ABS system activated when I hit a bump of any kind and I'm slowing down, like a speed bump, a 1/2"edge on my curb as I enter my driveway a little faster than usual. Or exit a long drive at that is dry and lower than the sidewalk and tires flyi over the edge of sidewalk and it activates pumping the brages repeatedly. Dates have been recent and a while ago. 11-25-25 and I don't have exact dates but probably 2 months ago and 4 months ago and 6 months ago and even 1 year ago. I took to the dealer but they said they couldn't recreate it so the couldn't fix anything. That was early on. I thought I was going to hit my garage door because it prevented me from stopping faster. It disengages my ability to use the brakes. They don't activate when being slammed on just when the road is rough. I looked in forums and many others have this issue. Please got it I hate it and it makes me want to return the vehicle because I don't feel safe when it happens.

During a routine inspection at Ron Marhofer Hyundai in Akron, OH on November 22, 2025, the technician reported that both the front and rear brake caliper brackets on my 2024 Hyundai Palisade were “caliper bracket dry.” The inspection sheet also included the following warning from the dealership: “If not replaced, the brake caliper will fail, causing a dangerous condition where either the vehicle will not stop or will pull severely to one side when it does.” This was found on a 17-month-old vehicle with about 33,540 miles. Brake caliper slide pins and brackets should not be completely dry on a vehicle this new unless something was defective in the lubrication, assembly, or materials. The dealership confirmed the condition, provided photos, and gave a repair estimate. I contacted Hyundai Consumer Affairs and the case was escalated several times, but Hyundai ultimately declined to cover the repair, even with the dealer’s written statement that the calipers may fail and the vehicle may not stop. Based on the age of the vehicle, the dealer’s warning, and the nature of the problem, this is a premature brake system defect that creates a real safety risk to me and others on the road.

There has been several occasions where I am coming up to a corner or to a stop light and when I brake and, there is an area of 'washboard' or pot holes, the brakes stop working. I took the vehicle into the dealership (7/24/2025) and told them about the breaking issue and they were able to replicate the issue, but they do not have a fix for it. It is very disconcerting when this happens and the car doesn't stop right away.

I have owned the 2024 Hyundai Palisade for 11 months. On average, I experience at least twice a month an issue with the braking system when coming to a stop. It appears mainly associated with uneven road or where loose gravel or asphalt maybe on the roadway. The vehicle's frontend vibrates and the brakes do not grab and hold. I have to release the brake pedal and then reapply the brakes, all the while my vehicle is continuing moving forward. Today, I was coming up to a stop light and almost went into cross traffic.

ABS System failure at speeds below 30mph/rough surface. ABS system shutters and braking feels as if the vehicle will not stop. Other owners are reporting the same issue, plus no fix yet from Hyundai.

Automatic emergency braking. Vehicle has had several instances of slaming on brakes for no reason. Last time we were traveling about 35 miles per hour with a vehicle traveling behind us when system slammed on brakes locking them up and bringing us to a complete stop. We were traveling in the dark, in a rough road in a construction zone. No warnings lamps or messages. Scared us very bad. We are having the vehicle checked the next time we have in for service. Seat belts not fixed as of last service 10/25/25, per dealer no remedy available at this time.

There have been many times when driving, specifically over bumpy ground, but it has also happened over smooth/dry ground, where it feels like the anti-lock brakes suddenly kick in when they are not supposed to causing an inability to brake. You have to take your foot off the brake and brake again. This has caused several close calls of rear-ending someone or running through a stop sign or light. You must be keenly aware that this sudden braking inability/shaking of car, etc may happen and there always needs to be a lot of room in front of you. I mentioned it to the dealer, they noted there was nothing they can do but that they have reported it to Hyundai and Hyundai is aware and they have had other complaints. It has not been reproduced or inspected by anyone else at this time. I have not had any warning lamps or messages.

There is a known issue documented online regarding the 2024 Hyundai Palisade and the ABS system. On multiple occasions we have noticed that when driving at slow speeds (less than 25 miles per hour) and if the road is slightly uneven, gravel, on an incline or decline, the brake pedal start to vibrate and there is loss of control and increased stopping distance. We reported this previously to Hyundai dealership and they found no fault. Today, 9/30/25, the care was involved in a low speed collision in which the Palisade rear ended another vehicle. Once again the car started to skid and hit the other vehicle. I dropped the car off today at the dealership.

Crash: 1
I was driving my vehicle through a parking lot at a low rate of speed (approximately 5 mph) with my wife and three children in the car. A pedestrian suddenly stepped out from a shopping strip on the passenger side to cross the road, about 8–10 feet in front of my vehicle. I immediately attempted to apply the brakes manually. However, the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system unexpectedly took over and completely prevented me from braking. At that moment: - The car began vibrating and shaking while continuing forward at the same speed. - The brake pedal was locked and completely unresponsive to my repeated attempts to press it. - The pedestrian, realizing the vehicle was not stopping, was forced to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. After several seconds, the automatic braking system finally disengaged, at which point the brake pedal returned to normal function and I was able to regain manual control. This incident was extremely dangerous and could have resulted in a catastrophic accident, with both my family and the pedestrian at serious risk. The automatic braking system not only failed to stop for a pedestrian directly in front of the vehicle, but it also disabled my ability to manually apply the brakes.

I am writing to formally report a safety concern regarding the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) in the 2024 Hyundai Palisade, which I believe may be a widespread issue affecting this model year. The problem has raised significant safety concerns, as it directly impacts the vehicle's braking performance. Recently, I began experiencing issues with the ABS system in my 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The brake pedal feels unusually soft or pulsates when braking, and there have been instances of skidding or loss of traction during routine stops were I have ended up in the middle of an intersection. I took the vehicle to a Hyundai service center, where they claim the system was performing normal. The technicians noted that the issue could be linked to the ABS control module or wheel speed sensors, but they could not provide a definitive diagnosis. The system has not been able to function properly since the issue started, and I am concerned about the vehicle’s safety. As a safety-critical system, the ABS is essential for maintaining control of the vehicle during braking situations, particularly under adverse driving conditions. The malfunctioning ABS system poses a significant risk to the safety of both the driver and passengers, as well as other road users. The inability to rely on the ABS system increases the risk of accidents, particularly in situations where braking efficiency is crucial. I have contacted my local Hyundai dealership for assistance, and they have attempted to address the issue through diagnostics and repairs. However, the problem persists, and I am concerned that this may not be an isolated case but rather a widespread defect affecting other 2024 Palisade owners. Given the severity of this issue and its potential to affect a large number of consumers, I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this problem to determine if it is a manufacturer defect that warrants a recall.

While closing the front door to the vehicle the back window shattered. Cause is from thermal shock or improper installation of the rear window heating element. I tried to reach out to Billingsley Hyundai of Lawton and they simple stated that they are not able to do window repairs and that it would not be covered under warranty. They didn't even offer to look at the vehicle to diagnose the issue. I have an appointment with Safelife to replace the window. No symptoms were shown prior. We only use the buttons on the rear hatch to open and close it. No manual operation to open and close the rear hatch have been done since owning the vehicle. Safety wise it is a good thing none of our dogs were in the vehicle at the time or the shards of glass would have sprayed onto them. The glass also flew out the back around 2 feet that could have harmed anyone if they were around the vehicle.

The sunroof glass appears to have exploded or burst open. The vehicle was parked at the time of the incident. The owner had driven the vehicle just two hours prior and returned to it to find that the sunroof had burst upwards sending glass on top of the remain parts of the sunroof and all over the interior cabin. There was no projectile involved and the remaining glass around the hole was protruding upwards indicating it had been pushed upwards by the pressure. This could have happened while occupants were in the vehicle. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer who could not find anything wrong with the frame or housing to indicate a defect.

Vehicle Safety Concern - Unintended Vehicle Movement Vehicle Information: 2024 Hyundai Palisade Incident Date: XXXXXXX Location: Commissary parking lot in [XXX] Incident Description: On XXXXXXX my wife parked our Hyundai Palisade in a designated parking space at the commissary. She properly engaged the parking gear selection and turned off the engine. After opening the rear hatch to retrieve shopping bags and securely closing it, she proceeded into the commissary to shop. Upon returning approximately 15 minutes later, she discovered the vehicle was no longer in its original parking position. The Palisade had rolled away from where it was parked and collided with a parked 2018 Toyota Sienna, resulting in property damage to both vehicles. Actions Taken: Due to concerns about a potential mechanical defect that may have caused this unintended vehicle movement, we immediately contacted Hyundai customer service. We have since scheduled and completed diagnostic inspections at two separate Hyundai dealerships. Both dealerships performed comprehensive diagnostics but reported finding no mechanical issues. Safety Concerns: This incident represents a significant safety hazard. The unintended movement of our vehicle in a parking lot could have resulted in serious injury to pedestrians or other motorists. We are deeply concerned about the potential for this incident to recur and cause harm to others. Request for Investigation: We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter to determine if there is a systemic safety defect in the Hyundai Palisade that could cause unintended vehicle movement when properly parked. We believe this incident warrants investigation to protect public safety. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Drove vehicle approximately 1 mile ro McDonald's went in to eat. When I came out, front windshield was cracked on passenger side. I do not recall anything hitting windshield that could cause it to crack. Took car to Hyundai dealer. They looked at it and said it had been hit. Has a very small spot. I do not recall ever having anything hit windshield. I believe it cracked spontaneously for no apparent reason. If it was hit it was a very small something that should not have caused windshield to crack. If windshield cracks that easily, it is unsafe.

While driving at highway speeds, the sunroof spontaneously shattered. No rocks/debris were found to have caused the sunroof to shatter and we were not manipulating the sunroof in any manner. Luckily, the manually operated internal sunroof cover was in place, or more shattered glass could have entered the two front seats which were occupied. We could have ingested shards of glass, been cut by flying glass, or shards could have entered our eyes, causing a major incident/accident. We could have panicked and swerved aggressively, as the incident was loud and shocking, causing an accident to either us or the surrounding highway traffic. The closest manufacturers shop to the incident did not have the replacement part on hand, so we had to wait until we returned home for replacement parts. The problem was reported to the dealer and the manufacturer inspected the shattered sunroof. Since this is a relatively new vehicle (2024) with appx. 22,000 miles, the manufacturer is covering the repair as a warranty item, no need for an insurance claim. No police report was filed/needed. No warning lamps, annunciations, or aural alerts were heard/visible prior to the sunroof failure.

Sunroof randomly shattered in closed position on highway. I have pictures that show the glass bowing outward toward the sky instead of bowing toward inside the car indicating a object did not hit my sunroof. I also have pictures and videos of the sunroof and moment leading to glass shattering also proving it was not caused by an object. It is a serious issue because my sunroof was closed and my family was in the car. It couldve caused serious injury to the eyes if the inside slide cover wasnt closed as well. Something has failed causing this and I dont wish serious injury on anyone. I will be seeing my dealer tomorrow 4/22/25 huntington hyundai in new york to further evaluate it. There was no prior warning or symptoms before the exploding sunroof.

Please reference tracking numbers 11655582 and 11659441. This is an update to those reports. On May 13 I spoke with Deb from Hyundai National Consumer Affairs. Here is what she communicated to me. 1) The headlights are designed this way. 2) She believes it is a standard design used by other companies as well. 3) This closes out my complaint with Hyundai. I have entered [XXX] as the incident date because that is the date I purchased the car. This is an update to my previous complaint 11655582. Hyundai replaced the left headlight assembly on 5-5-25. Email I sent to Hyundai this morning: "I drove the car Tuesday evening and noticed the same problem as before the left headlight replacement. Later, at nearly 10:00 PM, I took the car to a dark road with little traffic to get a better look and to take the attached pictures. The outside temperature was 35 degrees with a light drizzle. Here is what I did. 1.I covered the left headlight with the thickness of two towels so only the right headlight shined on the road. I immediately saw the triangular area where there was an absence of light. I walked toward the safety defect to get a good picture. The two dark lines on the left of the picture are the shadows cast by my legs. The leg shadows did not create or impact the safety defect in any way because the safety defect was there when I stood to the side of the car and behind the headlights. 2.I repeated the experiment with the right headlight covered so only the left headlight shined on the road. The result was the same – a dark triangular area where there should be light. 3.When both headlights shine, the two defects blend with one another and project a distracting and unsafe image to the driver. Here are the conclusions that I have drawn from this experiment. 1.There must be a defective component that is used in both the left and right headlights – perhaps a reflector or lens. Perhaps that component is also used in more models than just the Palisade. 2.Since both original headlights and the new replacement left headlight contained this safety defect, the manufacturing dates of the three items might have been weeks or months apart. This makes it unlikely that only my car received three random defects and more likely that this is a widespread problem. 3.The current stock of headlights could be defective and replacing the ones on my Palisade from that stock may not fix the problem."
May 07, 2025
There is a defect in the headlights. As you can see from the attached picture, the right side projects light further up the road than the left side. The left side has a large triangular black-out region which blocks my view of the next lane. I took the vehicle to Phil Long Hyundai in Colorado Springs Colorado for warranty repair. They refused to drive the car at night because that was outside of their normal business hours. They adjusted the headlights “as high as they could go” according to their invoice. All that did was move the defect further up the road.
Apr 19, 2025
There is a serious flaw in the low beam headlight display for this vehicle. There are two large shadows directly in the light of sight. I rarely drive this vehicle at night and with the recent change away from daylight savings time, I drove it in the early evening and discovered the headlights created a huge shadow right in the sightline of the road with oncoming vehicles. It is especially worse when turning on a curve and whatever is in the road ahead is almost invisible. I took it to my local Hyundai Dealership on 23 Nov 24 and had them look at it. They responded there was nothing wrong with the lights. They took pictures of the vehicle against a white background and it clearly showed two small triangular dark spots in the center of the vision. They said this is normal for Palisades. I asked them to show me the same view on another Palisade and it was identical with large shadows in the background. I asked for copies of the white background photos and they declined to provide them. I now understand from on-line research, that Hyundai is aware of this problem for 2021-2024 model year Palisades. But they will not do anything. Below are photos I have taken while driving in the dark and you can clearly see how there is a shadow that could cause an accident and cost lives. I also have video but this format will not let me upload it. I have also attached some research screen shots from [XXX] and [XXX] that discuss this issue (along with their pictures). I understand there are class action lawsuits ongoing with this issue. As a result, I believe it is time the NHTSA looks at this road safety issue and take action to have Hyundai fix it. I also ask that someone respond to indicate receipt and what action will occur in this. Thank you. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Nov 26, 2024
The low beam headlights are a safely issue with the 2024 Palisade. The low beams on mine are downright dangerous. 1. They are dim. They don't illuminate the pavement adequately. 2. The low beam light projection is too short, and the cutoff line is too severe. Coming over a hill or around a curve, the low beams don't illuminate the outside curb nor telephone poles which are located on the outside curbline. I own a late model Subaru Outback and a late model BMW. Both of those cars have terrific LED headlights that give bright light and effective focus. I otherwise like my 2024 Hyundai, but I would not have bought it if I had known about the deficient headlights. My next car likely won't be a Hyundai if my research reveals the problem has not been properly fixed.

When driving over bumps, potholes, or railroad tracks with the breaks being pressed, the brakes would pulsate and causing vehicle to stop at a further distance. Due to taking longer time to slow down and stop, I almost hit another vehicle in front of me.
Nov 21, 2025
These vehicles are a hazard to the driver, passengers and others on the road. I have been experiencing regular failures of the brakes, which failed to stop the vehicle when and where intended. Always at speeds below 20mph, uneven pavement/surface, the vehicle experiences strong vibrations in the front, shakes violently and skids forward for a few yards uncontrollably. Brake pedal is unresponsive and must be slammed as hard as possible to have any effect on stopping the vehicle. I have been in near collision situations several times already, where I rolled onto the road with incoming traffic or almost rolled into the intersection. The vehicle is at the dealership for a month if not longer by now, for the third time and Hyundai corporate refuses to provide any solution. NHTSA and DOT MUST open a proper investigation into this. Hyundai refuses to solve it, has no solution and yet fails to recognize the defect and issue a recall or do anything about it. Fed government MUST step in ASAP.

Yesterday [XXX] the car basically failed to stop when I braked and was nearly hit by the approaching vehicle. I immediately called the service dept of the dealer and taking it in for diagnostics. No warning lights ever popped on. So what happened is I was getting on to the road from the parking lot and started braking to wait for the approaching cars to pass but instead of stopping all I got was vibrations and shaking all while not stopping. The car got almost half body length out on the road making the approaching cars swerve and honk at me. The only way I managed to stop it was stomping on the brakes as hard as I could, which worked. But it freaked me out and sent my kid in tears cuz the stopping was so violent. I am aware of the ABS issue with these models and experienced it 5-6 times before but never it was a near collision situation and especially with the kid on board. I called the dealer right away and am taking the car in for diagnostics. I told them about the issue and history of similar events but all I heard back was “oh, sorry it happened, come in for a diag. We have never heard of it.” We all know by now about the faulty ABS system in Palisade and the class action was just filed against Hyundai last month. So I wonder what will it take for them to admit the problem and issue a remedy. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving 15 miles an hour in a neighborhood and approached a stop sign. When I went to brake, the brakes vibrated, the steering wheel shook and I wasn’t stopping. I pushed down harder and eventually stopped just before entering the intersection. The roads were dry and smooth, no gravel, but it felt like I was sliding on gravel or ice. This has happened several times before in rough parking lots but I thought it was just a random fluke because of gravel or a bump in the road. No sensors or warning lights came on. It happened on a Sunday so we will contact the dealership tomorrow. We have an extended warranty.

It was a sunny day with no water around and I was pulling up to a signal and decide to put brakes on and the car didn’t break right away, instead the car slide for at least 10 ft before it came to a stop. All the times it has scared the driver as the driver doesn’t know if the brake feature works and when this happens the vehicle drags several feet before coming to a stop.

Over the course of 6 mos. I've experienced several instances while braking on uneven surfaces, wherein the ABS system of my 2024 Hyundai Palisade reacted surprisingly very unpredictably. On 2 occasions this caused a near-miss; one of which involved braking while turning a corner on a rough surface and the car skidded/skipped (wheel-hopped) unpredictably. In another near-miss, I quickly released/reapplied the brakes which seemed to deactivate this erratic ABS behavior. My vehicle was recently shopped at my local is Hyundai dealership for routine maintenance/defects. This ABS malfunction was also to be addressed. The dealership reported to me that they were unable to duplicate, the car was operating as intended, no trouble found...Of course, I was highly. unsatisfied with this response, particularly after having taken a test drive with the service department supervisor, demonstrating the issue while driving and reviewing relevant online forum discussions that documented the exact issue I've been experiencing. PLEASE HELP BY DEMANDING HYUNDAI IS IMMEDIATELY ADDRESS THIS LIFE THREATENING ABS SAFETY DEFECT BY MEANS OF AN URGENT RECALL! Thank you.

When braking on an off ramp, the vehicle began to shudder. The steering wheel and brake pedal were shuddering as well. The vehicle came to slower stop than usual almost causing us to rear end the vehicle in front of us. This has happened prior on uneven roads when slowing/coming to a stop. The dealership does not have an answer and couldn’t reproduce it

Car begins to shake if brake is applied when diving over uneven terrain. Acts like ABS is applied but car does not slow as it should. No lights or indicators flash when this occurs. Fortunately was able to stop before rolling into intersection as I was already traveling at slow speed. Dealer has not been consulted on this problem but Reddit indicates dealer cannot/will not fix it.

SUSPENSION
4 complaints
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at a slower speed than 60 MPH or attempting to make a left or right turn, there was an abnormal tapping sound coming from the driver’s side rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and it was diagnosed that the driver’s side rear suspension bracket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, while driving, the tapping sound returned, and the vehicle was driven back to the dealer. The dealer replaced another suspension bracket on the same driver’s side rear; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

I started hearing a rear thunking noise at approximately 10,000 miles. It was sporadic, not constant. With more miles, more distinct noise from rear of vehicle. At service appt and 24,000 miles a leaking rear shock was replaced. Two days later the same noise returned. The car goes back in to dealer tomorrow. Everything I’ve read points to this vehicle model having serious suspension issues - particularly with strut and shock assemblies.
Jun 24, 2025
After about 15,000 miles of normal driving (a few road trips but mostly commuting and taking the kids to school and sports, no towing or off roading), my vehicle developed a clunking noise. This noise was inspected by the dealer and determined to be an issue with the rear struts. This is the first time in almost 30 years of vehicle ownership that I have had a vehicle require a strut replacement.

There is a constant thumping noise while driving my car and rides really rough.I’ve been there 5 times already. I had both shock absorber replaced and it’s still making that thumping noise. I do not want to send it to the dealership that replaced it because my paint or doors would get damaged and last time they broke the back passenger side faring.

The driver seat will move without any input from the driver, it will move forward and also tilt as far forward as possible smashing the driver in the seat. It will do this when parked after starting the vehicle and it has also done it while DRIVING which impedded my ability to control the vehicle. This situation is incredibly dangerous but when I've taken it to the dealer they refuse to troubleshoot the issue because they didn't see it happen. This happens probably 5-10 times per week.

Subject: Safety Concern – 2024 Hyundai Palisade Headrest Design Component Affected: Seats / Headrest Vehicle: 2024 Hyundai Palisade VIN: [XXX] Incident Date: [xxx] Mileage at Time of Incident: 15,000 Dealer: Braman Hyundai Miami, 2001 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137 | (786) 623-4261 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a safety concern involving the headrest design in my 2024 Hyundai Palisade. On [xxx], my [XXX] son briefly removed and reinserted the middle-row headrest while unsupervised. The headrest locked into place in a reversed orientation and could not be removed or corrected without disassembly by the dealership. I was charged $680 for the repair. This incident raises the following concerns: •The headrest should not be capable of locking in an incorrect and potentially unsafe position. •There are no warnings, labels, or mechanical safeguards to prevent reverse installation. •The owner's manual provides no guidance on this possibility. •This design flaw is particularly troubling in a family-oriented vehicle. •Hyundai has not acknowledged fault or offered support despite the safety implications. I believe this represents a design defect with implications under FMVSS 202a and related passenger safety standards. I am therefore requesting the following: 1.Full reimbursement of the $680 repair cost, which I believe resulted from a manufacturer design oversight. 2.Written acknowledgment of whether Hyundai has previously received similar reports, and whether a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) or other corrective measure is planned. 3.Confirmation that this report will be reviewed by Hyundai’s safety or compliance team. Attached is a copy of the dealer invoice (No. [XXX) documenting the repair. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am available for further questions or to provide additional documentation if needed. Vehicle has been to the dealership twice for an issue with the right-side seat bolster not correctly inflating on the driver's seat. Both times they are claiming the vehicle operates to the standards of a new vehicle on the lot but cannot give information on why the right and left sides operated differently or prove with a service manual on why. Hyundai claim's a 22-way seat, but without the right side moving, this is a 21-way seat. Would like information directly from Hyundia on the correct operations of the seat and also a replacement.

As the vehicle drove over railroad tracks the steering wheel began to shake violently and I attempted to push the brake pedal with my full body weight but the brakes would not work and the car lunged forward, striking the vehicle in front of me. The failure of the brake system on my 2024 Hyundai Palisade prevented me from stopping the vehicle and thus I impacted the vehicle in front of me putting not only my life in jeopardy but also the driver of the car in front of me. I sustained a neck injury and headaches and have required ongoing medical care as a result. This vibrating steering wheel and braking issue has happened in the past several times and was reported to Wiesner Hyundai on several occasions; however, the dealership was not able to recreate the problem. The vehicle has been inspected by the service department at Wiesner Hyundai. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problems prior to the failure.

I when to my local dealer for it to be inspected and I show the my dashcam videos and one of the mechanics joined me in a test drive for them to diagnose what's happening the same vibration happened when I brake while passing a small bump and the mechanic saw what happened or how it happened and we went back to the dealership they diagnosed the vehicle but they dont have a solution for what have happened i was just afraid that it could happen anytime with my family in the vehicle cause there is no warning when or when it will happen and I cant just simply avoid small bumps in the road cause it's everywhere.

At a low speed coming to a stop sign on an uneven paved road the steering wheel shook and the brake pedal pulsed. I was unable to stop the vehicle in a timely manner. The outside conditions were normal and the pavement was dry. Luckily there was not a vehicle or pedestrian in front of me or I likely would have ran into them. It scared me and my daughter that was in the car with me.

This complaint is in regards to RECALL 255 TO ADDRESS A CONDITION INVOLVING THE ENGINE VALVE SPRING(S). Hyundai leased us a Palisade under this recall without informing us about the recall until after we had signed the lease paperwork. We were told there was a stop sale on the car when we went to pick it up the next day and we were not allowed to drive it off the lot. We have been without our car for over 9 weeks due to Hyundai not resolving this recall in a timely manner. No definitive update has been provided on when this recall will be resolved and when we will get our leased car.

I called the manufacturer twice about the recall 255. I feel usafe driving the vehicle after reading the recall report and cases. I called the dealership it was purchased from twice also and just got brushed off. Hyundai customer care put me on hold and hung up. I spent over $56,000 on this vehicle and expect better than this.

Crash: 1

Each time the vehicle is driven the transmission will slip out of gear when trying to shift and send the engine rpm into a rev. During this vehicle stops accelerating and feels as if it is completely in neutral. Finally the transmission will slam into gear jostling the occupants. This happens when the engine attempts to shift around 15,20,25 and 40 mph. Once the transmission slipped out of gear on a shift, lost acceleration, and then slammed to a halt as if shifting into park. The vehicle was moving at 15 mph when this occurred and the vehicle came to a complete stop. I have taken the vehicle into the dealers service department to be told they cannot duplicate the issue. Each time when I get the vehicle back it immediate starts slipping out of gear on shifts again. I have recorded the issue numerous times but have been unable to get the dealer to accept there is an issue.
Jan 03, 2024
The transmission failed at under 800 miles on this new vehicle. Each gear shift in the transmission was substantially extended and the vehicle would jerk when sitting into gear. You could hear/feel the engine revving while only accelerating slightly. When entering the highway, the vehicle's extended shift caused a very slow and delayed acceleration, requiring other drivers to change lanes or rapidly slow down to avoid a collision. The Hyundai dealer confirmed the transmission issue, and submitted a warranty claim to Hyundai which was approved. The vehicle is currently pending repair. There were no warning lamps or messages. I have several videos showing the problem, but can not attach them.

at low speeds on bumpy surfaces the entire front end, (brakes and suspension), sometimes shakes heavily when brakes are applied. Shaking is so severe that brakes have to be released then reapplied. When dealer was advised during a normal service the advisers claimed to have no knowledge of the issue. I had advised before visiting for the service however no action was taken by them. I shall visit another Hyundai dealer in the immediate future to attempt a resolution.

My brakes are intermittently disengaging during bumps and potholes. I experience a rattling undercarriage and pedal vibration. Sometimes I must crank the steering wheel to regain braking. This poses an immediate safety risk to myself and others. The service advisor mentioned other customers coming in for the same issue. I have had my car in three times for this issue but they’ve never been able to replicate the issue. It has been an ongoing issue since the inception of the lease but has gotten progressively worse. This is a life-threatening issue.

I have a 2024 Palisade, and any small bump, pothole, or lane bump causes my steering wheel to shake uncontrollably. If I go over a speed bump or come down an incline, the brakes make a rumbling sound, and if I try to brake, the brakes stutter and just shake. I’ve almost hit a car in front of me a few times because it didn’t want to stop. This is a very expensive SUV to be having these issues, and it’s a major safety concern.

Hyundai Service for Malfunction 8-10-24 Took New 2024 Palisade to Hallmark Hyundai Service Dept. for issue with handling On 4 different occasions while driving out of a parking garage at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville TN, going approximately 5 MPH or so, the front wheels started moving back and forth very violently. Steering wheel shaking with violent wheel movement. I held the steering wheel Firmly and slammed the brakes. Shaking stopped. This happened on 3 different occasions. The forth occasion happened while pulling into a parking area at Centennial Park, Nashville TN. I hit a small pot hole and the same activity occurred while driving 10-15MPH. I held the steering wheel Firmly and Firmly applied the brakes to make it stop the shaking. Reported the incident to Hallmark Hyundai on 8-7-24. Nicole set me an appointment for 8-10-24 at 8am for immediate inspection and to make sure everything was still “tight”. After meeting with the technician, her immediate comment was that this is called a “Death Wobble”. They ran a full diagnostic and found no codes. They want me to bring the vehicle back and keep it and perform tests and more inspection for this may be the first report of such dangerous activity. They think it could be the driving assist system, abs, suspension issues, etc.??? The technician stated that the “Death Wobble” happened to her once while traveling at a speed of 60MPH. I asked if this could happen at any traveling speed, the answer was YES!!!!

One month into ownership of my 2024 Palisade Limited AWD, I was approaching a stop light going ~20 mph and started to apply the brakes as I passed over some slightly bumpy ground. The car lurched forward repeatedly as the brakes were applied, bouncing forward in spurts rather than stopping and taking twice as long to stop than it should have; I was one foot from rear-ending the car in front of me despite beginning to break with plenty of time to stop - this is so far from how an ABS system is supposed to work and I've never experienced it in another car. Hyundai corporate has told me that, upon testing other Palisades, they have discovered that this happens in ALL 2024 Palisades. This is troubling for several reasons: 1) The car exhibited an inability to effectively brake in a very common situation (braking when traveling at low speeds on slightly bumpy ground). Several people have noted this experience in Reddit posts; 2) I have been driving for 25 years; I’ve driven other cars with antilock brake systems and have never been in a wreck. This is unlike any experience I’ve ever had in a car and it’s very abnormal / incredibly dangerous; 3) When asked to recreate the issue at the dealership, the head mechanic rode with me and said, “The car shouldn’t do that,” when it occurred with him the car. It was clear that he found it to be very concerning behavior. Hyundai kept the car in the shop for 2 days shy of a month. At the beginning of the month, they apparently did not know that the 2024 Palisade behaved this way. Over the course of the month, they learned that this is how a Palisade behaves when driven over uneven ground at moderate to low speeds because they tried it with other cars they had on hand. This vehicle is prone to rear-end cars in front of it when stopping and also to bouncing out in the middle of an intersection when approaching a stoplight /stop sign. It will kill people of unaddressed. There are no messages / warning lights on in the car.

SEAT BELTS,SEATS
1 complaint
I’m writing to report a serious safety concern with my 2024 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [XXX] ). The second-row seat belt on the passenger side does not retract or stay secure properly. It often remains loose or gets stuck when pulled, and sometimes won’t tighten back automatically. I brought my vehicle to the dealership, but they said they couldn’t replicate the issue. I recorded a video clearly showing the problem, which I am attaching to this message. This is extremely concerning to me because I have young children who sit in the second row, and I’m worried the seat belt could fail to protect them in an accident. It’s very scary as a parent to see a safety feature not working correctly in such a new vehicle. Additionally, the rear charger port doesn’t work properly — the dealer said it’s due to using a non-Hyundai phone charger, but the issue happens with multiple certified chargers and different devices. After checking online, I learned that Hyundai has an active seat belt recall (#283) for Palisade models (2020-2025), and my vehicle seems to fall within the affected range. I am requesting a case number and for this issue to be investigated under that recall and warranty coverage. Please confirm receipt of this message and let me know how to send or upload the video evidence for your review. I’d also like a follow-up from a regional case manager, as this is a potential safety defect involving children. Thank you for your attention and for helping ensure my family’s safety. Component/System: Engine — specifically the engine valve springs and related components. Description of what happened: While driving, the vehicle began to shake violently, and the check engine light came on. At times, the vehicle loses power and shuts off completely, then restarts and drives normally for a short period before the issue returns. It feels and sounds like the engine is about to fall out. These symptoms match the description in Hyundai Safety Recall 255 for the 2024 Palisade (fractured engine valve springs that can cause engine failure, loss of power, and fire risk). Safety risk: The sudden loss of power and engine shaking put my safety and the safety of others at risk, especially while driving in traffic or at higher speeds. The problem could lead to a crash or engine fire if the valve springs fracture or the engine block is damaged. Inspection/confirmation: The problem has not yet been officially confirmed by a dealer, but Hyundai stated that my VIN is not included in the recall, even though my vehicle shows the same symptoms and falls within the recall’s production timeframe. Prior warnings or messages: The check engine light comes on when the vehicle starts shaking, then goes off after the vehicle stops or restarts. The issue has occurred multiple times, most recently in early October 2025. Additional notes: The vehicle is a 2024 Hyundai Palisade, and the issue began about 5 days ago. The symptoms are consistent with fractured valve springs as described in the recall. I am requesting investigation and inclusion of my VIN in this recall.

I am unsure what exact component malfunctioned but in 5 separate times within the past 2 months, the vehicle has failed to stop at a normal time when pressing the brakes and a loud rumbling occurs. It feels as if I am sliding on ice.Two of the times it occurred on uneven road surfaces, however 3 times I could not identify an issue with the road. They all occured when coming to a stoplight/stop sign or when I had to stop due to a vehicle slowing down or stopping in front of me. In each occurrence I was going under 20 mph. The safety of others could have definitely been impacted as it took a few seconds to actually stop the vehicle more than it should have. Someone could have been walking and crossing the street in front of me. Or if I was too close to the car in front of me it could have hit it. No warning messages appeared on the dashboard prior, but during the occurrence in the last time, I noticed the word "shift" appear. This word could have shown up during the first few times and I could have missed it. On Tuesday September 9th I took it to the dealership and they checked everything out and the vehicle did not produce the same symptoms when they tested it out over the hour I was there. They said they reported the issue but they did not know the reason it was occuring.

This vehicle has driver-assist functions and warning lamps in the electronic instrument cluster located in the driver's display area. Randomly and unpredictably a group of warning lights -- "check blind spot" collision alarm, lane safety indicator light, triangle-shaped general alert icon -- all activate simultaneously for no apparent reason. The unpredictability creates a serious distraction to the driver and potentially unsafe reactions which could result in damages and injuries. There are numerous references to this problem on the internet, indicating this is a widespread safety issue for Hyundai models. Dealer said possible recall imminent.

The windshield (visibility system) on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson (VIN: [XXX] ) was cracked on [XXX]. I immediately contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (in New York), and later local Hyundai dealers in Florida where I now reside. I was informed that the windshield is on a nationwide OEM backorder with no estimated time of arrival (ETA). As of August 6, 2025, the part remains unavailable, and the vehicle has been inoperable for 57 days, parked in my garage. The crack makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, and due to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane keeping assistance and forward collision warning, the windshield requires proper OEM calibration post-installation, which cannot be performed until the correct part is secured. The issue was confirmed by multiple Hyundai dealers and 3rd-party glass installers, all of whom indicated they are unable to acquire the correct windshield due to Hyundai’s ongoing parts shortage. No resolution has been provided by Hyundai corporate. Although one vendor was referenced by the dealer, they too did not have the part available locally. Hyundai has offered limited rental reimbursement, but not enough to cover costs during this extended downtime. No inspection has been conducted by the manufacturer or insurance company beyond initial confirmation of the damage. No warning lights or messages preceded the incident — the issue is entirely due to the unavailability of a critical OEM part, making the vehicle unsafe and unusable. I am paying monthly for a financed vehicle that cannot be driven due to a manufacturing and supply chain failure beyond my control. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Multiple safety-critical systems have failed repeatedly, including: •Engine (multiple shutdowns while vehicle was in motion) •Automated Emergency Braking (AEB) (activating without cause while reversing) •Brake Pedal (intermittently unresponsive with audible rattling) •HVAC (leaking fluid into the passenger-side floorboard) Yes, the vehicle is currently with the dealership (Stamford Hyundai, CT) and is available for inspection. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? • The engine has shut off without warning while the vehicle was in motion, including in traffic, creating the potential for rear-end collisions. • The emergency brake has slammed on while reversing, without any obstacles present, risking whiplash and collisions with pedestrians or nearby objects. • The brake pedal becomes unresponsive, with a loose/rattling sensation, making it difficult to slow or stop the vehicle safely. • The HVAC leak creates slippery floor conditions, posing a secondary risk for occupants during ingress/egress. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealership (Stamford Hyundai) acknowledged some issues but stated they were unable to replicate all of them. However, the brake pedal defect is consistently reproducible and occurs daily. Multiple videos and logs have been submitted to Hyundai’s consumer affairs team. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle is currently under inspection by Stamford Hyundai. Hyundai Consumer Affairs (case managers Noorpreet and Taruni) have been involved and have reviewed videos and documentation. No inspections by police or insurance. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No.

A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was totaled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

During the daytime, you cannot see any of the graphics on the steering wheel switches. How am I supposed to know what button does what? How am I supposed to control the cruise control settings if I am pushing the wrong buttons. At night they are illuminated so I can see them better, but during the day the graphics are basically invisible. I'm thinking this is only an issue on the Calligraphy Night trim levels. This has been an issues since we picked up the vehicle.

SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
Since around the 1000-mile mark, I have been having an issue sporadically we are when I am breaking and going over either a pothole, an entrance to a driveway, railroad tracks, or in general slowing down toward a stop sign going under approximately 15 miles an hour the entire car loses control and starts shaking. The ABS system or something similar is kicking in at the wrong times and it is perilous and can cause an accident as you have no control over the braking anymore for a few seconds. The entire car shakes in the front end, including feeling it through the brake pedal as well as the steering wheel. I have brought the vehicle many times to my local Hyundai dealership and have been told there is no issue and everything is operating according to how it should when I took the head of their maintenance shop out for a ride and replicated the issue I was told that it is operating normally and despite many people having the same issue online he was told by their back and " Tech line team" to say this is operating normally. Hyundai needs to be held accountable for these dangerous cars as it is only a matter of time before someone loses their life when they cannot control their vehicles braking power during such an incident.

When the brakes are applied while in low speeds and you are driving on rough pavement or you hit a bump in the road the car skids and won't come to a stop. It feels like the ABS has kicked in. There are a few brick roads in my town. In just one block when I stop it will skid almost completely through the stop sign. I have to brake almost halfway before I get to the stop sign. The other day I was driving in the middle of town going around 25 mph and went to stop at a stoplight. My car hit a patch of rough pavement and skidded almost into the back of the car in front of me. I have only had my Palisade for a few months and the paint is chipping terribly. I have the night edition and 2 weeks after having it there were tons of chips in the grill. I do not live on gravel nor do I travel on gravel often. This should not be happening this soon. Why is there not a protectant applied? Why is my paint chipping so soon?

Multiple problems since purchasing brand new 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Edition last November. Within the first 2 weeks we experienced electrical problems and the entire dashboard add monitor had to be replaced. 2nd- recall on the engine and was replaced, recall issued in February and was never notified, only found out in August when taken in for complimentary service oil change. 3rd- engine light came on 1 week later. 4. Paint was damaged and mirror was cracked while at dealership. 5. Condensation in both headlights. 6. 2nd cracked windshield since purchase. 6. The driver side window does not roll up all the way. I absolutely do not feel safe in this car with my children and elderly parents. First and Last Hyundai. Nothing but constant problems. The dealership was fraudulent in the mileage the brand new car had- 500. Was not given any purchase paperwork and we paid cash for car.

Engine fire caused by AC compressor. On 09/28/24, at 1700 miles and in the parking lot of a restaurant, smoke suddenly began filling the cabin and when I looked out the window the entire car's front was engulfed in a gray smoke. The overpowering smell was of burning wire insulation, plastic, and rubber. I immediately shut the car off, popped the hood, and was ready to run into the restaurant for a fire extinguisher when I noticed the large cloud of smoke was dissipating, but the heat was still incredibly extreme and a good amount of smoke was still pouring from the engine. My sister-in-law entered the car to retrieve her purse, and her eyes instantly started watering and she had a headache for several days. She is still complaining of her chest burning. After calling roadside, the AAA driver stated the car really smelled badly burned, and hauled the car off to the dealer of purchase. The fire was on 09/28/24 (a Saturday), and on Monday, 09/30/24, I submitted what took place to Hyundai. This is when the fraud started and Hyundai, with the help of the dealer, have purposely done everything possible to conceal the fire. I have full details of this fraud, and it's simply shocking. I am awaiting information regarding the restaurant's video recordings.

While braking at a stop, and encountering a pothole (has occurred even without a pothole on straight surfaces), it feels like the is ABS kicking in to avoid wheel lockup, and apparent slowing which rapidly mimics activities that could cause hard braking. Similar to when the car is on ice/snow and the car pulses to stop. Unsafe, as the vehicle does not top when intended and forces the vehicle to take longer to stop with the potential to involuntarily enter an intersection. I have had this occur multiple times. I am fearful that I will potentially have an accident with my grandchildren in the car. Dealership is aware of multiple issues, but cannot duplicate and thus will not resolve. No warning lights, or notifications occurred. Has been discussed on 2024 Palisade Calligraphy forums. Review other reviews on reddit where other models have been affected.

When driving at slow rate of speed, the "Check Forward Safety System" and "Check Side Safety System' lights will come on spontaneously and will turn off after a few moments and/or if I shut the vehicle off and turn it back on. This happened another time when I was parked in the vehicle where the lights came on spontaneously.

Dealership made several repairs at no cost to me that minimized the issue but issue still present. Car is leased. There were NO weights on rear tires, weights had to be installed. Brakes feel as if being pushed upward when driving over rough road surface. Gas pedal vibrating when driving over rough surface. And feels as if bottom of vehicle or something under is dragging. Please help - I have 3 children one of whom is in wheelchair. Safety is a priority. Thank you.

I was going fairly slow, about 25. Approached a stop sign and my vehicle began shaking uncontrollably and I could not stop. Ended up going through the stop sign and it stopped abruptly. This could have been a deadly scenario. This is not the first time it has happened but not to this extend. Also the rear collision warning does not always work! I backed into a dumpster at work and now have thousands of dollars to repair my back hatch. I feel UNSAFE in this vehicle and driving my three year old son around in it!

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance system erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. During the failure there were no other vehicles or objects nearby. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. In addition, while making left turns there was a popping sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed and determined that the front differential was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 250.

I was driving in a shopping center parking lot and approaching a stop sign. As I was breaking and approaching the sign, I had to drive over a series of small potholes. As I went over the potholes, it seems the cars ABS system was engaged, and the car began to shake very dramatically, creating a more dangerous situation than needed to be. It seems others have had this problem as well, as I found online forums describing similar experiences driving over small rocks and bumps. It makes it harder to stop the vehicle before getting in the middle of oncoming traffic. There were no warning lamps or beeps to tell me ABS was engaged--it just started happening and only stopped when I pumped the breaks. I have not brought this up to the dealer yet and this issue has not been inspected yet, but I will be following up with the dealer as this is a brand new car. This is a link to a forum where others have experiences similar issues: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I like how tesla has created an audible and visual clue to know when the Assistive functions enable, engage and they disengage. With this hyundai, there is a steering Icon, that lights up in the instrument cluster, that we should search to confirm its engaged, and then when it disengages, it just disappears without any warining or notification that the driver is in control.

I had a flat tire with 1000 miles on the vehicle. I lowered the spare tire and retrieved the jack from the trunk. I placed the jack under the proper spot on the vehicle. I raised the jack and the threaded rod on the jack bent. When this happened I could no longer raise or lower the vehicle.I called AAA and they came out to replace the tire. At this point the jack is useless and Hyundai said it is a Courtesy that I have the Jack
