WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. AFTER RESEARCHING THE TROUBLE CODE, WE ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE PART. REPLACEMENT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND FOUND SAFETY RECALL ON THIS SAME ISSUE. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THEIR WAS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE IF IT DIES WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR

Additionally, while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was later towed to the residence. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 225,000.

WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IT JUST TURNED OFF. SAID IT WAS CRANK/ CAM POSITION SENSORS WELL CHANGED THEM AND PUT NEW THROTTLE BODY. AND NOW TO FIND THERE IS A RECALL HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT PART OF IT. WELL IT SHOULD BE. AND BE FIXED. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIX FOR 9 MONTHS. BEEN SITTING LONGER. THE VEHICLE HAS TWICE LOST POWER AND ENGINE DIED WHILE MOVING DOWN THE STREET. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND SHOWED CODE P0345: CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A (BANK 2). THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE R3022 CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT SENSOR RECALL. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 06/2002 AND THE RECALL DATES INCLUDE FROM 02/2001 TO 07/2002. THIS VEHICLE HAS 91,694 MILES ON IT AND THUS SHOULD NOT BE EXHIBITING THIS PROBLEM FROM NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH IN THE FUTURE.

TAKATA RECALL-RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL FROM NISSAN ABOUT A RECALL ON MY 2003 MAXIMA PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS (NHTSA RECALL 14V-361). SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR SEPT.26, 2014 @ 3PM TO HAVE WORK DONE. DROPPED VEHICLE OFF ON THE MORNING OF SEPT 26, 2014 BECAUSE I HAD TO LEAVE TOWN BEFORE THE TIME OF APPT. I PICKED MY VEHICLE UP LATER THAT DAY FROM THE DEALER. ON APRIL 15, 2016, I WAS AT WORK ON LUNCH BREAK IN OUR PARKING LOT AND I NOTICED A LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD ON. I TOOK MY MAXIMA TO THE DEALER TO HAVE LIGHT CHECKED TO FIND OUT IT WAS ABOUT MY AIRBAG. RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE OF WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE, TOTAL OF WORK NEEDED $1385 PLUS $90 I HAD TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS DONE. THE ESTIMATE WAS FOR THE EXACT SAME WORK THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN COMPLETED IN SEPT. 2014. I FINALLY HAD MY MECHANIC FIX THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS SUPPOSE HAD FIXED AND I HAVE NOT HAD AN ISSUE SINCE.

NISSAN KNEW SINCE AT LEAST SEPTEMBER 2002 THAT THIEVES WERE TARGETING THE XENON HEADLAMPS IN MAXIMAS, THEY FAILED TO INFORM CONSUMERS PURCHASING 2002 AND 2003 MAXIMAS, AS WELL AS EXISTING OWNERS AND LESSEES, OF THE RISK OF THEFT OF THE XENON HEADLAMPS, AND FAILED TO INFORM OWNERS AND LESSEES OF THE CARS OF THE AVAILABILITY OF THE ANTI-THEFT KIT., REPAIRS FOR THE 3 THEFTS HAVE COST OVER $7000 WITHIN AN 8 MONTH TIME FRAME. NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A FAULTY DESIGN THAT IS COSTING CONSUMERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS EACH DAY IN EITHER INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASES OR HEADLIGHT REPLACEMENT. THE COMPANY HAS REDESIGNED THE XENON HIGH INTENSITY HEADLIGHTS FOR THE 2004 MODEL. AND THEY NOW OFFER A MODEL WITH HALOGEN INSTEAD OF XENON. I PROPOSE AN INVESTIGATION AS TO WHY NISSAN CORP HAS NOT RECALLED THESE CARS AND REPLACED THE XENON LIGHTS WITH A MORE REASONABLE LIGHTING SYSTEM AT THEIR EXPENSE. *AK

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, ALL OF THE DOORS IMMEDIATELY LOCKED WITHOUT BEING PROMPTED BY THE KEY FOBIK. THE CONTACT HAD TO GET THE POLICE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FOBIK BECAME INOPERATIVE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 168,000.

I RECENTLY HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I HAD BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR ENGINE WOULD GET A LITTLE HOT, IT WOULD ALSO CUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT NOTICE, I HAD A COUPLE DIAGNOSIS DONE AND ALL POINTED TO MY CAMSHAFT SENSOR, IN WAS IN THE NATIONAL DATA BASE AS A RECALL, BUT BASE IN NORTH AMERICAN NISSAN MY VIN# IS ELIGIBLE FOR THAT CAMPAIGN THUS WILL NOT HELP FIX AN ISSUE I'VE ALREADY HAD TO REPAIR MORE THAN ONCE. THEY'VE TOLD ME BECAUSE I HAVEN'T HAD MY CAR SERVICE BY THEM THE WHOLE TIME I'VE OWNED MY VEHICLE THEY WOULD NOT HELP. I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA GLE, WITH APPROXIMATELY 148,000 MILES ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION "SLIPS:" FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD WHEN DOWNSHIFTING AFTER BEING IN A HIGHER GEAR, CAUSING THE CAR TO "HESITATE", OR SHUT OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING, STOPPED AT A LIGHT, STOP SIGN, ETC. NUMEROUS OTHER MAXIMA OWNERS WHO HAVE HIGH MILEAGE HAVE COMPLAINED OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS, BUT NISSAN HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM.

THE PAINT ON THE VEHICLE IS OF EXTREMELY POOR QUALITY. IT CHIPS EXTREMELY EASILY, MUCH MORE SO THAN ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. THE HOOD AND OTHER PARTS OF THE VEHICLE ARE LOADED WITH PAINT CHIPS. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND SCORES OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. PURCHASED NISSAN MAXIMA ON DECEMBER 11, 2002. NOTICED, IN EARLY MAY, THE PAINT HAD CHIP MARKS ALL THE WAY TO THE METAL OF THE CAR (ON BACK PANELS CLOSE TO BOTH PASSENGER DOOR'S. PAINT IS STARTING TO CHIP ALONG THE FRONT EDGE OF BOTH PASSENGER DOORS.) I LIVE IN WI & BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW ON DECEMBER 11, 2003. SO THAT MEANS THERE IS SNOW ON THE GROUND UNTIL, AT LEAST EARLY, APRIL. SO OUT OF THE FIVE MONTHS THAT I HAVE BEEN MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS EXPENSIVE VEHICLE...THREE OF THEM HAVE BEEN DURING THE WINTER WHEN THERE AREN'T A LOT OF STONES, PEBBLES, ROCKS, ETC. NISSAN MURANO, 2003 WITH APPROXIMATELY 75,400 MILES. AUGUST 9, 2008, MY DAUGHTER AND WIFE WERE DRIVING THE CAR AND CALLED ME ON MY CELL PHONE VERY EXCITED AND UNSET STATING, ?THE CAR WON?T ACCELERATE AND IT IS JERKING,, WHAT SHOULD WE DO?? I INSTRUCTED THEM TO PARK THE CAR UNTIL I ARRIVE TO CHECK IT OUT I DIDN?T WANT THEM TO GET ONTO THE MAJOR HIGHWAY IN THE HEAVY TRAFFIC. I ARRIVED AND DROVE THE CAR HOME. I PARKED THE CAR IN OUR GARAGE AND DIDN?T DRIVE IT UNTIL MONDAY FOR WORK. HAD NO PROBLEMS THAT DAY AND DROVE IT TO WORK, BOTH WIFE AND I COMMUTE TO THE SAME LOCATION. AFTER WORK ON THIS VERY HEAVILY TRAVELED INTERSTATE ON OUR WAY HOME I EXPERIENCED THE CAR HESITATING AND THE RPM GAGE RIVED UP OVER 4000 RPMS AND THE CAR STARTED TO LURCH AND HESITATE AND HAD NO RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR. VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE MOMENTUM SO I EXITED AT THE NEAREST EXIT. I NURSED THE CAR TO A PARKING LOT OFF THE MAIN INTERSTATE AND STOP. I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE I JUST HAD THE CAR SERVICED THE WEEK BEFORE AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING. I INFORMED THE SERVICE REP THE CAR WOULD BE DELIVERED BY A WRECKER SERVICE TO HAVE THE CAR DROPPED OFF; READ CODES AND WOULD GET BACK LATER THE NEXT DAY. I CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND WAS INFORMED THE CODES WERE MANY AND THEY WERE WAITING FOR THE NISSAN HEADQUARTERS TO GIVE THEM SOME INSTRUCTION. WAS INFORMED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, COST $5400. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF IT. I BLOGGED THE INTERNET, NISSAN MURANO FORUM AND TO MY AMAZEMENT UNCOVERED MANY INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING THE VERY PROBLEM WITH MY CAR, TRANSMISSION. I STRONGLY FEEL NISSAN SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM AND INDIVIDUALS SHOULD HAVE THEIR MONIES REFUNDED AND NISSAN SHOULD BE FINED HEAVILY FOR THEIR NEGLECT AND NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. *TR

NORMAL MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON VEHICLE - OIL CHANGE, TIRE REPLACEMENT - CAR WAS ON A LIFT. MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THAT I "THINK" ABOUT GETTING RID OF THE CAR AS THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE IS VERY VERY RUSTED AND WHILE NOT "UNSAFE" YET, IS BECOMING UNSAFE. I UNDERSTAND FROM CONSUMERS REPORTS THAT THE 2004 NISSAN MAXIMA HAS A RECALL FOR FRAME RUST AND STABILITY AND REPAIRS ARE COVERED BY MANUFACTURER BUT NOT THE 2003. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AS OF YET TO SEE IF THIS WOULD FALL UNDER THEIR RECALL. Please fix your auto fill --- it just erased everything! Anyway, the engine cuts out while driving in traffic. The engine cuts out while waiting at a red light. The engine cuts out while turning. It's ALL random! The engine code shows P0340, Bank 1 and Bank2, and sometimes P0345. I have replaced the camshaft position sensors FIVE times!!!!! I have tried both Auto Zone and Hitachi, and neither of them solves the problem. I also paid to have the crankshaft sensor below replaced, and that didn't help. I am told that this problem has been posted online and it was recommended to only use OEM parts. This is very dangerous to lose power while in traffic, and then having to wait until the engine will restart, which eventually it does. This is an ongoing problem. PLEASE help!!!

AS VERIFIED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR SHUT THE CAR DOWN DURING OPERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL IN 2003 (NOTICE OF WHICH WAS NEVER GIVEN TO ME) AND I FOUND TWO INDEPENDENT INTERNET REFERENCES TO A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM (RECALL #33403), ONE OF WHICH CONTAINED A RANGE OF AFFECTED VIN'S THAT INCLUDED MY CAR. I SENT THE INFORMATION TO NISSAN WITH THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION BUT WAS SUMMARILY REJECTED ON THE BASIS THAT MY VIN SIMPLY DID NOT APPEAR ON THEIR COMPUTER. I ASKED IF IT WAS BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS IN 2003, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE A REPLY. NISSAN REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART(S); CONSEQUENTLY, I HAD THE WORK PERFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. ON FEBRUARY 14TH OF THIS YEAR, DURING A REGULAR TIRE INFLATION INSPECTION, I NOTED THREE BULGES ON THE OUTSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE LEFT FRONT NITTO 450, 225X50X17 TIRE. I IMMEDIATELY KNEW THAT I WAS HAVING A TIRE FAILURE AND THAT IT MUST BE REPLACED ASAP. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO DISCOUNT TIRE WHERE THE TIRE HAD BEEN PURCHASED AND THEY REPLACED BOTH FRONT TIRES FOR SOMETHING OVER $300. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE HAS MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED APRIL 6, 2004. I AM RETIRED AND MOST OF THE MILES WERE ACCUMULATED WHILE ON VACATION. THE TIRE HAD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD SUBSTANTIAL TREAD REMAINING. THE TIRE WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND I CONSIDER ITS FAILURE PREMATURE. SUBSEQUENTLY, I E-MAILED NITTO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WROTE THE NORTH AMERICAN PRESIDENT OF TOYO, THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. THE SUN-ROOF ON MY 2003 MAXIMA SE WOULD OPEN RANDOMLY; ONCE WHEN I WAS DOING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS CRANKING THE CAR, I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AND BATTERY TERMINALS. THIS APPEARED TO QUICK FIX IT BUT SOON AFTER THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SOON AFTER FOLLOWED TCS CONTROL AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THE DIAGNOSIS INVOLVED A PROBLEM WITH THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS. I PURCHASED A BOOK ABOUT THE CAR AND READ THAT MY MAKE AND MODEL HAD A RECALL. AFTER DOUBLE CHECKING ONLINE ABOUT THE RECALL I NOTICED IT APPEARED TO BE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CONVINCED, I WENT TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK HOWEVER IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT RECALLED. THE HEADLIGHTS TO A 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA HAVE BEEN STOLEN ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ON BOTH OCCSSIONS THE THIEFS BENT THE INTERNAL METAL FRAME THAT MOUNTS THE BUMPER TO THE CAR TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO THE HEADLIGHT FROM BELOW. THIS FRAME IS A SHEET METAL STAMPING THAT CAN EASILY BE BENT BY APPLYING A SMALL AMOUNT OF A PERSONS BODY WEIGHT TO THE STRUCTURE. THE SHEET METAL CONSTRUCTION OF THE FENDER AND HOOD ALSO ALLOW A THIEF TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE HEADLIGHT BY FORCIBLY BENDING BACK THESE STRUCTURES. THE PLASTIC BRACKET THAT HOUSES THE HEADLIGHT AND MOUNTS IT TO THE FRAME OF THE CAR IS SHATTERED BY PRYING IT FROM THE FRAME WITH A TOOL. THIS PLASTIC STRUCTURE IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY STRONG ENOUGH TO DETER A THIEF FROM STEALING THE HEADLIGHT. THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL SHEET METAL STRUCTURE THAT MOUNTS THE PLASTIC HEADLIGHT HOUSING TO THE FRAME OF THE CAR. THIS STRUCTURE HAS AN ELECTRICAL BOX ATTACHED TO IT. IN BOTH CASES OF THEFT THIS STRUCTURE WAS FORCIBLY BENT BACK TO ACCESS THE REAR OF THE HEADLIGHT FOR REMOVAL. THIS STRUCTURE TOO IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO PREVENT A THIEF FROM FORCIBLY GAINING ACCESS TO THE HEADLIGHT. IT IS WORTH MENTIONING THAT THE ABOVE MENTIONED STRUCTURES WERE COMPROMISED SO EASILY, THIS VEHICLE'S ARMED, PROPERLY FUNCTIONING, FACTORY EQUIPPED ALARM SYSTEM WAS NOT SET OFF DURING THE THEFT. AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO POUGHKEEPSIE NISSAN FOR THEM TO INSTALL THE 'ANTI-THEFT DEVICE'. I DON'T KNOW IF OR WHAT WAS DONE BUT OBVIOUSLY IT DID NOT DETER THE THIEF(S). THIS IS REFERENCE TO TWO SITUATION CONCERNING NISSAN RECALLS. IN 2014 I TOOK MY CAR TO SANSONE NISSAN DEALER ON RT 1, NJ TO TAKE CARE OF THE AIRBAG RECALL ISSUE NHTSA REF#15V287000. THE CAR STARTED WORKING A LITTLE BETTER BUT MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON WARNING LIGHT IS STILL ON. I DID A LITTLE INVESTIGATION AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING RECALL #03V455000. I READ IT AND FOUND THAT THE CONSEQUENCE ON THE RECALL IS THE EXACT SAME THING THAT HAPPEN TO ME. AGAIN SANSONE DEALER ON RT. 1 IN NJ IS CLAIMING THAT THEY TOOK CARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT THIS WAS A RECALL BY NISSAN. MY 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA GLE HAS HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE ABS AND THE TSC LIGHTS COMING ON. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER WHO RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT AND SAID IT WAS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH I HAD ALREADY REPLACED DUE TO AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING, OR THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PACKAGE. AS I AM FAIRLY MECHANICAL (FATHER WAS A MASTER MECHANIC) THIS DID NOT SEEM LOGICAL TO ME. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS NOW QUIT WORKING COMPLETELY AND THE TACHOMETER IS NOW HAVING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE CAMSHAFT SENSORS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE MORE ELECTRICAL THAN MECHANICAL--INSTRUMENTS ONLY RECORD WHAT SENSORS SEND TO THEM. IT HAS NOW STARTED DYING IN TRAFFIC WHICH SCARES ME AS I AM AFRAID I WILL HAVE AN ACCIDENT. THE DYING IN TRAFFIC PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF DRIVING (AGAIN), THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED AGAIN. I HAD TO STOP DRIVING. JUST THE PREVIOUS DAY, THE CHECK-ENGINE-LIGHT CAME ON, INDICATING ERROR CODES P0340 AND P0345. UPON CHECKING THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 03V455000 MAY BE RELEVANT (IT COVERS 2003 MAXIMA). THE SYMPTOMS MY CAR EXHIBITED ARE THE SAME AS THOSE DESCRIBED. HOWEVER, WHEN I CALLED NISSAN, I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT COVERED BY RECALL. IT SEEMS VERY, VERY COINCIDENTAL THAT I WOULD EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL, BUT AM NOT SUBJECT TO RECALL. AIRBAG BURN/ INJURY ' MY CAR HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED AGAINST CENTER DIVIDER ON FREEWAY DURING RAINY WEATHER. THE DRIVER-SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED UPON CRASH AND CAUSED A BRUISE AND 2ND DEGREE BURN TO MY LEFT ARM (INNER FOREARM). THE BRUISE INJURY WAS FROM THE IMPACT OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. ADDITIONALLY, THE NISSAN LOGO (DECAL) ON THE STEERING WHEEL IMPACTED MY ARM AND CAUSED A 2ND DEGREE BURN - THIS BURN HAS NOW LEFT A PERMANENT SCAR IN THE SHAPE OF THE NISSAN LOGO ON MY LEFT ARM. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS; DURING WARRANTY PERIOD AND I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE THE DRIVER' S AND FRONT PASSENGER'S SEATS QUIT WORKING AND REQUIRED ELECTRICAL REPAIRS. THE POWER SUN ROOF ALSO QUIT WORKING AND REQUIRED ELECTRICAL REPAIRS DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. MY CAR WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY, AND POWER WINDOWS HAVE NOW QUIT WORKING. I HAD SO MANY DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR THAT I COULD NOT HELP BUT TO THINK THEY WEREALL CONNECTED TO THE SAME COMMON PROBLEM, AND IT MADE ME WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. ALSO, DURING THE 2ND YEAR OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THE BATTERY WENT COMPLETELY DEAD FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, HOWEVER, THEY TOWED MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP , EARLY IN THE MORNING, AND YET HAD TO KEEP THE CAR OVER NIGHT. I DIDN'T KNOW IF REPAIRS TO WIRING WERE PERFORMED OR NOT, BUT THEY DIDN'T ADMIT TO ANY UNDERLYING ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, YET THEY COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHY THE BATTERY BECAME DEAD, OR WHY IT REQUIRED MORE THAN 24 HOURS TO REPLACE A DEAD BATTERY. DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA. NHTSA RECALL 03V455000 WAS ISSUED. AND THE CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO NISSAN FOR RECALL REPAIRS. HOWEVER, NISSAN REFUSED TO DO THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE RECALL WENT OUT IN DECEMBER 2003, BUT THE CONSUMER PURCHASED VEHICLE IN JANUARY 2003. SHE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE RECALL WORK MUST HAVE BEEN DONE. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE THAT IT WAS DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY IN THE REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE REAR BRAKES FAILED, AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED S TO REPAIR THE BRAKES. THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE, SUCH AS THE STEREO, SUSPENSION, AND OTHER THINGS THAT THEY WILL NOT REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *AK

DT: THE CONSUMER STATED ON 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA THE REAR BRAKES WENT OUT AT 27,000 MILES. AFTER THEY WERE FIXED IN JUNE THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THEM. THE VEHICLE DIED ON JULY 11, 2005, WHILE IN TRAFFIC. SHE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND AFTER 5 TRIES THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WENT ALL THE WAY TO HOT, AND THE SET LIGHT CAME ON. THE DEALER STATED THAT 7 SERVICE CODES CAME UP AND THEY STATED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ABOUT 10 MILES BEFORE THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE SURGED, BUT NO LIGHTS CAME ON. IT WAS A REALLY HOT DAY, SHE WAS GOING ABOUT 60 MPH. MY 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA GXE CONTINUES TO WARP ROTORS. I HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS ON MY VEHICLE 3 TIMES WHILE THE CAR STILL HAS UNDER 45,000 MILES. THIS IS DISAPPOINTING AS I FEEL NISSAN HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THEIR MISTAKES IN PURCHASING THIN ROTORS. I CAN PROVIDE PAPER WORK ON THE REPLACED ROTORS. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN A 25,000 CAR THAT I PURCHASED. I REQUEST NHTSA SUBMIT A RECALL FOR NISSAN TO FIX THESE ROTORS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER NISSAN OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES. HORRIBLE NOISES COMING FROM THE BRAKES. I WENT BY THE A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT SINCE THE CAR HAD ONLY 25500 MILES ON IT. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR BOTH FRONT AND REAR. I FEEL THAT THIS 2003 NISSAN MAXIMA SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD SUCH A PROBLEM WITH SO LITTLE MILES ON THEM, AND FROM MY TALKS WITH OTHERS. I HEARD THAT THEIR HAVE BEEN A LOT OF BRAKE REPAIRS GOING ON AT THIS NISSAN DEALER. I JUST FEEL THAT THE TOP OF THE LINE CAR AT NISSAN SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. I WAS GIVING THEM ANOTHER CHANCE SINCE MY OTHER 2000 MAXIMA HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM BUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THOSE ROTORS AND BRAKES. IN BETWEEN MY 12000 MILE OIL CHANGE, AND 15135 MILES, A CLUNKING AND LOOSENESS IN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME APPARENT AS I DROVE OVER IRREGULAR OR BUMPY SURFACES. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER AND TOOK THE CAR IN ON 5/26/2004. THE DEALER FOUND THAT BOTH FRONT STABILIZER LINKS HAD FAILED INTERNALLY. THE LINKS BALL JOINT DID NOT BREAK, BUT WERE SEVERELY WORN. BOTH LINKS WERE REPLACED. SINCE THE DEALER HAD LINKS IN STOCK, I WILL ASSUME THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST FAILURE OF THIS TYPE. THE LIGHTS ARE EASILY PRIED OFF THE CAR WITH A CROWBAR. CRIMINALS CAN STEAL THEM IN LESS THAN 30 SECONDS. ANTI-THEFT KIT MADE AVAILABLE IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. ACCESS TO ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS GAINED WITH A SCREWDRIVER OR CROWBAR. RISK OF DRIVER INJURY IS INCREASED BECAUSE OF THIS. *JB
