Car randomly will cut off at slow speeds and when entering roadways fails to accelerate at a sufficient pace with traffic (can put pedal to floor and doesn't accelerate). Have contacted dealer several times, told earliest available to get in for service is two months and they will not order replacement fuel pump/fuel cell till the car is dropped off, and replacement part takes four to six weeks to be delivered.

The fuel pump malfunctioned while driving 70 mph on the interstate. When the car shuts off, all the dashboard lights come on. Then the car does not allow you to accelerate. My husband and i almost lost our lives. Thankfully there was a shoulder on the left lane coming in from Louisiana to Texas. The car shut off 10+ times within an hour time span on the way home. My family’s safety was constantly at risk, so we immediately brought the vehicle to a Genesis dealership in Houston Tuesday August 8, 2023. It is now 9/21/23, and the fuel pump has not arrived yet because it is on back order.

Car stopped running while on the interstate. Could have crashed into others or others crashed into me. Mechanic confirmed it’s a bad fuel pump. 10 other Genesis GV80 in the shop for the same reason. No parts available.

My GV80 has been randomly shutting down at low RPMs for the past 8 weeks this happens WHEN I AM DRIVING and this is happening to other GV80 owners per my service manager I spoke to yesterday. I need a new fuel pump to fix the issue but they are on back order so I am left to drive a VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE until they get this part in. This issue does not show up with any diagnostic tools (autel, global, etc) no check engine lights ever come on and my connected car health always show healthy but my car has literally shutdown on the interstate and in the middle of many roads it is horrifying and the service manager told me ONE of his customers told him he only drives in the right lane now so he can pull off quickly when his GV80 dies. This is a much bigger and more dangerous issue please look into it!

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V094000 (Seat Belts) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The safety belt pretensioner recall has been out in the vehicle for over a month. I am really concerned about driving my vehicle due to the recall. Can the repair be expedited? I have called the dealership multiple times and cannot repair due to the solution not presented from Genesis. Is there any way that this can be resolved so I can get back to driving my vehicle?

Seat belt does not retract properly. Often has slack and has to be tugged multiple times or pulled all the way out and then tugged with harder pressure to fully retract properly. This is not safe to drive around as the additional slack does not protect me in the event of a crash or accident. I took my car to the dealership to be repaired but was told I needed to book an appointment. The Service Manager simply tugged on the seatbelt until it retracted and told me I was good to go for the time being, which did not satisfy my safety concern. I have not had the seatbelt inspected by any government safety bodies just yet and no warning lights or sounds unless I unclick the seatbelt latch.

I have been driving my car and it will automatically flip to neutral and start blinking all sorts of engine lights. I can sometimes stop the car and restart it, and it will be okay, but it typically takes a few tries. It has happened after I start my car and am in the driveway, when I'm going ~40MPH and when I'm on the interstate going >70MPH. I have an infant and have been in the car with him when this has happened. This is obviously anxiety inducing anytime I get in the car, but even more so when I need to transport him. I have requested a loaner car from multiple Genesis dealerships until they can diagnose and fix it, but most do not have appointments until September and expect me to drive my car until then.

this is a follow up on a previous incident vehicle stalling since 24 hours after purchasing on September 29 2022. was taken to shop total of three times 2 of them towed because of stalling on middle of road. on those occasion they blamed a coil and a fuel injector. has been at dealer since October 28 2022. to this date still not repaired because after 6 months there they finally agreed and came to the conclusion that engine was defective. Cylinder chamber not creating enough pressure therefore staling the engine. now since april still waiting for a new engine to be installed.

THIS CAR STARTED TO SHOW ENGINE PROBLEMS, WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE A LOT AND LOUD NOISES AND A LIGHT SHOWING AN ENGINE MALFUNCTION POPS UP. WE HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI/GENESIS ABOUT THIS. THEY SAID IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND NEEDED AN UPDATE.SEEMS LIKE PROBLEM GO AWAY. NEXT DAY , THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS STILL EXIST. IT FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE THIS VEHICLE AS I AM WORRIED WHAT IF THE ENGINE FULLY BREAKS DOWN MID DRIVE OR SOMEWHERE PARKED LEAVING ME STRANDED

1) This vehicle was taken in for the seatbelt pretensioner issue and was turned away due to 'no replacement parts on hand'. To be clear an appointment was made indicating this is the service needed and the dealer could not complete the work. 2) Additionally this vehicle suffers from a sudden loss of power on the highway. If vehicles are following too closely there could be a serious accident. The failure mode of this condition is triggered by high temperatures 105 to 107 F there is a persistent DTC code P0087000 which indicates inadequate fuel pressure and maybe caused by fuel pump, pressure regulator, or sensor. At least once, when the car cools off the main computer (referred to 'the head unit' by Genesis customer care) can be 'reset', and all DTCs are cleared and Check Engine Light is cleared. Several owners of G70, GV70, and GV80 owners are reporting similar "sudden loss of engine power" on the owners forum.

Engine had first incident not turning in one morning and check engine light showing up. Vehicle had to be towed to neares dealer for repair. They stated there was a dirty coil and that problem was resolved. Two days later check engine e light again came back on and vehicle engine would rattle and stall. Dealer stated it was bad fuel to wait a few days. Took back to retailer this time the states there was a malfunctioning fuel injector that was replaced. 1 week later engine stalled in middle of busy main avenue in town and once again had to be towed to dealer for repair: vehicle has been at dealer since October 28 ,2022. They have replicated the problem and still can’t fix the problem have been without a vehicle for 3 months now. No loaner or rental car provided. Ci tasted manufacturer and still no remedy. Please investigate.

The engine stalls as if it's not receiving fuel. It has stalled on the open highway and when pulling off from a stop. The vehicle has completely shutoff several times in the middle of traffic at the stop light or entering the highway.

Genesis promotes this feature as a convenient way to charge mobile devices, yet in real-world use, it consistently fails to charge phones properly. The charger frequently disconnects, overheats devices, or does not charge at all, rendering the feature ineffective. Multiple owners have reported this issue to Genesis dealerships during service visits, yet no fix has been provided. Despite ongoing complaints, Genesis has not issued any software updates, recalls, or technical service bulletins to address the malfunction. This misleading advertising creates frustration for customers who purchased the vehicle expecting a functional wireless charging system. Recurrent failures of horn system. Randomly stops working. Dealer keeps replacing horns but unable to locate problem. This is critical safety equipment. It recurrently puts the safety of myself and my family at risk as the time the horn failure is discovered is when we are using it to warn other driver of a hazard(i'm in their blind spot or they are pulling out/making left/making right on red..without adequately clearing right of way.) The horn is something you take for granted until you need it. At this point, dealer's official take is that this is a frequent problem with the Genesis GV80 model and other customers are also affected. The recommendation from genesis corporate to the dealers has been to repeatedly replace the horns when they fail and they will not send an engineer out. sometimes it takes months to get the appointment to get the horn replaced and im driving without one resulting in a multitude of close calls. I'm sure others have been involved in a collision where they could not adequately warn other drivers of their presence. The problem has been confirmed by multiple different dealers and horn replaced repeatedly. The vehicle component has not been inspected by the manufacturer but has been inspected by the dealer on a recurrent basis. Horn has not been sent back to manufacturer for further analysis. No warning lamps illuminated. Recurrently found out the hard way.

On Sat. 9/23/2023 while driving on Rt 78 in New jersey. My vehicle started to hydroplane when i hit a puddle of water during a rainstorm. It recovered and we continued home safely. On Sat. 10/14/2023 while driving on Int. 276 in Penna. My car once again hydroplaned when i drove thru several puddles of water during a rainstorm. Only this time it was more severe and quite frightening. I slowed down to about 30mph, put on my hazard flashers and got in the right lane to continue the trip home safely. I am submitting this complaint to see if there have been any other reported incidents like this involving this particular model vehicle. Since the coasting feature on the Genesis GV80 and similar models is inoperative, it could mean that Genesis misrepresented the vehicle’s fuel efficiency and emissions performance. The coasting function is designed to disengage the engine from the drivetrain to improve fuel economy, and because it doesn’t work as advertised, real-world MPG may be lower than stated. This could mislead consumers who purchased the vehicle expecting better efficiency. Additionally, coasting reduces engine load and fuel consumption, meaning that with it disabled, carbon emissions could be higher than what was tested or certified. Since official EPA fuel economy ratings were calculated with the assumption that coasting is active, but in practice, the feature never engages, this could be considered a form of emissions cheating or consumer fraud. Such discrepancies raise regulatory concerns and provide grounds for legal action, including a class-action lawsuit, if buyers were misled into purchasing a vehicle under false claims.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, and while parked, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,200.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the odor of fuel was present inside the cabin of the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered fuel leaking from under the engine cover. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for repair and the contact was given a loaner vehicle of the same year make and model. Days later, the same failure occurred with the loaner vehicle. While in for service, the dealer diagnosed that the low-pressure fuel line had been chew and damaged by rodents. The low-pressure fuel line was replaced and the vehicle was retrieved. The contact stated that days later the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.

Drivers side headlights started collecting condensation,after 2 weeks the daytime running lights stopped working. When driving thru rain the headlights stopped working and the LED warning light came on.We can’t comfortably drive in the rain or after dark without safe lighting. The local Genesis dealer inspected the issue and the manufacturer has offered to cover 1/2 the cost of replacement. The vehicle is 3 years old and while over the mileage for warranty this is an issue which should be covered 100% as it is a safety issue. The LED headlights should have a longer lifespan.

This vehicle had been in the shop for over a month due to the emergency brake system freezing up causing my rear wheels to lock up, to smoke and rotors become damaged. Dealership could not find anything wrong as could not duplicate the issue. They did say that the EBS did engage while driving down the interstate at 70+ MPH. No reason why. Not normal! It was returned to me. Then 1 week after getting it back the vehicle started shaking violently when at speeds in excess of 65 for about 30 seconds. The RPM goes from 2 to 4 with difficult acceleration. When it gets back to normal, there is a definite clunk. Do not get any warning lights. Has happened 3 time in less than 2 weeks. While driving down the interstate the rear brakes locked up. Was not able to accelerate over 65 mph. Originally thought it was a transmission issue until I was able to pull over smelled burning rubber and saw smoke coming from the rear brakes and the rotors completely gouged. The dealership originally indicated it is a safety issue and would have to call in an engineer but then stated that they are not able to duplicate the issue so I will have to pay for the repair out-of-pocket and will return the vehicle to me. Told them I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. No warning lights. Vehicle is currently at the Genesis of Minneapolis

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

On numerous occasions in the last 3 years the AEB malfunctions and abruptly stops the car. It engages the AEB at least 2 more times before allowing the car to advance. It has happened after waiting at a light, while in stop and go traffic (on [XXX] in Orlando, FL with a tractor trailer behind me, and when exiting an exit ramp slowly with other cars. The most troubling event was when I was the first car at a light with no cars in front of me. The AEB engaged at least 8 times in succession during this event (this was in the middle of a busy intersection). This event was [XXX]. When this first happened I took the car to the Genesis dealership where is was purchased and was told that they couldn’t find an issue. I have subsequently been in touch with another dealership and was told on the phone that they have never heard of that happening. I found a short video on the internet today of this happening to someone, as well other people saying that it happened to them and the dealership doesn’t believe them. What do I have to do to have someone believe me before I am killed or seriously injured in an accident and/or cause injury to someone else because of the defect in my 2022 Genesis GV80? It is frightening to have this happen, but it is even more frightening to never know WHEN it’s going to happen. I am pleading for your help. Driver's bottom seat is so uncomfortable and stiff that it is cutting off blood supply to my extremities after only few minutes of driving now. I have numb feeling in my feet and toes. I am worried that this will reduce my ability to brake (stop the car) correctly in case of emergency. It feels like sitting on two very uncomfortable metal bars that are penetrating into your [XXX] and cutting off your blood supply. Over time your entire body is exhausted requiring you move in your seat a lot, even when driving at highway speeds. Both of these are major safety concerns for me. Issue started on date of purchase and progressively got worse over time. Car was taken into dealer for assessment in Ogden, UT (my nearest service center) to be told verbally on the day of service that they found and made adjustment to massaging air bars since my seat has this option and that it should be better now. Due to not getting correct part for unrelated problem that was being fixed on the same day, dealer held onto my car for several days for repair. When car was delivered to me I was surprised by the comments they made on the paperwork that nothing wrong was found with the seat. Additionally the seat issue was not resolved with same problems as before. During my visit with the dealer and several communications with Genesis customer service team I tried to point out in different ways that other Genesis GV80 owners are complaining about this same issue on their Prestige models and that there are on-line forums and comments proving it. One of their customers was even told by Genesis customer service that they are aware of the problem but Genesis will do nothing to fix it. I was personally told that this is not a warrantable item, that it is basically a comfort issue and that they would not cover the replacement of the seat. I have proof of everything I have stated above: emails, links to other Genesis owner forums with the same problem, invoices from dealer etc. Please help me. The electrical wiring harnesses affecting numerous safety systems (forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning) have been chewed through by rodents. Upon further research it was determined that starting in 2016 Asian automotive manufacturers (Nissan, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai) began using soy-based insulation in their wiring harnesses as alternatives to petroleum-based insulation. Rodents (mice, squirrels, etc.) are attracted to the wiring harnesses. The resultant damage and safety concerns led customers to file several lawsuits against the manufacturers. It is not clear whether Hyundai stopped the use of these soy-based wiring harnesses after 2021. Genesis is a spin-off of Hyundai, leveraging common parts. It appears that these soy-based wiring harnesses are being used in some of the 2022 GV80 models. Genesis currently burdens its customers with the cost to troubleshoot and replace these harnesses. Given the previous lawsuits and the continue risks of using these wiring harnesses in key safety systems, it is recommended that Hyundai and Genesis issue manufacturer recalls to ensure these harnesses are replaced with materials that do not attract rodents. We first started experiencing intermittent failures in in the highway driving assist system. Then, forward collision warning and lane departure warning systems. These became more pronounced until we brought the vehicle into Pearson Genesis of Richmond on 06/28/2024. After troubleshooting and inspecting the automobile, the technician showed us pictures of where rodents had eaten through wiring harnesses (attached). The cost to repair this over two visits totaled $957.42. I contacted Genesis headquarters suggesting they investigate this further, given the lawsuits. They agreed to offset my cost by $672, but did not agree to address the underlying problem.

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that in November of 2023 while driving at 80 MPH with cruise control engaged and approaching another vehicle, the contact changed lanes and the vehicle automatically slowed down. The contact stated that while returning to the set speed, the warning lights except for the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the battery was not maintaining enough voltage for the ECU and that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was not replaced because the dealer did not have the battery in stock. The contact was informed that he could go to any Genesis dealer, and the battery would be replaced if it was in stock. The contact drove the vehicle to Houston, TX in December of 2023 and the failure reoccurred with the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The dealer, Genesis of Spring (20440 Interstate 45 N, Spring, TX 77373) informed the contact that the battery did not need to be replaced but the ECU needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the ECU was replaced. The contact stated that on [XXX], while his wife was driving and had stopped the vehicle in the driveway, without warning all the side air bags and seat air bags deployed. The seat air bags located in the front driver side and passenger seats as well as the seat air bags in the rear driver seat and passenger seat. The frontal driver’s side and passenger’s side air bags had not deploy. The contact stated that the air bags warning light was not illuminated before or after the failure. The Insurance provider was contacted and had the vehicle towed to a USAA repair facility. The vehicle was inspected by a Genesis engineer at the repair facility. The manufacturer sent an email stating that no assistance would be offered as the air bags had not deployed due to a manufacturing defect. A case was opened with the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000. The VIN was not available.

UNINTENDED ACCELERATION!! 2022 GENESIS GV80 2.5T Prestige model. 60 miles after I had the fuel pump replaced due to a recall on the fuel pump, car was totaled. It was complete luck that I or others WERE NOT KILLED. The vehicle was sitting still with engine running and all of a sudden just accelerated up to about 40+ mph. I had to steer into parked car to stop my vehicle. The gear shift would not go into neutral or reverse. entire experience took 6-8 seconds. Air bag saved me. The car had just come from the Genesis service center 60 miles prior to incident. Was in excellent condition with only 6190 on it. VERY SCARY..If I had been on the highway or going through an intersection people would have been killed, as car kept gaining speed. My insurance company has sent out an independent investigator to read data from the car-have not heard back yet. Police report was filed. NO warning light or any thing unusual prior to incident

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions, where the ignition coils and unknown parts were replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V282000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer determined that cylinders #1 and #3 were misfiring. The dealer replaced the #2 fuel injector. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle from the dealer, the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated; however, there was a strong gasoline odor inside the vehicle, and the odor persisted while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was test-driven, and the contact was informed that the odor was no longer present. The contact stated that upon picking up the vehicle, the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted but no assistance was provided. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing hesitation while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

In 2 instances power steering doesn’t work and brakes go to the floor (it will stop, but very slowly). I believe pretty much every error code displays when this happens. Here’s some error codes: C165C87, C162387, C164286, C168787, U012300, C17024A, C174281. In addition, the back windshield cleaner sprays till it empties.

My Genesis is going to get me killed! The dealership has informed me that since it doesn't give them a code, they can't fix the issue. Here is a brief summary of my issue. On 8/2/23, while in the process of a lane change, my vehicle goes into limp mode, and I am almost rear-ended by a large Ford truck! I immediately look at the dash and see it is displaying "Park" and I switch it to "Drive". My vehicle picks up speed, and accident has been avoided. On 8/8, I left my home and went approximately 10 minutes away. I was in the store for about 15 minutes. When I walked up to the vehicle, I noticed that I had to use my key to unlock the door, which wasn't common nor did the side mirrors automatically unfold. Once inside the vehicle, every time I attempted to start the vehicle it would hesitate and turn-off immediately. Eventually I was able to get it started, so I put it in reverse. After moving 2-3 feet, it completely shut down while blocking several parking spots. My vehicle started, but by this time, the vehicle has been inoperable for approximately 45 minutes in 95-degree weather! I then contacted Genesis Roadside Assistance and arranged for the vehicle to be towed to Dick Smith Hyundai in Greenville, SC. 8/26 - My son was approximately an hour away in the vehicle, and it broke down. Since the dealership informed me that it was a battery issue, my son attempted to jump the vehicle off. The vehicle had to be towed. 9/6, I was taking a right out of the parking lot, once I got midway in the road (not completing my turn), I heard a grinding noise, the dash switched to park, and speed rapidly decreased. At the same time, the traffic that was halted by a red light is now rapidly approaching. I informed my daughter to brace herself, as I slowly prayed and rolled to the medium. The technicians has informed me that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. They kept the vehicle a month. I get it this week and it breaks down 4 times. I was almost hit when it broke down between 2 lanes.

While driving 45 mph on a straight stretch of a state road, I hit the brakes multiple times and decelerated so I could take the hard right exit and then make an immediate sharp left in a residential area. As I moved to the exiting lane, I turned on the right turn signal and eased off the brake. The car revved HARD, accelerated immediately and the cruise control icon + 58 mph began flashing on the display above the speedometer. I slammed the brakes to stop the car. I had not intentionally nor even accidentally turned on the cruise control (adaptive or otherwise) at any point during this trip or in any days leading up to it. I had been driving for just shy of 4 miles when this happened and had hit the brakes multiple times on this trip due to multiple sharp turns prior to the straight stretch. I was the lead car at various points in this trip, so if adaptive cruise had been on, I would’ve accelerated prior to this incident. Additionally, hitting the brake multiple times when I was traveling would’ve turned off cruise control had it been on already. We reported this to Genesis immediately and have awaited some closure, but they have been dismissive and unconcerned despite multiple points of outreach from us. We stopped driving the GV80 after a trip to the Genesis service center failed to provide any resolution. We are uncertain if the car is safe to drive and do not wish to chance it and would like some resolution.

The vehicle has an issue stalling while in operation. The vehicle is not safe, especially when the vehicle stalls while operating in traffic. The issue puts many drivers and passengers at risk while operating on a roadway. The vehicle stalled in the following scenarios: entering a freeway, vehicle became unresponsive, but resumed power; entering traffic on an arterial roadway, but resumed power; turning at an intersection on an arterial roadway, vehicle lost power, vehicle became unresponsive and had to coast to a stop to be restarted; driving on a freeway at 70mph, vehicle became unresponsive and had to coast to a stop to be restarted; driving on an arterial roadway at 40mph, where vehicle became unresponsive and had to coast to a stop on a side street to be restarted. Retailer dealership was able to replicate the issue "three times", per the dealership, but did not get an error code or trouble code to fix the issue. On two occasions, dealership refused to address the issue further until a trouble or error code could be found. Dealership refused to keep the vehicle and to provide a loaner vehicle, despite validating that an issue existed with this vehicle and at least four other Genesis GV80 vehicles in Arizona. On August 22, 2022, dealership indicated that they would replace the high pressure fuel pump, which was an issue in the 2021 GV80 that resulted in a recall.
