My rear subframe rusted thru and has holes in it. It is too dangerous to drive and mazda won't recall the rear like the front subframe knowing that a lot of people are suffering from the same issue. A subframe should last a long time. My mechanic inspected the car and feels like it's not safe to drive.

I have a 2009 Mazda 6, the subframe/engine cradle has completely rusted out on the right side causing the lower control arm to detach from the frame while I was driving almost causing a accident luckily I was driving slow at the time. There was a recall for this exact issue, I contacted Mazda and they have no open recalls and can not help me

The passenger crash pad has deteriorated and become sticky and cracked. This may affect deployment of airbag and perhaps allow outside environmental elements to affect the airbag. The takata fiasco being an example of environmental factors affecting airbag safety.

The contact owns a 2009 Mazda Mazda6. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V594000 (Air Bags) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

CAR AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING ON DASH INDICATING NEED FOR REPAIR, TOOK TO LOT A I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM WHO REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG, STILL HAVE FLASHING AIRBAG LIGHT AND AM CONCERNED NOW AIRBAG WILL NOT INFLATE IN AN EMERGENCY AND THAT MY MAZDA 6 WAS OVERLOOKED DURING INITIAL RECALLS FOR OTHER MAZDA 6 OF THIS GENERATION AS IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH IT THAT ARE LISTED AS RECALLS FOR OTHERS.

Component or System that Failed: The front subframe on my 2009 Mazda 6i Touring is completely rusted through. There are holes in the frame and large flakes of rusted metal breaking off. The car is available for inspection if needed. Safety Risk: This is a serious safety concern because if the subframe fails, I could lose steering or suspension control while driving. That would put me and other drivers at immediate risk of an accident. Reproduction / Confirmation: An independent mechanic confirmed the problem and told me the car is unsafe to drive in its current condition. Inspection: The vehicle had the original Mazda subframe corrosion recall performed years ago, but now the same exact problem has come back. The car has not yet been re-inspected by Mazda, but the severity of the rust is obvious. Warning Lamps / Symptoms: There were no warning lights or messages before this happened. The issue was only noticed when the rust and holes became visible on the underside of the car during a recent inspection.

Hello, My name is [XXX] . I took our Mazda 6 in for wheel balance and alignment and was informed of very serious rust issues in the rear suspension. I was pretty shocked at what they showed me. I worked at Raben Tire for 10 years and I've never seen anything like this. I have two retired mechanic friends look at it, and they (along with the mechanic from firestone) said they cannot even fathom how this level of rust is possible (80+% of the miles on this vehicle are highway). One of my retired mechanic friends started looking into it and said he'd noticed the 09 Mazda recalls for suspension rust. We all thought that made sense given how immensely abnormal this rusting is. The recall list sent to me says "front" suspension. I'm not sure why the front is listed and not the rear, but this, to all of us, is very clearly faulty (the rusting is INCREDIBLY abnormal) and we believe should be considered as part of the suspension rust recall (there are no rusting issues anywhere else). Ive provided pictures. This is incredibly unsafe. The rear suspension could collapse at any moment while driving and cause casualties. The rear Suspension Frame has failed due to corrosion. The right rear tire has worn severely from the premature failure of that part on the right side. I feel it was a defect in Engineering by Mazda. The rear frame has failed due to corrosion on the right side. The rear passenger tire is canted in on the topside worn severely worn. This was noted when I drove home from my job. This is a critical part of the vehicle and should've never failed. I'm hopeful to hear from the NHTSB for a repair to be done properly by Mazda;

Rear suspension cross-member corroded to the point that a minor pothole separated the right lower control arm mounting point from the cross-member, rendering the car undrivable. The rest of the car is fairly rust-free.

This car was purchased in 2017 and maintenanced regularly. We recently took it to have the oil changed and to check out a noise that was coming from the passenger side. We were told that the subframe was rusted so badly it was too dangerous to drive and would cost $7k to repair. That caught us by surprise and we ended up having to buy a car by the next day. We traded the car in… However, I started doing some research and noted that this is very common and there was a recall between 2010 and 2014. I’m pretty upset that we lost this car without having any recall notification after the purchase. Could this have been taken care of instead of having to get a new car?

On October 13, almost lost control of my vehicle while driving at normal speeds in good weather. The car tried to pull off the road with every bump I hit. Drove it to tire dealership as I thought there might be problem with tire or suspension. Mechanic there told me the front engine frame ($595 part, approx $1100 labor) was completely rusted & he didn't know how I was able to drive it. I had it towed to my regular mechanic who said the frame has to be replace. Just in November 2022, I had to pay $290 (parts only) and approx $1100 labor for the rear frame to be replaced due to rust. I know this says the recall had been done but if so, the rear frame shouldn't need replacing again. I tried talking with Mazda for 30 minutes & they were no help. The web is filled with complaints about the front & rear subframes rusting out. It is extremely dangerous for Mazda to ignore this issue. I am attaching receipt from 2022 for the part & will have the receipt soon for the front engine subframe as soon as the mechanic is finished with the work.

The rear subframe is absoutley rotted out from the car. Bought used and did not see until recently. Car was a Rhode Island car and was in Mass for a while. The rear wheels are concaved in and it is not only my car MULTIPLE owners of this generation car have experienced this these cars obly have the front subframe but not the rear! This particulat rear subframe is especially rotted THROUGH near the suspension! This is NOT ONLY MY CAR BYT MULTIPLES MAZDA 6'S!!! GOOGLE IT! I WILL SEND PICTURES LATER WHEN REQUESTED! IT IS LATE AND RAINING RIGHT NOW!

I own a mazda 6 2009 and i have taken it to the dealership and even paid out of own pocket a rental car for 2 hours while they fixed a recal and then they get it done mind u im already 2 hours away from home so i go pick my car back up and they call me the next day needing my car badly to fix the other recals well this time they was willing to meet me with a loaner vehical half way.. Well its been 3 weeks now havent heard from them or anything and i just got a call today sayimg my car is finally done well i get online and it dont show really were they fixed anything but supposely my sub frame had to be fixed.. I just fill something to do with sub frame is dangours and later down the road im a mom of 2 i dont need something that has sub frame problems thats scary

ENGINE SURGES WHEN I BRAKE, BUT NOT ALWAYS. USUALLY IT IS WHEN I'M GOING STRAIGHT AHEAD, HOWEVER, IT HAS DONE IT IN A TURN AND ONCE BACKING UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY, AND AFTER I HAD THROTTLE BODY CLEANING DONE TWO WEEKS AGO.

The front and rear crossmembers have significant rust. The front has holes and chunks of metal missing due to rust corrosion. The rear has flaking and is deeply pockmarked with rust. These are structural components. Failure can lead to a crash.

2009 Mazda 6 Rear subframe and springs are deemed unsafe due to extreme rusting and corrosion. The vehicle is registered and has been registered in both NY and PA (salt states), however was regularly washed and garage maintained. Vehicle will no longer pass inspection due to this issue and Mazda indicates no recall for the rear at this time and is ignoring that this is a highly prevalent issue. Mazda recalled and acknowledged this issue on these makes/models related to the front; however refuses to acknowledge and repair/recall the issue extending to the rear. The vehicle is in otherwise good shape, and the extreme rusting to the subframe/springs is not consistent with normal wear and tear. This is an extremely prevalent issue arising to these vehicles being ignored by Mazda. Mechanics are indicating the issue is extremely deteriorated and not safe, but that the vehicle is in otherwise good shape and the issue is consistent with faulty parts.

"What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request?" - Rear subframe. Total rust through due to improper steel alloy and insufficient paint. Same as happened for the front subframe. Front subframe was recalled as 2818I (Mazda's number) and 19V-323, 18V-631 (NHTSA numbers). NHTSA should also mandate rear subframe be recalled. "How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk?" - Total catastrophic structural failure of rear suspension. Would result in a total loss of control while driving. This would likely lead to a severe, possibly fatal accident at-speed. "Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?" - As reported by independent service center. "Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others?" - no, this exact vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer. Manufacturer is doubtless aware of the issue. A cursory google search leads to dozens of identical cases. "Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear?" - there were no warnings of the failure prior to discovery by service center.

The contact owns a 2009 Mazda Mazda6. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal squealing sound coming from the front of the vehicle while turning, also while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered corrosion and a hole on the front passenger’s side suspension cross member. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer who confirmed the diagnosis and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V631000 (Suspension, Structure). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 85,600.

The sensors on my alarm system will randomly activate, with alarm going off at 30 second intervals. The problem began approximately 6 months ago. I took the initiative to replace my cars battery, along with the battery in my fab. I really thought that solved my problem, as a first step fix. I began once again to identify the sound of my car alarm in multiple parking lots throughout time. I have been investigating this problem, and have read that this alarm problem has been sited by many Mazda 6 owners. I am the original owner of the 2009 Mazda 6 Grand Touring, and have 67,000 miles driven. I called the Repair Department at my dealership, and was told that it cost $185.00 for just the diagnosis. My auto insurance company policy price is based on using a secured vehicle. Right now I only can leave it unlocked in my garage, otherwise, my vehicle is at risk of being stolen.

THE OTHER DAY WENT TO DRIVE THE CAR WOULD NOT START. NO ACC ON REMOTE START BUTTON, KEY IN IGNITION, STILL WOULD NOT START. CHECKED ALL FUSES, THE BATTERY. TOOK DASH APART, REMOVED STEREO, CHECKED ALL WIRING HARNESSES ALL TESTED GOOD. HAD IT TOWED UP TO OLYMPIA MAZDA. THEY ARE CURRENTLY TROUBLESHOOTING. RECALLED AIRBAG WAS SWITCHED OUT A FEW YEARS AGO AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON ABOUT A YEAR LATER. POSSIBLY THE CAR THINKS THERE HAS BEEN AN COLLISON AND THE CAR IS IN LOCKDOWN MODE. TECHNICIAN WAS COMPLETELY BAFFLED. WILL CALL THEM TOMORROW AND ASK THEM TO CHECK THE ECM, BCM OR WHAT NOT. OTHER THAN THIS. HAVE NEVER HAD AN MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. WOULD PURCHASE AGAIN.

THE ORIGINAL FACTORY BULBS OF THE TAIL LIGHT / BRAKE LIGHT ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF MY 2009 MAZDA 6 TOURING ARE MELTING THE RED PLASTIC INSIDE THE LENS AND BECOMING DEFORMED. THIS IS CAUSING VISIBILITY ISSUES FOR VEHICLES BEHIND ME AS THE LIGHT IS SHINING THROUGH AS WHITE INSTEAD OF RED. THE EXTERIOR LENS IS NOT DAMAGED, JUST THE INTERIOR LENS CLOSEST TO THE BULBS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR AND NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD LEAD TO A FIRE AND REDUCED BRAKE LIGHT VISIBILITY FOR DRIVERS DRIVING BEHIND ME. *JS

STEERING

While driving 40mph heard a pop, hissing sound and unable to steer vehicle. Stopped at roadside to examine tires, which were ok. Incredibly difficult to steer wheel and to stay on the road while swerving. I was within a mile of Belle Tire for a mechanic to look at my Mazda 6. He showed me how the open recall on the front crossmember was repaired only on the right wheel side, and the left front wheel had the same amount of rust completely broken apart. A phone call was made to the Mazda dealer closest, problem was relayed to service manager, and said even with my pictures, Mazda needs inspection on vehicle, and wait for repair was a month. As my only vehicle ,it took 2 days to get repaired by Belle Tire. I went with my receipt, and 10 photos, to the Service Department Manager that did the original recall work to discuss what transpired, and request a reimbursement for the incomplete repair on this open recall. He was not there. I then asked to speak to the Service Department Director. He also was not there. The Mechanic Supervisor took my name and phone number for one of the managers to call me regarding this problem. I have not received any communication from either Managers, which now has been since last week. There were NO warning lights on the dashboard when this occurred. I have had this vehicle since new, and only 61,000 miles.

TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING MY CAR TO WORK AND THE STEERING RACK WENT OUT OF IT THE CAR ONLY HAS 116,000 MILES ON IT.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO NOT BE ALIGNED. I THEN NOTICED THE STEERING RESPONSE WASN'T THERE LIKE IT USUALLY WAS. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STARTED STEERING AS IF IT WERE A BOAT. A DELAY IN THE STEERING RESPONSE WAS CREATING A DANGEROUS DRIVING EXPERIENCE. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TOLD ME THAT THE PART THAT HOLDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. I COULD NOT TAKE THE CAR BACK WITH ME AS IT WAS TOO UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD. IT'S BEEN 4 WEEKS NOW AND STILL MY CAR SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 90K ON IT AND IS IN GREAT CONDITION OTHER THAN THAT. FOUR WEEKS OF NO CAR AND NO WORD ON ANYTHING ABOUT HOW IT'S GOING TO GET FIXED HAS COST ME MONEY IN RENTALS AND ALSO KEPT ME FROM GETTING TO ALL THE JOBS I NEED TO GET TO. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON MY OWN SINCE I KEEP CALLING AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT, I'M NOTICING SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. THIS ISN'T A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE LIKE BRAKES OR TIRES. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING AND ENGINEERING ISSUE THAT HAS FAILED. ANY INFORMATION ON THIS WOULD BE GREAT!

STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. WE THOUGHT IT NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT NUT 2 DAYS LATER THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. THIS WAS DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP TO DISCOVER THE SUB FRAME HAS RUSTED INTO TWO. $1700 MINIMUM TO REPAIR WITH A USED PART.

GARAGE KEPT MAZDA 6. WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 40 A PERSON CUT INTO MY LANE AND UNDER HARD BRAKING WE HEARD A LOUD GRINDING SOUND AND THE CAR PULLED HARD RIGHT. WE PULLED OVER AND THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEABLE. HAD IT TOWED HOME TO FIND THE SUBFRAME BROKE BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF CORROSION THERE COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE CAR.

IN ADDITION, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. VALVE STEM SHEARED OFF OF TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR. I HAD THE CAR SERVICED YESTERDAY. DURING THE OIL CHANGE, THE TECHNICIAN ALSO INFLATED THE TIRES TO 32LBS EACH. TODAY THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM INDICATED A LOW TIRE. PASSENGER REAR TIRE WAS 23.5 POUNDS. AS I WAS PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRE, THE VALVE STEM LITERALLY SHEARED OFF CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF AIR AND A FLAT TIRE. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DRIVING TO WORK ON HIGHWAY 44 WHEN I NOTICED THE HANDLING WAS REALLY BAD. HAD TO COME TO A QUICK STOP AND APPLIED BRAKE PRESSURE WHEN RHW XAR SUDDENLY SWERVES TO THE RIGHT. UPON GETTING THE CAR UNDER CONTROL I HAD TO RUN THW STERRING WHEEL 3/4 TO THE LEFT TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT. MADE IT TO WORK BY DRIVING SLOW AND CONITINUING STEERING LEFT. CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP. MY MECHANIC REPLACED A WHEEL BEARING AND TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE. HE LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THW CAR TWICE; TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND DISCOVERED THE SUBFRAME COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM

SUBFRAME RUST THE FRONT PASSENGER SUBFRAME IS SEVERELY RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT TMY LOCAL MAZDA DEALER (ALDEN MAZDA IN FAIRHAVEN, MA) DIDNT WANT TO PERFORM ROUTINE MAINTENANCE DUE TO THEIR CONCERNS OVER THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS POINT. I DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 150 TO 200 MILES ON MOST DAYS AND I'M VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. I PURCHASED THE CAR ON FEBRUARY OF 2018 WITH ONLY 68,000 MILES ON IT. AS OF JULY 30TH 2018 IT'S AT APPROXIMATELY 79,000 MILES.

BOUGHT 2009 MAZDA 6 BRAND NEW. CAR HAS 140,000 MILES WELL MAINTAINED. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH A TRUCK PULLING A TRAILER. THE TRUCK WAS AT A STOP SIGN FACING WEST, I HAD RIGHT OF WAY DRIVING NORTH, TRUCK DRIVER PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME TURNING LEFT TO GO SOUTH. MY SPEED APROX.40MPH TO DEAD STOP.. MY VEHICLE NEVER LEFT THE ROAD OR NO IMPACT WITH OTHER VEHICLE. AS I STARTED TO DRIVE STRAIGHT, I HAD TO KEEP MY STEERING 20-30 DEGREES TO LEFT BECAUSE MY CAR PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK FOR FLAT TIRE. THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND PROCEED TO A MAZDA DEALER APROX 2 MILES SOUTH . I LEFT THE CAR THERE FOR MAZDA TO INSPECT. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THE FRONT SUB FRAME HAD SPLIT/CRACKED DUE TO RUST CORROSION--"THATS NORTHEAST OHIO FOR YOU". REPAIR ESTIMATE $2000-$2500. REPAIRS ARE NOT DONE. DEALERSHIP HAS ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT FOR A SHORT TIME. MY CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED TO WORK WITH ME TO "PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE " .

IT SEEMS MAZDA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN SB-02-001-12 BUT NOT A RECALL AT THIS TIME (MARCH 4 2015) FROM 4 TPMS SENSORS ON THE 2009 MAZDA 6, TWO (2) OF THEM FAILED ONE DAY AFTER ANOTHER. BOTH SENSORS FAILED AT THE VALVE STEM. HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 SENSORS DUE TO BEING AFRAID THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE COULD HAPPENED AT 60 MILES/H ON THE INTERSTATE. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TPMS SENSORS IS CONTINENTAL AND THEY ALREADY HAVE A DIFFERENT PART # FOR THE SENSOR (CONTINENTAL VDI REDI-SENSOR SE10001HP-AZ). DRIVING ON I-94 WEST,NEAR ANN ARBOR, MI. FELT VIBRATION, THEN LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW. MANAGED TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER AND CHANGED TIRE. I LEFT THE DEALER AND WENT TO FIRESTONE AND THEY REPAIRED THE CRACKED RIM (2ND TIME). ON JANUARY 11, 2014, MY AUNT AND I RETURNED FROM FOOD SHOPPING AROUND 3PM. I PARKED THE CAR AT MY AUNT'S HOUSE TO UNPACK THE FOOD FROM THE TRUNK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA MAZDA6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE VALVE STEM WAS CORRODED AND CAUSING THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE TIRES OR THE VALVE STEM. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED TWICE. THE DEALER FIRST REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERS EXPENSE BUT DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRING THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WHEN I WENT TO GO REMOVE THE VALVE STEM CAP TO CHECK THE AIR PRESSURE, THE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF WITH THE VALVE CAP REVEALING THE VALVE CORE. THE TIRE WAS DEFLATED WITHIN SECONDS. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE VALVE STEM SHOWED THAT IT WAS CORRODED. THE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF EXACTLY AT THE POINT WHERE THE CAP WAS SCREWED TO. WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE LOW PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I ATTEMPTED TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO CHECK MY TIRE BUT THE TIRE WENT FLAT TOO QUICKLY. I HAD TO CHANGE THE TIRE ON THE ROAD. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING DEVICE HAD FAILED AND FALLEN INSIDE THE TIRE RESULTING IN A RAPID PRESSURE DROP. CORROSION HAD CAUSED THE NUT TO BREAK APART AND FALL OFF. VALVE STEM CRACKED THEN COMPLETELY BROKE OFF UNDER THE PLASTIC CAP. THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON 2-3 DAYS PRIOR TO INCIDENT. EACH MORNING WHEN COLD DURING FIRST START UP LIGHT WOULD COME ON, AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING AFTER VEHICLE WARMED LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF. ON WAY HOME FROM WORK TRAVELING 70MPH LIGHT CAME BACK ON. TOOK THE NEXT EXIT AND STOPPED AT GAS STATION TO FILL UP TIRES, REMOVED VALVE STEM CAP AND INSTALLED AIR HOSE. AIR HOSE COULD NOT FILL UP TIRE, AIR JUST CAME OUT OF THE SIDE OF STEM, REINSTALLED VALVE CAP. AT THAT TIME WE DIDN'T KNOW THE STEM WAS CRACKED SO I DROVE THE CAR VERY SLOWLY APPROX 3 MILES TO MY PARENTS HOUSE SO MY DAD COULD HELP. HE TRIED TO REMOVE THE VALVE CAP, AT THIS TIME THE STEM COMPLETELY BROKE OFF AT THE THREADS AND STAYED WITH THE CAP. THE STEM INTERNAL PARTS SPRANG OUT SO IT WAS NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE TIRE AND INSTALL THE SPARE. WE TOOK THE TIRE TO NEAREST BELLE TIRE SO THEY COULD REPLACE THE STEM BUT SINCE IT WAS A DEALER ONLY PART ALL THEY COULD WAS REPLACE IT WITH A STANDARD RUBBER STEM WITH NO SENSOR. THEY MENTIONED IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THEY HAD SEEN BEFORE, TO WHICH I WAS VERY SURPRISED. THESE SENSORS WERE CREATED TO COMBAT LOW AIR PRESSURE AFTER THE "TREAD ACT" AND IRONICALLY ARE CAUSING A LOW AIR PRESSURE. THE ORIGINAL CAUSE OF THE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS DUE TO A SLIGHTLY BENT RIM ON THE INSIDE. THIS HAD A SLOW LEAK AFTER BELLE TIRE REPLACED THE STEM. WE TOOK THE TIRE TO BRIGHTON MAZDA THE FOLLOWING DAY TO REPLACE THE SENSOR, THEY TOO SAID THEY HAD SEEN CRACKED STEMS IN THE PAST. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND DETERMINE IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. The rear sub frame on this vehicle was not painted and/or coated to properly withstand the corrosion that is caused by the salt used to treat the roads in the winter. This can cause serious issues.

Rear subframe corrosion/complete rot out, suspension complete rot out, and other components due to salt from the road and Mazda not correctly painting the components: 2009 Mazda 6I 2.5 Noticable drop in the back of the car. The tire wells are almost touching the rear tires. The rear tires are leaning inward, also putting inside ware on the new tires. The rear of the vehicle fishtails while driving. It takes bumps very hard. No suspension. When you hit a bump, the rest of the car is all over the road. Very dangerous driving conditions, as the fishtailing throws you into other lanes, possibly into other traffic. Took vehicle to Meinke on 3-15-23, was told and shown the damages to the rear suspension and rear subframe and other rear components. Vehicle is not safe to drive until fixed. Called Mazda dealer, was notified of recall on front subframe, but not the rear. Have appointment on 3-29-23 to drop off at Mazda dealer to get the front subframe serviced. My front subframe is not the issue, not that I know of yet anyways. My rear is the issue. Why was it not recalled with the front? Why are they allowed to risk the lives and safety of so many for not servicing the rear also? This needs to be recalled, and I am definitely going as far as I can into getting something done about this. I do not have the funds to pay out of pocket to get this fixed, or funds to go out and buy a new car. I am a mother of a toddler, and disabled. I'm hoping to get a class action lawsuit against Mazda for this, or at the VERY least, a recall to fix this issue also. I live in Indiana, we have some snowy winters, so salt is used on the roadways. I believe the car came from Ohio before I purchased it from Kentucky. I purchased the car on March 27, 2021. Have only had "normal" maintenance issues or water and tare before this, and actually love the vehicle! It has been a great vehicle, other then this issue.

Component - Rear subframe/crossmember. Yes it is available for inspection. I was driving and suddenly heard a loud crack and the rear drivers side of my vehicle dropped to the ground. I was getting ready to pull into a parking lot so I was luckily driving slowly. If I were traveling at the normal speed limit, I could have wrecked and possibly caused injury to myself or others on the road. Upon inspection from the mechanic, the rear subframe is completely rusted out and broke as a result. After research, I found that the front subframe/crossmember was recalled in 2018 for rust issues. This car had the recalled repaired. But Mazda has no recall for the rear. There were no warnings that this was going to happen.

I BROUGHT MY 2009 MAZDA6 IN FOR THE RECALLED FRONT CROSS MEMBER CORROSION SAFETY RECALL. AFTER AN INSPECTION I WAS TOLD IT QUALIFIED FOR A REPLACEMENT. I AUTHORIZED THE WORK AND PICKED THE CAR UP A FEW DAYS LATER. WE DID NOT RECEIVE THE NORMAL MAINTENANCE SHEET. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE AT (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) LIGHT CAME ON AND TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP. WE SERVICED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WITH 3 QUARTS AND FOUND DAMAGE AND LEAK JUST ABOVE THE CROSS MEMBER RECALL REPAIR. WE RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND INFORMED MAZDA CUSTOMER CARE. WALSER MAZDA OF BURNSVILLE SAID THE TRANSMISSION LINE HAS RUSTED AND REPAIR COSTS WOULD BE AROUND $400. I SAID THE DAMAGE TO THE LINE WAS WHEN THE RECALL REPAIR WAS DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A CRACK IN THE UPPER PORTION OF THE FUEL TANK. A TEMPORARY REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V134000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

The driver's side low beam headlight wiring harness melts and seems to be continuing problem. Even after replacing stock, (which melted,) with a better wiring harness it still began to melt and loose circuit, but like I said it was doing this before ever being replaced. Happens every couple months are so depending on amount of night driving. I have read several complaints about this happening to several owners of the same vehicle on the same drivers side with the same original harness and replacements doing this same melting and frequent on/off short circuit malfunctioning. THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS GO BAD ON THIS CAR WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO BELIEVE ONE OF THE DOORS IS OPEN WHEN IT IS NOT. THE DOME LIGHTS ARE DRIVEN BY THE DOOR ACTUATORS SENSING THAT A DOOR IS OPEN, SO WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF. VERY DISTRACTING, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. THE LIGHTS TURNING ON AND OFF ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN, I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT WHEN STATIONARY. USUALLY IT OCCURS DURING TURNS AND THE LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE DOOR ACTUATORS ARE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS CAR AND HAS MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLINE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW. THE DOOR ACTUATOR BEING FAULTY ALSO CAUSES THE SECURITY ALARM TO GO OFF AND START SOUNDING THE CAR'S HORN SPORADICALLY. THE CAR WILL BE PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY WITH NOBODY AROUND THROUGH ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND IT WILL GO OFF. HEADLIGHT HARNESS COMES LOOSE FREQUENTLY, RESULTING IN LOSS OF HEADLIGHT. MUST EITHER HIT THE HEADLIGHT FORCEFULLY OR MANUALLY SECURE HEADLIGHT BY REMOVING WHEEL WELL. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ON YOUTUBE HAVE REPORTEDLY EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECT. UNCERTAIN WHETHER THIS OCCURS WHILE STATIONARY OR MOVING, BUT IMAGINE VIBRATION FROM MOTION WILL KNOCK IT LOOSE AGAIN. Passenger side dash is melting and causes a bad glare on the windshield making it hard to see, there is also a glare at night with the street lights. My wife has called several times over the past 5 years about the recall but was told they are not going to fix it and not to call back. I called the Mazda recall team on 10-4-21, they said they would replace the dash and connected me to a local dealer to set up an appointment to get the dash replaced and 3 other recalls fixed. The dealer ( Mazda of Cool Springs in Franklin TN) said they would not replace the dash due to the 10 year warranty period had expired. According to the news I found on the internet there is no limit on getting dash replaced. This is a safety hazard that several people are complaining about and needs to be fixed. Please help.

HELLO, I PURCHASED MY A MAZDA FROM A MAZDA DEALER IN MY AREA. AT THE TIME OF MY CAR PURCHASE IN 2017, THEY CHOSE NOT TO FIX THE DASHBOARD RECALL BEFORE SELLING ME THE CAR. NOW DURING SUMMER 2020 MY DASHBOARD HAS SHOWN TO BECOME STICKY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT IS NOW STARTING TO OBSTRUCT MY VIEW WITH A GLARE, MAKING IT HARDER FOR ME TO SEE OUT OF MY WINDSHIELD. THE DASH HAS DEVELOPED A GLOSSY SHEEN FROM THE DETERIORATION OF THE MATERIAL. DUE TO THE DETERIORATION, THE DASH CANNOT BE CLEANED AND OVER THE PAST YEAR THE AFFECTED AREA HAS GROWN. DUE TO THE GLOSSY NATURE OF THE AFFECTED AREA, LIGHT REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING REDUCED VISIBILITY. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHEN TURNING AND THE CHANGE IN ANGLE OF THE SUNLIGHT AND THE RESULTING REFLECTION HAS PREVENTED THE DRIVER FROM SEEING OBJECTS IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE AS IT TURNS TO THE RIGHT INCLUDING PEDESTRIANS AND CARS ENTERING THE ROADWAY. THE INCIDENT OF CLOSE CALLS WILL INCREASE WITH THE INCREASE IN THE AFFECTED AREA OF THE DASH AND WILL BECOME INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS IF THE AFFECTED AREA SPREADS TO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE DASH.

I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, WHICH HAS A SLIGHT CURB TO IT, AND HEARD A CLUNK OR POP FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. DROVE DOWN MY STREET AND TO A HIGHWAY ON-RAMP AND WHILE TURNING ONTO THE RAMP THE STEERING FELT LOOSE (REQUIRED MORE STEERING ANGLE THAN NORMAL TO TURN SAME AMOUNT). WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, TO KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT, THE WHEEL NEEDED TO BE HELD TURNED LEFT ~20DEGREES. I DROVE TO THE 1ST EXIT TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY RIGHT AWAY, AND WHILE APPLYING BRAKES, THE CAR PULLED TO THE RIGHT. GOING ON CITY STREETS TO TRY TO RETURN HOME, A TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED YELLOW, AND APPLIED BRAKES AGAIN AND CAR PULLED ALMOST OVER INTO THE RIGHT HAND LANE. INSPECTION AGENCY FOUND THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED TO THE POINT OF NEAR FAILURE. HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT A REPLACEMENT USING A USED CHASSIS WILL COST OVER $1500. I HAVE LIVED IN NEW JERSEY/PENNSYLVANIA FOR ALL BUT 8 MONTHS I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 2009. FROM READING ABOUT OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, IT SEEMS THE ENGINE CRADLES WERE NOT MADE TO HANDLE THOSE WINTER CONDITIONS. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL GENERATE A RECALL SINCE IT SEEMS LIKE A COMMON OCCURRENCE. UPDATE TO NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11074904 ON 7/8/18, THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER ENGINE CRADLE FAILED, WHICH HAS RESULTED IN THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF BEING ABLE TO STEER THE CAR. THE CAR IS NOW UNSAFE TO OPERATE AND DRIVE WHATSOEVER. I HAVE BEEN WAITING 4.5 MONTHS FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO PROVIDE THE REPLACEMENT OEM PART WHICH I HAD SCHEDULED THE REPAIR IN THE BEGINNING OF MARCH 2018. THE MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO SELL THE PART TO THE MECHANIC, AND THE DEALER SAID THE PRICE OF THE OEM PART HAS NOW DOUBLED. HE SAID IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND RECOMMENDED THAT WE TAKE THE CAR TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS VERY UNDERSTANDING BUT COULD NOT MAKE ANY JUDGMENT. HE CONSULTED WITH MAZDA CORPORATE. CORPORATE RULED THAT SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE PART. AS A GESTURE OF GOODWILL THEY PAID FOR THE PART WHICH WAS $73.28, AND CHARGED ME $405.00 IN LABOR TO INSTALLATION. TO ME, I WOULD CERTAINLY LIKE TO GET REIMBURSED MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. I own a 2009 mazda 6 witch is my only vehicle I had tooken it to a mechanic shop due to noise comming from the front and rear of the car under farther investigation I was notified by the mechanic that the entire front and rear subframes were badly rotted and rusty i than took the car to a mazda dealer for further inspection we’re I was notified that they would replace the front sub frame under recall but I would still have to pay out of pocket for all the other suspension components long story short I was given an estimate of thousands n thousands of dollars that I could not afford and was told the car is unsafe to drive mainly due to the rear subframe and components bein severely rusted I would just like to know why there hasent been a recall for the rear subframe on this vehicle when there has been hundreds of other complaints about the same thing I’m goin through about the same year make and model vehicle so now I am out of a vehicle due to it bein unsafe to drive that could cost me my job

I took my car to the mechanic for some routine maintenance and they called to tell me they discovered that the rear subframe is completely corroded. They say the car is not safe to drive, as it could come apart at any moment, and it will cost so much to repair (current estimate is $8000 and still climbing!) that it may be better for me to buy a new car (which I cannot afford). The mechanic expressed shock at how badly the subframe has deteriorated. He said it is in much worse shape than the rest of the car, which I have always maintained carefully. In 2019 my car was recalled for a defective front cross-member, which the dealer replaced. I was told at the time that it was recalled because the coating applied to it was defective and did not protect the part from corrosion. Based on my research, it seems that the same defective coating was applied to the rear subframe, and that it is why it has rusted so quickly and severely. I see that the NHTSA is already aware of this issue - [XXX] . The exact problem I am having is described in [XXX] : "Mazda6 owners told NHTSA there was severe corrosion of the right rear subframes that caused the steering rack mounting bolts to fail." It is completely unacceptable that Mazda replaced the defective part in the front but has not replaced the similarly defective part in the rear, which has failed for the same reason. I am furious that this has made my beloved car, which is otherwise in very good shape and runs beautifully, undriveable. THIS PAST WEEK, WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE TO AND FROM WORK ON A PUBLIC ROADWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS OFF-CENTER AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THE SUB FRAME IS COMPLETELY SPLIT IN HALF AND ALL CORRODED. THE VEHICLE IS UNDRIVEABLE RIGHT NOW. IT'S GOING TO BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR.

Car was bought used and I had no prior knowledge of sunroof being non-factory installed or that it was part of a possible recall. I was driving down a highway when the sunroof started flapping then flew off and shattered in the median. The glue is completely worn off and there is a lot of rust. This could be a severe danger for the cars behind me because it could’ve hit them and caused an accident. I’ve been trying to get it fixed for over a month and a half and the people at Webasto have not been helpful. I’ve talked to two people total and they haven’t called me back when they said they would. It’s unsafe for me to drive without a sunroof and it also causes damage to the interior of my car when it rains.

ON JANUARY 25, 2014, I HAD MY CAR SERVICE AT A S. FLORIDA MAZDA DEALERSHIP FOR A 2013 RECALL ON THE DOOR LATCH MOUNTING SCREWS. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE SCREWS MAY BECOME LOOSE. IF ALL THREE DOOR LATCH MOUNTING SCREWS BECOME LOOSE AND FALL OUT, THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED, AND THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. CURRENTLY, I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY DOORS AND THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ILLUMINATING. IN ADDITION, DUE TO THIS ISSUE, MY BATTERY THAT I HAD REPLACED IN MAY 2020 DOES NOT WORK. MY CAR DID NOT START. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT TOLD ME THAT MY DOOR LATCH ON 2 DOORS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE MY CAR THINKS THE DOOR IS AJAR AND THIS CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DRAIN EVEN WITH THE CAR TURNED OFF. IT SOUNDS LIKE THESE ISSUES COULD BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE 2013 RECALL. FURTHERMORE, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR ALARM GOES OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND THE TECHNICIAN ATTRIBUTED THIS TO THE DOOR LATCH ISSUE. SO ALL OF THE ABOVE ISSUES CAN BE TRACED BACK TO THE 2013 RECALL ON DOOR LATCHES. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT ON THE DOOR LATCHES. THEREFORE, THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS WITHOUT CHARGE TO ME. RIGHT NOW, MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 1 WEEK AND 2 DAYS.

WHEN AC OR HEAT WAS ON AT ANY SPEED, IT WOULD RUN FOR A FEW MINS. THEN STOP BLOWING OUT AIR BEFORE SLOWLY DYING OUT. IT WOULD MAKE NOISE LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO WORK AGAIN, BUT THEN WOULDN'T. TOOK IT TO MAZDA DEALERSHIP. THEY DID "TEST ON AC/HVAC SYSTEM & FOUND FAULTY CONTROL HEAD DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURE." THEY INSTALLED A HEATER CONTROL & THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED FOR A WHILE. 3 MONTHS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THE "HVAC BLOWER MOTOR WAS TRIPPING OUT ON INTERNAL THERMAL OVERLOAD" SO THEY REPLACED THE HVAC BLOWER MOTOR. WHILE THAT WAS GETTING FIXED, I ALSO HAD THEM LOOK INTO ANOTHER PROBLEM I WAS HAVING. THE TCS/DSC LIGHT WOULD STAY LIT FOR 10-15 MINS AFTER I STARTED MY CAR AND SOMETIMES WOULD JUST RANDOMLY COME ON WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP DID TEST & FOUND "CODE C0034 - RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL RATE OUT OF RANGE & C0027, C0048 - RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN, TECH MONITORED SENSOR & FOUND INTERNAL SENSOR FAILURE. CORRECTED BY ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. INSTALLED GS3L-43-70X: RIGHT FRONT ABS SENSOR."

FOR THE LAST YEAR, THE CAR ALARM IN MY 2009 MAZDA 6 HAS BEEN GOING OFF SPORADICALLY BY ITSELF AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY WHILE PARKED IN MY APARTMENT BUILDING PARKING LOT. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS, AND A FEW WEEKS LATER THE ALARM WENT OFF AGAIN AT 3:30 AM, WAKING UP ALL OF MY NEIGHBORS IN THE PROCESS. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND NOW THEY SAY IT'S THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR. THERE ARE SO MANY REPORTS ON THE INTERNET OF OTHER MAZDA OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THERE IS A BULLETIN OUT THERE FOR IT. WHY HAS BEEN THIS NOT BECOME A RECALL YET?

THE PANIC ALARM HAS BEEN GOING OFF EVERY WEEK AT LEAST ONCE OR TWICE. THIS HAPPENS A LOT IN THE EVENINGS BETWEEN 8PM AND 11PM. IT'LL GO OFF BY ITSELF FOR NO REASON AT ALL. THIS HAPPENED ANOTHER TIME LAST YEAR, BUT ONLY ONCE. NOW, IT'S HAPPENING EVERY WEEK AND IT'S PRETTY ANNOYING. I'VE READ ON OTHER FORUMS WHERE PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH ON ROCHESTER RD IN TRAFFIC WHEN I HAD TO PULL TO THE RIGHT AND BRAKE FOR AND AMBULANCE HEADING MY WAY, I HEARD SOMETHING BREAK IN THE FRONT END AND UPON TRYING TO RESUME MY POSITION IN MY LANE MY CAR WOULD NOT STEER AND IN ORDER TO KEEP MY WHEELS STRAIGHT I HAD TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE CAR LEFT. I THOUGHT I HAD A TIRE GOING DOWN SO I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT MY TIRES AND FOUND NOTHING SO I GOT BACK IN MY CAR AND MADE A TURN BACK ON THE ROAD AND I KNEW RIGHT AWAY SOMETHING WAS TERRIBLY WRONG AS IT FELT LIKE I WAS ON A SHEET OF ICE. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS ROTTED OUT AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SWAY BAR LINK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER, MAZDA OF BEDFORD IN BEDFORD, OHIO, WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1-836240644. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

WHILE ELEVATED ON JACK STANDS WITH BOTH FRONT WHEELS HANGING, CROUCHED FACING THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE, THE TIRE CAN BE GRIPPED WITH THE LEFT HAND ON THE REAR FACING TREAD AND RIGHT HAND ON THE FRONT FACING TIRE TREAD, THEN MOVED IN AND OUT WITH LARGE AMOUNTS OF PLAY, WOBBLE, AND CLUNKING NOISES. THERE IS ALSO A LARGE AMOUNT OF NOISE AND CLUNKING COMING FROM THE AREA WHERE THE STREERING " LINKAGE" ( TERM?) CONNECTS TO THE HYDRAULIC RACK WHEN THE FRONT OF THE CAR IS ON JACKSTANDS AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED TO BOTH EXTREMITIES. THE HYDRAULIC STEERING RACK APPEARS TO FLEX LEFT AND RIGHT WHEN THE CAR IS ON THE GROUND IN THE NORMAL DRIVING POSITION AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED TO BOTH EXTREMITIES. THE LEFT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL BEARING IS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. WHILE ASSESSING THAT IS WHEN THE EXTREME RUSTING OF THE FRONT SUBFRAME WAS NOTICED, ALONG WITH A HUGE RUST HOLE ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE AS DESCRIBED BY OTHERS. VERY CLOSE TO THE ATTACHMENT OF THE LOWER A-ARM OF THE SAME SIDE. CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALERSHIP WITH 1500 MILES BY AN IN HOUSEHOLD FAMILY MEMBER AND HAS HAD ALL/NEARLY ALL OF ITS SCHEDULED DEALERSHIP MAINTENANCE AT THE PLACE OR PURCHASE UP UNTILL THE BEGINNING/MIDDLE 2017. AFTERWHICH I RECIEVED THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS ALL NOTICED ON OR APROX JULY 1ST 2018 AND THE CAR HASNT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE.

THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT USED. AFTER SUSPENSION INSPECTION I FOUND OUT THAT THE FRONT SUBFRAME IS EXTREMELY RUSTY AND IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT IS NECESSARY. ACCORDING TO THE BODY CONDITION THERE WERE NO ANY INCIDENTS WHICH MAY AFFECTED THE SUBFRAME CONDITION. FURTHER DRIVING WITH THIS IS DANGEROUS.

HORN HAS ACTIVATED RANDOMLY FOR YEARS NOW, THE FIRST INSTANCE OCCURRING ON OR ABOUT JULY, 2013. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES FOR THIS. EACH TIME THEY SAID THE DOOR LATCH WAS FAULTY AND SETTING IT OFF. I HAVE HAD 3 DOOR LATCHES REPLACED WITH THE MOST RECENT BEING DONE ON 5/2015. IN AUGUST 2016, THE HORN STARTED ACTIVATING RANDOMLY AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY FOUND "CODES" ON THE 3 DOOR LATCHES THAT WERE ALREADY REPLACED! CLEARLY THERE IS A DEFECT SOMEWHERE WITH THE DOOR LOCKS OR ITS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THIS POSES A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD AS A CHILD CAN OPEN THE DOOR LOCK AND FALL OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING IF THE LOCK IS NOT WORKING.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AUTOMATIC UNLOCK BUTTON MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WITHIN THE LAST YEAR, THE AUTOMATIC UNLOCK BUTTON INSIDE THE VEHICLE, SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING, AND IN FACT DID THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. WHEN THE UNLOCK BUTTON WAS PRESSED, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED, AND AT TIMES, WOULD NOT RELEASE THE LOCK, EVEN MANUALLY. IT WOULD TAKE MANY ATTEMPTS AT PERFECT TIMING TO SELECT THE UNLOCK BUTTON WHILE OPENING THE DOOR IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE AUTOMATIC LOCK BUTTON FUNCTIONED AS IT SHOULD, LOCKING ALL DOORS. IN OTHER WORDS, BOTH THE AUTOMATIC LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS ONLY LOCKED THE DOORS. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, UNTIL SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE DOOR TO RELEASE. THE DEALER IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS THE BODY CONTROL MODULE FOR THE LOCKS. HOWEVER, THEY COULD NOT OFFER A GUARANTEE THAT THE NEW BODY CONTROL MODULE WOULD NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, AS MAZDA ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM WITH THE PART.

* Drivers side (worst) and passenger side rear lower control arm. Both are available for inspection upon request. * The drivers side rear lower control arm rusted through and cracked near the point where it connects to the rear subframe. The right lower control arm did not yet visibly crack (it's still on the vehicle), but it is also severely rusted. If driven and either completely separated, loss of control as well as flying debris on the road would have been nearly certain. * I cannot drive the car to a dealer or service center. The problem is visibly obvious and online owners forums anecdotally indicate the problem is widespread. * The component is available for inspection. I have shown my mechanic and intend to take to a dealer. Because there was no accident or injury, thankfully, I have no cause for engaging police or insurance. * There was no warning/indicator in the vehicle. The first symptom of trouble was severe wear on the inside of the left rear tire. The vehicle then had a four-wheel alignment and suspension components were noted to be tight and adjusted into spec at that point. Some weeks later, we heard disturbing noises from the rear as we went over even small bumps in the road. We noticed the suspicious sound during a local drive and drove gently and directly home, so cannot say how much the partial break may have affected control at that point. Upon inspection, the rusted & cracked steel of the driver's side control arm was readily visible. Other notes: The rear subframe itself shows significant flaking and rust in comparison to the rest of the vehicle's undercarriage, but at least there appears to be more substance left to the metal of the subframe. My car had a air bag recal and a subframe and other misc recalls so I contacted the dealership near me which was In Springfield Mo and set a apt and had it replaced then got a call the next day saying they wuld meet me half way with a loaner car which was in Mansfield mo for the subframe replacement and they have had it for over a month and they called and told me it was ready for pick up 6/21/21 and I drove up there Wed to pick it up and it wuldnt start wuldnt do nothing dead battery. Dealership then hooked up a jump box the gauges started jumping all back and fourth like something was shorted or a short some were got it started and the min the jump box turned off the it killed all power the car shut completly off to nothing. So they gave me the loner vehical back and they drove me my car to west plains mo and they took the loner vehical and I got in my car and the air bag light is flashing very fast constly the steering is super tight and the brakes feel weird the passenger side is missing a piece in the dash only lights that was on my car when they picked it up was the tire sensor light and the check engine light got pics to prove and show everything.. I’m driving it back to dealership to see if they can fix or make it right and give me the loner vehical back till they get my car back to the condition it was in when they picked it up for a recall repair..

I BOUGHT A USED CAR FROM A SMALL DEALERSHIP, THEY SOLD ME THE CAR WITHOUT A DASH HARNESS, ALL THE WIRING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER IN MY CAR IS NOT THERE, SO I CAN'T DO SMOG CHECK. THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH OTHER MAZDA CARS THAT GOT RECALLED DUE TO A POSSIBLE FAULTY FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE THAT COULD ALLOW GASOLINE TO ENTER THE FUEL TANK EMISSION SYSTEM. IF ENOUGH FUEL GETS INTO THE SYSTEM, IT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL. HOWEVER, THIS RECALL DID NOT COVER MY 2009 MAZDA 6 AND I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR HAS FAILED! THE ALARM ON MY MAZDA GOES OFF AT RANDOM PERIODS OF TIME. SOMETIMES ITS ONCE A WEEK AND SOMETIMES IS 5 TIMES A DAY OR NIGHT. I HAVE REVIEWED SEVERAL INTERNET FORUMS AND IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE NOT CREATED A COMPLAINT ON THIS WEBSITE. THE REMEDIES THAT THEY HAVE FOUND TO HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE A DOOR ACTUATOR THAT IS FAULTY. THIS DOOR ACTUATOR LOCKS THE DOORS AND IF WHEN IT FAILS TO PROPERLY LOCK THE DOOR IT WILL INTERMITTENTLY SOUND THE ALARM. THE ALARM IS NOT SO MUCH THE CONCERN AS MUCH AS THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR. IT IF FAILS TO LOCK IT CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD FOR PEOPLE AS THEY ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE DOOR COULD ACCIDENTALLY BE OPENED. IN AUGUST 6TH, 2018, I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM WORK WITH MY 4Y OLD SON IN QUEBEC CITY AT 50 KM/H. I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND FOUND OUT THAT THE FRAME THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE IN PLACE WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT AND THAT MY ENGINE COULD FALL OUT AT ANY GIVEN TIME. MY WIFE COMPLAINED TO ME TODAY WHILE DRIVING THE MAZDA6 THERE WAS A GLARE COMING FROM THE DASH AREA RIGHT OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. SHE TOUCHED IT AND IT WAS A SHINY STICKY DETERIORATION OF THE DASH ITSELF. YOU CANNOT TOUCH OR RUB OUT AS IT STICKS AND LEAVES A BLACK, STICKY GLUE ON YOUR FINGERS. I RETURNED TO MY VEHICLE AFTER WORK AND THE VEHICLE WAS DEAD EXCEPT FOR THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY AND LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND THERE WAS NO ACCESSORY OR ON POWER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK AND PUSH BUTTON START HAD MALFUNCTIONED. I WAS QUOTED A REPAIR BILL OF $1,660, WHICH INCLUDES MORE THAN $1,000 IN PARTS (PARTS NUMBERS GS3M-66-15XD AND GSYD-67-5DZG ). THESE ARE BASIC SYSTEMS THAT FAILED AFTER ONLY 31,000 MILES OF USE ON A VEHICLE THAT WAS MAINTAINED VERY WELL. *TR

I BOUGHT MY MAZDA 6, YEAR 2009, BRAND NEW FROM A MAZDA DEALER IN VIRGINIA. SOME TIME AGO, WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AT APPROXIMATELY. 30 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON ONE OF THE MAIN ROADS, I THEN TURNED ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AS I NEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT THE VERY NEXT LIGHT. SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC. LUCKILY I WAS NOT HIT BY THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE GEAR IN PARK, START THE ENGINE AGAIN AND DRIVE THE CAR HOME. I THEN CALLED THE MAZDA DEALER (WHERE I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR) AND I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED. TO MY GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT, THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM I HAD ON THE ROAD, WHEN THE ENGINE DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR. A FEW MONTHS LATER A SIMILAR PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE MAZDA DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH IT AT THAT TIME EITHER. NOW MAZDA HAS A RECALL FOR MAZDA 6, 2010-2012 ONLY, BUT IT'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SPIDER'S WEBS AND POSSIBLE RISK OF CRACKS IN THE FUEL TANK, WITH A RISK OF A FIRE. I'M CONCERNED THE YEAR 2009 IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SINCE THE SAME PROBLEM APPEARED IN THE EARLIER RECALL. *TR

DRIVING THROUGH A TUNNEL MY CAR BEGAN TO FILL WITH SMOKE. I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED FOR WHERE THE SMOKE CAME FROM AND FOUND THE SWITCH TO MY HEATED SEATS WAS ON FIRE. MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER TURN ON. REPAIR MAN AT DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S SOMETHING THAT JUST HAPPENS I GUESS. SOMEWHERE SOMETHING SHORTED. I'M JUST GLAD MY CHILD WAS NOT IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. BEWARE!! THERE ARE CURRENT RECALLS FOR THE EXACT MAKE AND MODEL IN AUSTRALIA AND EUROPE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I'M STILL WAITING FOR THE US THE ISSUE A RECALL SO I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 MAZDA 6. WHILE BRAKING, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE FRONT TIRE WAS FLAT WITHIN 30 SECONDS. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VALVE STEMS WERE CORRODED AND CAUSED THE TIRE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE CONTACT'S FACTORY WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 13,000.

I TOOK MY 2009 MAZDA6 TOURING EDITION IN TO GET MY FIRST OIL CHANGE. THE CAR WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION WITH ONLY 3,600 MILES. WHEN I RETURNED LATER TO PICK UP THE CAR I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE DOOR LOCKS. I SAID OKAY SO WHAT NOW. THE JIM ELLIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID WE WILL GIVE YOU A LOANER. I TURNED IN THE CAR ON SATURDAY I PICKED THE CAR UP ON TUESDAY AND DROVE IT HOME. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE I TRIED TO LOCK THE DOOR BY PUSHING THE BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE. NOTHING HAPPENED SO I TRIED A FEW MORE TIMES. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DOOR WAS WITH THE KEY. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY ASKED IF I COULD BRING THE CAR BACK FOR THEM TO TAKE A LOOK. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND THEY STILL COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY AGAIN GAVE ME A LOANER CAR. THURSDAY EVENING I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS FIXED. THEY SAID AN ENGINEER HAD LOOKED AT THE CAR AND IT WAS FIXED FOR SURE. WELL GUESS WHAT IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE BATTERY MUST HAVE BEEN RUN DOWN BECAUSE THE DOORS WERE LEFT OPEN.
