I HAVE A CONCERN WITH THE TRANSMISSION'S ON THE MAZDA 626 TRANSMISSION STYLE CD4E. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE (INTERNET SEARCHED) WHO HAVE THESE VEHICLES AND HAVE BEEN PLACED IN DIRE STRAITS AS I AM. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH AND FROM OUT OF NOWHERE, MY OD STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND LEFT THE CAR'S TRANNY SLIPPING OUT OF 4TH GEAR SEARCHING FOR A LOWER GEAR AS IT THREW THE FLASHING "OD LIGHT OFF" INDICATOR LIGHT. I HAD A WOMAN SWERVE BEHIND ME AS I HAD TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND TRYING TO GET MY CAR TO GRASP ANY GEAR. ONCE I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOPPED, THE OD LIGHT STOPPED FLASHING AND MY VEHICLE WAS LEFT IN A "LIMP HOME" MODE WHERE I COULD NOT GET OVER 45MPH. I HAD THE TRANNY REBUILT TO THE TUNE OF 1500.00 AND GUESS WHAT? I GOT INTO THE CAR TO DO HIGHWAY TRAVEL ONE WEEK LATER, AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAVE READ THAT I AM BY FAR THE ONLY PERSON THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. THIS IS A 2000 MODEL. MY BROTHER BOUGHT IT IN 2002. HE HAS MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE FOR THE LAST 7.5 YEARS AND I HAVE HAD IT FOR 6 MONTHS NOW. THE MILES ARE 76K, ONLY! SOMEONE NEEDS TO HAVE MAZDA FIX THIS ISSUE. THIS IS REDICULOUS AND THIE IS BY FAR A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. THE SURGING AND SEARCHING THE 4TH GEAR DOES IS VERY HARD, JERKY AND SURGING. ANYONE RIGHT ON YOUR BUTT IN TRAFFIC IS GOING TO SLAM INTO ONE OF THESE VEHICLES. THERE IS ALSO A TSB FOR THIS AS WELL......BUT MAZDA HAS OFFERED NO AMENDS TO THIS SITUAUTION WHEN I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE. THEY SAID THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THIS SITUATION. THAT IS SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE.

WE HAVE MAZDA 626 4CYL, 2000 YR., AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION IN OUR MAZDA ALWAYS HESITATES TO SHIFT UP AND REVS UP TO VERY HIGH RPMS EVENTHOUGH THE ACCELERATION IS GRADUAL. THERE IS ALSO QUITE A BIT OF NOISE IN THE CAR COMING FROM ENGINE WHEN I AM MERGING ON A FREEWAY. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE STUCK IN A LOWER GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER IN 2002. HOWEVER, THE SAME PROBLEM REMAINS TO THIS DAY. SOMETIMES, WHEN THE CAR IS COLD, JUST WHEN YOU START IT IN THE MORNING, FOR EXAMPLE, THE CAR ACCELERATES SUDDENLY AND I ALMOST HIT MY OTHER CAR IN A GARAGE. *TR

I HAVE A 2000 MAZDA 626 AND THE TRANSMISSION IS HORRIBLE. WELL, WAS BECAUSE I HAD TO REPLACE IT. INSTEAD OF MY CAR GOING IN REVERSE WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE IT WENT FORWARD. MY OVERDRIVE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND BLINKING AND THE CODE WAS ALWAYS THE TEMPERATURE HIGH DUE TO HIGHWAY DRIVING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 MAZDA 626. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NOTICED A GAS SMELL ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHILE. IN ADDITION, SHE ONLY NOTICED THE FUMES AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE NUMEROUS TIMES HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. AS OF FEBRUARY 22, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,000.

SUDDENLY THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE WENT HIGH EASILY WHEN DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON WITH DTC(DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES) P0125 ERROR(TEMP. INSUFFICIENR FOR CLOSED LOOP FULE CONTROL, THE COOLANT). THE DEALERS CHECKED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND FOUND THAT THE COOLANT OVERFLOW BOTTLE WAS LEAKING. HAD TO REPLACE IT.

VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. DURING ONE INCIDENT VEHICLE REFUSED TO START, AND LEAKED ALL TRANSMISSION FLUID ON FLATBED TRUCK. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN JANUARY OF 2004 WITH 36,000 MILES ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED SHIFTING INTO 1ST AND 2ND GEARS. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IN FEB OF 2005 WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION BY THE DEALER. RECENTLY THE CAR HAD THE O/D LIGHT FLASH AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. IT WILL NOT ENGAGE IN REVERSE. WITH 85,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION NOW NEEDS TO BE REBUILT AGAIN AFTER LESS THAN 3 YEARS. *TR

THIS IS ACTUALLY THE SECOND FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED IN EARLY 2003 WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER THE 3 YEAR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY (IT HAD ABOUT 33,000 MILES ON IT). THE PROBLEM WAS THE ONE OUTLINED IN THE MAZDA TSB # 0500502. I HAD THE FLUID COOLER INSTALLED AT THAT TIME AS WELL AS A REPLACEMENT FACTORY REFURBISHED FORD/MAZDA TRANSMISSION (THE DEALERSHIP SOLUTION). I WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME THAT THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY MORE PROBLEMS FOR THE LIFE OF THE (NEW) TRANSMISSION, WHICH I TOOK TO MEAN THAT IT WOULD LAST ABOUT 100-120,000 MILES. WELL, HERE I AM, LESS THAN 50,000 MILES LATER AND THE TRANSMISSION HAD A MAJOR FAILURE. WITHOUT WARNING, THE CAR BEGAN TO MAKE A SOUND I CAN ONLY LIKEN TO TIN CANS IN A TUMBLER. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF TRANSMISSION FLUID ON THE GROUND. A GOOD MECHANIC WILL REBUILD IT FOR $2800. THAT IS MORE THAN HALF THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE (~$5000). THIS DEFECT IS APPARENTLY MUCH MORE THAN A SIMPLE MATTER OF KEEPING THE TRANSMISSION COOL, IT IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS THE MECHANICALS OF THE TRANSMISSION AND HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH THE OPERATING TEMPERATURE OF THE FLUID. SINCE THE WARRANTY ON THE CAR HAS EXPIRED, AS WELL AS THE WARRANTY ON THE WORK THE DEALERSHIP DID 3 YEARS AGO TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM INITIALLY, I AM STUCK WITH A HUGE REPAIR BILL AND NO DESIRE TO OWN THE CAR. THE SIDEWALL FAILED. THERE WAS A LARGE TEAR, WHICH DEVELOPED SUDDENLY AT A LOW SPEED. THERE DIDN'T APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN ANY OBJECT THAT STRUCK THE TIRE OR CAME IN CONTACT WITH IT. THERE WAS NO PUNCTURE ON THE SURFACE THAT CONTACTS THE ROAD, JUST A LONG "CRACK" UP THE SIDE. THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE 40'S AND THERE HAD BEEN LIGHT RAIN. I HAD ONLY DRIVEN ROUGHLY 4 MILES AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT WAS ABOUT A MILE AWAY FROM INTERSTATE 77 WHERE I WOULD HAVE BEEN GOING FASTER IN TRAFFIC. I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT THERE WERE NO CONSEQUENCES OF THE TIRE'S FAILURE BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION IN WHICH IT FAILED. THE SIDEWALL CRACK EXTENDED DOWN TO ONE OF THE INDENTATIONS IN THE TREAD, WHICH APPEARED TO STILL BE INTACT. THE TIRE SHOWED NO SIGN OF SIGNIFICANT WEAR. THESE VEHICLES HAVE ON NUMEROUS OCCASSIONS BLINDED ME WHILE DRIVING; THE XENON LAMPS FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND THE TRUCKS FROM BEHIND. THE XENON LAMPS ARE TOO BRIGHT FOR AN OPPOSSING DRIVER TO SEE PAST AT NIGHT; FREQUENTLY, IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT THEY ARE AS BRIGHT OR EVEN BRIGHTER THAN HIGH BEAMS OF MOST NORMAL LAMPS. A FEW WEEKS AGO MY 2000 MAZDA 626 WAS BUCKING IN REVERSE, THEN IT WOULD START DOING THE SAME THING IN DRIVE IF I WAS STOPPED. I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION PLACE AND THEY HAD TO REBUILD MY TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS A CODE COMING UP ABOUT THE PARK NEUTRAL SWITH THAT IT WASN'T GETTING ANY POWER AND MADE THE TALL CONVERTER GO AND WHEN THAT HAPPENED IT RUINED MY TRANSMISSION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL REMAINED ON MY CAR WAS THEN SENT TO A MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE IT STILL IS NOW AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. D&M AUTOBROKERS SOLD ME A "DEATH TRAP" VEHICLE THAT COULD NOT PASS DEQ EMISSIONS TESTING. MULTIPLE THINGS KEPT GOING WRONG, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO FIX THE ISSUES. EVENTUALLY, ALL THE ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AND THE NUMEROUS LIES I WAS BEING FED WERE TOO OVERWHELMING, I GAVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND MADE A DEAL WITH GOLD ACCEPTANCE FINANCE COMPANY AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP D&M AUTOBROKERS FOR D&M AUTOBROKERS TO PURCHASE THE LOAN BACK FROM GOLD ACCEPTANCE AND PAY IT OFF IN FULL. THIS AGREEMENT WAS WRITTEN AND SIGNED AS WELL AS A VERBAL AGREEMENT AND UNDERSTANDING. THE DEALERSHIP MADE ONE PAYMENT THAT INITIALLY PAID OFF HALF OF THE BALANCE OF THE LOAN, AND THEN DECIDED TO NOT PAY THE LOAN OFF IN FULL AT ALL, OR SEND A SINGLE PAYMENT. MY CREDIT IS NOW IN THE DANGER ZONE, THEY STILL HAVE AT LEAST $3000 OWED ON THE LOAN, AND THEY ARE NOW CLAIMING THEIR OUT OF BUSINESS. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO ALL THE CREDIT BUREAU'S AS WELL AS THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. GOLD ACCEPTANCE HAS BEEN SO WONDERFUL IN LEADING ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AS WELL AS PROVIDING HELP TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. I DO NEED THIS COMPLAINT TO GO THROUGH. I PURCHASED A 2000 MAZDA 626 USED IN 2001. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIRS TO THE CINCINNATI JAKE SWEENY MAZDA SHOP TO ADDRESS THE SHAKING AND NOISES THAT I WAS HEARING FROM THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE. EVERY TIME I AM ON THE ROAD FOR MORE THAN 45 MINUTES, THE ENGINE HEATS UP TO THE POINT THAT IT BOILS THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH OVERFLOWS ONTO THE REST OF THE ENGINE. AFTER APPROX. 15 MORE MINUTES, THE O/D OFF LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH & MY CAR STARTS TO RESIST SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH. THE RPMS INCREASE WHEN THE LIGHT FLASHES & THERE'S A DANGEROUS DELAY IN MY ABILITY TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN AS THE CAR LURCHES. ON JUNE 19, 2006, I TOOK THE MAZDA TO AN IMPORTS SPECIALIST WHO INFORMED ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION WILL SOON FAIL. A NEW TRANSMISSION COSTS APPROX. $2800 & A USED ONE COSTS APPROX. $1800. HOWEVER, THE TRANSMISSIONS THAT FIT MY CAR ARE THE SAME TYPE OF TRANSMISSION THAT WAS INITIALLY PUT IN MY ENGINE & WILL FAIL AFTER ANOTHER 70,000 MILES DUE TO ITS BEING TOO SMALL FOR THE 626. PUTTING AN "EXTERNAL COOLING SYSTEM" UNDER THE HOOD IS APPROXIMATELY $300 & IS A TEMPORARY BANDAID FOR THE ISSUE WHICH WILL STILL OCCUR. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH & FOUND THOUSANDS OF DOCUMENTS THAT HAVE STATED THAT ALL AUTOMATIC MAZDA 626 LS VEHICLES FROM 1994-2000 HAVE ENGINES THAT WERE MADE FOR A SMALLER CAR & ARE THEREFORE TOO SMALL FOR THE 626 LS. ACCORDING TO SAID RESEARCH ALL 1994-2000 626 LS VEHICLES HAVE TRANSMISSIONS THAT WILL FAIL BETWEEN APPROX. 70-80,000 MILES. MY CAR HAS 74,400 MILES AT THE DATE OF THIS COMPLAINT. MAZDA REFUSES TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS SITUATION, YET IT HAS BECOME COMMON KNOWLEDGE AMONG CAR DEALERSHIPS, SO THE VALUE OF MY CAR HAS DROPPED DRAMATICALLY & IT HAS BECOME DIFFICULT FOR ME TO SELL. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR IS LOCKED AND CANNOT BE UNLOCKED. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE BRAKE PADS MUST BE REPLACED EVERY 6-8 MONTHS, BECAUSE THE BRAKES DO NOT PROPERLY STOP THE VEHICLE, THERE IS A LOUD NOISE, AND THE BRAKES CAN BE FELT GRINDING WHEN APPLIED. THERE HAVE BEEN NO OTHER ATTEMPTED REPAIRS TO THE BRAKES.

2000 MAZDA 626 LX 4 CYL. ON MARCH 1ST 2006, MY SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO WHILE DRIVING AT A CONTINUOUS SPEED (45 MPH) THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A HALF HOUR PERIOD BEFORE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ON MARCH 2ND, I DROVE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED THAT THE SPEED SENSOR WAS BAD. HOWEVER, THEY ALSO RELATED THAT THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. THE DEALERSHIP PROCEEDED WITH A SEARCH OF THE WIRING IN ORDER TO DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THIS WAS DONE AT AN HOURLY RATE OF $85.00 AN HOUR. ON MARCH 6TH, A BROKEN WIRE WAS FOUND AT THE FIREWALL. IT TOOK THEM 7.5 HOURS TO MAKE THIS DETERMINATION. ON MARCH 11TH, WHILE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, MY O/D LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING OFF AND ON CONTINUOUSLY. IT ALSO BEGAN BUCKING AND JERKING AND WOULD SLIP IN AND OUT OF GEARS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED WITH THIS CAR. I JUST HIT 95,000 MILES AND I PURCHASED IT NEW IN MAY 2000. *NM
