COMPLETING TUNE UP ON VEHICLE WHEN OIL WAS FOUND IN SPARK PLUG TUBE WHICH COULD HAVE LED TO ENGINE FAILURE/FIRE. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS NOTIFIED AND FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. SHOULD BE SEALS/GASKETS BETWEEN VALVE COVER AND SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL, AND THEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT STALLED FOUR TIMES AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY AND A MECHANIC CONCLUDED THAT THE CAM-SHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED. HE NOTIFIED THE DEALER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL# 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). HE WAS ADVISED THAT SINCE HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL, HE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR A FREE REMEDY. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. WITHIN 6 MONTHS I'VE NOW SPENT $600 ($300 EACH INCLUDING LABOR) TO REPLACE BOTH HEADLIGHTS ON MY AUTO ALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE A $6 BULB. THERE IS A SEVERE DESIGN FLAW AND SHOWS LACK OF QUALITY PRODUCED BY NISSAN. APPARENTLY NISSAN IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ONCE THE PAPERWORK IS SIGNED AND THE DEAL IS DONE ON THE SALE OF THEIR AUTOS. I HAD THE DATADOT ANTI-THEFT DEVICE THAT NISSAN CAME OUT WITH INSTALLED TO PREVENT THE HEADLIGHTS ASSEMBLY THEFT PROBLEM. AND GUESS WHAT, THEY STILL STOLE THE RIGHT SIDE. THE GOOD THING IS THAT THE TRANSFORMER WAS BOLTED TO THE FRAME OF THE CAR AND WAS NOT STOLEN, THE BAD THINGS IS THEY CAUSED MORE DAMAGE TO THE FINDER/HOOD AND FRONT BUMPER NOT ONLY THAT, BUT A PORTION OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY STAYED IN THE CAR THE DAMAGE WAS $2400.00 FOR ONE HEAD LIGHT WITH BODY WORK. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DOING 75 MPH IN SAN FRANCISCO, I STEPPED ON THE GAS PRETTY HARD AND LET OFF A SECOND OR TWO LATER. RIGHT AFTER THAT THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I HAD TO GO ACROSS 3 LANES WITH NO ACCELERATION. VERY SCARY. PULLED OVER AND TRIED TO REV THE ENGINE TO NO AVAIL. I THEN TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT SEEMED TO ACT NORMAL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED FOR A AWHILE THEN WENT TO SOLID. ABOUT TWO HOURS LATER I WENT TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED IT THE VEHICLE OFF AGAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PATTERN WITH THIS CAR WHEN I PUSH ON THE PEDDLE TO ACCELERATE. SINCE JANUARY OF 2012 IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES. I BROUGHT IT TO A SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2002 NISSAN MAXIMAS. I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NOT IN THIS RECALL. MY CONCERN IS WHY IS IT NOT IN THIS RECALL WHEN IT IS CLEARLY DISPLAYING WHAT THE "OTHER" 2002 NISSAN MAXIMAS ARE DOING?? THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE FOR FREEWAYS AND OTHER FAST MOVING AREAS. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME AND LET ME KNOW WHAT CHANNELS I NEED TO GO THROUGH TO GET THIS LOOKED AT? ABS LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO TOWN. BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK OK, SO I CONTINUED. GOT TO TOWN (40 MILES), DID MY BUSINESS, GOT IN THE CAR TO GO HOME. STARTED CAR, ABS LIGHT STILL ON, DROVE 1 1/2 BLOCKS, APPLIED BRAKES AS I APPROACHED INTERSECTION, AND THE PEDAL LOCKED. TAPPED THE PEDAL, STILL LOCKED. CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS STILL GETTING THROTTLE. PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND LUCKILY STOPPED BEFORE THE INTERSECTION. PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, PUSHED THE BRAKE, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. PARKED THE CAR, AND TURNED IT OFF. THEN, I DECIDED TO MOVE IT TO ANOTHER LOCATION IN THE PARKING LOT AND LEAVE IT FOR A TOW TRUCK. UNABLE TO STOP VEHICLE - BRAKE FAILURE ON DRY PAVEMENT. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, THERE WAS ONLY A CLICKING SOUND AS IF THE ABS WAS TRYING TO ENGAGE FOR NO REASON - BUT BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. DEALER LATER REPORTED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO A FAULTY ABS SENSOR ON LEFT REAR BUT I AM DISTURBED THAT THIS ABS FAILURE WOULD CAUSE TOTAL BRAKE LOSS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR FOR FEAR OF ANOTHER ABS SENSOR GOING WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED NEW IN 2002. THE ROTORS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED 4 TIMES ON VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 55K MILES (MAINLY HIGHWAY MILES). DEALER ADMITTED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ROTORS WARPING ON THIS CAR FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. SUBSEQUENT TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKNIG WHICH NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH BETWEEN MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER. ONLY BY ACCELERATNG VERY HARD THROUGH A STOP SIGN, AT WHICH I WAS UNABLE TO STOP, WAS I ABLE TO AVOID AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO MY OWNERS MANUAL, WHENEVER THE ABS WARNIGN LIGHT ILLUMINATE, I WILL LOSE ONLY MY ABS BUT WILL RETAIN NORMAL BREAKING. THIS PROVED NOT TO BE THE CASE. I LOST THE ABLITY TO STOP. ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S DEALERSHIP REPAIR FACILITY, THE LOSS OF ABS WAS A RESULT OF A NON-FUNCTIONING REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED BY THIS REPAIR FACILITY. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE ABS HAD FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. DURING THE FIRST OCCURRENCE THE BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE RIGHT ABS SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE RIGHT SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN THROUGH THE CARWASH. THE BRAKES REQUIRED MORE PRESSURE TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE SENSOR LIGHT STAYED ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY BY ITSELF. IN OCTOBER 2005 THERE WAS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE ROTORS. WHEN THE PROBLEM RETURNED THE ABS LIGHT HAD COME ON AND WENT OFF TWO DAYS LATER. THE BRAKES WORKED WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON AND FAILED WHEN THE LIGHT WENT OFF. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE LEFT ABS SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS HAD NOT BEEN MADE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE FRIEND OF THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BUSHING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. IN SEPT. 2014, MY CAR WAS IN FOR SERVICE AND RECALL NUMBER "03V455000" WAS PERFORMED. THE 2 CAMSHAFT SENSORS AND 1 CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WERE TO ALL BE REPLACED. IN APRIL 2016, MY CAR WAS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH ALL 3 SENSORS. MY CAR WOULD STOP AT ANY MOMENT (STOPPED OR DRIVING). I'VE BEEN IN MANY INTERSECTIONS OR THE INTERSTATE AND IT'LL DIE ON ME AND TAKE A LONG TIME TO CRANK BACK UP. I HAD TO PAY OVER $120 AT THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE DIAGNOSIS. UPON LOOKING AT MY RECALL PAPERWORK, ONLY THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS REPLACED. WHEN BRINGING THAT INFO TO DEALER, THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A KIT THAT INCLUDED ALL 3 SENSORS. EVERY SINGLE INTERNET SEARCH, INCLUDING NISSAN'S OWN PUBLIC PARTS WEBSITE, SAYS THAT PART # 23731-AL60C IS A SINGLE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND COULD NOT PROVE THAT THEIR INTERNAL/PRIVATE PARTS SYSTEM CLAIMED IT WAS A KIT. I THEM REACHED OUT TO THE NISSAN RECALL NUMBER (1-800-647-7261) LISTED ON THE RECALL TO EXPLAIN THE ISSUE WITH ALL THE SENSORS NOT BEING REPLACED. AFTER A FEW CALLS, MY INFO WAS ROUTED TO A REGIONAL ASSOCIATE. I ASKED HER IF SHE NEEDED TO EXPLAIN THE STORY TO HER AND SHE SAID SHE DIDN'T. AFTER 5 DAYS, THE REGIONAL ASSOCIATE CALLED ME BACK AND EXPLAINED TO ME THAT SHE REACHED OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SAID THAT NISSAN IS AGREEING WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND CANNOT ASSIST ME ANY FURTHER. SHE COULD SEE THE WORK INFORMATION, BUT SEEMED SIMPLY SIDED WITH THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INFO OR QUESTIONING ME FOR A BETTER UNDERSTANDING.

I OWN A 2002 MAXIMA. RECENTLY WE HAD A COLD SNAP AND THE LINE FROM THE WINDSHIELD WASHER RO MY WIPERS FROZE UP. THE WASHER HAD THE CORRECT WASHER FLUID-RATED DOWN TO -25 DEGREES AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 11 DEGREES. MY DEALERSHIP REGULARLY MAINTAINS MY VEHICLES FLUIDS. I CALLED THE SULLIVAN BROS. NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN KINGSTON MASS. AND THEY SAID THEY HAD MANY REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM FROM OTHERR NISSAN OWNERS WITH MAXIMAS NEAR OR AT THE SAME AGE AS MINE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED RUNNING THE CAR FOR 20 MINUTES OR SO TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAD ALREADY WARMED UP THE CAR BEFORE DRIVING IT, BUT FOLLOWED THE DEALER'S DIRECTION. MY FEELING IS THAT IF THE LINE WERE CLOSER TO THE ENGINE OR OFF THE METAL OF THE FENDER ,OR EVEN INSULTED , IT COULD PREVENT THIS DANGEROS PROBLEM. ANY ARGUMENT THAT THESE WERE EXTEME CONDITIONS THAT WOULD EFFECT ANY CAR IS UNFOUNDED. NEIGBORS AND RELATIVES EASILY DROVE THEIR VEHICLES WITHOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WERE IN THE SAME WEATHER CONDITIONS. I HOPE THAT NISSAN HAS A RECALL ON THEIR MAXIMA'S WITH THE SAME DESIGN FLAW. SOMETIMES IT WOULD WORK FINE (ESPECIALLY IF THE VEHICLE WAS WARM) IF THE VEH HAS BEEN SETTING OVER NIGHT, AND YOU PUT IT INTO "DRIVE" IF WOULD SHIFT VERY HARD. IF I REVVED THE ENGINE UP BEFORE PUTTING IT INTO GEAR IT USUALLY DID NOT SHIFT HARD. UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE ONE EVENING TO DRIVE HOME FROM WORK, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO DRIVE FINE, HOWEVER WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. AS I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD THE VEH TOWED TO THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP, I WAS ADVISED THE THROTTLE CHAMBER WAS THE ISSUE AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS COST ME A TOTAL OF $4600.00 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, A $150.00 TOWING BILL AND THEN HAD TO RENT A RENTAL CAR UNTIL THIS WAS REPLACED. ON 6/30/04, TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE STRUT WAS BROKEN OR BOTTOMING OUT. DEALER ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS A STRUT, AND AFTER PUTTING TWO STRUT ASSEMBLIES ON THE CAR, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. SINCE THEN, THIS DEALER AND ANOTHER DEALER HAVE REPLACED LOWER CONTROL ARM, RACK AND PINION, CRADLE, AND NUMEROUS BOLTS TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR HAD A RECALL PERFORMED ON 08/02/2011 TO REPLACE CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS, THE CAR RAN PERFECTLY BEFORE THE SAID RECALL. THE MENTIONED RECALL ALSO INCLUDED AN EARLIER RECALL WHICH WAS INEFFECTIVE. SOME TIME AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED THE CAR WOULD STALL INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT TRIGGERING A CODE. FINALLY THE STALLING TRIGGERED A CODE ON 01/29/13 WHICH WAS A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CODE WAS TRIGGERED BUT DENIED THAT IT HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE STALLING PROBLEM AND RETURNED THE CAR WITH THE INTERMITTENT STALLING CONDITION WITHOUT A DIAGNOSES. EVENTUALLY THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND REPAIRED ON 11/08/2013 AFTER TWO MORE VISITS TO THE DEALER AND NUMEROUS CALLS TO NISSAN NORTH AMERICA. When I first purchased this car I had immediate problems with the power steering fluid. The check engine light has remained on the entire time. But the car was hemorrhaging fluid, groaning, whining, and my steering was becoming extremely loose. I call the dealer that sold me the car, because I dropped 4 grand on what seemed like a nice vehicle with under 100k on it. Well, I bought the car right off the lot and they refused to repair it. Cool, I respect that. IF the inspection reports and other papers are clearly falsified. It couldn't have passed inspection under normal situations. But since the dealer owns their own shop, they could slap stickers on busted vehicles and send them off to be sold. Eventually they do me " A favor" by replacing the power steering actuator/pump hoses & did work on towards a DTC code P0550. They give me that favor by charging me only for the parts, no labor. Totally cool, if work was done. It still has the same electrical tape in areas that was "fixed". They clear my codes and off I go. Engine light cuts on again and I'm having the same issues. My power steering fluid looks like it's boiling or bubbling as well. Still getting the P0550 code as my main DTC. Except now, I'm having major problems and my car has been sitting for a month. Not sure if the leaky fluid corroded components from before. As of now I'm throwing DTCs for P0171, P0305, P0550 (twice), believe I have a vacuum leak, my exhaust system is damaged internally from the misfire codes and has also broken apart near the rear muffler, among other pending codes. Lastly, I was coming home from work and my car completely loses power and bogs waaaay down. Engine light is flashing and I have no control or power. I limp home, park the car, and haven't drove it since other than for test drives. After countless repairs for the same issues, among new repairs and issues I'm broke. Issues started on 3/24 through 12/21 Not had this car for a year and it's been a constant pain ever since.

HAD A THROTTLE BODY CLEANING DONE ON MY CAR AND AS SOON AS I LEFT THE MECHANIC SHOP MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAVE SINCE HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND STILL MY CAR WILL NOT RELEARN (AND THAT WAS DONE AT A NISSAN DEALER), NOW THEY SAY I NEED A NEW COMPUTER. I HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CODES TO A "CAM POSITION SENSOR" PROBLEM. I WAS GOING TO HAVE MY REGULAR MECHANIC REPAIR IT, BUT THEN I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL ON THIS PART. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO A CERTIFIED NISSAN DEALER AND VERIFY IT WAS A "CAM POSITION SENSOR" CODE. THE DEALER VERIFIED IT WAS.THE DEALER SAID THEIR RECORDS SHOWED THAT PART HAD BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE, BUT NISSAN SAID THE REPAIR WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE REPAIR, THE DEALER CALLED ME LATER TO SAY HE COULDN'T REPAIR THE PART BECAUSE THE PROBLEM WAS THE CONNECTOR NOT THE SENSOR. THE COST JUST HAPPENED TO BE THE SAME PRICE AS THE CAM POSITION SENSOR. ($260.00) I FOUND THAT TO BE A VERY COINCIDENTAL. L TOLD THEM NOT TO REPLACE THE CONNECTOR AND I WOULD LIKE TO RESEARCH THE COST OF THE CONNECTOR TO MAKE SURE THEY WEREN'T PULLING THE WOOL OVER MY EYES. TO DATE THE REPAIR HASN'T BEEN MADE. I HAVE A 2002 NISSAN MAXIMA SE THAT I PURCHASED NEW FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE IS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN SERVICED BY NISSAN. LAST WEEK I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR END. I WAS STOPPED BEHIND A FORD MINIVAN IN TRAFFIC ON US 78 IN BREMEN, GEORGIA. WHILE STOPPED I WAS STRUCK IN THE REAR BY A FORD TAURUS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR. THAT ESTIMATE IS BASED ON STATEMENTS BY THE DRIVER WHO ALSO SAID HE NEVER SAW ME AND DID NOT APPLY THE BRAKES. THERE WERE NO SKIDS PRESENT WHICH SUBSTANTIATED HIS CLAIM. THE FRONT OF HIS VEHICLE COLLAPSED THE TRUNK OF MY VEHICLE AND SENT ME INTO THE MINIVAN IN FRONT OF ME. MY VEHICLE HAD SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT AND REAR(I HAVE PICTURES) AND IT WAS TOTALED. THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYED PROTECTING THE PASSENGER, HOWEVER, THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, THE SEATBELT DID NOT CATCH AND MY FACE STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING IMMEDIATE BRUISING AND SWELLING. I WAS TAKEN TO THE ER FOR X-RAYS WHICH WERE NEGATIVE THANKFULLY, HOWEVER, I'VE HAD SEVERE HEADACHES FOR THE LAST WEEK AND I WAS TOLD BY MY DOCTOR THAT I WILL HAVE TO UNDERGO A CT SCAN TOMORROW. MY COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE FAILURE OF BOTH THE AIRBAG AND THE SEATBELT LEADING TO MY INJURIES. THIS COMPLAINT DOES NOT INVOLVE A LAWSUIT OF ANY KIND AND I HAVE NO PLANS FOR ANY SUCH ACTION, HOWEVER, THERE ARE MANY OF THESE CARS ON THE ROAD AND SOMEONE COULD BE SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED SHOULD THEIR SAFETY SYSTEMS FAIL. MY NEW CAR WAS PERFORMING AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO AND MAINTENANCE WAS BEING COMPLETED ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE. MY VEHICLE STARTED TO CUT OFF DURING OPERATION IN 2004/5. IT WOULD HAPPEN IN THE DRIVEWAY, EXPRESSWAYS, ETC. IT DIDN'T MATTER. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY CLAIMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. NEXT MY HEADLIGHT BEGAN TO BLOW A BULB EVERY 2,0000-3,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED IT. THIS OCCURRED IN 2005. MID- JULY TO LATE NOVEMBER 2006 MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL IN COLD/WARM WEATHER. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. MY CAR STARTED TO CONSUME OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE IN APRIL 2007. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER YET AGAIN AND I WAS TOLD IT HAD INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE EXTERNAL COMPONENTS. I WAS QUOTED $4,000-$4,200 FOR A REPLACEMENT ENGINE. I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN MY REPAIR WORK AND OIL CHANGES AT NISSAN DEALERS AND NOW WHEN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS GONE I AM TOLD I NEED TO BUY AN ENGINE. THIS IS UNFAIR AND COSTLY. I CANNOT USE THE CAR FOR WORK COMMUTES OR TO GET TO SCHOOL. NISSAN HAS BEEN TOLD MANY TIMES ABOUT THEIR PRODUCT FAILURE AND THE MECHANICS BASICALLY ONLY CARE THAT YOU BUY/NOT BUY A MOTOR. I SHOULD NOT BE PAYING FOR THIS CAR WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A MECHANICAL DESIGN DEFECT THAT HAS CAUSED ME SO MUCH TIME, MONEY AND PAIN. I LEFT IT AT MY SISTER'S APARTMENT FOR 3 MONTHS BECAUSE IT WOULD START AND CUT OFF, IF AT ALL. I DROVE THE CAR THE OTHER DAY AFTER TRYING TO GET IT STARTED FOR 2 DAYS. IT DROVE LIKE A DREAM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN MAXIMA GLE. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND NOT RESTART. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED TWICE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC ON BOTH OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE SECOND TIME THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR. THE CONTACT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS NOTED IN RECALL # 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 54,550. THE CONSUMER STATED NISSAN DID NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER HE DETERMINED THE CAUSE WAS A FLUCTUATING VOLTAGE GIVEN OUT BY THE ALTERNATOR AND A WORN WIRE HARNESS WHICH COULD OF SHORTED THE SYSTEM. TODAY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS INOPERABLE AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY 800.00 TO REPLACE IT. THIS IS A DEVICE THAT IS APART OF THE ENGINE EXHAUST RECALL THAT WAS DONE IN '03. 2002 NISSAM MAXIMA - ENGINE POWER FAILED TWO TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AT 37,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 39,000 - NEVER FIXED UNTIL RECALL. THE ENGINE WAS RECALLED AND THE CAR FIXED AT 58,000 MILES. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN WEEK OF JANUARY 31, 2005 AGAIN NOW THE CAR HAS 87,000. BACAUSE NISSAN FOUND NO ISSUE (NO ERROR CODE ETC.) THE CAR WENT UNFIXED THIS WEEK. THE CAR IS BEHAVING JUST LIKE IT DID WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY TWICE BEFORE THE RECALL. I ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE SAME SENOR THEY DID FOR THE PRIOR RECALL AND THEY SAID NO BECAUSE THEY HAD NO ERROR CODE WHEN I HAD THE CAR SERVICED ON FEBRAURY 4, 2005. THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY PARTS ON THIS ALTIMA ARE DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. PRIOR TO REPLACEMENT THE LIGHTS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. BUT THE ACTUAL DEFECT CAUSED BY THE LIGHTS BEING TOO HOT AND THEN MELTING THE PLASTIC WAS NOT BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION UNTIL EXPENSES HAD BEEN INCURRED ON REPLACEMENT OF THE LIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES. WHENTHE LEFT SIDE WAS PROPERLY DIAGNOSED FINALLY, THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER DENIED REPLACEMENT AND REFUSED TO ATTEMPT ANY SOLUTION. DUE TO THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE LIGHTS AND THE LEFT HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY PART, I HAD TO WAIT TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE. THE PARTS COMPONENTS FOLKS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE.
