARLY THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED SINCE THE 5 FEET SKID MARK ON THE SIDEWALK IS VISIBLE 'CHECK THE PICTURES POSTED. THE SHOE WAS NARROWER THAN THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATION PEDAL, SO THIS DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. Driving and all the sudden went from 20mph to not even 5mph was able to limp it to a mechanic who said the trans cvt was most likely the problem didnt know nissans has that issue of a fail safe.. thankfully wasn't on a busy road going 80. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A ONE-TIME,ONLY-THING, BUT FELT I WANTED TO MENTION IT. MY MOTHER DRIVES A 2010 NISSAN SENTRA, BUILT ABOUT 2/10 IT HAS NEVER BEEN SERVICED BY THE DEALER EXCEPT FOR 'INCLUDED' OIL AND FILTER CHANGES, AS PART OF THE NEW CAR 'SELL' I TOOK THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL OFF, TO ROTATE THE TIRES AND, SINCE I HAVE REPLACED CONTROL ARMS, AND CV AXLES MYSELF IN THE PAST, LOOKED AROUND. THE 32 MM SPINDLE NUT WAS LOOSE ENOUGH TO TURN BY HAND, THE ORIGINAL COTTER-PIN (PAINTED BLACK WHILE THE CAR WAS BUILT) WAS ORIGINAL-PROPERLY INTACT. I CONSULTED MY TECHNICAL MANUAL AND IT SAID THAT THIS 32 MM SPINDLE NUT IS USUALLY TORQUED TO 92 FOOT-POUNDS-NOT FINGER TIGHT. IN FAIRNESS AS I WRITE THIS-TO LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED-AND TO THE MANUFACTURERS DEFENSE-THE CAR DID HIT A CURB ON THAT SIDE-AND THE TIRE BLEW-IT WAS REPLACED BY ETD TIRE SERVICE IN NJ. BUT THAT COTTER PIN IS ORIGINAL-NEVER REMOVED. SO A SOCKET COULD NOT HAVE BEEN PUT ON IT TO LOOSEN IT FROM THE ORIGINAL TORQUE SETTING. UNLESS THE SHOCK OF THE TIRE IMPACT JARRED IT LOOSE? KNOCKED THE WHEEL BEARING AND LOOSENED THE SPINDLE NUT? EITHER WAY-I AM GLAD I SPOTTED THIS. I WONDER IF THIS TORQUE SPECIFICATION IS ADEQUATE? 92 FOOT LBS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, AND WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE. SHE THEN SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND CHECKED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF THE WHEELS WERE STRAIGHT, THINKING MAYBE THE WHEELS WERE LOCKING THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE AGAIN, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE, SHE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AGAIN AND TRIED TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED BACKWARDS. SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND CONSEQUENTLY, SHE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE AND A GROCERY CART. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT A HIGH SPEED. SHE FINALLY TURNED THE KEY OFF AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DID INFORM THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 7,000. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONSUMER STATED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE FORWARD. UPDATED EVOQ 02/04/11. *JB UPDATED 12/11/2011 *CN STATUS UPDATE. 06/14/11 THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM IS STILL ON GOING. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN THE MORNINGS, FROM SITTING OVERNIGHT, THE RPM'S INCREASED TO 500, WITH THE SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT OF THE SHIFT LEVER FROM PARK. THE DEALER FAILED TO MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS EVEN WITH SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. THE APPOINTMENT FOR RECALL REPAIR WAS MADE TWO WEEKS AGO AND WAS CONFIRMED TWICE THAT THEY HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS. ON JULY 20, 2010, I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN I WAS REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FORCE OF THE CRASH WAS SUCH THAT THE REAR OF THE CAR I WAS DRIVING SUSTAINED SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS IN DAMAGE. THE FORCE ALSO, PROPELLED ME INTO THE CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. THIS OTHER CAR SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THEIR BUMPER TO DISLODGE IT FROM ITS SUPPORTS AND THROW THEIR REAR WINDOW OFF TRACK. THERE IS NO PLACE IN THE REPAIR BILL THAT STATED THAT THE AIRBAG WAS RESET BECAUSE IT FAILED TO DEPLOY. GIVEN THE FACT THAT THE REAR CRUMPLE ZONE WAS DESTROYED, AND THE REAR QUARTER PANELS WERE REPLACED, THIS CAR IS RENTED BY BUDGET UNDER THE GUISE OF IT BEING SAFE. THE PAPERWORK I RECEIVED FROM BUDGET ALSO STATES THAT THE FEATURES OF THIS NISSAN SENTRA (2010) IS FRONT, REAR AND SIDE AIRBAGS. SINCE ALL OF THE REAR OF THE CAR WAS DESTROYED IT CAN BE SAFELY ASSUMED THAT THE AIRBAG SENSOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRIGGERED. IF BOTH FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR DEFINITELY FROM THE FORCE OF MY CAR BEING PROPELLED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. BUDGET RENTED THIS CAR AS BEING A "SAFE" CAR WITH THIS NISSAN SAFETY EQUIPMENT WHEN IT CLEARLY IS NOT. *TR
