Shortly after I purchase this vehicle brand new I noticed that the car jerks, or shudders when I drive. I even thought that it may be due to the front and back brakes so I would turn them off. As time passed this continued to happen even worse than in the beginning. It turns out the transmission is not good, this has almost caused me to have accidents thank God it hasn't happened, yet. I am trying to get out of this vehicle as we speak I have two children and would hate for something to happen to them on the only car I own.

I have a 2020 Nissan and I purchased it in 2021 with 80 miles and its 2023 and the engine is now bad. You mean to tell me that you pay 19000 for a car that’s going to mess up in less than 2 years

After the car in front of me turned onto a side street, the Forward Collision Warning system alarmed and then the Automatic Emergency Braking slowed my car. I was following at a sufficient distance that I was at no risk of hitting the car in front of me. This incident was a near miss because nobody was following my car, but had someone been following me when my car unexpectedly braked, there would have been a risk of me being rear-ended. I have not reproduced the error and it would be very burdensome for me to try. I reported this to Nissan Consumer Affairs and they told me to get it inspected by a dealer, which I plan on doing but have not done yet. There were no warning lamps inconsistent with the event. Generally when this system actuates a light or two will come in and then clear on their own. I was focused on the road and not the dashboard so I cannot confirm this happened 100%, but there were no warning lights before or after the event.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking; went to auto service center to fix rest of accident body damage, unsure if they addressed these specific issues until I pick up the car this weekend --- How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - Myself and one other passenger (child) were safely secured while driving, as was the other driver as reported; Safety did feel even more assuring prior to impact, as we were under the impression that FCW and AEB features were going to activate --- Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - It has been reported to both insurance and auto service center, but not reported as of this writing if issues were addressed --- Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - Yes, it is currently at auto service center, in preparation for pickup this weekend --- Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No. Prior to this accident, I have seen both the FCW and AEB features deploy without any issues when in situation where they would normally.

After I crossed a bridge between 55 and 60 mph the aeb gave a collision warning and almost immediately applied full braking power. This caused a 3 car collision that resulted in moderate injuries. Before the incident there were no recalls or other repairs needed on the car. After the incident the car was inspected for potential issues by a team of lawyers the insurance company and the repair shop and no non crash damage related issues were found. Since the vehicle was repaired the problem has occurred on 3 separate occasions during normal daily use.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the Chevrolet dealer where the vehicle was purchased, and the vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Versa. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the RPM dropped, and the vehicle was unable to accelerate. The contact stated that the RPM then suddenly increased and the vehicle quickly accelerated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure after several test drives. The vehicle was not repaired. CVT Shudders Jolts and grinds on stop and go traffic to the point where it feels like it’s going to destroy itself. The symptom occurs at very random occasions and the cars onboard diagnostics has failed to detect a problem with the vehicle. Vehicle had also turned off once suddenly when pressing accelerator from a complete stop(Has not happened ever since). Vehicle has no check engine codes or pending codes. Nissan Consumer affairs has failed to offer a resolution to this issue to my satisfaction other than pay out of pocket for diagnosing and repairing. Issues presented themselves prior to the warranty expiring and are only getting worse. Of course the dealer said it’s normal and most likely did not notate my concern (started happening very slightly and no check engine lights were on at the time of notifying them and even then it was a very random issue at that time) when I told them during my oil change. But now it’s too noticeable.

I am not sure which component or system is failing neither does Nissan however it is available for inspection. This vehicle will stall in traffic starting at high speeds and it fails to accelerate while driving which’s puts my safety and other drivers at risk. The dealership has not been able to properly diagnose or repair this ongoing problem. This problem has persisted for 2 years. It has only been inspected by the dealer ship at two different locations. Of the seven times it has been to the shop only one time the check engine light came on. No other lights have ever been ignited on the dashboard.

Natural wind and/or velocity from surrounding moving vehicles, and/or speeds above 55mph forces random uncontrollable car movement, at times forcing the car to cross lane markers. I do not feel safe driving on the freeway, highway, or two way streets.

The contact stated that while driving 25-30 MPH, another vehicle ran the stop sign and crashed into the front driver's side of the vehicle, and the entire front end of the vehicle was impacted and was significantly damaged. The contact stated that the front bumper separated and the headlights detached. The contact was occupying the front driver's seat while the contact's husband was occupying the front passenger's side seat. The contact stated that all the air bags deployed except the passenger's side curtain air bags, causing the contact's husband to hit his head against the window. Both the contact and her husband later went to the hospital, where the contact's husband was informed that he had sustained a concussion and a bump. The contact's husband also sustained burns and bruises on the legs from the air bags deployment. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2020 NISSAN VERSA SR BACK FROM A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT AT 3:30 PM ON 14 FEB 2022 TRAVELING ABOUT 25 MPH THRU RESIDENTIAL AREA WHEN BOTH SIDE AIR BAGS EXPLODED AND TOTALLY ENCAPSULATING HER SO SHE COULD NOT BREATH NOR MOVE TO STEER THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS ALL SHE COULD DO TO APPLY THE BRAKES. A FIRE TRUCK WS RIGHT BEHIND SO SO WERE ABLE TO RENDER ASSISTANCE AND CUT HER OUT OF THE AIR BAGS SO SHE COULD BREATH. THE AIR BAG IMPACT SEVERELY HURT AND CAUSED BRUSES AND HEARING LOSS AND SHOCK. THERE WAS NO IMPACT NOR DOOR CLOSURES NOR ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN A MALFUNCTION WHICH CAUSED THIS. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 15,000 MILES. THE. CARS TROUBLE CODE SHOWED A ROLL-OVER CAUSE THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY; HOWEVER, AGAIN THERE WAS NO IMPACT NOR ROLL-OVER NOR ANY DAMAGE TO THIS VEHICLE WHICH COULD CAUSE AIR BAGS TO ACTIVATE. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE AIR BAGS WERE ACTIVATED BY WHAT APPEARS TO BE A COMPLETELY RANDOM ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. i SUSPECT THE CAUE MIGHT BE SOMESORT OF SENSITIVITY TO ELECTROMAGNECTIC RADIATION SUCH AS THE NEW 5G CELL PHONES OR HIGH POWERED RADIOS SO.... IN THE PAST... Nissan determined the wrong combination of metals was used in the side airbag sensor connector harness, causing oxidation on the pins of the airbag control unit harness connection. The oxidation on the connector pins can cause a short loss of communication from the satellite sensor to the airbag control unit.The Nissan Versa curtain and seat-mounted side airbag system will enter a backup mode when signal loss occurs and this backup mode allows the curtain and seat-mountain side airbags to deploy as intended in a crash. However, the backup mode that kicks in from signal loss changes the requirements that must be met for the airbags to deploy, so simply slamming the doors can activate the airbags. Typically the force needed to activate the airbags can only come from someone slamming a door from the outside, but real hazards exist if occupant is inside the car when airbags deploy.

Cleaned air system, ie filter, hoses and throttle body. Same issues. Car feels unpredictable and unsafe. Can’t accelerate through intersections and does not respond well went issue is present.

THE SCREEN FOR THE RADIO WON'T TURN ON SOMETIMES WHEN THE CAR IS ON. I HAVE TO DRIVE A COUPLE MILES BEFORE IT WORKS LEAVING ME WITHOUT GPS AND RADIO. ITS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES SINCE OWNERSHIP.

Sometimes when starting my car 3 lights illuminate the ABS, Forward Collision Warning, and the Parking Collision Warning. When this happens my car will not accelerate. It will not move when gas is applied or it moves very slowly. This happens in drive and reverse. It happens at random times and it has almost caused me to get hit when I attempted to pull out of a parking lot and my car all of a sudden would not move.

I HAVE A 2020 NISSAN VERSA AND I PURCHASED IT IN JULY. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A MONTH OR SO I BEGAN TO HEAR A SQUEAKING NOISE. I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID IT WAS BRAKE DUST. I KEPT HEARING THE NOISE AND I TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE BRAKES. I WENT BACK TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY SAID SOME HARDWARE WAS MISSING FROM MY BRAKES.I HAVE BEEN OUT HERE DRIVING IN THIS CAR WITH FAULTY BRAKES THAT LEFT THE MANUFACTURER AND THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PUT OUT INTO CIRCULATION FOR PURCHASE. *JS

I am reporting a chronic and dangerous defect in my 2020 Nissan Versa that results in an unpredictable, sudden, and complete loss of acceleration (motive power) while driving. This defect has been present since shortly after purchase and remains unresolved, posing a severe safety risk on public roads. Specific Safety Incident Details: Symptoms: The failure begins with the illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light), simultaneously accompanied by dashboard messages like "Malfunction See Owner’s Manual" and "Key System Error." The Critical Safety Hazard (Loss of Power): Immediately following the dash warning, the vehicle experiences a major, sudden loss of acceleration. This is not a gradual deceleration—the throttle becomes unresponsive, and the vehicle will not accelerate for approximately 4 to 5 seconds. Driving Conditions: This failure occurs randomly, including during critical maneuvers such as accelerating from a stop, merging into traffic, or attempting to accelerate on a highway. Consequence: When the vehicle unexpectedly fails to accelerate (especially in high-speed or high-traffic situations), it creates a high risk of being struck from behind or being unable to clear an intersection or merging lane safely. Initial Report (In-Warranty): The problem was first reported on March 31, 2021 (Mileage 25,404) to Central Houston Nissan (Invoice # NICS309560) and again on July 29, 2021 (Mileage 32,229) to Sterling McCall Nissan (Invoice # 2373806). Engineering Investigation: On both occasions, the dealerships specifically noted that the issue (DTC P0101 and associated warnings/power loss) was "under investigation under Nissan Engineers." Technical Service Bulletin (TSB): Nissan has acknowledged this widespread issue by releasing TSB NTB21-049 (June 8, 2021), which addresses the "MIL ON WITH DTC P0101" for the 2020-2021 Versa model.

I have serval codes from varies companies, O'Reilly's, Luther Nissan Dearlership from April to June 2025, the code is P0012, camshaft. The vehicle intermittently does not have power and I could easily be rear ended. Even thought Luther Nissan has had code P0012, camshaft they have not fixed it. I brought it to Luther Nissan 3 times since 4/22/25 to 6/2/25. Luther said,"Valvoline put transmission fluid in oil, said they drove it for 100 miles and found nothing, said old and current code on the same day and finally said you need a new battery. I bought a new battery. It happened again and I brought to a different certified shop on 7/11/25. Waiting to hear back. I have VERY detailed paperwork and many family/neighbors know. If I have an accident they know to sue Luther and Nissan.

Good afternoon This is [XXX] The car wholesale auto Naugatuck CT number We got a Nissan versa 2020 picked it up on [XXX] the car is having same issues twice it is drifting to one side mostly when braking I first got it fixed myself with new control arm in the front because the car was favoring the the passenger side and wheels would get locked we got it fixed form the dealership first then the bolts came off three weeks later the tire got dislodged we had it fixed again they extended the warranty but same problem show up again it’s safety issue seems the car was In an accident on passenger side which damage the wheel rod which is wearing out the bolts and joint in the control arm and the steering and suspension. I am writing to report a potential safety and design defect in my vehicle that I have also noticed affecting many other owners of the same make and model. The issue involves the rubber seal at the edge of the windshield, which is supposed to prevent water from entering the engine bay. However, the rubber is not properly secured—it merely sits in place—allowing water to pass underneath it. As a result, water accumulates on the valve cover near the ignition coil, creating a risk of electrical problems, including misfires or potential engine failure. Over time, this could lead to serious mechanical and safety issues. After researching, I have found that many other owners of the same vehicle have experienced this same problem. I am writing to formally report ongoing and unresolved issues with my vehicle that have significantly impacted its safety and reliability. The persistent problems include: Multiple simultaneous dashboard warning indicator illuminations Recurring "See Owner's Manual" malfunction notifications Intermittent Key System Error messages Continuous presence of diagnostic Code P0101 A representative from the dealership management informed me that Code P0101 is a known and widespread issue affecting multiple Nissan models, including the Versa, Sentra, and Altima. Despite this acknowledgment, I have been repeatedly told that these concerns are "under engineering review," yet no progress has been made, nor have I received any meaningful updates regarding the investigation. This lack of resolution raises serious safety concerns, and I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter further. I’ve read other other complaints about this make/ model car and my car does ALL of those things. First the acceleration at Rand times my car will not accelerate whether it be pulling out of a parking space, sitting at a red light, making a turn etc. have took to a mechanic because this issue and my check engine light was on due to the mass air flow sensor or filter got that fixed and car still does the same thing. Second when playing music through Bluetooth the radio just randomly restarts after playing approx 3 songs. Next the forward and back collision , abs system lights make an appearance on the dash whenever they feel like it. The emergency breaking system forward and back breaks for me when nothing is behind my car or I’m a great deal behind another car. The car now cuts off while driving. My passenger side door does not lock when pressed on the key fob with all of the other doors. The remote start does not work AT ALL. The trunk does not open when pressed on the key fob either. The lighter port does not have any power. I did buy this car used for being 5 years old and having 71,000 miles I thought that I was getting a somewhat decent deal but that is not the case, I do not feel safe in this car nor do I get to enjoy any of the features of “having a newer car”.

The contact stated while her husband was driving at 40 MPH, the vehicle in front abruptly stopped causing the contact to depress the brake pedal in order to avoid rear-ending the vehicle in front. As a result, the contact was rear-ended, and the vehicle behind that vehicle that rear ended the contact crashed into the rear of the vehicle as well. During the impact, it caused the contact vehicle to be pushed forward and then rear-end the vehicle in front that abruptly stopped. The air bags did not deploy. The driver and passenger seats fractured in a backward position. In addition, the front passenger side seat belt failed to retract during the crash. The contact was seated in the front passenger seat and during the impact she hit her head dashboard and sustained a concussion, shoulders, head, back, jaw, and left leg. The contact sustained head, shoulders, back, and leg injuries. Both received medical attention via the hospital. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was unknown.

Stock road tires are 205x55/16 - diameter of 24.9”. Stock spare tire is 125x70/15 - diameter of 21.9”. The spare tire is 3” smaller than the road tire or 17.9% smaller. Checking other marques, the spare typically is less than 7% smaller and some web sites say 3% is a good limit. I am aware of the 50 mile, 55 mph limits. Is it safe to put the spare tire on a front wheel position of this FWD car? NissanUSA refers all questions to the local dealer who says no problem. Thank you.

Safety is at risk for multiple reasons one because a month upon receiving this brand new vehicle with 40 miles on it I’ve been experiencing malfunctioning problems. I am not able to receive a forward collision warning at times. I’m not sure if these electrical problems also caused my battery to die a few weeks later. In these moments is the start of when the malfunction notification would appear daily. Two— The transmission has been having issues for a long time as well. My drives no longer have a smooth transition when I press the gas it stutters and will not accelerate immediately. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. I brought my car new once again so am very disappointed at how much needs to be worked on and do not want to purchase from Nissan ever again.

When vehicle is engaged into gear it won’t move or moves very slowly. As I turn on my car and change the gear into drive or reverse and I accelerate the car won’t move at all. I’ve had this happen many times either after I’m moving from a parked spot or after stopping at a red light. My car was inspected and they told me it was fine nothing was wrong. But the very next it happened again. My safety was put at risk because my car won’t accelerate in the middle of traffic or roads where I could get hit by another vehicle. There are currently no warning lamps or messages that are on my dashboard and there are no codes on my car was well the mechanics have said there is nothing they can find wrong with my car. It also happens at very random times making it unpredictable and dangerous. The latest incident occurred 01/05/23 but it has happened multiple times before that.

while in reverse the automatic braking system locked up. There was nothing behind me or in my camera visually. Then I went to pull forward, the panel lights lit up, and, crash lights front can't up and the radar front light. My car has stayed in the shop at Nissan since January 2022 to present except for 4 weeks. Nissan refuses to deem as a lemon, yet everything is pointing to what other owners have experienced with this particular car. When those brakes locked up my car is no longer stable to drive, yet Nissan is saying it's a Shock on the right side. A shock doesnt go out at this early in a brand new car. Nor does all of the components mentioned.We take meticulous care of our vehicle. I have a case opened with Nissan USA Consumer affairs currently. Car is still in shop.

Everytime I turn my car on, there’s a chance that some lights will turn on my dash for absolutely no reason..the car could be parked and getting warmed up and the traction control light,parking collision warning, and front collision light all turn on simultaneously. I have included a photo to get a Better picture! only way for me to get rid of them is by turning my car off for 5 minutes then turning it back on again. It been a real inconvenience. Not to mention when those lights turn on it means I can’t Parallel park anywhere because my rear parking assist prevents me from backing up, because it “thinks” something is in the way…ugh! Not only that but everytime I play music my Nissan Connect shuts of in the middle of my drive then resets and starts playing music again. If you guys have any answers for me please let me know I bought this car in August of 2021

BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Recently, my Nissan has started having many problems with several of the collision/emergency sensors on the vehicle. It will happen randomly, in any sort of weather, and the sensor warnings will stay on for different amounts of time during each incident. Having the sensors randomly go off while driving is incredibly distracting, not to mention completely unsafe and useless. Along with the sensor issues, the AEB will spontaneously stop my vehicle and not allow me to brake it hot the gas. This is notable mainly when reversing. Just this morning I was completely unable to back out of my driveway because the AEB system kept automatically braking and preventing me from being out (though there was absolutely nothing moving or in the way.)

This issue has been going on for 6 months. On three different occasions I have taken my car to Fred Hass Nissan due to the sensor lights coming on as if someone is going to hit me from the back and side of my car. It is still not fixed and they tell me it is safe to drive but I feel unsafe. You can be driving down the road whether it be sunshine or raining and no cars are around you and all of a sudden these sensor lights come on and my car slows down as if trying to avoid a collision. I have purchased 4 vehicles over the past several years from this same dealership and this one has given me trouble. I had to beg for them to give me a rental car so they could check my car out Monday and then they called me Tuesday late afternoon to come get my car because they couldn't fix it and it's under engineering review to figure out how to resolve this issue. This is the 2nd time they have given me this excuse. I called Nissan Corporate 800 number and complained and this man from Consumer Affairs who was very rude kept telling me there was nothing they could do and they weren't going to buy back my car and that I would just have to take it back to the Dealership and they would have to figure it out on how to fix the issue and that a letter would be going out to them and that I would need to contact them on if they received the letter or not. I have photos and videos of the sensor light issues and have given them to Fred Haas Nissan to review and again nothing has been done. I am back in this car still having the issue and Nissan doesn't want to keep the car and give me a rental until they can come up with a solution to fix the issue. I am afraid that if it is not corrected there is going to be an accident that could have been prevented.

FIRST ISSUE WAS A DEFECTIVE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE PART THAT COMPRESSESS AIR TO MAKE A HYDROLOGIC HAD A HOLE. YOU COULD HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A BASKETBALL BEING DEFLATED NEAR THE BRAKE PEDAL. THEY FIXED IT THIS WAS AT ABOUT 25K MILES. AND NOW THE PERSISTENT PROBLEM IS THE TRANSMISSION. IT MAKES MY CAR JERK OR RUN WITH REDUCED POWER, OR SOMETIMES MORE POWER. ITS VERY ANNOYING AND A BURDEN. ALSO THE FUEL OXYGEN INTAKE RATIO HAS TO CONSTANTLY BE RESET BY ME EITHER SWITCHING THE CAR TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING OR BY TURNING THE ENGINE OFF THEN TURNING BACK ON 5 SECONDS LATER, THEN TURNING IT OFF AGAIN. AND TURNING IT BACK ON 30 SECONDS LATER, AND REPEATING THE 30 SECONDS ON AND OFF UNTIL THE ENGINE SOUNDS STABLE. ALSO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TOTALLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME. AND THEY STILL TREAT ME AVERAGE AT BEST WHEN I GET MY LIO CHANGES THERE. AND ALWAYS MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT THE MILEAGE. I DON'T EVEN COMPLAIN TO THEM ABOUT THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT WILL NOT START, IT WILL NOT TURN ON. NONE OF MY LIGHTS HAVE BEEN LEFT ON, NOTHING HAS BEEN PLUGGED IN. THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT JUMPED IT STARTED AND TURNED ON. THE BELT WAS MAKING A HIGH PITCHED SQUEALING NOISE. AFTER IT WAS INITIALLY JUMPED AND AFTER IT WAS ON & DROVE AROUND & PUT BACK IN PARK AND TURNED BACK OFF. IT NO LONGER WOULD START. I HAVE TRIED TO HAVE IT JUMPED AGAIN & IT WOULD NOT JUMP. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE ENGINE AND FUEL SYSTEM. WHEN I'VE TRIED TO TURN IT ON AND IT WOULDN'T IT MADE SORT OF LIKE A GARGLING NOISE AFTER I HAD HIT THE START BUTTON AS WELL AS THE GAUGES COMING VERY SLIGHTLY & SHAKING

THE FUEL DOESN'T PUMP CORRECTLY AS IT SHOULD. THE FUSE BURNT OUT. THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING RANDOMLY ACTIVATES FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE DRIVING. IT ALSO DOESN'T ACTIVATE AT ALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RELEASE WHEN THE BUTTON WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE DETECTED FROM THE SEAT. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY RELEASE THE SEAT BELT. ADDITIONALLY, THE HOOD FAILED TO CLOSE AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GAP ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KINGS NISSAN (2758 CONEY ISLAND AVE, BROOKLYN, NY 11235, (718) 934-3300) WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
