The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH in a parking lot, the front driver's side air bag unexpectedly deployed without an impact to the vehicle. In addition, the air bag exploded. The contact was unsure if any warning light was illuminated. The contact sustained minor injuries to the right eye and the neck, and an allergic reaction on the face from the powder released from the air bag. The police and the paramedics were called. Afterwards, the contact went to an Urgent Care clinic. The contact's husband drove the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that back in 2018, she received a recall notice regarding the "Driver Frontal Air Bag Inflator ." The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, and the recall repairs were completed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 172,000.

I was working for Uber Eats in New Smyrna Beach, FL. The car was front parked and I reversed the car to pull out from the parking lot. I drove at 5 MPH on the parking lot ready to drive to the main road. The main road was two stop signs away. I was halfway to the first stop sign the airbag deployed all of a sudden. There was no car in front of me or behind me. But the airbag impact blew my right arm from the wrist. My right arm was numb and upper right shoulder was bruised.

The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V401000 (Air Bags) and 17V449000 (Air Bags); however, the dealer refused to complete the recall repairs. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that before entering the vehicle, she became aware that the driver's side air bag had deployed without impact. The contact stated that the vehicle was not involved in a crash. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer; however, the dealer refused to complete the recall repair because the driver's side air bag had deployed. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000. On September 11th, my wife was involved in a car accident while driving her 2011 Nissan Versa. The collision resulted in the vehicle rolling over and ending up upside down. Shockingly, none of the airbags deployed during this serious incident. A family member recommended that I report this to Nissan, which I promptly did. However, their response, received last Friday, was rather concerning. According to Nissan, the airbags were not designed to deploy in the event of a rollover crash, and they suggested there was no further action to be taken on their end. Today, I consulted with an attorney's office regarding this matter, and they advised me to report the incident to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as a crucial step. Consequently, I am submitting these details to NHTSA to ensure that this incident is properly documented and investigated. Safety is paramount, and I believe it is essential to bring attention to this situation so that appropriate actions can be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. BOTH front coil springs suddenly without warning broke while driving collapsing the front end of the vehicle creating difficulty in steering and handling. Although this year/model are the subject of a front coil spring recall this vin does not qualify.

On 7-25-23, my wife and I were riding in our 2011 Nissan Versa locally and noticed a banging noise coming from the front end of the car, especially when hitting bumps or uneven payment. When we parked the car at home, I noticed a small piece of metal shaped like a coil spring on the road where we usually park. I phoned our mechanic at Ryan Automotive Goodyear in Moon Twp and asked him if he had time today to see where the banging noise was coming from. We arrived at Ryan Automotive around 3pm. Our mechanic [XXX] said that the front coil spring has broken and the top engine mount needs to be replaced as well. There was a recall on the front coil springs back in 2015 that I had done at West Hills Nissan in Moon Twp, which was sold to #1 Cochran Nissan. Cochran Nissan has no record of my car being serviced at West Hills Nissan along with the recall work. I am wondering if West Hills Nissan ever replaced the coil springs or did they use the recalled coil springs for the replacement. I am trying to find out if the front coil spring recall can still be honored at a local Nissan Dealer. When I searched for official Nissan recall centers near me, #1 Cochran Nissan does not come up. As you know, a broken coil spring can easily fall below the strut and slice the sidewall on your tire in the blink of an eye, especially on the highway. This is a dangerous situation, so I would like to get the recall on the front coil springs done at a local Nissan dealer, otherwise I will consider trading the car in toward a newer car. The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Versa. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle hesitated. The contact felt the hesitation coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle as the low tire pressure warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over and saw that the front passenger’s side tire was completely flat and torn all the way around. The contact called roadside assistance and a spare tire was placed on the vehicle. The contact then drove to a dealer and was informed that the front passenger’s side coil spring fractured, which caused the puncture and damage to the tire. The dealer replaced the front driver’s and passenger’s side coil springs along with the tire. After the repair, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V573000 (Suspension) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the recall and informed him that the Vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 188,000. The tire puncture caused the tire to burst, resulting in loss of control of the vehicle. The puncture was more like a shredding of the entire circumference.

THE POWER STEERING LIGHT HAS COME UP 2 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. BOTH TIMES HAVE BEEN WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND I TURN IT ON. THE LIGHT COMES UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS. BOTH TIMES I HAVE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. IF THIS EVER HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I WILL PROBABLY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH. THE CAR ONLY HAD 35105 MILES ON IT.

THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ON MY 2011 VERSA OCCASIONALLY GOES ON AND THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO GO AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MAYBE 3-4 TIMES IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS? I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIX IT AND THEY SAID IT IS SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD TRY TO LIVE WITH SINCE IT IS SO RARE. THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION OR A WAY FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND IT MAKES ME NERVOUS THAT THE POWER STEERING COULD GO OUT AT ANY TIME. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2011 NISSAN VERSA I NOTICED A KNOCKING SOUND UNDER THE HOOD. IT ALMOST SOUNDED AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS LOW OF OIL BUT THIS WASN'T THE CASE. Driver door handle will not open from inside car at times. The exterior handle locking mechanism gets stuck not allowing the door to open from the inside. When this happens, I need to roll down the window to reach outside and jiggle the exterior door handle in order to be able to open the door from inside the car. This poses a serious safety hazard of the driver not being able to exit the vehicle in an emergency. This is a common issue with the Nissan Versa car on many car forums online. I believe there was a recall issued for newer model cars, but not the 2011 year.

STARTING ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AGO MY WIFE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE A/C NOT WORKING PROPRTLY. THEN ABOUT A WEEK AGO WHEN YOU TURN THE ALARM ON THE HORN WOULD NOT BEEP LETTING YOU KNOW IT WAS ARMED. YESTERDAY WHEN I WENT OUT TO START THE CAR TO GO TO WORK NOTHING WORKED OR CAME ON. MY WIFE BROUGHT HER VEHICLE OVER TO JUMP START IT. AS SOON AS THE JUMPER CABLES WERE HOOKED UP THE BATTERY ON THE VERSA EXPLODED AND THERE WAS ALOT OF SMOKE. NOW THE CAR IS JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY CANT EVEN GET IT OUT OF GEAR TO MOVE IT. THIS MORNING, MY CAR WOULD NOT START. I USED A BATTERY CHARGER PACK, AND IT STARTED. HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING 3 MILES TO THE LOCAL AUTO ZONE CAR STORE TO CONDUCT A FREE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TEST, THE CAR STALLED OUT. AFTER USING THE BATTERY PACK TO JUMP START IT AGAIN, THEIR BATTER/ALTERNATOR CHECK MACHINE CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. IT IS 1/19/2015 AND THE CAR IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION 2011 NISSAN VERSA WITH 33,000 MILES ON IT; THERE ARE NO MODIFICATIONS ON IT. MY CAR THAT I BOUGHT IN 2011 BRAND NEW HAS CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING EVERY OTHER MONTH . IT IS VERY RANDOM AND NO LIGHTS COME ON IN THE CAR. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY HAVE DRIVEN IT OVER 140 MILES, SCANNED 4 TIMES FOR FAILURES IN WHICH NONE CAME UP. I COMPLAINED TO THE NISSAN CORPORATION AND THEY SAY ONLY WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN THE PAST YEAR. THE BLUE PAINT ON PORTIONS OF THE HOOD OF OUR 2011 NISSAN VERSA SL IS NOT ADEQUATELY STICKING TO THE PRIMER, AND THUS LARGE CHUNKS OF PAINT ARE CHIPPING AWAY OVER TIME. THE AMOUNT OF PAINT LOSS IS GREATER AFTER LONG STRETCHES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, INDICATING LOSS DUE TO WIND. WHAT STARTED AS A 1" X 1" CHUNK OF PAINT BECOMING CRACKED AND EVENTUALLY SEPARATING AND FALLING OFF, HAS NOW TURNED INTO A 7" X 4" AREA OF EXPOSED PRIMER, AS WELL AS A LINE OF SOON TO BE LOST PAINT ON THE HOOD ALONG THE PASSENGER SIDE. ONE DAY I FOUND MY TODDLER WITH BLUE PAINT IN HER MOUTH. IT TURNS OUT SHE REACHED AND GRABBED A CHUNK OF LOOSE PAINT WHILE I WAS PULLING HER OUT OF HER CARSEAT.

IN 2015 WAS DRIVING MY 2011 NISSAN VERSA. IT WAS CLEAR WEATHER 830AM I WAS ON A STREET WHICH SPEED WAS 40-55MPH GOING WITHIN THE SPEED LIMIT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED SINCE OWNERSHIP WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE MY RIGHT FRONT END DROPPED WHICH I LEARNED WAS ( MY FRONT COIL SPRING SNAPPED) AND CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO LOOSE CONTROL AND THE CAR TO ROLL MULTIPLE TIMES AND ME BEING EJECTED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS ALSO DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE ENGAGED ON. NISSAN DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THE RECENT RECALL OF THE FRONT COIL SPRING AT ALL. I'M CURRENTLY FILING A LAWSUIT AGAINST THE COMPANY DUE TO SERIOUS DAMAGES THAT HAVE AFFECTED ME GREATLY.

SOMETIME IN JULY 2017 I RECEIVED A LETTER INFORMING ME OF THE TAKATA RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG INFLATOR HAZARD AND TO CONTACT THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALER FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. I CONTACTED THEM HERE IN MONROE MICHIGAN GAVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER AND THEY THEN INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE RECALL & ALSO INFORMED ME OF A SECOND RECALL OF A SPRING COAL RECALL WAS A RECALL BEFORE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND WAS NOT INFORMED OF IT ALSO, THEY THEN PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT AT THAT TIME THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY LOANER VEHICLES AVAILABLE & THAT THEY CAN PLACE ME ON A WAITLIST OR THAT I COULD CALL AROUND TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANY AVAILABLE. THEY STATED THAT THEY ONLY HAD 4 LOANER VEHICLES ON THERE LOT & THAT THEY WERE USING THEM ONLY FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS & THEY WOULD COME FIRST BEFORE ANYONE ELSE. I CALLED THREE OTHER DEALERSHIPS THEY ALL PUT ME ON THE WAITING LIST WITH NO RESPONSE BACK & SEVERAL ATTEMPTS INQUIRING ABOUT THE LOANER VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE JULY UP UNTIL THE DATE, WHILE I HAD BEEN DRIVING PRIOR TO JULY I HAD HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION ON THE CAR, HAD THE CAR SERVICES TWICE AT THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM WITH NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM WHEN I'M DRIVING THE CAR YOU CAN SMELL A TIRE BURNING SMELL & THEY SAID IT WAS OK TO DRIVE. I THOUGHT OTHERWISE SO I COMPLETELY STOP DRIVING THE CAR STILL PAYED THE CARNOTE MONTHLY & CAR INSURANCE WAITING ON THE LOANER VEHICLE. BECAUSE OF THIS I HAVE ALMOST LOST MY JOB, MISSED WORKED & HAD TO CAR POOL MY KID'S & I BACK & FORTH TO SCHOOL & WORK. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO NISSAN FOR RECALL THEY SUPOSEIVELY FIXED THE AIRBAG PROBLEM . SINCE THEN I HAS A SMALL FENDER BENDER. AIRBAG DID NOT POP OPEN. LAST WEEK THE CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN VEHICLE WAS ON A MAIN CITY ROAD IN MOTION AND THEN SLOWING DOWN TO TRAFFICS CHANGE IN SPEED WHEN REAR ENDED. AS SOON AS VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED, BRAKES WERE PRESSED TO PREVENT FURTHER COLLISIONS WITH VEHICLES UP FORWARD. MY VEHICLE SEATBELTS FAILED TO RESTRAIN DRIVER AND ALL PASSENGERS WEARING THEM DURING A COLLISION. SEAT BELTS DIDN'T RETRACT UNLESS BRAKES WERE SLAMMED. TWO PASSENGERS IN THE BACK WERE CHILDREN. ONE CHILD HAD A CONVERTIBLE CAR SEAT, SAVING THEM AND FULLY RESTRAINING THEM TO SEAT. FOR THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING AND IT IS BECOMING A HAZARD AS WE ARE TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND IT IS DOING NOTHING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO GO ON AND OFF AS WELL AS A KNOCKING SOUND HAD DEVELOPED. WE HAD OUR SON, WHO HAD ATTENDED SCHOOL TO BECOME A MECHANIC, CHECKED IT LOOKING AT THE OIL LEVEL. THE OIL WAS ABOUT A QUART LOW AND HE ADVISED US TO TAKE IT TO CARMAX WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED THE CAR. AFTER TWO DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AND AN OIL CHANGE AT $140.00, MY HUSBAND WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. IT IS BURNING OIL AND IS BEING EMITTED OUT THE EXHAUST AND HAS EXCESSIVE ENGINE BLOW BY. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY MAXCARE, CARMAX'S WARRANTY COMPANY, THAT IN ORDER TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND DETERMINE IF IT IS COVERED BY WARRANTY WE HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER $400.00 TO HAVE THE ENGINE TORN DOWN WITH NO GUARANTEE REPAIRS WILL BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY THE ANOTHER $400.00 TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER IF IT IS NOT FIXED. ALSO, AT LEAST 3 TIMES WHEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO TURN ON AND OFF THE VERSA STALLED WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH AT NITE AND WANTED TO DIM MY BRIGHTS FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I PULLED BACK ON THE STEM IN ORDER TO DO SO. AT THAT SAME TIME I LOST MY HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY. I WAS SCARED TO DEATH BECAUSE IT WAS A DARK NIGHT AND ALL I COULD SEE WAS THE HEADLIGHTS OF THE ONCOMING CAR-- BUT NOT MY ORIENTATION TO THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY USED THE BREAK AND EASED THE CAR ONTO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. I FOUND THE HEADLIGHT KNOB TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. I WAS CONFUSED BECAUSE I DID NOT BELIEVE THAT I HAD ROTATED IT MYSELF. THIS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL MORE OCCATIONS IN THE FIRST WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. EVENTUALLY I REALIZED THAT THE TURN-ON ROTATOR FOR THE HEADLIGHTS IS SO LOOSE, AND FREE-TURNING, THAT THE SIMPLE MOTION OF ACTIVATING OR DEACTIVATING THE BRIGHTS LOCATED ON THE SAME STEM AS THE HEADLIGHTS CAN CAUSE IT TO TURN THE LIGHTS OFF AS AN UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCE. MY HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING SEVERAL TIMES EACH. THEY FELT AS PANICED AS I HAD BEEN WHEN IT HAPPENED TO THEM THE FIRST TIME. NOW WE KNOW THAT IF WE TOUCH THE HEADLIGHT STEM FOR ANY REASON THAT WE MUST BE PREPARED TO TURN THE HEADLIGHT ROTATOR BACK TO THE ON POSITION IMMEDIATELY. The passenger seat belt keeps locking up anytime me and my wife put the seat belt on. For the seat belt to loosen we have to unclip the seat belt but anytime we even stretch the seat belt and then put it back in the clip it tightens up again. This is when we are stationary and not moving but it also happens even when we are just driving and I’m not even pressing the brake pedal when it happens.

ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2016, I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR'S STEERING VIOLENTLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND WHEN I TRIED TO CORRECT IT, THE CAR THEN TURNED ALL OF THE WAY TO THE LEFT, CAUSING THE CAR TO ROLL OVER SEVERAL TIMES. AFTERWARDS, I WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND A CHIROPRACTOR BECAUSE I HURT MY BACK, NECK AND MY HEAD. I ALSO GOT A LAWYER BECAUSE I HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING WRONG WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING PROBLEM JUST CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. NISSAN, TAKATA, TKH AND MY LAWYER INSPECTED THE CAR IN MARCH AND FOUND THAT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WENT OFF, THE SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONERS DIDN'T ACTIVATE, THE CAR'S VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR HAD A FAULT CODE, THE CAR'S INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR HAD A FAULT CODE AND NISSAN'S ENGINEER THAT WAS THERE WAS UNABLE TO ACCESS THE POWER STEERING MODULE WITH HIS MACHINE. NEXT, WE FOUND OUT THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM CAN SHUT DOWN DUE TO EXCESSIVE STEERING AT SLOW SPEEDS. THAT IS BAD BECAUSE NISSAN HAD A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT SAID THAT THE CAR CAN PULL TO ONE SIDE EVEN WHEN ALIGNED BASED ON NISSAN'S REQUIREMENTS. THIS MEANS THAT THE REASON PEOPLE HAVE HAD STEERING PROBLEMS IS BECAUSE OF THE CAR'S DESIGN, NISSAN'S ALIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS AND THE CAR NEEDING TO BE ALIGNED DIFFERENTLY. ALSO THE INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR CAN CAUSE A CAR TO SURGE AND SPUTTER, THIS CAN BE WHY PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS DIDN'T PROTECT ME. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE SPEEDOMETER RECALL MAY BE DUE TO THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR PROBLEM. EXHAUST SYSTEM CORRODING EARLY AFTER NORMAL USE. NEED TO REPLACE MIDPIPE AND SPRINGS HOLDING PARTS OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IN PLACE. I AM HAVING THEM REPLACED BEFORE IT CAUSES AN INCIDENT, BUT IF NOT FIXED IT COULD HAVE LEAD TO PIECES OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FALLING OFF DURING DRIVING AND CAUSING A ROAD HAZARD

ON 11/29/2014 I WAS I WAS TRAVELING ON A STATE HWY AT 55 MILES PER HOUR AT A MILD DESCENT IN ELEVATION IN THE RAIN WHILE APPROACHING A RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND INTERSECTION APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AHEAD. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN THE PEDAL WENT FLAT TO THE FLOOR, I REAPPLIED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES OVER AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME RESPONSE. I THEN WENT TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND REAPPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY AND AT THAT TIME IT WAS SO OVERLY SENSITIVE THAT IT OVER-BROKE AND NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH. *TR

THE CAR BEGAN TO RUN VERY LOUDLY, FUEL CONSUMPTION WAS INCREASED, POWER OF VEHICLE DECREASED. THE FIRST MECHANIC STATED IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. AFTER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT MANY NISSAN VERSA OWNERS HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND THE TAILPIPE COULD HAVE A BREAK IN IT. I TOOK IT TO MIDAS AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MUFFLER WAS STAINLESS STEEL BUT THE WELD GOING FROM THE MUFFLER TO THE FLANGE/TAILPIPE WAS REGULAR STEEL WHICH CORRODES VERY EASILY CAUSING BREAKAGE. IF THIS HAD NOT BEEN FIXED IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE MUFFLER COULD HAVE FALLEN OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED, AS WELL AS MANY OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2011 NISSAN VERSA 1.8 BASE MODEL HB AT THE END OF 2010, ALMOST 1 YEAR LATER MY VEHICLE BEGAN GIVING ME PROBLEMS: THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WERE BURNING OUT AFTER USING THE HIGH BEAMS FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I'VE CHANGED MY BULBS OVER 10 TIMES SINCE I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE. THE NEXT ISSUE I HAVE IS THE WINDSHIELD/REAR WINDOW SPRAY PUMP, IT SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING SO I CHECKED TO SEE IF IT WAS LOW ON LIQUID IT WAS I REFILLED BUT IT STILL WOULD NOT WORK, SO I TOOK THE CAR IN AT VACAVILLE NISSAN TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND ANY LEAKS. NO LEAKS WERE FOUND. SO WHERE IS THE LIQUID GOING? ALL IN ALL I ASKED IF MY CAR WAS ON RECALL, THEY SAID NO! I GO THROUGH LIGHT BULBS ALMOST EVERY MONTH, AND ITS BAD THAT I HAVE TO PULL OVER INTO A GAS STATION EVERY TIME MY WINDSHIELD GETS DIRTY, THIS IS NOT FAIR TO ME AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING! I THEN, WENT BACK TO NISSAN TO SEE HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO NOT ONLY DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE WITH MY HEADLIGHTS BUT TO PAY FOR AND INSTALL A NEW SPRAY PUMP. THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR CONTINUALLY LIGHTS UP CAUSING PANIC AND EXTREME INCONVENIENCE. WE NEVER KNOW IF THE TIRES ARE FLAT OR IF IT IS A MALFUNCTION. WE HAVE CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WE WERE TOLD THAT WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM. HOW CAN THIS BE? THE MALFUNCTION IS ALMOST ALWAYS ON THE FREEWAY AND AT VERY DANGEROUS TIMES AND UNSAFE AREAS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAD NO INTENTION OF HELPING US. 2011 NISSAN VERSA WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR NOT SHIFTING OUT OF PARK. AT THE TIME, POWERTRAIN WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. DEALER ADVISED, THAT THE SHIFTER SOLENOID IS NOT FUNCTIONING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE COST FOR THE SHIFTER SOLENOID IS APPROXIMATELY $600.00 DOLLARS. I CONDUCTED A RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED NISSAN HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH MOST OF THEIR VEHICLES AT LOW MILEAGE. NISSAN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE SUSPENSION IS ALSO MAKING NOISES AND HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN, WHO HAS ADVISED THE STRUT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE MAKES CLICKING NOISED WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. THE COST FOR OEM STRUT IS APPROXIMATELY $ 200.00. THE DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW GOES DOWN EVERY TIME AS EXPECTED, BUT DOES NOT ALWAYS ROLL UP AS EXPECTED. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE THE SWITCH WILL DO ANYTHING AT ALL, SOMETIMES I ONLY HAVE TO WAIT A FEW SECONDS. THE AUTO-UP FUNCTION STOPS WORKING FREQUENTLY, AND THE MOTOR FOR THE POWER WINDOW HAS TO BE RESET FOR IT TO START FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP'S FIX TO THE PROBLEM WAS TO SHOW ME HOW TO RESET THE MOTOR INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY FIXING THE WINDOW. IT'S ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC WHEN IT'S RAINING OUTSIDE AND THE WINDOW DECIDES IT'S NOT GOING TO ROLL UP, BUT IT DOES IT IN RAIN OR SHINE, SO I KNOW IT'S NOT A PROBLEM OF THE CONTROLS GETTING DRIPPED ON. I HAD TO ATTEMPT A SUDDEN BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE MADE A WEIRD NOISE. THE VEHICLE THEN STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND STALLED. I CALLED AAA HAD IT TOWED TO TEMECULA CA TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND CHECKED. FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND MY ENGINE. I CONTINUE HAVING CONCERNS WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL BLOW OUT COLD AIR CONTINUOUSLY FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES THEN IT WILL START BLOWING OUT WARM AIR. WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED THEY REPAIR SOMETHING OR CAN NOT SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP SINCE DAY ONE OF PURCHASE FOR THE SAME THING AND THE CAR IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE NISSAN CORPORATION DOES NOT WANT TO CONSIDER IT A LEMON BUT I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE SEPTEMBER 2, 2011 BOUGHT IT WITH 15 MILES AND HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2011. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT (WITH A HERTZ RENTAL CAR IN KAUAI HAWAII) AND SWITCHING BETWEEN HIGH BEAM AND LOW BEAM AND TRAVELING AT 40 MPH ALL THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF. THE STALK MOUNTED SWITCH CONTROLS BOTH HEADLIGHT ON/OFF (ROTARY MOTION) AND HIGH BEAM-LOW BEAM WITH BACK AND FORTH STALK MOTION. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND SUCCESSFULLY USING THE HIGH-BEAM LOW BEAM SELECTOR OFTEN, ON THE NEXT CHANGE BETWEEN HIGH AND LOW BEAM THE ROTARY MOTION OF THE KNOB ALSO ENGAGED AND TURNED THE HEADLIGHTS OFF. I HAVE SIMILAR CONTROLS ON MY CAR AT HOME AND THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED. THE ROTARY MOTION OF THE ON / OFF KNOB REQUIRES JUST A VERY LIGHT TWIST AND THE IN-OUT MOTION NEEDED TO CHANGE BETWEEN HIGH AND LOW BEAM ALSO TWISTED THE OFF SWITCH. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A HALT WITH THE BRAKES AND STAY ON THE ROAD. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND VERY FRIGHTENING TO BRAKE FROM 40 MPH IN THE PITCH DARK NOT KNOWING IF THE NEXT INSTANT WAS TO BRING A CRASH. MY WIFE WAS ALSO VERY SHOOK UP. AFTER I STOPPED I FIGURED OUT WHAT HAPPENED. IT WAS PITCH BLACK OUTSIDE WITH NO STREET LIGHTS. THIS CAN KILL SOMEONE!! THE FLUTED SURFACE OF THE ON/OFF KNOB EXACERBATES THE PROBLEM AND MAKES IT EASIER FOR A LIGHT BRUSH WITH A FINGER TIP TO TURN THE KNOB AND HEADLIGHTS OFF.
