How to read a Genesis G80 VIN — every digit explained
Every Genesis G80 carries a unique 17-character VIN stamped at the factory. Each position is a code — together they spell out where, when and how your car was built. Here's exactly what every digit means.
- WMI (1–3) — country & manufacturer. 4T1 = Toyota, built in the USA.
- VDS (4–8) — model line, body style, engine & restraint system.
- Check digit (9) — a math check that proves the VIN is genuine.
- Model year (10) — the year it was built. H = 2017.
- Plant (11) — which factory assembled this G80.
- Serial (12–17) — the unique sequential production number.
Model-year code (10th digit)
The 10th character is the model year. It cycles through letters and numbers, skipping I, O, Q, U, Z and 0 to avoid confusion:
Where to find your G80 VIN
- Dashboard — driver's side, visible through the windshield from outside.
- Driver's door jamb — on the manufacturer sticker when you open the door.
- Paperwork — vehicle registration, title and insurance card.
- Engine bay & frame — stamped on the firewall or chassis on many models.

This is a follow-up to complaint #11714226 regarding an ongoing safety defect. The defect has now resulted in a crash. The vehicle experiences repeated unintended braking at highway speeds (50–79 mph) without driver input and with no obstacles present. During multiple events, the steering becomes temporarily unresponsive or “locked,” preventing driver control. The vehicle has also exhibited unintended lane departures, erratic lane changes, and unexpected acceleration following braking. Warning indicators including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Assist, and Master Warning have illuminated without cause. This vehicle has been presented three times for repair attempts specifically for these braking and steering systems and has been out of service over 30 cumulative days. The manufacturer was unable to duplicate or repair the defect and returned the vehicle unrepaired. On March 12, 2026, Genesis Corporate (Case Manager Terrence) stated they were coordinating with Genesis of Selma to schedule a fourth repair attempt. However, on March 26, 2026, Mike at Selma Genesis stated via text: “We as a dealer won’t be working on your car.” This directly contradicts Genesis Corporate and has prevented further repair attempts. I am writing to formally report a serious safety defect in my Genesis vehicle and to request immediate investigation, documentation, and corrective action. Following a recent crash event, my vehicle’s diagnostic scan revealed DTC B1378, which is associated with a fault in the airbag system circuitry. This code is widely recognized as an indicator of an airbag defect and is consistent with conditions that warrant manufacturer recall. During the crash: - Multiple airbags deployed, - The steering‑wheel airbag did NOT deploy, - The SRS system recorded a crash severe enough to trigger other airbags, - The vehicle now displays B1378, confirming an internal fault. The failure of the primary driver airbag to deploy during a crash is a critical safety malfunction. Combined with the presence of B1378, this raises substantial concerns regarding a defective airbag module, wiring harness, or sensor — all of which fall under manufacturer responsibility and federal safety standards. I am requesting the following: Immediate corrective action, including repair or replacement of all defective components. Documentation of this issue in your internal safety‑defect tracking system. Given the severity of this failure and its implications for driver safety, I am also submitting this information to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for review. Please confirm receipt of this letter and provide a written response outlining the next steps. 1-the steering wheel airbag failed to deploy during a collisiom while all other airbags `airbags including rear seat airbags -did deploy. This suggest a possible malfunction in the airbag control module steering wheel airbag unit or sensor system. **yes the vechcle is available for inspection by genesis, nhtsa, or any authorized party. 2. As the driver i was at direct risk the steering wheel airbag is designed to protect the head and chest in a frontal collision. Its failure to deploy left me vulnerable to impact with the steering wheel and dashboard. The lack of deployment has worsed the outcome 3. Not yet i am seeking a diagnostic scan from genesis - certified dealer to confirm the failure and identify any fault codes in the airbag system. 4. The vehicle is being assigned to an ajuster but not yet by genesis or nhtsa. I am requesting a formal inspection by genesis and will provide access to the vehicle. 5. There was no warning lights or messages prior to the incident. 6. I was navigating a turn when a deer entered the roadway i swerved and the front right wheel became struck causing me to strike an embankment. The control arm broke and the impact triggered full airbag deployment including rear seat airbags but not the steering wheel airbag based on the severity and location of the impact, the steering wheel airbag should have deployed. I believe this failure may be due to a sensor malfunction or defect in the airbag system. This raises concerns regarding the reliability of the vehicle’s safety mechanisms, as the absence of steering wheel airbag deployment during such a significant frontal impact posed a serious risk to driver safety.
Oil light keeps coming on suddenly, I looked online and there are many people who have had the same issue. It's only intermittent, and turns off when moving and turns on when idle. The first time it came on was when I was crawling on a first time in forever frozen Alabama road. I was very careful not to start sliding, and when the sign came on I panicked and ended up in a ditch. The safety issue comes from not knowing if this is a sensor issue or an actual oil issue. Most people stated that it was a sensor issue but to replace it, you must access inside of the motor.
The entire instrument panel/cluster went out while driving. It did come back on after going totally black. We had no ability to see speed, fuel, or any cameras. This happened yesterday, May 13, 2025. We are trying to get an appointment at the dealership to address it. There does not appear to be any error codes recorded by the vehicle for this event, according to the app. It appears that this problem is the same as an existing recall for G80 vehicles through 2024. Genesis and NHTSA needs to add 2025 models to this recall (026G)
The contact owns a 2023 Genesis G80. The contact stated that after a routine maintenance, the “Service Required” warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer who was unable to reset the warning light. The vehicle was diagnosed that the computer in the back of the radio needed to be replaced. The part was ordered but was defective. While driving the Navigation system, door locks, and radio became inoperable. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer where the part was replaced. While driving, the battery discharged message was displayed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer provided a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
The driver seat module was defective, it was replaced & is still not working properly. It works sporadically. The navigation system freezes sporadically, the instrument display panel gives incorrect information. The Speed Limit Display indicated "34" when the heated seat feature was turned on, but the posted speed limit was 55. Information sent to the vehicle by GCC was never located, not sure if the navigation system did not receive the information. Concerned for short-circuit issues with the electrical system which may cause a fire.
I purchased a 2022 Genesis G80 RWD 2.5T Prestige. After driving the car for less than 500 miles I got a message on my dash board that said " Check Lane Change Assist Function" it had a picture of the road and a left and right arrow on, along with a triangle and the information icon inside it. After 20 seconds the 15.5 Navigation screen goes completely blank. The screen controls more than the Navigation. It had done this routinely everyday. We are very nervous about driving the car not knowing what else electronically could go wrong. I took it back to the dealer and they said they have no idea what is wrong. They told me that I was not the only person whom has came in to the dealership with the same issue. The dealer has no idea how to make any repairs I have pictures of the dash when both events happen if you would like them.
The windows do not roll down or up from any of the switches. this was taken in for a warranty repair and after i received the vehicle back. it worked for a day and has now began to do the same intermittent working and not working. where more often than not i am unable to roll the windows down. Along with the memory seat function not recognizing any presses. On vehicle pickup, the memory seat function was not working, the technician immediately hooked his tools up and reset something and got it working again. They said they had replaced a harness to get the door switches working properly. However the same issue has not started again. leading me to believe that was not the cause of the issue. Like before trying to roll the windows down from either the drivers master switch or any of the passenger door switches results in no operation conditions. randomly it will start working for a bit but than go back to inoperable. This problem has been occurring since i got the car and will be calling the dealer back again to express the dissatisfaction and failure to repair what they claimed to have fixed. It has already spent just under 2 months in the shop out of the 3 months that i have owned the vehicle.
All lights warning lights illuminate and gauges stop working. Loss of functionality includes critical control and safety systems and features: •No Speedometer •No Turn Signals •No Tachometer •Odometer not recording miles •Airbag warning •Electric power steering system warning •Steering and driving assist failure •Brake System Failure Warning •ABS Failure Warning •Collision avoidance system failure (forward and rearward) •Check engine •AWD system warning •Lane keep and lane change assist system failure •Blind spot monitoring system failure •Reverse and surround view camera failures •No infotainment or radio control on center stack •Windows and trunk release inoperable •All in-car electronics •On-board maintenance system warnings, random resets All off the above failures occurred without any prior indication of an issue, while vehicle was in motion and being driven on public roads with other drivers and vehicles nearby. These are repeat and reoccurring issues, first appearing at approximately 3,900mi on 01/20/2022. This vehicle is not safe to be driven. It is a danger to its driver (me) and passengers, and also all other nearby vehicles and pedestrians. It remains at Genesis of Akron, despite the inability to be repaired. On November 18, 2022 they required me to turn in the loaner I had been given and I was informed neither Genesis of Akron nor Genesis USA will provide safe transportation during the arbitration or lemon investigation period(s).

Engine engine undercover is not on the vehicle
I took my car in to have a recall repair completed. A relay kit was added to the engine compartment and my car has not operated the same since. When I start my car now it idles rough and is making noises that it wasn’t making before. When I accelerate my car stalls and is sluggish. Also when I accelerate my car stalls and speeds up uncontrollably, which is a concern for safety. I’ve contacted the dealership where this repair was completed and told them all the issues I’ve been having since the repair was completed. They keep stating that there is nothing wrong. I’ve spoken with Customer Relations and the Regional Manger only to get no assistance. I’m concerned about my safety and how this repair will affect my extended warranty because my engine has been altered. I wasn’t having any of these issues until this repair was completed and the dealership seems not to care or taking this seriously. The Regional Manager didn’t call me back until maybe a week or so after I kept constantly calling and advising that I was going to go to the news and get a lawyer. This issue has not been resolved.
At just 41,000 miles, the oil pressure sensor has failed. There are many on-line reports of this issue going back several years for the Genesis G80 sedan. It appears this is NOT covered under the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty and is only covered by the 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty. In my case, this part failed almost 5 years to the day. It is unreasonable that the owner should get stuck with a $1000+ repair bill for a part that has a well known failure reported over and over. This should be a free repair.
Oil pressured sensor went bad $2500 fix from dealer. In Korea this is a recall. The Genesis forums are full of complaints regarding same issue. The factory should cover this but the 10 year 100000 mile warranty does not cover it since it is considered an electrical part.
Recall number 1 from 2022 was just complete at Homer Skelton Hyundai in Olive Branch Mississippi on around [XXX]. Now this 2024 recall which is major involving over 30,000 vehicles as of today with the fire hazard is very very suspect. I received a letter 5 months ago and have not been able to drive my car because I may die. THAT'S THE TRUTH. Genesis has ceased all communication with myself and countless others, have not found a resolution and has directed us not to reach out to them again. They will not provide a rental car not any assistance and options. I want to speak with an Attorney. My daughter purchased this vehicle not even a year ago, paid cash for it and I only drove it less than 3 months. Genesis has billions I'm sure and they should not be able to get away with this. Just greedy and do not care. If those Asian Engineers can scam upon all kinds of secrets and violations with the United States I'm sure they can find a solution to this they are just trying to be cheap. I am furious that I have to ask people to take me everywhere for over 5 months. Being a woman of a particular age and on disability. What are the next steps? [XXX] ....... Component: Engine / Turbocharger / Oil Line / Fire Risk Vehicle Problem: For the past five months, my oil light has been coming on and off sporadically (not flickering), even though mechanics and oil shops said there was no issue. A few days ago, the car started smoking out of nowhere, though it wasn’t overheating and there were no visible signs of leakage. I took it to the shop, and they diagnosed a turbocharger oil supply pipe leak that is severe and poses a fire risk. I am in a new city with no support system and have a baby. Multiple car dealerships have refused to fix my vehicle, even though I have been informed this part is under recall. I have tried calling and visiting, and no one will help. This is a safety concern, especially since the vehicle is at risk of catching fire while driving.
Engine while driving inadvertently stalls and vehicle shuts off. Does not matter what the conditions are. Have to place vehicle back in park and completely shut down vehicle to restart. It first starts by engine slowing down and then engine speeding up and ultimately stopping. When placed in park vehicle lungs forward slightly and front sensor tends to go off in warning without a vehicle in front of
There are two safety recalls, one for the starter and one for the turbo oil supply line, both have potential for a fire concern and the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner.

I was involved in an auto accident. The front driver side quarter panel was hit. No airbags deployed in either car. Immediately upon the collision, i tried to stop the car, but it accelerated on it's own. The car would not stop. I made a split decision to pull into a parking lot and then contemplated driving the car into a tree to stop it. I then decided to drive over a curbed divider that had a 3 foot hedge. I got the car to stop 8 feet after running over the hedge. I have no idea what happened, but did have a clear thought process to get the car to stop. I opted to run over a 3 foot box hedge instead of into a tree. I have no clue why the car accelerated the way it did. The car is now considered a "total loss".
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 hyundai genesis g80. While driving 55 mph, the contact's vehicle was involved in a front end collision with another vehicle. The contact initially depressed the brake pedal, but the automatic emergency braking (aeb) feature did not activate. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The "check aeb system" warning indicator illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 8,300. *tt *tr
I was pulling into the driveway and put on the brake, and the brakes did not respond. The car crashed thru the garage door. I put the car in reverse, but it didn't respond. It took about 5 seconds for it to engage. Then once it engaged in reverse, it was out of my control, as the car shot back at a high speed, bounced up a curb and hit the neighbor's deck. Again, the brakes were not responding to stop the car. There were burn rubber marks showing the speed of the reverse. I felt the car had control not me. This time it also took several seconds for the car to engage in drive. When it did, the car shot forward back into the garage and only stopped because it could go no further due to the collapsed garage door and the contents underneath. The brakes had not responded again. I was able to put the car in park after this ricochet event. I believe the car has a manufacturing malfunction and is dangerous not just to me but to everyone else on the road, be it driving or walking. *tt *cn
While driving at highway speeds (55–73 mph), the vehicle has repeatedly and unexpectedly applied the brakes on its own and on at least one occasion experienced a loss of power. These events occurred without any vehicles, pedestrians, or obstacles present, and without any driver input. Road and weather conditions did not warrant braking. On multiple occasions, the vehicle suddenly decelerated while adaptive cruise control was engaged, then immediately re-accelerated back to the set speed. This created a serious risk of being rear-ended or involved in a high-speed collision. On one occasion, the vehicle experienced a loss of power while driving at highway speed, requiring immediate driver intervention to avoid a dangerous situation. These incidents make the vehicle feel unpredictable and unsafe to operate as intended. I regularly transport family members, and these failures place my safety and the safety of others at significant risk of serious injury or death. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Genesis dealership on two separate occasions. Despite extended road testing, the dealership has stated they were unable to reproduce the issue and no permanent repair has been performed. The manufacturer has been notified, and the defect remains unresolved. No warning lights or messages were present prior to the incidents. The failures occur suddenly and without advance indication.
I am submitting this report to document a serious and dangerous safety defect involving my Genesis G70. Note - Your system pulls my VIN as a G80, I own a G70. On two separate occasions, the vehicle applied braking without driver input and abruptly veered to the left, despite there being no obstacles, vehicles, or road hazards present. During the first incident, the vehicle was operating in Comfort mode with Lane Assist enabled. During the second incident, the vehicle was operating in Sport mode with Lane Assist disabled. In both cases, the braking felt as though it was applied to the front-left wheel, causing an immediate and forceful deviation of the vehicle to the left. Both incidents occurred while the vehicle was traveling at speed and required immediate corrective action. I was forced to divert the vehicle onto the shoulder to avoid a potential collision. My family was present in the vehicle at the time. Had there been a vehicle in the adjacent left lane during either event, a collision would have been unavoidable. No warnings, alerts, or visual indicators were displayed prior to or during either incident EXCEPT late / after or during about Checking Lane Safety Warning There were no objects, lane intrusions, or traffic conditions that would justify autonomous braking or steering intervention. I am reporting this issue as a critical safety defect that poses a serious risk of collision, injury, or fatality. I am also reporting the issue to my authorized dealer, Global Auto Mall (Route 22, North Plainfield, NJ), for immediate inspection and diagnosis. I am aware of other similar reports involving this behavior and believe this issue warrants investigation. I am submitting this complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to document the defect and to help prevent potential injury or loss of life.
Vehicle Information: * Year: 2021 * Make: Genesis * Model: G80 * Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): [XXX] ] * Mileage at time of incident/problem start: Approximately 26,377 miles Problem Description: The issue began around [XXX]. When pressing the brake pedal, whether the vehicle is completely stopped or while driving, a distinct clicking or ratcheting sound is heard. The sound is clearly audible inside the cabin and is slightly louder when listening under the hood. The sound appears to be originating from an area near a valve or other component (possibly related to the brake booster or ABS system). The sound is always present when the brake pedal is depressed, regardless of the amount of pressure applied (whether pressed firmly or smoothly) or the state of the engine (the sound occurs even when the engine is off). Currently, the brakes function and the vehicle is able to stop. There are no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard indicating a fault in the brake system or any other system. Actions Taken So Far: The vehicle has not been taken for service regarding this specific issue yet. I have a scheduled appointment with an official Genesis dealer on the upcoming [May 7, 2025] to have the problem inspected and diagnosed. Reason for Submitting This Report: Although the brakes are currently functional, this unusual and persistent sound from the brake pedal is a significant concern and suggests a potential malfunction in a core component of the braking system. Since brake issues directly relate to the safety of the occupants and other road users, I have decided to report this potential defect to NHTSA for documentation and to contribute to any future investigations regarding the safety of the 2021 Genesis G80 model. Car come out of allignment cause eccesive wear on inside of rear tires. Caused blowout on the interstate that almost caused an accident. When turning, steering wheel sticks and does not return to center. It is necessary to use some additional effort to force the wheel back to center. No warning lamps or diagnostic trouble codes. Clear safety issue that has been documented by numerous other owners of the Genesis G80, and a known issue by Hyundai Motors / Genesis, as they will replace the Rack Mounted Motor-Driven Power Steering Assembly under the manufacturer's warranty. My vehicle is a few months out of warranty, with estimated repair cost of approximately $5k. For all owners of a 2018 Genesis G80, the warranty should be extended to cover this defective part, or a safety recall instituted. See Genesis TSB # 20-ST-004HG.
Steering wheel stays in the turned position and must be pulled back to return the wheel to center. Genesis is aware of this problem and has issued a Technical Service Bulletin #20-ST-004HG on 10/2020. Genesis only covered the repair to vehicles while under original warranty which is now expired for all 2018 Genesis models.
My 2018 G80 3.8L HTRAC steering is sticking. When I turn the steering wheel slight right, like through a 25mph curve, the wheel will stay in that position until, I pull it back to straight.
When taking long curves, the steering wheel binds in the direction of the turn, causing oversteer. Requires driver to make an exaggerated movement to return to property steering. When this occurs the steering wheel will not return to center without driver intention. This occurs whether the lane assist is on or off. It also does not seem to be temperature driven, as it happens in the heat and cold. Vehicle is out of warranty. Took to local mechanic and although was able to replicate, was not able to provide an explanation without the expense of completely tearing down steering components. I noticed it first starting to occur after I purchased it used in October 2022. It still occurs multiple times a day.
Since August of 2022 , every time I go over road imperfection my steering shakes badly , even though it is intermittent , every time I bring it in to the dealer they cannot seem to replicate it, it is getting worse to the point that I know when it is going to happen . When turning on the car, the right side of the dashboard (digital panel) will not turn on, it will not display rpm, gas or speed. The turn signals are not making the click noise. The issue happens randomly and I haven’t been able to replicate it in the presence of the dealer. Once the dashboard is back on the service engine light will come on and a service code is noted on the diagnostic system. This has been ongoing since the car was brand new, the first instance at 1,200 miles
Any time I step on the gas to accelerate from the current speed to by pass a car (by changing lanes), the transmission down shift to third gear and does not Up-shift causing the car to reach the top speed of the 3rd gear which is slower then the speed before the shifting occured. This episode causes the car behind me to have a knee jerk reaction and could result in rear ending me or trying to avoid an impact with me by abruptly changing lanes and possibly hitting incoming cars............. the first time it happened to me I only got the finger which I gladly accepted considering the alternative... I do hope that this is an isolated incident but I wanted to report it to ahve it on record in case it happens to other drivers.

The contact owns a 2018 Genesis G80. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the transmission would erroneously switch from drive(D) to neutral(N). The contact indicated that the failure mainly occurred after driving in reverse and then shifting to drive(D). Also, while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel remained seized and would not return to the center without additional force being applied. The failure had occurred while turning in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure; no service was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 25,000. The contact has stated that the correct mileage at the time of failure is actually 31,158. All issues with the vehicle have been resolved.
1. Stationery. Approximately 50% of the time when i switch gears from reverse to drive the gear slips into neutral. It takes 2-3 attempts and then finally stays in drive. One time i had to put car in park and then shift into drive because it would not stay in drive. This happens even though i am pressing firmly on the brake and am pushing the shift button. 2. While car is moving. 3 times since i have owned this vehicle the following has happened while i am driving on city streets and highways. When i am driving, and i gently apply the brake in order to make a turn and then accelerate in order to complete the turn and merge onto the street or highway, without my realizing it the transmission has slipped into neutral and the vehicle will not accelerate. The genesis dealership and genesis corporate have both indicated it's my imagination and that nothing is wrong with the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2017 Genesis G80. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost power for approximately 2-3 seconds. The contact stated that there was a loud thump when the transmission shifted gear. The vehicle was taken a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission was shifting rough between 2nd to 3rd gear and 4th to 5th gear. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I heard a loud pop and tires was blowing while driving on the street loss control of the car and into a ditch
Description of Incident: The car was sold with a passenger-front Dunlop tire that suffered a critical structural failure where the tread rubber completely wore away, leaving the internal metal cords and plies exposed (visual evidence attached). I was unknowingly operating the vehicle in this hazardous condition for 136 miles of highway and local driving until the defect was fully identified on February 14th. Component Availability: The tire was removed from the vehicle on February 14th by an independent service center during the emergency purchase of four new tires. While the physical tire was left for disposal at the service center, high-resolution photographs of the failure are available and attached to this report for inspection. Safety Risk: The vehicle was sold in an unsafe and illegal condition (IL Vehicle Code 625 ILCS 5/12-405). The exposed structural metal plies created an imminent risk of a high-speed blowout or catastrophic tread separation, endangering both the occupants of my vehicle and other motorists. Confirmation/Inspection: The problem was confirmed by a certified technician at an independent service center on February 14th, who identified the tire as unfit for service. The selling dealer (Jidd Motors) was notified of a defect on February 6th but refused to replace the tire. This incident has also been reported to the Illinois Attorney General and the Illinois Secretary of State Police (Dealer Operations). Warning Symptoms: There were no warning lamps, TPMS messages, or symptoms prior to the physical discovery of the exposed metal. The tire maintained air pressure despite the severe structural compromise.
Car come out of allignment cause eccesive wear on inside of rear tires. Caused blowout on the interstate that almost caused an accident. Blowout then caused damage to wheel sensor that caused car to loose power steering. Repair cost is estimated a $9000.00 repair. I get oil change & service inspection by genisis had alignement done by dealership and & replaced tires 2 times before blowout. Major safety concern
Sidewall failure of continental procontact tx tires. Several bubbles in sidewall. Dealer claims it must be from road hazard.
Tires developed bubbles in side walls on two tire. Also car was difficult to control on interstate highways for the speed limit. Always fighting the steering wheel to stay in lane. I am 80 years old and there were many complaints of flats and lose of control that i decided to replace all the tires. I contacted hyuandai and also continnental and was given no satisfaction.on going complaints about road noise on the old tires and the new tires have not be rectified.. Mechanic said low profile tires are the cause of both. Car was in motion when the problems occurred
Have had a tire bubble at less than 6k miles. Now have a gash in the inner sidewall at 22k miles. The quality of these tires are sub par. Upon removal of the tire that the inner sidewall blew, there was uneven wear in the middle of the tire, there are no alignment problems. These tires are a safety hazard.
This car was purchased july 2018, since then ive had 3 flat tires. The tire are made by continental tire company. The salesman at the dealership has informed me he they have experienced multiple cases of flat tires for the continental brand. According to the dealer salesman "there is a foam lining use for vibration dampening which has compromised the integrity of the tire". At $ 400 per tire, he was both concerned and happy to see sales increase in the service department one tire had a side bulge and i drove without noticing for who knows how long,, the other 2 flats happened going over 1 pot hole.on a side street going 25 mph. As a result i wont drive this vehicle if im going somewhere where i exceed 45 mph due to the danger of getting a flat going faster.
Oem tires on my 2018 g80 sport already was sidewall bubbles on the front tires with less than 10k miles. These are defective tires that should be recalled.
Continental pro contact tires have blown out 3 times. These are dangerous tires. The sidewalks are weak. These issues have been experience while driving on the highway.
Continental tires are cheap and prone to blowouts and sidewall bubbles. I got one bubble and dealer said it is a known problem with these tires.

The contact owns a 2018 Genesis G80. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact's vehicle was involved in a crash. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed into a deer, and then crashed into a hill. The vehicle spun around three times and rolled over after crashing into the hill. The front driver's air bag did not deploy. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. A Police report was filed. The contact sustained bruises to the chest and back pain. The passenger who was seated in the front passenger's seat sustained bruises. No medical treatment was provided at the scene of the crash, however the contact later visited her primary physician. The vehicle was towed to the contact's family members' residence and later towed to the contact's residence. The insurance inspection confirmed that, according to the EDR, the front diver's air bag skipped stage one. In addition, the contact was informed that an unknown recall had been initiated for the front passenger's air bag for the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the aftermarket seat covers were the cause of the steering wheel's functionality not functioning as intended. The contact was informed that the aftermarket seat cover was the cause of the driver's side air bag not deploying. The contact stated that the seat covers were purchased after the crash to cover the damaged seats as a result of the crash. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
I was in a accident severe enough to deploy all air bags but my steering wheel, i went to genesis with the issue and they inspected the car when they edr report came back everything matched but the model of the car it comes back to a gv80, on my genesis app my car comes back as a g90, my car is a genesis g80 the matter concerns conflicting vehicle indetifaction data across multiple official genesis systems as well as a failure of the airbag to deploy during a crash. Two idenpendent genesis systems - the event data recorder edr and the official genesis owner portal are identifying my vehicle as a different model a genesis gv80 and g90 despite my car being a g80. These systems should never disagree about the vehicles identity as they are responsible for safety critical information crash data warranty tracking and recall eligibility.. The edr box showing the incorrect model identifaction .. This is a major defect data misclassification and a safety system failure that calls for a recall
The contact owned a 2023 Genesis G80. The contact stated that a 2001 Ford F-350, pulling a tow trailer, ran a red light while traveling at approximately 50 MPH and crashed into her vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to her left side, arm, neck, and back, and medical attention was provided. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The vehicle was towed to an auto recovery site. The contact called an unknown local dealer who referred her to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted, and they opened a claim. The failure mileage was 22,750. The vehicle was deemed a total loss.
I hit a grass wall after striking a deer who bent my control arm and all airbags DEPLOYED BUT THE ONE WHO SAVES THE DRIVER THE MOST IMPORTANT AIRBAG
On May 9, 2023 @ 3pm. We were traveling at @60 mph when another vehicle pulled out in front of us. I hit brakes and swerved to miss the vehicle (which I did miss). I slid @ 350 feet, hit two divided highway medians/curbs and hit a concreted double legged (with at least 4 crossbars) stop sign with large solar panel and flashing lights. The front driver side of was crushed, the windshield and sunroof shattered as the solar panel and lights of the sign hit the car. The car was towed by the insurance company (Geico) and is awaiting their inspection. There was a police report/crash report created (Arkansas [XXX]) There were no warning lights or other indication of problems on the dashboard prior to the accident. The front passenger hit head on front and middle side beam and door glass. Has concussion. No airbags deployed and I don't think the automatic braking ever alerted or engaged. The contact owned a 2018 Genesis G80. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed during the night, a deer hit the contact's vehicle on the front passenger side. The vehicle spun around and ended up in a "grass hill" where it came to a stop. The driver-side air bags did not deploy. However, the front passenger and side curtain air bags were deployed. The front passenger-side control arm detached from the vehicle due to the impact. The police were called and filed a police report. The contact and the passenger were not injured. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a field inspector from Genesis stopped by the Hyundai dealer to retrieve the Event Data Recorder (EDR). The inspector informed the contact that the Event Data Recorder (EDR) showed that the contact's vehicle was a GV80. The contact stated that her vehicle is a G80. The field inspector then requested permission from the contact to retrieve the information from the Event Data Recorder (EDR) to change the vehicle information to a G80. The contact refused. The contact stated that the Genesis application on the contact's phone provided the following codes: B1378, which meant that the "Side Airbag Front-Driver Resistance is too High," and B1649, which meant "Crash Recorded - Rollover Event." The dealer replaced the control arm. The air bags were still deflated. The vehicle is at the contact's residence. The insurance company was informed. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.
Sincerely, [XXX] Hagerstown, MD --- INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
1. The Airbag Control Unit (ACU) and associated restraint‑system components appear to have malfunctioned. The Event Data Recorder shows inconsistent airbag deployment staging, a pretensioner firing while the belt was recorded as unbuckled, a seat‑track sensor fault, unsupported occupant‑classification data, incomplete curtain‑airbag deployment during rollover, and missing crash‑event data. Yes, the vehicle and the full 29‑page EDR report are available for inspection upon request. 2. The restraint system did not protect the occupants as expected. I suffered chest injuries from hitting the steering wheel, and my passenger sustained injuries to their hand and arm. These injuries occurred because the driver airbag did not deploy correctly, the pretensioner logic was inconsistent, and the curtain airbags did not deploy on the driver side despite multiple full vehicle rotations. The system’s irregular behavior increased the risk of serious injury or death. 3. No. The issue occurred during a crash event and cannot be safely reproduced. However, the malfunction is confirmed by the vehicle’s own Event Data Recorder, which documents the deployment irregularities, sensor faults, and data‑integrity issues. 4. The vehicle was inspected by insurance representatives after the crash. The manufacturer has not performed an engineering‑level inspection of the Airbag Control Unit or restraint‑system logic. The EDR report was obtained through the insurance process and serves as the primary source documenting the malfunction. 5. No warning lamps or messages appeared prior to the crash. There were no symptoms indicating that the airbag or restraint system would malfunction. The failures were only discovered after reviewing the Event Data Recorder.
Airbag light came on. Brought to dealer for fix. Dealer has it for two days and has not diagnosed it yet for repair. Only stated code shows increased resistance in driver side airbag.

The same cop caught up with us and could confirm that the front tire was there and was now gone.
245/40 R20 (FRONT) 275/35 R20 (REAR) The two front and one rear tire experienced sidewall failures within the first 25,000 of use. The tires have been disposed. I thank god that the failures did not occur at highway speed which could have caused serious injury to me and other motorists. There were no warning before the tire failures. After the third failure occurring on 2/12/23, I changed all four tires to Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season.

On the second occasion, while driving 35 MPH, the replacement passenger’s side front tire experienced a blowout. The contact replaced the tires with the spare tire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two separate occasions for the same failure and the dealer replaced the passenger’s side front tires. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
275.35r19 96w Continental Procontact TX Between 12-15k miles I had my two front tires form sidewall bubbles. The first bubble resulted in a blowout. Now at about 24k miles I'm told by the dealer the tread on my rear tires is almost gone. One rear tire, also, loses air monthly. I drive mostly locally and my longest trips are not greater than 70miles. I park in my driveway rarely where anything can hit the sidewall. For four tires to fail at this mileage indicates to me there is a serious flaw with the manufacturing.

Both passenger side tires had to be replaced. The car has less than 9,000 miles. Front tire had a sidewall bubble. Rear tire had a sidewall tear with metal showing. Service men detected tire defect during routine oil chage. I do not recall any incidents that would have caused these defects. I'm a 66 year old woman and don't drive carelessly. These tires were damaged too easily and with too few miles on them. Can I apply for any replacement costs? P275/35/ZR19 and P275/40/ZR19 The vehicle was damaged and repaired on 10/8/2020.
