SERVICE BRAKES

When exiting a parking lot going about 6 miles an hour I approached a stop sign. When I attempted to stop my vehicle the antilock brakes engaged and vehicle would not stop. I pressed harder on the brake but it did nothing. The vehicle finally did stop but I was half a car length into the street. I was terrified. Fortunately there was no oncoming vehicle. This terrifies me because I frequently have my grandchildren it the car, the reason we bought a large vehicle.

When I was pulling out of my driveway heading out of the neighborhood. Approaching the stop sign I applied my SUV brakes and it fail. I had to push the neutral button to take it out of gear. My current speed was approximately 25 to 30 mph. I was heading towards a ditch and almost crashed into the ditch. Took the car to the dealership. The dealership inspected and the intake vacuum line that controls the brakes fail part was defective. Dealership had to order the part. It took them 20 days to get my SUV repaired and back to me. Part was covered under warranty.
Feb 20, 2026
Antilock braking system is malfunctioning. Significant increase in stopping distance, and especially on uneven or wet surfaces. The car shutters and shakes while stopping. We have almost hit a deer, had trouble stopping at intersections, and did not stop in a timely manner while behind another vehicle. General fear knowing if brakes are firmly pressed that the car is unable to stop quickly (as expected with other vehicles).

I had brought my car in because it feels like the antilock brakes kick in on uneven surfaces. I was told there is no issue. This happens again 2 days ago. I have had it happen where I almost hit the person in front of me, the car will not stop. Dry roads. It’s on bumpy roads, more often is a slight downhill. No lights on dash for antilock brakes coming on.
Nov 14, 2025
When driving at a low speed and over an uneven driving surface attempting to brake, the abs system unnecessarily engages and causes the car to lock up and skid instead of braking. This almost caused a car accident where my car would not stop like normal and almost skid into a stationary vehicle with an increased stopping distance until it stopped with a jolt. There is a class action lawsuit on this issue in Ohio and New York.

I am submitting this formal complaint regarding an active safety recall affecting the seat belt system of my 2025 Hyundai Palisade XRT. Hyundai has acknowledged the existence of the defect. However, I was informed by a Hyundai customer service representative [XXX] ), under case number XXX, that there is currently no available remedy or repair for this recall. This situation is deeply concerning, as it involves a critical safety component intended to protect occupants in the event of a collision. Due to the nature of this defect, I do not feel safe operating the vehicle under any circumstances. Despite the acknowledged safety risk, Hyundai has not provided any adequate interim solution, such as a replacement vehicle or transportation assistance, leaving me effectively unable to safely use the vehicle. This places me in an unreasonable and unsafe position, as I am left with a vehicle that poses a potential risk to my safety without any available corrective action. I respectfully request that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this matter and take appropriate action to ensure that Hyundai provides a timely and effective remedy, as well as appropriate support to affected consumers. The current no. 226 EJECTION MITIGATION RECALL has me scared to drive the vehicle for it's intended use as a Family car transporting 7 people which are all children. The fix from the manufacturer/dealership is taking to long. We are lucky we have not been in an accident. I believed my Family was safe in this vehicle but now know we are not. What a waste of money I have borrowed for this car. Paying on something that is not safe and how I risked my grandbabys possibly being ejected from my vehicle if there was to be an accident.

Recall issued on September of 2025 citing second row seat belt malfunctions. Attempted to have repaired twice now but Hyundai repair shop states the part is on national back order and therefore unable to have recall remedied.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing regarding multiple recalls affecting my 2025 Hyundai Palisade, specifically related to the electrical harness and ongoing safety concerns. Since purchasing the vehicle from a Hyundai dealership in [XXX] , I have experienced repeated issues. Initially, dashboard lights activated randomly while driving, followed by connectivity problems and a malfunctioning trunk. In February, the vehicle required full disassembly to replace the electrical harness, which disrupted a planned family trip. I was provided a Hyundai Elantra loaner, which was not suitable for my family of five, causing a two-week inconvenience. Additionally, the dealership failed to complete a scheduled oil change, requiring me to return. Shortly after, I received another recall notice involving third-row safety concerns during a rollover. Given that a fatality has already been associated with this issue, I am extremely concerned about the safety of this vehicle, especially as I transport my three young children daily. The vehicle’s multiple recalls, safety risks, and extensive repairs have significantly reduced its value and reliability. I am also currently waiting on an airbag cap, but was informed on March 27, 2026, that the part received was incorrect, causing further delays. This has been my first Hyundai purchase, and it has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. The vehicle no longer feels new and appears to be unreliable due to ongoing defects. As of March 28, 2026, I am requesting the option to trade in the vehicle at the original purchase price or receive appropriate compensation. The vehicle has under 10,000 miles, and I am still making payments on a vehicle that does not meet multiple Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, including #226 Ejection Mitigation. I would like to resolve this matter as soon as possible and transition into a safe, reliable vehicle. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Please remove the alert “Consider a break”. This alert is very annoying and distracting. My opinion it does nothing for the safety of the vehicle. At the time I purchased the vehicle I was not advised about the alert. Had I known prior to purchase, I would have passed on the purchase. Please do something to remove or delete the aforementioned alert.

My 2025 Hyundai Palisade has multiple open safety recalls that have not been repaired and make the vehicle unsafe to operate. The dealership confirmed safety recalls effect my vehicle and my car is currently at the dealership since April 3rd. The first recall 283, involves the seat belts in the 1st and 2nd rows. Parts were ordered on January 20, 2026, but the repair has still not been completed after several months. The second issue is Recall 292 involving the ejection mitigation system and defective 3rd row airbags. This defect can allow rear passengers to be ejected from the vehicle during a crash. I have been informed that there is currently no remedy available for this recall. Hyundai has failed to provide a repair within a reasonable time, and one of the defects has no available fix. I do not feel safe transporting my family in this vehicle due to these unresolved serious safety issues. Hyundai provided me a 2024 Sante Fe loaner vehicle in which is currently under safety recall for seatbelts and has no other loaners available for me. Hyundai USA, case manager [XXX] , case #XXX has denied buy back without explanation. My vehicle is currently not drivable, unsafe, and no remedy available. I want a buy back to be able to purchase a new, safe vehicle for my family. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This complaint is a follow-up update to my previously filed complaint, NHTSA Complaint No. 11726321, filed on March 23, 2026, regarding two open safety recalls on my 2025 Hyundai Palisade SEL Premium, VIN [XXX] . I am filing this updated complaint to report that a SECOND failed repair attempt has now occurred on the seat belt recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V607 / Hyundai Recall No. 283). UPDATED STATUS OF SEAT BELT RECALL (25V607): First repair attempt: January 19, 2026 at Liberty Hyundai, Mahwah NJ (Invoice No. [XXX). Technician confirmed open recall. No correction made. Parts specially ordered (RC283-S8500-QQH Seat Belt Buckle Kit). Parts were not available. Second repair attempt: April 2026 at my servicing Hyundai dealer. Technician again confirmed open recall. Seat belt buckle parts remain on order and are still not available. No correction made. Two documented failed repair attempts now on record. UPDATED STATUS OF AIRBAG RECALL (26V034): As of the date of this complaint, Hyundai has still not developed a remedy for the third row airbag FMVSS 226 violation. No repair has been attempted or completed because no fix exists. This recall remains completely unresolved. SUMMARY: I purchased this vehicle on [XXX] from Maxon Hyundai, Union NJ. This is my primary and only family vehicle. I have children who regularly use the third row. After two separate dealer visits spanning more than three months, neither safety recall has been repaired. Hyundai has been unable to provide parts for the seat belt recall and has no remedy developed for the airbag recall. I am formally requesting that NHTSA: 1. Note this updated repair history in connection with Complaint No. 11726321 2. Escalate pressure on Hyundai Motor America to expedite parts availability for Recall 25V607 3. Continue monitoring Hyundai's progress on developing a remedy for Recall 26V034 (FMVSS 226 violation) 4. Consider whether Hyundai's ongoing failure to remedy these safety defects warrants INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am less than 8 months into a brand new vehicle that has had and has major safety recalls with no remedy in sight. I bought this car for safety and driving it while seatbelts and ejection mitigation have all failed NHTSA standards is horrifying for me and my family.

UNKNOWN I am making complaint of the 3rd row airbags not passing federal inspection. I have not been in accident, but at this point I am very scared to drive my vehicle. I am trying to work with Hyundai Motor Company Corporate to find another solution, since there is no remedy available and they do not know when it will be available. I was told to not put anyone in the back seat, but I purchased the vehicle for 3 rows because I need 3 rows for my family. I feel that myself, and others, were mislead when purchasing or leasing any 2020-2025 Hyundai Palisade. If we would of have known, we would of never purchased the vehicle.

My car has had numerous issue. The first issue was with the front end collision warning system. I had a sensor warning come on twice saying it may not be in use, but then it falsely predicted a collision resulting in the car slamming on the brakes when nothing was there. I almost go rear-ended as a result. The dealer found that the radar system was completely broken and the sensor was facing to the side instead of the front. I bought the car brand new and there was no evidence of damage and it has never been explained how it got damaged. They replaced the system and that was resolved, but the sensors continue acting strange. It's now turning on the camera and telling me to check my surroundings when I'm stopped at a red light. There is nothing happening around me. The problem that is ongoing and has yet to be resolved is my brakes. It's an intermittent issue, but when I go over rough surfaces and hit the brakes I get a crunching/grinding noise that sounds like it's grinding rocks. This happens intermittently. The dealer was eventually able to replicate it and is saying it's the ABS system and that it's normal, but cannot do anything to repair it. However, it is not normal for ABS to come on going over a bump and it shouldn't sound like that. When this happens, the brakes don't seem to respond properly and as quickly as it should. I have not gotten any warning lights for the brake issue. It does put the parking brake on at times for no reason when I'm on a completely flat surface. The car was out of service for 21 days in a month and a half of owning it. I have a car that I don't feel safe in and I don't trust what it's going to do. It's problem after problem and corporate Hyundai doesn't want to do anything about it.

Anytime driving on a bumpy road the brakes do not work correctly. When driving on a bumpy road I can feel the abs take over and I lose control over braking. Eventually I have to slam on the brakes or the computer does. Feels extremely unsafe since there are lots of brick roads around me. This has happened since I purchased the vehicle. I just researched this issue and it seems to be known a issue.

A Class action lawsuit has been filed for this Issue which Hyundai refuses to acknowledge our 2025 Palisade is having this issue on a regular basis. When it occurs the car becomes very difficult to stop we feel as do the lawyers in the class action in New York California and Ohio that this is a serious safety situation. We have had the car to the dealer and as previous owners have stated it is not acknowledged.

In multiple instances, the ABS is engaging on uneven surfaces when it should not. It occurs when pulling into my driveway and just happened this morning in the car drop off line. I was going no more than 5mph when the car in front of me stopped. I hit the brakes and the ABS engaged (along with the crash alarm) causing a skid. No accident occurred, but it was unsettling.

I purchased the 2025 CPO Palisade Calligraphy in April 9, 2025. Two weeks after I purchased it, I started noticing abnormal scratches and chips in the windshield. I had not driven behind a vehicle that threw rocks, I was not a beach for sand to scratch, nor had my vehicle been exposed to a creature that could have scratched the windshield. I reached out to my sales person and he said he'd connect back with me. That never happened. A couple months later, after getting my car detailed, I noticed many more scratches and dozens of chips. I reached back out to the dealer and my salesperson had left. I connected with a manager, as the chipping and scratching was causing a safety issue as I was focusing on it while driving and the way the sun would hit it caused awful glares. After speaking with a manager and then general sales manager, they agreed to replace the windshield. It was not until after this situation and my moonroof randomly exploding that I realized there were a number of windshield complaints on Hyundai's, specifically Palisades. While most reports are from 2020, I wanted to report to NTHSB that the issue is still happening.
Dec 17, 2025
My windshield appears to be extremely prone to rock chips and cracks. My vehicle is available for inspection. My Hyundai is only a year old and has several rock chips and a large crack in the windshield. This is now beginning to affect the visibility through my windshield. The problem has not been reported to the dealer but it will be on my next service appointment. Im pretty confident that the dealer will tell me to contact my insurance. The problem has not been reported to anyone at this time. My other vehicles do not have this problem and they are a lot older than my Hyundai.
Nov 20, 2025
We have had two chips in the windshield in approximately 7 months of ownership, which have resulted in spiderweb type cracks in the windshield. One of the cracks is in the field of view for the driver which creates an impairment/distraction. I believe that the windshield may be defective based on the numerous reports of this issue that I have researched on the internet.

I was driving down the highway and suddenly heard a crack. One on the windshield and one on the passenger window.

Hello, I would like to report the rental company that rented us the car with 2 open recalls. The name of the company is NU car rental locating at 2900 SE 6th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. It rented us a Hyundai Palisade with the plate number [XXX] from April 5 to April 10th, 2026. They knew that we needed a car for 6 people and that the 3rd row was going to be used. And the 2nd recall relates to the use of 3 row seats. Please see the rental agreement as a proof. I know the same company in Orlando was under federal investigation for the same issue. To my knowledge, rental companies are prohibited from renting cars with open recalls by the federal law. Please investigate this company. The seat reclining system. When I clicked to fold the seats, it doesn’t detect if someone is sitting there so it folds in on the person and they get stuck on the person. The seat keeps trying to fold even if a child is in the seat or not. So it folds over and closes in on the child.

The powered operation of the third row in the 2025 Hyundai Palisade fails to stop if anything or anyone is sitting or placed on the third row seat. There has been a report of a [XXX] death with respect to this operation already in Ohio and other injuries across the nation. Hyundai has already placed a stop sell on this vehicle but there are many other vehicles on the road at the moment that can cause additional deaths. There is no requirement to stop driving this vehicle by the NHTSA and it is giving Hyundai 18 months to find and test a remedy. We personally tested the operation with someone in the third row seat and the seat failed to stop closing when the rear compartment button was pressed. As an adult I felt that I would have been crushed if my partner did not reverse the operation. A child in that seat would have been killed. That button can easily be pressed by anything stored in the rear compartment while the vehicle is being driven. We leased our vehicle to carry grandchildren but now cannot use it due to the safety risks. Continuing to drive these vehicle is a serious risk of death and injury and the NHTSA should be protecting the consumers who still have these vehicles on the road. UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES

I have an ongoing safety concern on my vehicle, seemingly having to do with the brakes or ABS malfunction. There is a delay in the breaking of the vehicle occasionally in specific circumstances. Typically in a parking lot or stop sign, if there is a buckling of the road or potholes or uneven surfaces between the tires, the vehicle will skid over the surfaces and braking is delayed. Events have occurred 8 documented times and a few more during my ownership of the vehicle. Because this typically happens at a stop sign and the car has driven through the stop sign the issue could absolutely cause a multi exhale accident. Because this issue is surface specific, it is difficult to reproduce and the dealership is unable to find the root cause and fix the vehicle. During the two service visits, the dealer has tried to find the issue by doing a diagnostic scan and did a road test on each of the visits as well. In the four months that I’ve owned this vehicle and 10,000 miles that I have driven. This is happened less than a dozen times – most of the incidents are personally documented. No visible warning lights engage when the events have happened. I have contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and am working with them on a resolution of which neither party is sure of at this point. My location of work has metal grates (to close a metal gate) at the entrance and exit. I’ve experienced many many times at the exit as I am breaking the breaks slipping. I’ve noticed it other times as I break while driving over uneven surfaces. I finally started digging because that’s not normal and it was brand new. It appears others have had the same issue. It doesn’t look like a recall has been issued, but definitely needs to be.

Brand new car came with warped rotors and rattling noise unresolved. Major safety issue due to brake failure. A few times braking due to red light, upon braking the car would stutter stop and at times not start stopping until brake pedal fully stepped on, had a few near accidents. At a McDonalds and Wendy’s drive through, foot on brakes but car would still move forward even though was at a complete stop(car moved forward from a complete stop even though foot is still stepping on brake pedal). Have heard rattling on right side of car when braking, unknown cause, mentioned it but dealership completely ignored it due to cannot replicate(happens once in a while), was not documented on invoice, planning to bring into dealership and demanding a full panel diagnostic. Major safety concern because I have children and what if brakes fail at a busy intersection.

Component/System Failed: The rear suspension strut assembly on the passenger side fully dislodged while driving at approximately 30 mph. The vehicle and damaged component are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The sudden failure caused the rear of the vehicle to drop and become unstable, creating a loss of control risk to myself and nearby drivers. Reproduction/Confirmation: The issue has not been reproduced but was confirmed by the Hyundai dealership upon inspection. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer’s service department and corporate case team. Warning Signs: No warning lights, error messages, or abnormal noises were present prior to the failure. The dealership classified the failure as impact damage, claiming an external force caused the rear strut to detach, which excludes it from warranty coverage. However, my insurance inspection found no evidence of significant impact or collision, noting only minimal scuffing and no structural deformation. This indicates the issue was more consistent with a mechanical or structural defect rather than road damage.

My 2025 Hyundai Palisade is currently subject to multiple safety recalls affecting occupant safety. These include a recall involving seat belt buckle assemblies in the front and second row seating positions, as well as a separate recall involving the third-row seating area where the vehicle may not meet federal safety standards for occupant protection and may increase the risk of injury during a rollover crash. At this time, there is no available remedy for the third-row safety recall. Although no crash or injury has occurred, I regularly transport my children in this vehicle and am concerned about operating a vehicle that has been identified as having an increased risk of injury in a rollover crash without any available fix. The vehicle is available for inspection, and I have scheduled a dealership appointment to address the recalls that currently have available remedies. However, the primary safety concern remains unresolved due to the lack of a repair for the third-row issue. This situation raises concerns about occupant safety and the ability to safely transport passengers.

I am reporting Hyundai Motor America’s failure to remedy two active safety recalls on my 2025 Hyundai Palisade (VIN: [XXX] ) within a reasonable timeframe, despite multiple attempts to have the vehicle repaired. My vehicle has two open safety recalls involving critical occupant protection systems, including seat belt buckle assemblies that may fail to latch properly and a third-row occupant safety defect that increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash or rollover. On October 23, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership specifically to have the recall defects repaired. At the time of drop-off, I clearly informed the dealership that the purpose of the visit was for recall repairs. However, the dealership labeled the visit as a “maintenance appointment” instead of properly documenting it as a recall repair visit. The recall defects were not repaired. I returned to the Hyundai dealership again on February 18, 2026, after being promised that the recall repairs would be completed. Once again, Hyundai failed to repair the safety defects, and the recalls remain unresolved. It is now February 20, 2026, more than four months since I first presented the vehicle for recall repair, and Hyundai has failed to remedy these critical safety defects or provide a clear timeline for repair. These defects involve essential safety systems, including seat belts and third-row occupant protection. I have four children who regularly occupy the rear seating areas, and I am deeply concerned about their safety. Hyundai’s failure to repair these safety recalls has placed my family at risk. Because Hyundai has failed to repair the vehicle within a reasonable timeframe, I am requesting NHTSA investigation and assistance. I am also requesting that Hyundai provide trade assistance, replacement, or buyback so that I can obtain a safe vehicle for my family, at no cost to me, due to Hyundai’s inability to remedy these safety defects. The second row captains chairs are able to be buckled when any booster or car seats are in the seat. The seat belt buckle is too far flush into the seat, so when any car seat/booster seat is in the seat, the buckle is inaccessible and blocked and the seat belt is not able to be used. Today, March 27, 2026, I sent an email to Hyundai Customer Affairs that stated the following: "To whom it may concern, on January 21, 2025, I emailed Hyundai Customer Affairs about an issue that is of significant importance. To date, the only response I have received regarding this issue (Case # XXX) on February 2, 2025, acknowledging my email and assigning the reference case number. However, the issue with the cruise control's resume execution is unacceptable and [likely] dangerous. There is no reason for the cruise control to accelerate in such an aggressive manner. What is it going to require for this issue to resolve/address this?" While the car has traction control, there is no reason for such an aggressive manner for the cruise control to accelerate as you can see in my email it to Hyundai their lack of action is concerning. While driving at approximately 20 mph on rough asphalted road (city road under construction) I applied the brakes in a normal fashion only to be met with violent shaking of the car and an unresponsive brake pedal. After pumping the brakes several times I was able to bring the car to an abrupt halt, narrowly avoiding an accident, i.e., I was inches away from smashing the car in front of me. The violent shaking felt similar to when an ABS is engaged, though more pronounced. I have an appointment with the dealer next week but am documenting the event given the numerous reports I found online and the multiple reports of the dealers doing nothing to remedy the safety issue. The vehicle has not—as of yet—been expected by the dealer. No warning lamps or messages appeared during the incident. This happened once before under similar circumstances approximately two weeks ago but I wrote it off as a "one off."

Hyundai "Smart Cruise Control (SCC)" I had my SCC set at 54mph. I entered a broad curve, which was gentle enough that it was safe to maintain that speed. Ahead was a left-turn turnout lane for vehicles wanting to make a left turn off the highway. This turn lane is part of the broad curve, too. A vehicle was stopped ahead in this appropriate turn-off lane waiting for oncoming traffic to clear. As my vehicle entered the curve, the radar/camera at the front of my car detected this stopped vehicle a little ahead of me, and immediately began to brake my car into a panic stop. I was thrown forward a little in the seat, and the vehicle immediately behind me had to suddenly brake, too, in order to avoid read-ending me. These was no need for this of course. With conventional cruise control, I would have been able to navigate through the curve at the set speed, and all vehicles in the vicinity, including mine and the vehicle behind me, would have been safe. The Hyundai owner's manual points out that the SCC may well malfunction in curve situations (among many, many other situations). Smart Cruise Control is an accident waiting to happen. Please, please get this feature OFF of vehicles sold in the United States. Return control of the vehicle to the drive, not some camera. Thank you.

I was driving slowly, about 5 mph, and was pulling over on a residential street to park on the street, and my Hyundai started shaking…the steering wheel and car were shaking and the brakes weren’t working. I nearly rear ended a car full of people. It did eventually a stop and the whole thing lasted maybe 10 seconds but it was terrifying. I had it towed to the dealership and they can’t seem to duplicate it.

Braking on a low speeds when the road changes from smooth to slightly rough or bumpy the car acts as if ABS is kicking on. The stuttering brakes can be felt on the brake pedal and the steering shakes vigorously.

The vehicle shakes violently when applying the brakes over any bump or pothole at slow speeds. This also extends the stopping distance for the car. It has no warning lights. This is a brand new car with only 1200 miles. The problem was able to be confirmed by the dealer but no fix yet.

. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? ---------- Nothing failed but the lane assist feature forces the car to drive hugging the left lane and not on the center of the road. This can be very dangerous on a freeway when passing big wide trucks. If you use the cruise control this feature automatically turns itself on. . How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? ------ When the lane assist is turned on the car drives close to the left line and not on the center of the road and this could be very dangerous when passing large wide vehicles or those with wide trailers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? ------------ Yes. I took it to the dealer and they said that's how the car was designed and there is nothing they can do. They asked me to contact the Hyundai Customer Affairs. I opened a case number with Hyundai Customer Affairs. They said that if the dealer did not find a problem then there is nothing they can do. I am stuck with the problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? ------------------- See above. When I googled to see if other people are complaining about the issue, I found out that there are other people complaining but no formal complaint has been put forward. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? ------------ The issue has existed from the dealer. There are no warnings or anything

The Lane Guidance and Lane assist malfunctions / failures numerous times at highway speeds. The vehicle tried to forcibly steer me into the next lane for no reason. Typically a vehicle is approaching from the rear and the acting by the Palisade would have caused a serious accident. This has been documented numerous time since November 25, 2024. The steering places excessive force on the steering which is very traumatic on the highway driving at posted speeds. In the event my wife was driving the 2025 Palisade, she wouldn't have been able to keep the vehicle centered in the lane, due to the forces on the steering wheel. This has occurred numerous times over the past 8 months. No real help from Hyundai Corporate Cust Serv, since Dec 2024. Claim 40091189 While going down a 4 lane road, Babcock Road, Palm Bay FL, the at around 40 mph the vehicle immediately reduced my speed to 20 mph. This nearly caused a major accident. There was no reason for the drop in speed so abruptly. I had not touched any controls, cruise control was not on, there wasn't a school zone. Something caused the vehicle to reach that way immediately. By pushing on the gas pedal did nothing. It remained at around 20 mph till I was able to turn off into a parking lot and the engine turned off. There are numerous intermittent problems with this 2025 Palisade that need to be addressed be for the vehicle causes a major accident and lives lost. The vehicle has been back to dealerships 6 times and no real troubleshooting took place. This has caused numerous near death traumatic experiences. 2025 Palisade is very dangerous at highway speed with the additional Steering safety features turned on. The third-row seats in my 2025 Hyundai Palisade are closing fully even when there are clear obstructions in the seat path. I tested this multiple times — including with case of water — and the seats did not stop, reverse, or provide any safety resistance. They closed completely each time. I am aware this exact issue has already been identified and recalled in the 2026 Palisade, which raises major concerns about whether the same defect exists in the 2025 model. After repeating the test with several different objects and getting the same dangerous result, I am extremely alarmed. This is a critical safety hazard for anyone seated in the third row. There has already been at least one reported death related to this malfunction, and knowing what I know now, I do not feel safe allowing anyone to sit in that row until this is investigated and resolved. This issue requires immediate attention and action. The risk is serious, foreseeable, and potentially fatal. I am requesting that Hyundai address this as a priority before someone else is injured.

Brandon Hyundai sold me this vehicle with an active stop sale. On February 20, 2026, I purchased a 2025 Hyundai Palisade from the dealership. After taking delivery of the vehicle, I discovered that the VIN associated with the vehicle was subject to an active manufacturer stop-sale related to a safety recall for which no remedy was available at the time of delivery. This critical information was not disclosed to me during the sales process and was not reflected in any documentation provided at closing, including the buyer’s order or “We Owe” form. As a consumer, I relied on the dealership to comply with applicable safety requirements and to be transparent about the condition and status of the vehicle being sold. Upon discovering the stop-sale status, I returned to the dealership the very next day, on Saturday February 21, 2026, to address the issue. During that visit, I spoke with both the Sales Manager and the Finance Manager. At that time, I was told that there was nothing that could be done because I had already signed the contract and “the ink was dry.” The seriousness of the concern I raised was initially dismissed. As I am sure you know, the contract should be void when selling a vehicle in violation of the law. Both of these managers promised me that the vehicle had undergone a safety check prior to delivery, which is not true, as later discussed. It was not until the following Monday morning, February 23, 2026, after escalating the issue again and speaking with another manager, that the dealership agreed to reverse the transaction. On that second attempt, the deal was unwound and my trade-in vehicle and down payment were returned to me. While I acknowledge that the dealership ultimately corrected the situation, the fact remains that the vehicle should never have been delivered to a consumer while under an active stop-sale condition. The initial refusal to address the issue when it was first raised with management was deeply concerning.

After 45 days of purchasing the SUV I notice the front grille was checking and flaking. Report it to the dealership and Hyundai. They said it was caused by "out influence". So they didn't cover it. After several attempts back and forth with dealership they finally agreed to cover the replacement front grille. This is an on going issue with these grilles. The new grille is starting to do the same thing. Many Hyundai palisade customers on the forums are talking about this issue!

I have been cut very deeply at least 6 times on the driver's door, and my wife has been cut at least 3 times (she does not ride in it as often) on the passenger side door while closing. The edge (point) on both sides is rough and sharp. I have begun carrying first aid supplies as it takes 20 mins to stop the bleeding and I am getting scars. This has been reported to the dealership but the service manager states they will investigate. I have found numerous reports online of the same issue with 2025 Palisades. This also occurred with the 2020-2022 model and resulted in recalls of some trim packages.

The vehicle’s forward collision warning / rear cross-traffic warning system is falsely detecting obstacles while I am driving down a normal residential driveway. The driveway has a gentle slope overall, with a slightly sharper angle right at the point where it meets the street. As I begin to move down the driveway—both in Drive and Reverse—the vehicle emits warning beeps and then suddenly and aggressively applies the brakes on its own, even though the path is completely clear. The braking is abrupt and forceful, and the system appears to misinterpret the brief angle change at the curbline as an obstacle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the unexpected hard stop could cause a collision or loss of control. More importantly, if the system behaves this way on a simple residential driveway, it could be extremely hazardous on public roads that have larger hills, dips, or transitions. Sudden automatic braking on a main roadway or at higher speeds could lead to a serious crash. The problem has occurred repeatedly and consistently at the same driveway since I began driving the vehicle. It happens nearly every time. I took the vehicle to Speck Hyundai in Kennewick, WA, but the dealer was unable to reproduce the issue during their inspection. I have video evidence clearly showing the warning beeps and the vehicle braking on its own.

The vehicle has roughly 8500 miles on it in the first year. We have experienced multiple engine misfires due to bad ignition coils on cylinders 3 & 4. The first incident was in July 2025, and the second was in November 2025. The first incident was on the freeway, going 75mph, and the second was on a city road, going 35mph. The first incident, I brought the vehicle to the dealership, and they replaced the coil, cleaned the cylinder, and covered everything under warranty. The dealership told me this is common and Hyundai will not replace the remaining coils until they misfire, even though the dealership knows the coils do not perform well in colder weather. I called corporate regarding this issue, and they confirmed that they will not replace the remaining coils, although a mechanic at a dealership they work with has already confirmed they regularly misfire. The Hyundai call center refuses to reach out to the dealership to confirm, will not provide written documentation, and will not provide me with more solutions for their defective vehicle. I asked them if they could provide me with written confirmation that the vehicle was safe, but they could not.

Unknown. I was exiting the freeway onto off ramp, was slowing down to break for a line of cars at a red light and the car shut off and stopped before i came to a complete stop on my own. All lights on dashboard lit up. The dash said the engine is off and to push the P (park) and restart engine. I had to do this quickly twice before car actually started, as traffic started to move. Luckily, a collision in the front and back was avoided but this was extremely unsafe and unexpected. Now I’m scared to drive this car. After car started, the engine and oil lights came on then went off within a few seconds. Appointment scheduled for dealership diagnostic testing.

A dangerous and unpredictable braking issue has plagued my brand-new SUV (under 5,000 miles). On multiple occasions, the brakes have engaged suddenly and without warning while driving, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly in the middle of the road. This creates a hazardous situation with the potential for rear-end collisions, putting my family at risk and causing back pain to my passengers. The same problem also occurs when parking. The dealership requires a five-day service appointment, but the lack of any pre-warning lamps or indicators makes this issue especially concerning.

When driving on uneven bumpy roads, I find my ABS gives a collision warning and engages the brakes. I’ve almost crashed once already and I don’t know what to do. Also when parking in tight spots, the ABS turns on due to collision warning and instantly activates the brakes, causing me to almost hit the cars in front or behind me.

Vehicle is a 2025 Hyundai Palisade subject to Hyundai Recall 292, concerning improper deployment of the third-row side curtain air bags in a crash, in noncompliance with FMVSS 226 (Ejection Mitigation). Per Hyundai's recall notice, the remedy is still under development and no repair is currently available. The manufacturer has advised owners to continue driving while awaiting the remedy. The safety concern is significant because an infant is regularly transported in the third row of this vehicle. In a side-impact crash, improper side curtain air bag deployment increases the risk of injury or occupant ejection — a risk that falls directly on the person seated in the affected row. With no remedy available, owners have no means to mitigate this risk other than ceasing to use the third row entirely, which is not a reasonable long-term solution for a three-row SUV purchased specifically to accommodate additional family members. Regarding the specific guideline questions: the defect is a manufacturer-identified noncompliance and has not been (and cannot be) reproduced or inspected by a dealer, because no diagnostic or repair procedure exists. There are no warning lamps or pre-failure symptoms, as the defect would only manifest in the event of a crash. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance, as no crash has occurred. I am filing this complaint to formally document the safety risk while a remedy remains unavailable, and to request that NHTSA prioritize expedited development and deployment of the fix.

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle has repeatedly produced white smoke during cold start and has experienced loss of engine power while driving. Despite multiple repair visits (six times) to an authorized Hyundai dealership, the dealer repeatedly stated that the condition could not be reproduced and no repairs were performed. I provided video evidence of the white smoke and described the symptoms in writing at each visit. Shortly after the most recent service visit(12/22/25), within approximately five days, the vehicle displayed an “Engine Power Limited” warning message and a malfunction indicator light (MIL). When this occurred, the vehicle’s power was significantly reduced, making it difficult to maintain speed and creating a potentially dangerous condition, especially during highway driving or merging into traffic. This issue poses a serious safety risk because sudden loss of engine power can increase the risk of collision. The problem appears to be intermittent but recurring, and it has not been properly diagnosed or corrected by the dealership despite repeated opportunities. The vehicle has not been repaired for this condition, and the defect remains unresolved. The condition may be available for inspection upon request, and diagnostic data such as warning messages and onboard fault codes should be present in the vehicle’s system. The failure began with white smoke during cold start and later escalated to engine power limitation and warning lights.

I have 25 Palisade calligraphy and from the last two months I almost went 7-8 times to the dealership because of the ABS issue. When going over rougher road, railroad tracks, and also uneven surfaces brake is not working at that time. It is an issue that only happens under very specific conditions like slow speeds (under 10 mph), uneven surface (gravel, railroad tracks, speed bumps, driveway entry). Acts like ABS is activated but it the car isn't acknowledging that it is. I work in Manhattan and that is very crowdy place and at that time my car brake is not working, I almost hit the crowd because my car is not stopping at the stop line, it is very serious issue, please consider it and take this feedback.

ABS kicks in with even the slightest bump. Had an incident a couple weeks ago where I went over a bump while leaving a store and the car almost did not stop before hitting oncoming traffic. Have had issues for 10 months with the car not accelerating properly or shifting properly. Have tried to drive in every mode (smart, sport, comfort) and nothing makes it better. I have had the vehicle to the shop 3 times. First 2 times said no problem. The third time stated my rear seal is leaking and transmission is leaking as well as 4x4 coupler needs replaced. I feel unsafe to drive in this vehicle with me and my children.

WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
This vehicle on multiple occasions per week will have what my husband can only describe as the ABS incorrectly kick on. It happens in our driveway, rocky parking lots or streets that aren’t even. The vehicle shakes uncontrollably and the brakes can not be pressed when it happens. In the worst situation we ended up over a curb, luckily the curb seemed to help stop us before potentially hitting a post office. No lights come up on the dashboard and it isn’t easy to replicate as it happens randomly - usually at lower speeds - when coming into a stop. Our safety is put at risk every time we drive, not knowing if the issue will happen; and not being able to brake or remedy the issue. This is not a one time incident - this happens multiple times a week.

SEAT BELTS,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
Randomly, the second row seat belts will unbuckle by themselves, and the seat belt warning will randomly go off indicating the seat belt was unbuckled all the while no one was sitting in the seat. At random, while using the adaptive cruise control, the car will brake by itself, when there is no car close enough in front to activate the braking system. A few times, while using the adaptive cruise control, the system speed up for no reason. The only way to get the car to stop speeding up was to disengage the cruise control. Braking did not help

POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
1 complaint
The engine issue first started as a small knock and hesitation during acceleration, which has now progressed into full misfiring and loss of performance. Diagnostic documents indicate internal mechanical failure. Hyundai has failed to timely fix the issue, and the vehicle remains unsafe to drive. I was issued a loaner vehicle but told not to drive it out of town. This left me and my family without a safe and reliable form of transportation. I am requesting a full investigation and buyback of this vehicle due to repeated failure, poor service response, and continued risk to driver safety.

The ABS engaged unnecessarily when I pressed the brake pedal, causing the vehicle to slide forward about 6-10 feet while I was driving at approximately 10 miles per hour. The same situation has occurred three times over the past seven months. When the ABS engages, it takes longer for the vehicle to slow down or stop. This poses a potential risk for everyday driving. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,LANE DEPARTURE
1 complaint
When using lane assist the vehicle is pulled into other lanes, including into oncoming traffic. This happens even when the vehicle is centered in the lane. This is extremely dangerous because it can cause an accident. When using cruise control, the lane assist comes on automatically which is extremely dangerous because the vehicle is going at high speeds on the highway. The dealership is aware of the situation. Both the mechanic and the salesman have driven the vehicle with me and experienced the problem. Additionally, the salesman and I drove another 2025 palisade and the lane assist problem was present in that vehicle also.

driving down gravel and uneven road when trying to break at stop sign. Car would not slow down or break as another car was coming down the road. At this time is when I pushed the break petal all the way down car was still not slowing down, the car started to do the death wobble, shake violently and vibrating, pulsing back and forth side to side up and down, steering wheel shaking. I had to let off the break and press the gas to hurry and speed up before the oncoming car hit me with my 2 small children inside. I have taken my car to the dealer ship and they told me there is no recalls for the 2025 Hyundai palisade my car has 5,036 miles on it bought it brand new off the lot, the service representative states they will look into it that it may take 24-48 hours to get back to me, but this may also be a suspension component but they will look into the incident. There were warnings signs and I take this route everyday every time I would break I could never fully press the break down as it would start shaking and make metal on metal noise and I would have to ease off the break petal.

Getting out of a parking lot onto the road with my family in the car. The car would not break in spite of hitting the breaks before making the turn onto the road, the oncoming vehicle stopped int time to prevent a T-Bone crash . After looking online , seems like a known issue with this model and the Hyundai will not acknowledge it. Please take action

Unknown. Twice while trying to accelerate onto highway on ramp, the car did not go faster immediately as expected. It didn’t pick up speed. I’m trying to go from 35 to 60 and there’s a delay from the time I step on gas until the car actually go faster. It didn’t stall or shut off. If someone was behind me, I fear i would have been rear ended. Dealership said diagnostic test was fine and unable to reproduce. They reset computer and said it must be my driving. Car had ~310 miles.

SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Unknown. In a span of 15 minutes, I encountered 3 events in traffic where accidents could've occurred. I was in the middle turning lane, completely stopped. I tried to accelerate and start left turn when the car shut down, all lights on dashboard lit up. There's an alert saying push P (park) and restart engine. It took 2 or 3 times of trying to get the car to start. Once started the engine and oil lights came on. They went off soon after. Luckily, the car stopped before the turn started or there may have been an accident. I continue my drive down the street, come to an intersection where I slowly brake, the front passenger tire hit a pothole and the car slid into intersection (my foot still on the brake) instead of coming to a compete stop before the intersection. Again, accident avoided only because the oncoming traffic passed before car slid forward. Lastly, trying to get home safely and shaken badly, I come to another intersection. I'm the first car with 4 cars behind me. I'm completely stopped at a red light. The light turns green, I attempt to accelerate to move through light and the car shuts down again. All lights on dashboard light up, the emergency brake is automatically engaged and I spend the light cycle trying to get the car to restart. I had to release the emergency parking brake, put car in park, try to push start button. Last steps repeated more than once. Thank goodness the cars behind me were paying attention and didn't drive based on the light being green. There was no warning for any of these events. It was extremely scary and I don't trust the car to drive it further. I'm having it towed to the dealership for inspection. This is a 2025 with 636 miles on it and about 8 incidents regarding safety since purchased less than 2 months ago.

1) Transmission sticks and doesn't shift at higher speeds, had dealer look at could not replicate. I have had many instances of this happening. Safety issue is this usually happens when accelerating to get on freeway or passing someone and then I need to back off gas pedal to get it to change gears 2) Anti collision warning goes on for no reason - has not engaged brakes. Safety issue is both times I hit the brakes thinking i was going to hit something but there was nothing in front of me.- will talk with dealer service manager this week 3) Anti lock brakes engaged at a normal stop - this could have caused an accident. I was able to stop car going into intersection by slamming breaks on - this has happened twice. Huge safety issue as I was entering a intersection and had trouble stopping the car. will talk with dealer service manager this week

My 25 Pallisade front end/front wheels shake violently when braking and hitting a bump at the same time. It shakes so hard my steering wheel shakes also. It can happen when braking hard, soft, small bump, big bump, it doesn’t seem to matter. It is brand new and I took it into the dealership when there was about 1500 miles on it. They didn’t find anything wrong.

The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the driver's side headlamp failed to adequately illuminate the roadway. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who agreed that the headlamp provided little illumination but informed the contact that the headlight was functioning as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10.

When traveling slowly and braking, if you hit a bump the car steering begins to shake wildly that makes you feel you will lose control. You have to bump the brakes to make it stop. Seems like the anti lock brakes kick in when it shouldn’t and because it is the front tires make the car violently shake. Happens intermittently and difficult to reproduce at will. Has happened numerous times. Brought to dealership and because it can’t be reproduced at will they will not investigate the issue. Seems to be only a matter of time this will cause an accident.
