TAKATA RECALL: I RECEIVED A LETTER IN 7/2015 STATING MY CAR'S AIR BAGS HAD BEEN RECALLED AND TO WAIT FOR A SECOND LETTER TO SCHEDULE A REPLACEMENT APPOINTMENT. NEVER RECIEVED 2ND LETTER AND NOW CAR IS NOT ON RECALL. I SUSPECT IT (MY CAR) WAS REPORTED AS HAVING AIR BAGS REPLACED WHICH HAS NOT HAPPENED. I AM CONCERNED AS IT WAS REPORTED ON THE NEWS THAT THIS TYPE OF THING HAS BEEN DONE A LOT. I'D LIKE MY AIRBAGS REPLACED WITH SAFE ONE...THANK YOU..

I CALLED DEALER 3 TIMES TO HAVE MY AIRBAGS REPLACED (FINAL RECALL 1317F). THIS WAS OVER THE COURSE OF 6 MONTHS. THEY NEVER CALL ME BACK. THE THIRD TIME I CALLED (ON 8/24/2017) I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK (AGAIN) IN ONE MONTH. THEY STILL HAVE NEVER CALLED ME BACK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V345000 (AIR BAGS) AND 15V382000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP AFTER HAVING EXPERIENCED THE 'AT' LIGHT COME ON AND A JOLTING IN SHIFTING GEARS AND A REAL " DRAG" WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FOLLOWING FAULT CODES "'TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID INTERMITTENT" AND "TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE SENSOR/SWITCH" INDICATE THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE I WAS SHOCKED THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR A 5 YEAR OLD CAR. I ONLY AVERAGE 12,500 MILES PER YEAR, HAVE HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE, HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A TRANSMISSION BREAKING DOWN ON SUCH A " YOUNG" CAR. I BELIEVE THEY BUILT THE CAR WITH A POOR QUALITY PRODUCT AND NOW THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. EVEN PRIOR TO THE CURRENT MILEAGE I HAD NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS JERKY AND "BUCKS" AND NOT POWERFUL WHEN ACCELERATING BUT I CHALKED IT UP TO IT BEING A 4 CYLINDER CAR-- PRIOR TO THIS VEHICLE I HAD OWNED 6 CYLINDER VEHICLES-- SO I DIDN'T KNOW THAT PERHAPS THESE THINGS WERE AN INDICATION OF A FAILING TRANSMISSION. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I FELT THAT MAZDA MAY HAVE A FAULTY/ CHEAP TRANSMISSION AND I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION BUT THEY WOULD NOT HEAR ME OUT. A TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BREAK DOWN AFTER ONLY 5 YEARS. MY PREVIOUS CARS LASTED UNTIL 120,000 -150,000 WITHOUT MAJOR BREAKDOWNS. I AM LIVID AND I FEEL I HAVE NO RECOURSE. WHEN THE CAR IS ACCELERATING SHIFT SHOCK OCCURS WHEN SHIFTING FROM GEAR 3 TO 4. IT DOESN'T ALWAYS OCCUR WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS COLD, BUT IS INEVITABLE AS THE TRANSMISSION WARMS. AS TIME GOES ON THE SHIFT SHOCK OCCURS UNDER LESS AND LESS OF A LOAD DUE TO THE WEARING OF A PART IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE ISSUE IS TO PURCHASE A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHEN PURCHASING THE TRANSMISSION YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU GET A TRANSMISSION THAT HAS BEEN REDESIGNED, OTHERWISE THE ISSUE WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. WE TALKED TO A MAZDA MASTER MECHANIC THAT SAID MAZDA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE AND EVEN WENT AS FAR AS CHANGING THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION WAS MADE SO THE PROBLEM WOULDN'T CONTINUE. THEY OBVIOUSLY KNOW THE ISSUE IS THEIR FAULT IF THEY CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THE TRANSMISSION, BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL AND OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKE. FROM WHAT WE UNDERSTAND, THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE HOUSING OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS MEANS YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT THE REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. The contact owns a 2008 Mazda Mazda6. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was fuel leaking from the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a leaking fuel tank. The contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The dealer added a protective coating. The failure reoccurred. The contact stated that an abnormal fuel odor was on the interior of the vehicle, and fuel was leaking onto the ground. The dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 08V412000 (Fuel system, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the part needed to be purchased to complete the repair. The failure mileage was 235,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD NOTICED SPIDERS IN THIS AREA SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V134000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY) WHICH STATED THAT A CERTAIN TYPE OF SPIDER COULD WEAVE A WEB IN THE EVAPORATIVE CANISTER VENT LINE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE A RESTRICTION IN THE LINE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR THE 2009-2010 MODEL MAZDA6. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 36,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

MY STEPSON WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR-END COLLISION WITH A 2008 MAZDA 6. THE DAMAGE IS SEVERE ENOUGH TO THE LEFT REAR AREA OF THE CAR I BELIEVE THE CAR IS TOTALED. IT WAS A 40-50 MPH IMPACT. THE FUEL TANK WAS EXPOSED AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND CRUSHED. MY CONCERN AND COMPLAINT IS WHY DIDN'T THE FUEL SAFETY CUTOFF ACTIVATE AFTER A HARD IMPACT IN THE REAR? I BELIEVE THERE IS A DEVICE MANDATED BY FEDERAL LAWS THAT AFTER A REAR END COLLISION OF THIS MAGNITUDE THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER THE IMPACT. IN THIS CASE IT DID START AND RUN SMOOTH. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOMEONE INVESTIGATE AS TO WHY THIS DEVICE WASN'T NOT PROPERLY FUNCTIONING AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. WHEN I PURCHASE MY NEW MAZDA 6, IT WAS DETERMINED ON A COMPUTER THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS CROOKED, BUT THE CAR WAS NOT OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THEN THE CAR STARTED PULLING HARD TO THE RIGHT. MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AT RANDOM INTERVALS. ALTHOUGH I HAVE A WARRANTY ON MY TIRES AND HAVE TAKEN IT IN 4 DIFFERENT TIMES, I AM TOLD EVERY TIME THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE IS FINE AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY SENSOR. WELL, OBVIOUSLY BOTH OF THOSE CAN'T BE TRUE IF MY LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON; WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT, ON THE FREEWAY, SOMETIMES AS A STEADY LIGHT, SOMETIMES BLINKING OFF AND ON, SOMETIMES WHEN I HIT A BUMP, OTHER TIMES WHEN I'VE BEEN DRIVING SMOOTHLY FOR MILES. MY CLUTCH STARTED TO GET STIFF AND I COULDN'T PUSH IT. EVENTUALLY THE CLUTCH PLATE FELL APART AND THE FELL THROUGH THE BODY OF THE CAR. THEN THAT CLUTCH PLATE FELL APART. THEN I GOT A WHOLE NEW CLUTCH ON 6/7/2013 AND IT FELT BAD BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID "IT'S A SELF-ADJUSTING CLUTCH, IT WILL LOOSEN UP OVER TIME." THEN IN MAY 2014, THE NOISE CAME BACK AND I COULD BARELY PUSH THE CLUTCH PEDDLE AGAIN SO I TOOK IT AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED A CLUTCH MASTER AND A CLUTCH SLAVE BUT IT MADE IT WORSE AND THE CAR MADE A HORRIBLE SOUND AFTER THEY PUT THOSE PARTS IN, SO THEY SAID THE ENTIRE CLUTCH WAS BAD AND THEY'D REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE NOISE DIDN'T GO AWAY SO THEY SAID I NEEDED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. I PROCEED TO MY DESTINATION AND PARK I GOT OUT AND LOOK SOME MORE AND NOTICE OIL RUNNING OUT OF MY BELL HOUSING. I TRIED TO START MY CAR ON SUNDAY MORNING (MARCH 18TH) AND IT WOULD NOT START. I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY. WHEN I WENT TO INSTALL IT, I NOTED THAT THE POSITIVE CABLE HAD CORRODED TO THE POINT WHERE IT COULD NO LONGER MAKE CONTACT WITH THE BATTERY TERMINAL. APPARENTLY, THE WIRING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $400. WHY WOULD THIS HAPPEN AT ONLY 39,000 MILES? I'M STILL WORKING THROUGH THIS WITH THE DEALER, BUT WANTED TO POST SOMETHING AS IT APPEARS OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I'M DEFINITELY NOT A MECHANIC BUT IT APPEARS THAT PEOPLE MIGHT BE HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING THEIR CAR, OR WITH BATTERIES NEEDING TO BE REPLACED PRE-MATURELY AND NOT REALIZING THAT IT'S DUE TO CORRODED CABLES. *JS

WE NOTICED THAT SUDDENLY OUR 2 YEAR OLD MAZDA 6, WITH ABOUT 18,000 MILES WAS BARELY BRAKING. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AND HAD A BRAKE INSPECTION AT THE DEALERSHIP 2,000 MILES AND 5 MONTHS PREVIOUSLY. THE FRONT BRAKES DID NOT SEEM TO BE ENGAGING AT ALL, AND WE NOTED RUST BUILD UP ON THE DISC THAT NO AMOUNT OF BRAKING COULD REMOVE. AN INSPECTION AT AN INDEPENDENT SHOP REVEALED LESS THAN 10% REMAINING LIFE ON THE REAR BRAKES, AND THEY NOTED THAT EXCESSIVE RUST HAD CAUSED THE BRAKES TO RUST OUT. THE CAR IS OPERATED IN KENTUCKY--NOT EXACTLY THE CENTER OF THE RUST BELT. I THINK DEFECTIVE BRAKE MATERIALS ARE LIKELY CAUSING THIS UNEXPECTED AND PREMATURE BRAKE FAILURE. I ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHED THE MOONROOF CONTROLS ON MY CAR AND THIS BLEW A FUSE WHICH WAS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE HEAT, CAUSING DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS (NONE OF MY WINDOWS DEFROSTED). THEY SAID THE MOONROOF WAS FROZEN SHUT AND BY ME TOUCHING THE CONTROL IT OVERLOADED THE FUSE. WHEN I WENT TO WALSER MAZDA IN BURNSVILLE THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD SEEN 3 OF THESE SAME INCIDENTS IN ONE WEEK. The front subframe totally rusted out and the wheel disconnected. I purchased this car in 2009, but it was a 2008 vehicle. Apparently there was a recall on this part for the 2009 through 2018 vehicles but it did not include the 2008, which had the exact same problem. My car was kept in the garage its entire life and the last 10 years, I was retired and did not even drive it in the snow. The car only has 79,000 miles. Even if my car was not included in the recall, you would think the manufacturer would have notified me of the flaw and the danger. I sold this car to my nephew in February of this year and he was deriving it when the wheel fell off and separated from the subframe. He could have been killed. Had I know the issues with this vehicle, I would never have sold it to him and would have just traded it in. I believe that we are owed some type of compensation from the dealer for this. Fortunately he was not driving on a highway when this happened. We have a quote of $1400 to replace this part and weld it back on.

DECEMBER 14, 2015 AROUND 6:40PM I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON HIGHWAY 275E AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH APPROACHING THE 71N EXIT RAMP . CAR AND DRIVER'S SEAT HEATER HAD BEEN RUNNING ABOUT 8 - 10 MINUTES. I SMELLED A BURNING SMELL. I WAS WEARING JEANS. WHEN LOOKING AROUND TO FIGURE OUT WHERE SMELL WAS COMING FROM, MY LEFT LEG CAME IN CONTACT WITH SEAT, I FELT A "BITE" SENSATION ON THE BACK OF MY LEG - IMMEDIATELY I THOUGHT PERHAPS MY SEAT WAS WAS ON FIRE. I DIDN'T SEE ANY ACTUALLY FLAMES, SO I TURNED OFF SEAT HEATER, AND OPENED THE WINDOWS - HOPING TO COOL OFF THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR TO PREVENT ANY SMOLDERING IN THE SEAT TO ADVANCE TO A FIRE (SOUNDS A STUPID NOW, BUT AT THE TIME IT SEEMED TO MAKE SENSE). CONTINUE DRIVING WITH ONE HAND, WINDOWS DOWN, AND FANNING SEAT WITH THE OTHER. WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, THE SMOKE/BURNING SMELL DISSIPATED. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME (ABOUT ANOTHER 10-15 MINUTE DRIVE FROM THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE), THE SEAT HAD COOLED. I OBSERVED A BURN SPOT ON DRIVER'S SEAT WHERE I FELT THE "BITE" ON THE BACK OF MY LEG. I ALSO THOUGHT MY JEANS WERE BURNT; HOWEVER, THAT TURNED OUT TO BE TRANSFER FROM THE BURNT MATERIAL FROM THE SEAT - I WAS ABLE TO SCRATCH MOST OF IT OFF WITH FINGERNAIL. ALSO, MY SKIN WAS NOT INJURED. I WILL BE CONTACTING MY LOCAL MAZDA DEALERSHIP TODAY.

IN ONE MONTH I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS. MAZDA 6I 2008 HAS TWO TIRE SENSORS FAIL, WHICH APPEAR TO BE DEFECTIVE IN NATURE DUE TO HOW LOW THE MILEAGE IS. THE TIRE SENSOR FOR RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER TIRE AND A TIRE SENSOR FOR REAR RIGHT PASSENGER TIRE HAVE FAILED AND THERE IS NOT EVEN 36,000 MILES ON THE CAR. WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT THAT COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT IF THE SENSOR FAILS WHILE DRIVING. 1. THERE WAS NO WARNING TO THIS FAILURE, I WAS ON A MOTORWAY (U.K) I CHECK MY OIL LEVELS EVERY SINGLE WEEK 2. I HAD AN ENGINE OVER-RUN AND COULD ONLY BE STOPPED BY SWITCHING THE ENGINE OFF, THE REV COUNTER HIT MAXIMUM AND A HUGE CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE WAS LEFT BEHIND ME. CONSEQUENCES ARE NOW I AM LEFT WITHOUT A CAR AND I COULD HAVE DIED BECAUSE I WAS APPROACHING A ROUNDABOUT 700 YARDS AWAY AND SWERVED BETWEEN 2 LANES OF MOVING TRAFFIC TO FORCE A STOP ON A LAY-BY. 3.
