The dash of the car is melting. It causes a reflection that is bright and impairs visibility. Mazda addressed this problem with extending the warranty. When I called the local dealerships, none of them had the dash to replace per warranty. I made several calls throughout the year and each time was told the dashboard was not available and to try again. Then COVID hit and I did not venture out. When I finally called again, the warranty had expired. Mazda offered me $200 towards replacing the dash. When I called the dealership, it was almost a $1,000 repair. I've then called Mazda again and they asked me to get a diagnosis at a local dealership. I did that and then have had zero response to my many emails and calls from my assigned rep. I have never seen a dash melt and get sticky and shiny like this before. It is literally dripping down. I believe this is a safety defect. And why Mazda had to extend the warranty. But they didn't go far enough because they extended the warranty but did not have the parts to honor such a warranty.

The dashboard is melting more and more everyday. Its becoming sticky and very reflective. Sometimes whenever I am driving in the morning the sun will reflect off and blind me making it very hard to safely operate my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated that overtime the dashboard had become glossy and sticky due to excessive heat. The contact also stated that on sunny days, the sun would reflect off the glossy surface and would obstruct her vision while driving. The contact notified the dealer of the failure and they informed her that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and she was informed that unless she had received a notification that her vehicle was under recall or warranty, no assistance could be provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR PLASTIC ON THE DASHBOARD WAS DEGRADING, CAUSING THE PLASTIC TO BECOME REFLECTIVE AND PRODUCING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IMPAIRED HER VISION WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.

This vehicle is subject to recall #: 17V-082 referring to a drivers seat lifter link than can break. My car has a broken lifter link, was brought to the dealership and instead of replacing the entire seat adjuster unit like the recall states, they simply installed a reinforcement bracket. When brought back to Med Center Mazda they state it has already been repaired and therefore cannot be repaired again. The vehicle still has a broken seat lifter link.

Monday 7/10/2023 car was fine ie (the seat) next day Tues 7/11/2023 opened drivers side door couldn’t believe my eyes. The driver seat had somehow migrated clear up to an inch from my chest to the steering wheel. I called Maple Shade Turnersville to make an appointment-wasn’t able to get in until 7/20/2023. I was told I had to return on 7/24/2023. Did that. Appt was 7:30AM. Was given a loaner car. At around 10:30 Am Mazda Tuenersville called to ask me to return the loaner (?). When I arrived Pat Kearny told me he couldn’t do anything to help with the car seat. Told me my car was too old that they didn’t make parts for my 2010 Mazda 3 for the already recalled seat problems. Now I’m in a big bind. My steering wheel is one inch from my chest. I am very upset what happened here.

MY DRIVER SEAT HAS SUBSTANTIAL UNWANTED MOVEMENT. I WAS GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CRACK. THE SEAT NOW MOVES 2" BACK AND FORTH WHILE ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING. THIS IS IMPAIRING MY ABILITY TO PROPERLY USE THE CLUTCH PEDAL AND MAINTAINING SPEED WITH THE GAS PEDAL.

I have reason to believe the dealership I bought my vehicle from rolled back my odometer. Upon checking my carfax information, 12/01/24, the odometer read 161,142, which the dealership did own my vehicle at this time. When I bought this car in April of 2025, the odometer was reading 130,000.

Mazda, had issued a recall in 2020. however, I was out of the country and due to covid was unable to get the recalled part fixed. Now Mazda is refusing to fix it. I have contacted them multiple times and they just give me the run around and say that the date has passed and they will not fix it anymore.

My car has a sticky-melting dashboard problem. When the sunlight hits it, the reflection on the windshield makes seeing ahead difficult. The dealer inspected it but they say there's nothing they can do about it.

I HAVE A 2010 MAZDA3 I-SPORT MODEL. AFTER COMING BACK FROM A TWO WEEK VACATION, I FOUND MY DASHBOARD TO BECOME STICKY AND, WHILE UNDER DIRECT SUNLIGHT, WILL EMIT A GLARE ONTO THE WINDSHIELD THAT GREATLY REDUCES VISIBILITY. I OWN A 2010 MAZDA 3 I-TOURING AND I BEGAN TO NOTICE AROUND THE SUMMER OF 2014 THAT THE TOP OF MY DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDE STARTED TO MELT. SINCE IT FIRST STARTED IT HAS GREATLY EXPANDED IN SIZE- IT'S BEGINNING TO CROSS OVER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. Transmission control module issues. Car was driving on the expressway and wouldn’t shift out of second gear. Engine light and AT light came on. Had to drive slowly on the expressway and get off on the closest exit. Cars were speeding past me and I had to be careful not to get hit. Research and shop shows the 2010 Mazda 3 vehicles have lots of issue with the TCM because they get hot due to there location.

The vehicle also started jerking. After the vehicle accelerated, the vehicle started operating normally. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 150,000.

Car will stall out and restart immediately and I temporarily lose power steering when turn signal is engaged, sometimes when the wheel turns and when I disengage the e-brake. My mechanic cannot find the problem and I have read many many forums that show the same issue with the same vehicle. Happens every time I drive the car for weeks and then will disappear for a couple weeks and then come back. This happens even when I'm doing 65 on the highway!

I HAD MY MAZDA 3 FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR JERKED SO BAD I THOUGHT I HAD HIT THE BRAKES OR HOT SOMETHING I COULDN'T SEE. BUT I HADN'T HIT THE BRAKES NOR DID I HIT ANYTHING. I TOOK IT TO MAZDA IN PANAMA CITY AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. IT FORGETS TO SHIFT. IT'S LOCATED UNDER THE BATTERY AND I'M AWARE THAT THIS PART OF CAR ENGINE IS SUPPOSED TO BREATH TO WORK RIGHT. I JUST KNOW IT DOESN'T WORK RIGHT AND EVERY TIME I DROVE MY CAR IT'S STEADY JERKING AND SNATCHING MY WHEEL. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND I HAVE NO OTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM (TPMS) LIGHT CAME ON TO INDICATE A LOW TIRE. I PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION NEAR MY HOUSE RIGHT AFTER AND CHECK MY TIRE PRESSURES. WHEN CHECKING THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE PRESSURE WITH A TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE THE TPMS SENSOR AND STEM PUSHED IN AND AIR BLASTED OUT, BLOWING SEVERAL PIECES OF THE SLEEVE THAT KEEPS THE STEM IN PLACE OFF OF THE WHEEL/STEM. I PICKED UP THE 2 REMAINING PIECES (ONE THIRD OF THE SLEEVE WAS MISSING AND PRESUMED TO HAVE FALLEN OFF WHILE DRIVING) AND THEY HAD CRACKED LENGTH-WISE AND HAD A LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE CORROSION IN THE THREADS. THE REMAINING STEM WAS ALSO COVERED IN WHITE CORROSION ON THE THREADS AND THE TIRE HAD LOST MOST OF ITS PRESSURE. I STILL HAVE THOSE PIECES OF THE CRACKED TPMS SENSOR SLEEVE IF NEEDED TO BE EXAMINED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE AND WHEEL TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INSPECTED THAT WHEEL AS WELL AS THE OTHERS. THEY STATED THAT 2 OF MY OTHER TPMS SENSORS HAD CRACKED SLEEVES THAT COULD COME OFF AT ANY TIME IN ADDITION THE ONE THAT HAD FAILED. my Mazda 03 dashboard is melting, and I am not able to see out the window... I have talked to dealer and manufactory, and they will not pay the whole amount knowing it's a safety issue. I don't understand how they can sell product on car that is malfunctioning and a safety issue. I bought the car brand new in 2010 and didn't have any issues until this year. I am writing to file a complaint regarding the defective dashboard of my Mazda 3. The dash of the car under the windshield has become melty and shines excessively, making it extremely difficult to see when the sun is shining on the dashboard. The reflection on the windshield is so intense that it affects the visibility of the road and makes it hard to see clearly. I was informed by the dealership that there was an extended service available for this issue, but it expired after 10 years. I was never informed of this extended service and only now, after my dashboard has become extremely affected, did I find out about it. This is extremely concerning as the dashboard is an important safety feature of the car and the reflection from the dashboard is affecting my visibility, putting myself and other drivers on the road in danger. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of transparency and communication from the dealership regarding this extended service and the fact that my dashboard has become defective despite proper maintenance and upkeep of the car. I demand that Mazda take responsibility for the defective dashboard and rectify the issue as soon as possible. I kindly request that the NHTSA investigates this matter and ensures that Mazda takes the necessary actions to resolve this issue for all affected car owners.

Power Steering sometimes works and sometimes not. Can go out and stop working or start working, in the middle of driving. i noticed Mazda has a recall for 2007, 2008, 2009 Mazda 3 cars, but *NOT* 2010 Mazda 3. I suspect the same issue.

WE PURCHASED A 2010 MAZDA3 IN 2017. RIGHT AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE STARTED HAVING POWER STEERING ISSUES. THE CAR WOULD LOOSE POWER STEERING INTERMINETLY SO THE REPAIR SHOPS WERE NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. MY DAUGHTER HAD MOVED TO WASHINTON STATE AND AFTER LIVING THERE A COUPLE OF MONTHS THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THIS REPAIR WAS VERY EXPENSIVE WITH THE PUMP ALONE BEING AROUND $1000 TOTALING $1500 AFTER BEING INSTALLED. NOW WE ARE A YEAR AND A HALF LATER AND GUESS WHAT LIGHT HAS CAME ON AGAIN....THE POWER STEERING LIGHT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE REPAIR SHOP AND MAZDA WHICH HAVE BOTH TOLD ME THE WARRANTY IS 12 MONTHS/12,000 MILES. REALLY? FOR A $1000 PUMP AND RISKING MY LIFE? NOT ONLY ONCE BUT TWICE? ONCE THIS VEHICLES POWER STEERING IS DISABLED IT IS VERY HARD TO STEER. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE CAR SO IT SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY UNTIL SOMEONE CAN MAKE MAZDA REIMBURSE AND PAY FOR THEIR JUNK.

MY DAUGHTER RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2010 MAZDA 3. IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS HER POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY AND HER POWER STEERING THEN DOES NOT WORK. THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND SHE HAS NOTICED IF SHE TURNS THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTS IT SEVERAL TIMES HER POWER STEERING STARTS TO WORK AGAIN. THE VEHICLE IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL WHEN THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THIS BECAUSE SHE WEIGHTS 80 LBS. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE SHOP ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BUT WITH IT DOING IT INTERMITTENTLY THE SHOPS CANNOT IDENTIFY THE SPECIFIC CAUSE. TWO DIFFERENT SHOPS BELIEVE IT IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I HAVE READ UP ON THIS ISSUE AND AM AWARE OF THE RECALLS BUT 2010'S ARE NOT INCLUDED.

The dashboard adhesive migrates to the surface of the dashboard. Adhesive then sublimates and condenses on the windshield making a glaze on the windshield, making it extremely difficult to see the road in sunrise or sunset conditions. I've repeatedly cleaned the windshield with many different cleaners including acetone, but at best I am only able to improve visibility, not restore it. In the attached photo, the upper portion of photo illustrates the film of adhesive on the glass after it was wiped with a clean paper towel, creating a hazy appearance. The entire windshield was cleaned with acetone and heavy duty degreaser and window cleaner prior to the photo.

TOUCHING IT RESULTS IN GETTING MOLTEN DASHBOARD ON MY FINGERS AND THERE IS AN AWFUL GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING IMPAIRING VISIBILITY. IT'S BEEN HOT THIS SUMMER AND WHATEVER THE DASHBOARD IS MADE OF WAS NOT BUILT TO HANDLE HEAT.

As the original owner, I have now experienced (4) faulty/broken/corroded valve stem as part (attached to the TPMS-Tire Pressure Monitor System). This happened over the course of 12 years. I do believe all of them were OEM parts. All of them broke when attempting to air up the tire. It is a safety issue because once broke, you can no longer put air into the tire. The first occurrence was while still under warranty and i had to argue with the Mazda dealer to replace it . The dealership gave me some sort of unofficial receipt which I actually kept, found, and attached to this complaint form. During my second set of tires, Sams Club graciously replaced 2 more as part of their tire warranty package (I dont think they documented this on their receipts). Now, what i believe to be the final OEM stem left has broke. Unfortunately, I have a third set of tires through Costco and they wont replace without a fee. This should be a safety recall absolutely no doubt in my experience!

MAZDA3 FACTORY-INSTALLED TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEMS ARE PREMATURELY FAILING RESULTING IN AN IMMEDIATE TIRE DEFLATION WITH NO PRIOR WARNING OR INDICATION OF FAILURE. FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WHEN MOVING. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INDICATION (I.E. NO WARNING OR SLOW LOSS OF PRESSURE) OF A PROBLEM WITH THE VALVE. PRIOR TO THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE NEVER HAD A TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEM FAIL IN THE 35+ YEARS I HAVE OWNED VEHICLES. HOWEVER, THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES TO THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE (WHICH WE PURCHASED IN 2014) WITH THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE HAPPENING TODAY, 16 JAN 2019. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED THIS IS A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM WITH MAZDA 3 TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEMS. I'VE ATTACHED PICTURES OF TODAY'S FAILURE AS WELL AS AN EXEMPLAR WEBSITE PRINTOUT OF IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS BY OTHER MAZDA OWNERS. GIVEN THE UNWARNED AND RAPID FAILURE OF THESE VALVE STEMS, THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE POTENTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL SHOULD THE TIRE INFLATION VALVE STEM FAIL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY DURING ADVERSE WEATHER.

WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON THE BYPASS WHEN THE VALVE STEM AND TPMS SENSOR BROKE OFF AND IMMEDIATELY DEFLATED THE TIRE SHAKING THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY AND ALMOST CAUSING DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL. HAVE BROUGHT THIS COMPLAINT TO MAZDA IN THE PAST AND THEY SAID THEY KNOW THAT IT IS CAUSED BY USING DISSIMILAR METALS ON THE TPMS SENSOR CAUSING EROSION TO THE STEM AND ULTIMATELY THE STEM BREAKING OFF. THIS TPMS SENSOR WAS ALREADY REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIRE CHANGE INTERVAL AND STILL FAILED LONG BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS DUE FOR ANOTHER SET OF TIRES. MAZDA KNOWS THESE ARE DEFECTIVE AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I'D RATHER NOT HAVE TPMS AND NOT KNOW WHAT MY TIRE PRESSURES ARE THAN TO HAVE THAT SYSTEM ENDANGER MYSELF OR MY FAMILY ANY MORE. IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF, SINCE JULY 2015, I HAVE REPLACED THREE TIRE MONITORING VALVES ON MY 2010 MAZDA 3. THIS MORNING I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR THE MONITOR WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH REPLACEMENT. AND THE REPAIR IS NOT CHEAP THROUGH THE DEALER. IT IS ABOUT $200 FOR EACH VALVE. I READ SOME BAD EXPERIENCES WHERE PEOPLE HAVE HAD A TIRE BLOW OUT. I PRAY THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ME.

On August 15, 2025, my 2010 Mazda 3 began displaying the ABS warning light intermittently while driving. The ABS system is a critical safety feature, and when the light comes on, I am unsure if the braking system will function properly in an emergency. I scanned the vehicle using a Foxwell diagnostic tool and retrieved the following ABS-related fault codes: C0020:1C-2B – ABS Pump Motor Control Circuit U0425:62-60 – Invalid Data Received from IPC/ABS Control Module U0140:00-28 – Lost Communication with Body Control Module These issues are consistent with Mazda Technical Service Bulletin 04-002/13 (July 17, 2013), which documents ABS pump motor failures caused by poor motor brush contact. This is a serious safety concern because the ABS system fails without warning, leaving the driver and passengers at risk of brake loss in critical conditions. Why this should be investigated: The defect occurs intermittently, making it difficult to predict or reproduce. It matches a known documented defect acknowledged by Mazda in TSB 04-002/13. Other owners have reported similar ABS pump failures in Mazda vehicles of this generation. The failure compromises safe braking and should be treated as a safety defect warranting investigation and possible recall. Action Requested: I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this recurring ABS pump/motor failure in 2010 Mazda 3 vehicles and determine whether a recall should be issued to address this known defect.

ABS will cause complete brake failure when it is engaged. For example, needing to stop quickly to avoid hitting another vehicle and the brakes will lose all pressure and the vehicle will not stop. Several mechanics have not been able to diagnose or fix. Immediately after the incident, there will be minimal brake pressure of about 20%, eventually it will return to normal. Must avoid applying brakes in emergency situations as it will actually be worse than attempting to steer out of it. This has happened about 6 times in 4 years. It happened the first time about 3 days after I bought the vehicle in 2019.

The abs (anti-lock braking system) unit module failed and no, the failing component has been replaced. The brake pedal went to the floor and almost caused an accident. Yes, the problem kept occurring, and yes, a dealer did reproduce the problem. Yes, it has been inspected by a dealer, but not the manufacturer. No, there was no warning lamps or problems prior to the failure.

I purchased two tires from Les Schwab in Molalla, OR on 1/15/25 in which upon them changing the tires they damaged one of my TPMS sensors and they did not replace it. I didn't have a warning light before I went in and now I do and they knowingly did not replace it when TPMS sensor service was part of purchasing the new tires. Instead they quoted me $451.96 to replace the sensors in all 4 tires other than replaced the one they broke. A set of TPMS sensors online cost $28, this is unethical of them to take advantage of consumers like this and they should be held accountable. If I'm not mistake it says in "49 USC 30122(b)" that "Prohibition.-A manufacturer, distributor, dealer, rental company, or motor vehicle repair business may not knowingly make inoperative any part of a device or element of design installed on or in a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment in compliance with an applicable motor vehicle safety standard prescribed under this chapter unless the manufacturer, distributor, dealer, rental company, or repair business reasonably believes the vehicle or equipment will not be used (except for testing or a similar purpose during maintenance or repair) when the device or element is inoperative." 205/55 R16

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 65 MPH NEARLY LOSING CONTROL MY MY VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND EXAMINE MY TIRE, AND SAW THAT MY VALVE STEM WAS COMPLETELY MISSING FROM THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, IT APPEARS THAT THE WHEEL THREADS SHOWS SIGNS OF CORROSION WHICH MAY HAVE RESULTED IN THE TPMS MONITOR AND VALVE STEM BREAKING OFF.

While driving on the interstate, the driver’s side airbag deployed without any obvious cause. There was no pothole, bump, or clear reason for the airbag to deploy. There was moderate traffic. This put myself and others nearby at risk by causing me to flinch after getting hit by the airbag. I was lucky to not swerve into anything or cause any damage. It caused temporary loss of hearing and a sore neck, but no serious injury. Prior to the failure, there were no dash lights, messages, or other symptoms.

I START THE CAR AND REMAIN PARKED. THE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES ONCE, PAUSES, AND THEN FLASHES SIX TIMES. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTINUES TO FLASH ONCE FOLLOWED BY SIX MORE FLASHES. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN. MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NO AIRBAG HAS BEEN DEPLOYED AND CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the instrument panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of failure. AT APPROXIMATELY 49,000 MILES THE LEFT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR AND LATCH STARTED TO FAIL. THIS CAUSES THE LOCKS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK REPEATEDLY AT ALL SPEEDS. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND IS SOMETIMES MADE WORSE DEPENDING ON TEMPERATURE OR HOW BUMPY THE ROAD IS. I HAVE NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE CONNECTOR ON THE ACTUATOR BEING LOOSE AND NOT ALWAYS MAKING A GOOD CONNECTION. THE ISSUE CAUSES ALL DOORS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK OR JUST STAY UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING. I ALSO HAVE TO KEEP THE DOME LIGHTS TURNED OFF BECAUSE SOMETIMES THEY WOULD STAY ON. THE COMPUTER WAS THINKING THAT THE DOOR WAS OPEN. I'M SETTING THE DATE OF IT HAPPENING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH BUT IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME NOW.

A substantial amount of water has made its way into the headlight housing. This has caused the driver side light to go out. There is no evidence of any damage, cracks, or failure otherwise. It seems, like thousands of other Mazda3 drivers, the seals have failed. My particular model has the auto leveling and turning headlights. Cost to repair will be well over $1,000. This is a well known problem to Mazda. Lack of lighting is a safety issue. High price of repair is a serious bar to fixing the issue and returning to safe driving. I was unaware of the failure as no warning is communicated to the driver.

MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS OUT FOR AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME UNTIL A POLICE OFFICER KINDLY PULLED ME OVER AND TOLD ME. WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE LIGHT REPLACED, THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT WAS OUT, NOT THE DRIVER SIDE. I ASSUMED THE OFFICER HAD MADE A MISTAKE. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED. A FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING APPROX 40MPH ON AN UNLIT ROAD WHEN BOTH MY HEADLIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHTBULB MYSTERIOUSLY CAME ON AGAIN BUT THE DRIVER SIDE DIDN'T. SO THEN THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHT WAS REPLACED AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY INSPECTED THE PASSENGER SIDE ONE AND REPORTED IT 'CHECKED GOOD'. IT WAS ONLY GOOD FOR A FEW MONTHS BECAUSE IT'S OUT AGAIN. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN EXCESSIVE CONDENSATION IN THESE LIGHTS BUT I DISMISSED IT - MAZDA OR THE MECHANICS WOULD TELL ME IF IT COULD BE A PROBLEM, RIGHT? I'VE RESEARCHED NOW AND FOUND THE ISSUE IS REPORTED ON ALL THE MAZDA3 MESSAGE BOARDS AND TO YOU AT THE NTSB (THESE ARE JUST THE ONES I FOUND: 11044247,11015855,10865541,10849726,10823321,10723613, 10715457,10683926,10640462,10632527,10573945,10558974,10554823, 10548296, 10443658,10914541,10874861,10865443,10853089). THERE ARE AT LEAST NINE MAZDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. NEITHER MAZDA ITSELF NOR THE MAZDA SERVICE DEPARTMENTS WHERE MY CAR WAS SERVICED MANY TIMES HAD TOLD ME ABOUT IT. MY 2010 MAZDA HAS HAD A BUILD UP OF CONDENSATION IN THE DRIVER'S HEADLIGHT FOR SOME TIME AND RECENTLY THE DRIVER'S HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HEADLAMP WHICH REQUIRES REMOVAL OF THE BUMPER. I WOULD BE LOOKING AT CLOSE TO $1000+ TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. I DECLINED THE REPAIR AS I WANTED TO DO MORE RESEARCH ON THE SAFETY BULLETINS THAT ARE POSTED FOR THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP DECLINED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE BASED ON THE PUBLISHED SAFETY BULLETINS. RECENTLY, CONDENSATION HAS STARTED IN MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP AND THAT HEADLIGHT IS NOW OUT AS WELL. IT SHOULD BE NOTED I LIVE IN THE DRY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENT SO MY CAR IS HARDLY EVER EXPOSED TO WATER FOR CONDENSATION TO EVEN BE BUILDING UP. THIS POSES A REAL DANGER TO DRIVERS AS THE HEADLIGHTS MAY GO OUT (POSSIBLY BOTH) WHILE DRIVING CAUSING VERY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS BOTH FOR THOSE IN THE VEHICLE BUT FOR OTHER VEHICLES SHARING THE ROAD.

After exiting the vehicle, the driver and passenger opened the hood and noticed that the engine had fallen. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

WITHIN A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING MY 2010 MAZDA 3 S SPORT SEDAN IN OCTOBER, 2018 FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN MIDVALE, UT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. USING A CODE READER, I CONSISTENTLY GET A CODE OF P0421, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE CATALYST EFFICIENCY IS BELOW THRESHOLD. I HAVE HAD 3 AUTO REPAIR SHOPS LOOK AT MY CAR, AND THEY ALL SAY THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DESPITE THE FACT THAT MAZDA WARRANTS CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS/PZEV VEHICLES (WHICH MINE IS) FOR A PERIOD OF 15 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES ON ALL EMISSIONS RELATED COMPONENTS, THEY WILL NOT REPAIR MY CAR UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I CURRENTLY DO NOT LIVE IN A STATE THAT USES CA EMISSIONS STANDARDS WHEN TESTING VEHICLE EMISSIONS. I FEEL THAT SINCE MY CAR IS NOT PERFORMING AS IT WAS DESIGNED AND MAY BE RELEASING MY POLLUTANTS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE THAT IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER AT NO CHARGE TO ME, REGARDLESS OF WHERE I CURRENTLY LIVE. IN ADDITION, WHEN I START THE CAR ON A COLD ENGINE, I CAN SMELL EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE CABIN, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE MAY BE A LEAK AT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET WHICH COULD BE DANGEROUS TO ANYONE DRIVING THE CAR IF THEY INHALE THE EXHAUST GASES THAT MAY ENTER THE PASSENGER AREA THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO ON DAILY (UNLESS I RESET IT, AND THEN IT GOES BACK ON AGAIN LATER AFTER DRIVING) AND MY CAR WILL NOT PASS ITS NEXT EMISSIONS INSPECTION WITHOUT THIS ISSUE BEING FIXED.

THE MAZDA DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THE HARNESS FIX. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY CAR AND ONE DAY, MY CAR HAD LOUD ROARING SOUND. WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS LATER, IT BEGAN TO EMIT WHITE SMOKE FROM UNDER HOOD AND BLACK SMOKE FROM TAILPIPE AND BEGIN TO LOSE POWER ON FREEWAY OFF-RAMP. I COASTED TO BOTTOM OF OFF RAMP. THEN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT TO MOVE IT TO A NEARBY KAISER LOT ADJACENT TO EXIT RAMP. FROM THERE, I HAD IT TOWED HOME AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE.

GAS PEDALS IS STICKY WHEN FLOORING IT. IT WILL STAY AT THE MAXIMUM ACCELERATION POSITION FOREVER OR THE GAS PEDALS IS STICK WITH THE FLOOR FOREVER. THE ONLY WAY TO GET OUT OF IT IS TO MANUALLY PULL IT BACK. THE STICKY GAS PEDALS WILL LEAD TO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION INCIDENTS. I BELIEVED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH YEAR 2010 MAZDA3 5 DOOR.

CRUISE CONTROL TURNS OFF WHEN GOING DOWN HILLS, EVEN SMALL ONES. I USE MY CRUISE CONTROL DAILY AND MY DRIVE TO WORK CONTAINS MANY SMALL HILLS. WHEN CRUISING AT 70, I GO DOWN A HILL. THE CRUISE CONTROL BACKS OFF THEN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, IT FAILS TO ENGAGE. ONCE I HAVE DRIFTED FROM 70 MPH DOWN TO 60 MPH, IT TURNS ITSELF OFF. I'VE HAD MY CAR 2 MONTHS AND THIS HAS HAPPENED 11 TIMES NOW. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WRONG AND THE ONLY WAY IT CAN TURN ITSELF OFF IS IF I TOUCH THE BRAKE OR THE CLUTCH. DURING THE SUMMER THERE WAS A TOXIC SMELL THAT WAS MAKING MYSELF AND OTHERS WHO RODE IN THE VEHICLE ILL. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, PURCHASED BRAND NEW. IN JANUARY 2012 THE HEATER WHEN TURNING ON MADE A LOUD CLICKING SOUND FOR APPROX. 20 TO 30 SECONDS, EACH TIME. UPON RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, LOCAL MECHANICS, I FOUND OUT THE HEATER BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR IS THE PROBLEM. I WAS GOING TO REPLACE IT, BUT UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT THIS HEATER ASSEMBLY IS NOT ONLY USED BY MAZDA, NISSAN, TOYOTA, CHEVY, FORD, AND LEXUS. THIS HEATER IS KNOWN TO HAVE THIS DESIGN ERROR. I THEN DECIDED TO HAVE THE MAZDA DEALER CHANGE IT FOR $130.00. THE DEALER THEN TOLD ME THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY NEEDED CHANGING FOR $250.00 PLUS LABOR. The dashboard in my 2010 Mazda 3 has melted significantly throughout the years. It has become hazardous and tough to operate this vehicle. The dashboard is glossy, sticky, and believe a slight odor. I tried to slow its deterioration by using a sunshade when parked. It not only did not help, the dashboard just ruined each shade with a sticky, tar-like, black residue. No dealership has offered to help me without trying to charge me the total price of replacement, plus their labor costs. I regularly check to see if there has been a new recall, but there has not. I can not sell this car without feeling guilty for endangering others. I am unlikely to return to Mazda as a paying customer since they shy away from treating my family like one. I hope this issue is fixed adequately for me and anyone else suffering from this issue.

THE DASH ON MY VEHICLE HAS MELTED AND BECOME SHINY AND HARD TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND MAZDA HAS "EXTENDED" THE WARRANTY ON THE DASH, HOWEVER SINCE MY CAR HAS A "BRANDED TITLE" FROM HAIL DAMAGE THIS EXCLUDES MY VEHICLE. ALSO THE ISSUE IS OUTSIDE THE 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES AND IS LISTED ON THE MAZDA WEBSITE. MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER CONTACTING MAZDA THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE DASH. THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE, PARTICULARLY THE AREA ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL, APPEARS TO HAVE MELTED. THE SURFACE OF THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND SHINY LIKE IT IS COVERED IN TAR. IT CANNOT BE WIPED, AND THE SHINY SURFACE PRODUCES A SEVERE GLARE RIGHT IN THE LINE OF SIGHT FOR THE DRIVER. NO CLEANERS OR CHEMICALS HAVE BEEN USED ON THE DASH, ONLY A DRY CLOTH.

I TOOK IT TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP IN JACKSONVILLE FL, AND THEY FOUND THREE DIFFERENT FAULTY CODES ; ONE FOR THE ABS CONTROL MOTOR C0020 ONE FOR THE DCS SWITCH C110964-64-60 AND ONE FOR THE ABS CONTROL MODULE U0415 92-48. THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $1100 INCLUDING LABOR. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY HIGH! I HAVE PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2016 JANUARY FOR $7900! THE ABS & DSC (DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL) INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I HAVE HAD THE CAR TESTED AT A REPAIR SHOP AND TWO SEPARATE COMPUTER READOUTS SHOW CODES C0020, U0140 & U0140 (RELATED TO THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT). THE SHOP PROVIDED SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 04-002/13, LAST ISSUED: 7/17/2013 RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND I MAY NOT HAVE FUNCTIONAL ABS OR DSC BUT THE BRAKES, WHILE NOT HAVING ABS, STILL FUNCTION. I WAS ADVISED THIS MAY BE A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR BUT SINCE IT IS A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE, MAZDA MAY FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO CHARGE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. ROAD WAS WET. VEHICLE GETS IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO TURN QUICK TO AVOID HITTING THIS VEHICLE. I LOST CONTROL, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. I KNOW DSC IS NOT SUPPOSED TO REPLACE A SAFE DRIVER, BUT IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION LIKE THIS IT SHOULD OF AT LEAST HELPED ME OUT. IT TURNED COMPLETELY OFF. THE DSC LIGHT CAME ON PERMANENTLY AS WELL AS THE ABS LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON THE LIGHTS CAME OFF. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MAZDA DEALER AND WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AS TO THE SYSTEM HAVING ANY PROBLEM AT ALL. SO I DECIDE TO GO TO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT AND TRIED TO REPEAT THE SAME EMERGENCY SITUATION I WAS AND INDEED THE SYSTEM FAILED AGAIN. I WENT BACK TO THE MAZDA DEALER AND SHOWED THEM, AND APPARENTLY THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THEM IS REPLACE THE DSC MODULE. THIS WOULD OF BEEN SUFICIENT FOR ME IF THE SYSTEM WASN'T $700, AND SINCE MY VEHICLE HAS 50000 MILES ON IT AND I NO LONGER HAVE THEIR INITIAL WARRANTY EFFECTIVE, THEN IT'S A MUST STRIVE SITUATION. THE ONLY REASON I'M COMPLAINING IS BECAUSE OF THE POOR QUALITY OF THIS SYSTEM, THE HAZARDOUS SITUATION IT COULD COMPROMISE MAZDA DRIVERS AND OTHERS AROUND THEM, AND THE FACT THAT MAZDA IS IGNORING THIS DESPITE THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS COMPLAINING.

TCM has failed to communicate in engine. Car doesn’t not shift properly or has hard shifts if it is able to get back into gear. Car may experience AT engagement making it hard to steer and control vehicle. Can happen in the middle of driving. Independent service Auto mechanic shop Vehicle has no warning lights indicating failure until hard shift when driving 50miles per hour and engine would no longer speed up AT light then came on. Once parked for two days check engine light came on and vehicle no longer would shift into gear.

THERE IS A RECALL APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE WHICH REQUIRES THAT ENGINE MOUNTS BE STABLILZED. IT MAKES MY CAR VIBRATE AND THE ENGINE SOUNDS LOUD WHILE SEATED IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO A COUPLE OF DEALERS AND THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE REQUIRED PART. I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR.BECAUSE IT WAS SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I LET IT SIT IN MY GARAGE SINCE 2008. I FINALLY TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE HAD CAUSED A HOLE IN THE COOLANT TANK AND IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT. THAT'S WHY IT OVERHEATED. Mon-7/10/2023 used the car. Tues 7/11/2023 attempted to use my car opened the door on the drivers side-saw a bizarre position of the seat. It had somehow migrated during the night to approx 4” from the steering wheel when I try to get into the seat my chest stomach area is an inch away can’t reach the pedals very well because my right knee is up against the dashboard. Took the car to the dealership the man in charge told me there’s nothing they could do the car is too old. He told me to take it to an independent repair shop to get the parts from junk yard. Said he would have to cut the bolts on the seat track said he couldn’t do that. Please see the photos and video.

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the contact made an emergency stop. The contact stated that he struck the steering wheel with his chest. Additionally, the seat belt pretensioner failed to operate as needed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the driver’s side seat pretensioner Part Number: BCY7-57-L90A-01 needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

I HAVE HAD MY DASH REPLACED (WESCOTT, NATIONAL CITY, CA) BUT NO ONE MENTIONED THE SEAT PROBLEM THAT I CAN RECALL. NOW IT IS DECEMBER 2020 AND THE ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SEAT HAS BROKEN? I TOOK MY 2010 MAZDA3 IN FOR RECALL OF SEAT LINK ADJUSTERS AND TO SERVICE MY MELTING DASHBOARD THAT CAUSES AN UNSAFE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING IN SUNNY CONDITIONS. THE DEALERSHIP VERIFIED THE RECALL AND SERVICE IN MAY 2017 AND WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WILL NEED TO BE ORDERED. WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK IN A WEEK OR TWO. AFTER SEVERAL REPEATED ATTEMPTS AT CALLING AND EMAILING THE DEALERSHIP, I CANNOT REACH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF ORDERED PARTS. THE TIME FRAME FOR THE REPAIR FROM THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT THAT MOVES WHILE I SHIFT, AND THE HORRENDOUS GLARE FROM THE MELTING DASHBOARD, IS TO SLOW FOR RESOLUTION. MY NEW 2010 MAZDA 3 HATCHBACK WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF UNUSUAL HIGH/IRREGULAR TIRE WEAR. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AS PER THE COMPANY RECOMMENDED SCHEDULE. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE REAR TRAILING ARMS AND LOWER SHOCK BOLTS WERE LOOSE. AT 22,000 MILES THE FRONT TIRES THAT HAD BEEN ROTATED TO THE REAR WERE ALSO WEARING UNEVEN AND AT A HIGH RATE CONSIDERING THIS WAS ONLY MORE THAN A 5,000 MILE PERIOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAZDA ON JANURARY 17,2012 INFORMING THEM THAT I HAD CHECKED ONLINE AND THIS EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR HAS BEEN KNOWN BY MAZDA FOR OVER (5) YEARS. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONFIRMED THIS ISSUE AND MAZDA HAS DONE NOTHING TO REPAIR/RECALL THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO STATED THAT ALMOST ALL OF THE MAZDA 3 MODEL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MPH, I HEARD LIKE A GUNSHOT AND AT FIRST THOUGHT THERE WAS A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT BEHIND ME. According to other people on forums, the issue is inside the fuel tank. A piece of metal in the fuel tank has broken off and it scrapping inside the tank itself. I have no taken my car to a mechanic, yet. But, based on the multiple forums, this is an ongoing issue with Mazdas. You hear it mostly when your driving and come to a stop. Once stopped, you heard the scrapping until the car/fuel stops shifting.

THE FUEL SENDER UNIT, LOCATED IN TOP OF THE FUEL TANK, HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK AND IS CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK. THE NIPPLE THAT PROTRUDES FROM THE FUEL PUMP HAS CRACKED FROM WHAT LOOKS TO BE PRESSURE FROM THE CONNECTING FUEL HOSE. BECAUSE OF THIS PRESSURE, THE NIPPLE LEAKS AND SPRAYS A MIST OF FUEL OFF TO THE SIDE. THE PRESSURE LOOKS TO BE TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE AS THE CRACK THAT DEVELOPED WAS DIRECTLY ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE(DRIVERS). On Multiple occasions the Power Steering goes out and warning light on dash comes on. Very hard to steer without the PS on. This has happened on highways as well as in town in traffic. Sometimes it comes back in a few seconds on its own. Other times the car must be turned off and restarted, if you can get to a safe place. No codes appear when checked.

ON AUGUST 29TH WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 2010 MAZDA 3, GOING ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR, THE POWER STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, AND ALL THE WARNING/INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON. I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. I TRIED TO RE-START THE CAR, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND THE WARNING/INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON STEADY, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK WARNING LIGHT, WHICH WAS FLASHING RED. IT WAS NOT A BATTERY ISSUE BECAUSE THE RADIO AND LIGHTS WORKED FINE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MAZDA DEALER. THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT ACCESS THE PCM TO READ THE ERROR CODE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED, AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE PCM. I CALLED MAZDA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND COMPLAINED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PCM FAILURE DOES NOT RELATE TO THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP. THIS IS SIMILAR TO COMPLAIN #10461029. CAR FAILED TO START. MAZDA SENT TOW TRUCK. TOW TRUCK OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. TOW TRUCK OPERATOR DECLINED TO TOW THE CAR AND SENT DRIVER HOME. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SUSPENSION SPECIALIST AND FOUND ONLY ONE (1) PART OF THE SUSPENSION THAT MAY HAVE REQUIRED CORRECTING BUT WAS STILL IN GOOD CONDITION. I ASKED IF THE REMAINING SUSPENSION COMPONENTS WERE SAFE AND IF THEY WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT. AND THEY SAID'NO' ONLY ONE (1), AND IT WAS BARELY DAMAGED, BUT I REPLACED IT ANYWAY. TOOK IT BACK FOR AN OIL CHANGE SINCE THEY WERE TREATING ME HONESTLY. TWO DAYS LATER, AS I WAS LEAVING MY WORK, THE SEAT FELL OFF THE RIGHT RAIL AS I WAS DRIVING. IN RETROSPECT, THE PUSH NUTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE POPPED OFF AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK FRAME HAS LOST ITS INTEGRITY, SO I SAT ASKEW. UNABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY UNLESS A PIECE OF WOOD IS HOLDING THE SEAT TO THE RAIL. IS IT POSSIBLE TO STILL REPAIR MY CAR'S DRIVER'S SEAT UNDER THE AFOREMENTIONED SAFETY RECALL? I ENTERED MY CAR FIRST THING IN THE MORNING (AFTER A FAIRLY COLD NIGHT). THE CAR WAS STATIONARY OVERNIGHT SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I LOOKED OVER TO MY LEFT AND ON THE DASHBOARD OF THE PASSENGER SIDE, THERE WAS AN CRACK ABOUT 6-7 INCHES LONG ON TOP OF WHERE THE AIRBAG SITS. IN THE LIGHT, IT APPEARS THAT THE CRACK WILL SPREAD TO THE LEFT AND GROW SUBSTANTIALLY IN LENGTH/WIDTH. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BECOME AN INHIBITOR TO MAKING THE PASSENGER FUNCTION PROPERLY.

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated upon opening the driver's side door, she noticed that the front driver's side seat had independently moved closer to the steering wheel. The contact stated that the seat failed to move back to the original position after several attempts. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to squeeze herself into the seat and drove to the dealer, who informed the contact that the driver's side seat bolts needed to be broken to move the seat. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V082000 (Seats); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

EACH TIME A DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE SCHEDULED RECALL REPAIRS EACH DEALERSHIP HAD CALLED AND CANCELED THE RECALL REPAIRS WITH NO AVAILABILITY ON A RESCHEDULE DATE AVAILABLE. These vehicles have a foam based dash board which is falling off in pieces and sections . This can cause choking hazard in small children adults etc also if air bags where to deploy this section would more then likely explode in many hundreds of pieces causing blinding .As well as it decays or falls off in these pieces children may place objects in there mouths or chew or eat on .The dash board does not seem to be able ro handle a air bag deploy situation . I would have thought this would have been replaced or recalled prior to my intation of this matter. Also dash may contain harmful or chemical agents I'm it that would not be safe to child nor adult.

Said vehicle has 2 Recall issues that are listed as expired. 1. It has not had the defective Takata Air Bags replaced Campaign SSPB3 started 12/1/2017. 2. It has a Sticky Dashboard Campaign SSP99 started 11/30/2015. A third recall for a Seat Lifer Link was completed for Campaign 0917B on 9/13/2017. I would like Mazda to take responsibility for the 2 expired Recalls for the Air Bags and the Sticky Dashboard. Mazda had the vehicle in one of their service centers 9/17/2017 when the Seat Recall was completed. Mazda’s policy of checking for recalls failed otherwise these Recalls would have been completed. Both Recalls impact the safe operation of said vehicle.

I LIFTED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LEVER TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND NOTICE THAT THE LEVER CAME UP THE WHOLE WAY WITH VERY LITTLE RESISTANCE. I HAD NO IDEA WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING. YESTERDAY AFTER LOADING MY CAR I HEARD ANOTHER CLICK AND NOW BOTH FRONT WELDS ATTACHING MY DRIVERS SEAT TO THE FLOOR BOARD HAVE BROKEN OFF LEAVING MY DRIVERS CAR SEAT COMPLETELY UNATTACHED AT THE FRONT. MY CAR IS NOW EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND BASICALLY A ROCKING CHAIR. TODAY AS I AM REPORTING IS THE 3RD INCIDENT OF THIS TYPE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW, AND MY CAR NOW HAS ONLY 44 K MILES ON IT. THE TPMS SENSORS ON THE MAZDA 3 ARE CONNECTED TO THE AIR VALVE IN THE TIRES. TPMS SENSORS ARE VERY FICKLE AND TEND TO CORRODE AND BREAK WITH SEASONAL WEATHER. WHEN THE TPMS SENSOR BREAKS ON A MAZDA3, IT LETS ALL THE AIR OUT OF YOUR TIRE AND GIVES YOU A FLAT, STRANDING YOU WHEREVER YOU ARE. TPMS SENSORS ARE SUPPOSED TO AID DRIVERS TO LET THEM KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT IN THIS CASE, THEY ACTUALLY CAUSE THE PROBLEM. THE AIR VALVE BEING CONNECTED TO THE TPMS IS UNIQUE TO THE DESIGN OF THIS CAR, AND HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM FOR ME WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THIS CAN LEAD TO DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, DEPENDING ON HOW FAST THE CAR IS TRAVELING AND WHERE. I HAVE LOST AIR ON THE HIGHWAY AND BEEN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IN THE MAZDA 3, THE TPMS SENSOR IS CONNECTED TO THE AIR VALVE. THE TPMS SENSORS BREAK EASILY, CAUSING THE TIRE TO DEFLATE. IF THE OUTSIDE PART OF THE TPMS SENSOR BREAKS FROM CORROSION OR BEING HIT AGAINST A CURB, THE TIRE WILL DEFLATE. I HAVE HAD 3 TPMS SENSORS BREAK SINCE I HAD THE CAR, WHICH HAS ONLY BEEN 4 YEARS (APPROX 39,000 MILES), AND IS EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. MY TIRES ARE LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. THE PART OF THE TPMS EXPOSED ON THE OUTSIDE WILL CORRODE, AND IF THE OUTSIDE PART BREAKS OFF, YOUR TIRES DEFLATE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR MAZDA OWNERS. THESE THINGS BREAK AND THEN CAUSE A FLAT, LEAVING THE DRIVER IN A POSSIBLE EMERGENCY SITUATION. THE REASON FOR THE TPMS SENSOR IS SO DRIVERS DON'T HAVE BLOW OUTS, BUT THE EMERGENCY LIGHT IS VERY NONSPECIFIC, SO THE ONLY WAY YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS WHEN THE FLAT HAS ALREADY OCCURRED, WHICH IS UNNECESSARILY CAUSED BY THE TPMS SENSOR. THIS LATEST INCIDENT INVOLVED ME STRANDED IN THE COUNTRY, YET ANOTHER TPMS SENSOR REPLACEMENT ($200 APPROX), A NEW TIRE, AND AN ALIGNMENT - ALMOST $500 TOTAL. The a.b.s pump module is defective in these vehicles. There are tons of people having issues with them. When they fail it happens suddenly resulting in brake failure, power steering failure, the car does not like to shut off, the vehicle will go into "limp mode" and every light on the dash comes on. The part itself is costing close to $1000 u.s.d . With all of tge effected things tgat go with it i believe it can be very dangerous and should be recalled

The dashboards should be subject to a recall immediately since badly reduced visibility from glare is a recipe for an accident. The defective (melting) material is so bad that if the sun hits it just right, I can hardly see anything ahead of me; it is an accident waiting to happen. I called my Mazda dealer (Gray Epperson Mazda in Cleveland, TN (423) 303-1333) but said there was nothing they could do now as there was a warranty before but it had expired. I try to drive the car but always trying to avoid sunny conditions, but unfortunately, when I leave at 5pm conditions are worse if it's sunny. I wish Mazda would accept responsibility soon (or they are forced to do so by NHTSA, if needed) so that I wouldn't have to take such a risk.

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) has gone out on my car, causing it to shift to 2nd gear while doing 75mph with cars around me, and would no longer shift out of 2nd gear, or into reverse. It was an extremely dangerous situation that made me come very close to wrecking into a car, as well as the many cars behind me that had to emergency brake due to my rapid deceleration, especially without and brake lights coming on because it was engine braking. Doing a simple google search show that this is an extremely well-known problem effecting almost every Mazda 3 that used this TCM in 2010-2011. Any mechanic will tell you it's a known problem, and that it was due to where and how Mazda placed the computer, which causes it to overheat and fail without warning. I'm not sure why there has not been a recall on this issue with how prevalent it has been, and how easily recognized it is by mechanics. It is not a cheap fix, and can cause many other major issues leading up to requiring a full new transmission, if the problem did not already cause the car to wreck!

The contact owns a 2010 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated that the brake failed with the ABS warning light, traction control, and emergency brake light illuminated. The contact stated that the brake pedal was engaged and failed to bring the vehicle to a stop. The brake pedal was depressed twice before the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the traction control module and ABS module needed to be replaced. Additionally, the brake fluid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 150,000.

HAS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR HOME FROM WORK. DRIVING ABOUT 35MPH I STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AND THEN THE AT, ENGINE, TCS/DSC LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. WHEN I MADE IT HOME I LET IT SIT. WHILE I LOOKED INTO THE ISSUE ON GOOGLE LATER THAT EVENING I WENT BACK TO SEE IF MY CAR WAS STILL HAVING THE ISSUE. I PLACED THE CAR IN REVERSE AND MY CAR JUMPED/ JERKED REAL HARD. AS I LET GO OF THE BREAK I NOTICED MY CAR DIDN'T SLOWLY MOVE ON ITS OWN LIKE PRIOR. I ACTUALLY HAD TO PRESS THE GAS DOWN QUITE A BIT. MY CAR REVVED UP TO 3 MAKING A LOUD NOISE. THE CAR HAD NO POWER WOULD HARDLY MOVE. AS I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEMS AND LIGHT ISSUES IT WAS KINDA A SURPRISE HOW EASY IT WAS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. SINCE THIS IS A VERY VERY COMMON ISSUE FOUND WITH THE MAZDA CARS. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE THAT WHEN YOU ORDER THE PART AT OVER $600.00 IN THE DIRECTIONS THAT IS SENT THEY ACTUALLY RECOMMEND RELOCATING THE TCM TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION USING ZIPTIES. WENT TO HAVE CAR CODES READ ON MY CAR INFORMED THE GUY WHAT I BELIEVED IT TO BE AND THE MOST LIKELY WILL BE U0101 LOST COMMUNICATION WITH TCM, AND I WAS CORRECT.

OCCURS WHEN INTENTIONALLY DECELERATING (EASING OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND INITIATING BRAKING). RPMS JUMP TO 7 OR 8. ACCELERATION IMMEDIATELY DROPS AND STEADS AFTER TAPPING/APPLYING PRESSURE TO BRAKES. THIS DEFECT WILL ULTIMATELY RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH INJURY OR DEATH. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THIS WAS FIRST NOTICED. THE DEFECT WITH THE SEAT FRAME ALSO RENDERS THE SEAT BELT USELESS AND IS SAFETY HAZARD COMPOUNDED BY THE SEAT FRAME BREAKING LOOSE. THIS DEFECT APPEARS TO HAPPEN ONLY ON THE 2010 MAZDA 3 MODEL AND THERE ARE MANY ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS, BOTH HERE AND IN PUBLIC FORUMS. MAZDA NEEDS TO RECALL FOR REPLACEMENT OF A SEAT FRAME THAT IS BUILT SO AS NOT TO BREAK IN NORMAL USE. WHY THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED IS NEGLIGENT. UPON RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, LOCAL MECHANICS, I FOUND OUT THE HEATER BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR IS THE PROBLEM. I WAS GOING TO REPLACE IT, BUT UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT THIS HEATER ASSEMBLY IS NOT ONLY USED BY MAZDA, NISSAN, TOYOTA, CHEVY, FORD, AND LEXUS. THIS IS HEATER IS KNOWN TO HAVE THIS DESIGN ERROR. ALSO THE DEALER HAD UNPLUGGED THE HEATER BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR BECAUSE THIS UNIT IS KNOWN TO START A FIRE IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD MY 2010 MAZDA 3S SINCE JUNE OF 2010 WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEW. I DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK EVERY DAY. I HAVE 26,000 MILES ON IT, 75% OF WHICH ARE HIGHWAY MILES. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK LAST WEEK, AND NOTICED SOMETHING WITH THE CAR FELT OFF. EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK IT GOT WORSE AND WORSE, SO I FINALLY BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME, AS I SUSPECTED, THAT THE CLUTCH WAS SLIPPING AND NEARING THE END OF ITS LIFE. I HAVE YET TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS ON THIS CAR, AND TO GET TOLD THAT THE CLUTCH IS GONE BEFORE I EVEN REPLACE NORMAL MAINTENANCE ITEMS IS JUST FLAT OUT UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS NOT A ONE-OFF CASE, AND IT IS CERTAINLY NOT A "WEAR AND TEAR" ISSUE AS THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS. THAT'S THEIR BLANKET COVER-THEIR-[XXX]STATEMENT BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY PUT OUT A POOR PRODUCT AND DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE COSTS INCURRED WITH REPLACING THEM. ON 11/4, I WAS ON MY WAY TO MEET MY YOGA CLASSMATE FOR LUNCH AT 1917 BISTRO. THE RESTAURANT'S PARKING LOT WAS FULL. SO, I BACKED OUT AND CIRCLED THE BLOCK TO FIND ANOTHER PARKING SPACE.
