Crack in defective radiator allowed coolant to mix in with transmission fluid. Coolant caused transmission to fail while driving it. transmission changed gears on its own and would not shift properly and engine just shut down

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle downshifted independently. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the transmission fluid needed to be changed. The contact took the vehicle to a second independent mechanic and was informed that the radiator and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

WHILE DRIVING, FROM A STOP, A LOUD CLUNK OCCURRED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF LOW GEAR. UPON ARRIVAL AT HOME AND INSPECTION, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE COOLANT WAS CONTAMINATED WITH A DARK FLUID. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ENGAGE ANY GEAR AT THIS TIME AND IS NOT DRIVABLE. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT SUSPECTED CAUSE IS CROSS CONTAMINATION BETWEEN COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID, MOST LIKELY DUE TO RADIATOR DEFICIENCY.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO COOLANT BEING LEAKED INTO TRANSMISSION HOUSING CAUSING FAILURE OF TRANSMISSON AND CAUSING MODULE TO BLOW FUSE TO KEEP FROM HARMING ENGINE. THE ENGINE DIED AT SIGNAL LIGHT AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO MECHANIC. THERE I WAS TOLD TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED.

There was a recall concerning the fuel gauge not working correctly. The sensor in the tank needed replaced. Well my car had that recall fixed or so it says, but it is doing the same thing again. So are you gonna replace it again for no cost?

I BOUGHT THE NISSAN PATHFINDER BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT IN LATE 2007. IT ONLY HAS 45 THOUSAND MILES ON IT. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE UNTIL NOW. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS STEALING GAS OUT OF MY VEHICLE, BUT THOUGHT IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE IT'S KEPT BEHIND A LOCKED FENCE . SATURDAY JULY 13TH I HAD TO FILL UP BECAUSE OF A STORM. WHEN I GAS FINISHED FUELING IT SHOWED THAT I HAD AN EMPTY TANK. I KNEW THAT WAS WRONG SO I DECIDED TO GIVE NISSAN A CALL AT 1-800-647-7261. I SPOKE TO AN AGENT AND TOLD HIM MY PROBLEM, HE GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME TO CALL THE NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO ME . I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY SERVICES I HAD DONE TO MY VEHICLE. . I DON'T AGREE . THERE ARE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AS MYSELF AND I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM . IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME , PLEASE FEEL FREE TO HELP. WHILE DRIVING THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH, 2019, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER IN A NEARBY PARKING LOT AS SOON AS I COULD. AT THIS POINT, I NOTICED THAT MY FUEL GAUGE HAD DROPPED FROM 1/4 TANK DOWN TO EMPTY. I USED AN ODB2 SCANNER TO CHECK MY ERROR CODES, AND FOUND AN ERROR CODE P0463 (FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR - VOLTAGE HIGH). I IMMEDIATELY PROCEEDED TO A GAS STATION, REFUELED, AND CLEARED THE ENGINE CODE TO SEE IF IT WOULD REAPPEAR. IT HAS NOT SINCE REAPPEARED. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDERS, AND THAT THERE IS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE ISSUE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID IS 10V075000. I CALLED NISSAN'S PUBLIC NUMBER AND A LOCAL DEALERSHIP OWNED SERVICE CENTER. NEITHER FOUND ANY ACTIVE RECALLS REGARDING MY VEHICLE, AND NEITHER KNEW WHAT A NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE CENTER. I LEFT A VOICE MAIL FOR THEM THURSDAY AFTERNOON, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. BASED ON THE SYMPTOMS MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING, I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS LIKELY SUFFERING FROM THE SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED IN THE AFOREMENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN, AND THAT MY VEHICLE, AND LIKELY OTHERS, WERE MISSED IN THE RECALL.

THE DASHBOARD FUEL GUAGE DOES NOT RELIABLY REPORT THE LEVEL OF FUEL. THIS ISSUE LED TO A RECALL FOR 2008 PATHFINDERS IN THE PAST, BUT APPARENTLY NOT FOR MY VIN. THE ISSUE OCCURS AT VARIOUS TIMES, INCLUDING WHEN STATIONARY OR MOVING. SOMETIMES REFILLING THE TANK WILL GIVE A FULL TANK READING, SOME TIMES IT WILL NOT. IT WILL ALSO ALLOW THE TANK TO RUN DOWN TO EMPTY WITHOUT REFLECTING THAT ON THE GUAGE. OFTEN, BUT NOT ALWAYS, THE YELLOW SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AS A RESULT.

THE CONTACT AND HER SON EXITED THE VEHICLE, TO MANUALLY STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING BACK AND HITTING A BUILDING. THE CONTACT THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE COIL BLOCK HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AT START-UP. The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V067000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The dealer was not made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,610. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The passenger air bag warning light is flashing and the passenger air bag button that tells you that it is on and working when somebody gets in the car is off. Therefore the air bag will not deploy in a crash. The light just started flashing about 2 weeks ago approximately. There is also a recall on my vehicle for a component that could become a projectile in a crash if the air bag is deployed. This recall was made 02/09/23 and Nissan has no remedy for it. Therefore this problem is not repairable for almost 9 months. Then I have this new safety problem as well and I don't know why and I don't have the kind of money that would be charged to take it to the Nissan Dealership. I feel that this is one too many recalls on this vehicle there are 5 to be exact at this time. I want Nissan to replace my vehicle with something comparable and don't think that if the airbag is inoperable or that a component could kill somebody that this car should be driven on the roads. What are they going to do about this this is not a safety issue that should just be ignored. The car is paid for its still in very good condition but for me it is now unsafe to drive or to have a passenger in my vehicle. I want some remedy for this asap.

Front airbag sensor is bad. I checked it to see if this vehicle had its recall done for this known problem looks like it did because it don’t have a open recall for it.

AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK AND GETTING BACK ON THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED MY GAS GAUGE WAS READING I HAD 1/4 TANK AND MY TACHOMETER WAS FLASHING DASHES ALL THE WAY ACROSS. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CHECKED TO SEE IF MY GAS CAP WAS ON AND IT WAS. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FINE SO I CONTINUED ON MY WAY. EVENTUALLY, THE GAS GAUGE MOVED TO THE FULL POSITION AND MY TACHOMETER BEGAN TO KEEP THE MILES TO EMPTY, BUT NOT ACCURATELY. ONCE I GOT HOME, I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. CATASTROPHIC COOLING/TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TRAVELING EAST ON A HEAVILY TRAVELED SINGLE LANE HIGHWAY WITH NO BREAKDOWN LANE. SUDDEN NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, SOUNDING LIKE LIQUIDS BEING EXPELLED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE PEGS TO HIGH. LIMPED ALONG THE HIGHWAY UNTIL I COULD REACH A SAFE POINT TO PULL THE OVERHEATING VEHICLE OFF ROAD. ARRANGED FOR A TOW AND HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE INSPECTION REVEALED FAILURE OF THE RADIATOR. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION AND WITH SOME RESEARCH, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT NISSAN HAS A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW THAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE EVENTUAL FAILURE, IN A CATASTROPHIC EVENT, OF THE COOLING AND TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER PATHFINDER AND IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. MY WIFE IS DISABLED AND HAS HAD MANY BACK SURGERY. Contamination from the radiator mixed with the transmission cooler. The car is now inoperable due to this design flaw. This causes the transmission to be extremely sluggish and unresponsive when run, oftentimes the engine won't start or crank due to a blown fuse related to this issue. The slow acceleration causes safety issues when pulling out into traffic. The vehicle was inspected by a licensed Illinois auto rebuilder. The four-wheel-drive indicator is stuck to on although the vehicle is in two-wheel drive and service engine light appeared.

MY 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND WAS REPLACED TWICE IN 2017. I BROUGHT TO THE NISSAN AUTHORIZED DEALER FIRST FOR A THUMBING SOUND WHEN PUSHING GAS PEDAL AFTER TAKING THE FOOT OFF. WHEN IT WORSENED THEY SAID IT WAS THE CALIPERS AND CHANGED MY CALIPERS FOR $2000. BUT THE THUMBING SOUND PERSISTED. AFTER A FEW MONTHS THEY SAID IT WAS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE. THE THUMBING SOUND PERSISTED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ABOVE 40 MPH. THE TRANSMISSION WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE SOUND GOT WORSE. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND BROKEN METAL PIECES IN THE REAL AXLE BOX. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT HELP SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL. I SEE SIMILAR INCIDENTS REPORTED BY CONSUMERS IN THE INTERNET. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $3000 TO REPLACE THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY ACCORDING TO THE QUOTE GIVEN BY THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED DURING THE WARRANTY TIME AND NISSAN DEALERSHIP COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IT. NOT THEY SAY THE WARRANTY WAS OVER A YEAR AGO. HAVING THE GEAR BOX BROKEN IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD BUT NOW NISSAN REJECTS TO CORRECT IT.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was a grinding sound coming from the front end of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the tie rod end and ball joints replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 10E019000 (Suspension) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.

ON SEPT 1, 2016, I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER ON MY DAILY COMMUTE TO WORK 32 HIGHWAY MILES NOTICED THE RED BRAKE LIGHT COME ON IN THE VEHICLE. THIS RESULTED IN THE NEED FOR THEM TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF NEARLY $4000.00. THIS SEEMS TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT WILL BEGIN JERKING AND SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER SHOULD ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM IF A VEHICLE IS UNDER 200,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND DRIVING (IN MOTION) WITH NO ISSUES ALONG THE INTERSTATE (HIGHWAY) WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED JERKING AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. IT CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE AS I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE TILL THAT POINT. THE ISSUES OCCURS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND OUT OF THE BLUE. NISSAN SHOULD REIMBURSE OWNERS OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIONS AND/OR RADIATORS AT NO COST SINCE THE DEFECT WAS MANUFACTURE RELATED.

I NOTICED A SHUDDER WHEN THE CAR SHIFTED FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR BUT SEEM TO DRIVE NORMAL OTHERWISE. I CONTACTED NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND SCHEDULED THE FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT, WHICH TOOK EXACTLY 1 WEEK FROM DATE FIRST SYMPTOM. ON THE MORNING OF MY APPOINTMENT, MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS AT ALL ONCE I GOT ON THE HIGHWAY, CAUSING VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR BOTH MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. I WAS ABLE TO COAST MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS LATER INFORMED FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT A FAULTY RADIATOR LEAKED FLUID AND CONTAMINATED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, RESULTING IN A FAILED TRANSMISSION. REPAIR COSTS WOULD BE $5230, BUT THE MANAGER WOULD AGREE TO DO IT FOR $4165. I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY WERE AWARE OF FAULTY RADIATOR IN THE 2005-06 MODELS BUT WERE UNAWARE OTHER MODELS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I HAD ALREADY RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM, TO FIND THAT NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN FILED REGARDING 2005-2010 PATHFINDER, XTERRAS, AND FRONTIER AND NISSAN HAD SETTLED A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT BY OFFERING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY. SINCE I WAS BARELY OUTSIDE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO INQUIRE ABOUT ASSISTANCE WITH GOODWILL REPAIR SINCE THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS THE RESULT OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I WAS INFORMED BY THE REGIONAL SPECIALIST SHE WOULD NEED A WEEK TO REVIEW THE CASE. ONE WEEK TO THE DATE, SHE RETURNED MY CALL INQUIRING IF I WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY THE COPAY LISTED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I INFORMED HER YES. SHE THEN INQUIRED IF I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN A POSSIBLE VPP DISCOUNT ON A 2015 NISSAN AUTOMOBILE. I INFORMED HER I WAS INTERESTED IN ALL OPTIONS IN ORDER TO MAKE THE BEST CHOICE FOR MY SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE DELTA STROKE SENSOR. OUR NISSAN PROBLEMS STARTED YEARS AGO. IN 2010 I STARTED NOTICING NOISE AND SHUDDERING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING MORE THAN IT NEEDED A FLUSH OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. SO I PAID THE $150, HAD IT DONE AND WENT ON MY WAY. IN 2011 IS STARTED DOING IT AGAIN, HAD IT CHECKED AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT I MUST HAVE BEEN HEARING THINGS. THEY TEST DROVE IT NUMEROUS TIMES AND 'NEVER HEARD ANYTHING'. EVENTUALLY THEY HAD A SPECIALIST COME AND LOOK AT MY CAR. HE DETERMINED THAT MY A/C UNIT NEEDED TO BE RESET. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE FINE AND WE WENT ON OUR MERRY WAY. FLASH FORWARD TO JULY 2013. ON THE WAY HOME FROM A ROAD TRIP, ABOUT 3 HOURS FROM OUR HOUSE WE STARTED NOTICING IT WAS GETTING HOT IN THE CAR. SURE ENOUGH THE AIR JUST STARTED BLOWING OUT HOT AIR. EVERYTHING STILL WORKED ON THE A/C, JUST BLOWING HOT AIR. SO WE DROVE HOME SWEATING OUR A$$ OFF IN MID-SUMMER IN FL. A DAY OR 2 LATER WE ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (1ST TIME EVER IN THIS CAR). HUSBAND THOUGHT HE SHOULD SHUT THE CAR OFF...WELL, THAT WAS THE LAST TIME MY CAR EVER WORKED. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT SAT THERE FOR 2 WEEKS. FIRST HE DETERMINED IT WAS A BLOWN FUSE - GREAT, $10! - WENT TO PICK IT UP AND IT BLEW AGAIN. HE THEN DETERMINED IT WAS A BROKEN COMPUTER TOLD US TO TOW IT TO NISSAN. WE DID. IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR A WEEK AND WE WERE JUST TOLD THAT THE TRANS & RADIATOR FLUIDS MIXED AND CAUSED TRANS TO SEIZE CAUSING A/C AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES AS WELL. THEY CLAIM THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE...YEA, RIGHT! MY 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS A RADIATOR THAT FAILED CAUSING ENGINE COOLANT TO MIX WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID THUS CAUSING A TOTAL FAILURE OF MY TRANSMISSION. IN RESEARCHING AFTER THE FAILURE I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSAN PATHFINDERS, FRONTIERS, AND XTERRAS FROM 2005-2008. IT IS TO THE POINT WHERE PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THE TRANSMISSION LINE OUT OF THE COOLANT SYSTEM LOOP PRIOR TO THE RADIATOR FAILING IN ATTEMPT TO SAVE THE TRANSMISSION FROM THE INEVITABLE FAILURE. THESE RADIATORS NEED TO BE RECALLED TO PREVENT ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FROM TOTAL FAILURE AND THUS PREVENT SERIOUS ACCIDENTS RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH IN THE FUTURE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN! IN MY INSTANCE WHILE DRIVING MY WIFE AND MY 7 DAY OLD FIRST BORN SON TO HIS DOCTORS APPOINTMENT MY NISSAN PATHFINDER BEGAN TO HESITATE AND SLIP, THEN CATCH, AND SLIP, AND LOCK UP, AND JERK, AND THEN ONLY SLIP. I WAS FORCED TO PUSH MY VEHICLE A DISTANCE WHILE VEHICLES PROCEEDED TO PASS ME AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. ALL THE WHILE MY WIFE AND 7 DAY OLD INFANT INSIDE. I THEN NEEDED TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER CALLING THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT IS FAIRLY COMMON AND THEY WERE NOT SURPRISED. 2005-2008 NISSAN PATHFINDERS, XTERRAS, AND FRONTIERS HAVE FAULTY RADIATORS THAT ARE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND ARE EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR THE PASSENGERS OF THESE VEHICLES. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V075000 COVERS A DEFECTIVE FUEL SENDING UNIT/GAUGE ON 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDERS RESULTING IN THE FUEL GAUGE OVERSTATING THE FUEL LEVEL BY 1/4 TANK. I TOOK MY CERTIFIED PATHFINDER IN FOR A FAULTY WINDOW SWITCH AND WHILE IT WAS THERE HAD THEM CHECK THE POWER TRAIN FOR A NOISE I WAS HEARING EVERY INITIAL 1ST TO 2ND GEAR SHIFT AFTER START UP. DEALER NOTIFIED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS CONTAMINATED OR INCORRECT FLUID. I WAS THEN TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THE FLUID. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, AS NOT ONLY IS THE VEHICLE COVERED BY THE NISSAN CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED PROGRAM, BUT I ALSO BOUGHT THEIR SECURITY PLUS WARRANTY. THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE IS NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER 6,000 MILES, AND THE FLUID SHOULD NOT BE CONTAMINATED OR BE THE WRONG COLOR AND HAVE THE VISCOSITY OF WATER, PER THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. THEY ARE NOT EVEN ADVISING A STANDARD TRANSMISSION SERVICE, THEY WANT TO REPLACE ALL THE FLUID, AS WHAT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SYSTEM IS UNUSABLE. NISSAN CPO IS DENYING MY CLAIM TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FIXED, TAKING THE STANCE THAT THEY DO NOT WARRANTY FLUIDS. I AM NOT ASKING THEM TO WARRANTY THE FLUID, STANDARD MAINTENANCE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY. HOWEVER THERE IS AN ISSUES AS TO HOW/WHY THE FLUID GOT CONTAMINATED AND IS NO LONGER USABLE, AND NEEDS TO BE FLUSHED. NISSAN DOES NOT WANT ANY PART IN ADDRESSING THAT ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH THEIR CPO AND SECURITY PLUS WARRANTIES ARE SUPPOSED TO COVER THE ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN. AS IT TURNS OUT THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES, APPARENTLY THERE IS AN ISSUES IN THE RADIATOR, WHICH ALSO HAS THE TRANSMISSIONS COOLER BUILD INTO IT, ALLOWING COOLANT TO SEEP INTO THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. KNOWING THIS NISSAN IS STILL TAKING THE STANCE THAT THEY DO NOT WARRANTY FLUIDS AND IS REFUSING TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAG REMAINING OFF, THE HEADLIGHT BULB CONSTANTLY FAILED, THE WINDOWS WOULD OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT AN UNUSUAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEAD LIGHT BULB AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR BAG, WINDOWS AND BRAKES WERE OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURES PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURES AT THE WINDOW ELECTRICAL WIRING AND THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACTED EXPERIENCED FAILURES WHILE HE SHIFTED GEARS THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN, AND WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO STOP IT THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY WHICH CAUSED HIM TO INCREASE THE BREAKING DISTANCE. HE THOUGHT IT WAS DRIVERS ERROR, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE FRONT SHOCKS; THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK REPORT 6887492; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE, BECAUSE THE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WASN'T DONE AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM NISSAN FOR MY 2008 PATHFINDER DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL GAUGE. ON SATURDAY 5/1/2010, I PRESENTED THE VEHICLE TO MAROONE NISSAN IN KENDALL FOR REPAIRS. AFTER 2 HOURS, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME WITH A RECEIPT INDICATING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. THERE WAS A STRONG GAS ODOR WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. I ASSUMED THAT THIS WAS PROBABLY NATURAL SINCE THE REPAIRS WERE RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. HOWEVER, LATER THAT DAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME THAT THIS LIGHT CAME ON SINCE I ACQUIRED THE VEHICLE IN APRIL 2008. I DECIDED THAT ON MONDAY MORNING I WILL RETURN THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN. HOWEVER, ON SUNDAY AROUND MIDDAY, MY SON TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE STATION TO PURCHASE GAS. THE NEXT EVENT THAT HAPPENED WAS ALARMING. ALL THE GAS THAT MY SON ADDED TO THE VEHICLE LEAKED OUT ON THE GROUND. APPARENTLY, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SOMEHOW MANAGED TO CREATE A HOLE SOMEWHERE IN THE FUEL SYSTEM/GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO NISSAN FOR REPAIRS AND THE REPAIRS ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR ON MONDAY 5/3/2010. THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR EVEN DEATH TO MY SON. I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THE INDIVIDUAL WHO PERFORMED THE REPAIRS WAS A NISSAN TRAINED AND CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN OR NOT. HOWEVER, IT IS WORTHY OF NOTE THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS DEFICIENCY IN EXISTENCE AT THE NISSAN LOCATION. IT IS MY HOPE AND EXPECTATION THAT AN INVESTIGATION BE MADE INTO THE TYPE AND QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SERVICE PERSONNEL AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES AT THIS LOCATION. I AM CONVINCED THAT THESE INDIVIDUALS WERE FULLY AWARE THAT THEY WERE RETURNING TO ME A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE HAD CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FIFTY PERCENT OF THE TIME WHEN SHE OCCUPIES THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT, THE AIR BAG SENSOR CONTROL MODULE INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS DEACTIVATED. SHE WEIGHS 120 LBS AND IS APPROXIMATELY 5 FEET TALL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SEAT WAS NOT DEFECTIVE AND ADVISED HER TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. WHEN SHE RESETS THE TRIP ODOMETER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, IT DOES NOT MATCH THE ODOMETER LOCATED ON THE NAVIGATION COMPUTER. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE NUMBER ON THE NAVIGATION COMPUTER WAS A 2 PERCENT DIFFERENCE FROM THE ODOMETER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. UPDATED 03-05-08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE ODOMETER TRIP READING ON THE DASH WAS NOT MATCHING THE TRIP READING ON THE CENTER COMPUTER.
