THE FOLLOWING IS A RESULT OF A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION FLUID DIPSTICK ACKNOWLEDGED BY MITSUBISHI AND ADDRESSED BY A SERVICE BULLETIN. THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL OF THE DIPSTICK. (HTTPS://MITSUBISHITECHINFO.COM/DATA/TECH_DOCS/2010/52005696/HTML/520056966.HTM) AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEEDS, 70MPH AND UNDER, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED AND A SLOW DOWN WARNING APPEARED. I PULLED OVER, LIFTED THE HOOD AND LET IT COOL DOWN FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES; THE WARNING HAD DISAPPEARED. I RESUMED DRIVING AT SPEEDS 45 AND UNDER, AND WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL THE TRANSMISSION WHINED VERY LOUDLY AND I LOST SO MUCH POWER THAT THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW TO A STOP ON THE ROAD. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO AVOID BEING STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE SLOW DOWN LIGHT WAS NOT ON, BUT I DID RECEIVE ENGINE CODE P0741. IN ANOTHER INCIDENT, I LET IT COOL DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE THEN TOOK AN EXIT. WITH NO SLOW DOWN WARNING, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WHINED VERY LOUDLY AND THE CAR STOPPED MOVING FORWARD. AN 18 WHEELER WAS ONCOMING AND WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP. THANKFULLY, THE CAR WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY OUT OF THE WAY, BUT IT WAS CLOSE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY SIMILAR INCIDENTS. THE TRANSMISSION HAS FREQUENTLY OVERHEATED SINCE I'VE HAD IT WHEN IT HAD ONLY 30,000 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTERS HAVE BEEN REGULARLY CHANGED PER THE OWNER'S MANUAL. WHILE IT HAS A REBUILT TITLE, THERE WAS ONLY EXTERIOR DAMAGE AND NO PART OF THE POWER TRAIN WAS EVER DAMAGED. I DISCOVERED THE SERVICE BULLETIN FROM RESEARCH AND FORUMS. MANY OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE, BUT MOST JUST ASSUMED THE FLUID NEEDED TO BE CHANGED MORE THAN THE MANUAL RECOMMENDED. THE DEFECT AND THE OVERHEATING THAT RESULTS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I'VE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED. IT'S AN ORIGINAL FACTORY DEFECT THAT IS COMPLETELY UNAFFECTED BY MILEAGE OR WEAR AND TEAR

S-AWC PUMP HAS A CORRODIBLE HOUSING AND IS PLACED IN AN AREA THAT IS EXPOSED TO SALT AND WATER FROM THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE WHEEL. THE PLACEMENT OF THE PUMP IS A DESIGN FLAW AND HAS LED TO SEVERE CORROSION OF THE PUMP HOUSING AND FAILURE OF THE PUMP. THE FAILURE OF THE PUMP COMPLETELY DISABLES BOTH THE ACTIVE CENTER DIFFERENTIAL AND THE ACTIVE YAW CONTROL SYSTEMS, BOTH OF WHICH ARE INTENDED TO ASSIST THE DRIVER IN CONTROLLING THE CAR UNDER ADVERSE HANDLING SITUATIONS.

MITSUBISHI LANCER DCT470 SST TRANSMISSION RECALL - MY TRANSMISSION LOST EVEN GEARS WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THE CAR SELECTED A LOWER GEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. I PULLED OVER TO TROUBLESHOOT AND EVENTUALLY MADE IT HOME. THIS COSTLY REPAIR FORCED ME TO BUY ANOTHER CAR AND HAVE SINCE LEFT THE REPAIR UNATTENDED. THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE PROBLEM IS SO COMMON THAT A PETITION WAS STARTED TO HELP THOSE OTHERS THAT WERE ALSO AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS A SHIFT FORK MAGNET BECOMES DISLOCATED FROM THE BRACKET AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO SELECT EVEN GEARS. IN ORDER TO REPAIR, A SPECIALIST MUST DISASSEMBLE AND REBUILD THE CASE. IT IS NOT CAUSED FROM ANY MAINTENANCE NEGLECT NOR DRIVING HABIT OR ABUSE. IT CAN OCCUR IN ALL MODELS WITH THIS SPECIFIC TRANSMISSION. IT IS A WORLDWIDE ISSUE INCLUDING CANADA & AUSTRALIA. I HAVE NOT YET REPAIRED MY PERSONAL TRANSMISSION AND HOPE TO DO SO IN THE FUTURE. THERE'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION FAILED UNDER WARRANTY AT 90,000 MILES AND WAS REPLACED FREE. TRANSMISSION HAS NOW FAILED AGAIN AT 120,000 MILES AND DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE.

TAKATA RECALL SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR THE ACD PUMP HAS BEEN FINE. BACK IN SEPTEMBER THE RED TRIANGLE CAME ON AND I DID SOME RESEARCH TO FIND OUT WHAT IT MEANT. I BARLEY DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE. IT SEEMS SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM TOO. MITSUBISHI WANTS TO CHARGE ME $800-$1200 TO FIX IT. I REFUSE TO PAY THIS AMOUNT AFTER SEEING EVERYONE ELSE HAS THIS SAME ISSUE.

I WENT TO A RECALL SERVICE FOR SUNROOF AND DRIVE BELT ON APRIL 09,2018.TODAY, AFTER ONE YEAR I'M WAITING YET FOR THE MITSUBISHI CALL BECAUSE THE PARTS WAS UNAVAILABLE, SO THEY ORDERED THEM. I CALLED MANY TIMES, THEY SAID THE DRIVE BELT ARRIVED BUT NOT THE SUNROOF. THEY HAVE THE DRIVE BELT AND DID NOT CALL ME TO INSTALL IT. MY A/C COMPRESSOR STOP WORKING, I'M NOT SURE BUT SOMEBODY TOLD THAT THIS DRIVE BELT AND A/C COMPRESSOR WORKS TOGETHER. WE HAVE ISSUES WITH THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTIONING. THEY WOULD CUT OFF WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. WOULD STAY ON WHEN CAR AND LIGHTS WERE TURNED OFF AND WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE RELAY OUT TO GET THEM TURNED OFF. THEY WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS ON OR OFF. REPLACED NUMEROUS RELAYS, RETURNED MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH THREE TIMES. THIS CAUSED OUR SON TO HAVE A WRECK AS THE LOW BEAMS LIGHTS TURNED OFF AND A CAR NOT SEEING HIM PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HIM. STARTED A 1 1/2 YEARS AGO, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS TURNING OFF AND NOTHING BEING DONE. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED ON NOV, 2008. REFERENCE R/2015/157. RIGHT NOW IS UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DURING NIGHTS. The contact owns a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that after the vehicle had sat for over five days undriven, the vehicle had to be jump started. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the Bluetooth connection module was draining the battery and that the module needed to be removed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS RECALLED, BUT ACCORDING TO MITSUBISHI MOTORS, MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR YESTERDAY AND HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART THAT SHOWS IT WAS RECALLED IN MITSUBISHI'S SAFETY RECALL BULLETIN SR−15−003 DATED JUNE 2015. I CONTACTED MITUSUBISHI DIRECTLY, AND THE REPRESENTATIVE I SPOKE WITH TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL. THIS IS FRUSTRATING, AS I HAVE THE DEFECTIVE BLOWER MOTOR WHICH IS CLEARLY MARKED WITH THE RECALLED NUMBER. I BELIEVE MITSUBISHI MISSED SOME CARS IN THEIR RECALL. MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN JUNE 2008, WHICH MAKES IT AN EARLY 2009 MODEL. I WOULD LIKE REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE NEW REPLACEMENT BLOWER MOTOR I HAD TO PURCHASE. I HAVE RECEIPTS AND THE FAULTY MOTOR.

The contact owns a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated while driving at night, the low-beam headlights turned off and turned on independently, causing a visibility hazard for the driver. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V232000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 110,000.

IT SAYS IN THE RECALL THAT A DETACHED FRONT CONTROL ARM CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF CRASH. MY CAR WAS EXPOSED TO SNOW MELT AND ANTI-FREEZING AGENTS FOR TWO YEARS IN SOUTH KOREA, ONE TEAR IN MISSOURI, AND SEVEN YEARS IN NEW YORK. OAHU DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO HELP AND SAID THAT THIS RECALL APPLIES TO THE CARS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN JAPAN ONLY. I CALLED NJ DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY SAID THAT WE SHOULD BRING THE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY AND THEY WILL HELP WITH THIS SAFETY RECALL. ABS BRAKE MODULATOR WAS A KNOWN FAULTY DESIGN PER MITSUBISHI. AN UPDATED UNIT WITH NEW MODEL NUMBER ALLEDGEDLY FIXES THE COMMON PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNDER RECALL. MY CAR HAS ONLY 55,000 MILES AND THESE PUMPS SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR NORMALLY. THE COST TO REPLACE IS $1800 WHICH IS MUCH HIGHER THAN MOST MAKES AND MODELS.

The contact owns a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated while the vehicle was having a routine oil change at the dealer, the mechanic stated that rear crossmember bar was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact was informed that the front crossmember bar needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 116,000. The consumer stated while the mechanic was attempting to change the front cross member started taking the front end apart, he said he had stripped a bolt on the catalytic converter. Also, the dealer charged the consumer for a new catalytic converter without permission. A new appointment was made on 12/14/2022 to fix the damages at their cost.

THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR A 2009 LANCER, SR-15-002, FOR THE ECU BUT BECAUSE OF THE PART NUMBER (8637A826) DIFFERENCE THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE MY ECU THAT IS FAULTY. UPON FURTHER PERSONAL INVESTIGATION I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL ISSUES SURROUNDING THE ECU FOR LANCERS;10091781, 10158957, 10142736, 10117850, 10158956, 10158955, 10142736, 10158957. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO CUTRUBUS MITSUBISHI DEALER IN LAYTON, UT TO HAVE MY CAR MAINTENANCED FOR RECALLED PARTS ON 11 AUGUST 2015, WHICH WAS THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT THEY HAD AVAILABLE AFTER RECALL NOTIFICATION. TOOK VEHICLE IN AT 08:00 AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE CAR COULD NOT BE DETERMINED IF IT WAS ONE OF THE DEFECTED VEHICLES UNTIL 12:00 THAT DAY. WHEN ASKED IF I COULD GET A LOAN VEHICLE IN ORDER TO GO BACK TO WORK, CUTRUBUS DEALER DENIED. THEY ALSO STATED IF MY CAR HAD THE DEFECTIVE PARTS IT COULD TAKE 48 HOURS TO FIX MY VEHICLE AND STILL DENIED A LOANER VEHICLE. I COULD NOT LEAVE MY CAR TO HAVE THE SAFETY RECALL FIXED DUE TO BEING ACTIVE DUTY IN THE AIR FORCE AND BEING A SINGLE PARENT, I CAN NOT GO WITHOUT A VEHICLE. The car started to slow down on its own even when my foot was on the gas it wouldn’t pick up speed over 20mph then it started to over heat, then smoke. It sounded like sparks like from a firecracker and smelt like something was burning to the point I had to pull over and turn the car off so my children and I could get out and breathe. When I restarted it turned on but would not drive when put into gear. I had it towed and the next day I tried again only this time the battery was dead and nothing was left on in the car I couldn’t understand how this happened so I bought a new battery put it in and it started still wouldn’t move though so I gave it a few days went to try again and the new battery was dead like something was draining all the power.

WHEN I HIT THE PILLAR IN FRONT OF ME, THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY AND MY SEATBELT DID NOT TIGHTEN AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON THE CA IS-15 NORTH AT APPROXIMATELY 5:55 PM PST BETWEEN THE EXITS OF 138/WRIGHTWOOD AND THE ROUTE 395/JOSHUA STREET EXIT. I WAS TRAVELING IN THE FAST LANE GOING ABOUT 68-72 MPH. I GOT A "SERVICE REQUIRED" ERROR LIGHT FLASHING, THEN THE "SLOW DOWN" LIGHT CAME ON WITH A PICTURE OF A THERMOMETER. I CHECKED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE (WHICH IS DISPLAYED ON THE LED SCREEN BY THE SPEEDOMETER, NOT THE USUAL INDEPENDENT GAUGE) AND THE TEMPERATURE SHOWED THAT IT WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, WHICH SHOULD BE WORKING GREAT. I SLOWED DOWN TO 50 MPH AS I MERGED FROM THE #1 (FAST) LANE TO THE SLOW LANE BY THE ROAD SHOULDER AND MY ENGINE LOST POWER. LUCKILY I HAD ENOUGH POWER TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULD BEFORE THE USUAL LINE OF SEMI-TRUCKS BLEW PAST ME. I CHECKED THE COOLANT, OIL, AND CTV TRANS FLUID LEVELS, ALL WERE AT CAPACITY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME WAS THIS SAME TIME LAST YEAR (AUGUST, 2012). I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN JULY 2012. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED THE DEALERSHIP (VICTORVILLE MITSUBISHI) FIXED IT UNDER TSB 10-23-005. AT THAT POINT THE CAR ONLY HAD 46,000 MILES ON IT. THE FRONT OUTER TIE ROD AND THE BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FRONT TIRES CONTINUED TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,178.

I WAS DRIVING FROM DALLAS, TX, TO EL PASO, TX IN MY 2009 MITSUBISHI RALLIART. AROUND 3PM AND WITH AN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE OF APPROX 99 DEGREES FARENHEIT (BASED ON THE DISPLAY READOUT ON THE CAR). I NOTICED A VERY VERY STRONG RAW FUEL OR GAS SMELL COMING IN FROM THE VENTS. THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON, SO I TURNED IT TO RECIRCULATING AIR, IT PERSISTED, SO I TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONER OFF, BUT THE VERY STRONG GASOLINE SMELL, TO MY AMAZEMENT, PERSISTED. 2 PASSENGERS (MY ELDERLY DAD 76, AND MY LITTLE SISTER, 18) ALSO NOTICED THE SMELL. THE SMELL LASTED AROUND 5 MINUTES, AND WE WERE FORCED TO OPEN ALL THE 4 WINDOWS, EVEN STILL THE SMELL WAS STRONG ENOUGH AND KEPT ON GOING. I STARTED FEELING LIGHTHEADED, SO I TOLD MY DAD, THE PASSENGER THAT I HAS TO PULL OVER (I LITERALLY FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO FAINT). WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND STEP AWAY FROM THE CAR. LATER I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE STRONG GAS SMELL DIDNT RETURN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE. ONE OF MY PASSENGERS REPORTED A HEADACHE THAT SAME NIGHT. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED 2 OR 3 TIMES BEFORE (LAST SUMMER). PLEASE LOOK INTO IT ASAP. THANK YOU. SINCERELY. I WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE, I WAS ON THE LEFT HAND LANE WHEN I LOOKED THROUGH THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED A VEHICLE BEHIND DOING ABOUT 80-90 MILES PER HOUR. I MERGED TO THE MIDDLE LANE SO THAT THEY COULD CONTINUE ON. THEY WERE RECKLESSLY DRIVING AND THEY SWERVED TO MY LANE, I PROCEEDED TO SWERVE TO AVOID GETTING HIT AND WHEN I TRIED TO HIT THE BRAKES THEY JAMMED ON ME. I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT THE RIGHT DIVIDER WITH THE FRONT OF MY CAR, THE CAR PROCEEDED TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND EVERY ANGLE OF THE CAR WAS HIT WITH DIVIDER AND THEN I ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE LANE FACING TRAFFIC. ONLY 3 OUT OF 8 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE MAIN AIRBAG WHICH WAS THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG AND KNEE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR IS CLAIMED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS BY GEICO. *TR
