We started noticing the speed gauge losing speed while driving at around the first of May through June gradually getting worse. When in the last week in June, if you tried to go 70 MPH, on the highway, the vehicle would lose power, everything would shut down. Yes it could be harmful on the highway to the passengers and other cars passengers, if it just stalled in the middle of the highway. We have taken the car to a local transmission shop last week. It is at the transmission shop. It was determined that the CVT transmission would have to be replaced. The shop is repairing it now. I thought it was a wonderful car, that would last longer than 3 years. Therefore, I am extremely worried about the cost to fix it. I still owe around $7,200 on it.. I turned [XXX] this year and [XXX]. I would not have bought it if I knew this would happen. Nissan knew about the problem before I bought it. Then I read about them fixing the problem as of July 3. I did report this to Nissan about us having something going wrong with the car. I have not received any word back from Nissan. On [XXX] approximately around [XXX] My Nissan Maximum was on fire while I was at work. I begin working at 8:30 am and the vehicle was parked two hours later my coworker ran telling me my car was on fire. The police and fire rescue was called to the scene. The police inspected my vehicle and I have the police report. On 12/13/24 at 1:32pm I spoke with Vaibhav the consumer Affairs Representative from Nissan Manufacturer and he confirmed the vehicle has two recalls on the ABS braking system. The black plastic piece on the rear right side of my rear windshield fell off in the first 30 days of having it took to deal they tried to make me pay 1000 dollars to fix a 100 dollar part. And it's been a year now and they still refuse to fix it

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly. The vehicle was shifted into neutral, and the RPMs revved up. The vehicle failed to move forward and shut off unintendedly. Several hours later, the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was shaking abnormally while driving, with an unknown warning light illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle was shaking abnormally while the brake pedal was depressed. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to Auto Zone, where it was determined that the failure was a CVT failure. The contact called the local dealer, and a diagnostic test was advised. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I had been trying to get the transmission changed on several occasions but was unsuccessful and was told to wait until 100,000 miles. So, I complied to suggestion. On 7/3/25 for a scheduled oil and transmission service, it was told that the transmission was throwing a P17F1 code and it would be best no to do anything with the transmission. So, at this point with no knowledge of what the code meant I refused the fluid change until I could get the understanding of what was happening. Researched code finding that this is a common problem that affect this make and model for this brand of vehicle. It's the means of transportation I have. How should I proceed?

My 2016 nissan maxima has 59000 miles and im having problems with the cvt transmission juddering when pressing gas slowly hesitating to change gears ive seen articles about nissan vehicles having the same issue i guess a death needs to happen so it can be on recall what ashame

Vehicle intermittently jerks upon acceleration and has become excessive. RPMs drop and surge which cause a lack in power. Vehicle was taken to my personal mechanic who diagnosed it as a software issue with the CVT transmission and I was told I needed to take it directly to a Nissan Dealer. My mechanic informed me that Nissans have had several issues with the transmission. After further research I found an abundance of complaints from other consumers under lemon law that they experienced the same issue and some experienced stalling related to the CVT transmission.The dealer also informed me that the nissan does have known transmission issues but it is not currently considered a recall. I am requesting that this matter be looked into as a recall. My concern is that if the vehicle stalls on me in the middle of traffic that my safety and my family’s safety could be endangered.

The vehicle does not accelerate and it jerks, whines and cuts off. the repair shop mechanic said he would not touch it without new transmission. the engine light is on, sometimes it blinks but not 100% of the time. It also won't get any power and cuts off on incline.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima (VIN: [XXX] ) I purchased in January 2025 has been confirmed by a certified mechanic to have no driver airbag installed and no passenger side curtain airbag installed, despite a previous airbag deployment shown on the vehicle history report. There is no record of any airbag replacement or repair. The vehicle was sold to me in this unsafe condition without disclosure. Driving the vehicle presents a serious safety risk because no airbags will deploy in a collision. Nissan and the selling dealer did not repair or disclose this federally required safety equipment failure (49 U.S.C. §30122). Safety Risk: This defect puts me at severe risk of injury or death in a crash. The airbag system is nonfunctional, and the vehicle is being operated on public roads without any airbags installed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the front seat passenger’s Occupant Classification System sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V244000 (Air Bags). The failure mileage was 84,741.

I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF BRAKE PRESSURE WHEN STARTING MY CAR AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR ONLY FROM A LOW SPEED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSEST DEALER, MARTIN NISSAN IN SKOKIE IL. THE DEALER REPORTED A FLUID LEAK AND THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER BUT STILL OBSERVED THAT THERE WAS STILL A LOSS OF BRAKE PRESSURE. THE DEALER THEN REPLACED THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR WHICH RESOLVED THE BRAKE PRESSURE ISSUE. THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE BEFORE ON THIS VEHICLE, ONCE UNDER NHTSA SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 16V193000 AND ONCE UNDER NHTSA SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 16V636000.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2016 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic pending repairs after the contact was involved in a crash, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The independent mechanic requested a Carfax report and found the discrepancy, and that the vehicle had been involved in a crash in the past. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was approximately 78,000 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was approximately 118,000.

I see multiple issues online about people replacing alternators on multiple Nissan vehicles and I can only imagine the frustration that Nissan has not been ordered to address their IPDM issue. Dealers and repair shops continue to struggle with this diagnosis.

While driving on the highway the car will lose power and acceleration, unable to accelerate. Power steering will begin to slowly lock up. After trying to safely pull over, ABS, battery and traction control light comes on. Then when I turned off the car, the car will not turn back on. Had to get the car towed to dealership. Car is now there, technician determined to be alternator issue. I read other similar situations on forum website with people dealing with same issue with same year, make and model.

The contact depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle failed to respond. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to exit the highway and managed to drive the vehicle to the local dealer. The local dealer diagnosed that the alternator had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure reoccurred and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an unknown second dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the alternator had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the second dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with the alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

Since I got the car in 2018 the car does a jutter I went to a mechanic and they hooked it up to the computer and did a diagnostic and that's what it's called a judder the car keeps stuttering when it hits past 23 mph. As the years went on it has gotten worse and worse and Nissan will not cover it even though they're at fault for it I don't know what to do because certain mechanics are charging $3,500 and more

For the past 5 months the acceleration will not work intermittently. I have almost gotten into two accidents on the interstate and in the city. I’ve taken the vehicle to the dealership twice and Firestone auto care twice they cannot replicate the issue it is a hazard to drive with the car behaving this way.

UPON PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I WILL PUSH THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. I HAVE TO HIT THE PEDAL 2-4 TIMES TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURS AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT OR INTERSECTION. THE SAME HAS JUST HAPPENED WITH MY WIFE'S 2018 NISSAN ROGUE. SHE WAS AT AN INTERSECTION. MY CAR THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF FOR 2 MONTHS. MY WIFE'S CAR, HER FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED TODAY. MINE HAPPENED 2X TODAY. My vehicle has experienced recurring failures where it will suddenly stop accelerating while driving, placing me in a dangerous situation. The engine remains on, but the car will only coast forward or backward with no throttle response. This has happened multiple times, and I have had to pull over for safety. Restarting the car occasionally works temporarily, but the issue returns within minutes. I understand that Nissan has previously extended warranty coverage for CVT issues in similar models

I recently purchased this vehicle from HHGreg in Tampa, Fl in May 2023. We found out it was associated with a recall regarding the brakes within 60days of having the vehicle, which Brandon Nissan took care of. My car only has 40,000 miles on it now. We bought it with only having 36,000 miles on it. Therefore, we've only driven it 4k miles. However, for the last 3 months, this car will literally shut off while driving, mainly when taking a turn. Which, as you can imagine is extremely unsafe, especially in the middle of a main intersection, which has now happened to me three times. We have had 3 mechanics look at the car, including someone from Brandon Nissan, and no one is able to figure out why the car keeps losing power. When you run a diagnostic on it, all the codes come back as passing. After sitting for a day or so, it will start back up, maybe run 24-72hrs, then it will completely power down again. The car has a brand new battery in it. The alternator is giving out the correct voltage. But something in the charging system and or electrical system is not working. There has to be a shortage or a defect in this models engine. A vehicle with this low of mileage is basically brand new and should NOT have these issues! I am paying for a car I can't even use or rely on. Very frustrated. This will be the last time I ever purchase a Nissan Vehicle.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned etc. -The Nissan CVT transmission that is used in all Nissan models and has a known history of premature failure. My 2016 Maxima has 48,000 miles and a completely failed transmission. Yes it is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -My two kids were in the car with all three times the accelerator stopped working while in motion due to the CVT transmission. All happened in Chicago city traffic. Luckily I was able to coast into a safe position each time but I was lucky not to get stuck in the middle of intersection. -Incident order was the same each time. Accelerator would stop working while in the drive gear. After a minute in park the car would seemingly work again, only for the accelerator to fail again shortly thereafter. Then eventually the electrical system shorted due to the transmission and the car was completely locked up, to the point of not being able to shift into neutral or move the steering wheel. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -The problem has been confirmed via Nissan's settlement of lawsuits relate to the CVT transmission, yet they continue to put them in all new models. My car was inspected by an independent transmission shop and they confirmed the engine computer is producing the "kill code" meaning the transmission is failing. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -I took it to a Nissan dealership for service (Berman Nissan in Chicago) and described exactly the same problems I later found via research about the CVT transmissions. Their service techs said I needed to replace the alternator, which made zero sense so I declined. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -No warning lamps, only infrequent acceleration problems in the months prior

Four times while I was driving the accelerator was unresponsive. Then the car completely died while driving. The problem is definitely a safety issue due to engine and accelerator stopping while driving. We took it to a good year dealer who originally thought it was battery and replaced it. But that did not solve the problem. Then a Nissan dealer received a code that it’s the cvt transmission.Nissan has had this issue with many of their cars and had a class action suit brought against them. I spoke with Nissan Corp about extending warranty and repairing the cvt transmission which is an expensive repair. They refuse. The car is extremely unsafe to drive since it may not accelerate and then completely die at any time.

TUESDAY, DEC. 22 MY 2016 NISSAN MAXIMA JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IN HAYWARD, CA NEAR INDUSTRIAL RD. CALLED TRIPLE AAA WHO JUMPED THE BATTERY AND A SHORT DISTANCE LATER ON HWY 880 THE CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN, I WAS TOWED OFF THE FREEWAY BY CALTRANS. ON JANUARY 4, IT SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE ON A CITY STREETS. A CO-WORKERS HUSBAND REPLACED THE BATTERY AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE IT HOME. JAN. 30 A MECHANIC LOOKED AT RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I DROVE IT WITHOUT ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES FROM EL CERRITO TO SAN RAFAEL THE WEEK. ON FEB. 5 WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREETS IN OAKLAND, THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. WHILE WAITING FOR AAA IT STARTED AGAIN BY THE TIME AAA ARRIVED IT HAD STOPPED AGAIN. LUCKILY THIS HASN'T CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. AND WHILE I SEE THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE REPORTED HERE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY WANTS TO CHARGE ME $190 TO DIAGNOSTICS WHEN THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS AND NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

VEHICLE HEADLAMP FAILED ACCORDING TO THE NISSAN DEALER WE TOOK IT TO. THEY CLAIMED THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE FAIL. NOW I'M FREAKED OUT TO DRIVE CAR THINKING ABOUT WHAT IF THE OTHER FAILS COMPLETELY. THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO FIX IT. ITS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I DON'T WANT TO GET INTO A WRECK IF THE HEADLAMPS FAIL ON BOTH SIDES. THEY ARE PUTTING MYSELF AND DAUGHTER AT RISK.

I was driving at 25 MPH when I heard and felt a clunk. The car drove strangely and each small bump in the road was noisy. I pulled over and did not see anything obvious. I put on my flashers and drove the car to my mechanic. He discovered a broken rear wheel control arm. He said I was lucky this happened at a low speed rate. Nissan has refused and coverage. I was told by my mechanic that this is not a part that should fail on a 2016 car and could have resulted is a serious accident at a higher rate of speed.

- Front windshield; internal bubbles/separation of glass at top edge of front windshield as it meets the seal. - The glass appears to be separating internally, compromising the safety aspect and will start to spread downward over time. - The factory front windshield was already replaced once a few years back by Nissan dealership for this exact same problem (can provide exact dates/information later); and the same exact problem is happening again. Nissan dealership knows about it, but has not officially inspected/documented for their records, but I can get this completed. - No warning/symptoms other than visual inspection/noticing the issue occuring when cleaning car. - Contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs about the problem, and that this is the second time of the exact problem, but Nissan Consumer Affairs would only state that Nissan could do nothing about the problem at this time, although this is a clear defect of the windshield manufacturing process. I provided pictures of the problem, and they wouldn't even address the problem, other than, Nissan can't do anything at this time about the problem. There is a Nissan TSB regarding windshield issues/defects, but also addresses warranty. The second replacement windshield is not in warranty, and asked Nissan to see if they could resolve the problem due to manufacturer defect and the fact that it may spread downward, causing more problems and/or safety stability of the top of the windshield and have an engineer or specialist look into it, they were not willing to do this.

No matter what speed you’re going it puts itself in false neutral. Abs , traction control comes on battery light flashes. No power steering and will not accelerate. Have almost been ran into and ran over. There is no warning when this happens and not yet find a service department or garage that can fix the problem. Very dangerous especially for a new driver, I bought this car for my daughter. This has happened more than once and now we do not drive the car due to it not being safe. New battery and alternator checks good. Has been scanned for codes several times.

This is third time this has happened. I already filled out one, but they have already replaced my altenator. My car worked fine for about a month, and then it did the same thing where I can't excelarate and the car limps at 1 MPH till it eventually shuts off and will not start up. If you jump the car it will work again, but not for long until it does the same thing. On the Nissan Forums alot of people are talking about this same issue, but nothing is being done and the only fix is to find an OEM altenator, but Nissan doesn't make one anymore. This is really starting to become a huge problem.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped, the vehicle failed to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Alpine Nissan of Denver (2400 W 104th Ave, Denver, CO 80234) where it was diagnosed and determined that the alternator had stopped routing electricity after overheating. The contact was advised by the local dealer that the transmission needed to be replaced and related to failure to Technical Service Bulletin: NTB17-039P (Transmission Judder); which was related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,800.

Vehicle has acceleration issues. Started June 2022 and has continued frequently since. Will randomly stop accelerating then if I try to let off the gas pedal and apply again it shudders so hard it shakes the car. After trying 3-4 times it will accelerate again. The RPM will shoot down to 1 and straight back up to 1.5-2. Maintenance shop has been unable to figure out what’s wrong but it seems many 2016 Maxima owners are having similar issues. Why has there not been a recall to fix this issue? It becomes a serious danger when driving on highways or at high speeds. Someone’s going to get hurt because if this!

My car has stopped acceleration while driving 4 times. Had alternator replaced and transmission reprogrammed. It's currently in shop now for issue. Last 3 times nissan repair says they don't see anything wrong. The car remains on and you can ref up engine. Just will not go once in drive. This is a safety issue bc there's no warning sign. Have almost been hit twice due to sudden lost of acceleration. Cars behind me slammed on break once I was in middle of traffic. Very scary situation.

IN LATE NOVEMBER 2016 THE ABS AND OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ON MY 2016 NISSAN MAXIMA BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY APPEARING ON THE DASHBOARD. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD TO MENTION IT DURING THE NEXT SERVICE APPOINTMENT WHICH WAS SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 27. AT THE APPOINTMENT I WAS NOTIFIED OF SEVERAL RECALLS AND THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT OVERNIGHT. WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. I WAS ALSO NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON AN ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR PUMP HOWEVER THE PART WAS BACK ORDERED FROM NISSAN. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ASKED ME AND TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE DASH IF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS APPEARED AGAIN. APPROXIMATELY 1 WEEK LATER THE LIGHTS REAPPEARED AND I TOOK THE ATTACHED PHOTO. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT WHEN THE RECALL PART WAS INSTALLED AND WOULD SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ONCE THE PART ARRIVED. ON JANUARY 19, 2017 THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE AFTER SITTING FOR OVER 2 HOURS AND BURNED TO A TOTAL LOSS. AT NO TIME WAS I NOTIFIED THAT THE RECALL WAS A FIRE HAZARD. SINCE THE INCIDENT I HAVE FILED A CASE WITH NISSAN HOWEVER THEY HAVE TAKEN OVER A MONTH TO RESPOND AND BY THE TIME THEY INSPECT THE VEHICLE IT WILL BE OVER 45 DAYS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND ALL INDICATORS POINT TO A DEFECTIVE PART.

05/21/21--2016 Nissan Maxima with CVT tranmissions problems. No current recalls, but lots of lemon law cases from 2012-2018 with all models except the maxima. Have 94K on it and was driving and it stopped mid street almost threw my son out the front windshield. Took it to Nissan $4800 to replace. Bought vehicle with CVT transmission being sold as "smoothness". but in reality it has been a complete nightmare that Nissan ignores on the maximas.

There was a thermal combustion that caused a fire. Yes, the caught combusted at a local business. I had just entered the building and was told that my car was on fire. The police and Nissan inspected the car but refused to provide the inspection report. A light came on. I do not know the exact date that it appeared. I just received the recall notice and did not have the opportunity to get the car repaired.

The power on the dashboard goes out and I have no way of knowing my speed, the milage, or any other information on how the vehicle is operating. The radio and other dashboard instruments are off the screens are black and I can't receive any information on how the vehicle is operating. Our safety is at risk since when this happens, we don't know if it would stop abruptly and cause an accident. We have not taken it to a dealer yet but are scheduling an appointment. No other parties have inspected the vehicle yet. The Warning that came across the radio screen was this: Check the Map SD Memory Card Please see the owner's manual in detail SET: QY8100NA Application: 102 SNO: 00010697 Application: 107 E-CODE: NK-SD-11 This first happened in the later part of March on the 28th of this year. The Dash does this off and on thing randomly and sometimes it runs fine. The owner's manual didn't help.

The headlights are dim. I have replaced them with brighter H11 bulbs but I still cannot see. Others who have driven my car have indicated that the headlights are noticeably dimmer than normal. I literally cannot see the roadway. Also, I started having problems with the CVT shortly before 60,000miles. The problem was diagnosed as rudder codes. I was not financially able to replace the CVT at the time although I did ultimately replace it. The headliner inside the car has been falling down for years and I keep re gluing it around the rear view window. The panoramic sunroof has a seal that is melting away on the two side panels at the rear of the car. I keep trying to seal them, but they keep getting sticky and melting towards total deterioration.

2016 nissan, noticed while stuck in traffic on highway on rainy day the vehicle seemed to want to loose power and battery light was coming on. I was able to exit highway an make it home. Later that night while at laundry mat headed to get food the car wouldn't accelerate eventually died an wouldn't start. Next day go to get it towed yet started no problem acceleration was fine alternator voltage was normal range. Few weeks later battery was dead which I have replaced. Alternator voltage still reads normal. I get about 20 minutes driving and battery light pops on eventually soon power steering and traction control goes out then car will die. If leave it few hrs 2-4hr an come back is fine. But can't drive 20min before it is a problem again. Has caused serious finacial strain and still paying for vehicle close to loosing employment it dies everyday then I have to pay for ride home and to go back to get it later. Have gotting stuck in intersection car just stops working. People have almost crashed into me because i cant get it off the road. Electrical or software computer problem somewhere.

I was driving on I75 driving around 75 mph when all of a sudden the sunroof exploded. It sounded like a shotgun went off over my head and glass started pouring down on top of me. The sunroof malfunctioned without any warning whatsoever. This was a very jarring event to occur on the interstate of all places. Thankfully, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and exit the interstate using the first available exit and called my insurance company to report the incident.

As mentioned, this is in reference to a vehicle 2016 Nissan Maxima review for vehicle repairs. The mentioned vehicle, 2016 Nissan Maxima (VIN: [XXX] ) is owned by [XXX] II, confirmed by United Services Automobile Association (USAA) in March of 2023. The mentioned vehicle was involved in a weather related collision in July of 2021. The Cause No [XXXXXXXXXXX] went through review in the Bexar County Districts Courts. During which time, there were court ordered mediation: it was confirmed by [XXX] with USAA that the security system was deactivated in the Nissan Maxima. [XXX] with USAA also indicated that the mentioned vehicle was paid in full. Be advised Mr. [XXX] falsely presented facts in the court of law as indicated by the collection document dated August of 2023, which was emailed to Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. On another occasion while at a stop light, the contact became aware of smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact attempted to accelerate; however, the vehicle failed to respond. Problem 1. Airbag. Driver's side airbag prematurely failed in 2021. Dealer says requires replacement of driver's seat back at $5K Problem 2. Transmission failed prematurely (77,000 miles) after placing me in multiple dangerous traffic situations. The car would fail to accelerate and eventually stall while I was turning or simply driving. Once it failed to accelerate when I was turning and I was almost struck by oncoming traffic! It was only the grace of God that saved me.

I would have my cruise control set and it would detect I was too close to another vehicle (which there was no other vehicle anywhere). The cruise would shut off, and I would be unable to reset my cruise due to the radar sensor problems. This has not yet evolved a collision or other accidents. I know that this is dangerous to the point of relying on something and then it just stop whenever it wants. I do not wish any accidents, but it sounds as though if no one has been seriously injured or even death that this would be a continuing thing and somehow cost the owner money to fix a Nissan problem. I would also have my cruise set and it would detect a vehicle in front of me, and instead of adapting to the vehicle's speed it would beep then turn off. All while in morning traffic, and would have to manual accelerate since it no longer was working. I have taken my Maxima to the local Nissan Dealer ship with no positive out come.

The contact stated a warning message was illuminated to keep the key fob close to the push to start button. The contact called the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the key fob battery to be replaced. The key fob battery was changed but continued to experience the failure. The contact also stated that the vehicle was also stalling. The contact took the vehicle to Paul Miller Nissan (930 Kings Hwy E, Fairfield, CT 06825: (203) 335-3181) where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission and the crankshaft sensor to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

October 25, 2021 At 4:30 PM. After waiting for the light to turn green, I enter the Clear Lake Park making a left a right and left turn into the park. While turning left that’s when I notice a decreased in power, and an exclamation symbo, but the car kept advancing very smooth!! But when I tried to park the vehicle it started shaking, vibrating with a roaring sound, it felt like even the tires ware going to get off the rims!! Making a lot of noice!! I had difficulty steering and parking between two spaces hit the concrete barrier twice or tree times, at that time the steering wheel was to hard to control. I turn the car off on parked I was puzzled, for what happened. After five or ten minutes I start the car again place it on reverse then on drive the car was moving very, very, slow with the gas paddle to the floor. Advance to the other side by the Community Center, as I turn left to park, the car started shaking again the steering wheel was very, very hard to control turning left but the force of the tires ware moving right. I was holding on to the steering wheel trying to park again at this time the car completely die on me. By then it was almost 5:00 PM. I called my insurance to request roadside assistance, and a wrecker service that didn’t arrived. After one hour and half a driver came to help to start the battery, he attempted to start the battery twice. This happened after one of my sons had tried two times too. Finally the car starts again, after dealing with it for 4 hours. Drove it for a quarter of a block and died again. The wrecker service came the next day to drive the car to Clear Lake Nissan, they kept the car for two days and supposedly didn’t find anything wrong with it. If this problem had happened on Nassau, road probably I would had been killed. Today the 29th of October, After doing some errands and returning home a symbol of a transmission came on the dashboard while the car was loosing power it hardly made it up to my driveway

2016 Nissan Maxima SR, problem started at 22000 miles, car runs fine, then when hitting a bump or railroad tracks, and sometime while accelerating at a light or from a stop the car goes into limp mode, max speed is apx 6 mph just enough to get it off road, at times it stalls in the intersection or when you come to a stop. Traction control light and engine light come on until you shut car down and restart. engine light remains on solid but can be driven in most cases, at times it turns over then stalls, if you wait long enough it usually resets snd is drivable. Has several DTC codes when checked on of them is P1735 and a few others. It’s dangerous because you lose the ability to get properly through an intersection or to get by traffic on highway or side street, I have put my emergency lights on several times when this has happened. After reviewing TSB’s Technical Service Bullatans it seems I am not alone with this issue.

ON 1/31/2021 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE LEFT SHOULDER BEFORE I BECOME A HAZARD. MY SON PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW 2016 NISSAN MAXIMA ON 11-14-2015. HE IS IN THE MILITARY AND NOW RESIDES IN EL PASO, TX. AS HE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE HIS TIRE BLEW OUT. AT THAT TIME HE HAD ABOUT 8000 MILES. HE CONTACTED NISSAN WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER TIRES AND HE HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE. THIS 1ST INSTANCE OCCURRED IN JUNE 2016. THE 2ND TIRE BLOW OUT OCCURRED IN NOVEMBER 2016. THE 3RD INSTANCE OCCURRED MARCH 2017.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 NISSAN MAXIMA. WHILE DRIVING 50-55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT LOST POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, AND OTHER ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER REPLACED THE VALVE ASSEMBLY, SEAL LIP, STRAINER ASSEMBLY, CLIP, OIL PAN GASKET, O-RING SEAL, WASHER DRAIN, AND NS-3 CVT TRANSMISSION; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,131.

STEERING/STRAIGHT LINE TRACKING ON THIS NISSAN MAXIMA SV (PURCHASED 06/28/2016) IS HORRIBLY UNPREDICTABLE FROM IT'S DATE OF PURCHASE. DRIVER REQUIRED TO BE HYPERSENSITIVE TO CORRECTING TRACKING/LINE DIRECTION OF AFOREMENTIONED VEHICLE. NATURAL TENDENCY OF FRONT WHEELS ARE TO CAREEN TO LEFT AND RIGHT ABRUPTLY AND DANGEROUSLY WITH THE RESULT BEING TO MOVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE OR DRIFT QUICKLY OUTSIDE OF PAINTED LANE LINES. CONSTANT AND INORDINATE ATTENTION IS NEEDED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH OR HIGHER. IN MOTION, HIGHWAY, STRAIGHT PATHS.

TAKATA RECALL.I BROUGHT MY 2016 MAXIMA IN JUNE 2015. PLASTIC BOTTLES MELTS AND EXPLODES IN MY CAR. AND EYE GLASS CLASS MELTS. FRONT RIGHT BUMBER CLAMPS BROKE OFF. MONTHS LATER CAT STARTED MAKING A CHRUCHING SOUND WHEN I HIT A BUMP. REPLACE BUSHINGS. 3 DAYS LATER THE NOSE CAME BACK. WENT BACK TO NISSAN THEY SAID THE STRUT NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. WENT BACK 2 MONTHS LATER THE PART IS STILL ON BACK ORDER. FRONT DRIVER SEAT BROKE IN THE 1ST 2 WEEKS OF OWNING IT. GOT A NEW SEAT. AND THE DOOR JAMS WAS POORLY PAINTED. TOOK ALMOST 7 WEEKS TO GET A NEW SEAT AND PAINT FOR THE CAR. DRIVER SEAT BEAT LATCH JAMMED UP HAD TO GET THAT REPLACE TOO.

FRONT BUMPER CLIP BROKEN CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AT LOW SPEEDS. CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT WHEN DRIVING. ALIGNMENT WAS CHECKED, BUT WAS FINE ACCORDING TO A NISSAN DEALER TECHNICIAN. THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMED TO MOMENTARILY LOCK WHEN MAKING A SWIFT AND SHARP LEFT TURN.
