TUESDAY, 11/27/18, MORNING MY CAR (100,00 TOTAL MILES DRIVEN) STARTED TO MAKE A PERIODIC SQUEAKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TO WORK. I THEN TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT SAME MORNING TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS COMING FROM MY DRIVE BELT AND PULLEYS. THEY REFERRED ME TO THE FOLLOWING LINK: HTTPS://WWW.CARS.COM/RECALLS/MITSUBISHI-LANCER-2008/. ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE, MY CAR HAS A RECALL FOR THE DRIVE BELT AND PULLEYS. SO I WENT ON MITSUBISHI'S RECALL WEBSITE TO PUT IN MY VID NUMBER, BUT IT WAS SHOWING THAT MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. SO I PROCEEDED TO HAVE THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP REPAIR MY CAR ACCORDING TO THE RECALL INSTRUCTIONS SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE THAT HE REFERRED ME TO, WHICH INVOLVES REPLACING THE DRIVE BELT, PULLEYS, AND DRIVE BELT TENSIONER. IT SEEMED TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT THE NEXT DAY (11/28) ON MY BACK HOME FROM WORK, I STARTED HEARING ANOTHER NOISE AFTER COMING OFF THE FREEWAY. I NOTICED THAT MY DRIVE BELT HAD BEEN TORN. PLEASE REFER TO THE ATTACHED PICTURE. SO I CONTACTED THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP TO LOOK INTO IT AGAIN. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVE BELT AGAIN, BUT RECOMMENDED THAT I TRY TO CONTACT MITSUBISHI AGAIN. ACCORDING TO THEM, THE SYMPTOMS MATCH THE INFORMATION IN THE RECALL, BUT AGAIN, MITSUBISHI'S WEBSITE SAYS THAT MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS RECALL. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT, I HAD MY DRIVE BELT AND BATTERY REPLACED. IS MITSUBISHI IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS? Our car crashed after getting off the highway in NJ. This appears to be related to Safety Recall Report 20V-279. The cross member has completely rusted and the driver side control arm came off, crashing the car and severely damaging the car, with loss of control. I have contacted Mitsubishi Motors but have received no response from them. There was no warning sign, and the car was on the highway at highway speeds before an exit ramp was taken when the car crashed.

HAVE DONE TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE ASK REQUESTED IN MANUAL, HOWEVER IF ITS A HOT DAY AND YOU DO 65 THE TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO GRIND, THEN IT SLOW YOU DOWN. I RECEIVED 3 LETTERS IN THE MAIL REGARDING A IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL CONCERNING MY DRIVE BELT SYSTEM I CALLED THE LOCAL MITSUBISHI DEALER SHIP AS WELL AS THEIR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PART THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED IS ON BACK ORDER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR AND ITS BEEN SINCE OCT 2014 ITS OVER 6 MONTHS AND I'VE NOT HEARD FROM EITHER THE DEALER SHIP OR THE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS. EVERY TIME YOU CALL AND ASK FOR AN UPDATE THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE A CONFIRMED TIME WHEN THE PART WILL BE IN STOCK AND THEY CONTINUE TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND. WHILE COMING OF THE OFF-RAMP, THE VEHICLE LOST PRESSURE IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING FROM THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER. IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER IN 2008 MITSUBISHI LANCER ES (BASE MODEL) IS THE SAME AS ONE BEING RECALLED IN 2008-2013 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION X. THIS IS A SECOND TIME THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER HAS FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WOULD LIKE FOR MITSUBISHI CORP. TO LOOK INTO THE RECALLING BASE MODELS FOR THIS ISSUE AS THEY HAVE IN THE FOLLOWING SR-13-009. I LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE DUE TO SNOW AND SLUSH OFF A TRACTOR TRAILER HITTING THE BACK END OF MY CAR. THE TRACTOR TRAILER WAS GOING ABOUT 80MPH PAST ME AS I WAS GOING ONLY 60MPH, DUE TO MY CAR BEING FRONT WHEEL DRIVE IT CAUSED ME TO SPIN OUT AND LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I CROSSED INTO THE LEFT LANE OF TRAFFIC (NOT HITTING ANYONE) AND THEN BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE WHERE I THEN PROCEEDED TO GO OFF THE ROAD DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. I BASHED MY HEAD AGAINST THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AS I LOST CONTROL, I THEN HIT MY HEAD AGAIN AGAINST THE WINDOW AS THE REAR END OF MY CAR HIT A TREE STOMP. We had car at a car dealer and the manufacturer declined doing the recall on the car for corrison on the front crossmember, telling us due to car has a total loss record on Carfax. The vehicle total loss record was for a accident that didn't effect that part of the car that's under recall, it was due to vehicle repairs were more then what car was worth. The piece I think they call it crossmember has rust holes through it and is about to come apart at the rusted holes on the part. We buy the car JA3AU86U18U016308 in 2022 for our daughter to drive to college. Just finding out when we took it into the car place to perform this recall they won't do the recall because of Mitsubishi. I filled this out for my dad, he bought car for me.

DURING MY LAST TWO VISIT WITH TECHNICIAN (LAST ONE WITH MITSUBISHI DEALER, AND ONE BEFORE WITH OTHER SERVICE PLACE), THE VEHICLE TECHNICIAN NOTICE EXCESSIVELY RUSTED CROSS-MEMBER. THE TECHNICIAN AT MITSUBISHI DEALER ALSO PUT THE NOTE IN "COMPUTERIZED VEHICLE REPORT". WHEN I ASKED THE TECHNICIAN ABOUT HOW BAD IS THIS AND HOW TO FIX THIS, HE MENTIONED THAT OTHER MITSUBISHI LANCER VEHICLES ARE AFFECTING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING VEHICLES YEAR BY YEAR, SO HOPE THEY WILL RECALL THIS MODEL TOO. AND FOR SAFETY, I NEED TO MAKE SURE TO KEEP EYE AND NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO ANY CHANGE TO VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AS THIS MAY CRACK AND I AM END UP IN ACCIDENT. *TR*JB

PAINT ON THE SIDES OF THE CAR HAS THOUSANDS OF ROCK CHIPS AT ONLY 9000 MILES. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN THROUGH GRAVEL AND HAS NOT BEEN SUBJECTED TO EXTREME ROAD CONDITIONS. I FIRST NOTICED THE DAMAGE OCCURRING AT ABOUT 5000 MILES AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE AGREED THAT IT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING AND THOUGHT IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE PAINT. THEY CONTACTED MITSU USA AND WERE TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE FOR ANY CORRECTIVE ACTION. FURTHER INVESTIGATION HAS REVEALED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE GTS MODELS AND IS DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. BECAUSE THE CAR IS WIDER AT THE REAR THAN THE FRONT AND NO ROCK DEFLECTORS WERE INCORPORATED INTO THE DESIGN, THE REAR OF THE CAR IS LITERALLY GETTING SAND BLASTED BY THE FRONT TIRES. THE ONLY RECOURSE I WAS OFFERED WAS TO HAVE THE CAR REPAINTED AT MY OWN EXPENSE WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD NOT REOCCUR. MITSUBISHI NEEDS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM, REPAIR THE DAMAGED AREAS AND INSTALL ROCK DEFLECTORS AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. *TR

THE CONTROL ARM WAS CORRODED AND SPRING RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE. HAD REPAIRED IN MARCH OF 2019. SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER RECALL. SENT INVOICE AND RECEIPT TO MITSUBISHI HOWEVER THEY ARE SAYING IT DID NOT MEET TIME FRAME FOR REPAIR AND ARE REFUSING TO REFUND ANY OF MY REPAIR COSTS.

I HAVE HAD AN 08 MITSUBISHI LANCER GTS FOR A YEAR NOW AND HAVE HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR PULLING LEFT SINCE THE VERY FIRST WEEK I OWNED IT. I'VE HAD THE CAR ALIGNED 5 TIMES NOW AND NO SUCCESS. THE CAR WILL DRIVE FINE FOR LESS THAN A WEEK AND IT STARTS TO PULL LEFT AGAIN, SOMETIMES DRIVING OFF THE LOT AFTER AN ALIGNMENT, IT WOULD STILL NOT BE CORRECTED. MY TIRES ARE WEARING UNEVENLY ON THE OUTSIDE EDGES AS WELL, AND ARE NOW THE TIRES ARE WORN DOWN TO THE TREAD INDICATORS. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR ON MY WAY HOME I NOTICE THAT THE CAR IS PULLING TO THE LEFT. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD MY THAT THE AIR IN MY LEFT TIRE IS LOW ON AIR. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK THIS MORNING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I FELT A DRASTIC PULL TO THE LEFT. I GET OUT OF THE CAR AND LOOK AT ALL SIDES OF THE VEHICLE AND DON'T NOTICE ANYTHING RIGHT AWAY. THEN I NOTICE MY LEFT FRONT WHEEL IS TURNED SLIGHTLY WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT. I LOOK UNDER THE VEHICLE TO FIND THE SUB FRAME ROTTED AND RUSTED AWAY FROM THE CONTROL ARM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS THIS CAR HAS 123K MILES AND BEING A 2008 CAR, JUST 1 YEAR LATER THAN THE RECALLS CURRENTLY UP TO 2007 FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THE 2008 VEHICLES AS WELL DUE TO THE INSANE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SPECIFIC SUB FRAME ROTTING ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING ON BACK STREET THE CAR STARTED PULLING DRAMATICALLY TO THE LEFT. ON FURTHER INSPECTION IT WAS NOTICED THAT WHERE THE WHEEL CONNECTS TO THE SUBFRAME THERE WAS EXCESSIVE ROT THE POINT THE WHEEL WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SUBFRAME. CONTACTED MITSUBISHI. THEY SAID THE LANCER (AND OTHER MODELS) HAD A RECALL ON EXCESSIVE SUBFRAME ROT BUT ONLY YEARS 2002 TO 2007 FOR THE LANCER. MINE BEING 2008 IS NOT RECALLED. I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS $2000. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE SUBFRAME HOLDS THE WHEELS ON, AND THE ENGINE IN PLACE AND IT HAD A CATISTROPIC FAILURE WHICH COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND LOSS OF LIFE. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS OR I COULD HAVE INFORMED MY MECHANIC TO CAREFULLY LOOK FOR SUBFRAME ROT (MOST INSPECTIONS ARE JUST BY SITE). HAD ANYONE HIT THIS SUBFRAME WITH A HAMMER THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN IT WAS DISSINTEGRATING. THE CAR DOES LOOK LIKE ITS RECALLED IN CANADA " TRANSPORT CANADA RECALL 2016317, WHICH WAS ISSUED ON JUNE 21, 2016. THE RECALL INVOLVES 64,305 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER AND LANCER MODELS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2003 AND 2013." MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER RELATIONS HAS INFORMED ME TODAY THAT I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. FAILURE OF A SUBFRAME IS A VERY RARE EVENT. ITS CLEAR THIS SUBFRAME HAS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS THE LANCERS BUILT THE YEAR BEFORE. THE OUTLANDER ALSO HAS THE EXACT SAME SUBFRAME. THE DEALER HAS MY SUBFRAME IN STOCK BECAUSE ITS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE OUTLANDER (WHICH IS COVERED). I HAVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE MITSUBISHI MOTORS I BOUGHT MY CAR TWO YEARS AGO IN 2007 AND THE CAR IS A 2008 MITSUBISHI LANCE AND RIGHT NOW THE CAR SAYING THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM. THE CAR CONSUMES ALOT OF GAS FOR EXAMPLE YESTERDAY I PUT TEN DOLLARS IN THE AFTERNOON AND IN THE NIGHT I DIDN'T HAVE ANY GAS. The contact owns a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that after a while the system would erase any safety information used to track mileage and only show the GPS feature on the digital screen with information from 2004. The contact stated he used the digital screen for the safety features. Upon further inspection, the battery would be drained at an abnormal rate while using the Bluetooth features, and the Bluetooth would not work outside of the local dealer parking lot. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the digital screen and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

The airbags light came on after I bought the car and I am afraid of I get in an accident they will not deploy my mechanic said I would have to go to a car dealership about it... The brakes also fail if I try to stop abruptly they go to the floor and do not stop the vehicle... The brakes are the worst when I am driving slowly and try to come to a stop. I have taken my car to the dealership and was told that my brakes are in good condition and the mechanic didn't understand why the car was having issues stopping.

IN 2015 MY 2008 MITSUBISHI LANCER DID NOT PASS CA STATE SMOG. MY LOCAL MECHANIC DID THE NECESSARY TESTS AS DIRECTED BY THE LOCAL STATE REFEREE, THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE 02 SENSOR. ENDED UP BEING DIRECTED BY REFEREE TO MITSUBISHI OF EL CAJON AND PAID $125.00 FOR THEM TO TEST IT. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEN WAS TOLD TO MAKE APPT WITH THE REFEREE ON YET ANOTHER DAY FOR THEM TO TEST IT AND ENDED UP RECEIVING A 2YR PASS BECAUSE THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT COMPLETE RUN TEST. REPORT STATES: FAILED DUE TO VEHICLE OBD SYSTEM HAS NOT SET THE READINESS MONITOR(S). I DID NIT HAVE TJE MONEY TO FIX THE ISSUE IN 2015 SO HAD TO KEEP IT PARKED UNTIL NOV 2016 FROM WHICH POINT THE ABOVE WAS DONE. NOW ITS 2YRS LATER IT'S STILL NOT PASSING. ON WEDNESDAY MORNING 4/24/2013 AFTER NIGHT SHIFT I WENT OUTSIDE TO START MY CAR 5-10 MINUTES EARLY JUST LIKE ANY OTHER TIME PRIOR TO DRIVING. THE NEXT DAY I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO D'AMBROSIO MITSUBISHI FOR THEIR TECHNICIANS TO LOOK AT IT AND REPAIR IT. THEY DID THE USUAL MAINTNENCE OIL CHANGE, FLUID CHECK, TIRE ROTATION ETC LIKE I HAVE DONE EVER 2500 MILES. THE TECHNICIANS DISCOVERED THE S-AWC PUMP HAD SEIZED UP AND THAT THE PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HE STATED IT WOULD COST $2500.00 TO REPLACE, I ASKED WHAT I HAD DONE TO CAUSE SUCH A CATASTROPHIC EVENT; THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS A FLAW CAUSED BY MITSUBISHI AND THERE WAS NOTHING I HAD DONE OR DID NOT DO TO CAUSE THIS. MY SON WAS ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE BRAKES STARTED TO PULSE UNCONTROLLABLY, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN DOWN TO THE FLOOR. ALSO THE ABS LIGHT LIT UP. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO THE DEALER THAT THE ABS WAS THE REASON WE HAD THE ACCIDENT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND THAT WAS WHEN THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM STARTED. THERE WAS A BILL FOR $423 THAT WE HAD TO PAY BECAUSE THE DEALER INSISTED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE ACCIDENT. I WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH MITSUBISHI TO SEE IF THIS CAN BE RECTIFIED. THE CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT VERY STRONGLY, AND HAVE HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP 3-4 TIMES TO HAVE THEM TRY AND FIX IT WITH NO AVAIL. THEY ALIGNED IT AND ROTATED THE TIRES, BUT THIS FIXED NOTHING. I STRESSED MY CONCERN WITH THIS THAT THE TIRES WOULD WEAR OUT FAST SINCE IT ISN'T ALIGNED RIGHT, AND NOW, AT 4300 MILES, ALL FOUR TIRES ARE WORN OUT BAD, FEATHERED ON THE OUTSIDE, AND INSIDE IS ALMOST DOWN TO 2/32NDS, AND THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MITUSBISHI THEMSELVES, AND AFTER REVIEWING THE CASE, SAID THE CAR IS FINE, AND ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE EVEN WEAR AND THEY CLOSED THE CASE, EVEN THOUGH ALL THE TIRES ARE WORN OUT DIFFERENT, SOME WORSE THAN OTHERS, AND THE CAR STILL PULLS TO THE LEFT. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 MITSUBISHI LANCER. IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT NOTICED WATER ENTERING THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE CABIN. ALSO, THE TIRES HAVE PREMATURE TREAD WEAR. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND PERFORMED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, THE TIRE TREAD DISPLAYED ABNORMAL WEAR AGAIN. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REALIGN THE TIRES AND REPLACE ALL FOUR AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED BECAUSE THE DEALER CANNOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
