Recall for safety seat belts not repaired in a timely manner. It’s been 2.5 months, I called the first time after one month to see how much longer for the parts to come in and was basically told it is what it is, most people wait over 2 months, that was in January. It is now March and still no repairs done. Finally on an expedited list after this second phone call. Hopefully not too much longer because I don’t feel safe driving my twins in this vehicle.

Seatbelts in front and middle row do not latch right away most of the time. We have to double check the every time and push extra hard to get them to click in.

I'm just realizing this is a recall. I have not been notified by mail. My second row passenger seatbelt does not always lock. I have been getting on my children thinking it was them. Also I have not been contacted about the third row head space issue. So I'm wanting to get me complaint online

I was driving, the car was making a noise and shaking. No warning lights were on indicating anything wrong. All of a sudden the entire car lost power while I was driving highway speeds. I tried to turn back on and everything was flashing. Turned back off. Turned on and car turned on. Still making noise. No warning lights. Then it happened again while driving. Got the car home parked. It’s lucky that no one hit me as I wasn’t moving on a highway and had my child in the car.

Moving portion of panoramic sunroof glass exploded outwards while driving 60 MPH. Loud noise and glass could have injured driver, caused an accident, or damaged surrounding vehicles. The dealership has inspected and denied responsibility. There was no warning or indication of the issue, the vehicle had passed state safety inspection a month prior and was serviced at the dealership 6 months prior.
Apr 02, 2026
The vehicle is experiencing a transmission failure that causes sudden jerking, hesitation, and loss of smooth acceleration when the engine reaches approximately 1,500–2,000 RPM. When driving under normal conditions on both city roads and highways, the transmission appears to slip or fail to properly engage or shift gears within this RPM range. When this occurs, the vehicle jerks violently and momentarily loses power, creating a dangerous driving situation. This happens while accelerating in traffic and when attempting to maintain speed. The sudden hesitation and loss of proper transmission engagement creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle may not respond properly to acceleration, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision or crash, especially when merging onto highways or driving in traffic. This issue occurs regularly and has become progressively worse over time, indicating a potential transmission defect rather than a one-time malfunction. The problem was inspected and documented by Bill Luke Marana dealership in Tucson, Arizona. During their inspection, diagnostic data showed abnormal transmission input and output speed readings, confirming irregular transmission operation. The dealership marked the concern as requiring immediate attention. There were no consistent warning lights prior to the failure, despite the severity of the symptoms. The vehicle and the dealership diagnostic documentation are available for inspection upon request.

Child Safety Lock Failure. When activating the child safety lock, it continously lock and unlocks, making a clicking noise. The lock is ultimately disengaged after which an error notification is displayed: Child Safety Lock Failure. It's been going on for at least 6 mo the now.

Leaking coolant: I have noticed that the coolant tank is empty a couple of days before and took it to the dealership and filled that. In 24hrs I saw the level went from full to lower level (so there is certainly leak happening. However, the dealership in not able to identify leak after 7-8 hrs testing. What is wrong with hyundai palisade 2021? I am not sure if it is safe to drive.

Large crack formed without any projectile involved. Car was sitting in the garage and temperature was around 40 degrees. Crack starts from the bottom of the windshield near the driver's side and extends upward about 12 inches. The car had been sitting in the garage for 4 days without being driven. Vehicle only has 21,455 miles but is out of warranty due to age.

We have had the car towed twice to and from the dealer to fix the problem and they are telling us the parts are on back order and they cant fix the car but they put in in the system that it has been fixed. This is Colorado Spring time the weather can do anything here this time of year the car is not safe to drive but the dealer told my wife they will not give her a loaner car so she is being forest to drive a unsafe car.

Windshield cracks under normal highway driving condition. Smaller rocks coming onto windshield are expected under highway driving conditions. Of all the 9 vehicles that I have owned previously none had this issue but with Hyundai Palisade the glass cracked very easily. I have small cracks on my windshield at multiple places and it appears that Hyundai has installed a thin windshield or a windshield not suited for highways in USA. Could NHTSA please investigate this?

While driving down the highway a truck in front of me slings a rock into my windshield. Watched this small crack run all the way across my windshield shortly after. These windshields are too fragile. I have never experienced this with any other vehicle I have owned.

ENGINE
24 complaints
The engine in my 2021 Hyundai Palisade experienced sudden loss of oil leading to engine failure. The vehicle had been regularly serviced and maintained at a Hyundai dealership according to recommended intervals. During multiple service visits, the dealership informed me the vehicle was low on oil. An oil consumption test was performed but the results were inconclusive. At approximately 99,500 miles, the vehicle developed an oil leak which the dealership diagnosed as a gasket issue and repaired under warranty. An oil change was completed at that time. Approximately 5,000 miles later, while driving, the vehicle began experiencing loss of power and rough engine operation. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership later informed me the engine had no oil in it when inspected. There were no active external leaks observed at that time. The dealership stated that it is “normal” for this engine to consume up to one quart of oil per 1,000 miles. The engine now requires full replacement due to internal damage caused by oil loss. This situation created a safety concern because the vehicle began losing power while in operation. The failure occurred suddenly without warning indicators prior to the loss of engine performance. The vehicle had documented oil level concerns during previous service visits, suggesting a potential excessive oil consumption or engine defect. The failed engine is currently available for inspection at the dealership.
Mar 10, 2026
Excessive oil consumption. The vehicle is burning nearly 4 quarts of oil between changes. This started at around 100,000 miles with no warning lights. The only indication was a strange tapping noise coming from the engine.
Mar 08, 2026
This vehicle is still using the defective style piston rings causing oil consumption of 1.5qts in 1000miles, With only 100,000miles. This has been ongoing since we purchased the vehicle with 94,000 miles. This needs to be issued as a recall to replace piston rings or the engine entirely. My valuemax level 4 extended warranty is refusing to repair the issue stating hyundai/kia has carbon buildup on the piston rings. This engine could run low on oil and cause a fire, or a engine shut down causing a crash.
Feb 28, 2026
OIL FILTER HOUSING IS LEAKING. PLASTIC PART IS WARPED AND DOES NOT ALLOW FILTER TO SEAL. LEAKING OIL IS A FIRE HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE.

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering assist functionality. Several warning lights were illuminated, and the headlights and turn signals became inoperable. The contact stopped the vehicle and shifted into reverse (R); however, the rear-view camera failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to the residence, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,400.

My sunroof was working perfectly fine a month ago. I opened it while i was driving to get some air 10/28/2025 and heard a cracking noise. I immediately stopped it. The glass was off the track and it would not close. It only opens a little then stops. Took it to Hyundai dealership and they said in their report"the tracks are cracked, glass came off the track and tracks are warped." This is going to cost me 3k and this was clearly a malfunction of the vehicle!!

SUSPENSION
20 complaints
When driving at low speeds and going over bumps and speed bumps there is a thumping noise coming from the driver’s side rear. I’ve had the issue for quite some time now and there is a TSB on it for a faulty shock insulator. Between 2 different dealerships they have replaced it 3 times now and it’s doing it all over again. The last dealership has told me it is normal noise for the age and mileage of the vehicle.
Feb 20, 2026
I have a popping noise coming from the rear driver side suspension and it rides rough. I have been told by Hyundai that my rear shocks are leaking and from a different shop that my rear shock mount and absorber are causing the noise.
Nov 21, 2025
The 2021 Palisades started riding very rough and bouncy. I made an appointment and took it to Edmond Hyundai for the repairs. They initially said that the rear insulator-strut needed to be replaced and they would order them. It took 10 days to get the parts from Dallas and made another appointment to get it fixed. The dealership took 6 hours to replace only the insulator and kept it over night to do the 4 wheel alignment which they would not cover as warranty per the Service Manager but it was need. I picked it up the next day only to discover that only the insulator was replaced and was told that the service tech test drove the vehicle and it's fixed. I drove out and tested the suspension, it took only 1 mile and back it went to get fixed.
Aug 02, 2025
Rear suspension shocks were blown and started leaking causing the vehicle to become very bumpy and unstable. The blown shocks were confirmed by a brake shop and ultimately replaced at the manufacturer dealership.

2021 Palisade was in for a repair on 5-13-2025. Mileage at that time was 62,144. I requested that a noise that I was hearing in the back of the car be investigated. The noise sounds like a pop that happens when turning or going over bumps. I was told by the dealer that the rear shock insulator caps needed to be replaced to the tune of $2000. I was not told there is a TSB for this issue. Unfortunately, this issue occurred when I was on vacation or I would have been able to have the car looked at before it hit 60,000 miles. The warranty might have covered this issue at that time. I researched this issue and learned of the TSB on this vehicle for this issue. I have read this website and learned that many have reported this.

POWER TRAIN
10 complaints
I own a 2021 Hyundai Palisade and have experienced a complete transmission failure that I believe Hyundai had prior knowledge of and failed to address. Before my warranty expired, I contacted the dealership several times to report transmission symptoms I was experiencing. I was told that because no diagnostic code had been produced at that time, there was nothing they could do. Eventually, my check engine light came on with a P0741 code — Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance. When I brought the vehicle in, the dealer flushed the transmission fluid, which came out dark and contaminated with metal particles. After running the vehicle, the fluid was still dark, indicating active internal damage already in progress. The dealership has now told me I need a full transmission replacement at my own expense. I am the second owner of this vehicle with approximately 105,000 miles. I have since learned that Hyundai issued Technical Service Bulletin #20-AT-005H-1 specifically addressing the P0741 code on the 2021 Palisade, instructing dealers to replace the solenoid and valve body harness. This repair procedure was never applied to my vehicle despite my early report of symptoms. I believe this is a known defect that Hyundai has failed to escalate to a recall, leaving consumers like me with thousands of dollars in repair costs for a problem the manufacturer was already aware of. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and consider whether a recall is warranted for the 2021 Hyundai Palisade.
Apr 22, 2026
My vehicle is burning oil at an excessive rate causing vibration when the oil is nearly depleted and an unsafe driving condition. The vehicle will burn nearly all the oil in approximately 1000 miles. This has happened repeatedly. It is widely known amongst Palisade owners and the subject of numerous online posts. In addition, the dealership has acknowledged widespread issues with an oil burning problem.
Feb 03, 2026
The vehicle experienced premature transmission failure, including torque converter clutch malfunction, hesitation, jerking at speeds between 30–35 mph and 50–60 mph, and drivability issues. Diagnostic indicators are consistent with widespread complaints from other Hyundai Palisade owners. This failure presents a potential safety concern due to unpredictable vehicle response, hesitation during acceleration, and reduced control during highway driving. Dealer / Manufacturer Response: Hyundai Motor America requires an authorized dealer to submit a warranty or goodwill claim for review. The servicing dealer, Reliable Hyundai (Springfield, Missouri), has refused to submit the claim, preventing evaluation and resolution. This issue appears to be a known defect affecting multiple vehicles of the same model year. I am submitting this complaint to assist NHTSA in identifying patterns that may warrant investigation or recall action.

THE 2021HYUNDAI PALISADE AT A FOUR WAY LIGHT STOP BUSY INTERSECTION. UPON GIVING HAS AND MAKING THE LEFT TURN FROM CIMMIRON UNTO SARATOGA BLVD THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE LIKE IF VEHICLE IN 4WD BUT THE VEHICLE IS AN AWD AND IT LOSS LIKE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION ALMOST REAR ENDED AND HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE THE LIGHT BEGUN TO CHANGE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HYUNDAI AND FOUND OUT ONLINE AND AT THE DEALER THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH AWD PALISADES. THERE IS EVEN A TSB BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE, THE 4WD COUPLING STARTS GOING BAD AND MAKES VEHICLE NOISES AND LOSE POWER IN DRIVETRAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND ACTION MUST BE TAKEN BEFORE LAWSUITS COMING FLYING. FOR CRYING OUTLOUD I HAD MY GRAND BABIES WITH ME AND ALMOST GOT INTO A THREE-WAY CAR ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE PALISADE DECIDED NOT TO GO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO FIX ALL FAULTY AWD COUPLINGS THAT MAKE THE TIRES TURN PROPERLY. MY FRIEND HAS A 23 MODEL AND HAVING SAME ISSUES IT IS ALSO AN ALL-WHEEL DRIVE PALISADE. DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS HYUNDAI IS AWARE AND THERE IS A FORUM ON THIS ISSUE BUT NO RECALL THIS IS INSANE.

Tried to open sunroof and it came off its track and twisted which caused some pieces to break. It is stuck in an open position. The vehicle has 144,000 miles so it no longer has any warranty coverage. We had to gorilla tape it down otherwise it could fly off while going down the road. I’ve read there has been many of the same incident happening to others.

I tried opening my sunroof and it made a clicking noise and is now stuck partially open. The dealership said that there is a set of Hyundai vehicles that are being covered by this malfunction but that my particular VIN isn't included. A Hyundai dealership is looking at it on Monday 03/17/2025 and is unsure if Hyundai will cover the repair since my VIN isn't included and I am past the bumper to bumper warranty. I only have the powertrain warranty left.

Feb 16, 2025
1) While I was driving, the “Rear passenger door trim” started to come off of my car. My car was not hit and I did not hit anything. Upon further evaluation, the plastic pieces holding the trim on were broken. How they became broken is unknown. I was able to reattach trim to my car, but it is still loose because the plastic pieces holding the trim on are still broken. 2) It was a safety hazard to others while driving on the road. If it flew off my car while driving on the highway, it could hit other cars, potentially causing an accident. In addition, it was difficult for my child to climb out of the car without getting cut by the trim. 3) my dealer has verified that the trim is broken and loose on my car. 4) the Hyundai dealer has inspected to problem. $550 was the verbal quote to replace. Not covered by warranty. 5) no warning messages for the problem. My child told me about it when she tried to get out of the rear passenger door. Problem first noticed July 2023. Looking online, multiple people have complained about this happening to them for no reason on the same exact car. I believe the plastic pieces holding the trim on the car are defective.

The sunroof failed to totally open or close after an initial engagement. Further inspection revealed the sunroof wind deflector frame slides and shoes were broken, and cables were loose and out of position. Keep in mind, the sunroof has been used only a handful of times. After doing some research and learning Palisades had a history of exploding sunroofs, I worried that continuing to drive the car in a compromised condition (even a covered film to keep wind and rain out) would trigger the sunroof to do the same, putting my grandchildren in danger. After taking it to the dealer and having them confirm a TSB issued by Hyundai to address this very issue, I also learned it would not be a covered expense. Repair would run 3,000, a hefty consumer expense for a recognized flaw and safety hazard by the manufacturer.

The sunroof on the vehicle has completely broken with minimal use the vehicle is a 2021 and only one owner. I started my car using my key fob so the car wouldn’t be as hot when my baby and I got in. I walked to the back passenger side, unlocked the car and put my baby into the car. I then walked around to the driver’s side door and somehow the car was locked even though I had just unlocked it. I had my keys in my hand so I pressed the unlock button. My car would not unlock. I tried all of the doors and tried to lock and unlock my vehicle multiple times. I was about to break a window since my 7 month old was locked inside when I realized maybe the trunk would open. It did and I had to climb through my trunk to get into my vehicle to unlock it. This is exceptionally dangerous as I live in a very hot climate and a child can die in a hot car in minutes. Even though the car was running if you do not get into your car in 10 minutes the car automatically turns off. If someone does not remain calm in that situation they may not think to try the trunk. I have not yet notified the dealer or had the vehicle inspected. I was able to recreate the incident without my child inside. If anyone would like to inspect my vehicle that is fine. This is a deadly accident waiting to happen.

The infotainment system that is included with the SEL model constantly disconnects from your cell phone. We did not know prior to buying this model that Hyundai had changed their vehicle packages so that the midrange does not have options for navigation or xm radio. This becomes a safety issue because instead of having my attention on the road as I should, I am attempting to reconnect my phone to use maps, and sometimes to fix the music, taking my attention off the road. I set everything up in my car prior to driving and yet the constant in and out of the connection causes me to readjust while driving. On long drives, navigation is essential to make it to the destination. Music is not an essential but it is extremely helpful to pass the time and also helps to curb the tiredness that comes with long drives. This issue may not be the worst possible issue to have but I can see it causing accidents, which is why I decided to report it. For people that do everything they can to set things up prior to driving it is very frustrating and dangerous to have to adjust the infotainment multiple times, even in short 20 minute drives, and not have their full attention on the road where it should be.

I have been having an issue with my 2021 Hyundai Palisade's engine oil consumption. It is constantly burning oil at a high rate, requiring me to purchase oil constantly. I had it serviced at Hyundai in Gurnee, IL. An oil consumption test was conducted. Hyundai corporate stated that my vehicle's engine was not burning oil at the required rate, which prompted an engine replacement. I reached out to corporate because the issue is persisting, but they never responded to my concern. This issue is costing me a significant amount of money, as I have to purchase oil without a remedy from Hyundai regarding my engine oil consumption. As a consumer, it's frustrating because I left without answers on an issue they definitely know about.

The engine has been intermittently cutting off every day. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times, and they say they cannot recreate the issue, so there is absolutely nothing that they can do. The vehicle will shake a little bit and then turn off.

I have a Hyundai Palisade complaint. NHTSA ID Number: 11613395. I was trying to add additional information. The car stopped working again. It stops at intersections and won't start up. This time it wouldn't start at all. Had to be towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. Since June this car has been at the Hyundai Service center. The following parts have been replace. Transmission Front Axle Bearing Kit 3 ignition coils 5 spark plugs This time they are saying the reason the car stops and won't start is the "starter" needs to be replaced. Out of 6 months, this car has been at the service center for 3 months and multiple visits to the servcie center and three major repairs for the same issue. I want to know if others a having the same issues.

The vehicle suffered a structural "seam leak" on the pressurized oil filter housing. This was verified by an authorized Hyundai dealer (Dealer XXX, Invoice #XXX). The failure is a structural crack in the housing component itself, not a maintenance-related seal or filter failure. This defect causes pressurized engine oil to spray directly onto the hot engine block while the vehicle is in operation, creating a severe and immediate fire hazard. Additionally, the rapid loss of oil and oil pressure poses a risk of sudden engine seizure or stalling at highway speeds, which could lead to a crash. Despite being a known manufacturing defect in a critical engine component, the manufacturer has refused to address the safety implications or offer a remedy. We have been in Hyundai’s “oil consumption” protocol for the past 8-10 months. We’ve had 6 oil changes in that time. Each oil change was right a 1,000 miles. My engine is burning between 1.5 - 2.5 quarts of oil EVERY 1,000 MILES. They have been trying to drag this out not having to take ownership of the issue. After reading online, clearly there is an issue with 2021 Palisades and a recall needs to be issued.

Vehicle experienced engine failure previously and received a Hyundai-installed replacement engine in February 2025. Replacement engine is now setting DTC P000A00 – Intake Camshaft Position Slow Response (Bank 1). Hyundai dealership master technician confirmed excessive variance between commanded and actual cam timing, indicating a VVT / cam timing failure controlled by oil and actuators. Hyundai is refusing to cover diagnosis and repair under replacement engine warranty and is requiring customer-paid tear-down despite fault originating within the engine assembly. Concern is for internal engine timing failure that may lead to engine damage or loss of power. This appears consistent with known Hyundai engine timing and oil control issues
Jan 08, 2026
My vehicle experienced a sudden and immediate loss of motive power due to a catastrophic internal engine failure, creating a severe road safety hazard. While driving and attempting to accelerate or merge, the vehicle exhibits extreme hesitation, severe misfiring on cylinder #2, and rough, unstable idling. This unexpected loss of drive power made the vehicle unpredictable and unsafe to operate under normal driving conditions, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicle is currently at the Hyundai dealership (Fox Ann Arbor Hyundai) for diagnosis. The dealer has confirmed and documented the following internal mechanical defects at only 86,000 miles: Compression loss in cylinder #2. Cylinder wall scoring and pitting. Evidence of blow-by and heavy carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. Misfire and rough idle. Oil consumption as a result of the cylinder failure. This failure is a premature mechanical defect, not normal wear. Failures of this nature (sudden loss of motive power due to internal engine defect) have been cited by NHTSA in other recalls and are known to increase the risk of a crash or fire. The manufacturer has acknowledged the defect by offering only 50% goodwill toward a repair, but this defect remains a critical, unresolved safety hazard that requires a full, safe engine replacement."

My local dealer pulled the 40 amp fuse the vehicle's trailer wiring harness because of NHSTA issue: OMB Control No.: 2127-0004 / Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-633. The fuse was pulled in August 2022 (6 months ago), I received a mailed notification from Hyundai, and then they marked the recall as being complete in their website. To date, I have not received any information from Hyundai about the replacement part and we have not been able to use the vehicle for towing in 6 months. I called Hyundai customer support today, and they still do not know a date when the remedy part will become available. We bought this vehicle for vacations to tow our travel trailer. If this vehicle cannot safely tow a trailer for the foreseeable future, I would like compensation and/or the option to sell the vehicle back to Hyundai. What are my options

On my way to work on the interstate with the cruise control set at 80mph a few weeks ago, the cruise control turned off automatically and all the warning lights came on within the dash. I pulled over, but the car seemed to be running fine otherwise. For the next few days the lights would be on or off and sometimes cruise control work and sometimes it didn't. I also noticed the parking break would engage automatically almost with every time I stop, which was also rare. I took the vehicle in for service and they were perplexed by the situation and had me leave my car for a few days. They thought they had it all fixed, but when I picked it up, within 24 hours, the lights came on again. I had noticed some break pressure issues when starting car up with this issue, but never a huge concern, until I backed out of my girlfriends driveway down a hill within 30 seconds of starting the car. With my foot on the pedal, the break disengaged for 2-3 seconds as I drifted down towards the street in reverse, and the ABS starting pumping until I was able to depress the brake and get the car to stop (probably drifted 10-15 feet). Thank goodness no one behind me. I drove the vehicle in for service immediately as they suggested if lights remained on, so they could run diagnostics. They ordered a wheel sensor, which took a few weeks to get in while I still drove the vehicle with the ABS causing me some concern over those 2-3 weeks. Just yesterday before my service to get wheel sensor changed today, I was out picking up food and driving through a flat parking lot within 30 seconds of starting the vehicle. The same issue with ABS happened that I had before and I started going through a stop sign and pedestrian walkway. Luckily no one coming and brakes kicked in again after 5 feet of having no brake control at low speed. Wheel sensor replaced today and lights off. Everything seems to be working. I'm extremely concerned about this safety issue and potential accidents, injuries, deaths!

While driving on the interstate on a clear sunny day at approximately 70 mph within the span of five minutes my vehicle’s emergency braking system engaged (with visible warning on dash screen) causing breaking with a steering deviation forced to the right. Hyundai claims that this is a "Start-Up" safety feature (meaning that it is designed to re-activate itself every time you start the car, even if you had deactivated the feature), and that there is nothing that they can do about overriding this since it is a manufacturing issue. While I appreciate the notion of Hyundai trying to promote safety, I continue to be very upset by this because the system is way too sensitive and has already on 2 separate occasions, caused the brakes to virtually lock-up involuntarily at freeway speeds on the freeways, even though I was otherwise completely in control of the vehicle and certainly not on the brink of any type of accident prior. I continue to contend that this feature is dangerous and that it certainly could cause an accident. Hyundai should not force their customers to use this dangerous feature in the interest of promoting safety, when it reality, it actually does just the opposite.

Environment: Passing a single car on a two lane deserted highway. Daytime, sunny, no rain. Issue: The vehicle's emergency braking system activated (brakes were automatically activated along with the emergency braking cue in the instrument cluster) when the vehicle was returning into the right lane, almost causing a collision between the two vehicles at 85 mph. This occurred a second time 15 minutes later under the same conditions. The car was taken to the dealership for inspection and repair. The dealership test drove the vehicle and could not replicate the issue. Hyundai Engineering noted that since they were not able to replicate the issue and there were no active codes there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. If the radar is functioning properly, there must be an issue with the software of the vehicle.

A car attempted to make a left hand turn across our lane of traffic. We didn't have any chance to break to avoid the collision and all front airbags were deployed. The front passenger airbag didn't seem to deploy properly and seems that it inflated upwards to the windshield and not toward the passenger. The windshield was shattered by the airbags sending glass into the passenger compartment.

A week or so after taking the car in for an oil change, I was on the highway and heard a rattling sound coming from the engine. There were no indicator or warning lights from the dashboard. The car then stopped accelerating. It was on, and the accelerator increased the RPMs but the car did not move faster. I safely got home and checked the oil and it had less than a quart. There were no low-oil indicator lights telling me the oil was low. Separately, this week, while driving in the city, the engine again started making rattling sounds and completely shut off forcing me to pull off the road. Again, prior to the shut off there were no indicator lights. I was able to pull to the side of the road safely. I tried to restart the car and it would idle roughly befor the engine shut off again. After waiting 30 minutes, I checked the oil to see if the previous cause was the culprit, but this time the oil was still full. After 45 minutes, I was able to restart the car and drive home. I researched the issue and there are many complaints on Reddit about this for this make and model. Since the issue is intermittent and can't be replicated at the dealership, there is no fix offered. I no longer trust or feel safe driving this car, especially on highways.

I was driving on a highway going approximately 80 mph when the car stopped accelerating. It was as if someone switched the car to neutral. The engine completely shut off and I had to scramble to safely pull over to the side of the highway. I had to turn the car off, wait, and turn it back on. I got back onto the highway and rushed towards a dealership. The engine shut down two more times. Each time requiring me to pull over to the side of an incredibly dangerous highway to restart the car. The dealership stated it was an issue with the Fuel Injector.

Another vehicle t-boned my vehicle on the front left side. We were both traveling around 15 mph. As soon as he struck my vehicle, the air bags were deployed and the car instantly caught fire. The car was on fire before I was at a complete stop. I was able to pry the door open and crawl through a small opening after moving the air bags out of the way. I had to crawl into traffic to be able to escape the fire. If the door had been jammed more severely then I wouldn't have been able to make it out in time before the fire reached me. If my kids had been in the vehicle, then I would not have been able to get them out before the fire got to them. The police determined that the fire started at the engine. My insurance totaled the vehicle and then it was removed from the towing yard and taken to Montgomery. There were no prior issues or any warnings/messages before the incident.

While driving my Hyndua Palisades on the Southern State Parkway at 55mph, my car shut off. When it happened, I didn't know what was going on. All of the lights on the vehicle went off, and then it shut off while I was still driving it. My 11yr old son and I could have been killed. When is Hyundai going to address the significant problem? My son no longer wants to ride in my car because he has been traumatized by this incident, and I cannot blame him. I have avoided driving on major highways because of this issue. I should not be experiencing this problem with a car that isn't even 3yrs old. How isn't anyone stepping in to ensure Hyundai takes care of this LIFE THREATING PROBLEM? While driving our Palisade on the freeway, the sunroof exploded without warning. Fortunately, the sunroof was closed and we had the internal compartment closed and no one was behind us on the freeway. So the glass did not enter the vehicle or hit another vehicle. But if the indoor compartment was open then glass would have entered into the vehicle and striking individuals in the car. The shattered glass did do damage to the top of our car (i.e. scratches deep enough to take off the paint completely). Based on online forums, and one law firm’s (based in Connecticut) website, this is a known problem with the Hyundai Palisade. It also appears that the NHTSA is investigating the Kia Sorento for this same problem. Thus, the problem has been replicated in other vehicles and Kia/Hyundai are aware of the problem. Our vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone (we are taking it to the dealer in the near future). There was no warning that this was going to happen, it just sounded like a gun was being fired in our car.

THE DESIGN OF THE SHIFTING MECHANISM IS BACKWARDS SO THAT DRIVERS MEANING TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE (AND GO FORWARD) WILL EASILY CONFUSE THE BUTTONS AND PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE (SENDING THE VEHICLE BACKWARDS). THINKING ABOUT A SHIFT KNOB ON A STANDARD VEHICLE, ONE THINKS OF THE KNOB IN "REVERSE" AS BEING BACK TOWARDS THE REAR WINDSHIELD. SAME WITH A MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIR: TO GO FORWARD YOU SELECT THE POSITION IN THE FRONT, AND TO GO BACK, YOU SELECT THE POSITION IN THE BACK. THE CONFUSION HAPPENED TO ME OFTEN ENOUGH THAT I ALWAYS LOOK AT THE BUTTONS CAREFULLY BEFORE GOING FORWARD TO MAKE SURE"D" HAS LIT UP. MY HUSBAND, WHO USUALLY DRIVES ANOTHER CAR, DROVE THIS VEHICLE AND PRESSED "" BY ACCIDENT TWICE AND THE CAR OBVIOUSLY WENT BACKWARDS WHEN HE MEANT TO GO FORWARDS. EVERYONE I ASK HAS AGREED WITH US THAT THE NATURAL (AND THEREFORE MOST SAFE) ORIENTATION WOULD BE TO HAVE THE MOST FORWARD BUTTON BE DRIVE, AND THE BOTTOM TOWARDS THE BACK BE REVERSE. ALTHOUGH WE AVOIDED CRASHES, I THINK THIS DESIGN CREATES THE REAL POSSIBILITY OF MANY ACCIDENTS.

There were 4 adults in the car and all agreed that it was making the road dangerous to drive on. We had to slow down well below the actual speed limit which would cause cars coming around a curve behind us to quickly slow down or run into us. - Took car to Bronco Motors in Boise Id and explained the headlight issue they told us that one other person had come in complaining about this same issue. Their mechanic told us that there is no way to adjust the headlights. -No warnings

The low beam headlights are too bright causing vehicles in the opposite direction to flash their high beams thinking that my high beams are on. This is a safety factor as I am often blinded by other drivers who flash their high beams and in many cases keep their high beams on. I've visited Palisade chat rooms and have found that other drivers have the same complaint. I have contacted Hyundai headquarters and reported the problem and have taken it to dealers three times to have the low beams lowered. I have been told that the low beam adjustment is correct and nothing can be done to fix my problem. I believe this low beam problem is a design defect and should be corrected. My vehicle is available for examination if necessary.

This is health concern and I have felt that my bronchial tubes are getting hot and eyes/throat/nose pain after 15 minute driving, then the pain keeps going on for while even after driving. I suspect toxic degassing from seats or interior materials in vehicle, or comes from engine room. This degassing might have been gradually decreased since purchasing this Palisade in April, 2021, however, I am still suffering from respiratory pain when I drive this vehicle. Hyundai Service Center inspected this Palisade and they told me toxic gas comes from headrests, and offered me to replace headrests. They said a thousands of people complained about this issue already. However, I don't think the toxic gas is from only headrest, but also from the others. They cleaned the headrests, but nothing changed. I conducted inspections personally as follows. 1. Tested indoor air quality in the vehicle by using a sensor from Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier without running engine and with closed all doors/windows/vent. 2. Tested indoor air quality in the vehicle for 10 minutes by using Gray Wolf AdvancedSense Pro with multiple DirectSense probes and with closed all doors/windows/vent and running a fan (indoor air circulation) The result from a sensor of Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier showed "Bad air quality" at the test number 1 regardless headrests (without headrests). The result from Gray Wolf AdvancedSense Pro showed HCN 120.0 micron g/m3, TVOC 1200 ppb, and SO2 0.2 ppm. I believe those values would be increased if measurement time increase. There is no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the issue when they first appear. The engine oil system failed due to a persistent oil leak that was present from the time of purchase on December 16th 2024. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and is currently immobile due to a completely seized engine. My safety was put at serious risk because the vehicle has no functioning low oil warning indicator to alert the driver of critically low oil levels. I was driving this vehicle regularly for work with no indication whatsoever that the engine was losing oil. A seized engine can cause sudden and complete loss of vehicle control which puts not only the driver but other drivers and pedestrians at risk. This failure occurred without any warning while the vehicle was in regular use. The oil leak was brought to the selling dealership, Auto Merchants Inc. in Plano Texas, for repair on January 6th 2026. They kept the vehicle overnight and confirmed it was fixed. The problem was not resolved as the vehicle continued losing oil. On March 3rd 2026 I discovered the engine was completely empty and added 6 full quarts of oil with no warning light appearing. I also contacted Hyundai consumer affairs and the Hyundai dealership directly who confirmed the manufacturer warranty had already expired at the time of purchase on December 16th 2024 and declined to cover the repair. The vehicle has not yet been formally inspected by the manufacturer or insurance representatives. The dealership serviced it on January 6th 2026 and claimed the leak was repaired however the engine seized on April 20th 2026 due to continued oil loss. There were zero warning lamps or indicators of any kind prior to the engine seizing completely on April 20th 2026. No low oil warning light appeared at any point during the 4 months I owned this vehicle despite the engine running completely out of oil on three separate occasions. The only symptom prior to full engine seizure was the vehicle sputtering when coming to a stop on April 19th 2026, one day before the engine seized completely

While vacationing in Myrtle Beach with my family the vehicle alarmed and then progressed to critical failure of safety functions while traveling at approximately 55mph on Friday April 3, 2026. The vehicle was brought to Myrtle Beach Hyundai where it was eventually diagnosed and repaired as an Alternator issue that I have found to be common with this specific vehicle. The issues I have experienced with this vehicle go far beyond a typical mechanical concern. Over time, the vehicle has exhibited repeated electrical system malfunctions, including: - False blind spot collision warnings when no vehicles are present - Intermittent failure of the crash avoidance system - Loss of cruise control functionality tied to system faults - A broader electrical failure event that triggered multiple warning systems simultaneously Most concerning, these failures have occurred while the vehicle was in motion, creating an unpredictable and potentially hazardous driving condition. The loss and unreliability of critical driver-assist and safety systems directly impacts driver awareness and vehicle control, which raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple attempts to have this diagnosed through the dealership network while under warranty, no definitive root cause was identified, and the issue has persisted. This suggests the possibility of a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated component failure. Additionally, I have found that similar complaints involving electrical system irregularities and cascading warning system failures have been reported by other owners of this model, further supporting the concern that this may represent a known or emerging defect pattern. Given these factors, I do not believe this situation should be categorized as routine. Instead, it warrants review under the lens of: - Vehicle safety risk - Potential defect trend - Failure of critical driver-assistance systems during operation This vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.

When I push on the brake the car starts to tug. Feels like it wants to turn off. Happened several times after I got a recall checked. 2 weeks ago same thing was happening and my car all of a sudden turns off. The lights on the dashboard turned on and the emergency brake engaged. I was able to turn the car back in after 3 tries. 6 days later I was driving 50mph and my car suddenly changes shifts on its own. It changed to neutral and then my car shuts off and again the dashboard lights turn on and the emergency brake engages. Again turned on after 3 times. Now the dealership is telling me that its my injectors. And that I had 10% fluid in my gas tank. That will not cause my car to shift gears and 10% is an excessive amount that would mess my car up

I own a 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy with approximately 114,000 miles. The transmission had to be replaced at around 98,000 miles. Recently, before my next scheduled oil change (I had about 1,000 miles left), my vehicle suddenly began making a loud knocking noise and lost power. The dealer informed me that the engine may have blown. There were no warning lights, oil indicators, or overheating signs before this happened. The car has been regularly maintained and serviced with timely oil changes. This appears to be a premature engine failure possibly related to oil consumption or an internal defect, as many other Palisade owners have reported similar issues. Hyundai Consumer Affairs has been contacted, and a case number is being opened for review. I am filing this complaint to report a potential widespread engine problem and request investigation into 2021 Hyundai Palisade engine reliability and oil-related failures.

Magnetic chest clip will pop open after clipped. With one finger underneath you can entirely pop it open. Our original chest did the same thing, so chicco sent a new one and now just about a year later, this one also failed. Chicco is now sending a non-magnetic chest clip to remedy, however, this seems to be a further reaching problem. I am a CPST.

**Vehicle:** 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, ~75,000 miles. Purchased February 2025. **Problem 1 - Forward Camera Failure:** The forward-facing camera system controlling lane keeping assist, emergency braking, and lane departure warning has completely failed. Dashboard warnings appeared in recent weeks including "Check Forward Safety system" and "Forward Safety system disabled" before total failure. This eliminates critical safety features designed to prevent accidents, significantly increasing collision risk. Camera unit behind rearview mirror available for inspection. **Problem 2 - Rear Shock Failure:** Rear shock absorbers have failed, causing excessive clunking and compromised vehicle stability. Rear suspension has been clunking since purchase in February. This creates dangerous driving conditions with reduced stability, increased stopping distances, and poor emergency handling. This is a known issue covered under Hyundai Technical Service Bulletin 22-22-001H. **Safety Risk:** Both failures create serious safety hazards - eliminating collision avoidance systems and compromised vehicle control/stability. **Professional Confirmation:** Local Hyundai dealer has confirmed both the camera system failure and rear shock absorber failure through diagnostic testing and inspection. **Components Available:** Both the failed camera system and rear shock absorbers remain available for inspection upon request. **Request:** Investigation and remedial action for these safety-critical defects, particularly given the rear shock issue is a documented manufacturing problem per TSB 22-22-001H.

The forward collision warming sign just activated when there is no danger. The car will suddenly apply sharp brakes when you are even on the high with a speed over 65 miles per hour. It is very dangerous and scary and can lead to accidents. My car false alarms get activated more than three times a day. I hope Hyundai will recall this and fix this issue.

In January 2025, during snowy weather, the windshield wipers on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade failed mid-operation and began making a buzzing noise. After 3–4 uses, they locked up and stopped functioning, causing a serious visibility issue. This occurred while driving, putting my safety at risk. This symptom directly matches NHTSA Recall 23V-180 / Hyundai Campaign 243, which I was told had already been addressed by the dealership I purchased from (Fitzgerald Hyundai in Gaithersburg, MD). I bought the vehicle used in April 2023, around the time this recall was active. I brought the vehicle back to that dealership in May 2025. They confirmed the wiper motors appeared to be binding and recommended replacement. However, they claimed the issue was not related to the recall and charged me a diagnostic fee of $209. Their service summary matches the defect described in the recall. I believe the recall fix was either never performed properly or did not actually resolve the underlying issue. This appears to be a recurring safety defect that puts drivers at continued risk.

1. When accelerating, the entire car shudders intermittently but especially after letting off of the accelerator and then reapplying pressure to the accelerator. 2. The entire rear suspension makes popping and clicking noises constantly and seems to "bottom out" when going over the slightest bump or road imperfection. It causes the vehicle to bounce excessively potentially causing it to "fish tail". Discussed with dealer during early scheduled maintenance with little to no concern by them.

I was unable to use my seatbelt because the end that accepts the strap, would not allow the seatbelt to click in to the device. I had to drive without a seatbelt several miles. I tried probably 20 times to get it to click in before giving up. My husband was able to somehow reset the mechanism, and it appears to be working fine at the moment. but I fear I could get either locked in or out of the seatbelt in the future. There was no warning the seatbelt was having an issue prior to this event. Also, it appears my model, the 2021 Hyundai Calligraphy is not included in the service bulletin campaign with the issue of a knock in the rear end (my noise is coming from the right rear area of the vehicle. Most likely the rear shock absorber, upper insulator. I'm not sure of the safety issue this will cause. Hyundai wants to charge me $160.00 to tell me if that is what it is. Knowing the other models in this year have this issue My vehicle has approx. 68,000.00 miles. They have told me my warranty expired at 60,000 miles.

Paint started chipping… Dealer stated it was from a rock, however a rock chip doesn’t cause a whole section of paint bigger than a quarter to just flake off.. ironically there was another vehicle on the lot having the same issues . Lasty the suspension it has clicking noises that cannot be resolved.

In June of 2024, my Hyundai Palisade started shuddering every time I shifted from 20mph to 30mph. Twice the car shuddered and stopped at intersections and had to be shut off and restarted. I then received an engine light on my dashboard. I dropped off at Safford Hyundai in June and after evaluation by mechanic was told several components should be changed. 1)Replace three ignition coils 2)Replace three injector gaskets 3)Replace all 6 spark plugs 4)Perform Fuel Injector cleaning service. Total cost was $2,875.95. I was told the repair would take 1 day but received the car after 5 days and that too after many calls and emails. On the day we received the car, we had to drive long distance for our summer vacation. Within a few miles of our summer vacation, the car started shuddering again. This problem was supposed to be solved by the repairs that had just been done. I immediately informed Safford Hyundai. When we got back from vacation, I took the car to a nearby well know mechanic and he immediately said that was a transmission issue and should have been covered by Hyundai warranty. I went back to Safford Hyundai dealership and that is when they said indeed it was a transmission issue and was covered by warranty. This was on 8/7. Unfortunately because of the huge backlog of Hyundai transmission issues, I was told I wouldn’t receive my new transmission for 1 to 2 months. I contacted Hyundai corporate and pushed to get my car back. I was told they would expedite my transmission and was told to pick up the car on 8/30. I went to pick up the car and immediately noticed that the steering wheel sounded like it was being sandpapered every time I turned. My car steering wheel turned smoothly prior to the whole transmission change. I literally made a circle around the service center and turned my car in back for repair. I was told to leave my car at the Hyundai dealership and they would get back to me. My car is still in repair. Email several times.

On August 4th 2023 we drove from home in Cedar Rapids to our daughter’s in Cottage Grove Wisconsin for a family event. Nearing Madison, somewhere in the area of Verona the Battery Warning Symbol came on in the instrument display. It was intermittent and we continued our journey to our daughter’s house in Cottage Grove. We called AAA and a “tow” truck came. The driver made a visual assessment of the condition of the battery and terminals and serpentine belt and looked at our multimeter readings of battery voltage. The alternator did cut in and the battery voltage went up. He advised that we continue driving it. It made a couple of two-mile trips to and from our hotel in Cottage Grove, with no display of the battery warning icon on the instrument display. On Sunday August 6 2023 we set off for home. The battery icon was not displayed. About 15 miles from departure while we were on the Madison Beltline Highway the following occurred without warning: •The central navigation display went blank •A number of different warnings came up on the instrument display •Power steering was lost •The emergency warning flashers and the direction indicators wouldn’t work •A lot of warning icons were displayed on the instrument display This was absolutely unacceptable and life shorteningly frightening. I won’t use curse words or s**t here but use your imagination. We were able to get to the hard shoulder without crashing. Surprisingly the engine was still running and we were very close to an exit (Fish Hatchery Road) so we were able to limp and wrestle it to a business’ parking area.

Hyndai recalled our vehicle for a tow hitch wiring problem last year. Instead of resolving the issue, they simply pulled the fuse and told us that we cannot tow with lights until they resolve the recall. My understanding is that this recall has been on the books for over a year now. This is extremely frustrating as I am not able to use the tow capability that I paid for when purchasing this vehicle and according to the dealer, no fix has been provided. How do I complain? How do I get something done here? Thank you.

I was driving in the highway in fairly heavy rain. My lane departure system went offline first. Next my forward collision went offline. Shortly after that my check engine light came on and the vehicle started shaking. I stopped under a bridge and waited for the rain to slow. I turned the car off and on, but the issues remained. I was forced to drive 10 miles, at 30 mph, on the highway, with hazards on, to a hotel. This caused an unnecessary unsafe situation. The next day, I took to the dealer. The car ran fine. They reset the codes and said it was likely water getting into the cylinders causing 4 and 6 to fail. I really dont feel a car should do this from driving in the rain. This also caused me an unnecessary hotel stay.

The sunroof exploded and shattered while driving on the highway. It was very loud and startling and could have caused us to get in a wreck as it sounded like a gun went off. There were no warnings whatsoever. It is at the dealership now and has been confirmed.

So I have to remove and replace a trailer harness fuse everytime I need to use my hitch to avoid a fire and potentially losing my house since my garage is attached. When paying $50K on a car you should not have to part outside away from you house for this long extended period because the manufacturer can't figure out what the fix is. Also the wiper motor recall-would think this would be an easier fix-yet nothing resolved on that either after several months of notices and waiting. Someone needs to press Hyundai to get on it!!!!!

From driver: "While traveling westbound on John Lynch St, I approached the left turn lane heading southbound on Valley St. I engaged the brakes and began navigating the left turn at approx. 30 MPH. While turning, the vehicle's "Lane Assist" engaged preventing me from completing the turn. Halfway into the turn, the vehicle continued westbound, hopped the curb, and collided with a stationary road sign that was not in use. I continued through the intersection and pulled off the roadway." Follow-on questions: 1) How fast was the customer traveling when they were actively turning? A. 30 MPH, which I am assuming was the approach speed. To the best of the vehicle operator's recollection, the approach speed was appropriately 40-45 MPH, with an active turn speed of 30 MPH. 2) What was the recent usage of the vehicle before the incident? Was it used that day? How long had the vehicle been driving before the incident? A. The vehicle was driven, by the same driver, approximately 12 miles to work the morning of the accident. Prior to the accident, the vehicle was driven around the same city as the accident for approximately two hours. 3) Did any vehicle operator notice anything wrong or unusual about the vehicle prior to the incident? A. Vehicle operator observed that the Lane Assist Dash Board Icon was blinking on and off throughout the course of a few hours prior to the accident. Vehicle operator attempted to disable the Lane Assist feature by both pressing and holding the Lane Assist Button located inside of the vehicle. 4) Any after-market equipment installed? A. Vehicle was equipped with both Law Enforcement Lights and Law Enforcement Siren. 5) Any upfits? A. The vehicle did not have up-fits. 6) Will the customer agency consent to the OEM (or NHTSA) retrieving information from the vehicle's Event Data Recorder? A. Yes.

On 11/9/2021, warning lights appeared on the dash - Forward Collision, ABS, and Auto Hold and I felt a slight skipping when breaking after that. We took it to the dealership, they informed that it was a wheel sensor and nothing to worry about, however, they didn't have the replacement sensor and would have to order it but said the vehicle was safe to drive. I asked my husband to confirm that the vehicle was safe to drive as by this point the skipping in the breaks continued on occasion, accompanied by a slight skipping noise. The dealer confirmed the vehicle was safe to drive. I continued to feel and hear a skipping when breaking on occasion. While driving on 11/22/21, I was approaching a red light with one car in front of me. I attempted to slow down and my breaks were skipping heavily and then the breaks became hard to depress. I was pressing the breaks heavily and the vehicle wouldn't stop. Fearful that I was going to hit the car in front of me with just a few inches between us, I swerved into the other lane (same direction) without noticing that there was a car approaching behind me in that lane. If felt like my wheels weren't spinning as I slid onto the side of the highway. Thankfully, the car behind me was able to come to a stop - also within inches - without an accident occurring. I pulled into a parking lot and contacted my husband, who contacted the dealer. The dealer had my car towed back to the dealership. Upon dealer inspection, they insisted there is nothing wrong with breaks and said there was "failure to replicate" the incident. They again informed it is just the wheel sensor and that the breaks are fine. I am fearful to drive the vehicle after the last incident.
