HAD TO REPLACE THE A/C COMPRESSOR THAT WENT BAD, WAS A RECALL ON THEM BUT MY WARRANTY WAS OUT. THEN NOW 11/8/13 I AM BEING TOLD THAT MY EGR VALVE IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT SO HAPPENS GUESS WHAT THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY HAS RAN OUT. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 25MPH WHEN I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. I PULLED OVER AND POPPED THE HOOD AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE AC COMPRESSOR. IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS COMMON FOR THIS MODEL. MAZDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT OF COURSE MINE EXPIRED THIS YEAR. IT'S JUST A SHAME THAT MY CAR HAS LESS THEN 40K MILES AND MAZDA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS AN INFERIOR PART, BUT WONT HELP COVER THE COST. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS PART FAILING AND BREAKING THE SERPENTINE BELT CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE ALL POWER. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE A RECALL. AIR CONDITIONING BEGAN BLOWING HOT AIR. MANY COMPLAINTS LOGGED ONLINE FOR THIS YEAR VEHICLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE. RECOMMENDATION WAS TO CONTACT MAZDA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. THEY PROVIDED A FILE NUMBER AND INFORMED I NEEDED TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRM THE ISSUE WAS THE COMPRESSOR. THE DEALERSHIP DID CONFIRM THE COMPRESSOR AND BELT NEED REPLACED. CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NUMBER BACK AND THE APPEAL/COMPLAIN PROCESS BEGAN TO SEE IF THEY WOULD PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN REPLACING THE COMPRESSOR AND BELT SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED AND ONLY HAS 28,000 MILES. WAS INFORMED 2 DAYS LATER THAT THE DECISION WAS THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE IT IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. VERY DISCOURAGED THAT A CORPORATION WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEY VEHICLE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES AND THE FACT THAT THEY KNOW THIS VEHICLE HAS THESE ISSUES. THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ON MY 2008 MAZDA CX-7 CRACKED, CAUSING THE PULLEY ASSEMBLY TO FREEZE UP. AS A RESULT, THE PULLEY NO LONGER TURNED ON THE SERPENTINE BELT AND MADE A LOUD NOISE, AND THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO WORK. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT TO THE NEAREST MAZDA DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR, OUT OF CONCERN THAT DAMAGE TO THE BELT MIGHT OCCUR. IN REVIEWING MY FILES LATER, I FOUND AN AUGUST 2010 NOTICE FROM MAZDA ADVISING ME THAT THE MODEL YEAR OF MY CAR MIGHT HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND THAT THE WARRANTY COVERAGE WOULD BE EXTENDED TO 5 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. IT FURTHER STATED THAT NO ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN UNLESS I WAS EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH THIS COMPONENT OF MY CAR, WHICH I WASN'T AT THAT TIME. UNFORTUNATELY, MY PROBLEM DID NOT EMERGE UNTIL NOW, AND IS NOT COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION SINCE I NOW HAVE 75000 MILES ON MY CAR. HOWEVER, AIR CONDITIONER UNITS NORMALLY DO NOT FAIL ON CARS OF THIS AGE AND THE NOTICE FROM MAZDA MAKES IT CLEAR THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX7. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER SPOUSE DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR REPAIRS NOR WAS IT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO ASSISTANCE PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.

AFTER BRINGING TO MAZDA FOR TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL, AND LOWER ROCKER ARMS RECALL, I WAS TOLD MY TIMING CHAIN SHOULD BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1300 PLUS TAX!!! A MAZDA TECH. SAID HE KNEW FOR SURE THAT WAS THE ISSUE JUST FROM LISTENING TO THE NOISE. MY HOW KNOWLEDGEABLE FOR A GUESS. I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS, AND SEE THAT A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS FILED IN 2012 REGARDING THIS ISSUE, AND IT WENT NO FURTHER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I CAN GET FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND IF MAZDA WILL PICK UP THIS BILL. I SEE A HUGE AMOUNT OF FOLKS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THE VVT ALSO, AND MAZDA HAS DONE NOTHING. I WOULD LIKE TO PURSUE THIS ISSUE FURTHER. CAN YOU HELP, OR DIRECT ME ON HOW TO DO SO? I HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF THIS VEHICLE THAT I HAVE HAD FROM NEW AND NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN IT NEEDS A $1300 PLUS REPAIR? I WANT TO IMPLORE YOU TO MAKE MAZDA RECALL THIS MAKE/MODEL, WITH THEM KNOWING THEY HAVE A FAULTY VVT/TIMING CHAIN ISSUE, THAT HAS AFFECTED HUNDREDS,IF NOT THOUSANDS OF CAR OWNERS, PUTTING THEIR SAFETY AT RISK. I HAVE NOT MYSELF, HAD THE ISSUES YET, THAT ARE WELL DOCUMENTED,BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DID PURCHASE THIS CAR, AND IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT MAZDA WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM.

TAKATA RECALL. WHEN REPLACING THE AIRBAG THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. WHEN TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR SECOND AIRBAG REPLACEMENT THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE LIGHT HAD COME ON. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A COINCIDENCE AND HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THEY HAD JUST WORKED ON THE SYSTEM. I WONDER IF THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE AND WHAT IS THE FAIL RATE OF THE SEAT SENSOR AT THE TIME OF WORK BEING DONE OR IF THIS IS A WAY TO RECOUP MONEY FOR THE SERVICE.

I HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION I KNOW THE MAZDA CX 7 HAS A RECALL BEFORE I BUY THIS CAR, HOW I CAN FIND MORE INFORMATION IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER FIXES THE PROBLEM AND ATTEND THE SUSPENSION RECALL ISSUE. MY CX-7 WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE BALL JOINT RECALL. THE BALL JOINT HAD FAILED PRIOR TO GETTING THE BALL JOINT REPLACED. AS A RESULT THERE WERE A LOT MORE REPAIRS THAT WERE REQUIRED. IT HAS BEEN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR SINCE THE BALL JOINTS WERE REPAIRED. REPAIR DATE WAS 1/25/2017. ACCORDING TO MORRIE'S CHIPPEWA VALLEY MAZDA IN LAKE HALLIE, WI, MY LEFT BALL JOINT IS ALREADY LOOSE. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS RECALL WAS TO ADDRESS THE BALL JOINTS FAILING PREMATURELY. IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED MORE THAN A YEAR. MAZDA SAYS THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE RECALL REPLACEMENT. BOUGHT THE CAR JULY 30 2016. LEFT FRONT CONTROL ARM BROKE CAUSING LOST STEERING AND ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE CAR. HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AT A SHOP JULY 20 2017. GOT A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE SEPT 2017. JUST HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AS PER THE RECALL 08/09/2018 BUT NOW MAZDA DOES NOT WANT TO REIMBURSE FOR THE PRIOR REPAIRS MADE SINCE IT WAS AFTER THE AUGUST 10 2016 DATE ON THE RECALL AND CAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE BANK STATEMENT FROM BACK THEN SHOWING IT WAS PAID ON MY VISA. I SENT THEM THE INVOICE FROM THE GARAGE THAT IS CLEARLY MARKED PAID VISA. THE BREAKAGE HAPPENED ON THE STREET I LIVE ON, WIFE AND I WERE ON OUR WAY TO MEET WITH FAMILY FOR SUPPER. THE CAR WAS JUST DRIVEN HOME BY MYSELF FROM WORK ON A 65MPH 4 LANE HIGHWAY LESS THEN A HOUR PRIOR, THANK GOD IT DIDN'T BREAK AT THOSE SPEEDS. THE ROAD MAKES A SLIGHT TURN TO THE RIGHT WHEN I HEARD A BANG AND THE LEFT FRONT CORNER OF THE CAR DROPPED. ONCE I SAFELY GOT THE CAR STOPPED WITH STEERING FOUND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE AT A 90 DEGREE ANGEL WITH THE FENDER ON TOP OF IT. DRIVE SHAFT WAS TORN OUT FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND TIE RODS WERE BENT.

HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM. INSIDE HOUSING FOR HEADLIGHTS IS MELTED FROM OVERHEATING, MAKING HEADLIGHTS INEFFECTIVE. DRIVING AT NIGHT IS NOT SAFE AND DOWN RIGHT DANGEROUS. VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR ALL YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE.

IN NOVEMBER OF 2016 MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. WENT TO PURCHASE A $100 BULB AND WHEN THE MECHANIC WENT TO REPLACE IT HE ADVISED THE BULB COULD NOT BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE HOUSING TO HOLD THE BULB WAS MELTED. HE ADVISED THIS IS ABNORMAL FOR THE HOUSING TO MELT AND MOST VEHICLES WOULD NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, HE ADVISED HE HAS SEEN THIS HAPPEN A LOT WITH CX-7 VEHICLES. HE SUGGESTED THAT I REACH OUT TO MAZDA FOR ASSISTANCE SINCE THIS, HE FELT, WAS A DEFECT OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. I CALLED MAZDA FILED THE COMPLAINT HOWEVER THE REP SET EXPECTATIONS FOR A CALL BACK THAT I NEVER RECEIVED. FAST FORWARD, THE LEFT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IS DOING THE SAME. I CALLED MAZDA AND SPOKE WITH CHRISTOPHER AND HE SAID MAZDA COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME BECAUSE THEY APPARENTLY SENT ME AN E-CERTIFICATE LAST NOVEMBER WHEN I CALLED IN ABOUT THE RIGHT SIDE ASSEMBLY. I ADVISED HIM THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE IT AND EMAILED IT TO ME AGAIN. I ASKED HIM WHAT ASSISTANCE COULD BE PROVIDED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RIGHT SIDE ASSEMBLY AND HE ADVISED THERE WASN'T ANY. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN ABOUT THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE I COULD NOT SIMPLY JUST REPLACE THE BULB, THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY FOR BOTH SIDES NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED. I THEN SPOKE WITH THOM AND HE ALSO DENIED ASSISTANCE. I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNFAIR. THE HOUSING WHICH HOLDS THE BULB MELTING IN BOTH ASSEMBLIES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE'S DEFECT AND I THINK MAZDA SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THERE IS NOTHING I COULD'VE DONE TO PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING. I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE VEHICLES OLDER THAN MINE AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. WHAT ARE MY RECOURSES AT THIS POINT? THIS IS VERY UNFAIR. TO OFFER $300.00 ON A PART THAT COST $2000.00 (BOTH SIDES) IS NOT REASONABLE. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. NO LIGHTS.

THE OEM BULBS IN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE TOO HOT AND AFTER SOME TIME THE BULBS BURN THROUGH THE PLASTIC, CAUSING THE BRAKE LENSES TO GET CLOUDY, THE PLASTIC TO MELT ONTO THE BULB, AND THE RED TINT TO FADE IN THE BRAKE LIGHTS. MY CAR IS LIKE THIS AND EVERY 2008 CX-7 I'VE SEEN HAS THE SAME THING - CLOUDY AND BURNED BRAKE LENSES FROM THE BULBS BURNING A HOLE IN THE BRAKE LENSE PLASTIC.

MAZDA ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THE A/C COMPRESSOR BECAUSE OF A KNOWN PROBLEM. MY COMPRESSOR BROKE AFTER THIS EXTENSION. IT CREATED A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE CLUTCH BROKE OFF OF THE COMPRESSOR CAUSE SPARKS TO FLY FROM THE LOOSE RUBBING METAL. SPARKS WERE NOT CAUSED FROM ELECTRIC ARC. WHEN THE CLUTCH ORIGINALLY SEIZED THE ENGINE / COMPRESSOR BEGAN TO SMOKE. I TURNED OFF THE AC AND DROVE HOME. UPON DRIVING THE CAR TO TO THE REPAIR SHOP WITH THE AC OFF, THE CLUTCH SEPARATED AND BEGAN SPARKING. THIS CLUTCH COULD HAVE SEPARATED AND SHOT LIKE A PROJECTILE. AC COMPRESSOR BROKE WHILE ON HIGHWAY. I HAVE THE OLD PART SHOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IT.

WE BOUGHT THIS CAR ON FEBRUARY 19, 2011 WITH AROUND 26,000 MILES ON IT. ON JANUARY 30, 2012 (AROUND 36,000 MILES) THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. WE TOOK IT TO OUR MECHANIC TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND IT CAME BACK THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS BAD. WE HAD THAT REPLACED, BUT IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THAT MECHANIC TOLD US WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A MAZDA DEALER AND THAT IF IT WAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE POWERTRAIN, IT SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY. WE WERE HAPPY TO HEAR THAT INDEED IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THAT MAZDA MOST LIKELY WOULD COVER ALL COSTS. A DAY LATER THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL US THAT MAZDA NEEDED TO SEE PROOF OF MAINTENANCE ON THE OIL CHANGES, AS THERE WAS A "SLUDGE BUILDUP." WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED AS REQUIRED, BUT WERE TOLD THAT MAZDA MAY NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AFTER ALL...SEEMS IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU DID EVERYTHING RIGHT OR NOT, MAZDA SEEMS TO BE DENYING THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. WE ARE STILL WAITING TO HEAR IF THIS WILL BE COVERED, AND HAVE BEEN DOING LOTS OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE. ALWAS NEED TO ADD OIL IN BETWEEN CHANGES THOUGH NO LEAK FOUND. WAS TOLD BY MAZDA SERVICE WITHIN FIRST 6 MONTHS OF OWNING THIS VEHICLES THAT THE TURBO GETS EXTREMELY HOT AND BURNS OFF OIL. JUST BEFORE MILEAGE STATED ABOVE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND ENGINE LOST POWER. NO OTHER INDICATIONS LEADING UP TO THIS. HANDHELDOBCD-II COMPUTER CHECK SHOWED CODE P0101 (MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR). CHECKED CX-7 ON-LINE FORUMS AND IN LESS THAN 1/2 AN HOUR FOUND OVER 25 COMPLAINTS (STOPPED SEARCHING AT THIS POINT) WITH SAME PROBLEM I HAVE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE OUTCOMES WERE SCARY. AS PER SEVERAL FORUMS, MAZDA TELLS CUSTOMERS, AS I WAS ALSO TOLD, THAT THE TURBO AND BEARINGS BAD, SAID SLUDGE IN ENGINE BREACHES WARRANTY DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE PROOF AND DENIES TO HONOR WARRANTY. SAY CAR NEEDS A REBUILT OR NEW ENGINE AND TURBO INSTALLED AND I MUST PAY $7K - $9K FOR A REBUILT ENGINE. NOW OWE OVER $18K ON A CAR THAT SHOULD HAVE A RECALL DONE ON IT FOR THIS PROBLEM. SPOKE WIH MAZDA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AD THEY TOLD ME THAT THE DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER'S (DSM) DECISION IS FINAL, AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME. I PURCHASED MY 2008 MAZDA CX7 NEW FROM JAKE SWEENEY MAZDA IN CINTI, OH. I HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT UNTIL THIS INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING FOR WORK FROM CINTI, OH TO CLARKSBURG, WV. 20 MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE, THE AC WENT OUT. THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF A BELT BURNING. I TURNED THE AIR OFF, PUT THE WINDOWS DOWN AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE WITHOUT AC. THREE HOURS LATER, THE CAR STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND GET IT STARTED AGAIN. I CALLED MAZDA AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF THE 5 YR/60,000 MILE WARRANTY SINCE THE CAR HAS 79,000 MILES ON IT. I COULD PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST MAZDA DEALERSHIP AND HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC DONE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD CONSIDER HONORING THE WARRANTY. THIS WOULD NOT BE APPLIED TO ANY NEEDED REPAIRS. I OPTED TO LEAVE IT AT THE REPAIR SHOP. THEY ARE ORDERING THE PART WHICH WILL TAKE A WEEK TO GET. I HAD TO RENT A CAR TO GET BACK HOME AND WILL HAVE TO DRIVE BACK TO WV TO GET MY CAR. ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 I WAS DRIVING AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY AND WE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE AC PRESSURE DROPPED, HOT AIR WAS FLOWING OUT OF THE AC AND WE SMELLED BURNING SMOKE. THE OIL LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT ON MY CAR CAME ON THE EVENING OF JUNE 8, 2010, AND STALLED IMMEDIATELY. THAT NIGHT I POURED 5 QUARTS OF OIL INTO MY ENGINE. THE FAULT WAS EVENTUALLY DISCOVERED TO BE A MISSING GASKET AT THE OIL FILTER CAP WHICH ALLOWED OIL TO SEEP OUT OF THE CAR NONSTOP SINCE MY LAST OIL CHANGE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE OIL LIGHT ONLY CAME ON AFTER THERE WAS VIRTUALLY NO OIL LEFT IN THE CAR. FYI, THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AT ALMOST 40,000 MILES AND RIGHT NOW IS 62000MILES. RIGHT NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP WHICH MAY OUT OF CONTROL WHEN IT MAKES TURN. I READ ANTICLE SAY THAT MAZDA WILL RECALL CX 7 INCLUDING YEAR 2008. WHEN I CALL THEM TODAY THEY SAID NO SUCH KIND OF RECALL. THERE WAS A KNOCKING ALMOST AS IF THE CAR WAS A DIESEL, BROUGHT THE CAR TO MILFORD MAZDA IN MILFORD CT AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE A MONTH EARLIER AT BOBS IN MILFORD CT. THE MAZDA DEALER REPLACED THE VVT DECEMBER 2012 THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND I TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY GET A CODE FOR CAMSHAFT, I BRING THE CAR TO MAZDA WHO TELLS ME UPON ARRIVAL WITH OUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND IT WOULDN'T BE COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY ARE SURE THERE IS SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE, YEA SAME STORY EVERYONE ELSE GETS. I FAITHFULLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED EVERY 5,0000 MILES MAX AS THIS WAS DRILLED IN MY HEAD GROWING UP FROM MY DAD. TAKATA RECALL AND HORN AND PASSENGER DOOR LOCK. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE SUSPENSION RECALL AND AIR BAGS TO GALPIN IN VAN NUYS CA. IVE REPLACED MOTOR MOUNTS, COOLANT/OIL PARTS, AIR COMPRESSOR, HEADLIGHTS, BUMBER, WIPER BLADES, ELECTRICAL CONTROL PANELS, ROCKER ARMS, SPOILERS THAT HAVE CRACKED WITH WEATHER, THE CAR STILL NEEDS ANOTHER MOTOR MOUNT, I NOW HAVE A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE LIKE ITS THE LIFTERS AND I STILL HAVE ANOTHER YEAR ON THIS 5 YEAR LOAN ON THIS CAR. I HAVE TO KEEP ROLLING PAYMENTS TO THE BACK OF THE LOAN TO KEEP UP WITH THE REPAIRS. ITS VERY FRUSTRATING. IVE NEVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY CAR I HAVE PURCHASED EVER!!! THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING AIR BAGS. WE HAVE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OVER THE YEARS TO GET ANY OF THESE DONE WITH ZERO SUCCESS. THE DEALERSHIP JUST KEEPS TELLING US TO COME BACK. OUR AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OUT ALL THE TIME. THE LIGHTS FILL WITH WATER AFTER WASHING OR IF IT RAIN CAUSING THE HEADLIGHTS TO SHORT OUT AND BLOW THE BULBS. THE ENGINE RATTLES EVERYTIME YOU CRANK THE CAR AND THEN GOES AWAY. MAZDA CX-7 RECALL 9716H. RCVD RECALL NOTICE IN 10/2016 BUT NO FURTHER NOTICES & TOLD IN NOTICE THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO CORRECT THE DANGEROUS RECALL. HAD NO IDEA HOW DISASTROUS THIS PROBLEM COULD BE. DRIVING MY CX-7 ON OLD WILLETS PATH, SMITHTOWN, NY ON 2/3/17 @ APPROX. 6:30PM WITH MY 4 CHILDREN IN THE CAR, TRAVELING LESS THAN 35 MPH WHEN THE RIGHT WHEEL CAME OFF THE AXLE OF THE CAR. THE WHEEL WAS THE RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR. THE CAR THEN BEGAN TO TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS A RESULT OF LOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR. CARS HAD TO MOVE OUT OF MY WAY AS IT WAS ALMOST OUT OF CONTROL. I FEARED FOR THE LIFE OF MYSELF AND MY 4 KIDS IN THE CAR. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO LUCKILY GAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR DUE TO MY 30+ YRS EXPERIENCE AS A DRIVER AND FORCE THE CAR ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD, SLIDING INTO DIRT. THE CAR SKIDDED APPROX 75 FEET ON PAVEMENT. (PHOTOS ATTACHED) THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WAS DIAGNOSED BY MY MECHANIC AS THE BALL JOINT AND LOWER CONTROL ARM OF THE CAR COMPLETELY SNAPPING/ BREAKING CAUSED BY EROSION/CORROSION, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR. CAR WAS TOWED AS WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE TIRE CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AXLE WHEEL, AND OTHER PARTS OF THE CAR AND ENGINE AS DESCRIBED BY SMITH HAVEN MAZDA, WHERE CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY MATTER AND MYSELF AND 4 CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I AM SO UPSET THAT MAZDA DID NOT IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS TO COMPLETELY STOP USING THESE CARS DUE TO THE DANGEROUS RISK OF DEATH/CRASH. * ENGINE ISSUES WHEN THE A/C COMPRESSOR LOCKED UP. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THIS HAPPENED AROUND 36K MILES WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY. WE HAD TO COAST INTO THE NEXT EXIT. * ENGINE KNOCKING ISSUES. THEY STILL PERSIST AND STARTED AROUND 50K MILES. * ENGINE RESISTANCE. ALONGSIDE THE KNOCKING THERE SEEMS TO BE A GOOD AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE WHEN TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF OF THE PEDAL FOR ACCELERATION. * THEY ADDED A FACTORY EXTENSION TO THE RADIO FOR THE IPOD. EVER SINCE THEY INSTALLED THIS, THE REST OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN OVERLOADED. - HEADLIGHTS GO OUT FREQUENTLY. THIS CONCERNS ME AS MY WIFE DRIVES THE CAR AND I WOULDN'T WANT BOTH TO GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. - THE BATTERY WON'T HOLD A CHARGE IF NOT DRIVEN FOR A FEW DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE RADIO HAS A 'PARASITIC DRAW' ON THE BATTERY CAUSING THESE ISSUES, BUT REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR INSTALLATION. MY MAZDA CX7 - 2008 HAS ONLY 70,000 MILES AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND AFTER BRINGING IT TO A MECHANIC AND CHECKING THE CODES WITH A COMPUTER, IT CAME UP THAT THE EGR VALVE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ALL THE MECHANICS THAT I TALKED WITH WERE REALLY SURPRISE AND ASKED ME IF THE MAZDA CX7 - 2008 HAS A RECALL ON THE EGV VALVE BECAUSE IT IS NOT NORMAL THAT WITH THAT LITTLE MILES THE EGR VALVE NEED TO BE REPLACED. ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 4, 2015, I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 MAZDA CX-7 AND I STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT. WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE OFF WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, MY CAR HESITATED AND WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDDLE A LITTLE MORE, IT STILL HESITATED THEN FINALLY TOOK OFF. ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HEARD AN EXTREMELY LOUD POPPING NOISE, AND THEN THICK, HEAVY WHITE SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE TAILPIPE. THE WHITE SMOKE THEN STARTED FLOWING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AND IT STARTED TO COME INTO THE CAR THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, IT WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO GEAR, SO I PUSHED THE PARKING BREAK, AND IT FINALLY STOPPED. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO GRAB MY PURSE, I SAW FIRE COMING THROUGH THE BOTTOM AIR VENTS ( THE ONES THAT BLOW AIR ON YOUR FEET) SO I GRABBED MY PURSE AS QUICKLY AS I COULD, AND RAN AWAY FROM THE CAR. EGR VALVE FAILURE ON A 2008 MAZDA CX-7 WITH 47,500 MILES. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF A EGR VALVE BEFORE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THEM TELL ME THE ERROR CODE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE PART WAS 60MONTHS/60,000 MILES. WHILE I WAS WAY UNDER ON THE MILES, I WAS 5 MONTHS OVER ON THE TIME. SINCE THIS WAS MY 3RD TRIP INTO THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE PAST 5 MONTHS DEALING WITH PROBLEMS/MAINTENANCE WITH MY CX-7, I ASKED WHY THIS PARTICULAR PART FAILED. FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THE CHAIN BREAK LEAVING THEM STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. ALSO FOUND THAT THE ENTIRE CASING AND THE TENSIONING BELT/MECHANISM IS FAILING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND I AM SURPRISED THAT NO ONE HAS RECALLED THIS, IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 07 MODEL AS WELL. WILL REQUEST OLD PARTS BE KEPT. CURRENTLY BEING WORKED ON. *TR

I OWN A MAZDA 2008 CX7 SPORT - PURCHASED NEW ON 11/28/2007. I HAVE 62,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER ON 6/22/2010 WITH LOUD WHINING NOISE AND LOSS OF POWER. DEALER SAID THE TURBO IS MALFUNCTIONED. OVER THE NEXT WEEK THE EXTENDED SERVICE COMPANY FOR MAZDA REQUESTED MAINTENANCE RECORDS. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED OUTSIDE OF THE DEALER SOME OF THE TIME. THEY LOOKED AT THIS AND DECLINED THE WARRANTY REPAIRS. I KEPT CALLING AND THEY AGREED TO SEND OUT AN INDEPENDENT ADJUSTER. HE NOTED A "SLUDGE" BUILD UP ON THE OIL RETURN HOSE BOLT TO THE TURBO. THEY DECLINED MY WARRANTY COVERAGE. I AM HAVING TO PAY $2500 TO REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH ONLINE AND THIS VEHICLE IS HAVING NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH SLUDGE BUILDUP. THIS COMES FROM THE ENGINE RUNNING TO HOT AND BREAKING THE OIL DOWN TO CREATE BLOCKAGES THAT ULTIMATELY AFFECT THE TURBO OR OTHER INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS. IF YOU LOOK ON EDMUNDS WEBSITE YOU CAN SEE THEIR ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. MAZDA WILL NOT MAKE THE RECALL OR ASSIST THE CONSUMERS. WE FOLLOW THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS ON OIL CHANGE AND ARE GETTING NO ASSISTANCE. I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL HAVE ADDITIONAL ISSUES ONCE THIS IS REPAIRED AND THEY WILL DECLINE FUTURE SERVICE. HAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? I ACTUALLY HAVE THE DEALERS PRINTED COPY OF WHERE THEY REPAIRED THE TIMING BELT TENSIONER IN APRIL AT 57K MILES. ACCORDING TO THE SUPERVISOR FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OFFICE HIS COMPUTER RECORDS SHOW THEY REPAIRED THE SERPENTINE BELT FOR LESS MONEY THAT THE DEALER RECORDS I HAVE IN HAND. WHAT IS GOING ON THIS JUST DOES NOT SEEM HONEST. I NEED HELP AND THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME SITUATION OVER THE LAST YEAR - SOME HAVING TO SPEND $7500 + OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR THEIR CX7. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MAZDA CX-7. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. WHEN HE PLACED THE GEAR INTO PARK, IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT ALL OF THE VEHICLES DO NOT LOCK IN PARK AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE GEAR SHIFT MOVES WHILE THE ENGINE IS ON AND THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. THE CONTACT HAS OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR THREE WEEKS. ANOTHER DRIVER EXITED THEIR VEHICLE AND THOUGHT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AFTER SHE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE GEAR FAILED TO LOCK INTO PLACE AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS ABNORMAL, BUT ALL OF THE VEHICLES OPERATE IN THAT MANNER AND THERE MAY BE A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. THE CONTACT AND SERVICE MANAGER ALSO OBSERVED SEVERAL VEHICLES THAT WERE DESIGNED IN THAT MANNER. THE CONTACT IS ALSO WAITING ON A DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER TO CALL HIM BACK. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE OWNER'S MANUAL DID NOT INDICATE THAT THERE MAY BE DIFFICULTY WITH THE GEAR SHIFT. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE REAR END BUMPER AND TAILGATE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 700 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 760. UPDATED 09/10/08. *LJ UPDATED 09/11/08.*JB
