I am reporting a recurring issue with my 2023 Genesis GV70 2.5 Prestige. The vehicle consistently shudders and shakes when driving between 40-45 mph under normal conditions—whether accelerating, cruising, or maintaining speed on various roads. This noticeable shuddering affects ride smoothness and is concerning. I brought this problem to the Genesis maintenance department at my local dealership. They inspected the vehicle but claimed no issue was detected. Despite their assurances, the shuddering persists every time I drive within that speed range. No repairs were attempted; I was told the vehicle was operating as expected. Researching online, I found numerous other owners experiencing the same issue. Forums, including Reddit discussions, are filled with accounts from frustrated owners. Many report that even after having their differentials repaired or replaced multiple times, the issue continues, suggesting a design or manufacturing flaw not being addressed. I am deeply concerned about the safety implications of this persistent shuddering. It affects vehicle handling and stability at common speeds, potentially leading to loss of control. The unpredictability leaves me anxious while driving, fearing a mechanical failure or accident. I do not want to be stranded due to this unresolved problem. This issue has significantly diminished my confidence in the vehicle and the brand. The stress and inconvenience are substantial, disrupting my routine and peace of mind. The inaction and lack of acknowledgment from Genesis add to my frustration. I am requesting a thorough investigation into this matter. The prevalence among other owners indicates a systemic problem needing prompt attention. I urge the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to investigate these complaints to ensure Genesis resolves this defect and safeguards its customers. I hope that by reporting this problem, steps will be taken to prevent potential safety hazards for myself and other owners.

We were driving up a mountain pass in a great deal of stop and go traffic. The engine died and a check engine light came on. It was difficult to get the engine started, but it did start. We called the genesis service line and they said that it was a warning and ok to drive but to take it into be looked at. We proceeded up the mountain pass slowly, but when we were out of traffic and needed to give the engine gas to accelerate up the hills, the engine would not speed up. We were driving on interstates where we could only go 25 mph up the hill when others were speeding by us driving 60+ mph so we had to drive with our hazards in the right lane and hope not to get hit. When going down the hills, the engine would speed up, but any hills meant the speed would decrease even when you were engaging the gas. According the warnings we receive via Genesis in my app, the problem was Diagnostic code P0087F0 and said it was powertrain and the subsystem was EMS. We took the vehicle into the dealer and they were unable to recreate the problem. They reset the computer to the manufacturer reset. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This should not be happening on a 2023 car with 5000 miles on it.

Transmission failure at 1558 miles. Replacement of transmission assembly is required. Dealership (Manly Genesis of Santa Rosa, CA) has the vehicle. No confirmation date of when parts and work will be completed.

No warning and no engine light when gas pedal is pressed down there is little to no acceleration. I was pulling out in the middle of traffic when this malfunction occurred. I could have been T-boned by oncoming vehicles and killed. It was not until I drove the vehicle a little longer that the engine light came on. The vehicles notification center showed a malfunction of the transmission. A diagnostic scan showed trouble codes P0763-Shift Solenoid C-Electrical and P0880-TCM Power Input Signal-Malfunction.

On 5 separate incidents, on two separate days, when traveling at highway speeds, the car lost power and began to decelerate. After a moment the engine died. In each case I was able to coast onto the shoulder but this is a serious safety issue. On 6 further incidents, the car lost power and died in other circumstances, including in a driveway immediately after starting up. These cases were not as dangerous as the highway failures. Check engine light does not come on. No codes thrown. Dealer will not inspect for another month. Dealer has not yet inspected. Fuel, all fluids, all general maintenance is in good condition. Vehicle has less than 14k miles. Car is available for inspection upon request.

On two separate occasions over a 6 month span the emergency braking system engaged while entering an underground parking garage. There were no vehicles in front or behind. The vehicle immediately engaged the brakes forced the vehicle to stop. Fortunately there were no injuries. I have opened a case with the manufacturer. I have read on blogs that others have experienced similar ghost braking issues. In their case the manufacturer and service technician claimed since nothing was recorded by the vehicle, there was nothing to be done. It is unacceptable for there to be no record of the emergency braking system engaging. Out is a core life safety protection. This issue should be investigated by the NHTSA to force the company to reevaluate the safety of their products.

Car does not detect collision, does not slow down approaching car in front during cruise control. Errors pop up daily that front radar blocked and collision avoidance is disabled. Cruise control error also pops up daily that front radar is blocked. Just got the car end of January. Had it to dealer twice. They still have it and don’t know how to fix it. It also stops all of a sudden at slow speeds when nobody is near me because it thinks a car is in front of me. Hurt my neck with this sudden stop three times. I have photos and videos of the errors Over many weeks.

On 3 occasions while driving under 30 mph with no proximate vehicles my car suddenly began to intermittently brake and the dash flashed "collision warning". In two of them, I was able to pull over and turn off the car and restart--the problem did not repeat. In the third instance I kept driving (bucking along at 10 mph) and after about 50 yards the warning went away. The dealer ran a scan and cannot find an issue. They tell me they have to see it while it happens. The car may be at the dealer for months as they will be driving it to see if they can replicate the issue.

I let off the gas and pushed the accelerator again and again before the car would accelerate. This has happened several times, once almost causing me to wreck. INCIDENT: Saturday, October 8, 2022 @ 5PM Sawyer Rd. and Red Arrow Highway, Sawyer, MI Driver: Peter LovelandMileage: 1,540 •Loss of power, unable to accelerate while turning north (right) on Red Arrow Highway from a full-stop on Sawyer Rd. •Electric motor noise; whirling or clicking sound •Right Turn Blinker, Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Lane Follow Assist (LFA) active •Traveling less than 10mph, able to pull to side of road. Placed car in Park and then back to drive again. Unable to accelerate above an estimated 10mph. •Pressed Genesis Connected Services button and agent recommended restarting engine. •Engine restarted; placed in Reverse first for a short distance and then placed into Drive. •Able to accelerate to road speed of 55mph and returned home.

While crossing through an intersection, the vehicle began to shutter and would not accelerate. I had just enough power to turn into a store parking lot where the vehicle lost all power, illuminated the battery warning light, and would not restart. After 30-45 minutes, the vehicle was able to start again using a jump box. I began a test drive around the parking lot and the vehicle shuttered again and lost all power while in the middle of the parking lot. At no point were we able to start the vehicle again however the battery continued to power the lights. Vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer. Prior to this there were a few instances where the vehicle either failed to start or failed to turn off after first pressing the Start/Stop button but I dismissed those as outliers since it would start up at the next activation. My vehicle lost power in the middle of a non-busy intersection and a quiet parking lot however this could've happened on a highway. Problem was confirmed by the nearby dealership Vehicle component has only been inspected by dealer No prior warning lights or messages other than what was mentioned.

Purchased the car 1/28/2023 and drove it off the lot with 20 miles on the odometer. Within the first 15 miles and merging onto a freeway, the motor cut out and we were almost rear ended. The sudden loss of power nearly caused a significant accident. We replicated the issue several times. We took the car to the dealership in our home state. We were told it was a fuel pump and water pump issue and they were seeing it in about 20% of the new cars. As of 2/17/23 we are still without our new car as it has been at the dealership since waiting for new parts. The dealership and the manufacturer knew of this issue and continued to sell and let people drive off their lots in potentially unsafe cars.

While driving on [XXX] from Houston to the San Antonio area, I heard a loud pop and a crack appeared on my top drivers side windshield. I was not behind any trucks or close behind any cars as traffic was light. There was no lose gravel and I did not hear or see a rock or other incoming object. The crack immediately spread to more than 6 inches, and over 12 inches by the time I arrived at my destination. There was/is no small starburst from which the crack spread as is usual when rock or pebble hits a windshield. It appears as if the windshield just split. I have gone online and found many similar complaints for this model car, some having to replace windshields multiple times over a short period, both with OEM and after market windshields, with the dealership replacements and third parties like Safelite. [XXX] At approximately [XXX] pm, while driving to Dallas, Texas, the car bucked numerous times while attempting to pass another car at approximately 65 mph. The GV70 then started to deaccelerate. The speed dropped to around 50 mph. I continued to press the accelerator, but the car would not accelerate but the engine was revving (RPM hit around 5000) and then dropped back down. I continued driving with the speed varying between 45 and 55 mph even with the accelerator floored. As I got closer to Dallas, I could get the speed up to 60 - 65 mph with the accelerator floored but then on any incline, the speed would drop back to 45 - 50 mph. I had to turn the hazards on several times as the speed was well below the other vehicles. There were no warning lights. I was able to get the GV70 into a dealer the next morning who kept the car for 2 days. They ran diagnostics and drove the GV70 but could not replicate the problem nor did the diagnostics sow anything. They thought that maybe the car reset when it was turned off. Engine, transmission/propulsion and or fuel system is impacted. Vehicle loses power and pressing the throttle doesn’t increase the engine rpms and or vehicle speed. It happens randomly at both city and highway driving speeds. It’s almost like the gears aren’t shifting or the vehicle doesn’t increase the speed. Sometimes a it would work fine after a key cycle. I’ve had a few instances of it and there’s no check engine light. I took a video of it from last night when it happened. It’s a big safety risk trying to pass other cars. On the freeway when it happens the vehicle doesn’t cross 60mph hour. It’s very delayed, and then if I cycle the throttle or change gears or downshift manually it’s jump 2000-3000 rpms and would still struggle to get past 80mph. I bought my vehicle in MI, noticed these issues on my current trip to FL. I intend to have a MI dealer diagnose it. Seems difficult without a check engine light or DTC.

Was driving on the highway at 70 mph. Oil light came on, noticed it without any loss of power. Within the next mile the cars rpms started to increase very quickly with little pressure being applied to accelerator and power loss started to begin. As I tried to get over and get to the next exit the car completely shut off in the middle of the road with little to no warning or time to react. Very dangerous. Thankfully was still able to steer and brake. I called help and had the state trooper blocking me on the road until the tow truck arrived. Massive puddle of oil & fluid on the ground under car.

While on trip traveling through Ft. Worth in heavy traffic my GV70 stopped responding to accelerator. As I was trying to get out of traffic and to side of road vehicle began to lurch and jerk forward spasmodically. I then noticed the car had gone into neutral on its own. While waiting for help the car would turn off. Sometimes would come back on. Vehicle was towed to dealership where it is waiting diagnostics. Could have been a deadly event.

The braking system of my 2023 Genesis GV70 has exhibited recurring failures, specifically the brake pedal and the ABS module. Since February 2025, the vehicle had ongoing brake pedal issues that required approximately 30 days of repair, during which the ABS module was replaced on April 24, 2025. The vehicle remains available for inspection in its current “as-is” condition as per manufacturer instructions until the Event Data Recorder (EDR) data is retrieved. On May 4, 2025—just 10 days after the ABS module replacement—the vehicle was involved in an accident. The unresolved braking issues likely contributed to the crash, directly endangering driver safety and that of others on the road. The dealer addressed the brake pedal and ABS issues during repairs, but no definitive resolution or independent confirmation has been made regarding the root cause. The problem persists as a potential safety hazard. The vehicle has been inspected by Progressive Insurance representatives. Initially, Genesis verbally approved my insurer’s certified third-party expert to retrieve the EDR data. However, Genesis reversed this approval and now insists that only their internal vendor may access the data, which could take 6–8 weeks—delaying independent investigation and resolution. This restrictive approach obstructs transparency and raises concerns about the integrity of the investigation. It has been three weeks since the accident and Genesis has yet to take steps to have the vehicle inspected or scheduled inspection. The police were involved at the time of the accident. Warning signs related to the brake pedal and ABS system appeared from February 2025, prompting the repair period and ABS module replacement. No new warnings appeared immediately before the accident, but the ongoing brake system issues clearly signaled a safety concern. Genesis has made no progress or scheduling effort, deliberately delaying while blocking my insurer from hiring a third party for timely investigation.

Genesis uses soy-based wiring in the engine without any rodent protection. We had rats chewing the wires in the engine last year in April, for $6.9k repair cost and again this year in February for $7.4k in repair cost. This car cost way too much to own, the repairs take about 5 to 6 weeks to complete, and most importantly this cat is a major safety concern to me and my family.

Several times now, my Genesis GV70 will make a strange sound on startup. The auto stop light will illuminate and I can't turn it off. The car will have no power to accelerate. I have to turn the car off and back on again for the problem to resolve.

I purchased this vehicle brand new in July 2023. By Jan 2024, it was already having major issues. The 2 major issues with this vehicle are 1) it had an engine misfire ( thus engine and fuel system issues) that cut the power to the vehicle and made it dangerous to drive and thus had to be in at the Genesis dealer service center 3 times (Jan, April and May 2024). The 2nd problem is electrical. On Oct 1st, 2024 the brake lights wouldn't turn off at all despite several troubleshooting attempts. That electrical problem drained the battery and after the car was jump started, after I started to drive, then the car cold died in the middle of the road. I had my 10 day old newborn in the car and I had to get out and stop cars that were driving towards me. Attached is the repair invoice for the engine misfire earlier this year and the car is currently at the repair facility for the electrical problem so no invoice has been generated yet.

The adaptive cruise control started pacing off vehicles in the right lane instead straight ahead. Then the vehicle's forward collision emergency brake system started engaging with no vehicles infront causing the vehicle to panic stop on its own for no reason. This panic stop could cause an accident, personal injury or death.

I had just started the car and driven less than half a mile in a 35 MPH zone when the acceleration gave out. Vehicle would not go over 20 MPH, engine did not rev up when gas pedal depressed. I came to red light and stopped, turned off the car and turned it back on and issue seemed to clear. I google and have learned this model and year are being recalled for this issue and fuel pumps replaced, but my VIN does not show up as under the recall. I'm now afraid to drive my car.

The contact stated while the dealer was servicing the vehicle, the contact was informed that there was a hole in the turbo cooler and that the turbo cooler was leaking. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was caused by a rock that was able to pass through the front grill because the front grill holes were large. The contact was awaiting an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,500. The VIN was unavailable.

I purchased a new 2023 Genesis GV70 on [XXX] from the Genesis Janesville dealership. Within 3 months of driving the car, and less than 5,000 miles on the car, the breaks started to squeak. After approximately 8,000 miles, the all audio in the car malfunctioned and has not worked properly since. Additionally, I was driving on the interstate and the E brake engaged automatically (without engaging myself) and the car immediately deaccelerated from 75 miles to 35 miles within 3 seconds. Fortunately, it was early in the morning and there was no traffic, but if there was, it would certainly be life threatening. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Genesis dealership after the incident in Waukesha and dropped it off with their service team on [XXX]. The service manager (Derek) called me after dropping the vehicle off and noted that the emergency brake also malfunctioned when he was taking the car to the technicians. The service team indicated on [XXX] that they still have not found a solution to the audio issue. They also said they simply reset the car and after a 25 mile test drive the emergency brake did not go off and therefore the car should be safe to drive. Given the car has less than 10,000 miles and is already experiencing several issues, I strongly caution anyone from buying this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle on February 27, 2023 from Genesis Johnson of Cary. When driving the vehicle away from the dealership (less than 200 miles) between 2/27/23 and 3/4/23, I started smelling a foul odor that smelled like fumes, burning, stale water. I contacted the dealership regarding these issues. I purchased an extended warranty. I was told that they could not help me. I read my contract that stated I could take the vehicle to any authorized dealership. During the time I drove the vehicle, there was massive amounts of rain. I told my sales person (Jim) that I thought something was terrible wrong. I am a person with multiple disabilities and am diagnosed with De quervain's disease, peripheral neuropathy, costochondritis, anemia, asthma, chronic rhinitis, PTSD, OCD, anxiety, depression and ganglion cysts. I requested an accommodation regarding sterilizing/ replacing the cabin filters. The dealership refused. To date, I do not know where the vehicle is located. The owner of the dealership where I purchased it (Carl Johnson) was notified. He harassed / retaliated while I was being medically treated in Louisiana, North Carolina, Florida and Georgia. To date, they still have my down payment, and have taken the vehicle and will not tell me where it is. Their attorney, Lee C. Hodge, also bullied / harassed /retaliated against me and threatened me with fees. Genesis Johnson of Cary refuses to refund my down payment of over six thousand dollars. My medical bills are substantial. The attorney for the dealership (Lee C. Hodge) continues to refuse to provide documentation regarding why his customers refused to honor the warranty I purchased and service the vehicle. My skin, lungs, hands, fingers, legs, arms have been severely damaged because of this vehicle. The same day I took the vehicle for service, I literally was standing at the service desk taking medication to help me breathe. The service director, Lemar, at Capital Hyundai also threatened me.

Experienced acceleration problem with my brand new Genesis GV70, only 7 mos. old. I backed car out of garage and onto my street, put car in "drive" and pressed down on gas to move forward, but car would not accelerate. This was only for a split second, and then it started to accelerate. It was strange, though, and had never happened before. I continued on my route and as I was entering an onramp to get on freeway, car would not accelerate again. Car maintained 20mph speed but would not go any faster as I pushed down on the gas peddle. I was able to pull off to side of the ramp. I turned engine off and restarted car, tried to move forward again, but again would not accelerate. Turned car off again, restarted, and this time, I was able to accelerate. Very scary to think of this happening if I was already on freeway with cars going 70+mph. I took car to dealership and they checked everything out, and did not find anything wrong with the car. They were not able to replicate the issue. I am now concerned because I was not imagining this happening and it was very scary. I am aware that some prior year Genesis models had problems like this and Genesis/Hyundai have issued recall notices, but not for my 2023 model. It seems to me that there is still an issue with the 2023 models, as I have read of similar cases like mine on several genesis owner forums. I don't know how many people have to report the issue before it is deemed a safety concern. Does someone have to be severely injured or die first? I am afraid to drive my brand new car.

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred while driving 2 hours later. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 9,092.

I purchased the vehicle on March 30, 2023, & my Check engine light has been on eleven times since June 2023. I was involved in a car accident on August 25, 2023, where the car appeared to have no gas. However, gas was in the vehicle, and the brakes were not operating correctly as I had to continue pumping the brakes to stop the vehicle. Furthermore, there is over $15k in damages and counting. I have been placed off work due to the injuries sustained in the vehicle accident due to the negligence of the manufacturer & dealer. I have left several messages for my Case Manager, [XXX] for several days, with unsuccessful attempts. [XXX] finally contacted me on 8/30/2023 @ 3:08 pm, apologizing for Genesis not living up to the “white glove” expectation advertised, and then she asked me what she could do for me. The call with [XXX] lasted 7-8 minutes. However, I constantly repeated myself, informing her of the information I stated in this email regarding my check engine light; my vehicle was serviced on Friday, June 30, 2023 (See Service History Below). Since then, the check engine light has illuminated nine other times with some of the same and or different codes. I had an appt to return my vehicle to the same dealership for the second time since June, as the dealership had the car for approximately eight/nine days. On August 12, 2023, I scheduled an appt. Per the system availability of August 25, 2023, @ 10 a.m. for Valet Pick-up. For confirmation of the scheduled appointment, I called GenesisCare on 8/23/2023, and the rep informed me that they did not have an appointment for me in the system. Furthermore, on several occasions, when I have attempted to make an appointment, the system does not recognize the appointment scheduled via the app or desktop. I was only informed about the technical issues with the software application via phone and desktop when I spoke with the service manager [XXX] ) Genesis of Atlanta. The accident occurred 8/25/2023. I called the Genesis dealer on 7/20/23 as my car had 3 random incidents where the accelerator failed to respond as I came out of a turn at about 20 mph. After my appointment was set, that evening the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road with no warning. Had to restart car. This was a scare and dangerous situation. Car taken to dealer 7/21/23 for repair. I was told the water pump and sensor were replaced on a 11 month old car. I received my car back from the Genesis dealer on 7/26/23 and two days later, Friday, 7/28/23, the problem continued. While turning into the median to merge into traffic, I pressed the accelerator and the gas pedal stopped responding as the vehicle rapidly slowed down to stop in the road. Pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate the car did not help any as I felt like I was pumping air. I had to put on my hazard lights, move back into the median, and put the car in park. No warning lights on the car came on. I drove the car home (less than 2 miles) with the hazards lights on and called roadside to tow the car back to the dealership. it is very concerning to me that my GV70 continues to have a malfunction with slowing down or stopping without responding to the acceleration pedal. This puts me and my family’s safety at risk and is dangerous given than the car randomly and abruptly stops or slows down rapidly while I’m driving in traffic. The unreliability of the vehicle has me fearful of driving this vehicle. The repair made last week by replacing the water pump did not correct the defect with the GV 70. The vehicle is currently at the dealership in an effort to find the cause of the malfunction. Also, I noticed that the dealer paperwork given to had the problem I reported restated as a minor issue.

Catastrophic failure of a brand new 2023 Genesis GV 70 on 6/6/23. The GV70 was purchased on 4/29/23 with 22 miles. It was not driven between 5/12/23 and 5/26/23 while I was out of the country. On the evening on 6/6/23 as I was merging onto the northbound lanes of the Baltimore Washington Parkway from I-295 DC, the vehicle violently shook, burning smell, and then shut off completely, including the steering column. I was able to partially drift to a right shoulder with the driver side of the vehicle still in a lane of traffic. I called the U.S. Park Police for assistance crawled over to the passenger side and put my seatbelt on in case the vehicle was hit. The USPS arrived and immediately blocked a lane of traffic and called Maryland DOT for further assistance because of the hazardous situation. Could not be towed because it would not stay in neutral. It then with no one in it started on its own, smoke coming out of exhaust and burning smell. I contacted manufacturer 6/6/23. To date, Genesis has not been able to tell me the cause of the catastrophic failure or has been able to fix the problem. I was put in a terrifying and dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV70. The contact stated while driving into a parking space, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed. On another occasion while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle was pulling and failed to drive straight in the middle of the lane. The contact turned off the Lane Keep Assist feature however, the feature independently reactivated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 21,000.

After my test, here's what I found: If the cruise control is Off and you press and hold the cruise control button for more than 2 seconds, the speed limit function activates as indicated by the "Limit" indicator on the multi-function display. In this mode, if the vehicle speed exceeds the limit speed and you press on the gas, the power is immediately cut off, and you can't accelerate. If the vehicle exceeds the limit speed, a warning bell will sound, and the speed will flash and power is cut when pressing on the gas. If the cruise control is ON, and you press and keep holding the cruise control button, sometimes the car will begin to slow below the set speed and continue to slow, even after releasing the cruise control button, and sometimes the cruise control will remain engaged after releasing the button. In this scenario, if you press on the gas to accelerate, the power is cut out and nothing happens even though you are below the limit speed. To restore power, you have to press and release the cruise control button to deactivate the cruise control. It's as though the cruise control gets into a mode where it won't hold speed, and pressing on the gas does nothing. This seems like a software bug. The above scenarios only happen when the cruise control is ON. Power is always available when the cruise control indicates that it is not activated or when in "Normal" (non-limit) mode when active. It seems counterintuitive that accelerating manually by pressing on the gas is overridden when in the "Limit" mode. I don't know if this is a design feature or a flaw. The vehicle lost power several times in traffic - and at that time do not believe the cruise control was being used The dealer says they cannot ascertain the problem and have referred it to an executive higher-level
