On [XXX], the GV80 experienced a complete electrical system failure (dashboard lights began flashing and eventually went black, display screen went black, steering wheel locked and brakes were hard to engage), all while my wife was driving on a major highway in rush hour traffic. The dealership claims this electrical system failure was caused by improper battery cable hookup, but this is incorrect. I have time stamped photographs showing a wiring harness that was already burned before any battery cables were connected. I also have documentation proving when the tow truck was dispatched to the vehicle’s location. Dealer Findings *Service advisor stated that there was improper procedure from someone hooking up cables to wrong posts and burning the wire(The issue occurred prior to any battery cables being connected ) -*Wiring harnesses are burned and damaged, creating excessive resistance *The condition is causing a dangerous buildup of heat *Multiple fuses have already blown and required replacement *The dealer explicitly advised that the vehicle is not safe to drive and could cause a fire at any moment Safety Risk This level of electrical damage is not consistent with ordinary wear or misuse. It represents a serious safety defect: • The failure rendered the vehicle completely inoperable. • The failure occurred while driving and resulted in a loss of steering and difficult braking, creating a severe risk of crash and injury. I feel there is a flaw in mechanical and electrical. There is no emergency release from the outside of vehicle to get to the battery. The battery went dead I had to crawl from the front seat.(locks were dead as battery was dead) all the way to the rear hatch to release the lever to open the hatch to get to the battery. There were no outside mechanisms to get to the battery once the battery is dead. How is this safe.

In rare circumstances, the user may be able to initiate navigation using the built-in infotainment system while the vehicle is already in motion. Other safeguards already exist within the Genesis maps system to prevent the driver from starting navigation while driving. This software issue should be corrected.

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with a child seated in the rear passenger’s seat, the seat belt webbing loosened from the frame of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the seat belt might have been cut and caused the failure. The contact disputed the claim and notified the manufacturer of the failure; however, the manufacturer sided with the dealer. The contact was not offered any additional assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

The second row passenger seatbelts are difficult to reach because they do not angle high enough for the user to easily latch. While they work well for a normal adult, children have difficulty latching the belt from a booster seat, especially if a Weathertech or similar seat protector are present. Secondly, the middle passenger belt latch is not identical in size to its left and right counterparts. Difficulty accessing the right passenger latch may lead to people attempting to use the middle belt latch as an alternative. This will fail to latch if attempted using the right passenger's belt. The manufacturer should consider standardizing all belt latch mechanisms.

Seatbelts on driver and front passenger side frequently get stuck and are not able to retract. Seatbelt then unable to restrain passenger. Vehicle taken to dealer for service. This has occurred way more than in any vehicle my family or friends have used.

Rear limited slip differential actuator failure. Vehicle became unstable while driving although dashboard feedback did not indicate an immediate need for service. Genesis unable to remotely diagnose. Dealer has reported multiple incidents with the same issue.

Electronically controlled reae limited slip differential is failing at 6000mi. Normal driving conditions for the life of the vehicle thus far. Four out of five trips in the last 200 miles have shown a warning light on the dashboard with no explanation. Genesis is unable to remotely diagnose or see the issue.

Electronic traction control system fails to deliver power correctly when the vehicle is passing over icy ruts. The system incorrectly delivers additional power to wheels that have lost grip causing unpredictable driving behavior, which startles the driver. Even when Snow mode is on, this sytem fails the driver and may risk causing an accident in wintry conditions.

I am the owner of a 2023 Genesis GV80 and have experienced a recurring issue with the vehicle’s windshield. I have owned the vehicle for nearly three years and, in that time, have spent more days driving with a cracked windshield than without. Even the smallest of impacts, such as minor stone chips, immediately expand into large cracks, leaving no opportunity for a standard resin repair through companies like Safelite. To date, I have gone through three new windshields, all replaced with factory OEM glass and professionally installed by a reputable auto glass repair company in Portage, Michigan that specializes in high-end vehicles. Despite this, the problem persists. This ongoing defect presents a consistent safety concern and raises serious questions about the durability and quality of the windshield. Further, Genesis community discussion boards reflect that many other owners are experiencing this exact same issue. I believe the glass to be very weak and poses a significant danger if an impact other than a small stone was present. The photos attached is of the third windshield currently on the vehicle. Replacing it would mean a fourth windshield. It currently received a stone roughly 2200 miles after the previous windshield was replaced. The current windshield has 3 cracks (all separate incidents) in it since July!!! I do not live down a dirt road. Most of the vehicle miles are done on the highway. I do not drive behind semis or put myself in situations that would increase the odds of my vehicle getting struck by a flying stone. I have paid thousands in windshield replacements and PPF film to protect my vehicle.

The Adaptive Cruise Control will slow the car down or try to bring it to a stop from speed on a highway for no reason, with no other vehicle in close proximity. Sometimes it occurs on a curve when the car seems to react to a guard rail or snow bank. Very often it is on a long straight stretch of road with no one in sight. Car just aggressively decelerates. The only action is to press the accelerator or shut the cruise control off in order to overcome the problem. Clearly this puts vehicle occupants at risk because the car creates a risky driving situation on highways. Have brought it to a dealer where the service manager acknowledged that this is an issue with this vehicle that others have complained about, but Genesis has not addressed. Message boards and Genesis on-line forums are filled with similar complaints. There were no warning lamps or other indicators for the problem.

Forward collision warning and active assist are practically inoperable. The vehicle doesn't detect the car in front of it and doesn't show it on display. The operation doesn't match the described function in the owner's manual. After trying to work with Genesis Corporate office and dealer, I could replicate the problem during the test drive that was conducted after dealer performed extensive diagnostics together with Genesis tech support. System didn't return any fault codes. Dealer documented the issue in the service record. During the test drive, the WARNING system finally activated when collision would have been imminent only prevented from the accident by the technician driving by slamming on the brakes. The emergency braking system didn't activate at all. I drove various loaner cars being Genesis 2023 models that all exhibited the same behavior. According to the manual the system should be active at the speeds 6 miles per hour or above. I can get very close to the car in front of me and nothing would happen. It only affects normal driving. Adaptive cruise control works fine and sees the vehicle in front of me with no issues

The newly purchased vehicle experienced a seat malfunction, leading to its return the next day. The seat was unresponsive, failing to adjust forward or backward when entering or exiting the vehicle. Upon inspection by the service department, the problem was attributed to the seat module. Despite replacing the seat module twice, the issue persists. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer's service department, and attempts to rectify it with seat module replacements have been unsuccessful so far. No other inspections by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives have taken place. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms were present before the failure occurred. The problem was identified during routine vehicle use, without any prior indicators of impending malfunction.

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that upon trying to reposition the front passenger’s side seat, the seat unable to be moved or adjusted. After several attempts to adjust the front passenger’s seat, the seat moved freely from side to side, stopping extremely closely to the dashboard. The contact stated that the closeness to the dashboard rendered the front passenger’s seat unusable. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the seat track and mechanism were defective and needed to be replaced; however, the parts for the repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

There is a golf ball size indentation on the black border of the windshield with 6-18-33" cracks extending to the mirror with glass shards covering the dash. There was not other vehicles or rock at the incident. We have a friend who has a 2022 GV 80 and has had three rock hit her windshield to chip and that have caused cracks the entire width of the windshield. The car was purchased on 9/5 with approximately 700 miles.

The front Windshield has an indentation the size of a golf ball below the seal and above the hood and cracks that extend 12- 18 " beyond the golf ball size indentation. There was no other vehicle, no rock, traveling below the speed limit at 55 on a Friday afternoon on Route 12 from Wimberly, Texas.

On September 28, 2025, after parking in my garage on a hot day (~80°F), my Genesis GV80 automatically locked all doors while my 3-year-old child and dog were still inside. My keys were also locked in the vehicle. Neither the driver nor passenger door thumbprint sensors responded. For approximately 20 minutes, I was unable to unlock the car while my daughter was trapped inside crying and screaming. I was forced to call the police and emergency services. The situation was only resolved when I calmed my daughter enough to press the unlock button from inside, just before the ambulance arrived. Police responded to the scene and a report was made. This is the second time this defect has occurred. A nearly identical incident happened previously when my daughter was 2 years old, though I did not obtain a police report at that time. This defect presents a serious safety hazard to children and passengers, especially in warm weather when entrapment can quickly lead to heat-related injury or worse. The locking and keyless entry system (including electronic thumbprint access) failed without warning. No dashboard lights, error messages, or other warnings appeared prior to the failure. The contact restarted the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V282000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

When I was driving my 2023 GV 80, I was applying pressure onto the gas pedal and the car suddenly started jerking. The car was not accelerating then the check engine sign came on and then the car completely turned off. Then I restarted the car and it was moving really slow. Similar incident happened few other times and luckily I was able to pull over to the parking lot after turning on the hazard light. I drove my car over to the dealership and dropped it off. I am afraid that someone is going to get killed in an accident while they're driving on the highway or crossing the streets

I was driving and the car just stopped in the middle of the road. I had to turn the car off and restart. Once I did the car wouldn’t get any speed but the RPM would go up to 4 or 5. I finally got the car home and had it towed the next morning. After 9 days in the shop, I was advised it needed a new fuel pump but no ETA on when the car will be repaired.

Car engine stalled multiple times after a stop. Once car did that right after light turned green and I tried to accelerate. Almost causing accident by getting hit by behind. Also did it in parking lot, what happens the gages stop showing information and only the miles driven on the bottom left. Twice had to turn car on and off, once it was able to start back up on its own after pressing accelerator. Dropped off vehicle in dealer today for repair, they mentioned prior year models issue was related to fuel pump. No warning lamps or system failure notification, just some information on dash going away for a bit.

I purchased GV80 in Genesis of Cumming, GA in May 6, 10:00AM, on the same day, while driving on the highway returning home, low tire pressure warning was poped up in the center cluster, then right after rear-driver side tire unexpectedly ripped off from the rim, causing me to lose control of the car and almost causing a serious accident. No symptoms recognized before incident while I drive on the flat road. Anyway, fortunately I could make the vehicle stopped without any minor collision and body injuries except rim damage and paint peel off on the rear bumper. After parking in a safe place, looking at the other tires and saw a damaged tire is on front the driver's side. (Rim is clean) In this case, the dealer who delivered the vehicle to the customer without inspection is also a problem, but it is the fault of the car manufacturer that manufactured the defective vehicle and sold it without quality inspection. All vehicles in stock must be inspected for all tires and taken over by the customer for safe riding.
