SERVICE BRAKES
53 complaints
As I approached the traffic light from a parking lot, at slow speeds ie 5mph, I hit a patch of uneven ground where the concrete was uneven. The brakes stuttered and lurched. I pumped the brakes without much success and came within inches of hitting the car ahead of me. This has happened multiple times. Another time, I was approaching an intersection again at approximately 30 mph. The brakes stuttered so hard that I barely stopped before entering the path of the oncoming traffic. On a later separate time, traveling at approximately 35 mph, we were fully in the crosswalk when the car finally stopped. These were just the scariest of times, not inclusive of all occurrences. The trouble began within the first few months of purchasing the car in 2023 and still happens. I reported this to the dealership on several occasions. They claim it is normal for the vehicle but it is a danger to the occupants in the car and the nearby pedestrians.

When coming to a stop at a slow speed on uneven ground, my vehicle would not brake. It vibrated and wouldn’t gain traction like the antilock breaking system activated. I had to pump the brake multiple times to finally get the car to stop before hitting the vehicle in front of me. This has happened multiple times when coming to a This has happened multiple times when coming to a stop over the railroad tracks. Upon researching the issue, this seems to be a frequent issue with the Hyundai palisade.

Vehicle fails to stop when braking after a bump/rough surface in the road. Near miss for rear ending another vehicle. Yes, the problem was reported and demonstrated to the dealer service technician. Yes, the manufacturer has inspected the vehicle. No warnings and has had symptoms since purchase of vehicle in 2023
Jan 21, 2026
Under normal braking pressures, crossing uneven surfaces, even as normal as markings painted on the road surfaces will result in the abs intervening to a degree beyond what is necessary or safe. No warning lamps or indicators are illuminated, but when this happens, you can hear and feel exaggerated feedback through the brake pedal. The problem has not been able to be replicated by a dealer, but this unnecessary intervention by the abs system dramatically increases stopping distances, resulting in dangerous situations such as rolling through a stop sign into oncoming traffic, or into the rear of the vehicle in front of you. Typically when this problem occurs, the abs will not stop interfering until the brake pedal is completely released and reapplied. The problem has been inspected by a dealer, but with them failing to reproduce the issue, they have not confirmed the issue yet.

When driving over uneven roads and if you need to apply the brakes abruptly, the ABS engages (shaking brake pedal) and I am unable to immediately stop my SUV until I’m back on even surface. This has occurred twice going over train track Road crossing and someone quickly needed to stop and once I was on the tracks I had to immediately brake but I could not slow down. SUV has 23000 miles.

While driving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy at about 30 mph on a small paved street, the sunroof suddenly exploded with a very loud bang. There were no other cars nearby, no debris, and nothing hit the vehicle. Thankfully, the inside sliding cover was closed, so no glass entered the cabin, but the sound was extremely alarming and could have easily caused an accident if conditions were different. The dealership refused to cover the repair under warranty. After looking online, I discovered many other Hyundai owners reporting the same issue with their panoramic sunroofs, so this does not appear to be an isolated incident. This is a major safety concern. If the interior cover had been open, shattered glass would have fallen directly onto me and my passengers, likely causing injuries. The sudden loud explosion can also startle drivers and lead to loss of control. I believe this is a dangerous defect that requires investigation.

Sun roof exploded and there is a football sized hole in the roof.
Jul 05, 2025
I was driving down the street in my neighborhood and heard an extremely loud explosion. I pulled over to check that it wasn’t the tires and that there wasn’t anything on the street. As i pulled into my driveway i heard rattling on the roof, i got out the car to check and saw that the sunroof was shattered and there was shards of glass everywhere. There did not appear to be any impacts though, just shattered glass. I had the sunroof shade closed so no glass fell on me, thank God.

AFTER REMOVING snow from my windshield, the left (driver's) side wiper is not moving. I'm trying to make an appointment with Key Hyundai of Milford, CT - the dealer does not have an appointment until February. This is a real safety issue.

Safety recall on seatbelts and no remedy big safety issues with minor children in the back
Apr 14, 2026
I purchased this car in September 2025 and learned about the seatbelt recall shortly thereafter. Since then I have been waiting for the repair- my local dealership has had the parts on back order since then. My children ride in the 2nd row and the seatbelt has come unlatched while we were driving on 5 separate occasions. This is unacceptable and put my children’s lives at risk. Hyundai should have parts available to fix this immediately. I need to know what can be done to ensure my children are safe. I have to drive my car so I don’t know what else to do. I need assistance for a solution.

Manufacturer Recall Number283 NHTSA Recall Number25V607000 I took my car to McGovern Hyundai in Arlington, MA to have the seat belt recall issue fixed. The recall was issued in September 2025. I was told that they cannot fix the issue because they do have the parts. I have children who ride in the backseat of my car everyday. It is unsafe and unacceptable for Hyundai not to have the parts to address this recall.

I've been trying to get defective seat belt replaced since December 2025 as we've had occurrences where the buckle will come unlatched. The dealer just says there are no parts available and it's been 4 months!
Mar 11, 2026
The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V607000 (SEAT BELTS); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

We were driving on a residential street, and our sunroof just exploded!

I've had two incidents with my car. I've been to the service center several times, but no one can help me. How much longer can this go on? It's been going on since September.
Mar 03, 2026
Our vehicle has yet another active recall, without a remedy. The vehicle is “unsafe in event of a crash in the third row”. I specifically bought this vehicle because I have children and need the third row. We spent 40 days with a rental vehicle in December because of a recall with a seat belt that had no remedy and are again having to request a rental. Hyundai is denying our claim for a buyback because of this new issue, which is unacceptable. This vehicle is unsafe. Hyundai cannot fix it. There needs to be a buyback.

I was driving on the highway at about 65-70 MPH and the sunroof spontaneously shattered. It sounded like an explosion. No object hit the car. We were in Nevada and the outside temp was in the mid 60s. The inside air conditioning was set at 69. We pulled over to inspect and take a picture. I have read about numerous complaints of this happening going back to the 2021 models and as recently as the 2024 models. We had the shade closed, but if it were open glass could have sprayed all over the car and into my passengers eyes, faces, etc. It is scary and dangerous.
Feb 14, 2026
I was driving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade at 75 mph on I25 in Northern Colorado when I heard a terribly loud noise like an explosion above my head. I jerked but kept control of the car. My immediate thought was that something dropped on my roof but I wasn't under an overpass. Frantically looking in all directions, I saw something dark flying in the air towards the side of the road. At the same time, motorcycles traveling behind me were moving out of my lane. I pulled over and found my Sunroof had instantaneously exploded outwards. There were bits of glass everywhere. It was certainly a startling driver safety issue that caused me to jerk the wheel. At highway speeds, it is fortunate that I didn't lose control or roll my vehicle. If the inside sunroof cover had been open as it is most of the time, bits of glass would have exploded all over the inside of the car showering the driver and passengers, including their faces and eyes. It was a terribly dangerous situation. I immediately reported it to my dealer who would not even look at the car. The dealer said they don't deal with glass. They recommended a glass installer, Anders Glass. Anders didn't deal with sunroofs. They sent me to NOVUS Glass who inspected, sealed up, then ordered and replaced the unit with a used sunroof. The problem couldn't be reproduced because the sunroof was shattered. There are no glass warning lights. No other warning lights, messages or symptoms appeared before or after the sunroof spontaneously exploded outward.

Rear Shocks Failed. Were Replaced under warranty. This is the second time this has occurred
Mar 06, 2026
I am writing to report a recurring safety-related issue with my 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The rear shocks on my vehicle failed at approximately 29,000 miles and were replaced under warranty. Unfortunately, the same components have failed again at around 65,000 miles, resulting in a noticeably rough, unstable, and unsafe ride. The repeated failure of these suspension parts raises concerns about the durability and reliability of the vehicle’s rear shock system, as well as the potential risk it poses to occupants and other drivers. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed to determine whether a broader defect investigation is warranted.
Jan 23, 2026
I am experiencing recurring failure of the rear self-leveling shock absorbers on my 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. This is a repeat failure after a warranty repair approximately 10 months ago in which both rear shock absorbers were replaced along with the upper insulators per TSB 22-SS-001H. Current Symptoms: The noise occurs on both sides, primarily at lower speeds (under 20 mph), and is most noticeable when the vehicle is turning and weight transfers off a wheel, or when encountering a series of small, sharp impacts. The noise does not occur consistently with every bump but appears related to suspension unloading. Abnormal "pogo-ing" behavior: On smooth road surfaces at speeds between approximately 5-20 mph (such as in slow traffic on freshly paved roads), the rear of the vehicle exhibits a rapid, repetitive bouncing motion that jolts passengers forward and back. This behavior is pronounced enough that passengers have noticed and questioned it. Symptoms are noticeably worse in cold weather and improve somewhat in warm conditions. The rear suspension feels firmer after the vehicle has sat unused for several days. After regular driving, the suspension becomes softer and more compliant. This is a widely documented problem affecting 2020-2025 Hyundai Palisade models equipped with the Nivomat shocks, per Carscoops Hyundai is aware of the problem. Online forums and complaint databases contain hundreds of similar reports. Many owners report multiple shock replacements under warranty, with some experiencing 3-7 replacements on a single vehicle. The replacement parts appear to be the same design as the original components and fail at similar or accelerated rates. This issue can affect vehicle stability and braking distances, making it a concerning safety issue. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this recurring suspension failure as a safety defect warranting a recall and the development of properly redesigned replacement components for affected vehicles.

I'm also a victim of Hyundai's defective Rear suspension. Another complain fully encompasses my situation and feelings. I and others have been replacing rear shocks every 10,000 to 20,000 miles due to failure. The upper trim models will use a self-leveling shock in the rear suspension, part number(s) 55367-S8BDO right side and 55367-S8BBO left side. The lower model trim uses a larger coil spring and non-self-leveling shocks, with no issues. The failure happens within just a few thousand miles. Search web forums for Hyundai Palisades and NHTSA you will find hundreds of issues. The model years affected are 2020 through 2025. The 2026 has completely changes the rear suspension setup and eliminated the self-leveling shock. It appears IMO the manufacture is counting on the warranty expiring and or the resale market to correct their problem. Hyundai refuses to recall the vehicles and correct the problem. They will change the shocks with the same faulty product biding their time. The third most common critical reason for a car accident cited in the NHTSA report was a combination of “steering/suspension/transmission/engine-related problems.” This combination category accounted for just 3 percent of the traffic accidents cited in the report. Part of the reason why these mechanical failures are rarely cited as the critical reason for a car accident is that they’re harder to document and identify post-crash. Blown tires & worn brakes are easy to spot, but problems with the suspension caused by wear and tear are harder to sort out from the damage incurred in the crash. Steering and suspension problems can cause a loss of control over your vehicle at inopportune moments. Transmission and engine problems could keep you from being able to accelerate quickly if the need arises—leaving you stranded in an intersection with oncoming traffic and at risk of a car accident.

The vehicle was brought to the dealership at around 17,000 miles with concerns regarding a clunky sound and hesitation in acceleration. The issue is extremely noticeable while turning and accelerating. No warning lights, messages or audible chimes show up when the issue occurs. Due to the vehicle hesitation on acceleration and the clunky / bouncy feeling in the steering wheel, my wife and I think there is a safety concern (e.g. being hit due to unresponsiveness of the vehicle). The problem was reproduced/confirmed by a dealer, and the rear coupling assembly was replaced. Fast forward 18,000 miles (vehicle now has ~35,000 miles) and the exact same issue is occurring again. I am schedule to take the vehicle back into the dealership for this concern, another concern with the ABS system and general maintenance.

When you were at a complete stop and go to make a turn, the backend makes a clunking noise it almost hesitates like it’s having a hard time going and feels like it wants to lock up. I brought it to the dealership. They told me it was my tires and I needed an alignment. I brought it to a tire shop. I got an alignment. They told me it was not my tires. They believe it to be a differential.

11/16/2024: I was at a complete stop at a stoplight waiting for it turn green so I could turn left. When the light turned green, I pressed on the accelerator and made it about half way through the intersection when I noticed that the car had stopped accelerating but could hear and see the RMPs going up. I looked down to see if I had accidentally put it into neutral, but the DRIVE light button was still lit up. Luckily, I was close to my destination and was able to roll into the parking lot without getting trapped by traffic. I turned my car off and when I came back to it, it started and everything seem normal. 12/20/24: I drove to my office to pick up packages to mail. Then I was going to run a few errands with my mother-in-law before my 10:15 am appointment for an oil change at my Hyundai dealer. As we were turning left out of my office across 2 lanes of traffic, my car did the same thing it had done in November. This time, I had traffic approaching me from both directions. My car had enough inertia to finish the turn, but it would not respond to the accelerator. Both my mother-in-law and I were trying to figure out what was going on because she could feel it and noticed the RPMs going up without any acceleration. We intentionally looked at the "drive" button to make sure neither of us had somehow knocked into neutral. The cars coming up from behind ended up passing me on the right. Eventually, maybe 15-30 seconds later, my car "kicked back into gear" and we were able to drive normally. I took the car directly to the dealer. Told them what had happened and asked for a loaner car until they had figured it out. I had the loaner car for about 5 days and the dealership said they couldn't replicate the problem. They told me to try video it if it happens again. I laughed nervously and asked which part they wanted me to video tape while driving??? It has not happened again, but seems to have happened with other Palisades.

At approximately 645 this morning my vehicle began hesitating and jerking as I pulled away from a stoplight. Approaching cars from behind nearly impaled me as my vehicle went from 10 mph to 20mh, then quickly decelerated to 10mph without engaging the brake. I turned my hazard lights on and slowly pulled into the closest neighborhood. There, I parked the vehicle, turned off the engine, and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle’s engine sputtered upon restart, the check, engine light came on and a notification (pictured) appeared on the infotainment screen. At 7 AM I called my closest Hyundai dealership to schedule an appointment to address the notification for the check engine, the open recall and routine maintenance. The dealer stated the issue might be the transmission. The powertrain warranty does not cover rental, however they will issue partial reimbursement after rental period. Also, directed to call regarding the warranty while at dealer on Tuesday.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud popping sound coming from the roof of the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle off to the side of the road to inspect the roof and became aware that the center of the sunroof glass had shattered. The contact immediately pulled the shade to prevent glass from falling inside the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer; however, the contact called a local dealer to schedule the replacement of the sunroof glass. The dealer advised the contact to schedule an appointment with an automotive glass specialist. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,602.

Driving on the interstate and sunroof just exploded. Sounded like a shotgun going off. Some glass entered the passenger compartment and went down the back of my sweater. Traffic was light and no other vehicle was close to me. Have only had the vehicle for 11 months and never have opened the sunroof. Dealer was unsure of warranty coverage. The first time this happened I was at a light waiting for it to turn green. My car went into a shutdown mode and gave me a message of " Auto Stop is Off. Shift to P or N Start Engine Manually". I tried repeatedly to restart the car after putting it into park, but it wouldn't respond. Finally, after 5 minutes of sitting blocking traffic, the engine started, and I drove away. This has now been happening off and on for 3 days. I cannot be stranded in a 50 mile an hour zone blocking traffic. It's an accident waiting to happen. After doing some research online I discovered this has been happening to Hyundai vehicles of different models for over 8 years! Why has Hyundai not recalled this? I think it's a manipulation to force you into one of their shops. I contacted several Hyundai dealerships to speak with someone who knows of this issue. One service manager told me it sounds like it needs a computer update. I ask the cost, and he said $260 and that does not guarantee it will fix the problem.

In Snow Mode, I was at a complete stop and then pushed on the gas pedal to go, the car did not accelerate. I pumped the pedal, still nothing. The car moved slowly like it was in neutral, but would not accelerate. I was trying to turn left at an intersection, it was very scary. I could have gotten rear ended or T-boned. The car finally moved when I changed the driving mode to Smart Mode. The exact scenario has happened several times to me and my husband when driving in snow mode. It happens from a full stop.
Jan 28, 2025
Within the first month after the purchase in late August 2022, the car would shake when turning onto road. Depressing the gas peddle did nothing. The speedometer would not go over 20 mph, but the car was not moving, only coasting. The RPM would jump to over 3000 RPM. Again, the car is not moving, only coasting. There was no engine noise, only the sound of the gas pedal hitting the floor. Subsequent pumps of the gas peddle did nothing, but about 20-30 seconds of this behavior, the car would start to kick into Drive. There were no instrument panel alarms, warnings, or lights. By October 2022, the problem occurred every time I drove the car first thing after it had been off for several hours. For the rest of Fall, Winter, and Spring with temperatures under 30 degrees, this problem would occur. I have to use one of 2 highways to leave my home. Both highways were dangerous for this problem. I had to wait for no traffic as far as I could see, but with coasting speeds and no control, it didn't take long for traffic to catch up. In some cases, after a turn onto a highway or 2-lane busy street, there was no where to coast off the road. I used hazard lights a lot, but it was clear that the danger was significant. The third cold weather season is coming soon. The problem will most certainly occur has it has every year since we purchased it. The problem seems to occur at intersections where this is a greater than 5% grade. It does not occur on a flat grade. The dealer tells us that unless their diagnostic equipment from Hyundai USA cannot detect a problem, then they cannot do a repair. Even though the technicians witnessed the problem away from the dealership, they cannot make it fail at the dealership. They want to keep the car for days or weeks, but we've been through this and I turned them down. Hyundai USA keeps telling me to file a claim, which I did. To date, I have not received any further correspondence since I filed it.

SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

System that malfunctioned was the braking system Safety was risked because vehicle doesn’t stop as it should at low speed below 30mph. Safety of occupants as well pedestrians and other motorists affected. Problem can be reproduced although dealer refused to confirm. I am in the process of getting it confirmed independently. Vehicle and components not inspected by manufacturer, police nor insurance. Although I am in the process of putting an insurance claim in. The issue has been reported and confirmed by several other owners of same make and model and year. No prior warning of issue to it happening. The problem: At low speed below 30mph and braking simultaneously when going over rough ground (non slippery), potholes or in my accident going over a 6” drain to my garage, the ABS kicks in when it shouldn’t and the brake pedal vibrates and the vehicle lurches a bit. The result is that the braking distance increases significantly. I can reproduce the issue in particular roads areas. The accident I had involved when I was parking the car and the drain cover was dislodged at the entrance to the garage. I hit the brakes as usual but the brakes were ineffective and I ended up crashing into my refrigerator and freezer in the garage which took the full brunt of the impact and were damaged. I hardly had any brakes at all and the fridges took the full impact. Luckily it was at low speed. So only the front bumper got cracked and got damaged along with the fridges being fully crushed in. After the incident I was so shocked at what happened and couldn’t believe I lost the brakes so I found that several other owners of the same vehicle has had the same or even severe brake failures. I was able to replicate the problem fairly consistently in certain roads where it was slightly bumpy or rough. I didn’t want to try in my garage for obvious reasons. Furthermore the emergency brakes and collision warning did not activate either.

Crash: 1
ABS kicks on while going slowly over uneven, bumpy roads, or train tracks. The entire car vibrates and I cannot stop the vehicle even when hitting the brake as hard as possible. The car continues forward for a few seconds after causing me to nearly rear-end other vehicles stopped at a red light.

This is a known issue happening to Palisades and Hyundai isn’t acknowledging the issue. A braking issue has been going on for a while but hadn’t become a safety concern for me until this month. While braking but moving under 10mph, even less, the ABS system will engage without warning when driving over bumps or somewhat uneven road surface. This includes speed bumps. This has happened to me multiple times but never caused me to be in harms way until this month. I was braking for a stop light on a road with numerous small potholes. As I was slowing to stop, the ABS issue occurred. I braked as hard as I could but continued to get the push back/the automatic pumping action of the ABS system and continued moving forward. The car was shaking as well. I continued pushing the brake/attempting to get the brake to engage the entire time, and my car finally stopped, mere inches away from rear ending the car stopped in front of me. I was slowing at a safe distance and would have stopped at more than a safe enough distance away if my car had let me stop. Now I’m deathly afraid of hitting a bump or some sort of uneven road when I need to stop and my car not stopping and hitting someone else, something else, or losing further control of the vehicle. No lights came on or any noises made to indicate a system was activated. My car also didn’t warn me of a possible collision and didn’t stop on its own, as it’s capable of doing. It’s as if the ABS issue overrode everything and my car just wouldn’t brake. I’ve never experienced anything like this with any other vehicle, driving on the same exact roads.

I was approaching a stop sign, slowing down to around ~20 mph, then gently applied the brakes. All of a sudden, the car stared to lurch forward and the steering wheel shuddered violently as the ABS braking appeared to kick in. As the brakes were applied, the vehicle kept bouncing forward in spurts rather than stopping and it took almost twice as long to stop than it should have. There was a vehicle in front of me and my vehicle was a foot from rear-ending that car despite me slowing in advance and attempting to brake gently. The collision warning system kicked in and I suspect that the vehicle stopped itself, even though I was firmly holding the brake pedal down. My wife experienced te identical situation a week later, so this is becoming very concerning. A quick search on the internet has revealed that many other 2023 & 2024 model year have experienced the same issues, and apparently Hyundai USA is aware of the issue, but do not have a solution to fix it yet.

My 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy which I bought in July 2023 failed to start in May 2024 inside my house garage. It had an error message of "Check ESC" where ESC stands for electronic stability control. After trying a couple of more times to start it, it completely died. Had it tow to the dealer and after a few days in the dealer, they told me it was a dead battery. The car went from no warnings at all to completely being dead inside my garage. No explanation of why the battery did not warn of any issues or why a "check ESC" warning code was displayed instead of displaying a "low battery" code. A search in the internet shows an unbelievable amount of accounts of these Hyundai Palisades suddenly causing the car to die and an "check ESC" code showing immediately after the car dies down. There has to be issues with these cars bacause this issue seems to be happening very often.

I purchased my Hyndai Palisade on 06/14/2023 from Temecula Hyundai. We had the car for a week and then the car sat for three days. I went to get in it and found the battery was completely drained. Jump started the car and drove for two days. Going to leave my house and the battery was again drained. Took the car to the dealership and they said I had a bad battery. They replaced it. Took the car home. The following week we had the same issue, drained battery. Took the car back to the dealership. They had the car for two weeks and said a junction box was bad and causing a parasitic drain. They replaced the junction box and we got the car back. Drove the car for a week and went to Laughlin. The car was parked for two days and the car would not start. Completely drained battery. We got the car jump started and drove if for a bit. Parked it and the next morning the battery was again dead. Taking the car back to the dealership again for the third time for the same problem. We believe the car has an electrical defect somewhere causing this. The dealership has had the car more than we have and I have no confidence they will find the problem.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that the seat belts had become inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the seat belts were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V034000 (Air Bags). The contact no longer wanted the vehicle due to safety concerns. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

I am writing to file a complaint regarding four recalls on my 2023 Hyundai Palisade in the past year, two of which remain unresolved due to lack of parts or remedy. We received notification of the seatbelt recall in October and scheduled with our local Hyundai dealership. Upon arriving at our appointment, we were told there were no parts to complete the repair and that there was a months long waitlist because Hyundai corporate was only sending out a limited number per dealership. Those parts had to be installed before each dealership could order more resulting in a huge back order. I called two other dealerships in our area and all had the same story. It has now been nearly 6 months and I called again to be informed there was another recall on this recall and they have stopped fixing it altogether with no ETA on resolution. In addition, while waiting for the seatbelt recall remedy, we were notified of the third row airbags being defective and there is currently not even a waitlist, remedy, or ETA for resolution for this one either. With the seatbelts unsafe on the first two rows and the airbags unsafe in the third row our entire car doesn’t have a single safe seat for our family, including two children under the age of [XXX] , to sit. This is totally irresponsible on Hyundai’s part and I think they need to be held responsible for all of these mismanaged recalls. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Hyundai’s handling of these recalls and consider requiring interim accommodations for affected owners, such as loaner vehicles or vehicle buyback. Hyundai has opened an internal case, number 42429100 Their only resolution is to leave the vehicle at a dealership and rent a car at my own expense. They have offered to give me a slight discount on a trade, but all comparable vehicles are under safety recalls as well. They have offered no effective solution and I have no manner to safely transport my family. The vehicle is subject to an active safety recall (NHTSA Recall 26V034) for failure to meet federal ejection mitigation standards (FMVSS 226) due to curtain airbag performance in the third row. According to the manufacturer, there is currently no available remedy for this condition. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealership, which confirmed that the recall is active and that no repair can be performed at this time. A separate seatbelt-related recall was completed during the inspection. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the recall notices. Because there is no available remedy and no timeline for repair, the vehicle cannot be restored to a condition that meets federal safety standards within a reasonable timeframe. This impacts the ability to safely transport occupants, particularly in scenarios involving side impact or rollover crashes where ejection mitigation is required. The manufacturer has not provided a functional resolution, such as a loaner vehicle or alternative transportation, and advised leaving the vehicle at the dealership without support. This leaves the owner without a safe and usable vehicle for normal family transportation.

I own a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited that currently has confirmed active safety recalls affecting critical passenger safety systems, including the third-row side-curtain airbag recall and the second-row seat belt buckle recall. We have experienced firsthand the seat belts coming unbuckled during driving. These recalls affect hundreds of thousands of Palisade vehicles and involve defects where third-row airbags may not properly deploy in a crash and seat belt buckles may fail to latch correctly, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Despite contacting my dealership, I have been given inconsistent information and no clear remedy timeline, leaving me with a vehicle that I reasonably believe is unsafe to operate and significantly diminished in value. I am seeking legal review regarding potential class action participation, consumer protection claims, or compensation for owning a vehicle with unresolved safety defects. At this time their only remedy offered is to swap the palisade for a lender Santa Fe until it is repaired, this is something I have pressed for persistently to achieve.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V607000 (SEAT BELTS) and 26V034000 (AIR BAGS). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver’s side seat belt buckle unlatched from the channel independently. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that parts for the recall repairs were on back order, and only fifteen seat belt buckles were being shipped to dealers, and each vehicle needed four seat belts. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had not experienced a failure with the air bags. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

This is the second time I’ve had this incident. I was driving in the middle of nowhere Texas, no other cars or pedestrians were present. There were no overpasses or construction and out of nowhere. My sunroof exploded at 50 miles an hour. The weather was fair around 60°. This being the second time it had happened. I knew it was a sunroof and did not open the cover to inspect. I pulled over, got out of my car and looked and saw that my sunroof had blown out and upwards. The first time this happened, it was covered with minimal effort. Now that this has happened a second time with the car less than two years old I have to wait for the manufacturer to confirm it will be covered again.

The sunroof glass exploded while traveling on the highway. The glass panel was closed shut about a minute before the incident. Small and large glass fragments entered the passenger cabin while traveling at highway speed. One large fragment caused a small laceration to the drivers arm. Another fragment struck the vehicle traveling behind and caused minor damage. Other large and small fragments landed on 2nd row passengers. There was no evidence of a foreign object or road debris causing this incident.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Recently, the emergency braking system has been activated without warning on multiple occasions, including while driving on the freeway and local streets, even when no obstacles were present. This unexpected braking could potentially lead to dangerous situations, especially at high speeds. The emergency braking system unexpectedly activates without any obstruction, indicating a possible malfunction with the front sensor or ABS system. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The unexpected activation of the emergency braking system, especially at high speeds on highways, poses a significant risk of rear-end collisions, sudden deceleration, and potential accidents involving other vehicles. The issue has been observed but not definitively confirmed or resolved by the Hyundai dealership, which suggested recalibration of the front sensor without assurance of a solution. The vehicle was inspected by a Hyundai dealership but has not been evaluated by other entities like the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. The issue occurred suddenly and unpredictably on various occasions. My experience is not an isolated case; I have found numerous reports from other Hyundai Palisade owners who have encountered similar issues, with no definitive solution provided. I urge NHTSA to investigate this issue thoroughly and instruct Hyundai to offer necessary repairs at no cost, given the potential risk to drivers, passengers, and others on the roads.

On 7/26/2024 vehicle in to dealer because warning light coming on if doing 55-65 mph stating front radar blocked, front safety system disabled. Vehicle at that time had 15,488 miles on it. Told dealer warning light does NOT come on while local driving to stores, for gas etc. Dealer said radar module had damage due to "minor collision". Not so, I am [XXX] uses car for local trips mostly. Contacted service manager at dealer--- Conicelli in Conshohocken PA pursuant to procedure to be followed in Warranty booklet, no relief. He tried to push me to make a claim with my auto carrier which I did not. This is a warranty claim not a collision claim. I then contacted Hyundai direct & they also tried to steer me to a auto collision claim. I declined & filed a claim for ADR with the BBB & it is pending. Going on line I see this appears to be a common complaint with the Hyundai radar module. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact stated he had crashed into the curb on the opposite side of the road with his front passenger side tire and came to a stop. The contact stated that there was no damage, however, the steering wheel was off-center at 45 degree to the left. The contact stated that he could steer the vehicle in a straight line, but the steering wheel was at a 45-degree angle, as if he was turning to the left. The contact stated that after the crash numerous warning lights were illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer who determined that the front passenger side tie rod was bent and that all of the collision sensors and the ABS module and the steering column sensor needed to be replaced. The contact was advised that the advanced collision sensors could not be reset. The right front passenger tie rod had been replaced. The vehicle had been partially repaired. The contact stated that the dealer could not determine why the sensors could not be reset. The vehicle sensor system had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,800. The VIN was unavailable.

This happened several times: When I drive my 2023 Palisade with Speed Limit Assist engaged, the computer frequently out of the blue detects 25 or 30-mile speed limited signs that are not there and abruptly changes the speed down to 25 or 30 miles per hour. This has nearly caused two accidents as I was driving with 60 miles per hour and the Palisade suddenly slowed down to 30 miles per hour and drivers were only narrowly able to avoid hitting the rear of my car. This is dangerous and needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt or killed. I will report this one NHTSA and Consumer Reports. Please get back with me as soon as possible. I reported this to Hyundai as well. Case number: 22178478

On four separate occasions, the forward collision assist turned on when a car in front of my car has moved over into a turning lane and they slow down. The car aggressively brakes, and on two occasions has come to a complete stop in the middle of the road, not allowing me to move the car until the warning goes away. I was nearly rear ended on two occasions because of the cars sudden aggressive braking. I called the Dealer service number department and they told me they wouldn’t be able to diagnose the issue without trying to reproduce the issue which neither they nor I felt comfortable with. With the exception of the warning coming on during the event, there are no other warnings visible and the car returns to normal once it figures out there was no collision.

We heard a very loud gunshot noise on 2023-10-20 while traveling on the I40 during a weekend road trip. We immediately got off the upcoming exit to inspect the tires for a blowout and other vehicle issues, however no issues were seen. No 18 wheelers or construction vehicles were near us at the time of the event. Later on we kept hearing a rattling sound that was baffling. The shattered moonroof was discovered when the shade was slightly cracked when inspecting the culprit of the rattling noise. I immediately closed the cracked moonroof shade and checked the top of the vehicle to discover a huge hole in the moonroof. Thankfully the sunshade protected us from the shattered glass and no one was hurt. The vehicle was taken to the dealership upon returning home on 2023-10-23 for an inspection and they observed it appeared that the moonroof blew out (up position). The dealership will be covering the replacement of the moonroof under warranty.

Vehicle loses power during driving and unable to accelerate further. It slows down by itself and nearly stops on the highway. This has happened at least three times and almost caused an accident. Took it to a Hyundai dealership and was told it was fixed just to experience a similar problem the next day. They gave me a rental Hyundai Santa Fe and I experienced the same issue with loss of acceleration power and vehicle slowly down despite trying to accelerate.
Jan 07, 2024
My wife was merging on a freeway overpass and slammed her foot into the gas peddle for a few seconds to accelerate for the merging. Her speed of travel was around 75MPH when she put her foot into it. After reaching around 82MPH she released the gas peddle for the merger. The auto's RMP shot up to around 5K and maintained the high rpm for around 5-6 sec after she released the peddle. During these few seconds the car maintained the high rate of speed and the motor was very loud. My wife pumped the gas peddle twice in rapid succession and the RPM's the wend back down and the car returned to its normal operation. Questions from above: The component was the engine: A loud revving sound and indicated by the tac hitting 5K RPM after the the gas petal was released. This was the first indecent and if repeated, we will file another report. It has not been reported to or confirmed by any dealer or independent service center. The component has not been inspected. Due to this being the first occurrence the exact competent causing the issue would be unknown. There were not warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior or post issue.

[XXX] at [XXX] (Palisade was in SMART mode). I made a U-Turn and coming out of the turn I stepped in the gas and nothing happened; however, the engine was racing and held steady at 3,000 RPMs. The vehicle did NOT respond after multiple attempts at stepping on the gas pedal or simply stepping off the gas pedal - the engine/transmission was racing loud at 3,000 RPMs for about 7-10 seconds until the vehicle corrected itself. This is obviously a safety issue since I had no ability to accelerate and could have been rear-ended. I went to AutoZone and ran OBD diagnostics and nothing showed up. I then made appt at Dealership with the description above and they recorded the incident as "a hesitation issue", then said it was due to the Auto-Start being on! WHAT!? I was not happy and made them read the description AGAIN and now writing this NHTSA safety issue. I feel like they purposely mis-recorded the issue and tried to send me on my way. Sporadically, when in snow mode, the car refuses to accelerate at all. Moderate pressing of the gas pedal or completely flooring it, the car will not respond and accelerate. The only way to fix this is to change it out of snow mode. This does not happen 100% of the time when in snow mode. It is sporadic. This has happened multiple times to me and it always seems to occur when in the middle of making a turn, while accelerating, while in snow mode. The car will accelerate to about 25 or 30 mph and then all power is completely lost. The tachometer does not show any change and the gauge that shows acceleration power being sent to the individual wheels, at 0. This is extremely dangerous and has almost caused me to get in multiple accidents.
Oct 16, 2024
I was operating the vehicle in “snow” mode. I had made a stop and attempted to turn onto the highway. The vehicle started off ok it seemed for conditions but when I went to accelerate the vehicle had no power despite pushing all the way down on the peddle. The vehicle continued to slow as I was trying to get pulled over and figure out what was going on. We maybe made it 50 yards max before the car was at almost a full stop. Suddenly the acceleration kicked back in and we were able to go. The car acted like the bumper cars at the fair where you can’t go at all and then suddenly the power kicks in. Luckily there was no traffic coming behind me otherwise we could have been rear ended at highway speeds. VERY unsafe condition and someone could easily be injured or killed because of this if they were to get hit. Had I been turning left I might not have even made it across the road

The TPMS does not alert at the required safety standard of 25% or the recommended PSI. The recommended PSI for the 2023 Palisade is 35. 25% drop would be 26.25. Even driving on 26PSI can be potentially deadly depending on how worn your tires are. I have found my tires at 27-28 PSI at least 3 times since purchasing the vehicle with no alert. The dealership tested what PSI sets off the TPMS warning light to make sure it does trigger a warning, and it was 25 PSI. They said they tested a few other palisades they had on lot currently and all were triggered at 25 PSI. This is unacceptable! Driving a heavier SUV, they should be required to trigger a warning at 5 PSI dip to avoid excessive low-pressure tire wear and dangerous driving conditions. These are family vehicles carrying children.
Feb 20, 2024
Since brand new the TPMS has not alerted to low tire pressure. 3 times I have caught the tires at 27.5PSI without a warning light. Between that and a suspension problem that causes the car to pull to the right even after 2 all-wheel alignments, my tires have around 6-8/32 tread left after 11,000 miles and 1.5 years.

Hyundai issued recall 292 "A VEHICLES THAT FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THIS STANDARD MIGHT HAVE INCREASED RISK OF INJURY TO THIRD ROW OCCUPANTS DURING CERTAIN CRASHES INCLUDING A ROLLOVER." on January 22, 2026. As of the time of this filing, February 4, 2026, there is no remedy available. The Palisaid I own is impacted and we are unable to safely use the vehicle as intended for 3 of the 7 vehicle seats. I have contacted Hyundai Corporate and was assigned a case manager; as of February 3, 2026, his response was "I completely understand that one of your primary reasons for purchasing this vehicle was to accommodate your family using the third-row seating, and I truly apologize on behalf of HMA for the inconvenience this situation has caused. At this time, because the vehicle remains operational, we are unfortunately unable to offer compensation or an alternate vehicle until an official remedy becomes available. Please know that we recognize how frustrating this experience can be, and we appreciate your patience while we await further updates." I am reporting a recurring, life-threatening electronic failure in my 2023 Hyundai Palisade. On [XXX], while turning into an intersection, the vehicle's brakes spontaneously engaged, stalling the car in the path of oncoming traffic. During this event, multiple critical safety systems failed simultaneously, including the headlights and horn, leaving me unable to warn other drivers. A "violent" surge was required to clear the intersection, risking a high-speed collision. Similar spontaneous recurrences occurred on [XXX] and [XXX], and most recently on [XXX]. These incidents are characterized by "phantom braking," total loss of propulsion, and a complete lack of interior/exterior electronic response. Technical Evidence: Diagnostic scans revealed 16 distinct fault codes (including C161608, C181287, and U012687) involving the Chassis Control Module, Electronic Control Unit (ECU), and communication buses. Despite these logged codes, Hyundai and the dealership have repeatedly returned the vehicle to me, stating they "cannot replicate" the issue, thereby dismissing a documented electronic record of failure. Arbitration Status: I entered into BBB Auto Line Arbitration (Case #[XXX]). Hyundai has contested the claim by attempting to manipulate the "start date" of the defect to February 2024 to avoid Lemon Law statutes, despite dealer records confirming the first occurrence in August 2023. As of January 13, 2026, the dealership is again attempting to force me to take delivery of the unrepaired vehicle. This vehicle is a "phantom" safety hazard. The manufacturer’s inability to replicate a logged electronic fault during a brief test drive does not mitigate the extreme risk of sudden braking and power loss at highway speeds. I am requesting a formal investigation into these specific fault codes and the electronic integrity of this model. I recently put unscreened millings on the road end of my gravel driveway. When coming to a slow stop before entering the public road I now experience the brake vibration or chattering with deminished braking responce. Fortunately, I have not experienced this while driving on a public road in 35,000 miles.

The headlights are fogging up on the inside of headlight with condensation. This problem will lead to two issues. The ability to see at night and I believe the plastic lens will become damaged over time. My friend who has the same type of vehicle including year has the same issue. His vehicle was in a accident. The part for the headlight was $1500. I looked inside the headlight and their are packages of Dri-eaz to absorb the condensation. Since these packages will only absorb for a limited time the issue appears will only get worse and the Manufacture must have know of this issue.

While sitting at a stop sign, I attempted to place my vehicle in Park. I opened the driver’s side door, but the car had not actually shifted into Park. None of the vehicle’s safety systems engaged when the door was opened. The car rolled forward with me partially outside the vehicle, dragging me until it struck a tree. This incident reflects a critical failure in the vehicle’s electrical/safety systems: •The transmission did not engage Park when selected. •The door-open rollaway prevention system did not activate. •The automatic front collision system failed to stop the vehicle. Because multiple electronic safeguards failed at the same time, this appears to be an electrical or computer system malfunction rather than driver error.

I have lost all confidence in this vehicle and my family, and I are scared to drive in (especially my 5 year old daughter). The mechanical failures that were experienced during these events were intense and life risking. During the first incident the vehicle brakes engaged while driving and caused the vehicle to stall in the middle of an intersection while turning left to enter highway, numerous vehicles were traveling in opposite direction and could have resulted in head on collision. No systems worked during this event, neither the horn nor the headlights worked to signal other vehicles of problem. Had to slam on the gas, which led to violent vehicle take off, that jolted my daughter around in her car seat and narrowly avoided collision with other vehicles. That was on [XXX], and similar events happened on [XXX] and [XXX]. Video and pictures of event were taken as they occurred on [XXX] event. Claim (Case#: XXX) was opened with Hyundai Consumer Affairs on [XXX]. All videos and pictures were shared on multiple occasions with Hyundai Team. Hyundai refused to repurchase the vehicle under Lemon Law provisions and cited that the issue didn’t start until the [XXX] event, which exceeds the 12-month statute. However, the issues started in Aug of 2023 and the dealer service records clearly document this. Hyundai insists that since they could not replicate the issue it didn’t start until Feb 1, when they were able to replicate. I don’t agree with this view and should not be penalized because of Hyundai’s technical limitations. Furthermore, they were perfectly fine with using my family as Guinee Pigs as they instructed me to continue driving the car and bring it when it happened again. Completely dismissing the gravity and potential consequences of the events, as described above, that took place on [XXX]. This vehicle has proven to have major malfunctions and should be removed from circulation immediately. On [XXX] the engine light went on my 2023 Hyundai palisade SUV. Immediately I drove over the Hyundai dealership to try to find out what the problem was. On my way there, the light remained on, and the car kept making movements as if it was going to turn off, I could barely make the speed increase as I was driving. I went to Healey Hyundai located at 794 Route 52 Fishkill Ny 12524 phone number 845 831 1090 . In spite, the car light on and the issues they refused to attend the car and asked me to go back Monday morning, which I did , same issued on my way there, and I arrived there with the engine light on , service advisor Rasheena M Dyer , took the car, saw the light on, took pictures and asked me to wait for the mechanic to review the car. After two hours the service advisor, said “ there’s nothing we could do, or anything could do, the car is misfiring and anything could be causing the car to misfired, the mechanic don’t see the light right now, therefore, we can’t diagnose anything, but the car is misfiring “. I replied:” my car is under 50,000 miles and under manufacturer warranty, can you give me a rental, while you fixed the engine problem, I have 5 children , how can I drive around with my kids with an engine light on and the issues is giving me”, she replied: we won’t give you a rental because we don’t know what the problem is , ( although they know and said the car motor is misfiring )unless you pay $200 dollars . They sent me away with the engine light on, and the car making sounds and movements as if is going to go off anytime . Hyundai refused to help me although the engine lights are on and my car is still under warranty. I took the car that same day to Monro auto service at 64 north plank road ,Newburgh Ny 12550, and the checked the car and confirmed that there’s nothing wrong with the oil, or filters as the dealership try to implied , is an engine-firing problem that again, Hyundai dealership refuses to fix. First issue was engine misfire and loss of power while on the highway in the middle of no where. Car eventually died and was restarted. It happened twice at around 1700 miles on the odometer. Second issue is when the rear panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. I’m very thankful my daughter was not in the rear seat, as this happened while driving normal speeds. Sounded like gun shot. The sunroof spontaneously combusting seems to be a problem dating back to 2018 according to other reports online. Mine is a 2023.

I noticed my right rear tire skidded on the road when I turned. Went to dealer. They didn't find anything. Leaving a drive through once I hit the other road crossing my tire did the same. It felt like the break was not releasing. Yesterday leaving my driveway we slowed down and both rear tires felt like you were dribbling a ball. As if the breaks were going on and off. It was less than 15 seconds but it was scary. I read an article where in other states other Palisades are having the same issue and they were not repaired. It has to do with the abs per the article. No warning signs pop up on my dashboard. I'm glad I don't drive fast. I'm worried something worse can happen. I did not report to police there was no accident.

Over sensitive ABS when going over bums or bumpy roads the breaks get really hard , makes a loud cranking noise and break peddle starts shaking really bad unable to bring the car to a complete stop I’ve taken it in and they said they couldn't mimic that reaction. It feels very unsafe specially when you have little kids in they car.

After pressing side button on seat for auto folding function the seat will no longer lock into its track. I took the vehicle to the dealership for a repair and was advised it will be a month before the part arrives on my 2 day old vehicle. I'm completely disgusted at the thought my child could be killed by a seat that just slides back and forth with nothing stopping forward or rear movement other than my drivers seat or the rear 3rd row seat. I'm pretty sure in an event of an accident forward motion to that degree would probably cause severe if not deadly injures. I currently have no use of my LS middle seat or my third row due to a ratchet strap holding the seat from plunging into my back when i brake. (Using the child restraint tether points on the back of the seats). Vehicle is avaliable for inspection if needed.

HYUNDAI PALISADE 2023 ENGINE STALLING / WON'T ACCELERATE IN SNOW/ICY ROADS. I have now experienced this engine stalling issue several time on my Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy 2023. It has only happened in "snow mode" so far. The car basically dies, no acceleration, no matter how hard you accelerate or floor it. I called the dealership named "Great Lakes Hyundai" in Dublin, Ohio and they said they basically can't do anything since this issue is intermittent. I will be filling a complaint with NHTSA and other state and regulatory agencies. Hyundai needs to fix this issue before people start dying on the snowy/icy roads. These are expensive cars and should not be dying on the roads like this, plus this is a very dangerous situation where the car just dies and does not respond to acceleration. No warning lights of any kind display on the dashboard. You put car in "ECO Mode", it starts driving. The car never lose traction when this issue occurs. Doing some research online, seems like lots of other Hyundai palisade and kia telluride owners are experiencing this issue and Hyundai/kia are not doing anything to remedy this issue. Car only has 1400 miles on it and is brand new. The engine for the car wont start when utilizing the push button within the car or app. The engine will only start by using the key fob. Initially we thought it was the battery, but after being able to turn the car on from the key fob, it was confirmed it was not the battery. Additionally, the car will randomly shut off when it is on. You can be driving the car and it will just shut off. The dealer service group upon initial drop off said they had never seen this before, but then they said it might relate to the push button and push transmission gears on the car, as they had seen this before on some of the newer hyundai models, just never the Palisade. They made it sound like the technology that is behind the push transmission and push button start is the same, and that is where the problem lies.

I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my 2023 Hyundai Palisade that is currently unresolved and directly impacts the safety of my children and passengers. My vehicle is subject to an open safety recall (Recall 292 – ejection mitigation) for which there is currently no available remedy. In addition to this unresolved recall, I am experiencing an active failure of the seatbelt system. The seatbelts do not consistently latch and/or will not remain securely latched, creating an immediate risk to occupants. Replacement seatbelt components were ordered in January, and I have been informed they are on backorder with no estimated timeline for repair. As of today, the issue remains unresolved. This situation presents a severe safety concern. The vehicle has compromised occupant protection systems, including both restraint failure (seatbelts) and an open recall involving ejection mitigation. I regularly transport children in this vehicle and cannot rely on the safety systems to function properly. I have contacted Hyundai Motor America and opened a case to resolve this issue. However, Hyundai has not provided a repair, has not provided a safe alternative vehicle, and has not offered a viable solution. I was offered rental reimbursement, but I am unable to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle upfront, and the reimbursement limit does not cover a comparable vehicle suitable for transporting my family. As a result, I am being left with no reasonable or safe option: either continue operating a vehicle with known safety defects or assume financial burden that I cannot afford in order to obtain temporary transportation. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, including: * The delay in remedy for Recall 292 * The failure and parts shortage related to seatbelt systems * The lack of manufacturer support for consumers facing active safety risks This vehicle is not safe for normal use under current conditions.

1 complaint
This complaint concerns a 2023 Hyundai Palisade subject to two active safety recalls that remain unresolved, creating an ongoing safety risk. The first involves noncompliance with FMVSS 226 (Ejection Mitigation), identified in a January 2026 recall. The manufacturer has acknowledged the vehicle may not meet federal occupant protection requirements but has provided no remedy and no timeline for repair. The second involves defective seat belt buckle assemblies that may fail to properly latch. An authorized dealer confirmed the condition and advised that parts have been ordered; however, no estimated arrival date or repair timeline has been provided. As a result, the repair cannot presently be completed. The vehicle is used to transport young children in rear-facing car seats that rely on properly functioning seat belts for secure installation. The inability to ensure proper seat belt function, combined with the lack of compliance with FMVSS 226, presents an ongoing safety risk. Despite multiple written inquiries, the dealer has not provided any written confirmation regarding repair timing, instead offering only verbal and unverifiable updates. The manufacturer has been placed on written notice but has not provided any substantive response or identified an available remedy. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized dealer, who confirmed the recalls and the current inability to complete repairs. These conditions have persisted for months without an available repair path, leaving the vehicle in continuous use despite known safety defects and federal noncompliance. The inability to obtain a verifiable repair timeline or confirm parts availability demonstrates that the defects cannot be remedied within a reasonable time. Supporting documentation is attached. The lack of available remedy, combined with the inability to complete or verify recall repairs for safety-critical restraint systems, leaves occupants exposed to preventable injury risks in crash scenarios.

The steering wheel clunks and locks when turning at low speeds or when ISG turns the car back on. At times, it is a hard enough jerk to pull it out of my hands. It was taken to the dealership multiple times. The coupler was replaced, but it still jerked the steering wheel. The dealership in Utah could not replicate the sound, even though it occurs multiple times a day at this point. Along with the two recalls of which I have not been contacted by Hyundai or provided any form of remedy, this is highly concerning and makes me feel extremely unsafe driving my vehicle, especially with the fact that I have small children and teenagers. My car had an issue from inception that I’ve let the dealer know about that. They still have not fixed including the fact that well I’ll be driving on certain roads are on the highway. It’ll come up with a warning telling me that I’m going the wrong way and try to engage the automatic breaking system. In addition, the second row seatbelt has been stuck and it won’t go back in. The third row seats often times try to disengage and come down. Anytime I hit a small bump or go over a speed bump even very slow. My Bluetooth goes off-line as well as the Navigation and then it comes back online within 3 to 5 minutes. Carr seems to have had a number of odd issues, including the way the engine has sounded as well as the electrical system is not engaging properly. I feel highly unsafe continuing to drive this vehicle and until all recalls and full proper analysis is conducted to remedy these issues I would want Either a full refund of the cash value that I purchased my vehicle for, a brand new vehicle at no additional charge, or a loaner vehicle until all of these issues are remedied, and then a full analysis to ensure that it meets the standards. My preference would be to get a full refund of the cash value in which I purchased my vehicle for so I can get something else that is more safe for my family.

In compliance with the safety recall issued for my vehicle regarding the defective seat belts, I brought my vehicle in to Vision Hyundai, Canandaigua, NY for the recall work to be completed. Upon the service department's investigation of the seat belt components, they discovered further issues with it, beyond what was initially identified under the recall. Service department advises that it will take minimum of 1 month to obtain parts and make repairs. Service department issued a compact SUV which is not capable of safely installing my child car seat, or carrying the number of passengers which my affected vehicle does, putting a strain on our family's routine needs. Additionally, the affected vehicle was brought into the shop to address a powertrain issue where the vehicle loses all power and will not accelerate over 20mph, posing a serious safety concern. Hyundai has not provided any update on this or how it will be handled.

The steering wheel locks briefly when the Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system restarts the vehicle. This happens intermittently, about 50% of the time. It has affected the ability to steer the vehicle properly when turning at a traffic light after the ISG system has initiated an engine shutdown and subsequent restart. This issue has been reported to our local dealership, but the technicians were not able to reproduce the issue. We have also experienced a complete loss of electrical power in the vehicle with the ISG system a few times. We were almost in a major accident with 6 passengers in our 2023 Hyundai Palisade. On Wednesday, Oct 1, 2025 we were driving our Palisade to McDonalds off Highway 98 (Navarre Parkway). Please see pics. When we left McDonalds we went on a side road to enter Highway 98. Now on this side road (see pictures) there is some type of metal grate in between the road...well when we went over the grate approaching the stop sign the Palisade went into an immediate violent shudder and there was no control of the vehicle as it felt it was shut down even though I could tell it was on by the interior lights on the gauges. I had absolutely no control of the vehicle. Yes, I was the one driving. I could not brake and the Palisade continue to roll past the stop sign onto Highway 98 with on coming traffic. I couldn't even steer the car because its as though the car had no power. It was totally dead. With my foot pressed hard on the brakes that still did not work I tried to start the car and then it came on. My wife has told me that she experienced this issue at least six times passing this same road and others similar to it. This was the first time I experienced it and we were lucky we were not hit by oncoming traffic. Again, no brakes, no steering control. We were traveling at a slow speed as we were approaching the stop sign on that road with the metal grate, maybe 5 mph or less, but as soon as we went over the grates...all control of the Palisade was lost. Please advise us what to do...as I said we almost had a major accident with 6 passengers because the Palisade did not function as it was designed to do.

My vehicle has an issue with the anti lock braking system on uneven surfaces. On several occasions since buying the vehicle earlier this year, I've observed the issue of chattering or severe on-off reaction of the ABS to gradual braking onnuneven surfaces. I have not noticed warning lights during or after the malfunction, likely because I'm focused on safely bringing the vehicle to a stop during the malfunction. She was lucky to pull off the road or it would have been serious. We got it into the dealer and they called a few days later to say it was fixed. Unfortunately, it was not. It happened again on June 20th this year. We had it towed back to the dealer. It has been there since (today is August 5th). They claim they cannot locate the issue and have been working with Hyundai Motor to troubleshoot. I filed a complaint with Hyundai (and really no assistance offered). Last week, they told us it was repaired and to come get it. My wife barely made it out of the lot before it did the same and came to a sudden stop. Not sure if this is happening to other Hyundai vehicles but this is certainly a dangerous situation... and the fact that they cannot determine the cause or how to fix, we are very concerned.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
I recently purchased a Hyundai vehicle and discovered that the previous owner still has full access to the vehicle’s Bluelink system. This includes remote start/stop, vehicle tracking, horn/lights, and other controls. Despite contacting Hyundai support and proving ownership, they still have not revoked or disabled this access. I am unable to override or reset the system myself. This poses a serious safety concern, because an unauthorized individual can: •Remotely disable the vehicle while in motion or parked, •Track my exact real-time location, or •Manipulate vehicle functions without my knowledge or consent. This is not a one-off issue. Hyundai has no effective system in place to guarantee owner control or revoke prior access, which leaves other buyers vulnerable too. This constitutes a design flaw in connected vehicle control systems, not just an isolated customer service problem.

Driving with adaptive cruise control engaged in 45mph zone. Without intervention the cruise setting jumped to 90mph. I was able to press the pause bar to cancel it. Next I was able to re engage cruise normally without a repeat issue. There's been no outside inspection, or assessment. So far it's happened only once. The runaway speed was controllable. We're driving with extra care.

1 complaint
I was driving about 40mph on a sunny, dry day, and approached a red light. I depressed the brake, and rather than stopping, the brake vibrated and the car continued to coast an additional 2 car lengths. On a second occasion, about 2 months later, I was driving about 25mph on a sunny, dry day, and I came to an intersection. I applied the brake, and again, rather than stopping, the brake vibrated and the car coasted into the intersection. There was a car coming, so I had to honk the horn repeatedly to alert the other driver that my car was not stopping. I took the car to the dealership. They have been unable to reproduce the problem, so they insist that nothing has happened and they want me to take the car back.

When applying the brakes at slower speeds the over-sensitive ABS violently activates causing temporary brake loss and shaking of the vehicle. This has been addressed at Hyundai dealership and symptoms were confirmed from the service advisor. I was told that this isn’t normal operation per Hyundai. Regarding another issue. The transmission will shutter combined with 3-5 second delay when up-shifting during acceleration. I was told by Hyundai dealership that is also “normal”. If this is “normal” then why has this concern just started developing. If this is normal, why hasn’t this transmission done it from day one when we purchased the car. We are not happy Hyundai’s attempt to sell us on this falsehood! These are definitely safety concerns and should be addressed.

1 complaint
While driving at slow speed I took my foot off the gas and applied pressure to the brake pedal. The brakes did not work properly; the brakes engaged and disengaged multiple times and the car continued to lurch forward almost resulting in a collision. This is a critical failure of the braking system and is extremely unsafe. In this scenario, I could have hit the car in front of me. Had I been approaching an intersection, I could have been in a severe collision. I brought the car to the dealership and they could not replicate the issue. They inspected the vehicle and did not provide any information on what could have caused the issue. No component was identified as the cause of the problem. No warning lamps were on prior to or after the incident. During the incident, I was not looking at my dashboard; I was trying to not hit the vehicle in front of me. The car has under 20,000 miles and has been driven for just over a year.

While driving to our vacation destination, we head a very loud pop from the roof area. We found a place to pull over and realized that there was a huge hole in our sunroof glass. Nothing hit the car while driving, it just spontaneously exploded upward and shattered the area around it. There was broken glass all over the sunroof area. Nothing had come into contact with it. It just exploded upward and shattered.

I was slowing down approaching an intersection with cars already at a full stop up ahead. I was braking to slow down in preparation to stop. As I got closer, I drove over railroad tracks and felt the brake pedal begin to vibrate like the automatic emergency braking system kicked in. With my foot still on the brake, the car continued forward without any additional decrease in speed. I pushed my foot down as hard as I could and the car stopped inches from the car in front of me. I’m not sure if me pressing on the brake more even did anything or if some other collision avoidance system in the car stopped it before colliding with the car in front of me. There was beeping and the display switched to show cameras in front of the car, which happens when getting close to something while parking, etc. Luckily I was slowing and not at a high rate of speed. If I had hit the car ahead of me, there would have been damage but not major. What if I was going faster when this occurred? Or if I was braking for a person or bike? Or if it was collision avoidance that actually stopped the car here but I was the first car stopping in the intersection and couldn’t stop.

Major safety concern with vehicle stalling, having no power, not moving mainly in Snow Mode. The first month of purchase the car stalled, had no power, would not move in Comfort Mode. My Husband was driving and I thought it was a weird fluke or something. Then it happened driving up the hill to our house several times over the past year. That was annoying enough and THEN it snowed last week, roads were snow packed and icy. I was headed to work, had car in snow mode, attempted to pull out into traffic (thankfully with a whole lot of room between me and oncoming traffic!) and the car would NOT move. It literally stalled/lagged and would not go. I was almost read ended on a highway!!! This is not ok! I took the Palisade into the Dealership to look at/test and they "could not get it to replicate the issue". I also submitted a complaint to Hyundai Corporate, and after speaking with a Case Manager several times over the phone and via email - including sending them recorded video documentation of the issues, Hyundai determined that they would do nothing about this and would not even purchase the vehicle back. They could care less that a vehicle they produced is causing major safety issues for the public. I am beyond irate! We way overpaid for this car ("high demand" at the time of purchase) - $15,000 down, and because Hyundai does not care about their product, we just traded the vehicle in to get rid of it and had to pay an additional $7,000 out of pocket. There are literally NO WORDS!!! My families safety is worth more than the money we lost out on with that awful vehicle.

I bought a 2023 hyundai palisade calligraphy and I found out the seat controls do not work and the air condition doesn’t work but they were fixed but the most important thing is the BLUE LINK BUTTON WHERE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS inside the car that I need in case of an emergency doesn’t work at all and doesn’t connect to hyundai blue link . I called hyundai manufacturer and I called hyundai blue link several times and their stupid engineers couldn’t fix the problem and I went to the dealership and their service dept and they couldn’t fix the issue . This is a brand new car that the blue link inside it doesn’t work at all and I paid for 3 years service .i push the blue link butto then it connects then it ends with no ring tone and no one on the other side . It keeps disconnecting and fails to connect me to blue link . This is a major defect in the hyundai palisade calligraphy and needs to be addressed seriously and professionally by hyundai and get it fixed immediately. I am attaching photos and videos and on my car screen it shown that blue link ended on 12/31/2023 but that is wrong because I have blue link until 1/26/2026 three more years but my car screen has it as expired on 12/31/2023 and that is wrong

On three separate occasions while driving the car has shut off while driving. The car and dashboard completely shut off, as well as the radio. This is while driving! The car was in drive and then just shut off with no warning or indication. I've taken the car to be seen by a Hyundai Mechanic and the car had a starter replacement. Yet, the issue has continued. This has put my safety and the safety of others at risk as the car cuts off mid-traffic. I am no longer able to brake or accelerate. The check-ESC message comes up when attempting to restart, but there is no warning or indication that comes on before the vehicle completely shuts down. I feel extremely unsafe. The dealership says it is hard to see codes because this happens mid-drive. Multiple Hyundai Owners, specifically 2023 Palisade Model owners have posted and reported this issue to corporate.

I was waiting at a stop light when the light turned green. I accelerated and the truck sputtered and cut off. The truck started to sound off with alarms and give a warning on the dash for me to put it in S or N. When doing such and attempting to restart the vechicle it continued to cut off and sound off with alerts. This happened a out 9 times in a row. I was sitting on a busy 6 lane roadway where vechicles go well above the speed limit. I have 4 children under the age of 7 including a 6mo old who were very scared. This is DANGEROUS and I am reading on Hyundai owners forums that this issue is not uncommon at all and Hyundai is well aware of the issue. We could have easily been seriously hurt or killed! I just purchased the vechicle and have only 2,3xx miles on it. It's a 2023 Hyundai Palasade Calligraphy AWD white exterior. I've also noticed that the safety sensors seem to do more hard than good. I've had it happen about 5 times now that a car was approaching behind my vechicle and my vechicle would violently come to a abrupt stop, jerk the entire vechicle (scaring everyone in the truck) and it will freeze up not letting me drive. This does a lot more harm than good and again is dangerous. There were times that I needed to drive to get away from the situation and my truck froze up because it thought a vechicle was to close.

I was just turning right from a stoplight into a store parking lot when I lost power steering & my brakes were ‘difficult’ to push down. I barely got it out of the way of traffic and I turned the car off, got out, opened and closed my door, and got back in and it started back up and drove to the parking spot like nothing had happened. Sensors reset to 0. It happened again 2 stops away while in a drive through. I did the same thing and it started back up ok. It would do this every 2-3 days for 2 weeks. Finally it did it one day, 5-6 times. The day I called the dealership & said that I was afraid my 2023 Palisade was going to literally get me killed on the highway was when the manager was able to get me a loaner vehicle to drive. It’s been in the dealership for over a week. I saw the recall about the loss of power brake assist online and thought this may pertain to my Palisade.

My sensors have been having issues since the day I bought my car march 5 2023. It would be intermittent, and became constant. The error reads, "check parking distance warning system" as well as "ultrasonic sensor error or blockage" and my sensors are clean. Nothing blocking them whatsoever. It's constant. I went to my dealership for them to say someone may have hit my car while I was I. The grocery store. Shouldn't there be some serious damage? I don't lcoe the lying. And I don't love how they tried to get me to pay because me sensors wouldn't even calibrate. They said anything could knock them out of wack because hyundai sensors are super sensitive. Well then they need tk be less sensitive. My car is garage kept, barley leaves the house currently has only 2000 miles after having the car for 2 months now.

The engine shut off suddenly while driving 3x times in 17 days of ownership, brand new car. It happened leaving the highway (decreasing speed around 40-55mph) and the brake doesn't work properly when it happens (makes it hard to break and then suddenly brake at once). I was happy no one was in front of me for 3x and I could stop safely without hurting anyone. No warning or indicator light showed before problem happen, and even after. The car is currently at dealer for inspection, have a video of the dash when it happens (lights flashing and emergency beeping), dealer didn't took this serious, opened a safety complain at Hyundai case #20305592 Attached photo of dashboard with the message and lights after last stop This is a SERIOUS problem that could lead to a fatality soon or later, hope is only with me that this is happening.
