Purchased brand new 2024 Nissan Versa January 2025. In April 2025 with only 1100 miles on the engine the CVT failed. Nissan replaced it with a rebuilt CVT. On [XXX] the second CVT failed and the car had to be towed in. This is a dangerous situation and I have told Nissan they need to buy back the car from me. I live in Phoenix which has many dangerous highways and if the engine failed on one of those highways it could cost me my life because when it fails it goes into what the tow truck drivers call limp mode and I can't go more than 5 to 10 miles an hour on a highway where people routinely Drive 80 miles an hour INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Recently began driver training on this vehicle with my son (at approximate vehicle mileage of 8,500). Vehicle is manual transmission and had never previously been stalled. Once vehicle had been stalled during driver training, reduced vehicle power was available, creating an unsafe condition when attempting to merge into traffic or driving on an uphill grade. The issue produced no warning message or CEL but did produce a pending OBDII error code of P2615 (camshaft signal output circuit low). The error appears to resolve after a full restart (shut down, unlock and open door, close door, restart). The error is reproducible and has occurred on multiple occasions. The error does not reset if simply restarting vehicle without opening door between restart. I have scheduled an appointment for evaluation by dealer, but it has not yet been confirmed by dealer. I believe this is a manufacturing defect, as the same issue occurs on another identical car owned by me.

I recently purchased a new 2024 Nissan Versa S with the manual transmission. I am an experienced manual transmission driver; however, I have stalled it 3 times in the last 5400 miles. The following issue appears after stalling and restarting the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, everything seems normal. There are no warning lights on the dash to show otherwise, however when you begin to accelerate, the vehicle seems to be in some kind of “limp mode”. The vehicle is extremely sluggish and will barely accelerate. The first time this happened I stalled the vehicle in traffic. After restarting the car, I slowly pulled up to the stop bar as I continued to complete a U-turn at a green stop light with oncoming traffic heading my way. I had no knowledge that the vehicle would be in this “limp mode”. This almost caused an accident because the vehicle had very little acceleration and I could not accelerate fast enough to get to the speed limit as oncoming cars quickly approached behind me. I continued to have acceleration problems in multiple gears, so I pulled over, parked the vehicle and shut off the ignition. Upon restarting the vehicle a few minutes later, the slow acceleration issued seemed to go away. This “limp mode” has happened to me 3 times in about 5400 miles. I have been driving manual transmission cars for over 25 years and have never had a vehicle go into “limp mode” simply because I let the clutch out to fast/slow and stalled the vehicle. Stalling out a vehicle with a manual transmission occasionally is normal. Going into limp mode afterwards is not normal and is indicative of a serious safety deficiency within the vehicle. Upon reading the other reports of similar circumstances regarding 2022-2024 Versa’s with manual transmissions, it seems there may a larger safety problem with these vehicles.

I recently purchased a brand new Nissan Versa, and I've been experiencing a serious issue with it. The car loses power after stalling while I'm driving, whether on the highway or in city traffic. What's alarming is that there are no warnings before this happens. Not being able to maintain a speed above 30 mph on the freeway is extremely dangerous, as I can't accelerate to avoid potential hazards. This problem occurred just 4 days ago, and the car only had 500 miles on it at the time. I took it to the dealership, but they informed me that they can't assist until I've made my first payment on the car. Given the severity of the issue, I believe this situation needs urgent attention.

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Versa. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Versa. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 MPH and as she was accelerating to merge onto a highway, the vehicle was losing forward momentum. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and was still losing forward momentum. The contact manually shifted the vehicle to a lower gear and depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle was only driving at 30 MPH and no faster. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had pulled over and turned the vehicle off and on and was able to regain normal vehicle function. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but was a recurring failure. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

Brand new Versa delivered 8/16/2024. Started to hear chirping, whirring noise from clutch pedal when halfway depressed (right before bite) and also when releasing pedal, halfway up, when engine is warm. First started at 1200 miles and continues presently. Taken to Nissan dealership on 10/8/2024 and was told their mechanics don’t have the time to drive around and make engine warm to reproduce clutch symptoms. Major concern as this is brand new from the Nissan factory already exhibiting major clutch symptoms indicative of faulty release bearing/release fork, causing potentially catastrophic transmission damage a few hundred or thousand miles from now, when it could have otherwise been prevented promptly, under factory warranty. Vehicle is available for inspection by NHTSA. No one injured.

After four months of driving without incident, all of a sudden, the car repeatedly stalled. When I restarted the car, no matter how much I pushed on the gas pedal, it wouldn't accelerate. At one point, I had the gas pedal to the floor, but the rpm indicator stayed very low and the car was only able to go around 30 mph. It was clear the car couldn't be driven safely, so we had it towed to the dealer, and the dealer said he couldn't replicate the problem, but the dealer has recently had a lot of problems, so I wouldn't take them at their word.

The car is a manual transmission. I stalled the vehicle by accident and after turning the engine on again the vehicle experienced loss of power as if it was in some kind of limp mode. The cars now able to accelerate past 25-30 mph in any gear for the remainder of the trip home.

Intermittently the car will not accelerate when needed. It becomes excrutiatingly and terrifyingly slow. This is life-threating when coming into highway speed traffic from an exit ramp. On the highway, I've had cars slam on brakes behind me as I tried to accelerate from traffic lights. I saw no warning lamps.

Manual transmission barely responded to acceleration with gas pedal to the floor (LITERALLY the gas pedal was engaged as far as it would go). The sluggish response was present in all five gears. To restate, the car was extremely sluggish - it barely accelerated. This has been an episodic issue that has occurred about six times over the course of 8 months. In additional details, I put in the date of the most recent occurrence but it has happened multiple times since purchasing the car new in April 2024.

I purchased a 2024 Nissan Versa S 5 Speed approx. two months ago. Upon driving the first week, the engine would rev high in between shifting (not rev hang) and made the vehicle almost impossible to drive smooth. I have been driving manuals for 34 years. I planned on taking the car to the dealer to check when I had time. Then by week two to four, a rattle developed under the shifter adn center console. Lastly, the car went into limp mode for no reason and with no check engine light. I turned the car off and on again. The problem went away. I took the vehicle to the dealer 2.5 weeks ago and haven't seen the car since. The head mechanic said the problem was a cam sensor and every time he fixed the problem, the car would do the same thing every morning. He also said Nissan was aware of this problem with the manual Versa, and the fix is to "wait". I since discovered I am not the only one and how dangerous this glitch it. Imagine trying to exit on the highway only to go into limp mode. I am scared to drive this car and will not put my family in this car now. I don't even have 3K on the odometer. They also can't find the cause of the loud rattling sound either.

This vehicle came with a 5-speed manual transmission. I am still learning how to drive a stick shift well, and on my way home from the dealer there were several instances of me stalling the engine due to letting the clutch out too fast. In several of these cases, when I restarted the engine, it acted almost as if it were in limp mode, or if the clutch was slipping badly.

While driving down the highway, the vehicle significantly lost power while going up a hill, so much so that I had to downshift into 2nd gear in order to maintain and not lose speed. This is incredibly dangerous as I was only able to climb the hill at about 20 mph while the flow over traffic was 55 mph.

I just purchased my 2024 Nissan VERSA two weeks ago August 24, 2024. Since I have had it my car doesn’t seem to want to shift speed like it should. My transmission seems to be stalling to change out. My car also constantly makes a growling noise when left I’m on my brakes sitting. I took my car back to the dealerships and they tried tell me that it was the compressor which is false my AC nor my defrost is on. I really need this problem resolved. The noise it’s making is unbelievable coming from a brand new car.

NEW 2024 Versa S 5 speed purchased in Aug 2024 from Jim Click Nissan Dealership in Tucson, AZ. I brought it in to Nissan dealership 2 months later 4200 mi, for complaints of surging, fluctuating fan speeds with air conditioning on high & to check alternator. They couldn’t reproduce problem. It continues to persist to this day as I write this on 4/20/25. Alternator values show 13.46 V with load off, 12.29 V with load on. Nissan Dealership denies alternator or ac fan problems and no action taken despite 3 service visits/complaints. On [XXX] I attempted to accelerate out of the dealership parking lot. With no warning signs or check engine light, car had power loss and unable to accelerate: RPMs would rev to 3500 in gears 1-3 but car would only reach 35 mph max with full throttle. In 4th gear, max throttle, engine RPM’s would not exceed 2250 RPM’s. I continued through 4 miles of local street traffic to reach home, including an anxious moment making a left turn at traffic light narrowly missing oncoming traffic due to loss of acceleration. When I arrived home, I shut off engine and after 10 seconds restarted it and the problem was gone and able to drive normally. This was the first episode ever and experienced at 21,720 miles, and recurred again the following day after stalling on an incline at a right corner traffic light. I Immediately restarted the ignition and applied throttle to ascend the incline and to avoid rolling backward to hit the car behind me, only to lose power & stall again. No check engine or warning lights displayed. After another attempted engine restart, I was able to advance & car drove normally. This limp mode power loss can be reproduced after engine stall from rapid clutch pedal release, followed by engine restart. Autozone alternator test on 4/19/25 revealed “charging system failure.” On 4/22/25, Nissan Dealership unable to reproduce limp mode despite my explicit instructions to quickly release clutch to stall, then restart. Critical loss of power on the highway nearly causing multi-car accident and personal injury. No warning lights. No notice of any kind. The car would not rev or accelerate regardless of gear or effort. Would not fix after trying to restart the car several times once I was able to get somewhere safe and calm down. This is the 5th time this has happened in 1,600 miles but 1st time on a +25 mph road, other times driving down the street to school. Brand new car purchased in August. 33 Nissan (dealer) has had the car over a week and cannot replicate or find any codes. Car is unsafe to drive, yet dealer states to "come and get it". Contacting attorney. This is NOT driver error: I have solely driven manual transmission cars for the past 20 years.

I purchased my NEW 2024 Versa S 5 speed on [XXX] from Jim Click Nissan Dealership in Tucson, AZ. I brought it in to Nissan dealership 2 months later [XXX], 4200 mi, for complaints of surging, fluctuating fan speeds with air conditioning on high. They claim they couldn’t reproduce problem. It continues to persist to this day as I write this on 4/20/25. I checked the alternator myself with multimeter on 4/12/25 & it revealed ACV ripple of 29-30 volts! Battery at rest 12.7 dcv, battery at idle 13.8 dcv, battery 13.9 dcv under load, and repeatedly producing same values on morning of [XXX], just minutes before bringing car in to Jim Click service appointment for follow up of fan fluctuations & request for alternator check up. However these data results conflict with Jim Click Nissan Dealership diagnosis on 4/18/25 service visit when they stated and documented that the charging system tests all passed & alternator is fine, and witnessed no a/c fan fluctuation. Thus no repairs done, and sent me on my way. As soon as I drove off the dealership lot on that [XXX] evening, the car lost power and went into limp mode as I accelerated out of the parking lot, and continued through 4 miles of local street traffic until I arrived home and shut off engine. After a few minutes I restarted engine so that I could video record same limp mode issue but the problem was not evident after this engine restart. This was the first episode ever experienced and it occurred at approximately 21,720 miles, and recurred again the following day after stalling from early clutch pedal release, followed by engine restart. The episodes happen on both flat surface and slight incline. The faulty alternator must have a part in this, as surging alternating current is causing sensor malfunctioning affecting a/c fan speed and ECU communication. Autozone alternator test on 4/19/25 revealed “charging system failure.” INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2024 Nissan Versa has acceleration problems. In less than 24 hours of having the car, when driving and without warning, the power of the vehicle began to decline while I was driving in traffic. It didn't matter how hard I pressed the acceleration the car would continue to power down. This caused cars to honk and swerve to avoid crashing in the back of me. It took many pumps to the accelerator to get the car to power to the speed of traffic again. The car also powers down to nothing intermittently if I am stopped at a red light on in rush hour traffic. Again, I am having to press the accelerator numerous times to get the car to work and with that, there is a jerking feel to it. Also within 24 hours, a service symbol appeared on the dash while driving and then went away within 30mins of driving. I took the vehicle back to the Nissan Dealership I purchased it from and they claim they did not find anything wrong.

I am uncertain exactly which vehicle component is causing the issue, but my headlights dim very low and the heat decreases while driving and when I accelerate both the headlights brighten and the heater returns to full blast. Nissan has categorized this as a "normal characteristic" of the vehicle after comparing it with to other exact models, which is the new 2024 Nissan Versa Manual S. They refuse to fix the headlights safety issue, even after I was able to show the tech by duplicating the problem a few times.

I just got my car yesterday. I was leaving work and my car had no power. I couldn't get up to speed for a very long time, it was as if it was in limp mode. I got home and scanned it and got a P2615 code. upon doing research I have found several others having this problem. It is very scary and dangerous to drive this way. Also, cleared the code and it runs fine until the next time. This problem needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt or worse.

Problem Description: Loss of acceleration in 5-speed manual S trim model. It seems that almost every time you stall this car, it will enter a "limp mode" or something like that, where your RPMs are capped for the rest of the drive, until you turn off the car and fully restart it. In this mode, even in 1st gear, you can go (from a stop) about 5 mph tops, if there is any incline. I am a new standard transmission driver, so stalling is at the moment not rare. This means my car enters this dangerous state often. 1. I am unsure what exact component(s) failed, or even if this is a fail rather than some intentional "safe" mode. 2. Because I live in the hill country, acceleration from a stop is almost nothing in this "limp" mode, which put me in a very dangerous situation. It caused me to crawl through an oncoming traffic lane as I was turning left into a turn lane, since I did not realize this mode had been activated. Had I been shooting a gap in traffic, I would have likely been hit at 70+ mph. 3. Not as of yet, but online research suggests this is not a new issue. 4. No. 5. No. This is a brand new car, and this limp state is not indicated by anything other than extreme loss of power until you reset the car.
Aug 11, 2024
The car is not safe to drive. The car enters limp mode, restricting the acceleration and RPMs of the vehicle. Driving on the highway in speed zones of 50-65 MPH puts the driver and other motorists at risk because the car cannot accelerate normally. Driving on back roads in speed zones <50 puts the driver and other motorists at risk because the car lacks the power and speed to climb hills. There are also many blind curves on the back roads, adding another hazard. There is no indication that the car has entered limp mode--no warning lights or messages. The only way to know that you're in limp mode is to experience the symptoms. This mode cannot be reliably entered in any single way. The stalling of the engine seems to be related; however, the car does not enter limp mode after every stall and limp mode isn't always entered after a stall. I have experienced the mode on the highway and on back roads. The onset of the mode has happened from initial start up and while driving. Acceleration and the ability to climb hills is impeded whenever this mode is engaged. 3 out of 4 times that I experienced the car entering this mode were preceded by a stall. One of the stalls occurred when the backup sensor mistakenly detected an object and the car automatically braked. The other two stalls occurred after the clutch had already been released. 2 out of the 4 times that I experienced the car entering this mode, the car had driven for 20+ miles before entering limp mode, including at highway speeds. The 1 instance that was not preceded by a stall, the car could not accelerate to highway speed and could not climb hills in any gear but 1st gear. The car stayed in this mode the first restart and only exited the mode after 15 minutes before restart. The last instance was 3/25/24. The Nissan Service Center where I brought the car to was able to replicate the issue by stalling the car in 3rd gear. The same service center entered the claim to Nissan on March 26, 2024.

This morning after a "cold start" to drive to work, I entered a primary road that takes me to the interstate. I noticed throttle input seemed "delayed". Once on the interstate while attempting to merge, the car had zero power. Full throttle in third, fourth and fifth gear allowed only 60mph. I drove about two miles to the next exit and made my way back home on secondary roads to my house. Once home, I scanned for DTC's with my scan tool. A P2615 was received, "Cam Position Signal Output Circuit Low" I cleared the code, started back on my drive to work, car performed as expected with no power loss. This is about a 40 mile drive. I have seen complaints of "power loss" after a stall. My cars symptom was after a cold start and no stall.

First this is an AUTOMATIC. NOT A MANUAL. Nissan Versa S. 14000 miles. Bought used. The vehicle will drive then all the lights on the dash will turn on. The tachometer will then go to zero and will no longer move. The vehicle will then only go 20 mph (limp mode). I can move to a parking lot. I will then attempt to start it and it will not even turn over. After about 10 to 15 attempts, it will start. The engine light will remain on. The dealership (of course) cannot duplicate the problem but we do have it on video happening. They also said it needs to happen when they drive it. Last time I only get a few miles down the road from the service center when it happened. Had to be towed back. This problem has occurred at least 5 times. Sometimes its just the engine light that turns on. Other times its all lights. It has gone into limp mode at least 3 times during operation.

My Nissan Versa 2024 began going into “limp mode” and the power is significantly reduced. The car barely accelerates and only on flat surfaces when this happens. The check engine light came on and I took it to the dealership and they changed the cam shaft sensor they believed to be the problem, however, when I drove it off the lot the power was still reduced and not what it is normally like. I took the car back and they told me it was unnecessary to drive it and it wouldn’t help them they know what’s going on. However, a few days later they decided to test drive it when it was working properly and they stated no problems with the vehicle. Nissan was contacted through the dealership and it was explained to me that the car is glitching and sending an unnecessary code causing the problem, but there is actually nothing wrong with the car and there’s nothing they can do. I drove the car in limp mode on the way home and it was dangerous merging on the highway going 35mph until it can pick up speed going down hill. Lack of acceleration and power pose a safety hazard for me and the people driving around me. This has all happened with a brand new car under 1000miles. The car does not go into limp mode every drive, but has been more often.

My 2024 Nissan Versa S goes into a "limp mode" almost any time I stall and then turn the engine back on. In this limp mode, acceleration is dangerously slow. Often acceleration is so weak that if I drive up a hill in this limp mode, the car will lose speed even while I'm pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor. This can easily be reproduced and inspected by purposely stalling the car in a quiet parking lot and then trying to accelerate out onto a road. In this mode I cannot reach safe speeds on major roads in a timely manner. I have to turn my hazards on and let people go around me as I accelerate for a full minute. On highways and major roads with higher speed limits this is quite dangerous. When stuck in this mode I do not have the ability to accelerate fast enough to get out of the way of any oncoming danger. If this mode turns on in a safe quiet area, I may be able to turn the car off and on until the issue goes away, but if I stall at a busy traffic light, I'm now in a dangerous situation until I can get off the road and to a safe spot to turn off the car and test that the limp mode has gone away. Also, turning the car off and on doesn't always work. I have on two separate occasions been stuck in limp mode for multiple drives. The Nissan dealership in Wake Forest, NC confirmed that they know about this issue and said they don't currently have a fix for it. A check engine light has turned on two times after entering limp mode, they erased the code and it has never come back since despite still going into limp mode.

My 2024 Nissan Versa 5 speed has gone into limp mode approximately 4 times in 6 months. When this happens you can’t accelerate which could be a great safety issue
Sep 09, 2024
On multiple occasions, the vehicle will randomly stall while in motion. Most recently, this occurred while I was on the on/off ramp of one major highway merging onto another highway; in the process of down shifting from fifth gear to third gear, the car stalled, while in motion, causing a complete loss in power steering and braking. I was able to restart the vehicle without incident, however, had I needed to suddenly maneuver or brake I would have been unsuccessful in either of these actions. This has happened more than once, there appears to be no rhyme or reason to this happening, which makes the situation far more variable as there is no way to anticipate or predict its occurrence. On one of these occasions, upon restarting of the vehicle there was a marked decrease in power output from the engine. This made accelerating to driving speeds take far longer than usual, which was an interesting situation as I was pulling into traffic when this occurred. This issue persisted for quite some time, in fact it took the restarting of the engine several times, including a few failed starts, before the proper power returned to the engine.

Vehicle would not accelerate past 55 MPH after stalling. No warning. Got on the highway and the car was extremely lagging and the accelerator produced no response. Floored the vehicle and still nothing. Had to pull over and cycle the key 5x to fix the issue. I have stalled a few times, and this was the first time to “limp mode” occurred. The vehicle can be inspected at request of NHTSA. I believe it’s a common issue with these Nissans based on what I’ve read from forums.

This vehicle has so many issues. If stalled, there is very limited power and cannot reach speeds up to 60mph and/or maintain speed while cruising on the highway. Restarting the car is the only way to remedy the issue. The vehicle's halogen headlights dim while cruising and brighten sustainably upon acceleration, which tells me the headlights dim dangerously low for night driving - HUGE SAFETY ISSUE!! The heater motor also dims while cruising and will also come to full blast during acceleration. I have taken this to Nissan of America, to which DTS deemed the vehicle is operating as designed. The design does not meet safety road standards. They have refused to repair the vehicle or get it to meet safety stands.

Sometimes whenever I first start the car or stall the car and restart it a false code is triggered that significantly reduces the power of the car. The car will not go much faster than 40 in this mode and accelerates extremely slow. Turning the car off and waiting for a minute before starting it has fixed this problem for me so far. I have seen other people online with this car reporting this same issue and it really is a safety issue when the car accelerates that slow. The vehicle has not been tested by anyone other than me. There are no other warning lights or problems prior to the incident.

My roof dents extremely easily and it seems after searching the internet this appears to be somewhat of a problem with this model and I am sure there is some type of pressure rating it should conform to to be safe? I had a pretty big dent appear out of nowhere one day on the car roof we noticed and not sure how it got there; like it just indented itself--no damage to paint, really looked like someone landed on it with their butt? I put just some relatively minor pressure on the roof to see about popping it out and dented it with my elbows when trying to test to pop it back out?

I have a manual transmission and can usually go up a steep hill by my house in 3rd gear. But on this occasion in 2nd gear I was unable to maintain speed even with the gas pedal all the way to the floor. It was also having trouble maintaining speed on less steep highway hills. The dealer replaced the alternator which helped, but I feel this puts my safety and others at risk because I was going much slower than expected and felt that I might not even be able to get up the hill. After the alternator was replaced, it has not happened again. There were no warnings then or after, but the dealer said there a code for fuel sensor that they could detect with their computer.

Rod, piston breaks and punctures tire after losing ability to steer, accelerate, brake. MANUFACTURER DEFECT/RECALL on stated parts not revealed until after car crashed. No test drive given. Car began experiencing horrible loud banging noise immediately after leaving dealership. WAS NOT OFFERED TO TEST DRIVE. Took to dealer next day to check problem (noise) and was told NOTHING IS WRONG after taking to dealer. On way home, experienced erratic steering, unable to keep stable on highway. Rounded corner and the automobile completely failed to steer, brake, tire punctured by rod come to find out, a known defect straight from manufacturer was problem. No apology. Dealer will not take back NEW vehicle despite customer fears, claims to have fixed problem but not the body of vehicle stating customer had to go elsewhere to fix body with NO OFFER OF REIMBURSEMENT FOR BODY WORK. No apologies for customer nearly escaping what could have easily been death as result of manufacturer defect. Purchased vehicle first without knowing of recall on part(s), was not informed of defect and if test drive was given, car would not have been taken by customer.

We’ve had our 2024 Nissan Versa that is an automatic transmission for over a year now and there has been some minor issues like headlights getting brighter as you accelerate, sometimes when it’s colder outside I’ve had the auto lights not work because of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems lights would pop on like they not working anymore. The heat seems to take FOREVER to get warm. Now the latest issue is with out any kind of warning whatsoever a friend and I went to the casino and spent about an hour or two inside came out to leave i had turn the key to acc and left it on like that for I don’t know maybe 10 mins before i was done checking gps and ready to leave ( mind you I’ve had in on acc before SEVERAL TIMES & for WAY LONGER) and it will not start! I am currently waiting on roadside assistance to come jump start the car and hopefully that’s all that’s wrong!

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

It's happened three times now that the car will simply fail to accelerate no matter how much the pedal is pushed. It is extremely dangerous because this has happened on the freeway and caused us to pull over and wait for the car to become responsive again. This is an automatic transmission. There doesn't seem to be an active recall for this and I can't understand why as I see online a lot of people reporting the same issue. This is dangerous and unacceptable for a new car. It was bought new off the lot and has minimal mileage.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
This Versa was purchased brand new with 6 miles on it, delivered 8/16/2024. Strong odor of fuel inside cabin after city driving about 90 minutes in 100+ degree heat with a/c (on either recirculating or fresh air) in [XXX] . So overwhelming, causing burning eyes, throat, and nose forcing me to shut off engine. Predictably occurs when outside heat is over 100 deg F. This occurred within only 30 days of purchase at about 1300 miles, and so far occurred 4 times thus far total since purchase date to present. It took me a few weeks to fully understand the root cause until inspection under hood revealed fuel leakage around fuel injectors where inserted in intake manifold, and possibly fuel rail. Brought car in to Nissan dealer that sold me it and they said they smelled no odor (most likely because engine was cold and they only test drove briefly) and found no leaks. No due diligence or urgency on their part, and it was after their dismissive response that I encouraged sent the service advisor photos of the leaky fuel taken from days prior, in order to be taken seriously and have it fixed with some urgency under warranty, as this leaky fuel on hot manifold can combust or leak into cylinders. New Versa delivered 8/16/2024. Rear seat belt alarm will NOT chime when 1,2, or 3 passenger(s) are seated in the rear without fastening their seatbelts. However when passenger(s) DO buckle in properly, the alarm falsely and unnecessarily chimes for 45+ seconds.

Vehicle loses power, ability to accelerate and is unable reach a speed above 35-40 mph regardless of gear (manual transmission) or downshifting, requiring you to pull off road; has occurred four times now. After turning vehicle off and restarting, operation is normal. Nissan dealer checked and pulled up a code regarding coded keys and reprogrammed keys; could not replicate the power/acceleration issue. Problem still re-occurred. There are no warnings, warning lights or symptoms until you accelerate.

Today (XXX), After shifting my manual 5 speed transmission into first gear it stalled. I restarted my car then proceeded to drive on the highway in a severely reduced power mode "Limp Mode". I could not reach highway speed and this created a very unsafe condition with tractor trailers behind me. The power loss only allowed speeds up to about 45 MPH. Acceleration was very slow. I will contact my Nissan Dealership in Erie, PA tomorrow. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The car went into limp home mode after it stalled. This is unsafe if I can't get up to speed on the highways because it puts me at risk of getting hit by other cars. I contacted the dealer about this, but they have not provided a fix yet. There were no warning lights, there was just reduced power. The only way to resume getting full power was to pull of the road to restart the engine.

Turning on my vehicle I had extreme loss of power. I will be taking it to the dealer tomorrow. It would not accelerate past 55 miles per hour when the gas petal was pushed all the way to the floor. When I pulled over and turned the car off the vehicle ran fine with Normal power. This is a brand new vehicle with 1000 miles on it. I got it with 3 miles on it
