THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. SLOW MOVING . THEN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. ENGINE CODE U1000. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. THEY REPLACED THE STARTED. I PAID THEM 400.00. I GOT IN THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. THE MECHANIC REPLACED A 20A FUSE IN THE FUSE BOX FOR THE ECU. DROVE VEHICLE HOME, THEN WOULD NOT START AGAIN. RESEARCHED ONLINE STUMBLED ONTO ARTICLE ABOUT DEFECTIVE NISSAN TRANSMISSION BEING A TICKING TIME BOMB. CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID, STRAWBERRY MILK SHAKE. RADIATOR FLUID DARK. THANKS NISSAN , I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED, FOUND OUT THE ENGINE WAS BAD, SPENT 8000.00 REPLACING THE ENGINE AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR ARE BAD. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN. WHY WASN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THE RADIATOR ???

OUR TRANSMISSION STARTED SHUTTERING IN 2018. TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. THERE WAS NO MILKY FLUID SO WE SIMPLY REPLACED TRANSMISSION WITH A USED TRANNY. 6 MONTHS LATER 2ND TRANNY FAILED WITH ONLY 1ST & 2ND WORKING. WE TOOK BOTH TRANSMISSIONS TO A SPECIALIST. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE CURRENT ANTIFREEZE DOES NOT LEAVE MILKY FLUID AND BOTH TRANSMISSIONS WERE CONTAMINATED. THIS MEANS THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE FAILURE OF BOTH. HE TOLD US THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PATHFINDER.

RADIATOR WAS DEFECTIVE (ORIGINAL) AND LEAKED COOLANT INTO TRANSMISSION CAUSING BREAKDOWN OF TRANSMISSION, NEUTRAL/PARK SENSOR, COMPUTER. NEED TO REPLACE RADIATOR, REBUILD TRANSMISSION AND REPLACE SENOR. $5K JOB. NEVER WAS NOTIFIED OF DEFECTIVE RADIATOR PROBLEM AND THUS DID NOT KNOW THAT THIS WOULD BE AN ISSUE. NISSAN WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact noticed that there was unknown fluid leaking underneath the vehicle onto the ground. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact checked the radiator and noticed that the coolant was leaking from the radiator. An independent mechanic was contacted and stated that it sounded as if the transmission might have cracked; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer was not contacted. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOWELL MOTORS BUICK, GMC, NISSAN (1158 HIGHWAY 51-98 SUMMIT, MS 39666, (PHONE) 601-276-7711) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO A RADIATOR LEAK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED BY THE SAME DEALER IN 2015; HOWEVER, THE RADIATOR REPLACEMENT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING VERY ROUGHLY AND LOUDLY DURING ACCELERATION, THEN SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT ON A VERY BUSY FRONTAGE ROAD TO THE HIGHWAY. SHE WAS ABLE TO STEER IT ONTO THE SHOULDER BEFORE IT STOPPED COASTING; AND SEVERAL PEOPLE STOPPED TO HELP HER PUSH IT INTO SAFETY IN A NEARBY PARKING LOT. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, THE MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID HAD LEAKED THROUGH CRACKS INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSING IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, WE DISCOVERED THIS WAS A KNOWN AND ACKNOWEDGED PROBLEM WITH 2005-2010 NISSAN PATHFINDERS, BUT NEITHER A RECALL NOR A WARNING WAS EVER ISSUED. WE ARE NOW BEYOND THE WARRANTY COVERAGE IN TIME AND IN MILEAGE, SO NISSAN WILL NOT COVER ANY OF THE EXPENSES TO REPAIR.

I BOUGHT MY 07 PATHFINDER IN JULY AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD DONE REPAIR ON THE RADIATOR AT THEIR EXPENSE, AND REPLACED THE COOLANT AND TRANNY FLUIDS AND STATED THERE WAS NO CROSS CONTAMINATION. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STOPPED SHIFTING PROPERLY AND WE COULDN'T TELL IF IT WAS THE TRANNY, ABS, OR 4WD GETTING CAUGHT. AS OF YESTERDAY THE TRANNY WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS. RESTARTING THE CAR HELPED. BUT SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL THERE IS NO HISTORY OF ANY OTHER WORK. ALL MAINTENANCE WAS KEPT UP WITH THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE VEHICLES LIFE. AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT A STOP, AND MOVED TO ACCELERATE IT WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR/DRIVE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULD ?CATCH? AND WOULD LAUNCH.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TEMPERATURE GAUGE PEGGED OUT AT THE HIGH SIDE AND THERE WAS A BURNING METAL SMELL. I WAS TOLD BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS THAT THE RADIATOR FAILED AND LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE IS BEYOND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT NISSAN GAVE AND THEY NEVER CONTACTED ME TO LET ME KNOW THAT THERE EVEN WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.

I HAD NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER THE FRONT /RIGHT PORTION OF MY VEHICLE AFTER I PARKED. I OPENED THE HOOD AND THE RESERVE CAP TO THE RADIATOR HAD COME LOOSE. AFTER LETTING MY VEHICLE COOL, I INSPECTED BOTH THE RESERVE TANK AND RADIATOR AND NOTICED THE FLUID WAS NOW A MILKY/FROTHY SUBSTANCE. AFTER SOME DETECTIVE WORK, I LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH PATHFINDERS FROM 2005- THROUGH 2010 THAT NISSAN HAS IGNORED TO FIX. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER IN THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY "FAILS" CAUSING CONTAMINATION TO THE INTERNAL TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS ,AND DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL TRANSMISSION COMPUTER. THERE ARE NO WARNING SIGNS UP TO OR JUST PRIOR TO THE FAILURES. AFTER CONTACTING NISSAN AND RECEIVING A DENIAL TO FIX OUR TRUCK UNDER A WARRANTY, I AM STUCK WITH A VEHICLE WITH SEVERAL "THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS" IN REPAIRS ALL DUE TO NISSAN IGNORING A KNOWN DEFECT AND NOT ISSUING A RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES IN THE "KNOWN" YEAR BRACKET WITH THESE ISSUES. I'M SURE NOTHING WILL BE DONE REGARDING THIS ISSUE DUE TO THERE NOT BEING A MAJOR LOSS OF LIVES INVOLVED, I.E. TAKATA AIRBAGS,BUT I FIND IT IS MY DUTY TO ADD MY NAME TO AN ALREADY HEFTY LIST OF OTHER NISSAN PATHFINDER OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM.

FUEL GAUGE WAS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, TO WHERE WHEN I FILLED IT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DROP TO ZERO/EMPTY. I TOOK IT INTO THE NISSAN DEALER (SANDY SANDSING IN PENSACOLA, FL) AND THEY TOLD ME THE ISSUE/RECALL WAS LIMITED TO THE ALTIMA AND THE XTERRA ONLY AND NOT MY PATHFINDER. AT 38000 MILES THE FUEL GAUGE ISSUE WAS CONSTANT, BUT IT WAS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. FINALLY, NISSAN ISSUED A RECALL AND I WAS UNABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE MY MILEAGE WAS OVER THEIR LIMIT. I AM NOT ASKING TO HAVE THIS SENSOR REPLACED JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT, IT IS INOPERABLE. 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER, THE FUEL SENDING UNIT IS THE PROBLEM (ERROR CODE PO463), AFTER FUELING UP THE GAS GAUGE LEVEL DROPPED, FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. NISSAN ASSIST REFUSES TO COVER THE PROBLEM STATING THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE CAMPAIGN IS OVER. I WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT A CAMPAIGN OR EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM UNTIL NOW. Ref. No. 11452064 dated May 12. 2023 After contacting the servicing dealership, a reply was received acknowledging coolant and transmission fluid cross-contamination was discovered. Along with the other complaints already received, I hope this is enough to proof to finally substantiate just remedies to all who purchased a defective product.

I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I DROVE HOME AND THE NEXT WEEK I WENT TO REPLACE MY BRAKES AND ASK THE WORKSHOP TO DO A SCAN TO LET ME KNOW WHY THE LIGHT IS ON, THEY DID AND 2 CODES CAME UP WHICH THE SHOP SAID THEY DID NOT SEE BEFORE SO THEY CLEARED THE SYSTEM AND SAID IF IT COMES ON AGAIN TO TAKE IT BACK SO THEY CAN FULLY INVESTIGATE. I WENT ON 9/28 TO ANOTHER WORKSHOP THEY DID A SCAN AND THE CODE P1772 CAME ON AFTER INSPECTING THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE RADIATOR CAP WITH SOME THICK GOOEY STUFF TELLING ME THE RADIATOR IS BAD AND THE COOLANT IS MIXING WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND VICE VERSA. BEFORE THIS THE CAR WOULD RUN AND WHEN I AT A STOP SIGN AND TRY TO MOVE IT WOULD REV TO 4-5 STALLS AND THEN MOVE, THEY ARE ALSO TIMES OF SUDDEN JERK AND ACCELERATION. THEY HAVE ALSO BEEN TWICE WHEN I TRIED TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, I HAD TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE THEN RESTART BEFORE I COULD REVERSE.. 2007 PATHFINDER WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET AND STALLED WHILE IN MOTION. WAS ABLE TO STEER AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. STEERING WAS HARD TO MANEUVER. AFTER REPEATED TIMES OF CRANKING IT WOULD NOT START.. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO OWNERS RESIDENCE. WHEN BEING DROPPED OFF OWNER STARTED VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT INTO DRIVEWAY. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OF ANY SORT WAS LIT. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AROUND THE BLOCK AND STALLED AGAIN. JUST PURCHASED MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER LE ( 4X4) WITH 55,000 MILES ON IT ( OUR FAULT SIGN UNSEEN) FROM OUT OF STATE ( FLORIDA DEALERSHIP) I BELIEVE IT WAS ORIGINALLY A VA CAR. WE HAD IT HAULED UP VIA TRUCK TO WISCONSIN. NOW MIND YOU WE HAVE PAID FOR THIS CAR ALREADY SO WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE IT. I MOVED IT OUT OF THE WAY UNTIL I COULD GET IT LICENSED, MY HUSBAND THEN STARTED IT WHEN HE GOT HOME AND HE WENT AROUND THE BLOCK AND THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED FULL HOWEVER WHEN I PULLED IT OUT OF THE WAYAFTER DRIVING AROUND A COUPLE OF BLOCKS IT WENT TO E AND THE LIGHT CAME ON. MY HUSBAND WENT TO FILL IT UP THINKING THAT MAY HELP, BUT IT WOULD NOT ALLOW HIM TO FILL IT, IT WOULD PUT SOME IN, THEN STOP, HE DID THAT 5 TIMES AND GAVE UP. WE CHECKED ONLINE FOR ANY RECALLS AND FOUND THERE WERE SEVERAL ONE OF THEM BEING A FUEL SENSOR ISSUE. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WE GOT IT FROM AND THEY SAID ANY RECALLS HAVE SINCE BEEN EXPIRED. BEING WE ARE THE 2ND OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE WE DON'T KNOW IF THE FIRST OWNER DID ANYTHING IF THERE WERE RECALLS. HOW CAN WE FIND THIS OUT? IF THERE IS A WAY TO SHOW THIS, AND THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT IT, IS THERE A WAY TO GET THESE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY? ALSO, IS THERE A WAY TO SEE IF THE CODE WE ARE GETTING HAS BEEN IN THE CARS MEMORY FOR SOME TIME ? MY FUEL TANK IS WARPED SO THE FUEL FLOAT SENSOR GETS STUCK MOSTLY ON EMPTY SO I CANT TELL HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE. EVEN AFTER I FILL THE FUEL TANK IT STILL TELLS ME I AM EMPTY. OCASIONALLY IF I HIT A BUMP AFTER FILLLING IT WILL SHOW THE CORRECT AMMOUNT OF FUEL. I AM AFRAID I WILL RUN OUT OF GAS, STALL AND GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN FAILED RADIATOR THAT DAMAGED TRANSMISSION. TOOK MY CAR IN AFTER SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE CODE AND THE PROBLEM BEING THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY DAMAGED. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH, IT IS A FAULTY RADIATOR THAT LEAKED AND ALLOWED WATER TO MIX INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING DAMAGE. I SEARCHED AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NISSAN HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS OTHER THAN FORCIBLY THROUGH A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT IS CLOSED. THE RESPONSIBILITY OF NISSAN FOR NOT CORRECTING THIS DEFECT AND ALLOWING THESE COSTS TO BE ON THE SHOULDER'S OF THE CONSUMER IS NEGLIGENT.

THE CAR HAS 71, 000 MILES AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. MY WIFE WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RISK OF FURTHER DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. THE ISSUE IS WITH A 2007 PATHFINDER. WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE ENGINE STARTS TO RACE AND THERE IS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION. TWICE I HAVE INCURRED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. IF A STATIONARY OBJECT HAD NOT BEEN IN THE WAY (POLES), THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO PLOW FORWARD. MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN BOTH INSTANCES BUT THE CAR CONTINUED FORWARD WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RACING (SOUNDED LIKE YOUR FOOT WAS ACTUALLY ON HE GAS PEDAL AND PURPOSELY RACING THE CAR). VEHICLE LOST POWER, WILL NOT TRANSMIT POWER TO THE WHEELS, APPEARS TO BE A HIGHLY COMPLAINT AMONG ALL OWNERS. TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED IN A HEAVY TRAFFIC AREA. FUEL LEVEL SENDER IS NO LONGER WORKING.

I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE A YEAR AGO AT 79,000 MILES. IN JANUARY OF 2015, I HIT THE 100,000 MILE MARK AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. LOUD AND JERKY SHIFTING AND SMELLING FOUL IN THE AIR CONDITIONER. NISSAN DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND SINCE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, (100,000 MILES) THAT THEY WEREN'T LIABLE. HE SAID I COULD DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT SHOULDN'T BREAK DOWN FOR ANOTHER FEW THOUSAND MILES. SO I JUST PARKED IT. I WOULD ONLY DRIVE IT IF I ABSOLUTELY HAD NO OTHER CHOICE. FRIDAY, MAY 15 2015 I WAS COMING HOME FROM A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY BROKE DOWN. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME. AT 40 MPH, THE RPM WAS AT ALMOST 5,000. I PULLED OVER TO CALL MY HUSBAND AND WHEN WE PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE, IT WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE. I HAD TO TOW IT HOME AND IT'S COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN. I DON'T HAVE 4,000 TO SPEND ON A TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR.

The vehicle jolted without warning And would not move. The transmission cooling lines ruptured in the radiator causing a complete Destruction,pink fluid oozed out of the Radiator. This was due to a Nissan defect that Was NEVER informed us of this problem that could have caused our deaths and the safety of others on the roads.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND WHEN I PULLED OVER THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE AND SHUT DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO MY HOUSE. I HAD A FAMILY MECHANIC LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR CRACKED. I ORDERED A RADIATOR AND IT WAS PUT IT. THEN FOUND OUT THAT WATER HAD GOTTEN INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. WENT AND BOUGHT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID J SPECIFICALLY FOR NISSAN AND WAS GOING TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ADD MORE IT WAS THEN THAT THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING AND WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST. WHERE I WAS TOLD THE HEAD GASKET IS CRACKED. I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS CAR AND HAVE NO VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO WORK OR SCHOOL.

ON JULY 31, 2015 MY CAR JERKED AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BY THE TIME I GOT IT TO THE SHOP (ABOUT 45 MIN LATER) IT WAS HAVING TROUBLE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. WHEN I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF WE COULD NOT GET IT RESTARTED. THE SHOP SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMPUTER. I HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND MY CAR HAD THE SAME ISSUE AS OTHER NISSANS. THE COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN THE COMPUTER SHORTING OUT. I NOW HAVE TO PAY $4,200 TO HAVE THE RADIATOR REPLACED, THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AND THE ENGINE FLUSHED. IF NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD A RECALL FOR THIS. FROM WHAT I AM READING ONLINE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE.

I HAD JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE OFF OF EBAY FROM INDIVIDUALS IN NEW BRAUNFELS , TEXAS DROVE IT BACK TO AMARILLO , TEXAS. I WENT TO DROP A LOAD OF ITEMS OFF AT AMARILLO'S GIVING CLOSET FOR PEOPLE IN NEED. IT RAN PERFECT ON THE WAY OVER THERE. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF WHILE I WAS UNLOADING EVERYTHING. WHEN I WENT TO START MY VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START ALTHOUGH THE LIGHTS AND THINGS WOULD COME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO A SHOP AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS BEING CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE CONTROL. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS MESSED UP ACTS IF THERE IS NO 1ST OR 2ND GEAR TAKING OFF IN 3RD GEAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT A 2007 PATHFINDER FROM A VERY REPUTABLE USED CAR BUSINESS, CARMAX ALMOST 3 YEARS AGO. THEY ARE VERY WELL KNOWN IN THE AREA FOR THOROUGHLY CHECKING THEIR VEHICLES BEFORE RESELLING. IT HAD APPROX 59K MILES ON IT AND I'VE LOVED IT UNTIL RECENTLY. I STARTED EXPERIENCING HEATING PROBLEMS AWHILE AGO BUT MY MECHANIC COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG - HE EVEN CHECKED THE RADIATOR. A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHUDDER OCCASIONALLY WHEN I REACHED ABOUT 40 MPH. AT FIRST IT WAS VERY MINOR, I ACTUALLY THOUGHT IT WAS MAYBE GROOVES IN THE ROAD, ETC BUT THE ISSUE GOT WORSE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION - THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. I WAS ALSO TOLD FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION PROBABLY WOULDN'T HELP. THE RADIATOR IS GOING TO COST ME $913 AND BECAUSE THIS IS SUCH A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND AT $7400! I STILL OWE ON THIS VEHICLE AND AM WONDERING HOW WILL I EVER TRADE THIS IN OR EVEN AFFORD TO FIX IT. ON PARTICULAR DAY CAR ACTUALLY QUIT WORKING FOR GOOD, HUSBAND HAD PULLED INTO PARKING SPACE BECAUSE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FROM THAT POINT FORWARD THE CAR WILL NOT CRANK. WHEN CAR FIRST STARTED SHUTTERING AND REVVING, CAR WAS TAKEN TO TRANSMISSION BUSINESS AND THERE WERE SEVERAL CARS OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL (NOT CERTAIN THAT ALL WERE OF SAME YEAR) WAITING TO HAVE TRANSMISSIONS REPLACED BECAUSE COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND GRADUALLY KILLED THEM. MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE SLUGGISH AS IF IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND TRIED TO CRANK MY TRUCK TO LEAVE IT WOULD NOT SAY A WORD. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALER IN MORROW FOR A DIAGNOSTICS TESTING. I RECEIVED A CALL THE NEXT DAY STATING THAT THE RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO GET THE TRUCK UP AND RUNNING. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT I HAD M VEHICLE SERVICED LESS THAN A MONTH AGO AND THERE WAS NEVER AN INDICATION THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. THEY QUOTED ME 6,100 TO REPAIR MY TRUCK. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED AND SENT TO AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED MY TRUCK AS NEEDING A ENGINECONTROL MODULE. MY ISSUE WITH NISSAN IS THAT THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS SIMILIAR TO MINE AND THEY OFFERED NO HELP TO RESOLVE MY PROBLEMS. THIS VEHICLE HAS APPROX 80K MILES WHEN HEAT STOPPED WORKING AND TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING HARD. I WAS INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC THAT COOLANT HAD MIXED WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND THAT IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AT NISSAN. WE REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND FLUIDS. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS INOPERABLE AND NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. MY MECHANIC AT MIDAS OF RICHMOND VA INFORMED ME THAT HE SEES THIS PROBLEM ALL THE TIME AND THAT NISSAN IS DOING NOTHING. CLEARLY, NISSAN KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM AND HAS REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACTION DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF THE REPAIR. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS A KNOWN DEFECT ISSUE. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD BE ALLOWED TO INSTALL A MAJOR VEHICLE COMPONENT WITH A KNOWN DEFECT AND FOR THE CUSTOMER TO HAVE NO RECOURSE.

"TAKATA RECALL" OUT OF THE CLEAR BLUE I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 PATHFINDER AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY THAT DAY AND IT PASSED PER SERVICE MANAGER LOUIS CASTILLO AT BAKER JACKSON NISSAN IN HOUSTON TEXAS, 2 DAYS LATER THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND ONCE AGAIN I WENT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSORS AND OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THE COST IS $1500. I CALLED NISSAN CORP AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO TAKING RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THOUGH THEY STATED ALL 2007 PATHFINDERS IN OTHER STATES WOULD BE GIVEN A 10 YEAR WARRANTY. MY TRUCK WAS ALSO AFFECTED WITH THE RADIATOR FLULID MIXING WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, DURING THE YEARS OF 2010-2012 I CONSTANTLY TOOK MY TRUCK TO BAKER JACKSON NISSAN AND THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN LARRY JUST TOPPED OFF MY TRUCK HIMSELF AND NEVER MADE A RECORD OF IT. HE KEPT ASSURING ME THAT HE WAS SAVING ME MONEY. MY TRANSMISSION FAILED BUT BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE IN 2012 NISSAN WAS ABLE TO DENY FIXING MY TRANSMISSION VIA THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I ENDED UP SPENDING $4800 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. IN 2010 NISSAN CONVINCED ME TO REPLACE MY TRAIN FOR $1600, I NEVER KNEW IT WAS A RECALL UNTIL TODAY. ANOTHER CAVEAT TO THIS MESS IS THAT BAKER JACKSON CHANGED THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM AND HAS NO RECORD OF ME REPLACING MY TRAIN. I HAVE A BANK STATEMENT TO PROVE IT IF NECESSARY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED INCORRECT FUEL LEVEL READINGS. TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FRIED DUE TO CONTAMINATION FROM THE RADIATOR FLUID. NISSAN WAS AWARE OF CONTAMINATION IN TRANSMISSION THROUGH THE RADIATOR AND THIS CONTAMINATION CAUSES THE CONTROL MODULE IN THE TRANSMISSION TO SHORT. EVERY TIME I WANT TO START MY VEHICLE I HAVE TO REPLACE A 10AMP FUSE UNDER THE HOOD THAT WILL ALWAYS BLOW EVERY TIME I START IT. REPAIR COST FOR A NEW CONTROL MODULE ARE EXCEEDING $4000 EVERY PLACE I GO. NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS OF THEIR FAULTY DESIGN. DUE TO THIS DEFECT MY FAMILY WAS STRANDED, I HAD TO LEAVE MY WORK AND PICK THEM UP IN BELOW 30 DEGREE TEMPERATURES.

THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. WHEN WE CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY NEVER TOLD US ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY QUOTED A PRICE THAT WE, A MILITARY FAMILY COULD NOT AFFORD,AND THAT WAS IT. THEN LAST YEAR, A SHUDDERING BEGAN. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND SPENT ALMOST $800. THEY FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE SHUDDERING ONLY GOT WORSE. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND NOW BOTH NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY BASICALLY SAID THAT ITS MY PROBLEM!! I HAVE BEEN IN TEARS SINCE. MY HUSBAND IS IN AFGHANISTAN FIGHTING FOR HIS COUNTRY. RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH MY TRANSMISSION FLUID, MAKING THE CAR UNDRIVEABLE. AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW AS THE RPM'S WERE INCREASING. NOTE: AFFECTED PARTS ARE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR (NOT SURE WHAT CATEGORY THOSE FALL IN) I PURCHASED A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AGO. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING I NOTICED WHAT SEEMED TO BE A MINOR LACK OF POWER OR CUTTING OUT WHEN COASTING DOWNHILL. I MENTIONED IT TO MY SALES REP, AND AGAIN WHEN I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SHOP ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR A TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE AND REAR DOOR HANDLE PROBLEM. I HAD NEVER OWNED A 4WD BEFORE AND IT WAS DISMISSED AS NO BIG DEAL SINCE IT STILL DROVE OKAY. THEN LAST WEEK, OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND, MY CAR OVERHEATED AND IMMEDIATELY DISCHARGED A GREY MILKY SUBSTANCE FROM THE RADIATOR WITHOUT WARNING. IT HAD NOT OVERHEATED PRIOR TO THIS. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND THE RADIATOR NEED REPLACING TO THE TUNE OF $6,600. THE CAUSE BEING THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS REPAIR IS OVER HALF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. I NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THE DEFECT. AT A MINIMUM I WOULD HAVE INSISTED IT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. I PAID FULL RETAIL PRICE FOR THE CAR NOT KNOWING OF THIS DEFECT. WHILE AT A FULL STOP AT A RED LIGHT, WITH NO VEHICLES TO MY RIGHT, THE REAR RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW IN MY 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER SUDDENLY EXPLODED OUTWARD. THERE WAS A FIST SIZED HOLE IN THE WINDOW, AND ENTIRE WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. ALL GLASS EXITED OUTWARD AND REMAINING GLASS WAS VISIBLY BOWED IN AN OUTWARD DIRECTION. THE DEALER (UNIVERSAL CITY NISSAN IN LOS ANGELES) FIRST CLAIMED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A FAILURE BEFORE, THEN CONCEDED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR 2004 NISSAN MAXIIMA'S FOR SUNROOF EXPLODING OUTWARD. HOWEVER, THE DEALER SAID BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT "PROVE" TO THE FACTORY THAT THE EXPLOSION WAS DUE TO DEFECT, IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. AT 33,392 MILES, I WENT TO HAVE MY BRAKES INSPECTED AT MY LOCAL SERVICE SHOP DUE TO A SLIGHT SQUEAKING WHEN IN REVERSE. THE OUTSIDE SURFACE OF THE ROTORS WERE SMOOTH SO I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BRAKE DUST BUILD UP. UPON INSPECTION AT THE SHOP, THE INSIDE SURFACE OF BOTH FRONT ROTORS WERE BADLY RUSTED AND THE BRAKE PAD THAT PRESSES AGAINST THE INSIDE SURFACES WERE PARTIALLY GOUGED. BOTH ROTORS COULD NOT BE RESURFACED DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE RUST AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. AND EVEN THOUGH THE OUTER PADS WERE STILL AN OK THICKNESS AND THE OUTER ROTOR SURFACE WAS SMOOTH, THEY ALL NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO THE BADLY RUSTED ROTORS! AFTER TAKING THE PARTS TO MY NISSAN DEALER TO SHOW THEM THE RUSTED ROTOR SURFACES, THEY SUSPECTED THAT THE INSIDE-CALIPER SLIDING PINS HAD RUSTED INHIBITING THE PAD FROM CONTACTING THE INSIDE ROTOR SURFACE, BUT STILL WOULDN'T PAY FOR MY REPLACEMENT SINCE "RUST" WASN'T COVERED! THE KICKER IS THAT THE BRAKES WERE INSPECTED DURING A "COMPLIMENTARY MULTI-POINT CHECK" ONLY ONE YEAR PRIOR WITH NO PROBLEM REPORTED. CONSIDERING I DRIVE THE VEHICLE EVERY DAY TO WORK, IF THE CALIPERS WERE SLIDING AND GRABBING THE ROTORS PROPERLY THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NO RUST BUILD UP AT ALL. BUT APPARENTLY THE INSIDE BRAKE PADS WERE NOT MAKING CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR SURFACE AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION HAD I NEEDED TO BRAKE HARD IN AN EMERGENCY. I get regular Maintenance on my car and have owned it for numerous years. I was driving on a major highway & with no warning the car shut off and locked up. The power steering was completely gone. If it hadn't been for going down hill I probably would of gotten hit as I tried to get off the road. My seat belt locked in place and I had to climb out of the seat belt to get out of the vehicle. The doors were also locked and had an issue opening them at first in 91degree heat it was a very scary experience.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND AS THE FREEWAY WAS COMING TO ITS END WHERE YOU HAVE AN OPTION TO GO ON ANOTHER FREEWAY OR INTO THE CITY AREA, MY CAR COMPLETELY DIED AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP. I WAS TRYING TO ROLL AND STEER MYSELF INTO A SAFE AREA SO THAT CARS WOULD NOT COME CRASHING INTO ME FROM BEHIND AS IT WAS AT NIGHT @ 7:30 PM. AFTER WAITING A MINUTE, I STARTED IT BACK UP AND THE VDC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT WAS DRIVABLE BUT SOMEWHAT JERKY AND STALLED ONCE AGAIN ON MY WAY BACK HOME. I TRIED TO GET THE CAR HOME SAFELY SO I CAN HAVE AAA TOW IT TO THE NEAREST SHOP NEAR MY HOME IF NEEDED. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME AND THEN TOOK IT TO A SHOP WHERE BOTH CAM SHAFT SENSORS WERE REPLACED FOR $500. CAR DROVE BETTER BUT THEN STARTED SHAKING AT 40 MPH OR 60 MPH UNLESS I PUT IT IN OVERDRIVE OR LET OFF THE GAS AND TRIED AGAIN. DRIVING IN OVERDRIVE HELPED. MY MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE SO I THEN FOUND ANOTHER SHOP THAT WAS FULL-SERVICE WHERE THEY DID A FULL DIAGNOSTIC. I RECEIVED THE CALL ABOUT 5 HOURS AFTER DROP-OFF WHERE HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE AND YEAR AND THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE RADIATOR WHICH ALLOWS COOLANT TO MIX WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ULTIMATELY DESTROY THE TRANSMISSION. HE ALSO RECOMMENDED AS A FIX THAT I GET A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION, RADIATOR AND HOSES AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION THAT WOULD GO IN IT WOULD BE A NEWER MODEL NISSAN PATHFINDER TRANSMISSION WHERE THEY HAVE CHANGED/CORRECTED THE DESIGN AND WOULDN'T INCUR THIS ISSUE AGAIN. HE STATED IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPS RUNNING AND THAT I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES THAT IT STILL DOES RUN. DRIVING HOME, AT AROUND 40MPH, UP A HILL (ENGINE UNDER LOAD @ 2,200-2,500 RPM) THE WHOLE CAR BEGAN SUDDENLY TO "SHUDDER"- SIMILAR TO THE FEELING/ SOUND OF RIDING OVER HIGHWAY RUMBLE STRIPS. THIS RESULTED IN A LOSS OF CONTROL OVER THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AND A NOTICEABLE DISTRACTION LEAVING ME UNPREPARED AS A LARGE BUCK RAN OUT FROM THE TREE LINE ATTEMPTING TO CROSS THE ROAD- THE BUCK DID NOT MAKE IT ACROSS. AS I HAVE FOUND IN MY RESEARCH AFTERWARDS, THERE IS A WIDELY KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN WHICH ENGINE COOLANT MIXES WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE RESULTING "GOOP" SHREDS THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE TRANSMISSION RENDERING IT (ALONG WITH THE RADIATOR AND COMPONENTS) COMPLETELY USELESS. THESE VEHICLES ARE UNSAFE FOR THE ROADWAYS AS THIS PROBLEM OCCURS SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY WITHOUT WARNING. I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY FOR BEING ALIVE- NOW, BUT SINCE NISSAN NOR ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION IS WILLING TO RECALL OR REPLACE THIS VEHICLE/ AFFECTED PARTS, I AM STUCK, FORCED TO DRIVE ON THE ROAD BEING A HAZARD TO OTHERS AND MYSELF. *TR

I HAVE MAINTAINED MY CAR. IN JUNE, MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $1500 AFTER I REPORTED A JOLT IN THE TRANSMISSION. I BROUGHT IT BACK 08/10/2012 AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING WITH THE AC ON, MY VEHICLE STARTED TO BLAST OUT HOT AIR THROUGH THE VENTS AND OVERHEAT. MY CAR HAS NEVER RAN HOT BEFORE, I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE I'VE HAD IT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND LET THE CAR COOL DOWN. MY HUSBAND REMOVED THE RADIATOR CAP AND NOTICED A MILKY LIQUID IN THE RADIATOR. WE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND THEY NOTIFIED US OF THE RECALL ON THE NISSAN (2005-2010 MODELS) RADIATORS. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING WHERE THE COOLANT MIXES WITH THE TRANSMISSION FLUIDS AND CAUSE A MAJOR REPAIR PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION, TRANSMISSION KIT, THROTTLE, VIAL BODY, AND TORQUE CONVERTER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL PETRIFIED TO KNOW THAT NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THIS EXISTING PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO HAVE THESE ISSUES REPAIRED RATHER THAN TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT AND EXTENDING THE WARRANTY. WE BOUGHT OUR TRUCK BRAND NEW FROM THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WE ALSO PAID FOR THE 5YR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK FOR 5 YRS AND 2 MTHS, SOMETHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS. WE THE CONSUMERS HAVE TRUSTED THIS BRAND FOR MANY YEARS AND WE DEPEND ON OUR VEHICLES ON A DAILY BASES. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALL IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HARMED IN A HIGH RISK SITUATION. WE HAD THE 90,000 MILEAGE MAINTENANCE COMPLETED WHERE THEY FLUSHED THE RADIATOR, CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION, & ETC. AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON THE CAR. ALSO, THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM HAS BECOME A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD IN THE CAR. THE PATHFINDER'S GASOLINE GAUGE INDICATES THAT IT IS HALF FULL, BUT SUDDENLY THE YELLOW LIGHT COMES ON TO INDICATE THE CAR IS EMPTY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE FILLED THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD INDICATE THAT THE TANK WAS STILL EMPTY. ALSO WHEN HE SHIFTED HIS BODY WEIGHT IN THE DRIVER SEAT, THE BACK OF THE SEAT MOVED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE WRONG SWITCH WAS IN THE VEHICLE FOR THE POWER SEAT; THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR BOTH THE DRIVER SEAT AND FUEL GAUGE. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT STATED THAT ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
