Imminent catastrophic engine failure on 2018 Nissan Titan. The engine has developed severe cylinder wall scuffing and loss of compression (150psi vs 264psi spec) on multiple cylinders. This defect can cause loss of power and potential stalling at highway speeds, presenting a safety risk. The failure matches Nissan TSB NTB19-057 (knock/scuffing). Despite a perfect maintenance history, Nissan is denying warranty coverage by claiming there was no oil change service record because the maintenance was not done at a Nissan dealership. The local Nissan dealership confirmed the issue matches the TSB and an independent inspection confirmed the defect is mechanical (piston/cylinder clearance).

1. Turbo Actuator / Dealer is currently replacing the defective part. 2. When this part fails, you lose throttle control and acceleration capabilities. This part failed on me at highway speeds, and I had to drift over several lanes of high-speed traffic. I was unable to control the speed of my vehicle, with no ability to accelerate. 3. Not sure if they duplicated or are replacing the part solely by the check engine code of P00AH DTC (Check engine code). 4. It is a known issue with Nissan, and they have extended warranty coverage for 2016 and 2017 model year Titans with the diesel motor, but have refused to address it with the 2018 model, even with the same symptoms and DTC. 5.No, when the failure occurred, the check engine light came on, and the truck lost power. Occurred around September 25, 2025, mileage is 61,489. A claim was filed with Nissan North America under case # 55882533, and they have denied to cover the repair.

Engine failure. On rural highway with recreational traffic, engine started rattling, within 5 seconds the engine shut off, luckily I was able to get on the shoulder. My truck is currently at a repair facility 300 miles from my home. Waiting on information from shop and extended warranty company. No warning lights whatsoever.

My 2018 Nissan Titan has suffered two engine failures within two years, with fewer than 37,000 miles on the vehicle. Despite following all scheduled preventive maintenance, the engines failed catastrophically. One of these failures occurred with my family in the vehicle, placing their safety at serious risk. Details: The first engine failure happened at approximately [30,000], and the second at around [37,000], both requiring full engine replacements. These were not minor issues — they were sudden, complete losses of engine power. The second failure was especially dangerous, occurring while driving with my family onboard. Despite clear signs of a major defect or systemic issue, Nissan has refused to take responsibility, treating these catastrophic events as if they are routine, isolated failures. I followed all required maintenance schedules, and the vehicle was well cared for. Nissan’s lack of accountability is unacceptable and deeply disappointing. Based on this experience and their failure to stand behind their product, I will not purchase another Nissan vehicle and cannot recommend the brand to others. I am submitting this report to urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue as a potential safety and manufacturing defect that could affect more owners and put more families at risk.

I was in need of medical attention and could not move. The vehicle vehicles, SOS system was unresponsive and ineffective due to the microphone, not working while trying to communicate with the emergency services they were unable to hear me subsequently ending the call under the impression the call was made accidentally. In other cases, this malfunction could mean the difference between life or death.

The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, several unknown warning lights started to illuminate off and on. The contact then stated that while the vehicle was in the idle position, the RPMS revved, increased, and decreased continuously. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical harness needed to be replaced. The battery and accelerator pedal was replaced. However, the dealer declined to repair the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V495000 (Electrical System) though the VIN was included, and stated that the harness tampered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

Transmission failed while driving. Placing my family and others in an unsafe predicament. This seems to be a common problem with Nissan transmission. A quick search on the internet show almost all cvt models do this from this company. How is there only a partial recall on some models?
Oct 31, 2025
Erratic shifting. As an example, while attempting to pass at highway speeds, the transmission will not downshift responsively (or downshift to low gears/high rpm) leading driver to abandon the pass due to time lag, lack of confidence and power gain loss/stress. Other examples, this 7speed transmission will rev spike at low gears like it was slipping or confused, then it corrects itself. If you have cruise control enabled, the transmission seems to downshift on minor hill climbs, which is not something a normal driver would do. Overall, this transmission and TCM have had issues and recalls in the year prior to this model and in my opinion the flaws continue to exist and need a recall.

My Nissan has 35 thousand miles on it it use it as a pleasure vehicle. I was driving the other day and it started shifting really high motor racing loud and not really going anywhere. It was like the transmission was slipping. It had never done this before. I thought it was a isolated incident but the next few days going to get gas and groceries (17 miles one way) it did it again this time starting in low gear the tachometer raced up to 5 -6 thousand rpm before it shifted and when it hit 2gear it did it again and 3rd gear all the time acting like the transmission was slipping. I read on some sites that this model has this problem and nobody seems to want to take accountability for this problem. I paid 33thousand dollars for this truck and it isn’t even broken in but it is broken! So help me what should I do I ask you first so you can give me guidance! Thanks Dennis Nash

I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR STARTED ROLLIN BACKWARDS. SECOND DAY PARKED IT AGAIN AT NIGHT AND WHEN I WOKE UP THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED DOWN AT THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ACCORDING TO THEM NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I WENT ON MY OWN AND DID THREE PARKING TESTS AND EVERY TIME IT ROLLED BACKWARDS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. I FILMED THE INCIDENT AND BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. AT THAT TIME THEY KEPT THE TRUCK FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THEY HAD A SPECIALIST FROM CORPORATE NISSAN COME IN AND HIS FINDINGS WERE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE AND THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THAT DOESN'T SOLVE THE ISSUE OF THE VEHICLE ROLLING BACKWARDS WHILE PARKED.I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 2 1/2 YEARS AND NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW. SNOW IS NOT A NEW SITUATION BECAUSE I LIVE IN UPSTATE NY. IT JUST STARTED ON 1/1/21 AND IT HASN'T STOPPED ROLLING BACKWARDS. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT NISSAN IS NOT ADDRESSING. I DO HAVE THE VIDEOS BUT I DO NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO UPLOAD.

I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAY THEY FIND NOTHING. I HAVE FOUND 20 PLUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING FROM OTHER CONSUMERS. THIS TIME MY TRUCK IS NOW ON DAY 20 AT THE DEALER. WITH THIS TRUCK DYEING UPON ENTERING INTERSECTIONS AND PASSING LANES, SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. I BOTH THIS NEW, MY FIRST COMPLAINT WAS IN JANUARY OF 2109 AT 242 MILES, NOW 11 MONTHS LATER IT ONLY HAS 3300 MILES ON IT BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM PERSISTS AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY GOING TO CREATE AN ACCIDENT SITUATION. THE FAULTS OCCUR WHEN TURNING ONTO A RAMP, PULLING INTO AN INTERSECTION, OR MANEUVERING INTO THE PASSING LANE. I HAVE SIGNED LETTERS FROM TWO PASSENGERS IN HAND WHO HAVE NOT ONLY EXPERIENCED IT FIRST HAND, THEY WILL NO LONGER RIDE IN THE TRUCK AS WELL AS OVER 20 CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FROM COMPLAINT.COM FOR THE SAME MATTER

Gas spilling out when refilling. Fuel tank had been whistling from beginning ownership in 2020 but no problem refilling. Most recently however gas will quickly overflow when attempting to fill. This has occurred several times recently, but it was never an issue before. Spillage is not dependent on tank volume. Spillage occurs when low and/ or mostly filled. I have to trickle gas from pump in order to fill, but this takes quite a while to put in several gallons. If I attempt to fill normally gas will come gushing out after a few seconds.

Component Turbocharger, power train Safety vehicle would not restart so was stranded on highway Unknown if others have had similar issues Components have not been examined at this time but are available Warnings, 1st check engine, 2nd power reduced, 3rd engine was dead Going uphill on the interstate, the check engine light came on. I then observed the turbo boost climbing to 30 PSI, dark smoke coming out of the exhaust, and white smoke. I was attempting to pull over while this happened. When I got to the shoulder of the road , the vehicle was disabled, and coolant was pouring out of the overflow onto the ground. The vehicle needed to be towed to Great Falls, where it is awaiting repair. Vehicle is still not running at this time

While driving on Interstate 20 at a 75 mph speed in traffic, the truck began a loud knocking noise and the engine shut down. After fighting the dead truck off the roadway from the highway speeds and avoiding traffic, I was able to get the truck safely stopped. Upon attempting to restart the engine, the starter caught on fire. I was able to get the fire extinguished with minimal damage. The truck was towed by a wrecker to my home. I replaced the starter and inspected the wiring harness for fire damages. The truck did restart after sitting for several days, and the knock which was heard on the roadway the day of the failure was excessive. After other checks and inspections, the crankshaft was found to be broken in half causing loud knocking. This is a catastrophic failure with a monetary replacement of approximately $20,000-$30,000.

I CANNOT MAKE CALLS ON MY HANDS FREE BECUSE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TCU. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY WANT THOUSANDS TO FIX IT. I placed my 2018 truck in park and left it running. Once I had retrieved my items from the truck, I stepped onto the running board and pushed the button to turn the truck off. It suddenly lunged forward, throwing me to the driveway. The truck proceeded to roll down my driveway, rolling over my foot, and across the street; hitting my neighbor's van. I sustained multiple injuries from being thrown to the driveway, my truck's front end was severely damaged, and my neighbor's van sustained damages. I feel all of this happened due to the recall of the 2020-2021 Nissan Titan for a roll away issue. I am out of pocket for deductibles to get my truck repaired and had to use my insurance to pay the claim for my truck and the damaged van. I feel this all due to a defect in the 2018 Nissan Titan Crew Max, that is evident in the recall of the 2021-2022 Nissan Titan.

I BOUGHT THE TRUCK BRAND NEW ON 7/16/2018. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM DEALERSHIP AND NEXT DAY ON SMOOTH HIGHWAY BETWEEN 60MPH - 80MPH YOU CAN FEEL IT SHAKING. YOU CAN WATCH THE PASSENGER SEAT SHAKE AS IF ON A UNLOADED WASHING MACHINE. EVEN WITH A PASSENGER THEY NOTICED THEY SHAKE TOO. IT IS A VERY NOTICEABLE SHAKE ESPECIALLY AROUND 72MPH, AS IT SEEMS LIKE A WHEEL UNBALANCED OR ALIGNMENT IS NOT RIGHT. I BROUGHT TRUCK BACK INTO THE DON DAVIS NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON 7/17/18 BUT THE DEALERSHIP JUST SHRUGGED IT OFF SAYING IT MIGHT BE A FLAT SPOT IN THE TIRE AND DID NOTHING. TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT FOR A DEW HUNDRED MILES. THIS IS A PRETTY BAD SHAKE WHEN DRIVING WHICH I HAVE NEVER SEEN ON OTHER BRAND NEW TRUCKS.

At highway speed of 65 MPH, passenger-rear tire started to make slight thumping sound. After a few minutes, it became much louder. I pulled off the road to investigate and found that treads were completely delaminating from tire. Tire was inflated to 74 psi and they have always been properly maintained. Only 24,000 miles on tire (vehicle purchased new in Feb, 2019). No injuries but had I not pulled over right away, there is no doubt that a blowout would have occurred with potentially devastating consequences. The vehicle is a 2018 Nissan Titan XD, Platinum Reserve, purchased at Baxter, Nissan of Bellevue, Nebraska.

While Driving in normal Driving conditions, The Auto at 30 mph will Rev the RPMS up to as much as 5000 rpm before the Transmission will catch and accelerate loosing the ability to accelerate on demand when needed such as merging on to a Highway of speeds of 55 mph or higher. This behavior happens almost every single time acceleration is demanded and is not due to a lack of ATF fluid in the transmission. As the vehcile has done this after The local Service center of nissan in my area had just done the 20k mile check up. This has been on going and constant behavior since I purchased This nissan Titan in 2021. Truck currently has 35k, and has had all service suggestions done. This is a danger to my family and myself as lack of power can cause extreme danagers when you are trying to gain speed to merge onto a busy highway and you are running out of roadway to gain speed and you have to use the emergency lane to have access to safe area to gain enough speed to safely merge. This is a well known issue with this model, as I have been seeing other owners complain for sometime online in forums, when I researched if anyone else had this issue.
Dec 03, 2022
1. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE BRAKED HARD ON THE HIGHWAY TO AVOID A CAR THAT FAILED TO YIELD WHILE MERGING. THE OTHER VEHICLE THEN BRAKED HARD AND I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO GET IN FRONT BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF, BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT REV THE RPM'S OR HAVE ANY RESPONSE TO THE GAS PEDAL FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS. LUCKILY A COLLISION DID NOT OCCUR. 2. WHILE TAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A STEEP INCLINE DRIVE FROM A HIGHWAY THE TRUCK ONCE AGAIN WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE TRUCK WAS JUST SITTING ON THE INCLINE FOR ABOUT THREE SECONDS BEFORE IT RESPONDED TO THE GAS PEDAL AND CLIMBED THE HILL. THERE WAS A VEHICLE FOLLOWING BEHIND INTO THE DRIVE AND HAD TO STOP TO AVOID COLLIDING INTO MY REAR END AS THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO FOR A FEW SECONDS. I AM NOT EXACTLY SURE HOW TO DESCRIBE THESE TWO INCIDENTS OTHER THAN IT IS A "DEAD PEDAL" FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WHEN PROPULSION IS TRULY NEEDED

I tow full-time as a working nomad. My truck has gone into limp-mode (low-power mode) onto a complete loss of power. I have been stranded on 3 difference occasions. The issue first began at 75,000 miles which I have records of. After this most recent incident, I realized there was a pattern emerging. After further research, I have discovered that there is a lawsuit out for these CP4 fuel systems. I called Nissan and opened a case number. They processed and then stated that they will not assist me since I am not over 100k miles. My odometer is currently at 105K miles. I am not sure if it is safe to drive my truck and I need to relocate soon. What options do I have? Can anything be done about this? From what I am reading online, this is a $10,000 - $15,000 to fix, let alone the thousands of dollars I have already spent on varying part replacements. Nissan/Cummins designed this truck to work with the fuel being sold in Europe. The fuel in the US does not offer the lubrication required to function properly and it’s causing friction on metal which is sending metal shavings in through the fuel system. The fuel filters cannot handle the debris. The only warning signs I received from the vehicle was a dash warning stating low power / no power mode had been engaged as I lost power and had to roll to a stop on the side of the road. Thankfully I was able to get over to safety each time. Then, I stayed stranded on the side of the road (single female traveling alone with dogs) until I was able to figure things out. Nissan refused to tow or offer any support. Existing Lawsuit: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am experiencing engine stalling. I have also experienced dome light flickers or not turning on on occasion along with radio and phone charge connection not always working, like a short of some sort. Also the mirror button allowing the driver and passenger side mirrors to open close sometimes fails as if wiring is OK sometimes and other times not There is not an exact date for the issues as they have occurred on and off since 2019 I did take the truck into Nissan 11/2023 as the radio blacked out and would not turn on. I was told the Main Harness had a shorted out wire and a jumper wire should be installed. Nissan installed a jumper wire for the radio. Occasional flickering lights, charging connections, mirror operations, and engine stalling still remained.

The vehicle has loss of power and goes into limp mode unexpectedly. It has done this numerous times on the interstate and regular roads. It is a safety hazard. This has occurred on several dates and we were lucky to be able to pull over safely. We we traveling in Georgia last month and Nissan didn't even have a qualified diesel tech with 3 hours of where we were. We have had ten of thousands of dollars of work to the truck and it still is not fixed. They replaced the computer screen, wiring harness, and I believe parts of the exhaust system. They had the truck for months.

Traveling home from working nightshift. I fueled up my truck with diesel and started my commute home which is 85 miles to my residence from work. 60 miles into my commute without warning and no alerts my truck suddenly lost power to everything… engine, steering, acceleration, and electrical. Final able to pull off the road with difficulty steering. Came to a stop and everything shuts off. All the warning lights lit up but no exact detail to what caused it. Had it towed to service shop after failure to start and the sound it made trying to start wasn’t normal. Technicians ran my codes and found nothing that could diagnose the problem.

Attempted to shift vehicle into four wheel drive high mode. 4WD error message appeared in center display, as well as traction control and ABS warning indicators. 4WD was inoperative. Attempted to shift into four wheel drive high multiple times, with no success. Not sure if the traction control and ABS warning indicators are actually indicating that these systems are inoperative or not. These warnings stay on after switching back to 2WD mode, and are only extinguished after the engine is shut off and restarted. I believe the lack of 4WD can be considered a safety issue depending on the weather conditions and where the vehicle is located when this failure occurs. Dealer confirmed issue, and is replacing the transfer case, under warranty. I did a bit of research on an internet forum covering this vehicle, and found that others have had this same issue, and it has been identified as a broken shift fork in the transfer case.

I HAVE A 2018 NISSAN TITAN SV XD, SINCE WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW THERE IS NOW WARNING BUZZER FOR THE DRIVER SEAT IF THE SEAT BELT IS UNBUCKLED AND YOUR DRIVING,THIS ALSO APPLIES IF THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT WHO IS NOT BUCKLED UP, THE ONLY THING THAT SHOWS IS A ICON ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. AT ONE POINT WE ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WITH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT ONLY TO TELL US THIS IS NORMAL.. AS A SERIOUS SEAT BELT USER WHEN DRIVING, WE FEEL THAT THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE WITH NO BUZZER WARNING OF A UNBUCKLED SEAT BELT WHILE DRIVING. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN APRIL 2019. THIS ISSUE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERS ATTENTION IN MAY 2019.

CLIMATE CONTROLLED HEATED AND COOLED SEAT ON DRIVERS SIDE DOES NOT HEAT OR COOL EFFECTIVELY. THERE IS BARELY A TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OFF AND ON. DEALER ADVISED IT MUST COMPLETELY STOP WORKING TO FIX EVEN THOUGH IT HEATS LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT THE PASSENGER SEAT DOES

2018 NISSAN TITAN PRO-4X WITH 7118 MILES. TRUCK HAS BEGUN TO REV HIGH DURING ACCELERATION, SLOWING ACCELERATION & SHIFTING. THE TRUCK ALSO RANDOMLY DOWN SHIFTS DURING HIGHWAY USE. THIS TAKES PLACE DURING NORMAL OR EXTREME ACCELERATION ON BOTH HIGHWAY & STREET USE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE LACK OF ACCELERATION THAT MAY BE NEEDED IN ORDER TO SAFELY MERGE INTO TRAFFIC.
