While I have had no issues so far, the recall has been in place since September 2024, and Nissan has not provided a fix. This is far too long.

Nissan has told it's customers to not fast charge the vehicle due to the risk of a battery fire, which is a big issue if you are trying to drive a longer distance. No ability to safely fast charge this vehicle makes it worthless unless you use it locally only. Nissan has promised a remedy for this situation, first deadline was March 2025, but they have consistently delayed this action. Something needs to be done in order to rectify this issue. I do not feel safe fast charging this vehicle, and it's pretty worthless to me as a primary vehicle.

Back up camera stops working randomly, displays blank screen. Was supposedly fixed by dealer in recall repair. Problem still occurs.

This is a follow-up to my last complaint because I never received a response. A year ago, Nissan issued a safety recall for some 2019 and 2020 Nissan Leafs that they still don't have a remedy for (Manufacturer Recall # R24B2; NHTSA Recall # 24V-700). This recall instructs affected owners not to DC-fast charge our vehicles, which means we can't DRIVE our vehicles in many applications. Nissan is supposedly always "finalizing" this remedy, and the remedy is supposedly always "coming soon." Then, when the promised release date comes and goes, Nissan just announces a new future release-date for their still non-existent remedy. This has been happening for a year. Owners are supposed to just not use our vehicles the way they were advertised. We're supposed to just not drive our vehicles on trips requiring a DC-fast charge, even though the ability to DC-fast charge is one of the reasons we bought this car. How is this legal? Is the NHTSA planning to do anything to make Nissan issue a remedy for this safety recall?

I purchased a 2019 Nissan LEAF in January 2024 and registered it with the DMV. Nissan never notified me of Recall R24B2, despite federal requirements that current registered owners be contacted. Because I was not notified, I used Level 3 quick charging more than 50 times before learning of the recall. The recall states that using fast charging can pose a fire hazard and risk of injury or death. Nissan’s failure to notify me placed me, my children, my passengers, and vehicles parked near me at charging stations in danger. Nissan has admitted that they never notified me, and I have written confirmation from them and from NHTSA that manufacturers are required to notify all registered owners. Nissan has still not provided a concrete remedy or addressed compensation for the danger and hardship caused. This is not just a defect — it is negligence and a serious consumer safety failure. I request that NHTSA investigate Nissan’s failure to notify owners and require Nissan to provide both a timely remedy and financial compensation.

The current recall is over 1 year old and there has been no response from Nissan on Remedy of Battery Recall. The Nissan Dealer and Nissan Help has been unresponsive.

Nissan originally notified LEAF owners of a battery cell safety issue more than a year ago. The original solution was promised around March 2025 (six months ago now). This recall has been outstanding for more than a year and limits the long-range driving capabilities of the affected cars. My primary complaint is that Nissan has not addressed this issue in a timely manner and the online information shows outdated status (i.e. "NISSAN IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING A REMEDY PLAN THAT IS EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE by March 2025.). Clearly they are well past this anticipated solution time frame. It makes me wonder if they are doing ANYTHING.

Inability to use an advertised feature. They advertised 50Kwh CHAdeMO charging to me when I bought the car and now, they're asking me to not use it, I wouldn't accept this with anything else. Smaller dealers won't buy a car under active recall because many times they cannot sell a car under an active recall, which means I'm forced to go to a larger (probably Nissan) dealer only? Additionally, if I were to try to sell as a private party I wouldn't feel right selling a car under active recall and/or not disclosing there's an active recall which may affect my ability to sell or get the best price for it, especially when the recall is as serious as a FIRE RISK when using an advertised and integral feature. I am unable to recharge at home because I do not have an outlet that meets the l2 requirements. Additionally, I live in an apartment so I am unable to charge. This has caused me a mass inconvenience when trying to go to family events and other events that require long distance driving because the L2charger isn't sufficient enough for me to make to it on time to these events

For details please see: Manufacturer Recall Number R24B2 NHTSA Recall Number 24V-700 This battery issue has been known by the company but not yet addressed, despite them saying there would be a solution by March 2025. Quick charging remains not recommended which is a significant issue when using the vehicle on longer drives or for when more battery-intensive alternate routes are necessary. The ability to quick-charge a battery electric vehicle without worry of overheating or fire is a very low baseline for standard usage, and the company should fix the issue or offer replacement batteries as soon as possible.

This is in regards to recall number 24V-700. This recall was issued in September 2024 with a resolution set for November, then December 2024, then March 2025, and finally Spring 2025. We are now in the Summer of 2025 with no resolution yet. This recall limits the usefulness of my vehicle, and perceived value if sold due to not being able to fast charge.

While driving during rainy conditions on January 19, the windshield wipers stopped working, resulting in obstructed view through front windshield while driving in the rain. Following, they worked intermittently for a week and then stopped working altogether. The exact failure has not been identified but is either a damage rod or non-functional motor; likely the motor as there is no noise coming from motor when the wipers are turned on. No warnings. We do not have a dealer within driving distance.

The back up camera does not work half of the time. When the car is put in reverse, the screen in the console shows only black. Because the car has many blind spots and a small back window, this makes backing up difficult. The other day I almost ran over my neighbors kid and I was being extra cautious. Every time we've taken the car to the dealership for repair the camera start working again. Other Nissan Leafs from this same year were recalled for a similar issue, but ours was not. Nissan needs to expand the recall to more vehicles. We have picture evidence that the camera does not work, but because the dealership can't replicate the issue they will not cover the cost of repair even though this problem is identical to issues from a previous recall.

Today I received a recall notice - 22v0-048 - regarding the defrosting and defogging systems. As currently programmed, the defroster limits visibility out of the windshield under cold conditions. The solution proposed by Nissan is reminiscent of the Apollo 13 instructions, complicated and difficult to follow by normal humans. Rather than actually reprogram the defrosting system, Nissan is resolving the recall by issuing inane instructions. This should not be allowed.

For my Nissan Leaf 2019, I used DC fast charger to charge up while returning home from another town, with battery below 8%. It charged and got home and plugged in my Level2 charger overnight. In morning it displayed a “Service EV System” error and became undriveable. It would not go into Drive or Reverse. It will go into Neutral or Parking only. When I got it towed to Dealership, they cleared the code and gave back the car as drivable. But when I plugged in Level2 charger overnight, next morning same issue occured. Now Dealership did full diagnostics and tells me the car needs PDM (Power Distribution Module) replaced. Nissan previously issued Service Campaign P9351 for this exact issue, but my VIN is not included. I believe my vehicle has the same defective PDM and poses a safety risk due to sudden loss of drive power. Nissan has declined coverage. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether the recall should be expanded to include additional affected vehicles. Also there is open Recall R24B2 regarding Lithium Battery getting too hot durinig Fast DC charging for which they don't have the Remedy yet. I recall that only 3-4 weeks before above incident, I had my previous Fast DC charging session, after which I got a message on dashboard saying something like "Battery is very hot". I waited for 10 minutes before driving. Each time I would drive from standstill position, it will accelerate very slowly, but eventually drive OK after speeding up. I came home and let it cool overnight, and did not notice same symptom again until above PDM related issue happened after next Fast DC charging session.

Nissan has had an open recall for over a year and sent me multiple recall letters for NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-700. This recall has had no remedy to date. It was opened in 2024. I have to commute to work daily and am not able to fast charge my 2019 Nissan leaf anymore. This renders the car useless for my daily driving. I am only able to slow charge and not able to use the car for its intended purpose and original purpose. Please help as the resale of this vehicle has dropped from this recall. I am stuck with a car I cannot use for which it was advertised for. I'm looking into doing a buyback but wanted to start here for help.

Per NHTSA ID Number: 24V700000: Summary Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019-2020 LEAF vehicles equipped with a Level 3 quick charging port. The lithium-ion battery may overheat during Level 3 charging. Remedy Owners are advised not to use Level 3 quick charging until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the battery software, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed October 10, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available, anticipated in Quarter 3 of 2025. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R24B2. It has been a year with no fix and no remedy in sight, and it is now Quarter 4 of 2025. Level 3 quick charging allows for longer roadtrips and the use of the car has been limited to only local driving since the recall was issued.

I purchased by 2019 Nissan leaf brand new from a Nissan dealership. My electric vehicle is our only vehicle and has been effectively disabled for out of town driving by a safety recall for the traction battery for nearly a year. Nissan continues to be unable to repair or resolve this safety recall and has offered no alternatives other than telling me not to fast charge the vehicle for fear of it catching fire. I have spent countless hours talking to a regional specialist and then being escalated to an executive specialist both of which offer no resolution. I want my vehicle repaired and returned to the originally purchased function or repurchased by Nissan. With the multiple delays in repairing this safety recall up to a year now I have no faith in Nissan to reach any satisfactory repair. I no longer want to own or drive this vehicle and the fault lays entirely with Nissan for their handling of this concern. I fear for my families safety when driving or using this vehicle because of the stated risk of electric battery fire. Nissan continues to have failed to offer any repair or inspection of the battery to determine our risk of a vehicle battery fire.

2019 Nissan Leaf Battery Recall: 1 year out from recall announcement, still no repair is available, and it is unsafe to use fast charging for risk of fire. Nissan advertised repairs for recall coming in late 2024, then March 2025. It is now July 2025, and still no repair, and Nissan Corporate will not provide a financial remedy. Have spoken with Consumer Affairs, and they claim no obligation. Unable to use the car to travel longer distances (>45min away from home) because fast charging is unsafe. Consumer Affairs gave me run around. Called back 24 hours after initially promised, at 4 minutes before end of work day on a Friday. Once I finally spoke with the Consumer Affairs rep the next Tuesday, they claimed no obligation under my state's laws to remedy the issue. They refused to email the denial letter that contained this response to the issue and stated that I would have to wait for a physical copy to be sent in the mail 4-8 weeks later. I have gone to 2 Nissan dealerships in the last 2 weeks to attempt to get this recall repaired, and they all report the same issue. It is not possible to repair the battery because Nissan has not provided a solution. 1 year later, this "solution" is still in development. I do not have more time to wait. Moreover, I should be covered by the battery warranty up to 100k miles (I have 51k miles on car) and it does not expire until March 2027.

I have the same complaint as the other 2019 leaf owners. It's been over a years since I was told a recall was in effect for the car I haven't been able to drive it any significant distance because I can't use a fast charger. Additionally, the rear camera that had been recalled and supposedly fixed is now malfunctioning again. When I contacted Nissan I did get in touch with the arbitration department but they are giving me the runaround

I am currently using a 2019 NISSAN LEAF electric vehicle and the vehicle is still under NISSAN's 7-year warranty. In September 2024, Nissan sent me a notice advising me to temporarily stop fast charging the vehicle to avoid overheating the battery and possibly exploding and wait for them to fix the vehicle charger. Two months later, Nissan continued to send me a new notice and continued to schedule me until spring 2025. I still trusted and waited for them, in June 25 Nissan sent me a third notice to wait until the third quarter of this 25. Up to now, more than 9 months have passed but they still do not have spare parts to replace my vehicle and I still do not know if Nissan will have spare parts for my vehicle by the end of the third quarter of this 25? in the past 9 months, i have had to spend a lot of time every time i need to charge my car. just because i don't have my own house so i have to take my car to the charging station and every time i charge i have to wait for about 5 hours. i don't understand what nissan wants now? ◦

On 7/19/2024 while charging the car at Chargepoint Johns Creek, I heard a "clunk" sound as if something had popped off from beneath the body of the Leaf. At the same time, the charging emergency stopped. Smoke started to come out from under the Leaf. There was a smell as if something was melting, making me feel dizzy and nauseous. I felt a sense of confusion from inhaling the smoke. Since both my son and I were outside the car, we were able to quickly pull away and escape as soon as the smoke started. If we had been inside the car, or if this had happened while driving, we might have been unable to escape in time, lost consciousness from the smoke, and possibly died in the fire. The smoke continued for about 15 minutes, followed by a fire. At the same time, there was a sound of something exploding. The police arrived, followed by the fire truck. It took a long time to extinguish the fire, possibly because the lithium battery caught fire. Please refer to the video. ︎Mental and Physical Condition After the Accident Both my son and I are experiencing symptoms similar to PTSD. When we smell smoke or drive a car, we feel chills, nausea, and dizziness, which negatively affect our daily lives. This incident left burn scur to my son and has started having nightmares and crying at night. Seeing an electric vehicle scares us to the point that our bodies freeze and we can't move. Also, seeing fire or hearing car sounds suddenly makes us tremble, our hearts race, and we have difficulty breathing. We start crying uncontrollably in a panic, and it takes time to calm down. It is difficult to control our emotions. We are experiencing insomnia, likely due to the excitement of our nerves from the accident. We probably need mental treatment such as therapy and physical treatment to alleviate insomnia and tension.

AFTER RECENTLY DOING THE RECALL UPDATE ON THE VEHICLE, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE BATTERY PERCENTAGE LIGHT INDICATOR NOW SIGNIFICANTLY DROPS ITS PERCENTAGE SOMETIMES UPT TO 15% WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED AND THEN WHEN SLOWING OR COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE BATTERY PERCENTAGE WILL INCREASE BACK ANYWHERE BETWEEN 10 AND 15 PERCENT WHICH LEADS TO DECEIVING THE DRIVER AND MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO SAFETY MODE. CONTINUES TO OCCUR EVERY DAY I USE IT SINCE IT IS A COMMUTER VEHICLE FOR ME. Unable to updload a video. Please email me correspondence so i may send a video.

SERVICE BRAKES
4 complaints
I am writing to report a serious safety issue with my Nissan Leaf that needs immediate attention. On two separate occasions, the brakes have failed completely without any warning while driving. A warning light appeared, stating "T/M System Malfunction Warning - See Dealer," but by that time, the brakes had already stopped working. The only way to stop the vehicle was by using the emergency brake, which is extremely dangerous and could easily lead to a fatal accident. The first incident occurred when I was able to quickly pull into a Walmart parking lot, luckily avoiding other vehicles. The second time, the car crashed into the side of my garage and hit a tree stump in my driveway, causing damage to the rear of the car and breaking the side mirror. I was fortunate enough to engage the emergency brake before the car entered the road, but it was a terrifying experience that could have ended much worse. Fortunately, did not happen while my teenage children and their friends were driving the car. After researching this issue, I was shocked to discover that many other Nissan Leaf owners have experienced similar brake failures dating back to 2012. This is not an isolated incident, and I am deeply concerned that it continues to happen without resolution. When I brought my car to the dealership, they informed me that the issue is related to the Intelligent Brake Unit Controller, and the repairs would cost $5,000. However, my vehicle is only five years old with 62,000 miles, and I believe this defect should be addressed by Nissan, not at the owner's expense. I urge you to take immediate action to investigate this dangerous defect. There is no warning before the brakes fail, and this puts drivers and others on the road at extreme risk. Does it really take a fatal accident for Nissan to address this issue? This problem has been ongoing for years, and it’s unacceptable that it has not been resolved. I hope that you will take this matter seriously and provide a solution befo

Crash: 1
Read the comment, "Vehicle doesn't slow down when taking foot of the acceleration pedal. Same both power settings. It will continue to move at slow speed on level ground. It behaves as though the minimum pedal motor speed is too fast. My concern is that it might get very fast without any pedal. Thank you." I can confirm the same issue has occurred with my 2019 Nissan Leaf. The car is seriously dangerous if you are not aware of this issue that occurs and that the only response is to forcefully hit the brakes...times this occurs: occasionally including merging onto highways at fast speeds and at low speeds as well. Problem is ongoing at least weekly since I bought the car 3/22. Serious injuries and deaths are likely to occur if this problem is not resolved. I would be surprised if injuries have not already occurred. I didn't know where to go to report this until I read an article with the above quotation. Here I am. Thank you.

The electronic parking brake does not automatically engage, even when the circumstances described in the owner's manual apply. This could cause some cars to be improperly secured, if drivers expect the parking brake to apply automatically but it does not. I don't think this is an issue with my car specifically as many others on the Internet have reported similar issues. See for example https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/oxzrne/how_does_the_electric_parking_brake_work/ This problem seems to be pervasive enough that many owners concluded their car simply does not have this feature, despite it being clearly described in the owner manual.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE E-PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DESIGNED CORRECTLY FOR THE HEAVIER WEIGHT OF THE 62KW BATTERY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR THOSE OF US THAT HAVE A PREVIOUS YEAR 42 KW BATTERY MODEL. I PURCHASED THE 2019 NISSAN LEAF PLUS SL TRIM AND TRADED IN MY 2018 NISSAN LEAF SL ON 2/8/2020. I NOTICED THE BRAKING DISTANCE WITH E-PEDAL HAS INCREASED DRAMATICALLY, BY ABOUT 2X THIS DISTANCE. THAT SEEMS TO BE OUT OF LINE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED.

NHTSA Recall Number24V-700 It has been over 1yr since the recall was issued for fire risk on the Nissan leaf and still no fix is available. How much time do they legally have to remedy the issue?

My 2019 Nissan Leaf (VIN: [XXX] ) has a known charging-related defect. The vehicle became undrivable on [XXX], due to its inability to charge. It had previously exhibited the same issue on [XXX]. The dealership (Grand Strand Nissan) has had the vehicle for over a week and has not been able to fix it. They are working with Nissan engineers but no repair or resolution has been found. The issue appears related to a known recall (R24B2), for which no fix is currently available. I have an open case with Nissan Consumer Affairs (XXX), and despite promises, I have not received a response from a regional case manager. The vehicle remains inoperable under warranty, creating a serious safety and mobility risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My 2019 Nissan Leaf has been under recall since September 2024 (Recall #24V700000) due to being a fire hazard when using Level 3 chargers, also known as fast charging. I understand that issues can take time and specialized parts to resolve a recall. However, it is now 10 months later and Nissan still has no remedy to offer for this issue, leaving me unable to safely utilize this key feature. As a result of this delay, I have not been able to drive my vehicle on longer trips and instead make alternate arrangements like renting a vehicle at my own expense. This is also limiting my ability to sell or trade in the vehicle, which ultimately has diminished its value. While I have not suffered direct physical harm from Nissan's delay in resolving this recall, it has negatively impacted the quality and long-term value of the product.

Brake warning sign came off and the car won't shift out of parking brake, causing the passenger to get stranded. Upon dealer inspection, there's defective wire hardness which has been noted in Nissan service bulletin Ref: NTB19-054a. Dealer confirmed that it is bulk wire harness issue and will require replacement (~$3.2K for part and labor). i have reported to Nissan since the leaf has 22k mileage only, but rejected by Nissan that it is a manufacturer issues. Please investigate this as i have seen many similar issues with other Leaf owners and it will be un-safe to have parking brake issue suddenly pops up, where it will brick and unable to move the vehicle. Thank you.

On 9/17, 2019 Nissan Leaf S 40 kWh lost braking power just after start up. I started the vehicle, placed the vehicle into drive and went to creep through open parking spot. The brake pedal was either dead or lost enough power to feel dead. The vehicle was returned to park in order to stop slow roll. No injuries or damages. Experience seems similar to NHTSA ID 11488058. I don’t recall whether any warning lights came on as I rushed to power down the car. No indicator lights illuminated after restart and vehicle drove home without issue. A few hours prior to brake issue, a humming/ringing sound was heard throughout the cabin just after shutdown. My passengers also observed the sound, which stopped after powering on the vehicle and turning the fan dial. This had not happened before and only occurred once. On 09/18, the vehicle indicated “Warning: Service EV System No Power”. Numerous warning lights were illuminated, a photo taken, and a tow truck scheduled. Two hours later, I went to check whether the vehicle could be placed into neutral. The vehicle started and went into gear without issue and no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealership for inspection as precaution. My 12V battery was the original battery, so I suspected it needed replacement and asked the dealership to test it. I have read online about other issues from Nissan Leaf owners when the 12V battery is deteriorated. Dealership confirmed 12V battery failed testing. They were not able to duplicate the brake issue described above. The only time that the vehicle provided a warning about the 12V battery was when it generated the warning described above once. Otherwise, no indication that battery needed replacement. Nissan needs to provide a system update to give the driver more specific 12V battery health information. Also address the 12V battery more clearly in maintenance schedule. Vehicle operating as expected with a new 12V battery installed.

I am the owner of a 2019 Nissan Leaf affected by Recall R24B2, which addresses a critical battery issue that may lead to overheating or fire during Level 3 charging. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs over a week ago to initiate resolution and was informed that a regional manager would follow up with me directly. However, I have not received any communication since that initial call. I followed up again with Consumer Affairs, and was told they would reach out to the regional manager once more. Despite these efforts, I have received no callback, no update, and no timeline for resolution. This delay is unacceptable given the safety risks involved and the urgency of the recall. I am requesting immediate escalation of my case, a direct response from the assigned regional manager, and a clear plan for remedy. I have documented all communications and am prepared to pursue further action if necessary.

2019 Nissan Leaf, purchased in USA, 3 years ago. Moved to Canada and imported vehicle through proper methods. When entered into Canada and waiting for safety inspection paperwork, learned that there was an open recall. The open recall is for battery Level3 charging issues. Can catch fire. In order to get safety inspection paperwork, this recall needs to be resolved. Constantly communicating with Nissan US and Nissan Canada, dealership and corporate for a fix and release and it has been scheduled and postponed for the past 2 years. There is no fix or resolution in sight. I cannot legally inspect, register, insure and drive my vehicle during this time. Ive waited 3-4 months now and because I imported from the states, Im one of the few Leaf vehicles that cannot drive my car while recall fix is pending. And its been pending for 2 years now. I simply need my vehicle resolved so I drive my car. No complaint to the dealership, or Nissan corporate has yielded any results.

During the last 3 winters I have noticed the car do something strange when going up an extended highway inclines. The battery % along with the estimated miles left will drop suddenly (~40% in a minute) and when I would go over the top of the hill most of the battery % and miles would return. During the 2021-2022 winter, I noticed this happen only once or twice. During 2022-2023 winter, I noticed this happen more often but I did not know what was causing it except it seemed to only happen on very cold days and also when the battery % prior to the drop was around 50% or less. During the current 2023-2024 winter, this issue became common. It no longer had to be very cold but just an extended incline and battery at 50% or less. It usually happened between exit [XXX] and exit [XXX] on [XXX] in New Jersey. It has become so common that I was able to record it. The videos show the car will lose over 40% of battery in about a minute. However, once I would go over the hill most of the battery % would come right back. In one video the “Battery charge is low Charge now” warning is triggered. On a few occasions, when I had around 30% of battery prior to going up this hill and the battery started to drop suddenly, I had to make a rapid emergency stop on the right shoulder midway up the hill. When stopped the battery would recover back to around 30% and I was able to get over the hill. This obviously created a safety concern. My car battery is still covered under Nissan’s EV battery warranty. I have taken the car to two 2 Nissan dealerships. One of the dealership was able to replicate the issue, but stated the only way they will approve the warranty repair is if they disassembles the battery. They stated once they approve the warranty repair they can order the battery but that it might take up to 8-9 months to get the battery. They stated that during this whole time my car will be inoperable and Nissan will not provide or reimburse for a loaner car. The Backup Camera only works intermittently and if it is not working it will not begin working again unless the car is completely turned off and restarted. The failure seems more likely to occur if the car is started and then quickly put into reverse. The failure seems less likely to occur, but still does periodically, if the car is started and then not put into motion until 10-20 sec after the dash start-up graphics have finished. When the camera is failing the display is solid magenta colored with static-lines scrolling through it. The safety issue is that the rear camera cannot be used. We have not yet shown this problem to anyone else. There were no warning lights or alarms indicating a failure. The failure occurrence was very infrequent when we bought the car (new) in 2019, but now is happening at least 50% of the time that we back out of our garage.

My Nissan does not have an audible reminder to buckle my seat belt. The dealer says this is the way the car is designed. Should my car be recalled? Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards require seat belt reminders to have an audible signal that lasts for four to eight seconds and a visual alert that lasts at least one minute whenever the driver's seat belt is not on.

There was no incident...but I am reporting the fact that Nissan has not provided a remedy and the recall has been in place over a year. I and other owners of affected Nissan Leafs are not able to use the car to its full capacity. I strongly recommend NHTSA encourage/force Nissan to deliver a remedy and, indeed, compensation for the fact that these cars could not be use for long-distance driving for over a year (and counting).

Nissan announced recall R24B2 on September 19, 2024. The vehicle is at risk of overheating/fire when FAST CHARGING. Nissan has not provided ANY solution to this issue in the 14 months the recall has been open. Dealers have no information, Nissan says they are "working" on a software fix but give no date or schedule for repair. The official response from Nissan Corporation has been to tell us that they believe the recall solution of "DO NOT FAST CHARGE" is sufficient and they do not need to provide us any further assistance or compensation. The vehicle cannot be driven further than a single charge will allow because major EV charging station companies have now BANNED Nissan Leaf's from using their stations because of fire risk. This means outside of my HOME, I cannot charge the Leaf AT ALL. There is no usability of a vehicle that cannot be charged or powered outside of the home for risk of fire or damage to the battery. I was charged MORE money to have fast charging and a larger battery in this vehicle to be able to utilize it for ALL of my driving needs, including the ability to fast charge to increase range of the vehicle. Our vehicle had swollen battery modules that had bent or damaged the stacks and required a new battery to be installed due to the swelling of the modules leaving the vehicle unable to power on. Nissan replaced the battery in October 2025, but informed us despite a NEW battery the vehicle STILL CANNOT BE FAST CHARGED, as they are still unsure of how to fix the rapid heating of the cells. The vehicle will likely see the same swelling and degradation of the batteries without a PROPER solution from Nissan, leaving me to minimize any driving of a vehicle I am actively paying for, to avoid risk to my family, home and vehicle.

I took my car in for a few recalls and was informed that the Manufacturer Recall Number R24B2/NHTSA Recall Number 24V-700 fix was not available. The recall has been in effect for 1 year now and there is still no remedy. This is affecting the ability to use the car to its fullest due to the safety risk associated with Level 3 quick charging. If I was to quick charge the car it could result in damage to the battery and even fire. I cannot sell the car either due to the recall. Please have Nissan make this right. They need to fix the issue or initiate a buyback.

The contact owned a 2019 Nissan Leaf. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 23V494000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), 24V700000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), and 24V071000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION). The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH and coming up to an intersection, the vehicle ahead of the contact had stopped in front of the contact due to a crash. The contact attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and crashed into the rear of the vehicle ahead. The contact stated that the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection under the traffic light after the crash. There were no warning lights illuminated; however, there was a beeping sound while attempting to stop the vehicle. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags deployed as needed. The contact was unsure if a Police report was filed. The contact stated that the vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact sustained an injury to the right knee from the impact, sciatic nerve injury, shoulder pain, and emotional distress. The contact went to the Emergency room and had since received physical therapy. The contact believed that one other person in one of the other vehicles had sustained injuries. The contact stated that the vehicle had been towed to an auto body shop, and the contact stated that the body shop had deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact stated that the dealer had contacted the body shop and had been harassing her as well as the body shop about returning the vehicle to the dealer. The contact then took the vehicle home with an abnormal clinking sound. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and suggested that there would be an investigation into the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.

I've had four incidents of the automatic braking system engaging and braking when there was no object in front of the car that should have required it to stop. There doesn't seem to be a common factor. Twice in a lighted garage. Once on a highway while making a turn during daylight, and once on a highway going straight at night. It's very dangerous.

The rearview camera stopped working. It works intermittently when backing up (<10%), but otherwise just shows a black screen for the rear backup camera. No warning lamps. As a result the rear blind spot warning does not work, posing a risk to kids or pedestrians crossing behind me. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone at this point but a service appointment is scheduled. It is available for inspection.

My vin number say 0 recalls which same problem with 2019 nissan leaf problem. NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V654000 Manufacturer Nissan North America, Inc. Components BACK OVER PREVENTION Potential Number of Units Affected 1,228,830 Summary Nissan North America, Inc. The ability to make calls through Apple CarPlay was an important consideration when I purchased both of these cars. This was especially the case because my insurance company, for safety reasons, monitors whether I make handheld calls while driving. Both cars have an issue when you try to do a phone call through Apple CarPlay. When I try to make a phone call, it is choppy and full of static, and makes a loud cracking sound, making phone calls nearly impossible. The problem is not intermittent; it happens with every call. The inability to make handheld calls while driving presents a significant safety risk. I have tried 4 different USB cables, and I have tried different phones. My phone is an Apple iPhone 12 Pro with Software version 15.4.1. I have also tried an iPhone 13 Pro. I took both cars to Nissan dealerships to try to have the problem fixed.

About January 19, 2022 when the temperature was about -10 degrees F I drove my 2019 Nissan Leaf about 5 miles. When I turned on the car the battery level was at 60%. After I had been driving for about ½ mile I got a dashboard message that the battery was cold and power would be reduced. I got a similar message a few days before which did not result in any difference in power levels, so I ignored the message. At about 3 miles I had to go up a 10% grade hill of about 1/4 mile in length. As soon as I started up the hill and was accelerating I got the power reduction message again. At that point I was traveling about 50mph. Then in the next 10 seconds, and while I was about half way up the hill, the battery indicator on the dashboard dropped all the way down to 1%. The car lost all of its power and I had to pull over to the side of the road. As soon as I stopped the battery indicator started to rise and within the next 30 seconds had returned to 60%. I continued up the hill, and noticed that the power was decreasing and the battery indicator was dropping again. I made it to the top of the hill and stopped again. The battery indicator returned to 60%. I had to stop one more time to allow the battery to recover, but made it to my destination without further problems. Two hours later I started for home and the car operated normally. Between that day and February 5 there have been no further incidents, even though early morning temperatures have ranged from -7 degrees to -28 degrees on 13 days. I took the car to Freedom Nissan in South Burlington, VT on Feb. 2. However, they told me that there was no record of such an incident on the computer and they would do nothing without such a record. To have the car go from full power to zero power in a 10 second period is a very disconcerting experience. It should have provoked an error message in the onboard computer. I think this is a safety problem and would like you to look into it.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
The Incident happened on a bright afternoon while I was entering our two car parking garage in our home ; steering wheel steered to the utmost right to enter the right parking space in our garage. I was driving an almost dead battery (8% charge remaining and 13 miles left) and the 2019 model Nissan Leaf car (20K miles driven) was already very heavy while entering our alley (backyard parking). I was driving at 10 mile speed or under when our fence door was in the process of opening (half way opened) and the car garage was already opened; the car jerked forward with a sudden speed, dashed through the fence door and did not stop on drive way (brakes failed) and entered into the garage, hitting the storage racks built to the wall and the toilet right behind it. Things fell on the windshield, obstructed the car when it finally stopped (had to hit the stop button by force). I was scared to death if the car was going to get on a fire or would result in an electric short circuit. Luckily I was saved with no major injuries and God was beside me and saved me from causing any damage to anyone or other's properties. I am sure there might have been other such complaints on Nissan Leaf and want to bring this to light.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE RAN OVER A SPARE TRAILER TIRE THAT HAD FALLEN OFF ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE ALMOST CLEARED IT BUT THE TIRE JUST BARELY LODGED UNDERNEATH IN THE UNDERCARRIAGE,JUST PAST THE FRONT TIRES. EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO FRONT COLLISION OR SUDDEN REDUCTION IN SPEED; THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE. THIS IS A FLAW AND SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE THE VEHICLE DID SUSTAIN SOME DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE, THERE WAS NO NEED FOR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND DOING SO EXACERBATED AN ALREADY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. THE AIRBAG STARTLED ME, OBSTRUCTED MY VIEW, AND COULD EASILY HAVE CAUSED ME TO COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN USA. I WAS CONTACTED BY NISSAN INCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS AND THEY HAVE DISAVOWED ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INCIDENT AND CLAIM THAT THE SYSTEMS ARE WORKING AS INTENDED. I AM A FIREFIGHTER AND HAVE DEALT WITH MANY CAR WRECKS. I KNOW WHEN AN AIRBAG IS SUPPOSED TO DEPLOY AND IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT THE SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE IS NOT OPERATING AS IT SHOULD AND IS PRESENTING A SAFETY HAZARD. FURTHER, BOTH THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER AND THE ATTENDANT AT THE REPAIR SHOP EXPRESSED CONFUSION AS TO WHY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT ALONE WILL COST NEARLY $3,000 AND, SINCE THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER, WILL TAKE NEARLY A MONTH.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN STOP AND GO OR HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM THROTTLES ITSELF BACK TO CONSERVE POWER IN THE TRACTION BATTERY. COMBINED WITH THE FACT THERE ARE NO REAR SEAT VENTS (EITHER IN THE CONSOLE OR THE FLOOR), IT GETS DANGEROUSLY HOT IN THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO NISSAN, USA, THIS IS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. TEMPERATURES OF OVER 100 DEGREES HAVE BEEN RECORDED IN MY DAUGHTER'S CAR SEAT WHILE IN TRAFFIC WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING HARDLY RUNNING OR RUNNING AT A VERY LOW POWER. ACCORDING TO NISSAN, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN MEET THEIR ADVERTISED EPA RANGE. ANOTHER AREA THIS PROBLEM EFFECTS IS THAT WHEN THE WINDSHIELD IS FOGGY, AND YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC, IT WILL NOT PROPERLY DEFROST CAUSING A SERIOUS VISIBILITY PROBLEM. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS OF ALL OF THIS. I CONTACTED NISSAN BUT THEY CLAIM THAT THE CAR IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. I AM CONTACTING THE BBB LEMON LAW SECTION. MY LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE HAS ASKED ME TO FILE A NHTSA COMPLAINT AS THEY FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
