2015 Nissan Versa 83,850 odometer reading Complaint: Safety for other individuals driving similar vehicles. Daughter was driving recently on 91 freeway in Long Beach, CA extremely busy highway on a Friday afternoon. Driving in the middle lane the cars forward movement stopped but car still running. Mechanic diagnosis was the CVT transmission. The car did not give us any warning at anytime there were any issues with the transmission. My concern and hope other would know about CVT transmissions This could of been a very bad day for my daughter if an accident was caused due to this issue. Thank God for the California Highway Patrol, The 911 operator and the California Tow Truck highway Patrol who got her off the highway quickly and safely.

Only have 81000 miles on my versa took to shop and did diagnose on it said I need a new transmission I don’t even drive that much and quoted $8000 to replace it I called a transmission shop and they told me those cars are known to have bad transmission Nissan needs to step up and admit the transmission or faulty

The CVT transmission has only 80k miles and is changing gears for no reason up and down at all speeds and won’t drive safely. Rpm’s increase and randomly gear kicks in and hits very hard and then stops working.

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Versa Note. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated and was jerking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with transmission failure. The mechanic replaced the transmission; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,102. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact owned a 2015 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 70 MPH, a deer ran head-on into the vehicle and crashed through the windshield. The contact stated that the deer's antlers were stuck inside the vehicle as the deer frantically tried to escape the vehicle. The contact stated that the driver and passenger side air failed to deploy upon impact. The contact also stated that only the driver-side curtain air bag deployed. The steering wheel had locked without warning as her husband was able to stop the vehicle right before hitting two guardrails. The authorities were called to the scene and a police report was filed. The contact and her husband were treated on scene for scrapes and bruises but did not go to the hospital for further evaluation. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was totaled. The failure mileage was approximately 192,000. The VIN was not available.

I WENT TO BOB MOORE NISSAN IN NORMAN OKLAHOMA FOR SERVICING MY 2015 NISSAN VERSA NOTE. THEY TOLD ME THAT NY AIRBAGS HAD STOPPED WORKING. I'VE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IN THIS CAR AND THE AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME $3600 TO FIX MY AIRBAGS, BUT I FOUND OUT THAT OTHER NISSAN AIRBAGS HAD BEEN RECALLED.

MY DAUGHTER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR. SHE AND A CHEVY SILVERADO WERE TRAVELING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS WHEN THEIR TRAFFIC SIGNALS BOTH TURNED YELLOW. THINKING SHE WAS GOING TO STOP, HE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF HER CAUSING HER TO T-BONE HIS TRUCK. THOUGH SHE HIT HEAD ON, NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. I was driving on the highway and my hood came up and hit my windshield. The windshield was cracked. The hood brackets were bent and the hood was dented. A trooper arrived on scene. The hood was tied down with bracing and needs repair. The hood latch gave way.

The arm that comes in from the firewall of the clutch master cylinder that has the little plastic clip that attaches to the rod of the clutch pedal, constantly pops off leaving you with complete loss of control of your car. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY ALL NISSAN VERSA OWNERS!! This faulty issue has happened to so many people that have even had brand new clutch master cylinders replaced. Many owners have had to create a fix themselves due to this faulty clip. This can be extremely dangerous while driving. In my situation yesterday in HIGH traffic I lost complete control of my clutch. I have uploaded some photos that another person posted on a forum to show the clip and rod and that they used their own concoction to fix this. This has caused many versa owners complete loss of control of their vehicles.

I have had two major instances where the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) has caused my vehicle to lose total power. The first incident occurred around midnight one night as I was heading home. I was unable to accelerate from a stop sign and had to put the car in neutral and coast in reverse to be able to get my vehicle out of the road and along the curb. The vehicle would not start on its own. I had to have the vehicle towed and taken to a mechanic where repairs were completed. WIthin two months of these repairs, I notice the problem seems to be returning. Three times I notice the car not accelerating correctly and one instance where I tried to press the gas pedal and had no response from the car to it. Ultimately these issue led to my coming home one night around 2am and the car simply would not accelerate at all. I had to pull over and again call a tow truck. My mechanic tells me the the MAF sensor is faulty, but the company handling the extended warranty wants to see the car orior to repairs being done. However, that means I am stuck waiting almost a week before repairs can even begin. Its very nerve racking having this issue on your vehicle. Its an intermittent problem that seems to creep up whenever it feels like it, I have to drive my car for work and I often keep late hours. I dont like the idea of breaking down at night in an area I am not familiar with Having thid problem affects not only my and others safety but my overall well being and financial stability

Transmission locked up and almost got me hit my 2015 Versa note only has 67000 miles on it I’ve only had it 4 months and it’s not covered by warranty and even though I’m glad my kids were not in the car I’m not happy with the fact that the transmission issue is known but still being sold if I knew this was a possibility I would not have bought it

These cars have known issues with the CVT transmissions. Our car has 42k miles and is in need of a complete transmission replacement that Nissan refuses to cover. Our son was put in a dangerous situation driving in the way when the car began sputtering and losing power.

STEERING

The PS warning light has been coming on intermittently. The power steering goes out and the vehicle is hard to steer. My safety and others are put at risk if I lose power steering. We have done research online and plan to take it to a dealership to confirm the exact issue. The PS warning light has come on a few times over the last several months and the power steering comes and goes.

When driving the electric power steering began to malfunction in short periods of driving, making it very hard to drive safely. Until a few weeks later the whole unit stopped working and the power steering light came on. This made it hard to steer in high and low speeds. This put my car and others at risk in lane changing and during turns because of the seizing steering. Imagine if a person jumps out in front of the car and the brakes weren’t a viable option, I would not be able to swerve out of the way. Or run off the road. Our auto mechanic recommended we report it to NHTSA because the car can lose control due to the steering seizing. The mechanic said the car is not old enough for it to be failing and should be recalled due to safety. Research on the internet shows these cars with low miles are all having the same issue.

Steering wheel assembly cracked and also the left side of the steering wheel piece broke. Very expensive to fix and wasn’t offered a car to use. Order for this assembly is on back order!!!! Nissan said the crack could only be if it was blunt force to it which would consist of 300 lbs. So it’s a Nissan failure but no recalls on it which is sad.

The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle after a rainstorm, the contact became aware that the vehicle was flooded on the passenger side from water that had poured in the vehicle upon opening the door. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the cowl panel drain was clogged. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred two more times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS JUST SITTING IN THE YARD. I CALLED THE OUACHITA PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE. A DEPUTY CAME OUT AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. I FILED AND AUTO INSURANCE CLAIM AND HAVE TO WAIT UP TO 48 HOURS FOR A RESPONSE.

THE HINGES THAT HOLD THE DOORS ARE PAINTED WITH THE SAME PRIMER AND COLOR COAT AND A LESS BUFFED OR POSSIBLY NOT COVERED IN A CLEAR COAT. PRACTICAL THINKING IS THAT IT IS LIKELY, NOT JUST PLAUSIBLE, THAT THE PAINT HAS BEEN OR WILL BE COMPROMISED IN THESE PLACES LEADING TO FAILURE CAUSING DISTRACTION, INJURY OR DEATH.

I HAD PREVIOUSLY MADE NISSAN AWARE OF A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR STALLING AND SHUTTING OFF. THEY ASSURED ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, THE CAR CONTINUED TO STALL AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. MONTHS LATER IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND WOULD DECREASE IN SPEED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO NOT MOVE WHEN I WOULD PRESS ON THE GAS AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP; I WOULD HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON. THEN IT STARTED TO FAIL GOING IN REVERSE AND SHUTTING OFF AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. MANY OTHER NISSAN VERSA OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINT OF VEHICLES STALLING. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON MY 2015 NISSAN VERSA NOTE 3 TIMES NOW. IN ALL 3 SITUATIONS, MY CAR WAS IN IDLE IN DRIVE MODE AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I RESTARTED THE CAR THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AND IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED JAN. 6 AT 10:30 A.M. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR, I NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY SPONGY AND SOFT AND THE CAR HESITATED TO STOP WHEN BRAKE ENGAGED. BUT AS I KEEP DRIVING IT, IT PROMPT ME INTO DANGER AS I HAVE HARD TIME STOPPING THE CAR AND END UP IN THE MIDDLE OF CROSSWALK. FOR VERSA BRAKE, I FEEL LIKE IT IS DESIGNED TO BRAKE AT LEAST 30FT AHEAD, IT TOTALLY DOES NOT WORK FOR EMERGENCY. I NEVER LET MY MOM DRIVE THAT CAR BECAUSE HER EYES COULD NOT SEE THAT FAR! THE BRAKE DOESN'T MAKE THE CAR STOP WITHIN 15FT AT 35 MPH!. I HAVE TO KEEP THE SAME DISTANCE WITH THE CAR IN FRONT IN LOCAL STREET AS IN FREEWAY TO FEEL SAFE. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ALSO VERY SOFT AND SPONGY, I APPLY ALL THE WAY AND THE CAR STILL KEEPS SLIDING. I OFTEN END UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CROSSWALK. YESTERDAY, I WAS STUCK IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT TWICE BECAUSE THE BRAKE JUST SLOWED DOWN THE CAR FOR A LITTLE BIT EVEN WHEN I ENGAGED HALF WAY, AND IT FELT LIKE THE CAR STILL JERKED AGAINST THE BRAKING FORCE! IT IS NOT OK AND TOTALLY UNSAFE! I REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO A BRAKE RECALL!

WHILE PRESSING DOWN THE PEDAL TO ENGAGE THE CAR TO PICK UP SPEED THE CAR PEDAL WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 183 HEADING NORTH, I HAD TO CALL 911 TO GET ASSISTANCE FROM THE OPERATOR TO SAFELY SLOW THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE CAR ACCELERATED TO AN UNSAFE SPEED WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE HOME. THE CAR PEDAL WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE CAR WAS PLACED IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL ON THE MEDIAN AND TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF. WHEN THE SHERIFF OFFICE ARRIVED AND LOOKED AT THE CAR THEY WERE ABLE HELP ME LOOSE THE PEDAL FROM THE FLOOR.

Fuel gage is inaccurate and fuel keeps dropping fast. After a week of this check engine came on after checking fuel pump, it was determined the pump was brand new and had no issues. A recall was done on the fuel line last year had it check at Nissan dealership and service rep stated the line was fine and advised the rep that didn't explain when the fuel gage is inaccurate or the fuel dropping fast if the fuel line and my fuel pump are fine. They never rechecked it...now engine light is on and code is reading P0193 which that indicates a fuel sensory circuit which the dealership should have realized if they actually checked everything regarding the fuel issue last year. This should be addressed and nissan should render the repair of this fuel issue I have been having from the start and I believe last year Nissan just checked the fuel line and called it a day and didn't fully address the fuel issue I'm having with this vehicle overall.

THE FUEL GAUGE IS INACCURATE ONCE BELOW 3/8THS OF A TANK. THIS COULD LEAD TO A STALL ON THE FREEWAY OR IN A DANGEROUS AREA LEADING TO AN ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM LEAVES INSUFFICIENT TIME TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. OUR PARTICULAR INCIDENT HAD THE METER AT 3/8THS AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. WHILE STUCK IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE AND MY CAR STALLED. NO WARNING WAS GIVEN AND MY POWER STEERING TURNED OFF. I'M 86 YRS OLD AND NOT ABLE TO CRAWL UNDER THE CAR. THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED UNDERNEATH THE BODY OF THE CAR AND IT HAD FALLEN OUT ON THE HWY. I was in my car sleeping with the ignition off when I woke up there was flames on the driver side of the hood. You can see where the fire started on the ground wire by the battery circuit box. My safety was at risk because I could have not been able to make it out of my car if didn't wake up in time and could have been severely injured or even dead.

I was driving along and I went to stop but the brake didn't stop the car so I put in the car in park. Then the brake and engine lights started flashing at me so I turned of the car. I wasn't driving very fast at all, probably less than 20 miles per hour. Then when I restarted the car the brake and engine lights cam back on and the brake still wasn't working, and the car rolled while it was in park. I was not able to move the car to a safe spot. I had to sit partially in a traffic lane near a dangerous, blind curve. A sheriff's deputy saw my car and pulled in behind me to help protect me while we waited two hours for the Auto Club. My mechanic said the transmission totally failed and caused the problems.

My skid mark symbol comes on, does not go off until 2or 3 days later. My Nissan will not accelerate over 20 miles per hour. I have had mu vehicle checked several times at the Grainger Nissan dealership several times within the past 4 years after they installed a new transmission. They found and corrected other issues, but not what causes the traction lights to come on and decrease speed causing me to have to use flashers and bike lanes where ever available until I get home. Independent mechanics have checked, knocked off traction light. It only comes on again. I have another mechanic at Precision Tune to check it out tomorrow. The last date of this occurrence was 12/ 08/2025

The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the dealer, where the fuel pump assembly, the lower control arm, and the electronic parking switch were replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that cylinder #1 had misfired, and the dealer determined that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a transmission specialist, where the catalytic converter was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the catalytic converter was replaced for a second time. Additionally, the contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to shift to first gear. The vehicle was towed to another dealer, Classic Nissan Newport News (12925 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23608), where the transmission assembly, the ignition coil, and spark plug #1 were replaced. The contact stated while driving after the repair, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while her grandson was occupying the rear passenger's side seat, the seat belt locked and failed to unbuckle. The contact stated that her daughter cut the seat belt and released her grandson. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

The vehicle engine stalled while driving in motion at approximately 65 miles per hour, and occasionally would stall without warning while waiting at a traffic light stop. The vehicle occasionally would not allow for the key to turn its ignition and would remain locked unpredictably and would require extended amounts of time to lock/unlock via security key fob repeatedly to allow for the key to turn the ignition.

After I bought my 2015 Nissan Versa with VIN: [XXX[ in April 2019, the water gained entry inside the car due to heavy rain a month later. The incident has continued to occur; Unfortunately, I had kept blaming it on the height between the parking ground and the car floorboard. The design flaws on the Versa allow water to collect below the windshield. When the collected water doesn't drain, so it flows into the car on the front passenger side floor below the compartment gloves area. It causes visibility problems during rainy and winter seasons since the inside car is not completely sealed causing insulation issues. I had to buy different products to address the visibility problems. My car got flooded last May 2022 to the point I had to get a cup to get some of the water out. I started hearing a sloshing sound and quirking sound when pressing on the brake not too long and so on. I initially paid $1,200 to repair the electrical problems to a Nissan dealer and later found out the harness needed to be replaced due to water damage costing $7,200. The design flaw made my car unsafe due to the visibility problem during inclement weather. There is a blog where 2014 through 2018 Nissan Versa owners describing the same issue I have been experiencing. I am dumbfounded Nissan has never bothered to address this issue for so long; very few people have a disposable income to pay for repairs or constantly buy a new car in less than 5 years. The sad thing, I had to borrow money from my life insurance to pay the car off. I know Nissan will use the inspection defense. Please keep in mind all the cars that have been recalled before passed inspection, so it is not a valid point. It seems like it requires a lot of work to accelerate and the rpm fluctuates between 2&3 when keeping a steady pace. The care bucks while you are driving. WHEN TAKING OFF THE TRANSMISSION BELT SLIPS ALL THE TIME SO I TRY TO EASE INTO THE GAS AS GENTLY AS POSSIBLE. I HAVE ISSUES ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE TRANSMISSION SEEMING TO SLIP OUT OF ENGAGEMENT OF THE BELT WHEN SPEEDING UP TO PASS. WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A LIGHT, IF THE LIGHT TURNS BEFORE I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND I GO TO REAPPLY PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL, IF I DONT GENTLY APPLY THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION BELT WILL SLIP AND CAUSE THE CAR TO SHUTTER. IM NOT SURE WHAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE, BUT I HAVE HAD SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR AROUND 40000 MILES, A CRICKET CHIRPING NOISE THAT IN THE BEGINNING WAS ALWAYS AT 2000RPM AND NO WHERES ELSE IN THE RPM RANGE. NOW IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE TO WHERE I SEEM TO HEAR THE CHIRPING NOISE ANYWHERE AROUND 1500 RPM TO 2250RPM RANGE. AS WELL I HAVE HAD THE RADIATOR FAN QUIT WORKING CAUSING THE MOTOR TO OVER HEAT PRETTY BAD BUT THE HEAD GASKET DIDNT FAIL LUCKILY. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE ENTIRE TIME I HAVE OWNED THE CAR, AN ISSUE WITH THE A/C WHEN IT STARTS UP THE CLUTCH BASICALLY CLUNCKS ON OR MAKES AN AWFUL NOISE KICKING ON AND WHILE THE A/C WOULD RUN BEFORE THE FAN FAILED, THE AIR WOULD START SMELLING VERY VERY BAD. I BOUGHT THIS VERSA BRAND NEW AT THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER A YEAR FROM THE PURCHASE DATE THE DEALER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS AND WAS BOUGHT OUT. THE FIRST YEAR I HAD IT I CAME IN OFTEN WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, BUT WAS TOLD IT WAS NOTHING AND TO GIVE IT MORE GAS WHEN IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS HAVING TROUBLES. EVERYTIME I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE, EVEN MY FIRST OIL CHANGE, THEY WOULD COME BACK WITH 600 DOLLARS WORTH OF FILTERS OR THE BRAKE FLUID NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. I QUIT GOING THERE FOR MY CAR, BECAUSE OF THE CONSTANT PRESSURE TO SPEND MONEY ON ISSUES I WASNT HAVING. THEY NEVER WANTED TO LOOK AT THE TRANSMISSION OR ANYTHING. 2015 NISSAN VERSA NOTE SV SUFFERS FROM FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH INTERMITTENT AND DOES NOT LIGHT UP THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. CONSEQUENTLY, WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS WORKING, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL ALSO ILLUMINATE AND CAUSE THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM TO BE DISABLED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. FIRST, FAILURE TO ILLUMINATE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN BRAKING WILL FAIL TO ALERT DRIVERS THAT YOU ARE STOPPING AND PUTS YOU AT RISK FOR A REAR END COLLISION. SECOND, THE TRACTION CONTROL ALSO BECOMES DISABLED, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT YOU LOSE TRACTION, THE VEHICLE WILL NO LONGER ASSIST WITH DRIVING STABILITY. WORSE CASE, YOU ARE REAR ENDED DUE TO THE BRAKE LIGHTS NOT ILLUMINATING AND THEN YOUR CAR LOSES TRACTION DUE TO THE IMPACT, YOU TRACTION CONTROL IS ALSO DISABLED, THEREFORE YOU ARE AT AN EVEN HIGHER RISK FOR INJURY. THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED BY SIMPLE REPLACEMENT OF THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH SENSOR THAT SITS BEHIND THE BRAKE PEDAL. IT IS A 1 MINUTE JOB JUST TO UNSCREW THE OLD SENSOR AND SCREW IN THE NEW ONE. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, ALTHOUGH MINOR, DUE TO THE BRAKE LIGHT NOT TURNING ON. THE DRIVER BEHIND ME REAR ENDED ME, POSSIBLY DUE TO KNOWING I WAS BRAKING UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE. I HAVE NOTICED THROUGH MY REAR VIEW MIRROR ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE VEHICLES BEHIND ME WOULD BRAKE VIOLENTLY. I FINALLY REALIZED IT WAS DUE TO MY BRAKE LAMP SWITCH NOT ALWAYS WORKING. KEEP IN MIND, MY VEHICLE NEVER WARNED ME ABOUT MY TAIL LIGHT BEING OUT. TECHNICALLY, IT WOULDN'T, SINCE THE BRAKE LIGHT BULBS ARE FINE. THE SWITCH FAILING DID NOT ALERT ME WHEN THE BRAKE LAMPS ARE NOT ILLUMINATING. I REPLACED THE PART FOR $68.36 WITH A GENUINE PART FROM NISSAN DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM AND NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. THE CAR IS BARELY TWO YEARS OLD, THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STALLED TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD NOT STEER, PRESS ON THE GAS OR THE BRAKE. I HAD TO TURN MY CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND BACK ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO WORK AGAIN. DROVE TO DEALER, AND WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF OVER $500.00 TO REPAIR DAMAGE. ESTIMATE INCLUDED RIM, OEM TIRE, PLASTIC WHEEL COVER ($80.00) TOLD IT WOULD BE NECESSARY TO HAVE A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE SCARY THING WAS IT FELT LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE WHEEL. CRANKED STEERING HARD LEFT, CAR JUST HEADED FOR THE CURB. OUR CAR WAS TRAVELING IN A VERY SLOW SPEED ON AN ON-RAMP OF INTERCHANGE FROM FREEWAY 110 NORTH BOUND TO 105 WEST BOUND IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY. THE TRAFFIC FLOW WAS IN A VERY SLOW MOVING FASHION. SINCE IT WAS AN UPHILL ON RAMP, I HAD TO STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL SLIGHTLY TO KEEP THE CAR MOVING AT A SLOW BUT STEADY SPEED. AS THE TRAFFIC GOT SLOWER, I GENTLY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN THE CAR. WHILE I WAS HOLDING DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL, SUDDENLY I HEARD A "CLUNK" NOISE AND FELT A VIBRATION. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR STARTED MOVING ON ITS OWN WITHOUT A SIGN OF SLOWING DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO STEP ON BRAKE WITH FULL FORCE BUT FELT THE BRAKE HAVING NO PRESSURE AT ALL. AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH UNCONTROLLED SPEED, THE ONLY THING I COULD DO AT THAT MOMENT WAS TO VEER THE CAR TOWARDS THE RIGHT EDGE TO AVOID DIRECT IMPACT WITH THE FRONT CAR. BY READING THE OWNER'S MANUAL, I BELIEVED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM FUNCTION WAS BEING ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT SINCE THE DRY AND NON-SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITION DID NOT WARRANT SUCH ACTIVATION. AND WHAT MADE THINGS EVEN WORSE WAS, FOR WHATEVER THE REASON, THE CAR WAS MOVING ON ITS OWN IN AN UNCONTROLLED SPEED WHILE THE BREAK PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY LOSING THE PRESSURE DUE TO THE ABS ACTIVATION. THIS VEHICLE WAS BEING RECALLED AND SERVICED FOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE LOWER PANEL TRIM DESIGN IN AUGUST. THE LIABILITY INSURANCE CLAIM WAS FILED FOR THE ACCIDENT. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AT SPEEDS 40MPH AND ABOVE, THE CAR DOES NOT STAY IN THE LANE. THE ISSUE AT TIMES ESCALATES BY GETTING OUT OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON ANY ROAD, GOING BACK AND FORTH LEFT TO RIGHT VERY FAST AND SHORT BY ITSELF WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CENTERED. FOR THIS ISSUE I'M NEEDING TO WAIT FOR THE CORRECTION AND SLOW DOWN THE CAR. THE FRONT TIRES ARE CONTINUOUSLY GETTING THROWN OUT OF ALIGNMENT AS SOON AS I DRIVE IT FOLLOWING SERVICING. I HAVE HAD 4 SERVICE APPOINTMENTS FOR ALIGNMENTS AND BALANCING WITHIN A 2 WEEK TIME FRAME, REPLACED TIRES, AND BROUGHT TO NISSAN DIRECTLY FOR A DIAGNOSIS WITH NO CHANGE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE ALIGNMENT IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, WHEN A CAR OR ANY VEHICLE DRIVES BY MY CAR ON ANY ROAD, MORE SEVERE ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR IS PUSHED ACROSS MY LANE AND THERE IS NO WINDY CONDITIONS. THIS DOES OCCUR ON THE HIGHWAY AND LOCAL STREETS. I RENTED A 2015 NISSAN VERSA NOTE FROM BUDGET RENTAL OUT OF THE PROV RI AIRPORT ON 1-12-16 TO GO TO A WAKE & FUNERAL. AFTER LEAVING THE WAKE AND ABOUT 7:30PM NOT LONG AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND TRAVELING 1/2 MILE I LOST BOTH THE ABILITY TO BRAKE AND STEER, I WASN'T GOING MORE THAN 10 MPH . THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL OF BOTH THE STEERING AND THE BRAKES WERE HARD AND UNRESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE CROSSED TO OTHER LANE AND SLOWLY BRUSHED AGAINST A TELEPHONE POLE. I GOT OUT AND DIDN'T SEE ANY DAMAGE. I DROVE THE VEHICLE APX 1.5 MILES TO MY BROTHERS HOUSE AND PARKED IT FOR THE NIGHT. THE NEXT MORNING I WAS LEAVING AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL DENT ON THE FENDER SO I WAS GOING TO LOOK AT THE POLE 1.5 MILES AWAY AND BACKED THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND STARTED TO PULL FORWARD AND 12-15 FEET GOING FORWARD THE STEERING AND BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. I GOT OUT AND SAW THAT THE WHEELS WERE BOTH POINTED IN AND AFTER LOOKING CLOSER NOTICED THAT THE LEFT STERING CONNECTOR THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE ENGAGED TO THE RACK IN PINION STERING WAS NOT ENGAGED AND ONLY THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WOULD SPIN. I VIDEO TAPED THE TIRE TRACKS THAT THE VEHICLE TRAVELED AND THAT THE WHEELS WERE BOTH POINTED IN ( WHICH COULDN'T HAVE BEEN DRIVEN 1.5 MILES FROM THE ACCIDENT) CALLED BUDGET RENTAL, LET THEM KNOW , THEY DISPATCHED TOW DRIVER AND HE AND I WINCHED THE WHEELS SO THEY COULD BE PLACED ON DOLLY FOR TOW. I TOOK PICTURES OF TOW DRIVER. I INFORMED BUDGETS MECHANIC OF WHEEL ISSUE AND HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE NISSAN LOOK AT IT. I FELT JUSTIFIED THAT MY ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDIDENT WAS NOT IN QUESTION. I THEN VIDEOED THE POLE, TIRE TRACKS AND THE 1.5 MILE DRIVE TO MY BROTHERS HOME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE MOMENTARILY ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. THE ABNORMAL NOISE WAS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURNS. THE VEHICLE ALSO EXPERIENCED DELAYED ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65.
