Brake booster failure. The power assisted braking has stopped working. There are no leaking vacuum hoses and the check valve is working. The brake pedal travels to the floorboard.

The contact owns a 2011 Mazda CX-9. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the brakes. The contact stated that the brake pedal was firm and difficult to depress while attempting to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 67,000.

Braking trouble recent in weeks in 2011 Mazda CX-9 vehicle. Had mechanic (Euro Motorsports in Chagrin Falls OH) check it out. Turned out to be a faulty Brake Booster. Mechanic test drove car; braking failed and he almost rear-ended another vehicle. He found on line a Mazda service notice dating from April 4, 2014 called SSP93. Mazda issued an extended warranty of 7 years or 90,000 miles, whichever came first, to have defective part replaced by an improved part. But we were never informed by Mazda of Bedford, where we bought the vehicle. Currently, our vehicle has about 83,000 miles. Never knew there was a problem until recent trouble with the braking. There are thousands of CX-5, Cx-7, and Cx-9 vehicles in operation in U.S. right now; probably many owners have no idea there is a brake defect in their vehicles that could cause a serious accident, potentially fatal. Mazda should have done a recall in 2014, not an extended warranty. Although Brake Boosters are supposedly good for at least 150,000 miles of driving, our brake failure at around 83,000 miles proves otherwise. NHTSA should order Mazda to recall all vehicles with the defective brake part and replace them at Mazda's expense, probably hundreds of dollars each time. We do not want to have our brake booster replaced by our regular Euro Motosports mechanics because a recall must typically be repaired by the dealer. We already filed a complaint with State of Ohio Attorney General's office, but their people say the complaint must first go through BBB. No urgency on their part at all, even when informed potentially fatal flaw in the brakes. To avoid dangerous accidents, NHTSA should act more swiftly. Thanks.

I WENT FROM HAVING BRAKES TO HAVING TO PUSH THE BRAKE TO THE FLOOR, WHICH STILL DID NOT STOP THE CAR, ALL IN THE SAME DAY. I WAS LUCKY NOT TO WRECK BUT COULD NOT STOP FOR STOP SIGNS OR STOP LIGHTS ALL WHILE MY 22 MONTH OLD WAS IN THE VEHICLE. I had an issue with the AWD not engaging and the 4x4 light illuminating when driving on snow and ice. No indicators when driving under normal conditions. I had no traction and had difficulty maintaining control of the vehicle while driving at speeds less than 25 mph. I had difficulty gettting momentum from a stop as the tires were spinning and engaging tracion. I took the car into a Mazda dealership for a full circle inspection and found that the 4x4 light was illuminating due to worn-out splines connecting the transfer case. The technician was able to spin the driveshaft, indicating the splines are damaged and need to be replaced. Recommendations were to replace the transmission and transfer case with a repair estimate of $5469.61. Additionally, the technician observed some seeping of oil coming from the tiing cover and reccommends re-sealing it as well as replacing the water pump ( another known failure issue in which Mazda is aware of). Cost estimate of $4319.78. The technician also observed a crack in the right rear differential mount with a repair cost of $442.10. In short, Mazda knew about all these problems. They issued a warrenty extention from my research back in 2014 but never issued any recalls. In short, I didn't own this vehicle in 2014, I purchased in 2016. I was never aware of any warrenty extentions to include these issues and if I was aware, I would have had the services done for repairs. My safety as well as my family's and others are at risk if I lose control of the vehicle due to the AWD not engaging when needed.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON A COUNTY ROAD, WITH THE SPEED UNDER 40 MPH, AND FOLLOWING THE BEND IN THE ROAD TO LEAD TO GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR JERKED FORWARD AS IF I HIT SOMETHING. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, THE CAR WAS MAKING LOUD CLINKING SOUNDS AND WAS JERKING IN MOTION. NO WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE, CLANGING NOISES COULD BE HEARD AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO JERK FORWARD. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, IT WAS DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WAS THE TRANSFER CASE. THE SPLINES BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE HAD BEEN EATEN AWAY BY RUST. THE SEAL HAD NOT KEPT WATER OUT AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. A NEW TRANSFER CASE WAS ORDERED AS WELL AS A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE REPLACEMENT TRANSFER CASE HAD SHOWN SIGNS OF THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE SPLINES. ANOTHER (2ND ONE) TRANSFER CASE HAD TO BE ORDERED. I HAD PURCHASED THIS CAR IN FEBRUARY 2019 USED. THE CAR HAD A CLEAN TITLE, NO ACCIDENTS AND WAS SERVICED REGULARLY. WITHIN 1 YEAR, I HAD TO PAY OUT $5,000.00 TO REPLACE TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION. I LOST THE USE OF MY CAR FOR OVER 3 WEEKS (DUE TO THE PROBLEMS WITH GETTING A TRANSFER CASE THAT WAS GOOD). WHEN YOU GOOGLE THIS ISSUE, MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES.

THE TRANSFER CASE IN OUR 2011 MAZDA CX-9 FAILED AT 130,000 MILES. I UNDERSTAND THAT MAZDA KNOW ABOUT A DEFECT AS TO THE PROXIMITY OF THE TRANSFER CASE TO THE EXHAUST. THE HEATED TRANSFER CASE LUBRICANT BECOME SLUDGE-LIKE AND CAUSES THE CASE TO FAIL ALSO AFFECTING THE TRANSMISSION SPLINES. THE HEATED LUBRICANT ESCAPED AND DRIPS ON THE EXHAUST AND FILLS THE VEHICLE WITH A TOXIC SMELLING GAS AND APPARENTLY CAN LIGHT ON FIRE. THE TRANSFER CASE FAILED WHILE DRIVING MAKING GETTING OUT OF TRAFFIC DIFFICULT. MAZDA ISSUED A BULLETIN IN 2014 EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 7 YEARS OR 90,000 MILES BUT DIDN'T INFORM ANY OF THE CUSTOMERS OF THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS NO SERVICE SCHEDULE FOR THE TRANSFER CASE AS RECOMMENDED BY MAZDA. OR ANY WAY I UNDERSTAND TO CHANGE THE LUBRICANT IN THE TRANSFER CASE. WITHOUT INFORMING US OF THE ISSUE OR HAVING RECOMMENDED ANY PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE MAZA CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MY FAMILY. I HAVE CONTACTED MAZDA USA AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNHELPFUL.

THE VEHICLE WAS IDENTIFIED AT THE DEALERSHIP AS HAVING A LEAKING TRANSFER CASE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DURING THIS REPLACEMENT THE TRANSMISSION SPLINES WERE ALSO NOTED TO BE DAMAGED DUE TO THE FAULTY TRANSFER CASE. THEREFORE BOTH THE TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MAZDA CX-9. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, BOTH FRONT AND REAR SIDE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY. DURING THE INCIDENT NO COLLISION HAD OCCURRED AND VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN OVER A BUMP. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK AND LEFT SHOULDER INJURIES AND SUFFERED HEADACHES SINCE THE INCIDENT. MEDICAL TREATMENT WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER BROWN MAZDA OF CHANTILLY (4155 AUTO PARK SERVICE CHANTILLY, VA). THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. Driving kids to school a few months ago. Car started to smell like burning rubber. I thought it was the garbage truck ahead of us. As we turned the corner 2 blocks later, the car dead stopped and we all went flying forward. It jerked so hard, we are lucky our necks didn't snap. I put the car in park and turned it off. I waited a few minutes as I was too worked up, and started the car again. We got about 50ft before a very loud noise began, almost as if something was dragging underneath. I stopped, and had it towed home. I then had it towed to mechanic. They said bad TRANSFER CASE & DRIVE SHAFT. - TRANS PAN GASKET. I am a single mom with no money to afford to have it fixed in fear of it going bad again. They quoted me 3,500 here in PA.

Defective water pump located inside the engine that when failure occurs can cause coolant to leak into engine causing complete engine failure. This is a major safety hazard due to the fact that these cars with defective water pumps can break down with very little warning in the middle of a freeway! I have contacted Mazda who refuses to do anything due to it being outside warranty but will not acknowledge the safety concern sudden engine failure can cause on a perfectly maintained car. In California there is currently a lawsuit against Mazda for this issue and hundreds of other Ford and Mazda owners who have been caught in very dangerous situations due to this water pump failure issue. The situation we were involved in could have gone very differently and that was my family in the vehicle that Mazda seems to care about a couple thousand dollars more then the value of life... is just ridiculous! Please do the research yourself so no one has to loose their life over this.

The contact owns a 2011 Mazda CX-9. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, upon approaching oncoming traffic, the vehicle unexpectedly shut-off. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and pulled the vehicle off to the shoulder. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. Due to the failure and the warning light, the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the mechanic informed her that coolant had leaked into the oil cylinder and they referred her to a dealer for assistance. The contact then had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with a defective water pump as well as engine failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and stated that the failure was caused due to poor maintenance. No further assistance was provided. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A HIGHWAY THE WATER PUMP BEARING FAILED CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK AND MIX WITH THE ENGINE OIL. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO MAKE A RATTLE NOISE AND SMOKE OR STEAM CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR WAS COVERED WITH COOLANT AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE OIL. THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A MECHANIC. ONCE AT THE MECHANIC THE TOOK THE ENGINE OUT TO GET TO THE WATER PUMP, ONCE EVERYTHING WAS PUT BACK TOGETHER IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FAILURE ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE VVT ACTUATER AND ALTERNATOR. THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY SHOT.

I BOUGHT THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY UP TO 90,000 MILES, WHEN I BOUGHT TRUCK 2015 AND TOOK IN WE TOLD DEALER THAT THE WAS CAR LEAKING BLACK SUBSTANCE THEY SAID THEY DID NOT SEE ANYTHING . WE TOOK IT FOR A RECALL AND TOLD THE DEALER SAME THING THIS TIME OFF AND ON IT WOULD SMELL LIKE BURN RUBBER BY THIS TIME WARRANTY WAS NOT COVERED. THE ISSUE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED UNTIL WE TOOK IT TO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ROUTINE INSPECTION AT 108 SOMETHING MILES THE SMELL OF BURNT RUBBER IS MORE PERSISTENT THE MECHANIC TOLD US THERE IS A LEAK IT LOOKS LIKE TRANSMISSION OIL AND IT IS DRIPPING TO AXLE.WE TOOK IN TRUCK TO FIRST MECHANIC TO GET A QUOTE HE COULD ONLY GET PART AT THE DEALER THEY SAID THAT THE WHOLE POWER TRANSFER CASE WOULD NEED TO BE CHANGE NOT JUST THE SEALS. TOOK IT IN FOR SECOND OPINION THAT MECHANIC SAID THAT THOSE PARTICULAR MODELS AND YEAR HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN FOR SAME ISSUE AND END UP HAVING TO CHANGE POWER TRANSFER CASE BECAUSE IT WAS POORLY MANUFACTURED THAT THE EXHAUST IS TO CLOSE IT MELTS RUBBERS AND LEAKS TRANSMISSION OIL THEREFORE CHANGING SEALS WILL NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM THE WHOLE THING NEEDS TO BE CHANGE. I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN AND SMELL OF RUBBER IS CONCERNING IT UPSETTING THAT THERE IS MULTIPLE CARS FROM YEAR 2011 TO 2017 WITH THESE ISSUE'S AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL DOES A CAR NEED TO CATCH ON FIRE WITH KIDS IN IT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.

THE A/C EVAPORATOR TANK CONDENSATION DRAIN CLOGS. OURS HAS CLOGGED TWICE AND THE FIRST TIME THE WATER IN THE TANK WOULD SLOSH AROUND AND HEAR IT WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. EVENTUALLY IT RUINED THE BLOWER MOTOR TO THE A/C, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOW 19 MONTHS LATER, WE HEARD THE WATER AGAIN AND TOOK IT IN RIGHT AWAY AND IT WAS CLOGGED AGAIN AND THE BLOWER MOTOR HAS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. THERE SHOULD BE A BETTER DRAIN SYSTEM. CLEARLY THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE MAZDA CX-9 MODEL IN SEVERAL YEARS BECAUSE THERE ARE VIDEOS OF HOW TO UNCLOG THE A/C DRAIN.

HAD A PROBLEM A FEW YEARS AGO RELATED TO THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AS INDICATED BY THE WARNING LIGHT APPEARING ON THE DASH. DEALER CONTACTED THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT TO FILE A CLAIM AND SAID THAT IS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY FELT IT WAS DUE TO DIRT AND NOT A FAULTY SENSOR. THE DEALER NEVER CONFIRMED ONE OR THE OTHER. SECOND ISSUE IS RELATED TO A HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE BREAK PEDDLE. RESEARCH SUGGESTED MAZDA WAS INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA BACK IN 2014 AND INSTEAD OF A RECALL, MAZDA ISSUED AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 7 YEARS OR 90K MILES. UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE IS WITHIN THE 7 YEARS BUT NOT THE 90K. I AM CURRENTLY AT 97K MILES. STILL WAITING TO SEE IF MAZDA WILL COVER THE REPAIR OR AT LEAST DISCOUNT IT.

ON 24 JULY 2015, WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY BRAKING TO AVOID A COLLISION WHICH CAUSED ME TO DO THE SAME. FROM THE MOMENT I TRIED TO ACTUATE THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT FELT AS IF THE PEDAL WAS IN THE FLOOR AND IMMOVABLE. LITTLE, IF ANY, BRAKE FORCE WAS APPLIED AND REQUIRED BOTH FEET WITH ALL THE POWER OF MY LEGS TO GET EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT OF BRAKING. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY DIVE INTO THE MEDIAN AT SPEEDS OF 60-65 MPH TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS CAUSED TWO TIRES TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I LEFT MY PARKING GARAGE AND ALL THE WAY TO THE FREEWAY, BRAKING WAS NORMAL. NO DASH LIGHTS WERE ACTIVE NOR ARE THEY NOW. THE ISSUE PERSISTS NOW AND DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS NOT AN OPTION.

I HAVE NOT HAD A ACCIDENT YET, HOWEVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE FRONT BRAKES, ESPECIALLY THE RIGHT WHEEL. THE DEALER SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AND I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES AT REGULAR SERVICE. When getting off highway engine began to knock. Engine stalled and would not restart. Upon inspection the water pump was found to have failed and leaked engine coolant into oil. This caused engine to have a complete failure. No check engine light illuminated but when car was scanned multiple codes were found. The car was also found to have a bad Transfer Case.

MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT A MONTH AGO. I CHANGED THE HID BULBS, THE FUSE AND NOTHING WAS WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A MAZDA DEALER FOR MY WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT IT. AFTER MAZDA CHECKED IT OUT, THEY FOUND MY HID BALLAST WAS FRIED DUE TO WATER CONDENSATION. MY HEAD LIGHT IS NOT BROKEN OR MISSING ANY PARTS. MY WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER IT. A SECOND RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR MAZDA CX-9S RELATED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN MAY 2016. DUE TO THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT SOUTH BAY MAZDA I'VE TAKEN MY BUSINESS TO CULVER CITY MAZDA. CULVER CITY MAZDA GAVE ME A RENTAL VEHICLE ON AUG 8TH 2016 WHILE MAZDA NA ORDERS AND DELIVERS PARTS. I'VE HAD THE RENTAL VEHICLE FOR NEARLY THREE MONTHS WITH NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT. The contact owns a 2011 Mazda CX-9. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle at a slow speed in the driveway, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration, lurched forward, and crashed into a tree before coming to a stop. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle during the sudden unintended acceleration. During the failure the vehicle sustained front end damages, but no air bags had deployed. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that twice in the day before the unintended acceleration, the vehicle jerked forward in traffic however, the contact attributed the issue to the brake pedal not being firmly depressed or the clutch not properly engaged while shifting gear. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 173,000.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the contact lost control of the vehicle, and the front driver's side suspension lowered to the ground. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the subframe was severely rusted, causing the control arm to detach. The contact was informed that the subframe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

OUR VEHICLE HAS WATER DRAINS OR "WEEP" LINES FOR THE SUNROOF. WE RECENTLY HAD THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STOP/START, DASH LIGHTS REMAIN ON CONSTANTLY AFTER SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY DURING THE RAIN. WE LEARNED THAT IF THE DRAINS BECOME BLOCKED THAT WATER LEAKS INTO THE CABIN DIRECTLY ONTO THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM). BECAUSE THE BCM IS NOT IN A SEALED OR WATER-PROOF CASE, YET IS SOAKED IN THESE CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO ELECTRICAL FAILURE AS A RESULT. REPLACING THE BCM COSTS ABOUT $1,000. WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR THE DASH LIGHTS THAT WARN OF AN ISSUE WITH MANY OF THE VEHICLES SAFETY SYSTEMS REMAINED ON. OTHERS WENT OFF AND SOFT OF FLASHED. WE COULD NOT DETERMINE IF THERE WAS REALLY AN ISSUE WITH ALL OF THE COMPONENTS FLASHING ON THE DASH SO WE DID NOT WANT TO DRIVE IT FOR FEAR OF AN ACCIDENT. OUR VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY (THANK GOD). I TOOK MY CAR TO HALL IN BROOKFIELD WI TO FIX A RECALL ISSUE. BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 2015, AND APRIL 2016 MY DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TIRE IS BALD ON THE OUTSIDE TO THE POINT IT'S ALMOST UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IT IS THE ONLY TIRE THAT IS LIKE THIS.. ALL 4 TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. PAUL MILLER MAZDA CALLED ME AND INFORMED ME I NEEDED NEW TIRES AND AN ALIGNMENT AND I INFORMED THEM IT HAD TO BE RELATED TO THE RECALL DUE TO ONLY THAT TIRE, AND THE FACT THAT THE TREAD WAS THE SAME AS THE OTHER TIRES IN SEPTEMBER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 MAZDA CX-9. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE THEFT SYSTEM HAD TAKEN OVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE ABOUT THE PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKES AT ANY SPEED THERE WAS A HISSING SOUND AND THE BRAKES WERE HARD TO PRESS. REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE I APPLIED TO THE BRAKES THEY DID NOT REACT AND IT TOOK THE VEHICLE LONGER TO SLOW DOWN EVEN AT VERY LOW SPEEDS (5-10 MPH) OR FASTER. THIS CAME ON SUDDENLY AND CAUSED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THE MAZDA TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE VEHICLES AND COMPLETED A DIAGNOSTICS OF THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER HAVE FAILED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED.

THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO BACK THE CAR OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. AFTER MOVING THE CAR BACK AND FORTH AND SLIGHTLY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL THE POWER ASSIST CAME BACK. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE A TURN WITHOUT THE POWER ASSIST. THIS PROBLEM PERSISTS AND HAPPENS AT LOW SPEED OR WHEN I AM STOPPED AND TRYING TO MAKE A TURN. AS LONG AS I AM MOVING THE POWER ASSIST SEEMS TO WORK.

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND BOTH FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELTS DID NOT RETRACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTOBODY SHOP FOR REPAIR; HOWEVER, A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,585.

THIS IS THE SECOND HAPPENED TO MY MAZDA CX9, 2011. THE BRAKE STARTED TO HAVE HISSING SOUNDS WHILE STEPPING ON BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARDER THAN USUAL TO DEPRESS. THE BRAKE FUNCTIONS HAS BEEN REDUCED AROUND 30~50% LESS THAN NORMAL. THIS HAS PUT DERIVING SAFETY IN JEOPARDIZED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY CX9'S BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE. THE FIRST TIME IS IN YEAR 2012. I WORKED WITH MAZDA TO HAVE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED. HOWEVER, DEALER SEEMED NOT REALIZED THERE IS A WARRANTY EXTENDED PROGRAM FROM MAZDA --- MAZDA SPECIAL SERVICE PROGRAM -93 (SSP93). THIS IS OFFICIAL RECORDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE14005. DEALER TRIED CONTACTING MAZDA FOR THIS PROGRAM. BUT MAZDA KEPT NOT RESPONDING, IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS BUT STILL NOT MESSAGE BACK FROM THEM. I PAID THE REPAIRMEN OF THE DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER (PARTS & LABOR) FROM MY OWN PACKET AT THIS POINT. DESPITE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR JEOPARDIZING DRIVING SAFETY, MY COMPLAINTS TO MAZDA IS ALSO FOR THEIR NON-RESPONSIVE TO CUSTOMER'S WARRANTY PROGRAM WHICH THEY HAVE MADE.

IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE RECOMMENDED MINIMUM AGE AND WEIGHT FOR THE FRONT SEAT IS 12 YEARS AND 80LBS RESPECTIVELY. THE MAZDA DEALER, (JOHN KENNEDY FORD, 1403 RIDGE PIKE, CONSHOHOCKEN, PA 19428) RAN A CHECK OF THE CALIBRATION OF AIRBAG SENSORS." ALL OK, NO UPDATE NEEDED" - THEY GAVE ME A COPY OF SERVICE BULLETIN NO 08-001/13. THIS MENTIONS THAT THE ISSUE IS CAUSED BY MY SON SITTING INCORRECTLY IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. ATTEMPTED TO LATCH THE DRIVER SEATBELT, BUT THE LATCH WOULD NOT RECEIVE THE BELT. I HAD MY CX-9 GT DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I DROVE ON STREET AND STEPPED ON BRAKE THE PEDAL TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, BECAUSE MY BRAKE AT THIS TIME, ALL OF SUDDEN, TOOK LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE AS I EXPECTED. IT WAS A CLOSE CALL TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHILE MY BRAKING SYSTEM REACTED DIFFERENTLY. AFTER ALMOST HITTING THE CAR, I DROVE VERY CAUTIOUSLY IN A FEAR THAT I MIGHT LOSE THE CONTROL OF MY BRAKES TOTALLY; THE BAD FEELING FOR THE UNPREDICTABLE BRAKING SYSTEM REALLY PUT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IN A COMPROMISE. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR ONE AND HALF YEAR AND DROVE AROUND 24,000 MILES. THIS NEVER HAPPENED TO THE THREE CARS I HAVE DROVE IN MY 20 YEARS OF DRIVING HISTORY. THE BRAKING SYSTEM SHOULD BE DESIGNED AND PROVIDE WHAT IT SHOULD PERFORM WITHOUT ANY COMPROMISE. BUT THIS ONE DIDN'T DO THE JOB IT SHOULD. DON'T EVEN SEE ANY WARNING LIGHT IN THE DASH. TODAY, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE MAZDA SERVICE. THEY RESPONDED THAT ONE OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. THEY MENTIONED THAT THE "BRAKE BOOSTER" IS BROKEN. I AM SO SURPRISED AT HOW THESE INSTRUMENTAL SYSTEMS EASILY BREAK IN JUST LESS THAN TWO YEARS, WITHOUT ANY WARNING?? WOULD THIS BE A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT WOULD AFFECT ANY CX-9 MODELS AND CAUSE FURTHER LIFE THREATENING RESULTS. I LIKE TO POP UP THIS CONCERN TO THE SAFETY AUTHORITY FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS.
